I really enjoyed the old style feel of place minus the paper table cloth. I got the tortellini with marina and found it to be bland. The bread that comes with your salad was ridiculous. If you are in Zephyrhills and want good pasta go to piccolo's. If the want good pizza go to Capri

I have to say that my most recent visit was a major disappointment. Normally I would not rate a place so low that I have had several decent meals at. However it's a mater of how they handle themselves when they screw up is what counts. And this fateful night they screwed the pooch in a big way. It all started with my wife and I saying hey let's go to Manolo's we haven't been there in awhile. So we get there order our food and the salads come out and all is fine. This is pretty important to us since we were very hungry to start. The bread was dry and wasted calories, but not a huge deal. I ordered the Manolo's calzone with eggplant, ham, mushrooms and onions. Sounds good to me plus it has some veggies which I always struggle finding at restaurants. Time goes by and the food comes out. The calzone looks amazing! Then I cut into it to find sausage, pepperoni and black olives. I don't care much for olives and was hoping for some veg but it tasted okay. I brought it to the attention of our server who quickly told me the sausage was eggplant. WTF!!! Then she preceded to blame the chef, then did not come back with an answer to why my meal is not what I ordered. After eating a little of my meal I kept feeling more and more neglected and pissed to be frank. I confronted the server one last time and she told me the chef prepared a Manolo's pizza in the calzone which has totally different toppings/fillings than the Manolo's calzone. WTF#2. Anyway there was no offer to compensate anything and there was no apology for getting the order wrong etc, etc. The situation could have turned out different if they had a little better customer service. I may not be a regular but I have spent a good share of money here over the past few years. Sadly I will not be spending much more.

Great food and nice relaxing atmosphere. Reminded me of New York or Boston. Manolo sauce on lobster ravioli was very good.

We ate at Manolo's tonight (Saturday 2/19/2011), and our meal was everything we expected. The salad was good, crisp, and fresh. I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs, it was excellent (the meatballs were PERFECT!), and my fiancee had the pasta with clam sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and will go back again if we are in town and in the mood for really good pasta. The atmosphere was good, the waitress was friendly and talkative, and there was even someone playing a piano when we walked in. The meal was average in price -- $40, including a 15% tip, for two to eat and drink.

My in-laws had a groupon for Manolo's and they are always trying to get us to come out to their neighborhood in Zephyrhills. First impression of this little restaurant was good, it's in a historic downtown "main street" district and the building itself looks vintage. The restaurant smells a little old but that can be expected by a building of its age. Our server was excellent. She told us what she liked and wasn't wrong on any of her suggestions. For an appetizer we got the bruschetta and the Gorgonzola flat bread. I peeled the cheese off of the bruschetta and it was great. The bread was crispy and the tomatoes fresh. Not a ton of food but it would probably be more filling with the cheese. I tried a little of the Gorgonzola flat bread since I'm not a dairy eater and it was good. The flat bread itself could stand to be crispy and if it was this dish would really stand out. The cheese is enhanced by the sweet onions topping the dish and the acidic dried tomatoes seemed weird at first but they worked. If the flat bread on this dish was up to par with the rest of the flavors, this would be amazing. Salads come with the entrees and they were okay. Simple spring mix salads with tomatoes and onions, nothing fancy. I got a couple pieces of old lettuce which is pretty gross, but it happens. The fresh bread needs to go. It tasted like Italian sandwich bread that you put a chicken parm on. It was warm which led me to believe it was fresh from the oven but even so, don't waste any calories on this. For our entrees, we tried three different dishes. The waitress recommended the two farfalle dishes, one rich with cheese and veggies, the other a lemon butter sauce with chicken. My family got those dishes and I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. It comes with melted mozzarella on top which I omitted from my order. I tried a bite from each of theirs and we all agreed the lemon pasta was the winner. Not as rich as the other and really delicious. Not sure if the pasta was fresh or dried. Mine was blech. The eggplant was soggy and no crisp coating. Again, maybe the cheese would have made this better but it would have probably just made it soggier. Mine came with some spaghetti and marinara sauce that was so so. For dessert, we got the cheesecake and canollis. I didn't try the cheesecake but had a bite of my husbands cannoli which was super. A hint of cinnamon and truly delicious. I'm no cannoli expert so I have no idea how authentic it was but it was terrific.

