Amazing restaurant in the heart of Tavares. I had a meeting in an adjacent city and lunch time called. The locals recommended this place and it was as good as they implied in the discussions. The restaurant faces Lake Dora and since Tavares is the city of seaplanes, I was able to see planes land and take off from the lake. Very good food and very good service.

Food was decent in my opinion, though my friends told me otherwise. I had the lobster mac, which was great but while my friends argued their food was greasy or dry, etc. When we walked in the table wasn't clean and it was fairly hot inside. The waitress was nice and friendly. The menu wasn't very varied. Wasn't an exceptional experience, but wasn't horrible either.

The band is outside, but you can sit inside and still hear them pretty well. Our food was at the right temp, looked apealing, and had good flavor. Service was attentive, and polite. Building is clean and facilities are too. Can't beat the view. Drink prices are reasonable too. Full bar but you don't have to be at the bar to hang out and relax. Most patrons are here to rekax, have a good time, enjoy Florida. AL ' s hits the spot. Gave this local a high rating for the overall feel, food, and quality of service.

I'm from out of town so I just stumbled across this place so I figured I would give it a shot. I'm glad I did. Good atmosphere was clean and decorated nicely with cool art on the tables. The staff was friendly and the place had great burgers asked for it medium and it came out perfect. Great prices on drinks as well was getting shots for 3.50 back home they would be 8 bucks.!!! I will be back next time I'm in town...

Mediocre food but nice beer selection! Bells Porter & Two Hearted Ale were a welcome surprise and the live music on Thursday night was pretty perfect for the setting. Food was....fine. Nothing to write home about but the menu was fairly large, I'll give 'em that. The outdoor patio was a pretty decent setting for a series of warm Florida nights (we stayed 3 nights for a local wedding). While my dinner flatbreads were decent, breakfast was a bit more mehhh at Al's. Their cinnamon roll french toast = white bread and cinnamon. Seriously. The banana pancakes on the menu weren't available because the restaurant didn't have bananas all week. Poor planning on their end! There wasn't really much in the area so I'd say it's a pretty average spot for a meal but a pretty fun hangout at night.

I've been here many times and keep coming back! It's the perfect place to grab a drink and watch the seaplanes come in. Good food and service as well. It's definitely a gem in Tavares.

I came here with my parents while I was in town visiting. Great view! The band was good, But loud. .. if you are coming for an intimate dinner or to chat, come when it isn't so loud. I got the chicken wrap and it was wonderful! The pasta salad is good also. My parents for the fish and I got a bite... if I ever make it back, I will definitely get that. The bite I had was out of this world. Our server was great!

We met up with some family for dinner when we were coming through town. They had some live entertainments which was nice, but very loud. It sits very close to and overlooking the waterfront of the boat landing and seaplane port of Tavares. Who knew? There is also a train that runs for a quick tour near the park. The food and the service were good and very reasonably priced. They have plates ranging from $8 to $28. I went with the fish boat for some fish and chips. They have a kid's menu also. I liked the open air seating and they have some indoor seats with A/C if you do not prefer outdoor seating. They also have a full bar. Overall, a great meal for the price.

Gets annoying that every time I'm in here they are out of something!!! The only reason they are getting a 4 star from me is the fish boat is awesome and at a great value. Bring back Somersby on draft!!!!!

The food is ok. Beer is not as cold as you would hope. Took over 20 minuets to get food. Asked to substitute chips for something...was offered salad but not told of the upcharge. Had the waitress just told me I would have been fine with it but it just appearing on the bill annoyed me. Enjoyed the scenic view.

Menu was boring, food was unimpressive, drink menu was nonexistent, service was slow. Will not go back. The view was the only thing that made us stay and order. Food was way better at the tiki bar across the street.

I don't know how this place got poor reviews. The servers are busting tail and really really friendly. They took great care of us and we enjoyed the craft beer and live acoustic music. Quinn is a great singer and Teresa is a great server. We will be back. Great views of lake Dora and sea planes.little slice of Florida

Left after the bartender ignored us while talking to another server complaining about everything. I'll spend my money elsewhere this holiday season

Sunday Easter Brunch. Great patio, scenic atmosphere, sea planes....Oh My!! Great for families/groups, individuals and couples. Quiche, Eggs Benedict cooked to perfection. Accompanied by fruit and salad. Really good Bloody Mary's!! Staff was attentive and friendly. Band was setting up...looks like a great place for live music along the water.

