Who's your 'Big Daddy'? Mr. Joe Flanigan that's who! Although he's no longer with us (passed away in 2005), his legacy lives on in his chain restaurants that are peppered across South Florida. Passing through Coconut Grove? They got one there. Surfside? Yup there too. How about Biscayne Blvd? They're everywhere. South Miami, Doral, Kendall, check. You won't go far in South Florida without bumping into this place. Some people compare Flanigans to a TGIFridays or Chili's. I personally think Flanigan's is sooo much better. The ingredients are fresher, especially the seafood - much of which is caught locally. The fresh dolphin (mahi mahi, not Flipper) is to die for. Try it blackened - either the fingers, the sandwich or the dinner platter - you can't go wrong. If you don't care about counting calories, go for the fried dolphin - OMG. Speaking of indulging, my favorite comfort food items on the menu are the "Joe's Rockin' Rib Rolls'. For those who aren't familiar, these are essentially egg roll casing stuffed with shredded baby back ribs, cheese and some kind of dressing (French, I think?). These melt in your mouth and should be banned for tasting so good. Other winners on the menu include the Pasta Caesar salad (add blackened tuna, trust me on this), all of the burgers, the ribs and the dolphin platter. I have yet to try something here that I don't like and rarely ask for the dessert menu because I'm so full. The restaurants are clean and comfortable - traditional booths and tables are scattered about. Fishing memorabilia and boat-related paraphernalia hang from the walls. The bar is separate from the dining room which helps create a cushion from the Happy Hour noise. Speaking of - Flan's always has killer drink specials. If you want the real experience, try the "Flanitini" (includes stirrer stick with Joe Flanigan's head on it). Be prepared for real good, down-home American cuisine. PS - if you are looking to bring home a bottle of booze, Big Daddy liquor stores are often located near, if not directly next to, Flanigan's restaurants. Prices are decent, but Walgreen's or Publix liquors are sometimes cheaper.

When I always go with my wife and spend money at the bar, the treatment is very well. Today I went with my two kids and it was a completely different story. First they gave my table to another group that came after me. They said that they called my number, but they didn't give me any number in the first place. Then they gave me a table with the benches soaking wet. My kids got wet, and the floor was completely wet as well. I complained and the host told me to wait for someone to go and mop it. When I asked for the manager, she offer me another table. The manager came and he didn't give a damn about it. After I told him that they killed my apetite, he just said to me to have a good night. No apologies or explanation whatsoever. It's OK with me. I usually spend $60 or $70 per week in that place. Now I'll spend this amount in another place that appreciates my business.

I think most people in South Florida are familiar with Flanigans. For our out of towners and/or folks living under a rock, it is a nice spot to grab some wings, ribs, beers etc. It's a regional chain and, in my opinion, the food is of better quality than most comparable places and probably better than you would expect. Prices are not bad either. This chain is a great place to start your search for a place to watch the big game.

This place is convenient as we don't have much options in Surfside. Great price and okay food. Nothing too special... The Salad with Ahi is simple, but delicious. Also the kids meal is pretty healthy with broccoli and grill chicken. It is a great place to drink beers and watch games. I just don't think it looks too clean...

If you're from south Florida, chances are, you've been to a Flanigans, the South Florida version of "that American restaurant" that inspired the epic movie, "Waiting", the "Shenaniganz" style and "flair" wearing place American's flock to for half priced cocktails and a 2000++ calorie meal. I love coming here as a constant reminder that this is 'MERICA! All Flanigans decor is exactly the same, halls decked with framed photos of shirtless suntanned men on boats holding their prized catch of the day circa 1987, random boating items hanging on the walls, bobbers/floaters in glass enclosures, and the overall feel that you are at some dive bar in the Caribbean owned by an expat American that just wanted to fish and drink all day and you should just basically be drinking your face off with him as a fellow American. The food here isn't exactly five star but that's not why you come here. You come here for inexpensive cheat day food and to take advantage of those cheap drink prices. FOOD: Stick to the seafood. The dolphin sandwich is really good. If you're not the seafood type, go for the chicken items. Their sauces are delicious. Skip the rices, go for the fries or the onion strings dipped in their house bbq sauce. SPECIALS: There is some kind of food/drink special everyday of the week and after 9:00 PM everyday, it's half priced drinks. PARKING: There is a parking lot just behind the Flanigans that is metered and has a 2 hour limit. All visits come with a side of acid reducer but just keep telling yourself it's worth it.

As one of the few non kosher, casual restaurants in surfside, we eat here a lot. Especially sun - thur when they have their dinner specials. There was a short wait, which is normal as this restaurant is always crowded (again, this is one of few non kosher, casual restaurant) and then we were helped by their hostess who always seems to be in a bad mood. Service here is always hit and miss, with some better than others. Tonight was a miss night. The dinner special comes with a salad and their incredible garlic rolls, but it took so long to get that I honestly thought our entrees would arrive first. They didn't, and we enjoyed the great salad and rolls Both the husband and I ordered the wing special (10 wings, side, salad, rolls and a drink - wine, beer or soda - for $13.99). As always, the food was great. The wings are meaty and nicely seasoned. I get medium which has perfect amount of heat. The only turnoff is they charge extra for celery and carrots, but with so much for $13.99, it is hard to complain. Since service was a miss we didn't get checked on and I had to flag the server down to get a refill, and then again when we wanted boxes and the bill. But she was nice and since we weren't in a rush it wasn't a big deal. Which is why we keep going back. Well, that and the garlic rolls. ;)

We've came to this place twice. It has a great location walking distance from our hotel, and really cheap prices. The staff are really nice. We sat outside and ate their famous ribs. The ribs are good, not as much meat as I was expecting. Drinks are good, happy hour margaritas are $5.

I really really tried to like this place!!! Pros: Conveniently located close to the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside, im talking 3-5 min walk. great drink specials during happy hour, great wings! Great customer service Cons: Smelled like a dirty wet dog! Not very clean. Overall its a kool place with a few tvs to watch sports, a pool table, outside tables and chairs to enjoy the view. So yea ill most likely be back cause its a bar....yep that simple!

First time here. Nice place to chill. We had salad salad . One with crabmeat. Was very good. Service is excellent. Very friendly.! We kept our drinking cup. They over step cards . If you have 10 steps you get on lunch meal free .

