Great little Italian place in downtown Tavares. Friendly service and good food. Lunch specials are usually a best bet. Dining outside is pleasant... if construction isn't going on. One of several great small businesses making Tavares a pleasnt place to work or visit!

I came into Casa Mia Café jut about 45 minutes before they actually open and was greeted with such friendly, welcoming service. They were nice enough to allow me to start ordering and await for the rest of my party AND there was no attitude on the fact that I was completely there before the kitchen was even open. I awaited my party and when they arrived we considered going somewhere else as we didn't want anything heavy and let face it, Italian aren't too well known for their "light meals". As he paid my coffee bill, he returned with news of ordering a pizza pie with everything on it minus mushrooms. It wasn't greasy or heavy in fact it was delicious! The service was impeccable and our waitress was the owners daughter, Deborah. Very nice first visit, I would definitely return if I was in the area and craving Italian! I gave this Café 4 stars for the service and u loved how our pizza was full of fresh ingredients and sloppy/greasy/falling apart when I held it as many others are.

Don't know what happened, we stopped in for dinner about a month ago and the place was closed with a note saying temporary closed. Does anybody know any more?

Thursday August 8, 2013. Food OK. Service poor. Our server was Maurice. Maybe he/they were having a bad night but we won't be back. Two of our four meals were delivered cold. The owner/manager disappeared after redelivering those meals. The meatballs were mushy and tasteless. We were charged extra for their special homemade pasta on all four meals when it was ordered only one meal and the pasta wasn't all that special. Prices on our tickets didn't match the menu prices. Still no manager. With service and price differences like that they won't in business long.

Walking into the restaurant, gotta admit, love the atmosphere and the music in background was nice, peaceful and relaxing. First glance at the menu, prices aren't too bad and I do like the selection they offered. We tried the assorted cheese and olives (I did ask the server about the cheeses before we ordered them and when she brought out our sampler, she explain she was wrong about the cheese selection. The cheese were okay at best and the olive selection was disappointing. We did enjoy the foccacia, nice size portion similar to a small pizza in size. My children ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and chicken alfredo fettuccine while I ordered the chicken parmigiana. The sauce for the spaghetti and parmigiana lack a lot in flavor and the meatballs were just mushy and tasteless. We only took two bites of our meal at most and sent it back. As for the chicken alfredo, my one daughter loved it and ate most of her meal. Server very friendly and never had to worry about drink or trying to find her. Atmosphere, service spot on. Food, very disappointing.

Deliciouso!!! We absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this restaurant. Chef Rocco and his wife, Rita, have created a bit of Italy here in Tavares. The food is all prepared fresh in their kitchen with great care going to the precise amount of spices to light up your palette. We've tried most all of the items on the menu and have not been disappointed, even once. The veal, chicken, pasta, eggplant, meatballs and sausage taste as if I just walked out of my Italian grandmother's kitchen. And don't even get me started on their freshly made cappucino...TO DIE FOR!!! The desserts are fabulous as well. In fact, we have been there 4 times already this month, bringing new people with us each time - - and not once, have we left with a "doggie bag"!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