First impression isn't too good...out of sweet potato tots, smoked fish dip and temporarily ran out of plastic cups. We then noticed that the hostess wouldn't sit us at a table but it was empty for over 30 minutes. Then about 10 minutes after I ordered my main dish the waitress came back and told me that they were out of it. My son's fish dish was brought to him and it was flavorless...they didn't have any type of sauce at all (teriyaki for example) that we could add to it to make it more palatable. This is when we called the manager over... He came over and explained that they have boat races over the whole weekend and that they were not prepared well enough. He apologized and told us that he was going to personally make a meal that my son & I would really enjoy. After about 10 minutes, he brought out a flavorful dish made by combining gigantic sauteed shrimp, salmon and crab caked in a pesto-like sauce. It was excellent and my son and I felt like we were really taken care of. At the end he brought us an amazing chocolate cake which we devoured. After the way that the manager handled all of our problems and made us feel "special & important", we would definitely come back. My suggestion is that they need to add some more depth to their menu (steaks, fish that is not part of a sandwich or fried, or just some more 'dinners')...maybe something with some flavors from the area (citrus, fish, etc...)

Four of us stopped at Al's last Tuesday evening for drinks and a light dinner. I ordered a appetizer dip of cheese sauce, chips and salsa. The cheese sauce was good, but the salsa had a strange after taste to it that neither of us liked. The two girls ordered a seafood dipping sauce with flat bread. They were served with chips. When the manager was asked about it she stated that's the way they have been serving them. That wasn't what was on the menu. We requested the flat bread and when it was served, it was cold and burnt black in many spots. I ordered chicken wings which were cooked to oblivion. They had very little meat on them. I asked for mild sauce and it wasn't. I also asked for blue cheese for dipping. It cost extra. The only GOOD thing about the whole ordeal was that the wine and beer were good. The waitress was a good waitress. We are locals and all of us have travelled extensively and love to go out to lunch and dinner. It will be quite some time before we ever go back to Al's. It has been too hit and miss since it opened. PS: forgot to add that I got slammed for a draft beer as we were preparing to leave

Shoulda known: server comes up for drink orders, it's a busy Friday night, They are outta Pepsi , sweet tea and bud light draft, so I go for a water and bud bottle. Our friends arrive to the same confusion. Food: Wife orders French onion soup as as app and a mahi mahi sandwich with fries for her side. After about 30 min we inform the waitress that she wanted the soup as an appetizer she said se didn't understand and brought it out with our dinner Secondly the wifes sandwich was supposed to be served on ciabatta bread, it was on a reg bun, guess they were out of ciabatta bread too.... My black and bleu burger was very unremarkable. The bartender poured the drinks so strong our guests had to keep asking for more sour mix to make them drinkable . We are loyal guests but this place is slipping quickly. From my experience Friday night, they'll be outta business by Christmas. Running out of basics (Pepsi , sweet, bud light draft) points towards some type of cash flow issue!!!!! I WONT BE BACK EVER AGAIN!!!!!

Bartender didn't know how to make a mojito, they were out of almost everything on their menu (the most Boooooring menu ever btw) and their wings were bad. Not bad in a taste kind of way, they just tasted and looked rotten. They were even out of soda. Not just one kind of soda, they were out of SODA. It's such a shame to see a place with so much potential be such a disappointment. So many other things I could pick apart but I'll just say this- this place is pretty much a dump. Don't waste your time or money here. We left after our terrible wings and ended up taking an extra ten minute drive out to Mt Dora.

Great food, friendly and attentive staff, a fantastic view of Lake Dora from their comfortable patio complete with an indoor/outdoor bar...and live music, too!

One star for lives music and one star for the beautiful view. Other than that, the food was expensive and quality was subpar. They ran out of steak so I couldn't order what I wanted. The food took forever to come out because the kitchen was "backed up", even though the restaurant was only 25% full. Then we saw one of the waitresses feasting on a philly cheese steak in the booth across from ours.