We had a great time with friends and family. Server was very patient with our table of 8. The hostess was very accommodating and friendly. All of our food came out at the same time and it was hot and well prepared. Everyone enjoyed their food. The BBQ wings are recommended. The Steak is also a top choice from the table. The restaurant is clean. It's also a sports bar so there are Tv's on ever corner. It's a little noisy but it's a lively fun atmosphere .

  • Nicholas F.

The nachos were awesome and a great value for the price. I had the half rack of ribs and wings for dinner .. The wings were more than your average as far as phenomenal flavor! The ribs were excellent as well! The only thing I did not like was the service .. When they delivered the food they sold the entrees and they should know who got what. I never received a refill on my drink and the server was not attentive and did not check on us!!!! We also did not receive silverware when we were sat or when we received our food! They need to up their customer service! Other than that.. A great meal!

I go to Flanigan's all the time, several locations. This Flanigan's is significantly superior to the many others I've been to. The crowd is a lot calmer and quieter at this location in comparison to those inland. The food is always fresh and the service is always great. I've never had a bad experience here. I recommend this Flanigan's.

I like flannigans but not this one. First of all there was water dripping from the air conditioner above us, so we were moved to another table. Can you guess what happened at the new table, yes you guess it dirty nasty mould water was dripping down again. But this time our food was already on the table. So that nasty moldy disgusting water was dripping on my food. And when the manger Mark the very rude ass manager comes to ask us if everything was ok we tell him the situation and he says there is nothing he can do about it and it just condensation. Condensation, maybe but keep in mind it's from the nasty moldy disgusting air conditioner above us. Do you think he would want that on his food, I would think not. It's not what you say to people it's how you say it. Mark the manager learn how to speak to people of you are going to continue your career in the restaurant industry. I do have one good thing to say about this place, our server Jo was the nicest and most attentive server I have had in a while. If you do go to flannigans please ask for Jo she is amazing!!!!!!!!!

This placed smelled like a wet dirty rag but I still had a couple of drinks, outside. Service was on the slow side but we were on the last table at the end. We had to wait even though there were so many tables vacant but not cleaned. Only plus I had was the waitress was nice and the beers are really cheap.

  • Summer E.

Love this Place! Sometimes the service is on the slow side but the staff is always super friendly. I've never been disappointed with my meal and I've been coming to this establishment for over 10 years. You must try it!

  • Steven K.

I had the ribs with sweet potato fries... Which were amazing. My wife had a Big Daddy Burger with French fries and she liked it a lot. Be sure to take a pitcher on Mondays to get free nachos (big portion)

  • Marina A.

This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We had a server come up to us asking if we have been helped (which we answered no... And we've been sitting there for 15 minutes). The staff didn't know who was serving our section and it took them a very long time to take our order. Not only did it take forever for the waiter to take our order, but it took ages for them to deliver the food to our table! The food itself was barely average. After we finished eating, it once again took a very long time to receive our check. At this point we just wanted to leave so we just paid in cash, didn't wait for our change, and left.

  • Ziyan C.

A big group of us enjoyed a late lunch here. Their prices are reasonable, the server was very sweet, and the servings are huge! The cost came out to $266 total for eight of us.

    (4)
  • Michael S.

I've been here probably about 8 times since moving to Surfside. I come mainly because its a few minute walk from my condo and it provides a good variety. The prices are reasonable and the portions are good. The wings are below average. They don't put sauce on them. The burgers are good. I normally get the meal deal during the week with the half rack of ribs. This comes with their delicious garlic bread and a salad. The service is usually just average.

    (3)
  • Christi B.

I ordered the prime rib (rare) it took a very long time, we finally got our food and it was visible that the prime rib had been sitting in the window forever, I returned it, then the manager Steve brought me the same exact plate but the kitchen just cooked my original piece of prime rib more (I ordered it rare)! and the manager told me it was a new piece. The manager Steve is rude and thinks that it is okay to lie to customers! I really am disappointed, I love Flanigan's but I am questioning coming back!!! The server Ken was very nice! Also the bathroom was disgusting, there was only one stall clean and it smelled like baby poop!

    (2)
  • Rebecca W.

The burger was ok...a bit on the dry side which was odd because I ordered it cooked medium. They always have great drink specials. I love sitting outdoors.

Great place for bar food in Bal Harbour and Surfside. We sat outside and it was shady with a little breeze. The cars didn't bother anyone driving by. Love this place!

  • Risa A.

No service. Waited to be seated and. I one came. Went to the bar and they said we needed to wait for a server. Not organized!?

  • Sam L.

Flanigan's is THE local hotspot. They have awesome deals and a huge selection of menu items. The food is typically really good; you can't go wrong with anything (except the prime rib, which can be really really fatty most of the time). The quality of service you'll get depends on which server you get. It's either really good, or really bad. All in all, this place kicks ass.

  • Stefani N.

We had just arrived into town after a long drive and we're tired and hungry. Flanigan's was busy and it had some good reviews so we decided to check it out. They have a large varied menu. Husband ordered the tilapia sandwich and I ordered a regular hamburger dear daughter ordered french fries. Our food came out nice and hot everything was exactly as we ordered. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars was 1) $5.00 for a side of french fries - but they we're delicious! 2) our wait person did not come back and check on us for a long time after she brought the food out - my husband was mostly finished by the time I got to ask for mustard for my burger and 3) we were close enough to the kitchen to hear all the laughter and sillyness going on among the staff - I was a little annoyed with that especially in light of the fact I was waiting for our weight person to come out so I could get the mustard. The only reason we didn't go back on this trip is because we wanted to try other restaurants. Next trip it will probably be our first stop again!

We at there Saturday night and food and service sucked. The manager Steve was the biggest prick I have ever met. My daughter ordered shrimp scampi and there were GIGANTIC pieces of barely cooked onion. Manager Steve explains to me that all scampi has onion in there and basically tough that theirs has onions in there. He wouldn't even check to see how disgusting the dish was. For this debacle he offered a stinkin soup for our troubles and when we asked for just a piece of key lime pie for our Crappy food he said NO and insisted that we can have soup. Egotistical creep. Waiter was so bad because they gave him too many tables. My tuna sandwich could not be eaten as a sandwich because the cut of tuna literally had to be cut with a knife because it was so tough. DIGUSTING. SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Eat across the street at Sushi Republic.

  • Joeseph S.