For a small town like Zephyrhills where a lot of the residents invade the town during the peak winter months up north (Snow birds), this is a really nice and family friendly Italian cuisine experience. I have been here several times and have had a good experience The decor is like you walked into a memorabilia center for all things involving Italy and the movies. You see Godfather posters and all kinds of Italian kitchen trinkets upon the wall. I like the touch of the old wine bottles on the tables to hold a candle. It reminded me of Lady and the Tramp...although I'm not sure which one of them I was :) The food is great here. I always get the classic lasagna. The bread is great as well. The servers are friendly, mostly younger college age students. So, the follow up on drink refills isn't the greatest. THe timeliness of the food is also a bit slow. But I don't mind this as this is a great place to relax and unwind from a long day and catch up with your spouse or go on a date. It opens itself up for a great place to get to talk. Another aspect I like is that they have a live pianist on the weekend playing classic rat pack standards along with some traditional Italian arias and art songs sprinkled in. Great vibe, good food, and if you have the right company, a good time!

What a great place to eat. I have had both their pizzas and pastas and can honestly say its made from scratch and a true italian touch is put into making the food. The atmosphere is nice too. Make an effort to eat here. You will be glad you did.

This was our first visit to Manolo's and we can honestly say it will be our last. We purchased a "Groupon" to try this place out. The Groupon stated a reservation is required, which we had no problem doing. After we were seated we were given a limited menu for Groupon menu items. I asked to see the regular menu as well, which I did receive. It was explained the Groupon menu items were the most popular dishes, which looked fine to us. The Groupon consisted of 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. After we placed our order, we waited quite awhile for the appetizer to come. Along with the appetizer came our salad, which I thought was odd since they should have come at separate times. As we're dining on our salad and appetizers, we paid close attention to meals delivered to other tables around us. We did this due to reading other reviews about the portions being much smaller for Groupon patrons. We thought this can't be true. Why offer Groupon if this is the practice, Well they were right! The lasagna my husband received was half the size of a portion delivered to another table. I ordered Tortellini which was also a smaller portion compared to the non Groupon portions. The canollis was no longer than my husbands finger. More like a mini dessert. Service was very slow. My husband asked if bread comes with the meal, and we were told yes. Had we not asked for bread, I don't think we would have received. Also, long delay for beverage refills. Overall, the meal was fair. I believe if Manolo's wants patrons to return without using Groupon, they would have offered same portion size across the board. We felt very divided from other guests. I noticed a party of 4 coming in, and as they were seated, one couple received the Groupon Menu and the other couple received the regular menu. I'm sure they felt as disconnected as we did.

My wife and I were so disappointed. If Manolo's wonders why their restaurant with the wonderful atmosphere and good food is not doing the business they want it is because the service is terrible. After being greeted and seated we sat and sat. The hostess came by to ask if a waitperson had come to our table as yet, not yet. We sat and sat, finally the waitress came and took our entire order. We sat and sat until finally our appetizer arrived along with the drinks. The appetizer was good but lacked flavor. Then we sat and sat, drinks were dry. The waitress appeared and took our request for more drinks. We sat and sat until again the waitress appeared with our salads and one drink. The waitress appeared again with two bread rolls. I asked again for another drink and was assured it would be coming shortly. We sat and sat util finally my drink arrived. Again we sat and waited, finally our entrees arrived, my wife had the lasagne and I the shrimp scallopini. The lasagne was excellent but the shrimp again lacked flavor. The shrimp tasted as if they were boiled rather than being cooked in the garlic and butter. After an hour and a half we were so disgusted and disappointed we skipped desert, paid the bill and left. Too bad, it has the potential of being great.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
