If you choose something other than this lovely cafe you've made the biggest culinary mistake of your life. Go there. Now. Seriously. I'm not kidding.

This is one of those places that you love and can never get into because it's always so full. Great food (mostly fried) and charming wait staff. I highly recommend if you are able to get there before they sell out of your favorite plate. This is a great example of a restaurant that plays to their strengths.

Had dinner here tonight and it was EXCELLENT! Looked for something local and this looked like the spot and it didn't disappoint! For dessert the five of us ate off a slice of coconut cake and it was the BEST! If you are in Wildwood ... This is a great place. One of our group who happens to be 93 worked in this building when she was 19 and it was the bank!! Wonderful dinner and visit with friends! Great experience!

Of all the places I've eaten, this was THE best I've had in a very long time. The decor reminds me of my Granny's house and the food and service was 5 star. We can't wait to return!

I was charmed by the restaurant, staff, menu and the great old bank building it's located in! This place is dedicated to southern food and they do a good job. There were lots of great looking options. My dinner was very good if not the best I've even had. I also loved the home style table settings of china and silverware, ambrosia served in cut glass etc. This place was bustling when we arrived and left, note that it can get pretty noisy. If you're in the area or driving by it's well worth your time to stop by!

We did not need reservations for lunch during the week. I had the train wreck and it was worth every penny! I had enough left over for another meal.... My husband ordered the shrimp dish and said it was good. The atmosphere is different as being set up in an old manor type house with many different old tables and chairs and tablecloths. Decor is like an old plantation and cute.

We decided to eat here based on the reviews. Food was great. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the seafood platter. Whole fried it was not overly breaded and greasy. House salad dressing was refreshing, with a sweet and tangy note. Save room for dessert and the cakes and pies are great. The carrot cake was very moist and chewy, just how I like it. Noise was a problem as the space is tight and there's nothing to deaden the sound. Since most of the clientele are retirees from The Villages they may be hard of hearing and talk too loud to compensate. It was hard for us to have a conversation. Reservations are a must.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch after hearing great reviews from people. We were seated right away in a glass topped two top table with a white table cloth and a window view. The restaurant is decorated in an old southern theme with antiques. The menu has to be studied because of the unusual selections. We settled on splitting a Good Ol' Boy their version of a "Po Boy", served with lettuce, fried green tomato, & their own homemade Creole sauce. We also added a side salad as well. The sandwich was awesome with the tomatoes and the creole sauce creating a great topping for the crispy catfish! The salad was good with strawberries and pecans with a great dressing. To top off our fantastic lunch we chose to also split a piece of 4 layer coconut cake. Wow! The best I've had. The deserts are a reason to visit on their own. We can't wait to return for a "supper" as they call it, "dinner" is their lunch. Give it a try, you can't be disappointed! Check out their website for the menu.

Oh my... Just thinking about eating here raises my blood sugar level to danngerous levels. To die for (everything's good here, no complaints, but here are the highlights): Shrimp and grits, my fav and absolutely delish. Chicken and waffles The salads, especially the shrimp salad, or the chicken. The Train Wreck The desserts. I'm not given to eating desserts, but OMG. They're all wickedly deadly: they're as close to having an oral orgasm as you can get in public and not get arrested. I'd weight 400 pounds if I was tempted to eat one with every meal. The downside: getting a reservation. Dita, you've got to eat here with your hub.

Fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. This lunch was the food highlight of our stay in the area. I had the turkey, Swiss And bacon sandwich and my daughter had the open faced meatloaf sandwich. Both were delicious! We shared coconut cake for dessert. It was a huge slice and it was moist and delicious!!!! I would go again and again!

This place is awesome! Great service and the food is scrumptious. Try the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles or the train wreck. Don't forget to save room for desert. The Key Lime Pie is perfect. The decor of this place is adorable as well, it's like antiques roadshow southern edition! Be sure to check out the larger bathroom in the back. Very funky!