I was visiting from Baltimore and found this place up the street from my hotel. The food was pretty good as was the service. I can see why there are so many fat people with these serving sizes. I say check it out. BTW, I just can't eat dolphin. Aren't they our ocean friends?

Maybe I'm being biased, maybe I'm not but I do love Flanigan's. I've been going to Flanigan's for years, however I do have to try and be fair and balanced when making this review: Pros: -the location is great right on surf side, very Jewish and safe neighborhood so nothing to worry bout -the food I love the food it may not be a 5 star fountainblu hotel type of restaurant but it's good and decent. -they always have drink specials half off almost and I mean almost all day everyday. As well as for food - the environment is friendly and family friendly. Cons: -parking can be a real B**** so be patient -the staff can sometimes seem lost and confused but they are attentive however well at least the ones I have had. -when it's sports season it's best to be away from bars that's where all the rowdy football NBA fanatics (like me) go to yell and scream. I recommend!!!!

Don't come here Friday night. The waitresses are few and incompetent. The hostess Jackie said they're short on staff and the waitress is I overwhelmed because she has 4 tables! My girlfriend was a server who could run this place with her eyes closed. She handled far more tables at any given night. The Spanish waitress here had a "deer in the headlights look" from being overwhelmed and is beyond incompetent. I like this place during happy hour but this is absurd. to be fair, the daytime is good, the bartender is always quick and on point and the wings are great. although this is the 3rd time i was here with poor service-i think they're desperate perhaps and not hiring experienced quality servers. ** update: this is a great place for lunch and drinking at the bar, but I still feel like the waitstaff can't handle any kind of rush. They always seem overwhelmed and you wait a while with an empty drunk glass at the table as you eat. But the wings and 1/2 chicken special are great. The burgers and salmon are fine but nothin to brag about.

    (2)
  • Lacey B.

Bad service. Bad food. Bad management. Bad hospitality, if any. Waited thirty minutes for a diet coke. Waited a hour and a half for a burger, that I asked to be medium, and it came out well done. Our server Carlos was drunk off his ass, the manager did little to make sure everything was okay, if anything at all. And on top of that, in the beginning the host told us we could move tables together to all sit together, then told us we couldn't, didn't suggest anything to remedy the situation, and walked away. Then they told us we could and just walked away. Awful.

    (1)
  • Larry S.

This is out favorite Flanigans because the one on Biscayne doesn't have large tables. Nice people, good service, and they can handle larger parties.

    (5)
  • Chris S.

Flanigan's came highly recommended by a few locals to us out of towners and we learned quickly it's a great spot for casual dining that offers an alternative to many of the local high end establishments. If you want to watch a sporting event this place is littered with TV's. The food, however, is average and well priced. You aren't going to break the bank here and will leave satisfied. We ordered a bunch of local dishes: the peel and eat shrimp, dorado fingers and steamer clams, all of which came well prepared and tasted fresh. The gumbo was pretty good as were the crispy wings. There's nothing to complain about here.

  • Diane N.

My friends love to go here for happy hour. When I join them we split the loaded nachos, which is huge. I love their special frozen drinks, although I can never taste much liquor in them. They usually have daily specials, which are written on a blackboard. My mom likes their prime rib or baby back ribs. For dessert the key lime pie is delicious. The service is usually good. If you go to this Flanigan's be aware that the tip is already on your bill.

I Love Flanigans,Its my go to food and bar resto,Came to this location twice and both time it good.Good but not great ,but I love the service at Biscayne Blvd more!

Came here because it was the only thing opened near my hotel when I arrived to Miami. The only way you can order take out is at the bar with the bartenders which took a while to actually get the bartender attention. When I did he took my order, I got a small clam chowder, loaded nachos, shrimp & chicken Cajun pasta and the chicken slicker dinner in mild sauce and fries. The bartender took my order but apparently the kitchen staff never got the order so when I asked for a updated they had no idea what I was talking about and the bartender who took my order left so they had to rush and cook my food. Overall, the food was good big portions and the price was cheap, all that food and I spent $48 which I thought was good compare to the other restaurant prices that I saw. Just wish the staff was more attentive and professional, saw another bartender each food out of a container and rub his fingers on his shirt and then made someone a cocktail and acted like nothing was happening.

Best food in the area. Stayed at a nice hotel within walking distance but the food here is better and much cheaper. Andrea is the best bartender ever. Always has a sunny disposition.

Stopped here for lunch. They have a bunch of that pay parking behind the building so I parked there. Inside the place was very dark, and we found our way to the hostess station and were seated in the bar area. The place did not feel super clean, but maybe that was just because it was so dark. Our waitress finally came to get our order, and I ordered a beer, a burger and a baked potato. The beer did not taste right. I tasted like they needed to clean their lines. The burger was cooked fine and tasted good. The baked potato wasn't bad either. The service was painfully slow, and I had to flag other servers down to get our waitress. I would not recommend anyone go here, and I would not go back.

Quite disappointing dinner last night. We ordered the flanigan burger with sweet potato fries and the loaded nachos. The patties was good, well cooked and big (10 oz) but i didn't really like the bun which was dry and didn't taste fresh and moist as a regular bun. There was however a good amount of melting cheese, onions and mushrooms. The fries were good, crispy but soft inside. They really tasted like sweet potato and not only the fry. The loaded nachos were a big disappointment. It was huge but only very generous in chips. Only the top was cheesy and there was only a little bit of chili inside but not much. Many chips were left naked and that was disappointing. Not dessert but they have a massive brownie i might try next time. I might also try their ribs if we come back.

  • Melissa L.

Service is very slow at this flannigans and there is always a long wait. The food is usually good though! The best thing on the menu is the lemon pepper tilapia. There is one waiter there who is always scratching his head while he is serving dishes.

  • Desi H.

Worst Server ever, Manager Steve is Rude. We walked in and there was no hostess. When we ran into someone and she said seat yourself. So we did and when we did, the table was dirty. No one came to clean the table for six mins. When our server finally cam, he acted like he was doing us a favor and said, I'm going to take this table cause no one else does. How #Rude. When we spoke to Manager Steve he walked away before we could finish our concerns. Needless to say we won't be back and won't be sending any friends/ neighbors here.

