waste of time and money. Food is not good, greasy and too much seasoning. Even our son's chicken fingers were not good, not sure how you mess up chicken fingers. Food was also overpriced and the service was painfully slow. We never received the requested ketchup to help mask the taste of the chicken fingers. Wine options are bottom of the barrel, stuff that you can buy at Kroger for $5 a bottle

My family and I have been following the owner for many years. Best Peruvian restaurant in Atlanta. We live almost an hour away, but don't mind the drive. Service was ok, but food made up for it. Worth the $

Fantastic meal experience. We went in as a group during the lunch rush and were taken care of immediately. The staff were extremely friendly and the meal was fantastic. I had the Peruvian fried rice, which was a new experience for me. Highly recommended!

I've visited this restaurant two times and I must say I am pretty satisfied so far. The first time I visited I tried the Pollo con Camarones Enchilados - Chicken breast chunks with shrimp sautéed with a spicy Creole sofrito sauce with peppers, onions and white wine. If you like spicy, I definitely recommend it. The flavors are great and go very well together. The peppers, onions, white white and the creole sauce are very delicious. The second time I had the Filete de Corvina Imperial - Fresh fillet of sea bass broiled, topped with shrimp and scallops. Cooked in a delicate cream and yellow pepper sauce and a dash of cognac. The taste is very light and interesting. It has a creamy like texture with a hint of spice. The yellow pepper sauce gives a light spicyness to it and is great if you aren't a big fan of spicy foods but can handle just a slight bit. The shrimp and scallops are cooked well. The fresh sea bass is cooked just right and tastes amazing. The sweet plantains you can get on the side is great, as well as the white or yellow rice and beans!

i don't know if this place is the same of Mambo Jambo Cafe. Those restaurants share the same street " Winward Parkway in Alpharetta "

On a recent visit to Mambo's Cafe, I ordered something new to me from the menu: Jalea Mixta de Pescado y Mariscos. It is a dish of fried seafood with pieces grouper, shrimp, calamari and mussels. It came with yucca fries and was accompanied by a red onion salad. Everything was good. I recommend the Jalea Mixta de Pescado y Mariscos is you want fried seafood!

This place is really good, well at least what I just devoured. Sliced breast with citrus spices and sautéed onions. The white rice was just delicious. They also serve this bread with a green chili that you should test with the tip of the bread before being surprised. I wish I was hungry again.

Wow! Great food! Seriously authentic Cuban! We got the masas de puerco. Best I've had since coco loco in buckhead, that is no longer. Best black beans I've had in atlanta & half my family is Columbian. Go.

This is the best Cuban food I have ever had. (Mind you I've not been to FL in years)

Good service most of the time, can be hit or miss. Pretty chilly inside. Don't order the chicken wings, trust me you won't like them. Empanadas are wonderful! Tea is good, as well. Be careful if spicy is not your thing, the dishes they think are mild are really medium, the ones they consider medium are hot as hell. Seems most everything comes with plantains.

This was my third visit to Mambo Cafe. My first two visits was for take-out, and the most recent visit was dine-in. I have tried the Arroz Chaufa de Pollo o Carne. The taste of this dish was like charbroiled stir-fried rice with chicken and scallions and splash of soy sauce. The charbroiled taste to me over powered this dish. Dish came with side order of fried plantains, which were the best I've ever tasted. I wouldn't order this dish again, but worth the try. The Churrasco (Skirt Steak grilled) was Delicious! This dish is seasoned to perfection. I have ordered this dish dine-in and take-out and the results have been the same.... Yummy!

Really good Cuban restaurant. I ordered a sandwich Cubano......and it was mesmerizing. The service was good and the selection of food was great. The food was authentic Cuban. Definitely go back again.