We were entranced as soon as we entered this restaurant! Absolutely enchanting with the southern charm! The servers were polite and efficient. The food was spectacular! Being a vegetarian was not problematic. My Mayberry Salad was as delicious as it was colorful. My husband raved about his serving of meatloaf on a special, toasted bread; drizzled with a sauce; topped with an onion ring; and complimented with sweet potato fries. The tall glass of iced herbal tea sweetened with stevia and adorned with fresh mint was superb. The desert table looked inviting but our willpower won ---- this time! The interesting menue is quite varied for a cafe. We hope to return soon and often! Yes, we highly recommend Miz Kathi's Southern Coltillion Cafe!!

This is great place, as you are coming off the highway, to step back in time and enjoy both the quaint ambiance and a memorable light lunch. We had a chicken salad sandwich, plate and broccoli quiche. All excellent and finished with a fresh macaroon.

Good ol southern cooking. The corn bread to start is great. The chicken and waffles were fantastic. All of the cakes and pies are very rich. Enjoy!

Wow the food was amazing, great service, fun place. We shared a few sides and a salad. The salad was huge, almost enough for four period. Desserts were unbelievable. I need to go back especially to try the other cakes.

It was a wonderful decision to stop for a late lunch with my daughter in law and her grandaughter. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it was piled high with delicious popcorn shrimp fried with a light batter. we were seated near the awesome display of huge and fantastic looking cakes which had us all fantasizing which we were going to have but after our awesome meal there was no room to indulge. I did feel sorry for the spouse left at home and requested a banana pudding to take home to him. The size of the order of pudding was huge and decorated beautifully. I sneaked a taste and it was so good I couldn't begin to describe it. My only complaint is there is no room in the restaurant when it is full. You are seated elbow to elbow with the next crowded table but that is a minor thing considering the outstanding food and service.

Outstanding best restaurant in Florida north of Orlando, not far from the intersection of I75 and the Turnpike.

Adorable place with amazing food! This is what southern cooking should look and taste like. We had the Train Wreck: Cheese grits under homemade baked beans and bbq pulled pork and the Open Faced Meatloaf Sandwich: Toast under mashed potatoes and meatloaf topped with onion rings. And a side of Sweet Potato Fries. Everything was sooooo good. Hubby managed to lick the plate of the train wreck but I had to box some of my meatloaf up to bring home. We did manage to get some Salted Caramel Cake down with some coffee. I have to say the cake was not as good as I'd expected but then there were many other desserts I could have tried. I will definitely go again...and again!

Stopped for lunch on way back from Pensacola. Saw it was a about 5 miles off 75, hesitated at first. But the reviews told me I should go. Glad we did. Cute little place - capacity 48- but very well decorated like old southern home. Dishes don't match, neither does silverware. Different tablecloths on each table. Cute as heck. Husband had the Big Daddy Meatloaf and I had the pulled pork sandwich. The southern taste of good food with today's presentation. Glad we stopped!

Yum yum yum. We had a train wreck and a thanksgiving Thursday. I wish it was dinner so we could have had cake. Looking forward to next time!

Very good food, very quaint atmosphere. I had the redneck cuban and she had the chicken salad plate with pumpkin bread. Loved the ambiance and the music mix was actually pleasant with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

OMG! Is this place ever gooooood!!! Be sure to call ahead for reservations to make sure there is space for you because it is very popular! And small and cute and DELICIOUS! I had the shrimp salad croissant with sweet potato fries! Hubby had hit turkey open face with mash n gravy n cornbread stuffing. Everything was wonderful! And we shared a huge piece of key lime pie for dessert. Wow! I asked Hubby to take me back for Valentines it was all so good.

Been in the north, been in the south and lived in the west, this place is small in seating but big on taste and atmosphere! Lunch was :train wreck, Oaks BBQ, chik&waffles & meat loaf tried by the 4 ladies on our day trip. Try the first 3. Aw, meat loaf I make at home but good smashed potatoes. The 3 desserts we took "to go: hummingbird, coconut cake, & a, yeah, hoochie Momma. Had to swim off the calories tonight~enjoy!!!