It's mediocre at best. Watch out for bri and Brian. After giving more than 100 percent tip at first before hand. Then put so much money in juke box. Happy new years mother fuckers. No Worries you'll busy still but these two are perfect for communist regime. I want to tell bri to kiss my ass

Flanigan's is a great place for family, food, and fun! They have awesome lunch specials and everything on the menu is fair game. My personal favorites are the GARLIC ROLLS, burgers, and fish sandwich! Yes, I know garlic roLLs at a seafOOd bar & griLL right?!?! But, yes, go for it! I would probably have them as a meal if I were stiLL in coLLege. Brian at the bar is fun, aTTentive, and quick! They have darts & a biLLiard table in the back. It is no wonder they have bEEn around for over 30 years..GO FLANNYS! Best location in Miami, but I am a beach bias bafOOn loll..try saying that thrEE times fast.

This Flannigans location is more of a neighborhood joint than anything else in my mind. The food is consistently good - it's not your typical bar food. Good pics are the Cesar Burger (they do everything Ceaser well), the Dolphin - blackened preferably - and the desserts are delicious and LARGE. The place has great deals for every day of the week and especially for those game watching type fans! Beer, wings, ribs and all tht good stuff. Still, it's family friendly and many dining rooms to choose from. Does get packed though!

  • Jose B.

I keep trying to find a more filling burger than their wonderful Texas burger. In this location the service and quality of the food has always been very consistent. My second option in the menu is the dolphin sandwich. If you love mahi mahi, don't spend the big bucks in a fancy restaurant. this place knows how to cook it well, deep fried, grilled or blackened. their lunch menu and kids menu are really good and the portions are what you would expect of a real american restaurant. The wings are great and the loaded nachos even better. A veggie burger will make it a more complete family friendly place.

Flanigan's has always been one of those go-to restaurants for my friends and I. I have very fond memories of long summer days during high school where we would spend the whole day at the beach and end our day at Flanigan's. Basically everything on the menu is delicious. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a meal. Over the years my favorite dish has changed but no matter what I always find my way back to each and every one of them. My number one recommendation on the menu is the Caesar Burger. What is the Caesar Burger you ask? This is a special menu item that Flanigan's likes to keep secret. Yes, it is not on the menu, but you can still order it. The thing is amazing and a nice side of curly fries tops off the meal. If you somehow still have room for dessert you need to get the banzai brownie. This dessert is not for the faint of heart and usually needs to be shared with about 4 people. If you can top one off on your own, you've just become my hero. I can't complete my review without talking about the happy hour. And boy, does Flanigan's know how to do happy hour! Monday-Friday from 4pm-7pm every alcoholic beverage is half off. If that doesn't sound good enough, they do it all over again from 9pm-closing every night. Honestly, it just doesn't get any better than that. I don't think I can say anything else about Flanigan's that hasn't already been said. It's just one of those places that everyone loves and where you can get a great meal for a decent price. The happy hour is also another reason Flanigan's can hardly be beat.

Just finished a Sunday dinner in a booth near the bar to watch the NFL game. Our server was very polite and helpful, other staff delivered our salads and entrees to the table. The server checked on us and was quick to refill our drinks. The drinks special 50% off after 9:pomp are a great added bonus to this local spot

I like this chain-- they give temporary tattoos with their kids meals!!! Anyway after eating at an Olive Garden today (ew gross but omg yesssss) this place is way better if you are going to go the chain route (regional chains usually are). The food is good! I had a great salad w/ fried chicken tenders, and the last time I went I had a burger. Its kid-friendly and has sports TVs on. And I love the souvenir cups. The guy is pretty creepy looking though.

This is a great spot for American food. It is god if you don't mind waiting a while for food or service. Everything I have been here the wait hasn't been bad to get a seat, but once you order don't get in a hurry. The quantity of the food makes up for the wait. My advice is to order 1 thing for 2 people to get things going quickly and still leave full.

Moved to Miami last January and have probably eaten at Flanny's 3 times a week ever since. Food is awesome and fast drink prices are insane for Miami and the Bartenders Jospeh Erika Tj and eveny daytime mike totally Rock. 100% recommend checking them out. A matter of fact i just got hungry #Takeouttime

Having lived in beach communities has probably jaded me against chain-like beach bar/restaurants. I found this one to just be meh. I'm going to first review the food and then I am going to review the weirdest service I have ever had in a restaurant and it was weird! I had the tuna sandwich philly cheesesteak style. I am sure this was not the name on the menu but this is what the sandwich was. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of tuna on the sandwich which was served with peppers, onions and a bright orange cheese (cheddar maybe?). It was okay. I also had a baked potato it was a baked potato unless someone really elevates the level of a baked potato there is not too much to say about one. My fiance had a burger that he seemed to enjoy. On to the service......We were seated immediately and then our waitress came by and took our orders, pretty normal. It then took quite a bit of time to get our drinks which were finally delivered by someone else. Our food was then delivered again by someone else. Our waitress then came by at which time she asked me how I liked my sandwich. I said it was fine and she said, "huh" and walked away. It made me a little uncomfortable to finish my sandwich. She then came back and asked if we had seen the new $100 bill. We said we had at which time she started talking about counterfeit money and all of the weird stuff she had seen at her previous job working at the airport. We asked her what kind of weird stuff she had seen. She asked us where? At the airport you worked at. Why would I have seen anything weird? Because you said that you had seen weird stuff. I never saw anything weird. I never looked at anything. If I had looked at stuff and seen anything weird then I would of had to have reported it. But you said you saw weird stuff. Where? It was seriously a who's on first situation.

The service was ridiculously slow and the waitress blamed everything else, but herself. We're in Miami and chose to sit outside under the awning despite the rain. Ultimately she told us we would "get better service if we sat inside". Really?? Spoke to the manager who said our drinks were slow because we asked for Stolle. We didn't. The food and drinks were good but not worth an hour and a half and see through excuses.

I came here to watch a college basketball game on an obscure channel, and the manager made it happen to accomodate us. A lot of HDTV's all around, and we were seated quickly without an attitude. After 9pm, they have 1/2 price drinks. The burgers are about as affordable as you can find in SoFla. The loaded baked potato is very good option. Stay away from the desserts. Ugh. Only other negative thing here is pay lot parking.

Visited here for the first time while on vacation from New York. Service was very good. Food was excellent and the price was outstanding. My husband's burger was cooked perfectly (rare). The pork sandwich was fabulous. It's not a 5 star restaurant but it certainly deserves 5 Yelp stars. Would definitely come again.

