Best food, clean, fun atmosphere!!! New date spot with my hubby!! The salads are so good I have had the tropical and the steak. I always ask for a different healthier dressing on the side and they always get it right! The Cali lettuce cups were the best and my husband loves the taco's which their are tons to choose from also the zimzalatas are huge and my husband who is a big muscle guy couldn't finish it. They are I believe like an enchilada. If you haven't tried this place you missing out and traveling to Tampa for no reason!

We come here for dinner during happy hour as often as possible. It is our new go to restaurant before we go to Big Storm brewery. I am enjoying a Kona IPA and my wife is of course having Bishop's Bride from Big Storm. Go Cali style and get your taco or fajitas with lettuce wraps. I had the shrimp fajitas with lettuce wraps tonight and it was awesome. The lovely wife had the Wasabi tuna taco for the third visit in a row. I think she has found a winner. Great food and better atmosphere. The staff is friendly and inviting. Come enjoy! EAT LOCAL! DRINK LOCAL!

The food is very good. The buffalo chicken egg rolls are my favorite. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the drinks aren't that good. Tacos taste great but are tiny!

We stopped for drinks and to get some food to go for our daughter after eating next door. Drinks were good, atmosphere great, service great. We did cheese quesadilla's for our daughter and when we got home we were surprised how bland they were.

Loved the VOLCANO SHRIMP TACOS! Super flavorful, and really fresh. You have to have the APPLE WONTONS for dessert! They are to die for! No matter how full you are, please don't leave without having some! This a really fun place to grab a bite to eat, love the Cali theme; the menus are shaped like actual surfboards! And great service, our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Definitely would come back here. We came here on Friday night and it was busy but we got sat immediately. Server came right up and took our drink order, took awhile for them to get to our table but he apologized. Our server did forget to put in our appetizer though so out entrees came right out. When we told them that our appetizer still hadnt arrived we got asked if we still wanted it (obviously, that's why we ordered it), they were semi apologetic to forgetting our appetizer and our server came up and asked why we didn't remind him... I wanted to be angry but my burger was too delicious to get annoyed. Although, I was surprised to see that they still charged us for the appetizer. I fully understand it was busy and we are all human but working in the service industry before, we always went above and beyond. That being said, don't look for spectacular service here but expect to love your meal.

One of my favorite places to eat! Danielle and Erika are my favorite bartenders! I always done at the bar and receive amazing service! Tuesday night is Taco night... $2-$4 tacos all day :) I do wish there was a better tequila selection.

My new hot spot!!! Food is great here. Love the fact that they bring chips out as soon as u arrive and the salsa with extra cilantro is delicious! Quesadillas are huge and great. Chimichangas are great... Wasn't crazy about their bowls but everything else is on point

  • Dolores C.

This place is simply dreadful. The Steak salad had steak that was tough and had dry rub spices that were simply awful. Dry and tough. The BBQ chicken salad had chicken that was drenched in BBQ sauce and both were topped on wilted and brown lettuce. Run away from this place. We were never offered water, however the service was generally good. Steak tacos were not great either.

Love, love, love this place! My favorite was the filet mignon tacos. Delish! I just wish they could bring back curbside pick. That was soooo perfect for busy families with young children

I love this place, even with its rather hipster meets California surfer dude vibe. They have a fantastic assortment of tacos and burritos, with special items appearing and changing regularly. The service here has always been friendly and attentive and they accommodate large groups well. The food is a bit pricey for a taco joint, as you are paying for the atmosphere, but it won't burn your wallet up completely. They have a lot of semi-healthy options available for those who care about that sort of thing, and many options are vegetarian friendly.

  • G S.

Nice atmosphere but the food was gross. Very weird sauces they put on everything. They comped our meals which we never asked them to but it was obvious when out plate weren't touched . Very nice staff and I left good tip but the food was horrible:(

I cannot believe I've been coming to Zim Zari's for four years and have not reviewed it. I'm ashamed. This place has everything your could possibly want in a restaurant: the food is consistently top notch, always surpassing my now high expectations. The service is quick, efficient, and (of somewhat equal importance) FRIENDLY! Everyone here seems to love their job and does their best to make each visit enjoyable. The atmosphere is always refreshing. The restaurant is themed around surf culture and everything from the great music to the surfboard shaped menus reflect it. This is, hands down, the best place to eat in this area. Hell, this is the best place to eat for 30 miles in each direction - it is THAT good. I'd recommend Zim to anyone who enjoys food. Seriously. Try it - you'll be hooked.