It was a beautiful night, mid week my family and I went here for dinner. The service was good. There was a one man band who played a nice variety of music. We sat outside on their patio, which was lovely. Try to get one of the booths with cushions otherwise if you're going to be there for awhile you might get a bit uncomfortable. BUT, that's minor compared to how good everything else was...the empanadas are wonderful! We ordered two orders they were so good. If you like authentic mojitos, definitely order one ..or two...or three. :) It's one of the best mojitos I've had in awhile. The kids had Cuban sandwiches. They were perfect, comes with chips or fries. They enjoyed them and even had some to bring home for later. We also had the crab cakes, they come with asparagus. These do not have any breaded filler. Very filling and delicious. I had the seafood paella. It comes in a dinner size or half size. It was delicious with shrimp, mussels, and clams. The rice was just a tad drier than I'd prefer but was still tasty. There's also a paella with seafood plus chicken and sausage, it's probably good too. We'll definitely go back for more.

Went here for lunch - far and away from the Windward parkway hubbub. It's a tastefully decorated establishment with tables, boothes, full bar, stand-up tables. Clean and very good service. The menu is "easy to read" and nicely laid out. I headed right for the lunch section of the menu and got the cuban sandwich special with saffron rice and black beans. They bring some toasted bread and HOT green sauce - it was good. I enjoyed all of the items. The rest of the menu looks inviting. I want to try the churrasco next time. Check it out.

I have been going to this restaurant from the beginning when they were located in Haynes Bridge besides where now is Walmart Neighborhood Market. The owner is from Peru and lived many years in Miami Florida. This is why it is an authentic Cuban and Peruvian Restaurant. Many of my Cuban friends when I ask them which is their favorite Cuban Restaurant they tell me Mambo's Cafe. I frequently order to go because a complete meal is what I want for lunch. Their churrasco and grilled chicken is excellent. They know how to cook and manage a restaurant.

Came here today for lunch with some coworkers. It was a busy day for them. The food was delicious. I ordered the Churrasco. It's was a great piece of flank steak that comes with a side of rice and beans and plantains. The steak had a wonderful flavor. I would return here for lunch or dinner.

Good food, good service, great mojitos. The pulled pork was not so good. The saffron rice, and black beans were really good. The chicken was pretty good. I look foward to trying different things. I think I just need to try the place again.

Mambos cafe has the best churrasco with chimichuri sauce. I always order this item. Fantastic!

At best, probably 3.5 stars for the generous portions of food. The one thing that caught my eye about this place was the paella on the menu. Plus, I thought I had heard lots of good things about this place but turns out, I got it confused with Mambo Jambo Cafe (another latino food place) down the street. Oops. Nevertheless, still good to try out a new place on the Windward Parkway stretch. Semi busy on a Friday night, service was great. Comfortable booths AND the solo musician Troy Cono was pretty awesome. Early in the evening, his business card was passed out with a QR code so you can make requests with your smartphone or visit his website on the phone and submit a request. He did an awesome cover of Fastball's "The Way." On to the food though, we ordered the paella for two early and decided to go with the huge sampler appetizer which had a variety of things to munch while waiting for paella (which does take at leas 30 minutes). This plate was full of crispy plaintain chips which were thankfully not too salty. There were also two kinds of croquettes - the round one had some kind of meat inside and the long ones had ham/cheese from what I could taste. The interesting thing about these croquettes is that the potato parts were very smooth. I could taste that it had been well blended. I kinda would have preferred more potato chunks to it so there's more of a bite to it, but they were well-made. I should also mention that they do have a bread basket of garlic bread and some kind of green sauce. That sauce was really good - it's a little spicy and I think there might have been some avocado in it to make it so smooth like a watered down spicy guac. The paella came and there's a ton of meats in it: chicken, fish, shrimp, sausage, clams, and mussels. Chicken bits were a teeny bit tough but the fish was cooked just right that it was soft. Clams were good too, but the rice? Meh. We were hoping for it to be cooked enough on the stove/oven that the rice would have a crusty crunch especially when stuck to the pan. Pretty good flavor though - it seemed tomato-based and we definitely got a little more tang to it by squeezing lemon on it. Maybe it's because this was Cuban-style and not Spanish-style paella. I probably wouldn't get this again if I came back. We had plenty of leftover paella and the maduros (sweet plantains) on the side. Paella for two could be called paella for three. In fact, I would come back to try the other items on the menu. There are plenty of different meat/steak choices that sounded delicious. They have a pretty extensive menu and the portions are very generous.