Flanigan's is a place that my normal self might not ever patronize, but it's a place that Vacation Christina absolutely adores. Why is that? It's a somewhat cheesy fisherman-themed chain restaurant, similar to a TGI Fridays, with lots of deep fried items, huge desserts, and lots of locations everywhere that probably look exactly the same. But Vacation Christina enjoys things that my normal self doesn't, such as dirt cheap prices on watery light beer, anything with air conditioning on a hot Miami day, and an easy place with friendly service to fall back on. As for the food, I had decent and tasty choices both times I was there. My burger was just average, but the mahi mahi fliet that I tasted was excellent, as was the obscenely large Shenanigans dessert, which is a huge piece of apple pie serving as a base for an equally large ice cream sundae. Yes, it's as disgusting as it sounds, in the best way possible. For some reason the weekend we were there the waitstaff was all about pushing the firecracker shrimp on us, so we tried it a couple of times, and it's a fatty delight: deep fried shrimp pieces topped with a spicy, mayo-filled sauce. Again, not something I would think to order in normal life, but indulgent and good. Didn't love the limp iceberg salad it came on, though. One of the best times I had on my trip was cozying up at a booth one evening with my friends, eating that Shenanigans, having beer, and playing with the Trivial Pursuit cards they have at each table. Simple fun, but I can't deny that Flanigan's brought the good times!

Am I giving Flannigan's four stars? Yes, yes I am. We were walking around Surfside on a GORGEOUS Saturday and there really weren't many appealing places open. Normally I'm not interested in bar food joints but my husband had never been to a Flannigan's so we figured why not. I love love the nautical decor and the room we were sat in had the windows open in letting the breeze in and it was so nice. Our waitress was awesome, friendly, quick and helpful. I was happy to see that not all the meals were diet busting. I had a cup of the seafood gumbo and the dinner salad- yum! Everything was fresh and that pairing was about $9. The gumbo was packed with shrimp, fish and other goodies. Also had the right amount of spice. The salad was also nice and fresh. My husband had the Texas burger which had blue cheese and crispy onions. The bite I had was quite tasty and he seemed happy, so that's good. Definitely will keep in mind for future visits to Surfside or even for game day next college football season.

Went last night with my boyfriend. We go to Flanigans all the time. But last night I had really bad service. And I work in a restaurant, so I know how things should work the server we had. Rob" didn't seem very happy. He took our order. Wings hot sause on the side a bake potato. Coke and half stack of ribs. I dont know if the music was too loud so he couldn't hear us. I dont know. But 15 mins wings came out. Our hot sauce was on the wings. It took us 10 mins to get someone attention. Sent them back. My bake potato was over cooked not his fault. And the ribs never came. We only saw our server 3 times. To take our order to fix our order and to give us the check. It was like he was too busy for us. We paid and left. I looked for a manager before we left. Not one in sight. So I left. I love Flanigans but I hate the the service I got last night.

I've always liked Flanigan's in general, but this particular Flanigan's is my new favorite! My wonderful experience started on Saturday afternoon when I called to confirm that I would be able to view my college football game of choice at their establishment. The very friendly Monique said, "We can put on whatever game you want to watch". Right answer! Our group of 7 arrived and we opted to sit at the bar. Monique remembered talking to me earlier and tuned the TV across from us to the Rutgers - Tulane game. She and TJ took excellent care of us all night - bringing us $1 off New Castle drafts (!!!) and reminding us at 9pm that ALL drinks were half off. Half off of already reasonably priced drinks! I think the standard American drafts were $2 before happy hour. I mean really? It's cheaper to drink here than at home! A few of the ladies in our group ordered Cosmos and enjoyed them very much. The food was also reasonably priced, generously portioned and absolutely delicious! The other patrons were locals, just out to enjoy a night of college football and beer. No douche-baggery to be found in the whole place!

My favorite Flanigan's location - been going to this place for over 15 years, and love it. The ribs are one of the best ever, the burgers are great, and the drink specials are fantastic. When Football season hits, there's no better place to come for a Monday Night game - if you order a pitcher of any beer or soda (who's gonna order a pitcher of Soda??) you get a loaded nachos free....after 10pm, order another pitcher, and get a dozen wings free!! Gotta love it!

Every time that I go to this place I see everyone smiling and working hard. Customer service is great at this place and always enjoy to go in! Not to mention it is so close for me and convenience, food is great for all the burger lovers, salads drinks etc... I recommended for family and friends!

I hate it, my boyfriend loves it. The atmosphere is divey- dark and loud. The seafood is concerning especially because they identify as a seafood and american grill. All items with crab are made with "krab", not the real thing. Really? At a "seafood" restaurant? The rest of the menu is eh- don't order the ribs. They are small and dry. Service is average, good drink specials.

A nice place, with very nice staff. Of course, this is pub food, but for a sunny afternoon with a wife who needs a fresh beer and a kid who needs a place to eat and rest, it was perfect. The special burger was very good, didn't need any desert!

Great local place. BBQ chicken is very good, burgers are tasty. Consistent. Service is spotty at times, but they try real hard. Baked potatoes are very good. Fries leave something to be desired.

We went with a table of eight. Service was fine, but food took forever to get there. The french fries and rice were cold. The food was good, but nothing memorable. Everyone did like the ribs and the dolphin fingers were fresh & hot.

This is my new go to spot on my days off. Great lunch deal and I like to ride my bike to the beach and stop in for a beer on my way back home. Brian is a great bartender and the food and prices can't be beat. I'm a sucker for an Irish pub, so that combined with the fishing vibe makes it a great place to hang out. I really recommend. My only issue is service is hit or miss at the tables. They have some great servers and some that are very poor and hardly seem to care. Gratuity is included, so I always leave at least that, but the extra on top is usually given when I get that good service. It makes all the difference.

I thought the ribs were excellent. A little pricey but very good. The medium hot wings were not. Overall a good meal.

