We had an awesome day kayaking down the Weeki Wachee River and wanted something equally awesome to eat. So we whip out our trusty phones and bring up Yelp... wonderful - there's a great place just up the road with lots of 4 and 5 star reviews. Oh, and there's this thing called Crunchy Fish that we should really try. Ok! My dears, when this many reviewers all say the same thing about the same place .... BELIEVE IT! EAT HERE! The food is awesome. The place is awesome. The people are awesome. You will not regret it. I had the Growler Burger and it was fantastic. We started out with an order of Fish Dip and it is an authentic taste of the Florida Keys. My partner got the crunchy fish platter with mac & cheese and coleslaw. I am not a huge fan of coleslaw but I ordered it with my burger and ate it all. I kept stealing bites of fish off my partner's plate - because it was so tasty!!! We had a persnickety dining companion who is particular about everything on creation and tried to order the Fish Reuben with the fish on the side. Kim came out and explained that she'd be better off getting a fish platter with coleslaw, because by the time the sandwich was deconstructed, it wasn't really the sandwich anymore. Some people might not agree with this because of the mentality that the customer is always right - but that's simply not true. A good chef knows their food and knows when to suggest something more appropriate. When the chef comes out of the kitchen, eat your freaking cornflakes! (No, seriously, the crunchy fish is coated in cornflakes and almonds and it is freaking fantastic!) We will definitely be back!!

Ate today at Becky Jacks for the first time This is a casual indoor/outdoor lunch, dinner and beer joint, appropriately called a Shack. Food, service and prices were very good. Specials each day. Try the Crunchy Fish sandwich. Located about five minutes west of Highway 19.

If you are within a 30 mile radius this is 100% your best option. Possibly beyond 30 miles but I didn't extend my search that far. Amazing food. Jalapeño hushpuppies - to die for. Blackened fish - I wish I could eat this every day. More local beers on tap than that 'brewery' 10 miles south. Staff is friendly and helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

The food was delicious and so was the service. I would definitely go back. I had a burger that was one of the specials and the owner even came out to see what we thought about the food.

I had the crunchy fish tacos and they were delish! Hubs had the crunchy fish sandwich and really enjoyed it too! The pictures that are posted from past reviewers show just how large the fish filet is on the sandwich. Becky Jack's is a small place and there are some tables outside for those who wish to enjoy outdoor dining. Wait staff seemed friendly and the diners mostly seemed to be regulars to the place. Can't wait to return!

If you're going for posh or fabulous decor, then you may wanna go elsewhere. If you're going for amazing, tasty & satisfying food, then you MUST eat here. We had the crunchy fish platter & crabbiest patties sandwich which both were lip smacking ummm ummmmmm good! The coleslaw was fantastic. The one thing that kept this from being a 5 was the much raved about Mac-n-Cheese. We weren't really impressed with it. Other than that, this is some serious slap yo mama kinda food. The mussels were on special & my eyes about rolled to the back of my head. Simple presentation & not a grain of sand to be found. Enjoyed lunch with a Lawnmower ale. Forget all those chains and have some stomp up in da kitchen real food!

This place serves INCREDIBLE fried fish sandwiches! Thank you to all of the other Yelp reviewers for recommending this place. My husband had the crunchy fish burger, and I had the crunchy Reuben. My husband read about the crunchy sandwich on Yelp and he loved it. The waitress recommended the crunchy reuben to me, and though I don't usually eat fried food, it was worth it!! Possibly the most delicious fried food I've ever eaten. The corn flake coconut fish fry breading mixed with the thousand island was....oh so incredible!!! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Spring Hill!

Another nice restaurant with a feel as if this were more the real Florida, not the chains along the main roads nearby it. The staff was welcoming and the portions were large for the price. Their signature fish is the swai; it's flat, flaky, and mild.

Wonderful food, fast and friendly service! The crunchy fish was super yummy and the kids had a very cheesy grilled cheese. Thanks! Kim in the kitchen was extra helpful when she learned we were here visiting.

Small roadside eatery. Doesn't look like much - but stop in and enjoy! Friendly staff. Great food. Had the fish sandwich, gumbo, and tuna tacos. Everything is fresh. Fish is fried in a batter made with corn flakes and almonds.....awesome. Large portions.

First time here. In town for the weekend only and found this place on Yelp. Ordered a cup of Gumbo ( 4.50 ) and it was very good. My Wife had the Crunchy Fish ( Swai ) Sandwich ( 8.00 ) rolled in corn flakes & almonds with french fries. Too crunchy and cooked too dark. The batter over powered the fish which is mild tasting and commonly used instead of the more expensive Grouper. I had the Crabbiest Patties BLT on Texas Toast with french fries ( 8.00 ). Tasty, but it took 2 patties to make a sandwich. Service was slow but we were able to sit outside with our dog. Most reviewers seen to like their food so I would try something different if in the area again.

Update: As deelish as ever! Super friendly service. You'll definitely feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. Food is great. Atmosphere is terrific. Funky. Fun. BeckyJack's is on the road (50) that goes out to Bayport, Pine Island, etc. It's an unassuming building that stands alone and has plenty of blacktop parking. We arrived shortly after they opened at noon on a Thursday. Luckily, it was early and we were seated immediately. The place seats less than 30 customers Currently, a flip-flop wreath adorns the door. A typical funky & fresh decoration at BeckyJack's. The place is tiny, but packed with hilarious signs and odd &ends. I find something new each time I look around. There is a little bar that seats 4 right in the eating area. They serve liquor. A good selection of craft beers. The settings are mismatched, as you'd expect. They have regular menus, plus specials. The specials are written on small brown paper bags. Today I sale mussels, clams, sriracha sweet potato fries, etc., etc. Good variety. Not all seafood. Servers were attentive, but not hovering. We got great suggestions and our server answered several questions with ease and know-how. If you have out of town guests, they'd enjoy BeckyJacks. I won't go into the food, because it has gotten of many reviews. Go there if you want something different, but yummy.