Food was really good. We ended up getting drinks and appetizers and really enjoyed everything! There are specials every night and the happy hour (after 9pm 1/2 price appetizers) was a great deal. Appetizers were pretty big and we ended up having a ton of leftovers.

Zim zari is a great fast cas restaurant in the trinity area. It's sister store, surf shack, is located in westchase. I've never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is fresh Cali and the menu reflects this. Their BBQ chicken salad is great, as well as, their wraps. Jimmy the manager is very accomodating and always helpful.

Brandon and I stopped in here on Friday while we were up in npr and it was pretty tasty. I ordered a baja chicken burrito Zim zari style which has their salsa and cheese baked on top and it was very tasty. Brandon had a burrito as well I think it was called sunfire something but it was supposed to be spicy and have steak in it. Anyways he thought the steak was a little chewy and he wished he got his Zim zari style after he saw mine. He tried their red ale beer and thought it was pretty good while I had a blue margarita of some type which was also pretty tasty. I feel like any drink that is blue is always delicious. Anyways we also had the white queso dip and it had a little kick to it but overall was pretty good. I think they should serve more chips with it though to start with because we went through ours very quickly. The menu is really unique and looks like a lot of options. We did notice that the tacos seemed to be quite small compared to thr size of the burritos. I think we'd go back again in the future.

  • Anthony M.

Whether I have a Mongolian bowl or a simple burger, the food at Zim Zari is great. They offer a baja style touch on some traditional dishes, but you always get great flavors exploding from your fork. We recently took my grandma there, who is so picky, she makes my kids look good. Even she loved it there. We've been there a bunch and service is always great too. I wish they had more outside space; but, I'll take what I can get there.

California style mexican food, or so it states. Very good. Only remember having better in california. Price is reasonable. Host and staff was great. Taco tuesday would be the day to go. Strongly recommend if you are in the area and in the mood mexi cali food. Wife loved the fish tacos.

We tried this restaurant by chance, and we.re glad we did. The food is DELICIOUS! The combination of favors and zestyness was perfect. The margaritas were very good also. What tops off the experience is how friendly all the employees were, especially Julie our waitress. She was charming, had good knowledge of the food, and treated us as though she were happy we were there. We are already planning on going back with our neighbors. Thanks for a great night!

I love Mexican food far above all the rest and finding a great spot in Tampa that is the best has been a fun job of having to test That being said, Zim Zari is a fun place to eat not typical mexican with tons of heat but a Coastal Cali vibe menu that is pretty neat Menus are big ol' surfboards to go along with their theme Staff has always been friendly working together as a team The fajitas were delicious that the hubs and I shared the chips and salsa were flavorful, fresh, and perfectly paired I will definitely be back to try more of their menu because their vibe is fun, food is great, what I like in a venue!

There is simply not a better restaurant of this type, in the USA! I've eaten here at least 10 times and 9 times it was perfect. The one time the service was slow, the Owner spent 10 minutes apologizing and refused to let me pay for our meal. The food is exceptional in every way. Quick, hot, tasty, served as requested and unlike most anyplace you've been that serves this hybrid of Tex/Cali/Mex food. Prices are awesome, staff is great and the ambiance fits perfectly with the food. It's unusual in that most anyone would feel comfortable in the restaurant, whether visiting Eurotrash, college students, young professionals or Grandma & Grandpa, visiting from snow country. You owe to yourself to try it, even if you never considered Tex/Mex/Cali type food before ... it's YUMMY!

  • Marsha B.

I always love the food! It just seems when you go on taco Tuesday and there are only 2 in your party, they seat you in this horrible cramped really small booth table that you can barely fit at.. It's even worse when your food comes! I love coming to zim zari's, but I can tell you now I will never sit in those seats EVER again... Oh and the got a couple more new tacos on the menu, they weren't to bad! My fav is still the volcano taco.

Ordered the chicken tacos. Very tasty. Felt they were priced a little too high though.

