Overall, my Wife and I enjoyed AJ's. Great value for $8, (which includes drinks and tax!) in a no-frills, brightly lit, basic country fare eatery. Some dishes are quite salty, which I enjoy, my Wife not so much. Our waiter, Mo, was quite attentive and enthusiastic. The owner greeted us warmly. Interestingly, while we were there last night, a rather obnoxious fat-headed man was seated nearby, with cell phone on speaker and talking at maximum volume. He also demanded a special salad of "all greens" or some such be made for him, and was rude to the wait staff. Sounded like a New Jersey transplant. We were quite relieved when after 20 minutes of speaker phone blasting, Mo asked him to turn off his speaker phone, which he did. Thanks Mo! The wait staff was awesome in dealing with this jerk, keeping their composure admirably.

Price: For $8, this place is hard to beat! This includes tea/coffee and tax! 5/5 Food: The food was a really greasy (what did you expect) and was covered in breading. Perhaps too much breading. I recommend drinking something with lemon to degrease your taste buds. Their cheesecakes were soooo good. They have a rotating menu that cycles every week, so depending on the day you go, it might not be the same as the day before. 3/5 Service: Service is fast here. I came in on a crowded Monday lunch rush and the waiter was fast at cleaning up the empty dishes and refilling my water! Whenever I got up, the mess I made disappeared. 5/5 Give it a try if you enjoy greasy soul food. Prepare to have a food baby when you leave. You have been warned.

I enjoyed the food. But the cost is not $8. If you ask for a to go plate -- which is provided to you, the manager on duty looks at your plate and if he feels the plate is too full, you are charged an extra $2. It would appear if the container is provided, that would be the price. But it is not according to the one manager. Not happy with my experiences there twice. I will not be going back. It is that one particular employee who totally turned me against the place. The owner is different but she isn't always around. The owner charges the $8 as advertised but not the other worker. Not worth the hit or miss hospitality.

AJ's is a step above Sweet Potato over on Alpharetta Hwy, but that isn't a high hurdle to surpass. There actually are buffets that have decent food at decent prices, but neither of these places succeeds at delivering good food at a value price-point. The meatloaf was too sweet and too oniony. The mac-n-cheese was so salty that it was curious. The stuff kind of tasted as if it had cheap chicken bouillon in it...very, very salty and soupy. Salisbury steak? Gadzooks. It had the texture and flavor of cheap chopped-and-formed beef jerky. The gravy in which said Salisbury steaks were swimming was fairly tasty. The chili was more dark red kidney beans than meat and also was sweet. The good? Freshly-steamed cabbage without any additives whatsoever, still a bit crunchy. The Italian-style green beans were just like the Allen's brand out of a can, which isn't a bad thing. The home-style potatoes were okay. The greens were passable, although they also came from a can. The salad bar had fresh and crispy veggies. The staff was uniformly nice and efficient. The dining room was clean, although it was as lighted up as brightly as a surgical operating theater. There are hand sanitizer squirt bottles placed at the buffet, for those germophobes among us. As somebody else mentioned and I can confirm, the clientèle was almost uniformly elderly. Nothing wrong with that, as I'll hopefully get there one day and I miss my parents greatly. But palates apparently become insensitive to taste at some point during the aging process. AJ's is a hit with a certain demographic and will almost certainly disappoint everybody else. If you grew up with "home cooking" like the cooking offered here, I pity you.

I came here for lunch and left satiated! The food was good! There are various items on the menu that changes daily. I tried the fried chicken, baked chicken, sausage and peppers, black eye peas, collard greens, sweet potatoes and cornbread. A salad bar is available also. The blackberry cobbler and banana pudding was good as well. Ice cream is available also. A good value for $8. I am sure I'll be back, particularly when I do not want to cook.

I enjoyed AJ's very much and look forward to returning. I like the price and the food was great! Think I sampled everything on the buffet the last time I was in. Investigate for yourself sometime. :)

Wonderful, fresh food with a great staff that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Me and my boyfriend usually go after work for a quick takeout meal. My favorite day is when they have meatloaf and fried okra. Check their menu before going so you know what their cooking that day. Yum!

I enjoyed this food, but my daughter did not care for it. The fried chicken breast is different. They cut up a bone-in breast and fry that. So be careful. The breading was very good and the chicken was very tender, especially when it first comes out of the fryer. If it's been sitting for a while, go ahead and pass because the chicken will be dry. The collard greens are amazing, not mushy or overcooked. The mac and cheese tasted weird, and my daughter thought so as well. The salad greens and the tomatoes were perfect.