This place is amazing. We live in Los Angeles but I'm from the area, and now whenever we're in town for holidays or visits we make sure to go to BeckyJacks at least once, if not twice. The fried fish (either the sandwich or the platter) is all you'll ever need out of your life. Between the amazing crunchiness, the hint of sweetness, and the piping hot deliciousness of the actual fish itself, every bite is a dream. Also a dream? The incredible craft beer selections. Yes, we choose eating establishments based on their beer selection, which means when I'm back in Florida I'm often disappointed. But not so at BeckyJacks. Their list is well-curated, with something for everyone, and they place an emphasis on local Florida beers. Kudos all around!

The best crab cake blt sandwich ever!!! I heard the fish tacos are good but I can't get past those crab cakes! Craft Beers on tap. Should be on an episode of triple D!

This is a small establishment but they certainly utilized their space. Servers friendly and knowledgeable. My husband loves the crispy fish and awesome hamburgers. My favorite is the blackened fish and wonderful five bean salad. We have been staying in area since December and probably have eaten here the most of all our many dining experiences! Great food and florida feel

Crazy Good! Only 4 stars b/c its super small and some how our server failed to realize she hadn't taken our meal order. The jalapeño hush puppies are Super as was the Oyster Reuben, the crunchy fish was spectacular and the crab balls were better than average.

Found this place on yelp after visiting Weekie Wachi park. It's about 3 mins drive from the park. Three of us ordered burgers- they were huge and very tasty. Cooked to order and done medium rare as I requested. The boyfriend ordered the fried fish- it came with two sides and he said it was so delicious. Had a nice crunchy coating and they give you malt vinegar if you ask. Only thing we didn't love was the Mac and cheese. It was kinda bland and mushy. The beer selection was pretty good if you're into craft beers. The four of us were out the door for $48 including beers. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing. It's hard to find a good, non-chain restaurant in this area, and BeckyJack's is hopefully setting a new standard for restaurants in the area. The menu is small, but everything that is on that menu is cooked extremely well. I always go for the Tuna Tacos, and they are exquisite. The tuna is seared to perfection, and the portion is huge. This is a fun place with limited seating, which makes it feel cozy and like a big family dinner.

After seeing the glowing Yelp reviews, I expected an amazing, fresh seafood meal at a great price inside a comfortable (and slightly touristy) eatery. I came here expecting to love the food that was so revered by the locals. There was even a sticker on the window outside that said "People love us on Yelp!". The first thing that put me off after the long wait for seating was being served water in a small plastic cup, similar to the ones you'd find next to a water cooler. I feel like an actual water glass is the minimum. On top of that, they added bottled lemon juice instead of an actual lemon slice. These little things add up, and they made the experience feel cheap. Regardless, I was hungry and already committed at this point. The interior was an assault on the senses. The table was wet and still had crumbs on it from the past party. Neon lights dotted the walls, loud music played off-and-on, dollar bills were EVERYWHERE and there was even a burlap marijuana bag stapled to the wall, along with dozens of mismatched decorations and license plates from various states. I ordered the crunchy fish sandwich with fries. I actually smelled cumin on the fries, and that was very interesting and unusual! Regrettably, the fries were very bland and thick, meaning that they were cooked unevenly and not salted. The piece of fried fish was huge. Not just huge, it was enormous. It was easily three times the size of the bun, which looked like a plain hamburger bun purchased from a grocer. I guess at that point I was expected to assemble the sandwich myself (DIY lunch!), so I cut off a piece of fish and put it inside the hamburger bun. It was actually very pleasantly crispy, however the only noticeable taste was that of the corn and almond breading. The fish had little to no flavour, as if it hadn't been seasoned at all. The tomato had a stronger taste than the fish, so basically it tasted like I was eating a tomato and lettuce sandwich, with a fish taste as an afterthought. I'd much rather pay for good-tasting food rather than an overwhelming amount to eat. Another reviewer noted the slow service, and I had a similar experience. Someone else mentioned that this place is good by local standards, and I'd have to agree. Coming to this place after trying eateries out of town, this place is less than noteworthy to my palate, and the prices seem quite inflated (probably to get the tourists). Come here if you want quantity over quality, because there sure is plenty to eat, even if it isn't that great.

It's a very small place, but the food is very good! It's a bit cramped seeing that it was originally a small house. I had the crunchy fish sandwich(the fish was huuuuuge!) & my boyfriend got the krabby patties. I also ordered a clam chowder togo. Everything tasted good & the food was fairly fast. I can definitely see why it's so popular & I would definitely go again. It's not made for a high-dining experience, but I don't think that should affect their ratings. It's especially yummy after kayaking 5 miles at paddling adventures!

For families with children- The food is fantastic, however their lack of tolerance for children is nonexistent. We found this place on Yelp coming from Orlando to Weeki Watchee to have lunch with my two children (age 2 & 6), my friend with her daughter (age 7), and the children's nanny. We are all foodies so we were all happy to have stumbled on this 4.5 star foodie shack. We were sat at the large table in the middle. We wanted to sit outside but there is no railing around patio and the tables were high tops. Not fitting for kids and toddlers who could run out to the busy road. We should have known they didn't like kids when after being there for less than a half hour and the chef yells from the open kitchen, "inside voices". A term to tell kids to quiet down. Really!?! The place has loud music so it is hard not to be loud just to to communicate with your table mates. With two moms and a nanny we were on top of these children, but not enough according this the rude chef. I thought he might have been joking, but he was serious. It gets worse. Towards the end of the meal the two year old got down from his chair so I immediately took him outside to run around. The other children followed. Outside I met the owner. A nice women who was complaining of her ailing knee. She said her restaurant has become very popular and locals get disappointed when they can't get a table. I complimented her on getting 4.5 stars on yelp, as that is really hard to do. I continued to praise her on the food. And we ended up taking about business and family for about 5 min or so. She was very nice. She felt like I was talking to a friend. She seemed exhausted and overwhelmed with the success of the place and the small size not being able to hold that many people. As we were talking, the male chef, who I believe is also her husband or co-owner, came storming by and under his breath said the something about kids. I wasn't sure who he was referring to, but he was pissed. My toddler was running on the grass, but not bothering anyone. I walked back in and my other kids were coloring and putting dollar bills on the wall. All seemed fine. As we depart, we wleave a nice tip, and graciously thank the wait staff. We see the women owner outside again. We told her again how much we enjoyed our meal. We were very complimentary. The owner tells my friend and nanny that our children were too loud and a table left because of us. And that her husband/co-owner was extremely angry. We were shocked as we didn't think we were that loud. And that this nice women who we complimented up and down, so easily turned and was not so gracious. Needless to say, this ruined our nice time and not a great start to our vacation. We all got back into the car and drove to tampa for our vacation in silence. We were very bummed, as no one likes to hear that their children are perceived as bad and we felt bad that a customer walked out. Not sure why she had to tell us this after we showered her and her staff with praise and were leaving. As for food, which is the main part of a review, absolutely rocks. But I have to tell you why I gave it 2 stars. Food and service go hand in hand. The food is a 4- 4.5 and the experience was a 1. The crunchy fish sandwich is amazing. It is huge and easily shared. I would say it is a foot long. The sangria was delicious and served in a nice glass. Refreshing on a hot day. One of the children had the bacon hamburger and it was so moist and tasty. Loved the way the menu was printed on the brown paper. Very creative. The wait staff was friendly and the food came out fairly swift. I, still to this day, crave the fish sandwich and would drive from Orlando just for that sandwich. But won't due to these ill feelings. If they want more of a mature and refined crowd, then I suggest they not call it a shack.