My husband and I love to go there every Tuesday night for there $2.00 tacos. They're really good. I, usually get the pork and the fish, and my husband usually gets the filet mignon and shrimp. However, last time he got the magnolia beef and it was really good. The upside tacos are very good and filling. Nothing like you've seen before. The bar staff is friendly and wonderful and make really good drinks. There rice and beans, and vegetables are good. They're tortillas and sauce are the best I've ever had. The sauce is sweet and addicting. We love it. A great place to take the family or yourself. Also, the pork and plantain appetizer if very good too. I've never had a bad meal.

OK, I only gave it 2 stars, but not because the food is so-so. Taco Tuesday is awesome. I have been going to Zim Zari since it opened. They have great srvice and the tacos are great for the money. But in the last few years, parking has become horrendous in the lot that Zim Zari shares with other businesses, mainly I think because more restuarants have moved into the plaza. It is a battle to find a spot. Tonight people were being towed for parking in the BB&T Bank lot, which is unused after 4 or 5. I was one of them, and it cost me 165$ to get my car back. Granted, there was a sign posted, which I did not see, you have to enter the lot a certain way in order to see it. I have parked there before when there was a parking shortage and had no problem. The end result is that I will not be going to any more restaurants in this plaza, because they do not have nearly enough parking, and obviously have no agreement with the bank, which would make sense. Until they rectify the situation somehow, they have lost my business, and for the rest of you, beware of the BB&T lot, you do not want your car towed by those rip off artists at A-1 Recovery!

I could eat at Zim Zari's sister spot, Surf Shack every single day. I dined at Zim Zari for lunch since we were in the neighborhood. My husband ordered the jerk chicken quesadilla, and I had the chicken zimzalada {enchilada} with rice and beans. Husband's quesadilla with creme fresh was AWESOME. My enchiladas...were not. They were generous in portion, but flavor was so lacking in both the rice, and chicken, and enchilada sauce. I am so bummed to review it like this, since I assumed I'd be a fan. My family lives close by and can't believe I didn't love it. My husband did try my meal and had to agree though, so I know it wasn't me. I will definitely give something else a try there, and will hopefully love it as much as I do when eating with their "sis".

  • Jeff C.

Another 5 stars! Filet mignon tacos for $8... Not A SINGLE bit of gristle or chewy parts. WHAT A BARGAIN! I've had $12-15 "steak" sandwiches where I've had to spit out half the meat. This place rocks!!

Zim Zari's is an excellent and fun dining experience. Stopped in for a quick lunch with my daughter and had an excellent meal. "Zim Zari Wrap" ... Zim Zari style...love it. Portion size a bit large, but hard to complain about that. Fresh Chips and salsa presented to the table were delicious.

The Good = The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Surf boards, bamboo, real coastal feel. Chips and salsa to everyone when they come in. The salsa is so good that I have actually stopped in after grocery shopping to buy a container of salsa to go for my house. I love their house "lime cilantro ranch dressing" never had anything like it and it's addictive. Tacos are the best I think. They are not traditional tacos. I love Volcano Shrimp Tacos the most. Steak tacos, fish tacos, chicken tacos....all original ideas. When my friend gets a Burrito it looks like enough to feed a small town haha. A+ Place!

Trinity really needed a Mexicali restaurant just like this one! Awesome prices, great food, good size portions, and family friendly. Lots of tvs but not too overwhelming. Large booths are available in this surf style resturant. Super friendly hostesses!

Take everything you know about Mexican and throw it out the window. You're used to Tex-Mex, but this is Cali-Mex. I've failed to find a restaurant that's remotely as innovative and delicious as Zim Zari, a place that has literally never disappointed me in all the years it has been there. Nothing on the menu exceeds $12.99, and the tradeoff for food is amazing. $2 tacos on Tuesday, $5 burritos on Thursday. An immaculate assortment of appetizers, including the all-time granddaddy upside-down nacho dip. My god. This place is the true best of the county. Tied with Orchid Thai for my favorite in Pasco.

