Basically- Ok food I thought (keep in mind I am not big on pork and preferred my dad's brisket)!!!! Some people (my mother in law LOVE their brisket) would come here at least once a week! The cornbread is awesome. Plus the salad bar is nice for veggies and diet followers. It is a good place to take a group because there is something for everyone. So it is worth ordering. But the bigger question is--Is Sonny's really BBQ? NO Okay before before you get angry....It is not that Sonny's is bad! It is actually a good meal, but it does not compare to BBQ places like Fat Matt's in Atlanta and other places that turn BBQ into an art. Seriously!!! For a more detailed review, check out my blog somewhatgourmet.blogspot…

I called in a To-Go order, was placed on hold, but after 3 minutes I hung up and decided to try the drive thru. The drive thru service was friendly, prompt and clear. Receiving the food did require a long wait. Once home, the order was accurate and the food great.

On a 10 day road trip and spent the night in Tallahassee. Looking for a take out place for dinner and came across Sonny's. Out of this world great Bar-B-Q. The pulled pork was wonderful. Service was also very friendly and quick. Next time we are in FL. we will be on the lookout for Sonny's!

For some reason, I thought I didn't like this place -- but I was wrong! Had the chicken, which was cooked perfectly. Great sauces, too. Lots of healthy sides; got the steamed broccoli and baked sweet potato. Will be back soon!

Ate at this Sonny's on the drive back to Gainesville. Nice big parking lot. Great service. Definitely measured up to every other Sonny's I've been to. Drinks to go were greatly appreciated for the drive.

This is a big lunch time stop for me. They always have a special running and the waitresses are quick and friendly. I am partial to the pulled chicken and the brisket but everything is done well. The best part is that I get a full meal with tax and tip and usually spend around $12. Parking lot has plenty live oaks to provide shade for your car on hot days.

Sonny's is a classic "standby" restaurant that we frequent. They serve up delicious sweet tea, great sides, and delicious BBQ. If haven't tried it, be sure to stop by!

I'm very happy because I just left the Brewfest and had deliciously catered food by Sonny's. Not only was the food devine, but a gentleman named CR made the experience that much better. I do not eat pork and he made a special trip to the back to get some for me. This type of customer service makes me a Sonny's fan for life. 4Rivers who? Thanks CR for being "the man". You are the world's greatest. Signed, your new biggest fan

I was not impressed. I ordered delivery. They did not include utensils, napkins or hot sauce. The mac and cheese had an artificial taste. That said, the cornbread was good and so were baked beans.

Pitiful, just pitiful. I'm from Texas and well, ive had better at Arby's. Wait staff good, food not. French fries straight from the freezer, meat looks like re-pressed and processed, like ham. Don't bother.

We use to eat here weekly. However after 4 people we worked with got sick on two different occasions we started to wonder. One was diagnosed with salmonella. We looked at restaurant inspections report online. Appears cross contamination can occur after recent reports. Hope they clean it up it wasn't a bad place to eat but 4 days on the toilet or looking into the toilet wasn't fun. I take food poisoning claims seriously and really hate to mention it unless you have clear evidence.

Stayed in hotel close by looking for something to drive thru to take back to hotel but burnt out on fast food. Read the reviews decided on something else until I drove past & saw drive thru and u turned into Sonnys.quick service drive thru and food was awesome. Great find!

Lush pulled pork, toothsome ribs, an assortment of sauces, what's not to love? Well, perfection would require unsweetened iced tea and a vinegar (not sugar) based sauce. But I'm a Yankee and my barbecue dreams don't really count.

Food was pretty good. We went a half hour before they closed, coming in from outta town, and the only person who acted like we were there was our server. The rest of the employees were obnoxiously loud and walking around the dining area talking the whole time. The interior was seriously outdated, past that if they were going for an old timey western look. First time at a Sunny's and probably last.

  • Lori T.

We shared a BBQ Rib platter. The sauce was awesome and the meat slid off the bone. The price was reasonable. Great place to go for a quick pick up and take home dinner!