I'm not a big seafood lover, but I insist you must come here! And you must order their crunchy fish. The best seafood item I've ever had! It's a tiny place with limited seating so reserve ahead of time if you bring a group larger than 5. The path to here if traveling from Weeki Wachee is a small empty road, but look to your left and drive carefully or you might miss it! The ambience reminds me of a bar kind of atmosphere so if you are coming with kids, be aware of that Lol. However, the service is great, there is no smoking indoors, and the food is delicious! so the kids would be missing out if they didn't come with you. If coming for social times with friends, they have a beer sampler menu. Great place for foodies, singles, and small families.

We were in the area and decided to have fish for lunch. Our first thought was to go to BeckyJack's. We walked in about 1:30 and there was one table left and we sat down and were immediately greeted by a friendly server. We had to order the Crunchy Fish sandwich and a cold beer. It comes with fries but, we had to order a side of Onion Rings. We were served in a very short time. The fish has a cornflake and nut breading and was delicious as usual. Don't miss a stop here.

Wonderful service! I had the crunchy Reuben and coleslaw and my spouse had the crunchy fish sandwich! THE BEST FISH SANDWICH I have ever had!!!!!! Small little place with a lot of character and you can bring your dog and sit outside to eat!! The only downside.. I didn't know about this place years ago!

What a great place! The staff was awesome and the food was even better. Had the Crunchy Fish Platter. The fish was coated with corn flakes and almond and fried to a golden brown. As good as I have had anywhere!! We almost drove by because we didn't think there were any tables inside. It was a chilly evening so sitting outside wasn't an option. Have seating for about 20 inside. Give this place a try!

Everything I read in the reviews was true. Great food and great service. Crab BLT was delicious. Wife enjoyed her perfectly cooked sweet bbq burger. The jalapeño hush puppies had just enough heat and were also cooked just right and their shock sauce was spot on.

I have a few important things to say: fantastic servers, great beer selection, and amazing food! The crunchy fish with love batter (I think that is the name) is to die for! You need to go here, but it closes early on the weekends so it's good to go at a time between lunch and dinner. Seating is very limited, but this little place and the wait staff make it work somehow! This little place has big atmosphere too, lots of stuff to look at while you enjoy your drink. If they have homemade cheese cake for dessert, get a slice. The white chocolate cheesecake was outta this world. Love love love this place every time I am in the area!

I have to say, I am sorry I had not gotten around to visiting this place sooner. First off, I love the atmosphere. It is such a gem in this town of chain restaurants. The eclectic decor and awesome music make for a very pleasant experience. The service my husband and I received was amazing. Right off the bat we were welcomed by everyone. We sat down and were immediately helped. The people that are at Becky Jacks are awesome. I know this sounds bad, but around here it is hard to find great customer service sometimes. On to the food! We had the smoked fish dip to start, AWESOME! For our entrees I had the Crabbiest Pattie BLT (tomato, bacon, lettuce, pickle, crabcake on Texas toast )The crab-cake was just right. I am somewhat of a crab cake snob. This is one of the best ones I have had in a while. The tomato was fresh and over all the sandwich had a great flavor. For the side I had the coleslaw. Hands down, best slaw around. All in all, if you haven't been, GO!

LOVE this place... and yes it's called a shack for a reason but don't let that fool you. Great food and great beer! I've tried several menu items and always been happy. My favorite's are the Burgers and the Fried Fish Reuben. The crab cakes weren't my favorite but they weren't bad either. The tacos are great too (pork or fish). My only complaint is that they don't have a consistent kids menu. I ordered the mac and cheese and while I thought it was good, my 5 year old wouldn't eat it. It was fancy and not what she's used to. Bring them a box lunch if you have picky eaters. My older daughter loved the corn dog nuggets but they don't always have them. I've had the key lime pie twice. The first time, it was amazing!!!! The second time it was good but I think not as fresh as before. I'll still order it again - it's that good. They made the most adorable desert for my older daughter with brownie bites that she still talks about. Very friendly staff, a great local eatery, check it out!!!

I took the advice of fellow Yelpers and tried BeckyJacks!! I'm glad I did!!! I had the crunchy fish and crab cake with two sides. I had the WONDERFUL Mac N Cheese!!! I also had the black beans and rice with raw onion!! My dinner was DELICIOUS!!! This place is small but cozy and the owners are very nice. They even will cook your own fish for you. Call them for details. I know one of the secret ingredients in the mac and cheese but like the Bush Beans Dog....I ain't talkin LOL!!!! Check out the pictures I posted :)

We live in this area and are always on the look out for good food. After reading the reviews we decided to check it out. It's exactly as the name describes, a shack. They have a small stereo system, which they played some awesome classic southern rock. It's SUPER small inside but the staff is really friendly so it's like being welcomed into a really good friend's home. We had tea which seemed to have a fruit taste to it and didn't need sweetener. We noticed that they do not have a soda machine so all the sodas are served in cans. The variety of beers took up the entire back part if the menu so if you are a beer drinker bring a DD. The menu had a good variety. The specials were written on a paper bag & handed out to the table (sounds odd, but it a super cute idea). They had at least 5 specials, all pretty reasonably priced, from appetizers to main meals. They looked so good I wanted to try them all. We ended up ordering a small appetizer from the specials and our meals from the regular menu. My husband had the Fish Ruben with a side of coleslaw which he loved! The fish was covered in almonds and cornflakes then fried, which didn't sound at all appealing to me. (I. Was. Wrong.) I had the blackened fish tacos, which were very very good, but didn't compare to my husband's fish. No room for dessert but we are already planning our next trip back & bringing friends!