Okay, so I might be a little sweet on Big Daddy Flanigan. Every time I dine here I have a wonderful flashback to spring break in Daytona Beach where my high school friends and I partied like rock stars for 10 days straight. Flash forward and I'm now staying in Bal Harbour (still on spring break) but a very different experience with Big Daddy Flanigan. I dined at noon on a Tuesday. There were a few guys at the bar (already) but no one else inside. I sat outside and enjoyed the cool Miami temperature. The lunch specials are the best bargain on Miami Beach. For $5.99 you can get a huge 10oz burger and fries or a big chicken sandwich or soup and salad or tasty chicken wings. Try eating at Micky Dees for this price. My burger was cooked to perfection and there were so many fries they were falling off the plate. Service is always professional. These are real waiters not kids working after school. Very attentive and so polite. My only issue is that they consider Surfside a tourist zone and include the tip on the bill for all those "Europeans" who pretend to not understand American tipping. Even with the few extras I ordered I felt that $1.66 as a tip was unfair to anyone who served a full lunch service to me. I had to disagree with Big Daddy on this and give my server just a little more that was well deserved.

This has always been my favorite Flanigan's location. The environment is chill, the burgers never disappoint, and the service is always spot on. It's located in Surfside, which is cool, if you're loaded with green, I guess. For broke people, such as myself, I can only enjoy the like of a fair-priced, gigantic burger while watching a game of basketball, and pretending to be some post-Jock. As for the food, I mean, everyone talks about the ribs, but I'm too attached to their burger to even make an attempt to make a switch. All of their burgers are top notch, by the way. Ironically, out of the thousand of times I've been here, I've yet to have tried their Seafood. Perhaps, someday...

Despite the careful consideration given our group by the kind and cute waiter Fernando who was as attentive as possible (but apparently the bar couldn't keep up with either him or us; he had to repeatedly ask them to fulfill drink order refills and we kept getting our drinks delivered out of synch - food was delivered timely and all at the same time) I have to mention that their steak special is still no match for Capital Grill so CG certainly lucked out in this regard. No, this steak was prepared to order as a medium rare (hurrah!) and while not quite the "shoe leather" Capital Grill (heartlessly) served up at a Spice Menu, I'd say this one was more of a .... um..... a flip flop. Still Flanigans has great happy hours (starting again at 9:00 PM) and consistently good drinks. My companions' had a shrimp number which was polished off while the other had their hot wings (doused in garlic) and she seemed pretty content. I'll return, for sure, if only to batt my eyes at Fer.

Let's call this what it is, not 5 star dining, it is a bar tavern, sports bar, casual family restaurant that I have been going to for well over 20 years at various locations. You can't go wrong with this place, this chain and family of restaurants though as the food quality and pricing is consistent, drink prices more than reasonable and service fast and efficient over numerous visits. I can sit here and describe in details the various dishes that have been consumed over the years, but rather just keep it basic as the food always is good no matter what you order. By far aside from the daily specials, nightly specials etc is Joes Meal Deal which after choosing your variety of entree's you receive a Large Caesar Salad with croutons and bacon bits. An order of soft soaked in butter & garlic rolls and your entree with side. By far and I say this without hesitation the finest baby back ribs I've ever eaten anywhere every single time you order them. Large rack, fall off the bone with great tangy sauce. More sauce available with containers on the table. Sides range from vegetables, fries, baked potatoes, dirty rice etc. Meal deal also includes choice of soft drink or draft beer and if you choose an Iced tea or pink lemonade they are bottomless refills. For $18.99 full rack with all of the above I seriously doubt there is finer overall option anywhere. Been many times but Ribs were so good last night I had to give them a big thumbs up!

You cannot go wrong with this place, this chain and family of restaurants. Good food, good service, just great people serving their community for a long time. If you are looking for a no frills American bar fare with weekly fresh catch of the day specials,.. or a chill place to watch a game with friends and drink a little too much,. go to your local Flanigan's... There's a good chance you'll meet your local community leader/ politician that when once drinking, can easily be persuaded to change that traffic pattern outside your home.... Thank you sir. 1/2 Off all Drinks Everyday After 9:00pm. $4.99 Lunch Special (Mon-Fri 11am-4pm) With Beverage purchase: -10 oz. burger w/potato or rice -1/2 BBQ Chicken w/potato or rice -10 wings w/ potato or rice - Bbq Chicken Sandwich or - Pasta salad w/ tuna, crab or chicken salad Review is for the Surfside location,. but same would apply for Doral and da Grove.

This restaurant is the place to go for ribs and seafood. I like coming to this place because it's a fun atmosphere with your sports games on TVs, you can sit around the bar or get a table. Lots of family's as well as singles.

Love this place....Food has been delicious, drinks and happy hour are great.... I don't think its a great place to watch a Sports Game if you expect that BIG GAME Energy, but it's still great.

My wife & I went to Flanigan's following a friend's recommendation. We had driven most of the day and did not eat much... quite hungry. It was early, around 5 pm and we were seated immediately near the bar. It is a sports bar type of place with a pretty standard menu. We ordered tried and true entrees: baby ribs for my wife and prime rib for myself. We shared a salad. The salad was generous and fresh, great start! Ribs were excellent, falling off the bone and had a little zest to the taste. The prime rib came medium well exactly as ordered. Most important, the meat itself is surely U.S. prime. Delicious. (Several chains seem to have switched to an inferior cut of beef during the last 14 months.) Happy to see that Flanigan's continue to maintain its quality of food. Delicious food, cheerful service, super!

Monday: Loaded nachos, Tuesday: tumbeweed onion strings, Wednesday: 10 WINGS!, thursday: smoked fish dip. enjoy everyone!

There are so many great places in Surfside, don't waste your money at this place. Its just a fast food chain that looks like a pub from the outside. I was drawn in thinking we could get a great burger. The service is fine but the food is truly low grade. Dry burger and dry grilled fish sandwich---both tasted like a dirty grill that never gets cleaned. Baked potato was dry like the potato was past its prime and the sour cream tasted odd. I saw the ribs at the table next to me and they also looked dry dry dry. The guy was trying to gnaw through them with an unhappy look on his face. So if you enjoy good food, keep walking past this place. If you like mediocre food at moderate prices then I guess it's for you.

Haven't been to this chain yet, so we figured we would try it. The food was quite good, I had some pan fried mahi. Service was good, beer was decent. Price was good, and the place was pretty funny as far as being stright out of the 60s. They seem to have some much better late night deals (after 8 or 9). I am sure I will be back.