Amazing view, feel that gives a tropical vibe. Had a AMAZING Blackened Salmon Salad and they have a surprisingly large amount of craft beers that you cannot find in Tavares! My favorite spot since the first time I visited!

Food came out cold, it was no good anyway, waiter said that they were out of 5 items on the menu, service was average at best, we got to listen to the other staff members talk about how drunk they still were from last night, place was kinda lame for a hangout spot (no women), I'll never come back!

What this restaurant has going for them: excellent view of the marina, and overall more of a lively atmosphere. What I didn't like: the prices are kids outrageous for what you really get. It was $8 for what the menu said "salsa, Queso, and chips" as an appetizer, when in reality it was a small plate of stale cold chips and a couple tablespoons of crappy salsa. The burger I got was mediocre at best, small and resting on an extremely stale bun. The fries were beyond greasy. The service also wasn't great: our waitress told us we should order an appetizer because "the chef was really behind" an that we should only order certain things because "it's Sunday and they run out of a lot of food". She then proceeded to tell us that she doesn't know the menu very well. Overall a mediocre experience, wouldn't go here again.

Took the kids on the cannonball run train, went here for lunch based on the yelp reviews. Decent enough meal but had my credit card stolen. Go to the nearby grill instead or better yet, wait until you get back to Mt. Dora.

Stopped in here for a quick drink during the day and it turned into all afternoon. Only four stars because they only had two beers on tap that day. Great atmosphere, locals, and the bartenders were all very friendly and gave great service. I highly recommend and check out their oysters on weekends!

It looked exactly like the kind of place we love when we saw Al's Landing on Yelp. Two stories, outdoor bar, deck upstairs, all sitting on the water in a quiet area. Sadly, it really wasn't all that we had hoped. It turned out to be a blistering day when we arrived, so we ended up sitting inside. It was comfortable inside, not a whole lot going on during our time there with the exception of what looks to be the regulars at the bar getting drunk at 2pm and yelling out "How many Democrats does it take..." jokes across the room. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer and I ordered the special of the day: Black & Bleu Burger. The calamari was far more fried than calamari, which was disappointing for the price. The burger tasted okay but it had definitely been undercooked on the inside. Luckily it's not something that bothers me enough to return it, so I finished it. Really though, the entire experience was ruined by the flies. Even inside with the doors closed, the instant we received our food we were accosted by about half a dozen of the little buggers. We managed to dispatch a couple of them, once even leaving the carcass on the table as a warning to others. But it had no effect. Honestly, I don't know if or when we'll be back in this neck of the woods. If we were and the weather was better, I'd consider a return visit to sit outside. Maybe revisit the rating under different circumstances.

Atmosphere - good Location - Easy access I love fact you can sit inside or outside Beautiful View Food - overall - really good. Service - slow. Major complaints: My co-worker ordered a cob salad with shrimp - Menu didn't specify she had to pay extra for shrimp. $15.00 for a shrimp salad is expensive, she'd ordered something else if she knew better. They need to reword that make sure people do know there is an extra charge there. We ordered our appetizer - crab and shrimp dip - We didn't receive till we were almost done eating, stuff from our meal and ready to pay. Sadly, we ended up taking it with us, but neither of us felt like eating it since we were stuff from our lunch - ended up being a waste of our money. Icing on the cake - yes this may seem petty since they do say they charge extra for dressing - my Caesar didn't have a lot of dressing on it. So I did ask for extra and I was charged for extra dressing. You'd think after messing up our order with our appetizer they wouldn't have charge for a small amount of salad dressing; however, they did. We enjoyed the food; however, we have decided not to return based on the service.

Having recently moved to beautiful Lake County we were concerned about finding any decent restaurants. Yelp actually failed us a few times because reviewers don't have much to compare anything to in some areas, so a "good" review can take on a whole new meaning in the land of snow birds and old-time Florida crackers. Tavares is great - they have a beautiful park on the water, where there are seaplanes and boats to watch - or ride - and now and then you might see the steam train go by. AL'S LANDING is one of our favorite restaurant.s in Tavares. Great food, atmosphere and service.