Me and my buddy are avid mom and pop enthusiasts and this spot passed with flying colors. Awesome atmosphere, very inviting yet mysterious at the same time. Crab cakes were superb and the mac n cheese was definitely one of a kind. The food came too quick I wish we had more time there!

First time to Becky Jack's. Very convenient after a wonderful day with the mermaids at Weeki Wachee!! Nancy, our waitress, was terrific!! And other wait staff was attentive to us as well. A very personable group. The food was delicious with many items made fresh there. There were six of us and several had the house special crunchy fish and crab cake. Crunch made of corn flakes and sliced almonds, then deep fried. Light and flavorful. Also had onion rings and fries. Super. A house salad with shrimp skewers was fresh and had lots of mingled flavors. The hamburger was as described - delicious. And finally the homemade desserts! Don't leave without at least tasting a few. We had key lime pie and "girdle" buster pie, which we renamed Spanx pie!! We'll be back. Oh and did I mention homemade sangria a a page full of specialty beers!!! Enjoy!! We did.

We over heard the conversation between one of the kayaker and the pickup bus driver about the best restaurant to eat is Becky Jack's seafood shack. One of our local friends also recommended this place. The shack has limited space so early arrival is important. Fortunately I went ahead to get the table that save 40 minutes wait for the late arrival after me. We waited 10 minutes and we get the table for 5 people. The most eaten dish is the Crunchy Fish - white fish batter in corn flake and walnut. As the bus driver has said the fish is very large piece. We have order the Mac Daddy Combo and it come with crunchy fish and two pieces of crab cake. They also have the coconut shrimp combo with fish and the 6 coconut shrimps. The combo fish is $13.75 very good price in generous portion. The fish is very fresh. The other two ways you can order the fish are blackened or grilled. We also order the Reuben fried oyster. This is first time I have in this way. The dish is fried oyster then top with cheese and coleslaw and serves in toasted bread. This is a interesting fish that not in the menu and the special wrote in the paper bag. Overall the service is great, the seafood is fresh, cannot ask any better about decorations. You should not deceive by the shack outlook with a good food inside.

Kitschy, quirky, cool, and yummy! Everything that makes up Becky Jack's can be summed up that way. Everyone in the reviews including a friend who lives in the area, and a local on the shuttle back to the Kayak Adventures said to go to Becky Jacks, and get the crunchy fish. Almost our whole table did. It was huge, and tasty, and mine was served with 6 coconut shrimp with a side of their homemade mac and cheese, and 5 bean salad. I also got a glass of sweet sangria and loved it. I tried some of the oyster reuben too. It was good, but just too much mayo or whatever they put on it. The decor was fun and busy like dollar bills on the bar, license plates in random spots, dressed up mannequins, and a spray painted tie dyed car. Loved it. This is a small place with about 6 tables and it can get pretty loud. Food is yummy though. Check out this shack and don't let the outside deceive you. Just settle in to this cool delicious dive!

BeckyJack, you've got some great food! Another great Yelp find! This miniature gem was fun and delicious. Our original plan was to get something small so we wouldn't be too full for dinner, that changed when we saw the portions, they were quite large The girlfriend ordered Wild Bills chicken tacos. They weren't on the menu but we saw them in the review photos. They first drizzle some blue cheese dressing in the tortilla followed by some buffalo chicken, then add lettuce and crumbled blue cheese. The 3 tacos filled the entire plate, something I rarely see. We absolutely loved them! I went withe the crunchy fish platter with fries and mac-n-cheese as my two sides. They take the fish, I don't know what kind but it was good, coat it in corn flakes, almond slices, and a little bit of love. It was tremendous! The steak fries were great and so was the Mac-n-cheese. I think they were made with ricotta and was great! I'd gladly recommend to anyone passing through. We loved every bit of this hole in the wall!!!

Went in to Bettyjacks after reading the reviews of restaurants near The coast in spring hill. Definitely worth the drive awesome crunchy fish and coconut shrimp, stayed crunchy from beginning to end mm mmm , creamy Mac and cheese and tasty 5 bean salad. Service was awesome, very friendly and very fast (seriously like 5 min) and everything was hot and fresh. Very eclectic lil place with a great story . Thank You for a great experience.

I Love this small Shack! So funny that we were introduced to this by our yelping friends from North Carolina on their visit here in Spring Hill! Here I am a local, and passed right by it so many times never to give it a second look. I keep thinking I will try one of their specials or something new when I go there, but I can't help but order their crispy fish or chicken. What do they put into that breading?? Something addicting because I cannot go in there without getting it. the mac and cheese is awesome, not fancy, but sooo good. Thanks guys for having a true local spot that gives us the best service, best value and Best food!

The food was awesome and relatively inexpensive. The green tea with honey was so delicious. The atmosphere was great and the server was super friendly. The food was very hot and came out right away. We were very pleased with everything.

First time here and we were pleasantly surprised. Our family enjoyed the crunchy fish tacos, blackened fish platter, and the plain Jane hamburger. Tacos were excellent, as was the blackened fish. The sides are mediocre. We had Mac n cheese, 5 bean salad and fries. All were just ok. The burger was a little dry too. That being said, the fish was good enough we'll be back.

This place is literally a shack and is pretty divey, but I think it adds to its charm. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer which were delicious. I got the crispy fish sandwich which was HUGE - entirely too much food but got to take home some leftovers. They were offering homemade watermelon sangria that day on their "special menu" which were just a few items handwritten on a brown paper bag. It was so good and refreshing on a hot day!

For what it is this place is good. It's actually a roadside shack that turns out good burgers and other food. I had the burger with fries and the patty seemed fresh, moist and well cooked. The jalapeño hush puppies are a good snack and the sangria is okay but sweet. Service is excellent with attentive friendly servers that stop by often to ask how things are. I'd go back.