I live within walking distance from this dive. I kept thinking it was me. That I'm too picky and that the food must be ok since to me it was below par. Tonight sealed the deal. I've gone (3) times. And, 3 times the food was less than expected; however, except for tonight the servers have always been friendly. Not only was the food quite tasteless, the server couldn't have cared less. She ignored us and spent her time elsewhere. She did say: "You want a box?" Then proceeded to add the standard 15% gratuity. I'm a minimum 20% tipper. I called the manager and ask that her tip be removed. Crumby food + no service = zero for the tip jar. Just not the vibe I'm looking for when I choose to dine out. You'll like this place if you like loud mouthed drunks and cheap food.

  • Teresa K.

The decor was kitchy and fun. The service was excellent. I wasn't totally wowed with my meal but I also got the burger whereas I am sure most people who come here get fish. I was just in a burger mood for some reason. It was tasty even though I am sure there are other things on their menu that are more signature to their menu. My husband said his fish was awesome. I will definitely try this place again. It is a great casual place for drinks and food. Lots of drink specials, good variety on their menu and reasonable prices.

  • Ryan E.

This is a cool place to go if you want just some good pub food. I got the wings which were great. Some friends got the burgers and fish sandwhiches where were good too. I like how they actually gave bags of ice to put in the pitchers so they wouldn't get cold. That's a nice added touch. If you are visiting Miami, then go to a nice place for some good memories, but if you just want to catch a game while at the beach or after some boating, this is a great joint.

I'm going to be honest here & tell you guys something I don't tell many people, I actually really love chain restaurants. I know, why?! We're in Miami were there are many small businesses to choose from and while I love to support them too there's just something about knowing your going to get a consistent plate when you walk in somewhere. I've been here a few times now as its close to home and every time has been pretty good. I didn't really love this place until last night. Why you might ask, well because I found out the have late night happy hour from 9 pm to close (2am) 50% off all drinks! That made my girlfriends beer $1.50 and my frozen drinks $1.99 are you kidding? For 6 drinks, 20 wing and fries we paid $44 (that's including tax and 15% grat.) I am in love, and you will find my happy self parked here at least once a week after 9 ;)

  • A S.

I would have given it four stars if tables and benches had been clean. The food, very consistent. Ribs are very good as are the hamburgers and the steaks. On my last visit, server was too pushy trying to up-sell. If I tell you I am not drinking tonight, you can save the whole explanation of cocktails, special drinks and deals before and after the meal. Oh, and please don't ask me how my food is right after I take a huge bite. It's common sense. But again, this type of Miami service is forgivable, specially if food is good. Usually you get a good server here. Try Flanigan's.

Love this Flanigans! Its located 1 block from my job at the Bal Harbour Shops and I come here for lunch with my wife all the time. They have some great lunch specials and you can usually enjoy a big lunch for a pretty great price. They also have their "lunch cards" where you get a stamp for every meal you enjoy here, and on your tenth meal, lunch is free! Service is hit or miss. We've had some great waiters and some truly awful ones. The young man behind the bar who does the take-out orders (I forget his name) is AWESOME! He's really nice and does a great job. Kudos to him! If you don't want to spend a small fortune by eating at the Bal Harbour Shops, then stop in at Flanigans for some burgers and fries and appetizers. Favorite dish: Chicken Stickers, Medium, with honey mustard and fries! yum!

Flaaaaaaan's Surfside. Basically our second kitchen. They never disappoint, I always get excited to go, and their staff makes it even better. Seriously have never gone to one restaurant so many times. It's kinda weird, but their quality and diverse menu always has something for whatever mood you're in, and they have a solid line-up of draft beer which is clutch. The bar is also nicely stocked and you cannot beat their happy hour. Dolphin Fingers are so perfect, we get them almost every time. There's also plenty of pictures (just like at every Flans) of a guy who lived the most amazing life ever everywhere and TVs for all your sport viewing needs.

Walking down the sidewalk on beautiful surfside, all of the sudden you smell the aroma of a grilled steak....you are next to Flannigans, sure why not? The menu is awesome , the sazon is finger lickin, lip smakin food. Try the loaded nachos, the FIlet Mignon is buttery smooth like silk.... Im a fan !

I'm just not a big fan of Flanigan's. The menu just doesn't excite me. However, they are very consistent and can be counted on for good bar food and great drink specials. One other issue with this Flanie's is the parking. You'll have to pay metered parking. Luckily you can now use plastic to pay for parking.

I visited Bal Harbour in June 2013 and one afternoon had a chance to stop by Flanigan's. The food was good, but the service was EXCELLENT. Unfortunately I forget the name of the server, but he was awesome. He was a real PRO, very attentive, excellent attitude, made it super comfortable and easy. A + + +

I am so disgusted with this place. All alone for the day I decided I wanted my favorite dish I always get. But because I don't choose to sit all alone by myself in the restaurant I am not allowed to order it. That is for dine in only. I was told. When I asked for a manager he said he couldn't because he would get in trouble with corporate. But I could order it all separately and pay much more and have less quality food by the time I got home. He felt it was not right and his name was Michael. A nice guy but chose to lose me as a customer for good. I don't like being discriminated against for any reason. Let alone for being alone. That is wrong. I am so upset because my family loves eating at flanigans but because of this they won't get to ever again. Discrimination is WRONG! And I won't tolerate it from someone I am giving my hard earned money to. You want my money you have to take care of me. And I was not taken care of. I was humiliated because my family was not with me. But if I was a loser and wanted to sit at the bar by myself getting drunk they would be ok with that. Never again. update...corporate manager called me back and was one of the most rude and nasty people i have ever talked to in a long time...she didn't care how i was made to feel by this situation and she told me under no certain terms was the policy going to change and she didn't care that i thought it should be changed...this just solidifies my stance of NEVER giving my money to these people ever again

Consistency. Flanigan's has got that successful business trait down pat. YOU CANNOT BEAT A 50% OFF HAPPY HOUR ON ALREADY REASONABLY PRICED DRINKS! You can't. So don't try. Especially when it's 50% off EVERYTHING! Once again: Can't beat it. Don't try. The food is consistently good enough for slurping down cheap top shelf liquor. I like their wings and the burger isn't too bad either. After 9pm, I fall in love with Flanigan's all over again. For the sake of perspective, I spent less than $20 on 3 drinks, 2 shots and an order of wings. Hello! I haven't found a better happy hour and trust me, I've searched. The bartenders are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed with all kinds of people hanging out, having a good time. Try it out. If ya don't like it, have a drink on me. ;-)

If you've ever been to Flanigan's then, well, it's a Flanigan's. Every time I've been here, I've had good food & good service. I would say the only downside to this place is that since it's on the beach, you have to pay to park. It's sort of expected but such a hassle when getting take-out. I would suggest that they add one or two "to-go" spots. Also, the owner of the Flanigan's liquor store is extremely tow-happy or so I've been told by a few employees.

