We used a groupon for Mad Dogs and we will definitely go back. The service was awesome, we called ahead of time and they had everything correct.. The food was unbelievable.. We finally found a place who makes awesome beef sandwiches. My kids ordered the Chicago dogs and many others.. We had high hopes for this place and they delivered..I am so glad we finally found a place who makes hot dogs and beef sandwiches correct. Keep up the good work . We will be going back a lot..

I had roast beef burger, the wife had European pretzel dog. We shared a side of sweet potato fries with 2 Dr. Brown's sodas. All great! For only $13!

They serve all of the classic hot dogs. Want a hot dog from Chicago? They got it. Memphis? They got it. They have hot dogs from all over the place. Whats great is, they have done their homework and is all very authentic to the area where the food originally came from. Like the Chicago dog uses a Vienna hot dog with mustard, neon relish, onions, sliced pickle, peppers, tomatoes, celery salt and a poppy seed bun. Everything is the is would be if you would get in Chicago. They also carry Italian Beefs and Philly Cheesesteaks. Their sides of sweet potato fries and corn nuggets are awesome too! Low prices and good food make it a good quick stop. Cash only.

Great little place. Had classic dog w kraut and spicy mustard. Absolutely delicious. Took a chance and had a knish too. Perfect! Washed it all down with a fine chocolate shake. Our search for NYC dogs and square knishes is over. This place is just great The only negative is the packaging. Everything in styrofoam clam shell packaging. Not a fan But the food is great!!!

Their Italian Beef is the best in the area!! Super nice too! Never had a bad dog there either. They even have the real "neon green" relish for the Chicago dogs. Worth the trip.

Wonderful people, wonderful food. Real Chicago Italian Beef! Great hot dogs! Oh did I mention the owners are fantastic people!

Had a Sabret hotdog with bacon wrapped around it and relish...awesome dogs and reasonably priced. Wish they had indoor dining though.

Definitely THE place to go when you a craving for hot dogs in the Venice area. Warning though, directions I got through Yelp via iPhone were a little off. Just look for the Hot Dog sign next to the bank, in the plaza. I had the Coney Island, with a natural casing dog (you have a choice of several types). Mine was cooks & topped perfectly; very tasty dog! I'm betting the chili cheese fries are awesome as well, but I held back & didn't try ... Next time (cause I'll be back!)

My favorite doggy stand. My hometown Chicago dog is perfect, right down to the sport peppers. I'd like to try all the menu choices but the clever special dogs keep interfering :-). Mrs Dog at the drive up window is terrific and accommodating and they sell Dr Brown's! I've gotten a couple of large orders for small groups and they are always well packaged and convenient to take out. Keep up the great work!

Not that great. Very expensive for drive thru hot dogs. Lots of other options in the area for better food at the same price.

Mad dog is great for any low budget eating. Many options to choose from. Hebrew National dogs. We are on vacation from Cincinnati, Ohio and stopped by Mad Dogs and we're impressed and very stuffed when we left. Try this place out!

They make a great Chicago Dog. It's 5 star. I would give this walk up spot 5 stars overall except they do not accept credit cards and in today's world... who walks around with cash? I don't. So as much as I enjoy a good Chicago dog I drive past this place everyday without giving it a second thought because I'd have to go to an atm, possibly pay a fee, get out $20, buy my dog, then walk around with pocket change and bills that I normally don't spend and it's quite a bit of harassment. It's 2014 and I think I'm over dealing in physical currency. I'd gladly pay an additional .20 cents or whatever their transaction costs amount to, than $2 to the ATM people, lose 0.85 loose change into the floor of my car, and lose 10 minutes of my time just to find a way to pay for a hotdog.

Great people, great food! They use quality ingredients and produce quality products. The owners are from New York but do Chicago cuisine very good justice. I'll keep coming back for years to come! Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I come here every time we visit Venice! You have to try it. It's a true gem. We are fans of the Wisconsin and Seattle Splitter but everything they have is delicious.

  • Shawn H.

I eat here often and I love all the different toppings and unique specials. Try the Mac Daddy (Mac and cheese with bacon) or the Lincoln Log Splitter (cream cheese and slaw). This place never disappoints.

Delicious. Not the healthiest, but oh so good. My husband and I had coney dogs, chili cheese fries and a tamale. Everything was fresh and hot. They have a large selection of different hot dogs. We will be back.

I had the Seattle splitter and Chicago Hot Dog they were the best. My husband had 2 Cincinnati Dogs he loved them. This is our security visit to Venice Fl always stop at least once on each trip. Well worth the trip. Will always come back when visiting Venice.

Get the Memphis dog, don't get fries. Mad dog hotdogs is a great place to get hotdogs at a low price. It might be a little wait (drive through) but it's well worth it. Also I found that the fries were only bearable if you had a lot of ketchup, all in all it's a great place to buy a hotdog.

We were in Florida for a vacation and being originally from Chicago any excuse for a hot dog is a good excuse. These hot dogs were pretty good, the price was decent and the fries were honestly so so good. I loved the different options and took the opportunity to get one with BBQ, grilled onions, bacon and cream cheese (I don't remember the name but it was good). However, the hot dogs were good but not great the flavors and options were interesting but overall just OK. There seems to be an option for anyone. Some cons include the amount of time it take to get the food (its a small place so I'm thinking with only 2 people working max our order was a little much). Also the whole only cash thing is not so much cute and quaint as it is kind of a pain.