This place got awesome seafood and funky decoration. We ordered fry oysters sub, crunch fish and crab cake, soft shell crab sandwich. The material were fresh and the coating was flavorful. The services were great. This restaurant definitely worth trying . They close at 5 pm , so show up before 5.

We were visiting from out of state and found this place on yelp. I read all the great reviews so we couldn't wait to check it out. The problem was that they only opened Wed-Sun. and we were leaving to go back home on Wednesday (yesterday). My husband and I decided to take our boys swimming at the state park before driving home and we were so glad we did because after we were done swimming, Beckyjacks was open. We went there for a late lunch and the food was DELICIOUS!! We ordered the ribeye sandwich, fried fish sandwich, fried fish tacos, a few kinds of their burgers, fried fish platter w. Crabcakes, and some coconut shrimp. Everything was delicious. My crabcakes we're so delicious. I was expecting it to be full of breading but it wasn't. They didn't skimp on the crabmeat. The fried fish was huge, crunchy yet cooked perfectly. The coconut shrimp was delish. The burgers were delicious as well. I can't remember what they were called on the menu but one had blue cheese, one had an egg on it (which my nephew loved) and the other one had bbq sauce and bacon. There were 10 of us in our group (4 adults, 6 kids) and everyone loved their food. The place was tiny but had a lot of charm. The wait staff were really friendly. If they were only opened on the other 2 days we were there, we probably would have gone both days. Lastly, they have dollars bills all over the wall. There was a gentleman sitting on the bar and I don't know if he was the owner or just a local regular, but he came to our table and gave all the kids a marker and a $1 for them to doodle on. It really made their day!! If you're in the area, this place is a must try.

Went to this place on a recommendation from some friends. I LOVE this place!! If you are looking for fancy this is not the place for you. If you are looking for amazing food then this is a must go. I had the fish Reuben...it was delicious!!! And huge!! The flavor was out of this world. It was breaded and fried in corn flakes witch just gives it such a unique flavor, and the nice thick piece of fish just makes it to die for. The person I was with had the fish tacos, and could not say enough good things about them too. I can't wait to go back and try the chicken coated with potatoe chips and fried..I will update when I do which hopefully will be soon

So where to start... We were referred to this place by one of the guys from the kayak place...he said we would love it. We arrive and the very friendly owner greets us...we decide to sit on the patio which was empty...couple of us had to stand because they couldn't find enough atools. After a long wait, we are presented with our server. This young lady obviously did not like her job or the fact she had to work. She was slow, worthless and had a big attitude. The food was fair...my burger tasted like it was only made with onions...but the chips, salsa, jalapeño hush puppies and huge fish sandwich were all good . So..except for the burgers and server...this place is ok. With the servers attitude it is only a 3 star place.

I'd you are looking for fancy elegance then this place isn't for you. If you are looking for great food at reasonable prices look no further. We had a gray lunch of fried chicken coveted with potato chips. It was excellent! We will definitely come back here again.

Really good lunch from a place that looks like a roadside dump/.hot dog stand Extensive craft beer list, to start off. Hopcicle was a great start. The gumbo was one of the best I've had. A little kick and big chunks of fresh fish. Ordered the crabcakes, which were mostly crab meat. Yum. Oddly enough, the show stealer was the 5 - bean salad side dish. Incredibly reasonable prices for what you get. The only downs are no lemon on the plate and tartar sauce. I just don't like tartar sauce. A remoulade would have been perfect.

Great prices and even better food!! Nice, friendly waitresses. Good eclectic beer selection. I had the Mac daddy: almond crusted white fish with 2 crab cakes. Absolutely delicious!! Service was fast and they never lost track of us. Very contentious and personable. This is an absolute must if you're in the area. And it's worth the trip if it's an hour drive away!

We enjoyed our fish sandwich. Thanks yelp! There is so much fish hangin out of the bun, I ate that first and was full before I even had a bite of the sandwich. Good food and service was outstanding . We will be back.

This food shack is the REAL DEAL. Nothing fancy, only seats 32 (to include 4 stools at the bar) but everything on their printed menu and written menu on paper sacks is excellent. From hand pressed home made burgers to Mac and cheese and featured crunchy fish (sandwich or dinner plate w/ 2 sides) is the bomb. Oh I forgot to mention 14 yes, 14 beers (all micro breweries) on tap. Extremely friendly staff and owners (Kim & Joe) seal the deal at this little southern gem. Expect to wait during season as the snow birds think they can take the tables up for 3 hours and chat about how things are better in NY or Jersey.

Holy moly, am I glad that we checked Yelp before heading to Pine Island for the day, else we may never have stopped here. We had a great late lunch after several hours of sunbathing. From the instant we walked into this tiny place, we didn't want to leave. From the eclectic decor to the Fiestaware that we ate on, I loved every bit of its style. We ordered a lot of food - crunchy fish sandwich and a fish Reuben, littleneck clams, (one of the specials of the day), the jalapeno hushpuppies, and jalapeno cheesecake! I would recommend any of these dishes and only wish we had room to try more. I don't believe I didn't try the mac n'cheese, one of my all-time favorite dishes; we got the cole slaw and the 5-bean salad, the latter a particularly tasty version of this dish. The 13 craft beers on tap were a great addition, and the variety sure to please anyone in your party. These, like the food, were very reasonably priced. During our meal, the super-attentive waitstaff all checked on us many times, giving us a chance to learn a lot of the place's history. The current owners have been in place for 4 years, and I hope they stick around, because they've got something good going, for sure. You absolutely must stop here if going to Pine Island, Weeki Wachee, or something else in the immediate vicinity; if I were in the area I would drive up to half an hour (or more?) to get to eat here again. I will be dreaming about that meal for a long time!

