I come through Starke every once in a while and was craving guacamole this time so I found Laredo on this site. It will now be a destination and well worth the drive from Jacksonville. Great food and service with both the guacamole and the steak/chicken quesadillas being top notch.

Friendly, fast and pretty good. Salsa was very tasty. Entrees are standard fare- good but not exceptional.

Yeah, you know, it's good. I enjoy the look of the restaurant and the people working there - nothing but niceness. Food is Mexican/Tex-Mex (can always tell by the way a chile relleno is prepped). I come from the land of Mexican eateries on every other corner, so guess I'm just used to them. Figure, for me, it's too much melted cheese, and thin enchiladas when stuffed with meat. Don't let 3 stars fool you, b/c I'm definitely coming back.

Fast, very friendly service! Awesome food all around. If we lived closer, we'd be back! Hot sauce could be hotter.

What a nice surprise! From the time I was greeted until the time I had a margarita in hand amounted to mere minutes. They really are on the ball here. Friendly, efficient and helpful. Beware, the margaritas come in three sizes. I was tempted to take a large one since I had been driving all day and was just beat. But, on the advice of the waitress, I took a medium (she showed me the size of a large one with her hands....huge). Besides being a nice healthy size, it was also good! The enchilada assortment was also good (four for about 9 bucks). They were tasty and of a nice size! The only possible down side of my whole experience was the salsa served gratis with chips. The salsa tasted store bought. But, for a good meal with great service, this is well worth it!

Hard to find great authentic Mexican food in whitey American small towns like Sparke. Will certainly come back when we're back in this side of town. Our waiter was so friendly, left a great impression because he seemed very enthusiastic and genuine.

Nothing special. The "Big Chalupa" was not big at all. The tacos seem to be store-bought hard shells with pretty standard toppings. Food was delivered luke-warm. Chip and salsa refills, which are free everywhere else, cost $2.00. Not worth stopping here - keep driving.

Food is excellent -- service friendly. This Isn't a chain, it appears to be a family run enterprise. The menu is extensive. We ordered the enchilada platter and chicken fajitas. Both were very good. The restaurant sits in an older section of Starke. I gave It 4 stars instead of 5 because of location.

Pretty bad. Friendly prompt service but low quality food for the price. The poblano in corn batter was especially bland and pedestrian. The margaritas taste like a bad mix. Just drive to Gainesville or Jacksonville and eat there.

What is there to say? Prompt service, good prices, good food, and cheap beer make for a great dining experience. Probably one of the best restaurants in the Starke area.

Honestly, I would say that this is the best place to eat in Starke, FL. I know that is not saying much, but you get a lot of food here for the money. We came in at lunch and ordered several different lunch specials. They came out fast, service was good and they tasted great. I would recommend the fajitas. They were literally piled so high my co-worker could not finish them. A meal, drink and tip for under $11...You can't beat that!

Came here with 3 other people. Everyone enjoyed what they had. Very tasty tacos, burritos, fajitas, and guacamole. When I pass through this town again I will stop here.

This is THE gem of Mexican restaurants in North Florida. I am not eating at any other mexican restaurant. Laredo's is the best mexican I have had to the exclusion of the one I ate at in Juarez. I LOVE tamales and I was in heaven here. The tamales here taste like the came out of your abuela's kitchen! :-)

Excellent! In the middle of Florida is a great Mexican restaurant! Had the fajita combo with steak, chicken, and shrimp. They give you 4 tortillas so you don't have to wait while they bring two more. The wife had chili rellenio (sp?) which was also great. Real Mexicans, real Mexican food.

Any Mexican restaurant that provokes a man on a grad-student budget to drive an hour and a half round-trip to eat there *on more than one occasion* deserves five stars. The food never disappoints: the "big and spicy burrito," the guac (oh, the guac), the chorizo -- all favorites. The service is quick, courteous, and accurate. Can't ask for anything else.

My friends and I eat hear on a regular basis. At least once a week we travel to Starke from Hawthorne just so we can visit Laredo's. The food is a combination of traditional Mexican cuisine and TexMex. I can personally account for the menu items that I order on a regular basis which include burritos (grilled, supreme, and regular), the chimichanga, tacos, enchilada's, and chalupas. These are only a few of the menu items available and everything that I've had has been excellent every time that I've ordered it. My fiance loves the chicken quesedillas and their margaritas are awesome. They even have three different margarita types, the regular, the Texas (which has more alcohol in it), and a very large one that is two or three times larger than the regular glass. We always get the Texas and we're never disappointed. They also have a full bar and a few select beers. The prices are very good, you can get a large plate of food for $8 or less. They always bring out chips and salsa on the house after you're seated and they're great as well. The service is excellent and depending on the size of your party, your food comes out very quickly after you've ordered. We've actually developed a rapport with several of the waiters because we go so often. As far as the atmosphere goes, it has a very authentic feel to it, the owners and staff have a cultural connection to the food and the interior has the look and feel of an authentic Mexican restaurant. It does get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, the parking lot isn't very large. It's a decent size, but it can fill up fast. There is also parking across from the parking lot in the grass beside the road . We've parked there before when the lot was full, it's not a problem. If you like Mexican food and you have the chance to visit this fine establishment, I would highly recommend it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