Love the dogs, love the fries, love the shakes!!! There is nothing about this place is change (unless I can suggest that they build more!!). Love that they have a large variety to choose from, and different specials that I'd never dream of putting together, yet they always taste amazing!

Our family visits Venice often and we love Mad Dogs. The staff is friendly and the Chicago style dogs, the Italian beef, Mac cheese bites (according to my kids the best they ever had), corn nuggets and milk shakes are all excellent!

This place is the bomb! My fav is the Arkansas Turkey Dog it is to die for, especially on a pretzel bun although, I typically order it in a bowl (no bun). Mad Dogs has a ton of choices with every hot dog combination you could imagine. This restaurant is a great option for anyone counting carbs because all their selections can be ordered with no bun in a bowl and honestly their hot dogs are so delicious I do not miss the bread at all. All their sides and selections are great and I would recommend trying something new when you go.

First off Thank you for the great service you always give me. Your food is top notch. The dogs are always perfect and I have tried most all of them in the Four years you have been open. I look forward to having your great dogs in the future.

Ate a couple of dogs from there last Sunday, nothing fancy, and they were delicious! 5 star for sure if they took credit cards.

We got the Seattle splitter and an Italian sausage, both were awesome! We will definitely be coming back often!

Amazing food, inexpensive, and the only place I know that has turkey dogs. Cheese fries always good, owner always smiling.

Awesome hot dogs!! I hit this place up anytime we are in the area or going to the movies at franks theather. The selection of dogs is large and incharge to say the least... The couple who own the place are super friendly and as a matter of fact on one of our first visits I did not know they did not take credit cards so as we got our order and informed us of this we where a bit shocked... One of the owners says with a New York accent "don't woOoorry about it" just pay us the next time your here... I knew then and there I was a Mad-dog fan... Chicago and the Memphis ROCK!!! Just remember... Bring cash.

Whoa, what a treat! I stopped at the Mad Dog this evening( my first visit) I ordered a Coney onion no mustard and a Chicago Dog. I had a ten minute drive home No Problem! They came in a fitted styrofoam container and were as hot when I got home as they were when the were handed out the service window. Both were authentic and good. They have homemade tiramisu and cannolis. This will be my "go to" place for my hot dog fix.

You can't visit Venice without going to Mad Dogs. It's a great hot dog experience. We tried to stop by on a Sunday but they closed at 4PM. Went back several days later on the way back from Siesta Key and got some takeout. Our house was about 10-12 minutes way. When we got back, the food was still fresh and great to eat! They really know how to pack takeout! Thanks! We got a ripper with a mix of veggies and then a bacon wrapped with chili and shredded cheddar. We each ate half of each dog. I loved them both. I wish I had more time in Venice to visit again and try different variations. That is the greatness of this place is that you can get so many different options on such a simple food. We also ordered onion rings, a vanilla shake, and a root beer. Before tip I think all of this only came to around $15!!! The lady at the window, not sure her position in the company was awesome. Repeated my order back to me, returning to clarify anything with me a couple of times for my takeout order and ask about condiments on the side. Like I said earlier, then also packed up my order perfectly to take home.

My 12 year old son and I were visiting my mother in Englewood for the week. If anyone has been in that area you know there's not much to see or do, so one night we dicided to grab the car and go out for a bite to eat. We stumbled onto Mad Dogs...about 10 minutes before they closed. We couldn't have been greeted with a bigger smile by the owner! We ordered the BLT dog with lettuce, tomato and mayo and the BBQ dog. Both dogs wrapped with bacon and fried...so yummy! I'm in foodservice so we both chatted it up while my son moaned with every bite, he was in hot dog heaven! So many cool choices on the menu. You could eat there every day and try something new! A great little place run by great people.

These are some great hot dogs and the price is decent so I gotta go with 5 stars since I can't really think of why I wouldn't give them 5 stars. They are what they are, a great, drive-thru, quick stop for awesome hot dogs. They have tons of great choices or you can whip up your own. The Hawaiian was amazing and it will be hard for me to deviate from that, but I will try others from time-to-time when I visit the area. We called ahead for the order and it was perfect, not much (or any) seating to speak of, but grab it for the beach!

Went there for the first time last year and the hot dogs are delish! A bit pricy, but worth it.

My husband and I always get a craving for chili dogs. Thank goodness we found this place near our new home. Coney Island dog (chili, onions, mustard) was delicious. Lots of other varieties of hot dogs. Highly recommend

Really patient girl behind the counter as there is a really big menu. And its basically just hot dogs of all shapes and sizes. No place to eat inside - on a sunny warm day, we sat outside. Some folks were eating in their cars. $12 to feed an adult and a 3 year old.

This is a small place with a walk up window and a drive through. The drive through can be a bit tricky if you have a car with a wide turning ratio as after you place your order you drive around the place to the pick up window on the opposite side. They maintain a wide variety of speciality dogs but you can pretty much ask for anything. My wife is a fan of the Coney Island dog as she loves chili. I like pretty much everything but the ripper with ketchup, mustard, and kraut is a favorite. Fries are thick cut and the portion is substantial; they even have sweet potato fries. There are a few tables and chairs outside if you can't wait or just don't like eating in your car. This is a local business and they like to get it right. This isn't fast food as preparation begins just after you give them your choices. And they deal in cash only so leave the credit cards in the wallet. Nice deal for families is eight dogs (regular), two fries, and two drinks for twenty bucks.