Popped in around 5:00 on a Sunday. Looked fun. Good seats, large screen playing World Cup. Fun concept. Clean. Friendly staff and yummy free chips & salsa. I ordered the veggie and bean burrito, and was somewhat disappointed. It looked delicious, but there was an overpowering flavor of some sort of sauce. I had fries as my side. They tasted heavy, so I tried some ketchup. It was so loaded with sugar, I couldn't eat it. I actually read the ingredients label: both high fructose corn syrup and fructose corn syrup are there!!! Then I realized the heavy taste in the burrito was too much grease used to grill the veggies and the heavy taste in the fries was old grease. Then I had a stomach ache. I took about 2/3 of the meal home in a doggie bag. I'll decide tomorrow whether I try it again or just throw it out. My friend had a hamburger and thought it was good. So, based on that, I may go back for a second try, but not right away.

It doesn't get much better than Taco Tuesdays at Zim Zari, or really any day of the week. Aside from great daily specials every other day of the week, your $2 taco on Tuesday is a real winner. Hip atmosphere and sweet service. You're instantly seated with a delicious basket of crisp tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Would highly recommend the upside down nachos appetizer, filet mignon taco, and fish taco. Love this place.

Four of us went to Zim Zari last night for the first tiem. It was a very good experience and we would all definately go back for another meal. It is a large loud restaurant that is really neatly decorated. Our server did an excellent job. She was friendly but not over bearing. All of the drinks came out reather quickly. The food was served in a timely manner. I tried the Mongolian Beef Tacos. The beef was very tender and the flavor was great. Everyone of us really enjoyed our meals. We all said that the portions were the perfect size.

Cheap Tacos on Tuesday, Happy hour specials. Great local crowd. The only complaint I have is sometimes service is beyond spotty. The bar and restaurant can be loud at times to the point of not being able to carry on a conversation. The waiting area overflows to the bar and surrounding tables. If you want a cheap meal go on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. They advertise as $2 Tacos but only 1-2 are $2. The others range to $3-4 each(I think) its still a value but make sure you check your bill as many times I haven't received happy hour prices on wine or beer even when it was clearly with the time frame. I'd stay away during non-promotion days. The menu is pricey for what they offer, portion sizes(on the regular menu) and the ambiance.

Love, Love, Love Zim Zari! The Ziggy sandwich on special is perhaps the best sandwich I ever ate! Service continues to be spot on, and love the complimentary chips with that incredible salsa. Well done Zim Zari, well done!

Zim Zari wasn't my first choice. Actually, to be perfectly honest, it wasn't my choice at all. My team and I decided to have a before work gathering. We made plans to visit Craft Street Kitchen. I was super excited to try out some of the various offerings on their menu. But, despite calling in and making "reservations," Craft Street informed us that it would be an hour long wait. I was cool with that. Some others in my party were not. So they decided to put our name on the Zim Zari waitlist (as well Craft Street's) and see which one opened up first. Zim Zari did. So Zim Zari it was. Zim Zari is a "taco centric" California inspired restaurant. I figured it would be easy to find some vegan food here because most burrito/taco joints have something on the menu that fits this diet. As it turned out, it was pretty difficult. Everything was covered in cheese or sour cream or some other meat or dairy substance. After a lot of perusing I discovered that Zim Zari does offer a vegetable and bean burrito that includes grilled zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers, jack cheese, ginger lime rice, pinto beans and oven roasted garlic tomato salsa all wrapped in a flame grilled flour tortilla. It sounded like a pretty winning burrito so that's what I went with minus the cheese. I can't say I was super excited with the result. What little flavor there was didn't seem to mesh well. As I was eating it I kept thinking, the cheese has to be what brings this all together (or masks the lack of flavor elsewhere). I get that it is a lot to expect out of a restaurant to make a substitution to their dish and have it come out tasty but that is the reality when you are vegan and there isn't anything being offered on the menu that fits into your diet. Hopefully Zim Zari experiments with some vegan dishes at some point so that I don't have to hold them accountable for something that isn't completely their fault. I will say, the following day I ate my leftovers and it tasted a lot better. Either I was super hungry or the flavors flowed a lot better after they had some time to mingle. The lesson here for vegans is to order a veggie and bean burrito as take out and let it sit in your fridge overnight. Otherwise, look for another place to eat.