This is a solid little place. The food is a good quality and the service is very friendly. Throughout the week they rotate through a selection of items on their buffet line. I like that you can eat relatively healthy or stuff yourself - the choice is yours to make. The food is consistently hot and fresh. AJ's is a nice alternative to the "fancy" places in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised! The food was tasty and fresh. Not over cooked or bland. Older place but clean and service was attentive and polite. The best part is $8 for all you can eat buffet and includes tax and your drink! We will be back.

One thing that you can count on is for people and the world to be negative after reading previous reviews. If you are looking for a change from paying $7 or $8 for a chicken sandwich combo from chick fil a; then AJ's might be the place for you. They offer a daily rotating menu with different veggies, different meat (entree) choices, various desserts, tea and a salad bar all for $8 without tip. Not going to spend time dissecting everything that is offered, but the food is good and a needed change from $13-$18 lunches around this area. I would recommend anyone to give it a try and just go in with open mind.

In terms of price, this place is very reasonably priced. Adult was $8 and kids older than 2 is $4. The waiters and waitresses were really friendly and treated everybody with respect. They worked like they were having fun. In terms of food, I tried several things and really liked them. Mashed potatoes tasted good. Just like what you would expect out of real potatoes. Not the "fake" flour kind mash potatoes. This is the real deal fellars. The fried chicken were fresh too. The fried chicken was a mix of chicken legs, breast and thigh. Its really crispy and very well done. So is the country steak patty. Put some good ol country gravy on it and you're golden. They even have fried green tomatoes, haven't had them for a long time and loved it. Paired it with a small piece of baked chicken with some mac and cheese. The Mac and Cheese tasted good too. My son ate two helping of the mac and cheese. For desert, they have a good selection too. Selection includes fruits, cheesecakes, ice cream, banana pudding and etc. By the time I had a cheesecake I was so full. This place is good for family dining. I have not regretted one bit for choosing this place for dinner. The food were not anything exceptional, but good enough that I will go back with my family again, probably quite regularly.

Great selection of fresh cooked food, salad and desert. Most stuff is very tasty. You can eat healthy as well if you're disciplined as they have lots of vegetables. I go regularly. It's all you can eat but the wait staff are very attentive. There's always a friendly greeting. Oh, and the value is tremendous.

Love this place!! Food is great and cheap 8 bucks for all you can eat and tea. Freindly atmosphere and employees. Worth trying.

I went here today after reading the few reviews and wasn't impressed with the food. Nothing tasted homemade..it mostly seemed like it was made from boxed kits, rather than fresh ingredients. I was very disappointed with the peach cobbler, which was made with canned peaches. The veggies (green beans and lima beans) were very bland and the baked chicken was dry. I thought the mac n cheese, fried chicken, and sweet tea were pretty good, though. It seems like people like this place because it is inexpensive enough to get full without paying very much. I would go back, but only if we were looking for a cheap meal.

Just had lunch at AJ's and was pleased to find a home style buffet that had a good selection of vegetables and proteins. The catfish was fresh and lightly crusted, the fried chicken was crispy and moist. The other meats today included baked fish, roasted chicken, sausage with peppers and onions. The vegetables were not swimming in butter and were well seasoned for the most part. I tried them all -- green beans, creamed corn, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes, collard greens, cabbage, yams.... The buffet also includes a salad bar with wonderful deviled eggs. Dessert is included and individual cups of ice cream are available, just go open the freezer case and take your favorite flavor. The restaurant is bright and clean. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. Morris, the manager, made sure we knew each day had something different to offer. If you are looking for a well-priced meal and simple cooking, give this place a try.

The manager, and staff greet and are very attentive to your needs, and they are a really good team working together. Price is extremely reasonable ($8 including tax with tea, and coffee) for an all you can get buffet. Lots of choices of meats, fish (especially on Friday), veggies, and good traditional type salad bar. Every thing is very clean, bright, and comfortable.

Came here for dinner...this place is new to the neighborhood so we thought we'd try it out and were hoping that it would be good. Of course, that wasn't the case. If you are a foodie, don't even bother with this place. If you enjoy school cafeteria food or are over 70 you might like the food. It is only $8 dollars a person and it shows. I guess you get what you pay for. There is a Wal-mart next door and that is where I suspect all the food comes from. Out of a can, processed garbage...not fresh ingredients and the food was obviously sitting there for a while due to lack of customers. Crusted over gravy, cold, crunchy rolls, tasteless cornbread, dry carrot cake, slighly warm fried chicken, etc. Later on after eating, let's just say...was not so pleasant. Break out the Pepto Bismol. I will not be going back.

Friendly staff and apparently clean place but food quality below average imho. Price is good but overall nothing special. I don't see a reason to go back but I wish them luck...