The new firecracker shrimp are good! The beer specials are why i think people keep on coming. The crab is more like Krab so watch out for that. It's a bar with bar food.

The best bargain on the beach with amazingly consistent food and outstanding service!!! The most unbeatable lunch deal anywhere on the beach: 10oz. cheeseburgers with fries, wings with fries, huge pasta salads topped with tuna, crab or chicken, soup and salad, soup and sandwich, 1/2 bbq chicken, and more are only $5 each with purchase of any beverage until 4pm. Even better, they give you a lunch card that is welcome at any Flanigans that will make every 10th lunch free. Can't get there until after 4pm? Then enjoy 1/2 priced happy hour (pints are less than $2) until 7. I can't speak any higher of the service here, always welcoming and friendly. I maybe go for lunch there once every two months or so at most and the bartender Brian always greets me by name and most other customers as well. Free to read newspapers can be found on the bar. Sporting events and news channels are on the TV's.

Ahhhh,,my dear Flanigan's. This is the hot spot for Bal Harbour,,Surfside,,Bay Harbour Island and Indian Creek. Sometimes,,the service could be a little bit better considering the fact that it is such a local place. You'll find it all here. Pretty ritzy for a sports bar but there's always an occasional weirdo. As for their 1/2 price happy hour from 9pm-close,,Well good luck finding that somewhere else in Miami. If you're hungry,,go for the wings,,blackened Mahi sandwich,,steamers or Philly cheesesteak. Their curly fries are good too. Tried and true,,Flaningan's,,what would we do without you?! Much love.

Out of all the Flanigans in Miami this one is my fave and not just becasue its 5 min from my house. Its the usual bar food but they have my favorite wings!! I usually always get the same thing and so does my husband but we know that with them we can hardly go wrong. Yes, they have off nights sometimes but its very rare. This place a good standby for the nights i dont want to cook.

drinks are stiff and the food is greasy! PERFECT! we had a friend that worked at the bar there and we'd go when she was working. we drank many nights away there and walked home a couple too. i've been to a couple flanny's in my day and this one has the best atmosphere and crowd. you can always find someone to chat with at the bar who is a long time local or visiting on business. their food is ok, i like their ceasar salad, chicken wings, fish sandwich, steaks and clam chowder.

I tried the dolphin fingers. I thought that I was eating dolphins, but I was wrong. They're actually mahi mahi. (Phew! Now I could look dolphins in the eyes when I swim with them.) The dolphin fingers taste like school cafeteria fish to me. The ribs, gumbo soup, and steak were okay. The seafood gumbo soup has verrry little seafood in it... just mostly chicken. What a rip off. As for the ribs and the steak, they were okay... maybe really good if you're drunk or super hungry, but in reality they're just okay. I highly recommend the fried shrimp. It's the only dish that I think stands out because of the seasoning in the batter. It's also nice and crunchy. Our server was really nice and attentive... she has to be since 15% tips is automatically added onto the bill at this location. In my opinion, save your money for some good seafood.

Love this place. Joe's rib rolls are so good. Tumbleweed (fried onions) tuesdays and wing wednesdays are great. Wish beer pitchers were cheaper, still cool place. Also they have fun trivia games you can play while drinking.

Yes Yes...I was staying in North Miami for work and was looking for some food late at night. Since my friend and I are not familiar with North Miami, I decided to open up my trusty Yelp and look for some late night recommendations. And, this is how I come to know Flanigans. We split the chicken wings, which being chicken wing freaks, we thought they were ok. Crispy and and big, it just needed a little more spicy wing sauce. To add the blue cheese dressing, I thought it was odd that it was $0.50 more! I ended up getting a veggie plate while my friend got the burger. The vodka martinis were the special that night, so we were feeling fine when we left. Totally a chain, pretty average menu selection. But the food that we did get was good, the service was great, and the drinks were mighty strong. Overall, not a bad choice for late night dining.

This place is great if your looking for a generic good time with nothing major to remember. The ribs and chicken wings are fantastic but the atmosphere is just a little to bland for my taste. They have a great happy hour that starts after nine which is unbeatable. All in all its a good "go-to" spot when I'm felling indecisive

If you want to have a relaxing no frills place to go this is it. I enjoy all their salads and the ribs are famous. I really enjoy it because the servers are real people that make you feel welcome. The happy Hours are unbelievable. Plus Surfside is never crowded so you don't have to wait for a table, a bar stool sometimes. After 9PM is great. Kick Back and enjoy a cold one with friends, by yourself or with that someone special. Then take a walk on the Beach.

The food is pretty good (mmmmm...ribs), but the happy hours are the best in town. At 50% off you can by the bar a round of shots for less than $60. They also serve food til 12:00 or later.

This is by far my favorite Flanigan's location. I love how they bring the outdoors in when they open the huge bay doors. A nice refresh from the sometimes stale AC air. The large tropical fish tanks are also a nice touch. The food is about as good as any another location which is always tasty. The service has also always been great as well. I live about half an hour away from this location and there are at least two other closer locations but I always make the trip to this one when dining in. Worth checking out.

Pitchers. All I want to remember are the pitchers. They had some food too, and even pool tables if you get bored, but the pitchers were where the party was. Located across the street from the resort I stayed at on a business trip to Miami Beach, Flanigan's was the only chill bar that was easy to get to/from without taking a cab. The people weren't too stuck up, either, considering where this place is located.

Good filling food. Always an odd assortment of people at the bar. Wings and Ribs here are wonderful.

As other people here have said, there are two other Flanigan's locations closer to my house, but I drive to this one mainly for their great selection of beers on tap!! Late night dining here is absolutely the best! They have one of the BEST philly cheesesteaks I have EVER had, I highly recommend it! And don't bother with ketchup for the fries dip them in the bbq sauce! I promise you won't regret it...the service is awesome, and their deals can't be beat. Every night after ten with every pitcher of beer you get an order of wings! And all single drinks are 1/2 off! Where else can you get that? I love this place!