I live in the area pass by this place all of the time! Finally stopped in and EVERYTHING IS DELISH!!! For starters we had ceviche was the best I've ever eaten... Premium cut flank steak, empanadas, plantains... Everything was HOT / FRESH and AUTHENTIC A MUST GO IF YOU LIKE CUBAN CUISINE!

Best Cuban food we have had since moving from south Florida. Peruvian options are wonderful too. Ham croquetas, Milanesa steak, all good options. Love the maraquitas! Friendly service. Oh and the bread is really good too but be careful not to fill up on it :)

Cigar smoking, beer drinking, AND Cuban vegetarian! I am a walking contradiction. Growing up Cuban I spent the first part of my life eating the best Cuban food in the world, my Mom's. Spending the next twenty five years as a vegetarian, most of my favorite Cuban food was still my moms, or my own cooking, doing my best copying her recipes. It is tough for me to find a great Cuban restaurant because I can't help but compare it to home, and Cuban food is not very vegetarian friendly. So when I say that I am a fan of Mambo's, they have earned all four of these stars. Mambo's Cafe does a great job offering classic Cuban and Peruvian cuisine. Cuban and Peruvian cuisines are very complimentary, as Peruvian food offers up some peppery heat which is usually not present in Cuban food, and the Cuban sofrito of garlic, onions and milder green peppers brings a comfort food quality to the table. The menu is large with a lot of options, and even a couple plates marked vegetarian. I will say I appreciate the effort. I ordered the mixed vegetables, more out of curiosity then anything else, and found the meal was surprisingly better than expected, but not one that I would order again. The menu offers a great selection of appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees. The black beans are done well, maduros and tostones were okay. I am looking forward to returning to try the Peruvian "Papa a la Huancaina" (potatoes with a spicy cheese sauce) as well as more of the Cuban menu. Service was fast and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but not out of the ordinary for area Cuban restaurants. So while I don' expect to see tofu on the menu any time soon, it is fantastic to have a great Cuban restaurant right here in Alpharetta!

Got last minute reservations here for Valentine's Day. Hubby and I both ordered the special, Churassco Steak and Shrimp. The steak was cooked beautifully (medium rare, as ordered) and the shrimp and a nice light char taste. The saffron rice was light and flavorful and the fried sweet plantains were the best I've had. The service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Our plates were $19.99/ea. Would recommend this place for a casual dinner with friends.

The old Mambo location was really close to my work, so I'm disappointed that I have to drive up to Windward to go to the new location (in the parking lot of Lowe's). On the bright side, the new location is much nicer looking (it's a new construction strip mall, so even the interior smells like fresh wood). They even have a couple of indoor picnic-style tables, if you don't mind dining next to strangers. Fortunately the excellent menu has stayed the same, and there is no price increase (you get a lot of tasty food for around $8.50). The place gets packed at lunch so I'd recommend getting there right at noon if you don't want to wait. Service was very slow (took 35 min to get my lunch entree), but I'll give them a pass on that since they are getting used to the new locale.

Their Peruvian Ceviche was very good and so was their Choritos a la Chalaca. These are combinations of seafood with sharp citric lime juice. Do not let the foreign (different) presentation of the food shy away from the exquisite test that the cuisine offers. Not all Ceviches are the same. Peruvian Ceviche are completely a different dish than the Mexican Ceviche. Their service was good too. The friendly waitress made the whole experience worth the trip. I truly recommend this place.

I love this place. The empanadas are awesome and the Milanesa too. Take care with the green mayo they serve you, it's great but you're going to have a hard time if you don't eat too spicy. All of their stuff is spicy I think so have that in mind. The servers are very friendly and the owner is a gentleman. Nice place if you want to eat good food.

We came here with a large group of friends. It was very busy on a Saturday night and luckily had reservations. We were seated in a semi-private area and that helped shield us from the loud restaurant. There was a band playing hits from the 90s in the bar. We ordered the crispy plantain chips as an appetizer. They were indeed crispy and slightly salty but boring. But the real star of the meal was the paella. We ordered the seafood paella for 2. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare and it is absolutely worth the wait. When the waiter brought it to the table, the whole group gasped because it really does take your breath away! It was served in a large, traditional paella pan. It could easily feed 3-4 people. I loved the flavor of the rice mixed with the different seafood and veggies. The rice could have been a little more crispy around the edges but other than that it was very good. The menu is extensive, so it's easy to find something that you will enjoy. The prices are fair considering the large portions. The service was very good.