When I drove on one lane roads for two hours from Orlando to Weeki Wachee Springs (aka BFE), I didn't expect to find good food. But when the stomach's growling, you'll trade your kingdom for a hot dog. It was in this state of mind that I turned to Yelp in my darkest hour. Struggling to maintain even one bar of cell phone signal, I was surprised to find a nearby 5 star establishment with 9 reviews. That's a ridiculously high score, and to find it in the boonies... well, I was perplexed. We pulled up to BeckyJack's Food Shack, and the eccentric decor is fitting of a BeckyJack Food Shack in the middle of nowhere. I have to give them props for establishing ambience with the Bad Boys theme song (Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you). I was thinking, "Is this place for real?!" It most certainly is. It's as real as it gets. The fish sandwich is like they caught a 2 lb fish this morning, battered it in almonds, and put it on your plate... even though it doesn't fit on the plate. I have photographic proof if you don't believe me (see pics)! The mac and cheese was mind-blowing. I don't know how else to describe it. It doesn't taste like regular mac and cheese, and it's not even that cheesy, but it's delicious. I've never been a fan of cole slaw, but I sampled some here, and it is incredibly sweet and smooth. We rounded out the meal with homemade cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries. The only thing that was disappointing about our visit was the girl and guy behind the counter were not Becky nor Jack. The original owners passed away (this place has been around for 50+ years), and the current owners felt they didn't want to change the name. If it ain't broke, why fix it? One of the best meals I've had in Florida!

They say that you sometimes don't even know what happens on your own doorstep. I have been living in Brooksville for the last 6 years and just 8 miles down the road is a fantastic seafood restaurant in Weeki Wachee called BeckyJack's FoodShack. This unassuming little place is set off the side of the road on Cortez Blvd, if you drove past quickly you could very well miss it. I have heard from some people that I know that this is the only place to go if you want fresh seafood and so I decided to go and try it out on Saturday afternoon. The result? I may have just found the best seafood restaurant in the area. If you are not familiar with the area then Weeki Wachee is situated just west of US19 out towards Hernando Beach. The restaurant is small, it holds maybe 20 inside at a push. The menu is concise and simple and the daily specials are hand written on a brown paper bag. The menu is a mixture of seafood items and burgers. They also have wings which I have heard are very good and I am looking forward to trying. Already I was liking this place. We had 6 in our party and so we got some Jalapeno Hush Puppies for the table to start and 12 little neck clams. Both items were absolutely delicious. I am a huge fan of clams and these were juicy and a good size. The hush puppies were tasty with jut a little heat so what better way to wash it down than with a frosty cold beer. The beer selection is very good. Sure, they have Bud Light if you're into that but why not try one of the craft beers. We tried a Leffe Blonde that had a great fruity taste to it. It really hit the spot and they had another 7 or 8 craft beers that I will be back to sample (not all at once tough). It's good to see a small little seafood restaurant (or shack) in Weeki Wachee taking pride in what it does with the beers as well as the food. Very refreshing to see. So onto the main event. I had ordered the crunchy fish with a crab cake, 5 bean salad and mac n cheese. My wife had the fish tacos and a couple of other people had the burger so we had a good sampling. I will let you know before I go any further that I am somewhat of a mac n cheese snob. I love it and I hold it to a very high standard when I order it out. This mac n cheese was some of the best that I have tasted - period. It was absolutely delicious. Everything that I had on my plate was very very nice. I have had some good meals in the area but I would have to say that for seafood, this is the best seafood restaurant that I have been to in Spring Hill, Brooksville or Weeki Wachee. Nothing fancy, just damn good food. After stuffing ourselves we ordered a chocolate cheesecake and a key lime cheesecake for the table. I VERY rarely ever eat dessert, I'm just not a sweet tooth. However, the key lime cheesecake was fantastic. I could have eaten a whole one to myself. As you can probably tell by now, I really like this place. This is a place where you can go with a group of friends, have some great seafood, have some beer and just relax and have fun. Chances are that you will best friends with everyone in the restaurant before you leave. If you find yourself in Hernando County looking for some great seafood then be sure to check out BeckyJacks Food Shack in Weeki Wachee. For my money, it's the best seafood restaurant around.

We loved all of our meals...Crunchy Fish, BBQ Porker, Clams, and the Fish Rueben...yum, yum, yum, and yum! That atmosphere is local and kitchy, the imside is small, and you feel like you are eating with an extended family. Just a wonderful, local restaurant with the right charm for the area. Highly recommend the Crunchy Fish!

We have lived in the area for 15 years and seen this small shack transform. Over time we drive by BeckyJack's weekly never really paying any mind, but we did notice the number of cars out front increasing to current where there are now so many cars they are parked next door and people waiting out front to eat....we were intrigued. So we decided to see what was going on...I can tell you good stuff going on...Our experience was very good and it is now evident why they have so much business. Small place cram packed with all types of decor that makes it very unique. They were packed, but we were immediately greeted, seated and received excellent service The entire staff works as one well organized upbeat team...good vibe going on... Beer...if you like craft beer then you are in business...they have a great selection...I would say 10 or so of really good draft beers...this is a real treat for us as there are no other restaurants in town that have this many choices of craft beers. Food...good and big portions...seafood and burgers....after our meal we sat at the small bar to finish our beer and allow others to eat. We were watching the kitchen and could see there is care put into every plate of food...the plates were coming back empty and a lot of to go containers taking home the leftovers. Try it...support our local!

I was on vacation in the area and found this place on yelp. The reviews were almost too good to be true, but beckyjack's lived up to the stellar reviews 100%. I ordered the fisherman's platter which was a pretty good sampling of the food. The jalapeno hushpuppies had great flavor. The crunchy fish (with corn flake and almond) was really unique and quite good. The crab cakes were very meaty. The slaw had a perfectly tangy, but sweet taste to it. I can't fault beckyjack's on anything. The prices were very reasonable and they had an excellent craft beer selection. Overall, you really can't go wrong here. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Food was acceptable and the beer selection, as noted by others, was great. Service was fairly slow for our group of 6. We rolled in at about 3:15pm on a Sunday and found they were out of crab. Bummer! Crunchy fish platter was ok, wings were good, but nothing special. In my mind, 5 stars should be mind-blowing incredible food and service. This place was average, but not exceptional by any means. Granted, I'm from out of town so I'm not familiar with standards around here. In many of the places I have lived and visited, this would be a solid 3 or 3.5 stars. FYI if you are paying with a debit card, you get to tell your server what her tip is to her face. That might bother you - or it might not.