Surfing through Zim Zari and we were greatly surprised by the delightfulness of this California dreaming kinda place. I was looking for something not so overwhelming, and the pork and plantain bites started calling my attention. They consisted of roasted pulled pork, served over fried plantains, drizzled with BBQ, mango salsa, fresh cilantro and a side of cilantro crema. Yes, it was perfecto. My hubby ordered the orange chicken bowl which was crispy chicken, pineapple salsa, ginger lime rice, and ginger orange sauce, and he was set, and ready to go. We were able to bring our surf dog Mocha Coconut. He was so comfy while we were California dreaming in Zim Zari. I also had a refreshing mango margarita, and we were set for the beach. All was happy go lucky in our world. Service was stupendous and super cool and collected.

Outstanding Service at the bar. Seating area is hit or miss with server. Food is delicious! Come for Taco Tuesday! Jerk chicken taco is my personal favorite. Update! I just ate the Ziggy! That might be the best sandwich I have ever eaten! Unbelievable.

Loved our lunch here this past Sunday. Our server, Brittany, was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. They serve free chips and salsa upon seating, But that was our least favorite part of our meal. We weren't impressed with the salsa, and thought the chips were a little salty. We ordered guacamole and thought that was good. In my opinion, the tacos were the star of the show. Our table got a few different ones to try. My favorite was the Jerk chicken and it was great. We also tried the surf and turf (very good and flavorful), a blackened fish taco (ok) and chicken tinga (good). It was nice to be able to swap out the taco shell for lettuce for a few of them. Out tacos were full and tasty. The meals came with a small side or beans/rice or cole slaw. We will definitely be back.

I've seen my friends check in here before, but tonight it was OUR turn. I really didn't know what to expect, and the name is very exotic.. so I kind of crossed my fingers and jumped in. When we arrived at almost 8pm there was a 20 minute wait to be seated, but once we were seated, our waitress (Kerry, I think) came over right away and took our drink orders. She was really friendly and personable. She answered all our questions and let us know what to expect since it was our first visit. For our starters we ordered the pork and plantains, which turned out to be a really tasty combination. I'm not very adventurous in my food choices, I usually leave that up to the Husband, but tonight, those flavours combined nicely, The smoky pulled pork, the slightly sweet plantain, the sweet with heat of the mango salsa and the bbq sauce made for some really good bites. And the cilantro crema? REALLY tasty. Since it was Burrito night - They have a special every night of the week - the husband ordered a chicken burrito, it wasn't anything fancy but the flvours were all good. I ordered one of their Zinzaladas, a chicken one. For me, the red adobo sauce was a touch too sweet, but when I added some of the left over cilantro crema.. well that just made it all the better. What really made this a 5 star visit though? It was the fact that the manager came over and welcomed us to the place, he even gave us a voucher for a free appetizer the next time we come back. That was above and beyond in my book and shows that they actually care about what the customer thinks. We will be back.

The Volcano Shrimp was one of the best shrimp appetizers I've had, also the San Burned Steak Burrito and Zim Zari Wrap (got to try both : ) we're very tasty! My wife and I ate outside on the patio, very nice, the service was excellent, the waitress very friendly, gave us suggestions, and the food came out very fast! We'll be back, with friends/family next time ! Tge manager came by our table twice to make sure everything was ok and also gave us a gift card for a free appetizer for our next visit. Highly recommended for something different that you can't get elsewhere :)

The lettuce wraps are bomb. I mean, they should be good with the 900% increase in price. I would also recommend the blueberry sangria because a daily serving of fruit is important.

Wow. This place is awesome. Love the laid-back surfer vibe! Great service, all of the staff is friendly & efficient. So many great things about this place. The menus are sooo cute-little surf boards. My husband and I shared the Volcano Shrimp, which reminded me of Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp, but better because it wasn't fried. We both loved it. The complimentary chips and salsa were great, especially the salsa. I ordered the Baja Chicken Burrito with beans and rice. Sooooo delicious. May be the best burrito I've ever had. My husband ordered the steak fajitas--jerk style with plantains, also delicious!! We were stuffed afterwards. Our very friendly server asked if it was our first time dining there and after we said yes, the manager came over & gave us a card for a free appetizer for the next time we come in. We will definitely be back!!