Solid 3+ stars. - Decent size place, plenty of seating (but this does not mean you wouldn't wait on a Friday or Saturday eve) - Casual atmosphere - Live entertainment (maybe only on weekends?) - Large Menu with plenty of good options - Good size portions - Friends had sampler entree which was enough for 2 @ something like $24 - Cocktail menu is good however I'm a big fan of mojito's so I ordered their house special mojito and was immediately disappointed when I took a sip - come to find out they use Malibu rum (has coconut in it) as one of the ingredients...I could have avoided this by reading it's description in the menu but my Friday evening thirst minimized my ability to be concerned with and process small print - lesson learned - Service was decent and value was solid

Been eating here since it opened on windward. Love everything I've ever ordered. Lomo saltado, garlic wings, and masas de puerco my favs. Weird you have to wait almost 30 mins for chicken wings though. Service is always excellent and has great lunch deals. They have a house habanero sauce that is good. **they started charging for it now which sucks** one of my go to places whenever I want something good that's close by.

Amazing Cuban food! Fantastic service! We were in the area for one night, and wanted something different - didn't know what or who Mambo was! We had their Cuban sampler and Tres Leche Cake for dessert. Now I only wish we could stay longer so we could go back again and try something else! If we are ever in the Atlanta/Alphretta area in the future, this is already on the top of our itinerary!

Very impressed with the "new and improved" version of Mambo's. They recently relocated from their Haynes Bridge location some 2 weeks ago to a larger, well designed, open property on the corner of Hwy 9 and Windward Parkway in an outparcel attached to the Lowes shopping complex. Place was absolutely packed during lunch today, yet we were seated in a matter or minutes and food came out in less than 5 minutes after we ordered it. Service was top notch, courteous, and very attentive. Mambo's offers a well portioned sub $10 lunch menu of both their classic fare and sandwiches. Traditional beef, pork, and seafood dishes all prepared quite well. The normal dinner menu is also quite affordable around $15. There is a full bar in the corner and tvs are discretely hung throughout the restaurant. Nice to have a solid Cuban option back on Windward!

  • Lisa C.

We ordered the lomo saltado con tacu-tacu. The beef was a bit flavorless, although it did have a nice grilled flavor. However, the tacu-tacu was simply black beans and rice and not authentic tacu-tacu. This is real tacu-tacu: peruvianfood.com/wp-cont… While the atmosphere was lovely, including live music, we will probably find a better Peruvian restaurant.

Great bar to hang out in. Great bartender! Awesome food. I've tried several things on the menu and love them all. Have had both lunch and dinner there. Plan on going back soon. I have heard they need to get a bigger oven. The bread they bring with an awesome spicy sauce takes a little while to get.

Every time I'm in Georgia this is one of those places I HAVE to visit. Looks like they moved to a bigger location too... nice! Once again I had the churrasco w/ chimichurri sauce and it didn't disappoint. Can't get enough of that chimichurri sauce which pairs well w/ the meat. btw friendly staff and service too. Wished I had a pic to share but I just couldn't wait lol...

Very good food & service. First time visit, we'll be back!. Mambo salad & mojito were wonderful. Peruvian fried rice with scallions & grilled chicken was awesome. Bar took a wee bit long for our mojito but it was worth waiting for. Great neighborhood gem!

  • Amy T.

We ordered the Masas de Puerco (fried pork chunks). By far, the worst I have ever had. Mind you, I know how to season and cook pork. I have also eaten at several Cuban restaurants around here. These chunks had absolutely no flavor. Additionally, they were SO fatty. If the meat had been flavorful I would have still lost half of what I paid for if I opted to play Caveman and tear away the unwanted parts (fat). I deeply regret ordering the meals as take out because we could not return the meals to the kitchen. Nice bartender, nice looking restaurant but the Cuban food would have been the biggest draw for us and Mambo's failed us there.