Crabbie Patties that taste like Crab? Crunchy Fish that's Crunchy? What's wrong with these people? I'm use to the business model were the description on the menu is the opposite of what comes out of the kitchen! So here I am expecting a soggy Fish sandwich and out comes a Crunchy delicious fish Sandwich with great toppings. I expected the Crab cakes to taste like a bread cake, instead i get a crab cake filled with crab meat?!? I have to take a half star off for not placing a warning in plain view and making me sign a waiver as to the accuracy of the food description on the menu. Alright I'll put it back since it was delicious. Crunchy Fish Sandwich = Bomb!-- The good Bomb! Not the bad one. Best Fish sandwich I've ever had. Seriously , this is a great little place for lunch or dinner. Great prices, and friendly faces. All the ingredients are fresh and good, Love mom and pop places like this. They take pride in the food. Give this place a try when your up this way. Just beware. What they say on the menu is what they mean. I'll have to get use to it. ;)

This is the best place to eat in the Hernando county! I was visiting a friend in area and she took me here. The food was delicious, service was good and the price was right! I joked with the waitress that I didn't know how they sold desserts because you are so filled from the meal. Don't let the outside fool you this is A+ food.

Ah, the proverbial "hole in the wall." That mythical culinary unicorn. Of course, unlike unicorns these places do exist, but the really good ones are just rare enough to make finding one a notable experience. After a day kayaking Weeki Wachee, my buddy and I asked one of the guys with Paddling Adventures (who we rented the kayaks from--good place!) if he knew of any good restaurants around. He mentioned BeckyJacks. When the van came to pick us up we asked the driver about it. He gave it an enthusiastic second. The van drove right by the place and the driver pointed it out. It's a tiny building standing alone off the side of the road. We knew this was the right kind of place. We were not disappointed. It's a small place that might seat around 30. Very casual atmosphere that suited our mood having come right off the river. We both ordered sweet tea and were told their sweet tea was a green tea with honey. It was very good and was a good sign of things to come. I ordered the crunchy fish (perfectly battered, seasoned, and the almond slices were a nice touch), black beans and yellow rice (lightly seasoned beans and fluffy, perfectly cooked rice), the mac and cheese (with a white cheese and garlic sauce), and a crab cake (crispy golden brown on the outside, flaky and flavorful on the inside). Oh, and how could I forget the smoked fish spread appetizer that we demolished beforehand? The owners have a lot of restaurant experience with large chains so they definitely have skills. But they got tired of the big corporate culture and now are doing their own thing. As someone else wrote, another review is almost not needed. But this place deserves praise--and lots of business--and I'm happy to add mine. I wish the owners much success!

Wonderful place! It was like a hole in the wall. I could totally ignored it if my friend didn't recommend it to me. It was small only few tables but it was clean and cute. I had there fish salad and it was delicious. They had two big pieces of fish on the top and lots of lettuce, beans, cucumber, onion and some other vegetables. The only thing I didn't like about was the dressing. I tasted great but I'm sure there was sugar in it since it was quite sweet. Any way, nice place and definitely coming back.

Burgers to crab cakes to crunchy fish & Mac n cheese it was all wonderful! One of the best places if not the best place We have found since moving here (although visited frequently) from Tampa!!! I have learned to overlook the bare concrete floors and look past the decor to find that these local dives do not specialize in aesthetics, just damn good food. Although extremely tiny in size they offer a wide array of beers (I don't drink the stuff but hubby enjoyed them) to suit any beer lovers taste buds. Moderately priced and large portions. We did not have to tell our waitress her tip amount nor did we drink from a can, but then again we had tea (a tasty green tea sweetened with honey, not your typical southern tea but still very good) waters and beer. My fish sandwich (try with some Swiss cheese, it's awesome!) was large enough to need 2 buns! I made my sandwich into a double. Crab cakes very moist and tasty, I did not try the burger but hubby said it was home made, not frozen patty garbage, and very tasty. Look past the floors (concrete) and mis matched tables and chairs and you will have one of the best meals in town! Support your local businesses and eat local before they all go out of business! It sure would be a shame to loose such a great little treasure! Only giving 4 stars bc of the physical aspects of the restaurant itself, food alone would be a 5 but I feel you need to rate on a whole and let's face it, the place could use some tile or something. RR is outside, etc. It was $52 before tip for our family of 4 plus my hubby's 7 beer taster and we all left stuffed to the max!! All good reviews here speak for them selves! The place is great!

Five of us kept trying to make it to BeckJack's, but kept being too late or on a day they're closed (Mon/Tues). It was worth the wait. Between the five of us, we had the super crispy fried fish, a fish reuben (odd but good), their very good fish dip, and a bunch of other stuff - all excellent. It's a small place, very few tables, and busy. Go early or mid afternoon like we did, and you'll not have any problems getting a table. Service was great and fast too. If the world really had come to an end Friday, I think sitting there eating smoked mullet dip and drinking beer would have been the way to go...

This is worth a 1 hour drive from Tampa or Orlando! AMAZING! We stopped here based on my fellow YELPers strong recommendations, and they did not disappoint. It is out of the way and totally unexpected. Went in and let them know we would be dining outside (was a little chilly, so the door was closed). Also, this is a dog friendly place, gladly filling our water bowl for us. I ordered 1/2 dozen wings, crunchy fish sandwich with mac-n-cheese, a crab cake and seafood gumbo. And the beer list is awesome, a great collection of craft brews on tap (I ordered a Magic Hat hefeweizen, or two). Food came out as quickly as should be expected for what was clearly cooked to order. The fish sandwich was incredible, twice as much fish as bread, completely crunchy and tender/flaky inside. Wings were crispy, cooked perfectly with great bleu cheese. Mac-n-cheese was fabulous - smooth and creamy, with a hint of garlic (I think). Crab Cake was delicious, tons of crab and seared perfectly - house made tartar sauce was the spot on compliment. The gumbo was seasoned perfectly, spicy but not overpowering, shrimp clearly added before serving so they were tender but not overcooked, okra was big enough to see and taste. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient, again, spot on. MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Looking forward to many happy returns!