I had lunch here the other day and it was excellent! The place is a cute space located in an old bank building. It has a homey and chill vibe. I ordered the crabcake, fried green tomato sandwich served with cheesy grits and I at every last bite. It tasted like heaven, it was served hot/warm, it was seasoned perfectly, I could see the chunks of fresh crab meat in my sandwich, and the grits were so smooth, like a baby's bottom. The whole place was decked out in fun Halloween stuff and their cookbook was available for you to read during your meal. Towards the end of my meal, the chef/owner, Kathi, even came by and said hello. Such Southern hospitality. :-) They had cute aprons and their own vanilla, spices, and other stuff you can buy so you can eat and shop at the same time. If you're ever in the area, you have to check this place out, it was delicous!

Breaking news...I had the pineapple, coconut cheesecake pie and I'm in love. It is one of the most scrumptious desserts I've ever had. I'd drive out of my way especially for a slice of it. Must try!!

We went here on the recommendation of a friend for a family birthday celebration. We had so much fun trying all the different items on the menu and sharing because it was so hard to decide on just one item. The desserts were fabulous too. We liked it so much, I had to take my mother back again while I was visiting her and she has since insisted that she needed to take her friends there for lunch. I decided I would have to get a gift certificate for her to this restaurant so she can go back when I am not available to take her. It is so popular, make sure to make a reservation as there is limited seating.

This place is very cute, a old bank. The corn bread is excellent, sweet tea is good. Didn't like the lemonade, to tart but other people at the table did like it. The soup was delicious, the salad dressing is very good. The mashed patatos were yummy. Now the main dishes. the presentation of the food is outstanding! in the people that work there were extremely nice But, the ribs were dry, the chicken and waffle; way to many waffles. Husband wasent impressed with it. I had the chicken and dumplings, the pastry didn't have much taste and there was a lot of chicken in the dish but that was about it. didn't have desert but they looked good. It was my first time there and my family 2nd. They said the first time was a lot better. I guess hit or miss with the main dishes.

This place is crazy busy...filled to bulging with happy folk who seem to feel like family here. Loved the good southern cooking: grits like I'd never imagined grits to taste...cornbread with maple butter was to die for..even the greens were flavored to perfection.

I live close by in The Villages and last night we went out with 2 other couples to celebrate a birthday. They did a wonderful job! The butterbean soup was great and the house dressing on the salads was also quite good. I had the country fried steak served over grits and it was delicious. My wife had the chicken and also loved it. Others at our table had the chicken pot pie and the meat loaf. Everyone said they loved their meals. For dessert I had a HUGE slice of key lime cake and wound up taking most of it home. I recommend this place because not only is it different from anything else around (southern home cooking), but because they do a great job with it. If you want alcohol you have to bring your own and they charge a small corkage fee.

Located in an old bank building, this restaurant seems a little too upscale for laid back Wildwood. The service is good, selections are generous, and deserts are memorable. The shrimp and cheese grits were excellent. The prices are a little higher than our comfort level.

This is the best Southern food in Florida. Possibly the best Southern food period! Go and be sure to buy some fresh jams to take home with you and a their cookbook so you can attempt to recreate the goodness at home.

If your looking for real southern atmosphere with real homemade food and cake that would put Paula Dean to shame. Than this is your kind of place. Just remember than when you make it from scratch it takes longer. They are not fast food and it will take you a little time to get severed.

Wonderful southern comfort food. I had fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, and grits and it was fabulous. I took a slice of Hummingbird Cake to go. It turned out wonderful as well. A pleasant surprise for this northerner who'd never heard of the curious-sounding cake before. The restaurant is so cute too--very homey in decor. It's in an old bank. The only thing that wasn't so great was that I went during a peak time--there were several very large parties, so I wasn't acknowledged for several minutes. As a former restaurant employee, I understand how busy it gets, but it was awkward since I was a party of one and didn't know if I should seat myself or wait to be seated. It was the latter. Also, I would totally go back if they were open on Sundays or Mondays--my weekend! I haven't been back yet, but I want to. Next time, I'll rope a friend into going with me, and make reservations.