Great food and staff. Food was fresh fast and portions were huge! Mojito was a tad to strong but the buzz more than made it ok after the fact. Run don't walk this place is amazingly special.

Great Cuban food. The Shrimp enchiladas is a staple for me. If you want something light they have a grouper in lemon butter sauce that is really good. you can get it in tilapia as well. Also pay attention to the specials they are usually really good as well. The Flank steak options have never been bad either and of course the dishes tossed with fries are good.

In town in business and randomly found this place. Ask for the Tapas menu so you can try more things. Honestly the best food I've had since I've been here. The flank steak and crab cake Tapas have so much flavor to match the decor and atmosphere. I loved it!

Finally!!! A good Cuban place in the metro Atlanta area. I'm from South Florida and had almost given up on any of the so-called "Cuban" places here until I tried Mambo's. Perfect, authentic black beans and rice, plantains and all things Cuban. They also have Peruvian dishes on the menu. Friendly, smiling service. Go here! It's the real deal.

  • DeeDee S.

Eaten here 3x for lunch since they've been in their new location & much larger dining space and full bar area. Nice, food the same quality and price; but I have to say the service has been off each time. Seated immediately but it seems to take a bit before someone takes your order, the waiter was all over the place and food didn't come out at the same time. Had to wait on black beans and I had to ask twice for some chopped onions on the side and hot sauce choice is only tabasco ??? Then had wait on the check and track down the waiter again. For lunch service, pretty slow. Anyway, will continue to eat here, but I hope they get their service "act" together.

I went to Mambo's for a quick bite and pretty satisfied with my experience. A fairly new addition to the Alpharetta restaurant scene, Mambo's deserves high praise for their food, service and decor. I ordered the mariquitas (thinly sliced plantains cooked until crisp, served with mojo sauce), tres leches cake, mango juice and a mojito. First of all, the drinks were incredible. The mojito was one of the best I'd ever had and mango juice tasted like someone stuck a straw in a ripe mango, it was great. The tres leches and the plantain chips weren't bad either.

I have been a fan of Mambos for years since it was the only true Cuban restaurant worth going to around here for years before Cafe Caribe opened up down the street from where I live. However, the food here has always been great and their new location is very nice. I am not a fan of their Vaca Frita, but their churrasco is one of the best I have had in Atlanta. Their empanadas are fresh and really good.

Came here for lunch. Left satisfied. Had their Churrasco ($9.95) - U.S. Choice outside skirt steak grilled with chimichurri sauce (garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil) It was good and filling. Comes with your choice of yellow or white rice and black beans. They also provided garlic bread for free with unlimited refills. Comes with this spicy green sauce. Was excellent. Service is great. Only drawback was their food took quite some time to come out even though we ordered in advance. will go back to try other menu items and update. Will definitely add this place to one our lunch places to go.

When you walk into a supposedly Cuban restaurant and more than half the staff is from other Spanish-speaking countries, that should be your first indicator that you are not going to experience an authentically Cuban dish. The croquetas we ordered were the kind you buy at Publix in the frozen food section and stick in the microwave. The steak tasted like cardboard. There were flies everywhere and the windows had caked on grease and you could tell no one had thoroughly cleaned this place in a long time. Their Peruvian dish we tried (pollo salteado) was just ok...nothing spectacular. I did not bother with the coffee or the desert because the meal was so disappointing. If I am bored one day I will give it another chance, but for now my quest for real Cuban food in Georgia continues.

Being from South Florida I just love Cuban food! I saw a deal on LivingSocial and gave it try! The restaurant atmosphere and decor was nice, however, the temperature inside was freezing on this 35 degree night. Our waitress (Morgan, I believe) was beyond nice! So friendly and helpful. We got 2 lechons and 1 Vera. The lechons were marinated with oranges which I've never seen before for this shredded pork dish. I didnt like that added flavor. All dishes came with black beans, rice, plantains. The sides were all delicious. The Vera had really great flavor. All-in-all I've had better Cuban food, even in Atlanta.