This place was reccomended by friends so we tried it out. It was Taco Tuesday so it got busy real quick. Food was excellant and we will definitly go back.

My son and I had the steak quesadillas. These aren't the soggy type you get at Taco Bell, oh no, these were perfectly toasted and were delicious. The filet mignon tacos were fantastic as well. The waitress we had was awesome; should have remembered her name. The piña colada was really really good.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Or in this case, Zim Zari or Surf Shack? Either way, and despite the fact that the menus are 95% identical, I prefer Surf Shack. Why? Because at SS, the service is more friendly, and the food was prepared a little better. I will give Zim Zari props on speed though. Our tacos came out super fast. It was busy for Taco Tuesday, so we sat outside (frist come, first serve) to avoid the 30 minute wait, but we couldn't help but feel ignored out there. We were never asked how the food was, nor were we ever asked if we needed refills on our drinks. Big customer service flops, IMHO. The one major plus at Zim Zari was a taco that we do not get at Surf Shack, the chicken tinga taco. Very good, and should definitely be incorporated into the SS menu! Zim Zari is located at the corner of 54 and Little Rd. in a very busy plaza, so parking can be tricky. I saw a lot of people duking it out over parking spots while we were eating. So if you're planning on hitting Taco Tuesday, come early (before 5 PM), or late (after 7:30 PM). All-in-all, the visit was OK, but I'm not sure I'll return.

We have lived in the area for over a year and finally got around to checking this place . I'm sad I didn't try it earlier because we loved it! We came in for taco Tuesday and they had great deals. The food was delicious and tasted fresh and flavorful. Filet tacos and tinga tacos were my favorite but everything was amazing Also kids friendly Will be back for sure

Stopped here for a quick lunch got great service, simple, healthy food choices. We are big fans now. Our host Jeremy made us feel especially at home and even gave us a free appetizer coupon for our next visit because it was our first time there. Enjoy

Always a great time at Zim Zari. Taco. Tuesday is a must! Parking can be rough, though, but getting there just a few minutes before noon will get you a better spot. I highly recommend the jerk chicken and volcano shrimp tacos. All the servers are great, there's even one that looks and sounds like the cop from "Bridesmaids." We go there almost every week.

  • Sam H.

Awesome tacos! I'll definitely be back! Everything sounded so good but I order the Soul Tacos. Um hell yes. Brisket, grit cake, bacon, bbq, and collard greens! Great customer service from Julie and laid back atmosphere which is no surprise seeing that it's a California grill:) cannot wait to come back to try more:) hubs got a chicken quesadilla(typical) but said it was really good. After 9 I think some of their appetizers are half off which is cool. I would have loved to try it but the cost were the same as a meal. Regardless I'll be back.

A Solid Choice for something wrapped in a burrito, however not a mexican/spanish restaurant! The drink selection was fantastic! The food was all good, however nothing was great. The menu was burgers or a Cali take on Tex-Mex. The prices were fair, and the service was friendly. Check this place out if your in the area to make your own decision...but dont make the 45 minute drive like we did...its not worth that.

Good Cali-Mex food and burgers. Fine selection of beers and a friendly if a little overenthusiastic waitstaff.

I tried this for the first time this week for lunch. The service was great and the food was good. They have a gluten free menu but if you have an allergy be sure you ask about cross-contamination. The chips are made of corn but fried in a shared frier. The chips are listed on the gluten free menu. This is my only complaint since it could cause serious problems for someone with a severe allergy.

  • Mike M.

Service was excellent Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable They forgot to put filet mignon in my filet mignon taco. It had two small pieces of filet and most bites were just shell. Lame. Pacific Pork Taco had mediocre pork and an overly sweet salsa that made it taste sugary. I feel ripped off and it was only $6. Others food looked good, my plate made me sad. Gidget Beach Party being displayed on the wall was neat.

Well this visit to zim zari was not as pleasant as we'd hoped for. We were seated quickly and presented the menus. We were then ignored and other tables around were filled with large parties, a couple, and three people. We finished our whole chips and salsa before we got our waters. Then we ordered as soon as we got our waters and the food came out shortly after the water. This experience was unlike any other time I've been there. In the past, the service has always been great and timely so I assume this is a mistake. The staff was all very friendly and the food was great. I feel I have to give 3 stars as they stared at us for a long time and no one put two and two together that we had been there 15 minutes with no one but the hostess. Two strange things we noticed: no knives which were very necessary and no extra napkins!