Great southern home cookin'. They have their cookbook on every table. As my wife, whose Mother was a 'lady of the south', thumbed thru the book she exclaimed, "...these are my Mom's recipes!" And their deserts are to die for. Try the tall salty caramel cake--one serving is enough for two. Great place for flavors. Not so good if you're looking for healthy recipes and preparation.

We heard about this place from our chaffeur that took us from the airport. It is a small family run place on Main Street in Wildwood, 5 minutes from the villages. It is BYOB with a 2.50 corking fee--I would ask them to wave this next time. It was an interesting dining experience for this group of yankees. Food was very good. We started with the fried green tomatoes, cooked perfectly, and some pimento cheese. The chicken and waffles was different than what we are used to but still good. Chicken fried steak was best I ever have seen or tasted, and the highly recommended fried shimp were light and crispy, served with an ingenious combination of mash potatoes and grits. Green beans delicious and truly southern in flavor. My daughter got the Mac and cheese entree which she didn't like but I loved, chalk it up to to many years of boxed Kraft Mac and cheese!. But the deserts! I am not much of a desert person but the cakes were extraordinary. We were too full to eat them there so I had to get them to go. I ate mine a few hours later while watching the History Channel. Pieces are big enough for 2 or even 3 people, so split them. And my mother in law, a relentless souvenier hound, bought the owners cookbook. You need a reservation and don't be late: another party was 2 minutes late and the server gave us their table! And they are also open for breakfast and lunch.

This little cafe is adorable and full of southern charm. The food is amazing. I couldn't resist picking up a copy of Miz Kathi's cookbook. One caveat, this is not the place to stop if you're in any kind of a hurry. If you have time for a leisurely lunch it's a perfect place.

Super good. Packed at 1:30 on a Friday so I agree make a reservation if you can. Had been dying for a great burger for the last few days and tried one here. Wow!!! One of the best I've ever had. Also, took a little longer for them to make but the chips are the best. Cole slaw is great. Really everything is great. The employees are super helpful and friendly. Only knock is that it is a little slow to get food, but that is normal for the south and for homemade perfect food. Highly recommend.

Was recommended to go here with friends for dinner. We were six in our party, & yes, you need to call ahead as it's a small dining room. The menu has a vast selection, & has wine & beer. The service was great & we all enjoyed our food. All in our party agreed that we would indeed come again & will definitely recommend this charming, southern cafe to others.

Absolutely loved this place! The food and atmosphere was terrific!! I had the fried green tomatoes...a must have appetizer. Their salad dressing was sooo good (I bought the mix to have at home), the crab cakes for dinner were excellent and you MUST leave room for desert...I had the best cheese cake of my life (and this is coming from a bakers daughter)! This particular night it was Pina Colada Cheesecake...OMG. As for the staff...so friendly and welcoming. A wonderful night.

This is a quaint little place in Wildwood that serves up the best Southern home cooking this town's laid eyes on. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended as there are about 10 tables total and this place gets full quick! They are known for their house dressing and are in the process of selling the recipe to a food manufacturer. It's THAT good! Even if you dislike salad, ORDER THE HOUSE SALAD. If you are allergic to lettuce, ORDER THE DRESSING IN A CUP! I am not kidding! This dressing is AMAZING!!! I can't wait for it to hit the shelves in grocery stores. They do sell a bag of their dry ingredients in which you can take home and mix the wet ingredients and have the dressing to yourself. Everything here is delicious, you can't go wrong! The owner/chef, Ms. Kathi, also bakes all of her desserts fresh in her tiny kitchen. They had about 8 different cakes that were freshly baked when I went for lunch. This is the type of place you can take a date and not only give them one of the best meals of their life, but impress them by showing them a personal side of Wildwood and tickling their tongue with the Southern touch that Cotillion delivers.