My review of this place is almost not even necessary. You could just look down the rest of the page and know this place is incredible. So, I'm not going to bore you with the details. This will be quick. OH MY GOD, GIANT PORTIONS OH MY GOD, DELICIOUS FOOD (and I mean, DE-LI-CIOUS) OH MY GOD, UNDER $10 I had the Crispy Fish, my girlfriend had the Cracked Chicken, and her dad had the hot wings. All were awesome. Perfectly fried and seasoned and fresh and cheap and SERIOUSLY JUST GO THERE NOW.

Tasty food. Friendly atmosphere. They tolerated our rowdy party of one adult and six teens in a place that only has 7 tables. Beverages in cans is the only negative. Worth the drive for something made like home. Super casual and fun.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to review Becky Jacks since it's one of my absolute favorite eating places around and I go here at least once a month. They have the BEST burgers, great crab cakes and fried fish, amazing 5 bean salad, amazing amazing mac n' cheese... very different and yummy. I'm not sure but I THINK they might use some ricotta cheese in it. They have craft beer on tap. The service is the BEST and the atmosphere is adorable.

When vacationing with my husband and two small children on the other side of Florida from where we live..the left side, we drove past this unassuming place several times. My husband didn't want to eat here, but in my experience the hole in the wall places tend to have amazing food. Well, I'm happy to report that I was correct. If I were ever to open a restaurant, this is the place I would want to open. It is tiny, seats maybe twenty comfortably. The server was super accommodating with our girls, and made them lemonade to order. I had the best fish tacos I've ever had and a shandy. My husband had a burger that he pronounced gigantic and delicious. Our girls enjoyed the Mac and cheese. I'm sorry that we waited until our last day of the trip to try this place, because it was so good, I know I would've insisted we go back. A must go if you're near the Weeki Wachee Springs.

Great dive food! Great dive service! I'd come back again for the experience! The crunchy fish was a good choice. Definately recommend! Lots of beer on tap. The Mac and cheese was a nice spicy side. The shrimp was juicy and typical of a joint like this. Unpretentious. Good fish.

I have never written a review before, but just had to for this restaurant. We heard of them through a google search and since we were close we decided to give them a try and are we ever glad we did. It's a coozy little place with limited seating inside and some tables outside. We were greeted at the door with friendly welcomes. The waitress was quick to arrive at our table and gave us the time to decide what we wanted and helped put it together for us. My wife and I both had the crunchy fish sandwich which if you haven't been there, you have to try it. Fabulous !! We also had mac and cheese, the bean salad and the cole slaw. There was plenty to share with our grand daughter who ate the fish right up. If you have a chance to stop there, it is a must eat at experience ! Terry and Cheryl Indianapolis, Indiana

If I had to pick a favorite restaurant and could only eat there the rest of my life, it would be BeckyJacks. I drive over an hour at least twice a month just to eat here. The fish sandwiches are so fresh and flavorful and the craft beer selection is super fun. There's nothing that beats the comfortable vibe and friendly employees - I only wish I lived closer!

This is my first review of any place and, after eating at BeckyJacks, my initial thought was to go put this place on blast on Yelp!! You WILL. NOT. BE. DISAPPOINTED.

Becky jack's always has fabulous beers on tap, which is what brought us there in the first place! We had their chips and salsa the first time we were there and it was great. Dipping their soft chips into the different BBQ sauces they have was great too. Every time since then we have had their burger and fries. The sweet red burger I tank it is. We are huge fans! I need to buy their sauces for home--they sell them for $4!

Worth the stop. A small restaurant big on charm and flavor. After kayaking the Weeki Wachee with 3 adults and 4 kids, this hit the spot. I was impressed by the great on-tap beer selection while everyone enjoyed the creative and tasty comfort food.

We made a special visit all the way from Gainesville! Great atmosphere, awesome food. Porker sandwich with Cole slaw on top, yum. My hubby had Crispy fish with crabbie patties that were fresh and delish. He really liked 5 bean salad "to die for" and he knows his food. True, old Florida-style food shack. Worth the drive. Oh and they have beer. :-)

Last weekend, I had the occasion to drive up the west coast of Florida from St. Petersburg. Somehow, I happened to drive by Beckyjacks Food Shack. It was about 2 PM; pouring down rain. The place does not look like much, but the parking lot was full. Good enough for me. I had a dinner platter with a large crunchy fish filet, a crabby patty, cole slaw, and mac and cheese. The fish was moist. The crabby patty was actually a small crab cake, with little filler. The cole slaw was fairly standard. The mac and cheese was unique in that I think it had a slight garlic flavor, but it was very good. And, most importantly, it was very reasonably priced. While, I did not try any of the beers, it looked as if there was a unique selection. Also, the table next to me ordered dessert, which was apparently homemade and looked excellent with generous portions. Note that the restaurant was very small - probably about 30-35 capacity, but there was also some outside seating. Also, and maybe it was the day, the service was very friendly, but somewhat slow in that there was only 1 full time waitress and all of the tables were occupied.

Only thing missing was some cornbread to go with the gumbo. :)

My three fishing buddies and I spent the weekend in Hernando. We came across this tiny little place, read the great Yelp reviews before entering, went in and had a seat. The decor is pretty cool. Lots going on and lots to look at. I think we counted 25 to 30 chairs inside, so it is quite small. But, for such a small place, the food packs a huge bite! We ordered the crispy fish sandwich - all of us loved it, BBQ wings, buffalo wings, and fish tacos. Very satisfying. So much so, that we went back the next day! Worth your time and money. Your belly is going to be very happy if you stop in.

I pray it was a fluke cuz this is my favorite place but, I went last night and ordered extra sides of 5 bean to take home and it was so salty (which it's normally on the sweeter side)... I was sad - I hope they didn't change the recipe because its my favorite salad ever!!!! I will still keep going though, food is great!

Crab cakes all crab-no filler-perfect. Mac and cheese not your Kraft variety- real cheese and very good. Burgers made in house- not from Sysco. Great cheesecake and friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere sort of old Florida. Can't miss coming here.

Excellent! Went there after visiting Weeki Wachee Springs which is just over a mile away and were thrilled with our choice. You might not even notice it from the street, a hole in the wall with lots of character. Thank you yelp-ers for the recommendation! Fresh fish, lots of choices and it was all tasty. I ordered the crunchy fish and crab cake combo, tons of food at a very reasonable price. Unique selection of beers on the menu was a nice treat too. Would recommend it to anyone going to that area.