Our first time there ... The ambience was spectacular with love beautiful music ! For appetizers we had calamari and the fried plantain chips . The bread and green sauce are so good - hard to stop eating them . I ordered a delicious mojito since it was my bday :) The entree portions were huge !!! My husband had the Cuban style Milanese chicken and I had the Lamb shanks . Both were served with rice , sweet plantains, and black beans . The service was outstanding !!!! We had one waitor who was taking orders for about 6 tables and he was on point. This is a place to go back !!!

I really like this place. Potion is big so price is a bit high but well worth it. I usually order seafood dishes and all great. Kids and adult enjoy fluffy garlic bread very much! I LOVVEE the Aji Verde sauce come with it. Sooo yummy and addictive.

  • Chris N.

Great food but the service wasnt what I expected for our first time in. The waitress acted as if we had been coming there for years and knew the menu and restaurant. Kids menu was too expensive and they charged for the drink on top of that. The kids hamburger is the size of an adult burger, thus the higher price. Ordered a to go order for another family member. The cuban sandwich and wanted veggies instead of beans and rice or fries. The waitress came back and said that the "KITCHEN" said that we couldnt have veggies. We would have been willing to pay more to get what we wanted but that was an absolute no from the staff. Not sure I would let the KITCHEN run my restaurant. Will go back due to the taste but wasnt impressed with our first visit.

  • J R.

Hands down, the food is good. The new location is nicer but the food is still equally as good as when they were off of Haynes Bridge. Even with Peruvian ownership, they are able to capture the essence of "comida cubana". As a Cuban, it's the best in North Atlanta.

    (4)
  • Carol I.

Ok, I like to order fish. Not the place to do so, unless you like Basa. The fish is mislabeled and it has to be obvious to the owners-- to anyone that eats fish and cooks fish. So if you want sea bass or grouper, you will actually be getting Basa, a farm raised fish in the catfish family. It's tasty, but it ain't sea bass or grouper!

First time there and the food was delicious; however, service was slow. Ambiance was very nice and live music was very pleasing and quiet. I will definitely go back because the food is worth some of the drawbacks. The booths were like sitting in medieval benches 12 -feet off the ground. I couldn't touch the floor and my back was hurting within 2 minutes. We moved to a table with chairs which was very comfortable. They turned down the lighting so dark that I had to pull out my iPhone flashlight to read the menu. Other customers were doing the same thing. There were some other displeasures like a hair in my menu, but it might have been mine. The wine glass wasn't flush on the bottom so it wobbled on the table top, but it wasn't bad enough to ask for a new glass. The service started out good, but slowed to a snails pace by dinners end. Still, the food, ambiance and music were more than good enough to make up for the few drawbacks. I definitely recommend it.