  • Marinda H.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing (Baja Chicken Burrito 'Zim Zari style' (some of their salsa and melted cheese on top for $2 extra)) but I felt like it was overpriced $9 for a Chipotle style burrito with no sides (beans, rice, etc.). There were some questionable chunks of chicken in it too - blech. Chips were decent, salsa nothing special (Pace?, def not homemade on site), liked the gidget surf vids playing through meal, great server. Not on my hot must revisit list but I would try again and order something different.

Zim Zari is our family's favorite restaurant north of Tampa! Everything on the menu is awesome and they rotate great local beers on tap.... Enjoying a Coppertail Free Dive IPA and california salad today. The buffalo chicken wrap appetizer is a MUST! The service is excellent and the food always arrives faster than we expect! Love this place.

  • Meaghan H.

Meh. The atmosphere was nice and laid back and our server was friendly and quick. The chips and salsa basket would have been delicious but the salsa was slopped over the sides of the cup making about half the chips soggy. I had the filet mignon tacos and they were lukewarm and bland, honestly no flavor. My pomegranate martini was poorly mixed and my friend didn't even finish her margarita because it tasted strange. People give consistently high reviews so I suspect my experience isn't the norm; I'd try it again and hope for better.

Everything about this place is awesome! Food is always top notch and fresh. Chips and salsa are amazing. Servers always pleasant. Management always present and ensuring their customers are pleased. Our last few visits the manager Dennis is always on the floor making sure things are running smoothly and were satisfied. Great addition to Zims!!!

  • Laura D.

Zim Zari is consistently good. Nothing exceptional but decent and fun. We really enjoyed the steak bowls for dinner, there are also a variety of burgers and burritos available. Hard to say what type of restaurant this is but there is certainly something for everyone. Mojito was a little off (I like them sweeter), but good selection of beers. Seasonal menu looked interesting.

Love this place, the food is always good. Tuesdays are taco Tuesday, so it gets a little crazy, but any other day is awesome. After 9pm discounted beer and appetizers.

  • Gigi S.

Couldn't stop mentally comparing this place to Surf Shack! One cool difference is that they have later night half price apps. Also, their huge shrimp were crispy and sauced to perfection much like the other location. This location was extremely busy, and the tacos weren't overstuffed, but they have a Mojo Chicken taco that we don't get on our side that was really good, but old favorites like the Jerk Chicken taco were left at chicken chunks, a sprig of cilantro and a tiny sliver of maduro with a droplet of sauce. It was a good fix if you MUST have taco day on a Tuesday rather than Thursday, but I'd hold out.

  • Nicole F.

I am definitely a fan of this place. I just wish that I had one that was closer to where I lived. The atmosphere and menus themselves were pretty cool...and the food was REALLY good! If I am ever out here again, this will be the place that I will come to eat since it is different than all the other chains out by where I live. YUM!!!

  • Steven C.

Always a wonderful place to go. Has gotten so much better than when it first opened. Free chips and salsa is a nice appetizer. My daughter doesn't usually try new foods and she tried some of my Mongolian beef bowl and loved it. She even asked for seconds. My wife enjoyed her veggie and bean burrito. It is definitely the burrito that ate New York!! For a great dinner out, I would definitely recommend Zim Zari. Gotta love the scenery in the place too ....

    (5)
  • TOM M.

The food is consistent and of excellent quality. For the amount of food you get and the price they charge, it is the best deal in New Port Richey, Odessa and surrounding areas. Always impeccably clean and very friendly atmosphere

  • M S.

Very interesting, varied menu. Sort of California fresh meets a combination of Mexican, American, Asian, and very reasonable. We ate at the bar and had great service. The Lettuce Wraps were excellent. The bartender recommended the Zim Zari Mango Chicken Wrap, and it was tasty and very filling. The Sun Burned Burrito was not quite as good, although my daughter decided not to have the Zim Zari topping (cheese, etc.), and that would have made it better. Good value, give it a try.