What a special place! Great food, decor and service. I had the "Train Wreck", cheese grits, beans and pulled pork - with a coating of bubbly cheese! Wife had a delicious berry-based salad. Lots of salad/sandwich options. Wish we weren't just passing through as this place looks like a real winner.

I'm someone who lives to eat and taste--and am often disappointed. As a demanding cake lover, demoralized by claims of "home-made" meaning baked in house, or "from scratch" meaning they measured Bisquick and added water, I found eating Cotillion's home-made coconut cake an ecstatic experience. Although the tall, old-fashioned cake looked beautiful, the cake itself tasted wonderful, never mind the perfect coconut cream filling and the coconut covered icing. And free from the all-pervasive chemical tastes that are disgusting to some of us. Rich, yes! Generous serving, yes! And a dazzling array of other sweets to choose from. I'm ignoring the very good food, (picture a sprig of fresh rosemary as garnish to the turkey and stuffing) because my quest for a homemade truly great tasting cake was utterly fulfilled at Cotillion. To save myself from severe sugar damage, I nibbled at it for days. Heaven. Utter fulfillment. Hope rewarded. I drove out of my way to discover Cotillion, and will return.

Took my wife out to dinner for her birthday. We did not have a reservation but called ahead and were told to come at around 7pm. We showed up at 7pm and the place was packed. However, they managed to squeeze us in regardless. The owners, Jim and Kathi, are gracious hosts and go out of their way to make their customers feel welcome. I had the cracker chopped steak with mashed potatoes and my wife had the meatloaf. Both dishes were excellent with very generous portions. I'm not a collard greens fan, but I must admit that these were the best I've ever tried. The restaurant is small and stays very busy, a sign that the food is good. Expect a bit of a wait if you show up unannounced. And this really isn't a hang out for the young as most of their customers are from The Villages. But if you like good, southern cooking, you can't beat Cotillion Southern Cafe. And don't forget to try the banana pudding or some of Miz Kathi's amazing pie or cake. Just expect to gain a few pounds before you leave.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. Authentic southern food in an unparalleled atmosphere. The fresh made cakes are to die for, so save room. The dinner menu is outstanding. You must try the cheesy grits and shrimp. You won't be disappointed.

  • Cheryl S.

Extremely disappointed! I had heard and read rave reviews about The Cotillion and my experience a month ago did not match either, unfortunately. When I frequented the restaurant, I ordered one of their specialties, meatloaf. I ordered a cold meatloaf sand which which I had expected to be hearty and delicious. Unfortunately it was neither. The meatloaf slices were thin and tasted ordinary. The bread used for the sandwich was stale and small. Even eating very slowly, it took me about a minute and a half to finish it! I had also ordered a bowl of collard greens which were satisfactory. I left the restaurant still hungry and not very pleased that it had cost a bit under ten dollars for an unsatisfactory, tasteless sandwich and a small bowl of collard greens!!

Fun place for lunch in the middle of FL. If you are passing through on the way to or from Disney - stop in Wildwood for a real Southern treat.

  • Jason L.

Can't comment on the food because getting seated was too complex for this staff, even for an early lunch on a weekday. Granted we did not have reservations, but we were prepared to wait. Our hostess said we'd be seated in 20-30 minutes but we waited over 40. When I approached the hostess, another staff member jumped in and said we weren't around for our table (a lie). It was an hour of my life I'd really like back. Atmosphere is geriatric to say the least.

Great food, great atmosphere, gracious host.... They are always packed! We love the Chicken and Waffle and the Train Wreck! My daughter who is very picky loves the train wreck and was able to eat the entire plate! How can you go wrong with this one - grits, BBQ beef, baked beans and more.. all in one plate! The display of cakes looks so good but always is too full to get dessert, maybe next time. If you re ever in Wildwood make sure you stop by and try something.... everything in the menu looks good!! Will definitely come back!