New Location! I'm rating it 3 stars because I hope/feel they have room for improvement. I wrote my review about this place when it was located on Haynes Bridge about 2 years ago...Today's visit left me very disappointed however. I was excited that they had relocated to Windward which is closer to home and from my very first visit, it was the closest to good Cuban food in Miami that I had tasted here in GA. Postives: Better visual location than they had on Haynes Bridge, greater lunch crowd than previous location, full bar (before only served beer and wine), and much more upscale than previous location. Negatives: They are not yet prepared to handle the Alpharetta lunch crowd. There is only one bus boy, the hostest busses tables as well as the waiters and there is a lack of communication between the kitchen and front staff. Today's visit... my daughter and I chose to have lunch here around 12:30 pm. (We'd been on the look out for the OPEN sign which had been a week ago). I was excited to see how many cars were in the parking lot and expected a wait. We arrived at the door at the same time with another family. Being only two of us we allowed the other family to be seated first. After 15 minutes we were seated at the table near the door. The hostess sat us and asked what we would like to drink. She promptly brought our drinks. The waiters seemed confused on which tables they were working, but we placed our order for two Miami sandwhiches w/o tomatoes on both. After another 15 minutes we received bread from the bus boy (I had completely forgotten about this, but my daughter asked "aren't we supposed to get bread?" great memory!). After another 15 minutes, our waiter who I won't name came to ask if we wanted more bread, I declined by inquired about our food. He apologize for the wait and offer us additional bread (which is served with a spicy green dipping sauce-highlight of my meal). I declined again, but thanked him for the update. We (she being extremly observant) noticed that two tables seated after us had received their food and we still had not been served. I waited a bit longer and went to ask the hostess to check on our food, told her we had been waiting and she stated "I know". Another five minutes later, our waiter came back around to state that it was crazy in the kitchen and that our food should be out shortly. So almost an hour after we'd been there, the hostess delivers my plate and says she'll be right back wtih my daughter's. The manager delivers her plate. The sandwiches contained tomatoes on both (glad we didn't have a food allergy) and were warm, not hot. I complain to him and he extends his apologies and says it's his first week here and trying to get the kitchen together. He offers us a dessert, but I decline right now because we just got our meal. I have to pull our waiter aside to ask for napkins, he checks on us later and I ask what happened. He states he has no control over the kitchen and that my ticket was lost. I ask isn't his job to track my ticket and he says that he can only yell out to the kitchen on his orders. I stop him again to ask for a box and the check. I'm billed the full amount...no discount??? This completely frustrated me, not only did the manager not come back over to check on us, but they did not compensate for the inconvenience. I really hope Mambo's Cafe can get it together and make this a successful restaurant. After all, they are now competing with Mambo Jambo down this street which in my opinion is over-priced and under seasoned We do love their yuca fries though. Mambo's Cafe can be a great restaurant by prepping their staff to handle the Monday through Friday lunch crowd (increase your staff) as well as communication between the waiters and kitchen. A ticket should never be lost and if it was, the waiter should know exactly what their customer ordered. If not, empower them to verify with the customer. A server should know that no customer should ever wait over 30 minutes for their order especially when customers they've waited on after them received their food first. I hope to try Mambo's again later in the future. For now, I'll wait until they work out the kinks...

I was hungry as I wasn't able to eat any lunch today but at the same time I didn't have cravings for anything in particular. I read several of the Yelp reviews and decided to visit Mambo's Cafe. The atmosphere was really casual and open. The music in the background was soothing and not loud at all. I was immediately greeted and seated. Within a minute, my waitress Victoria approached the table and greeted me right away. After serving me the ice tea I asked for, I gave her my entree order. After taking my order, she informed me that bread will be served to me within a minute. She also informed me that the dipping sauce that will be served with the bread was hot as it was made with jalapeno and habanero peppers. OMG...it was awesome!! The entree I ordered was the Chilindron de Cordero - Lamb shank cooked in creole sauce. I added a picture of it! The presentation and seasonings were right on point. Victoria checked on me a couple of times to make sure everything was OK. At the end of the dinner, I paid for my meal with a credit card. She handed me the receipts for my signature and thanked me and used my name and said it was a pleasure serving me. It's the little things (in addition to the great food) that added to a wonderful dining experience.

New location is awful. Hard to find tucked behind a Lowe's in a nondescript plaza, but the place was packed for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. My wife had the Churrasco, which is the best thing on the menu. I had the Palomilla Cuban steak. Not too bad, but a little dry. I ordered mine medium, but I would recommend medium-rare on their steaks, as the cuts are very thin. Also, the garlic bread and spicy tomatillo salsa that they serve while you're waiting is delicious. Plantain, saffron rice and frijoles negros were tasty as well. The cafe con leche was also a nice treat after stuffing ourselves.

First time I've managed to get to their new location near Lowe's. The place is quite an upgrade from their old spot on Haynes Bridge. I was, however, concerned that the flavor went with the location and not the chef. I shouldn't have worried - the food is still wonderful. Don't expect fast food service - the main dishes seem made to order (don't get me wrong - service is quick enough and typically good). Don't eat too much garlic bread before your dish arrives - it's good but make sure you have room for the main course which will be tasty and plentiful. The tub of beans accompaniment are really good. the fried plantain is great - and I don't like banana (I know it's not the same but it's close enough for me). Finally, value is really good. I have no hesitation making a strong recommendation.

I've come here a few times for lunch and have enjoyed it very much. The service is great, very friendly and informative and the food is also very good. The portions are good and the sandwich selection is great. Would definitely recommend

Great food and latin flavors. I will recommend this place to anyone who loves latin food. Arroz chaufa with seafood is absolutely awesome.