Went here for the first time a few months ago. We've been back many times since! Prices are great and we've yet to have a bad meal here. $2 Taco Tuesday's are a hit! Great selection of tacos, burritos, burgers, rice/pasta bowls, etc. Highly recommended!

    (5)
  • Jonathan M.

If you like tacos with a flare, make sure you go to 2$ taco Tuesday. I recommend the filet mignon tacos and the volcano shrimp. The crowd is a bit older (40-50) than I would prefer, but that doesn't take away from the great food and friendly, younger service. Zim zari is a gem in an otherwise boring, stuffy, subdivision town like Trinity, Fl.

  • Sherri C.

My husband and I decided to have dinner there one night, we had the steak fajitas and it was nothing special. The meat was really tough and not cut into strips like they should have been, they were big thick pieces and it was hard to eat. The rice and beans we got with it were rather bland too. I did enjoy the house margherita I ordered, but would have enjoyed Chili's fajitas a lot more

This place has a really nice atmosphere, laid back beach type decor inside. Service has been fine the few times I went. The food is so-so, nothing to rave about but not bad either. The upside doen nachos were the best thing I had there. Will go again but only if I dont feel like Chic-Fil-A that its next to

Excellent! After being disappointed at several other highly-rated restaurants on vacation, we sought the advice of the hotel's registration lady for a good local recommendation. We arrived at about 4:30 or 5 on a Thursday during spring break. It wasn't crowded, and more people were just beginning to come in for dinner when we left around 5:30. Our waitress was young and friendly. She allowed my picky-eater of a son to order off of the kid's menu, although he is a year too old. We started off with the lettuce wraps, which were great. The mangoes added a sweet tang to the spicy chicken. Their complimentary homemade chips and salsa were also very fresh and delicious. I ordered a pina colada, which was creamy and very large for the price ($5.50). For dinner, I had the filet mignon tacos, which were very good. The meat was tender and top-quality--and I am VERY picky about meat, especially red meat. My daughter had a complicated order (specifying amount of cheese, swapping sides, etc.), which was completely fulfilled. She said that her side salad was crisp, and the mango dressing was a nice change from the same-old dressings. Her veggie burrito was good as well. For dessert, fried ice cream was AMAZING. Great way to end the meal! And only $40 (before a tip) for it all!

Awesome Came in got seated quickly. Server came by immediately took our drink order and followed up with free chips and salsa. We ordered our food, I had the jerk chicken tacos in lettuce wraps. They were great!!! And healthy A++ Great job

  • Paul S.

    (5)

I could eat at Zim Zaris everyday! The food is amazing. Every visitor we bring here absolutely loves it also. The service is always great too.

Bad food experience! Soggy greasy chips served with salsa. French fries greasy & soggy. Burger was sub-par, pressed on a griddle nor char-broiled. Even the dessert was disappointing.

Love, Love, Love Zim Zari! The Ziggy sandwich on special is perhaps the best sandwich I ever ate! Service continues to be spot on, and love the complimentary chips with that incredible salsa. Well done Zim Zari, well done!

Duuuuude, their tacos are on point! The food is magnificent and the staff is very cool. The best Cali-Mex place anywhere around here!

  • Cat G.

My son and I had the steak quesadillas. These aren't the soggy type you get at Taco Bell, oh no, these were perfectly toasted and were delicious. The filet mignon tacos were fantastic as well. The waitress we had was awesome; should have remembered her name. The piña colada was really really good.

  • Teresa V.

  • Mark H.

    (4)

  • Ben R.

    (4)
  • Russell S.

Good Cali-Mex food and burgers. Fine selection of beers and a friendly if a little overenthusiastic waitstaff.

    (4)

  • Darcy G.

    (3)
  • Marinda H.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing (Baja Chicken Burrito 'Zim Zari style' (some of their salsa and melted cheese on top for $2 extra)) but I felt like it was overpriced $9 for a Chipotle style burrito with no sides (beans, rice, etc.). There were some questionable chunks of chicken in it too - blech. Chips were decent, salsa nothing special (Pace?, def not homemade on site), liked the gidget surf vids playing through meal, great server. Not on my hot must revisit list but I would try again and order something different.

  • Shane D.

    (5)

  • Natasha L.
