Every time I am in Mt. Dora I make the drive over to Gi Gi's. The reason...the best traditional pizza on the East Coast. Don't bother with toppings. Keep the subs on the menu. Order yourself a plain cheese pizza and you will drift off toward gastronomic delirium. The crust is outstanding, the sauce and cheese in perfect proportion, the pie should have an Opus number and symphonic designation.

Really, really good food and super-nice folks. Quaint little restaurant where everyone seems to know everyone but all feel welcome. Calzone and stromboli are epic. Great pizza too. Garlic knots are a food group!

This place is amazing. My wife suggest that we have dinner here and we have driven past it hundreds of times with out paying any attention to Gigi's. We pulled the trigger tonight and it was perfect. The garlic knots were fresh and hot. Dinner was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Our server Brenda was the best! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and so lovely. We will be back soon.

I live in Sorrento and the food is real good. The owner came straight from Italy although his cooks did not, they do a good job at how he likes it done. But I must say although its close to home for us, the waitress is super slow, chatty, unprofessional and loud. She will practically set on your lap if you have a party and take your order. Then she walks around with your order and talks and you wait and although she checks on you and laughs about it-the food is still not out. So yes-good food. No-service is not good.

My family and I have been eating at GiGi's for a while now, like a couple of years. On the whole it's alright for neighborhood "Italian", alright, NOT great, not even very good. I ordered a large Deluxe pizza tonight and specifically asked that the crust be completely done and NOT chewy. What do you think I got? Correct. Semi-raw, chewy, very white (not toasty brown) crust. I'll concede some points due to the fact that it was Saturday night and they may have been pushed for time but that is still no excuse. Tony's pizza, not far away, and actually closer to my home NEVER serves a "raw" pizza crust but I like to spread the business around and GiGi's is kind of out-of-the-way so I try to do business with them now and then. But I won't continue to buy sub-par product with my first quality money. Send someone from your quality team to Papa Joe's Pizza in Lake Mary and order any pizza you wish and when it comes pay close attention to what it is, THATS a top quality pizza. GiGi's please pay closer attention to what is being served in your dinning room or going out the door as take out.

Wow, never disappointed when I come to Gi Gi's Italian Restaurant. This place is the real deal - awesome food, great service, friendly staff, you go home feeling stuffed and happy. Can't believe food like this exists in such a small town like Sorrento! Worth a drive out here if you're looking for good, authentic Italian food. Love them!

The food is very good but the service? Well I have come here several times always been served by the same very friendly and nice yet forgetful super slow waitress. Not to sound like I'm being mean I'll give an example: 3 of us at table. My wife orders a salad as appetizer and I order the mozzarella sticks. Her salad came out first but she was never provided utensils. it would have been impractical / messy to attempt to eat it with her hands so I kept trying to get the waitresses attention, To no avail. She then reappeared with my appetizer and our dinners simultaneously. Choices were refuse appetizer in favor of entree or have entree become cold as it sits there til appetizer is consumed. Then we were hoping for refills on our drinks and another 30 min later after requesting them they appear. And finally when we ask for the check add on another 30 min to that! Food is GREAT but this service are all I have gotten on 3 separate visits! Sadly it's the one thing keeping me and my wife from going there more often!

Leaves a lot to be desired. It's okay if you've never had good italian or don't know how to cook. Most of the stuff tastes like its poured straight from a can.

Several family members have been eating here and I recently had an opportunity to visit with a rather large group (12) ... ... since it's a small, family style room it makes it tough to accomodate a pack this large but, with our late in the day arrival, they were able to squeeze us in. Even as late as we were they still had a pretty good crowd and now I know why.... portions would make Paul Bunyon shy away! Their large calzone is enough for three people and their combo plates will easily fill two. Salads were pretty nondescript but tasty and everything else has a very "homemade" feel. Food came out piping hot and everyone had their entree within a minute of each other down the length of the table. Service was top notch even though there was only one waitress who, despite the crowd, had a most pleasant attitude which enhanced our experience. Yes, it's a bit off the beaten track but it's worth the drive for the price, quality and atmosphere.

The Greek salad and the meatball sub I had was the best ever. Excellent presentation and nice temperature from the over and fresh. The staff is wonderful... fun place to visit. You are made to feel like family.

Awesome Italian food! Best garlic knots I've ever had and very inexpensive. I wish it wasn't so far out of my way, but maybe for my waistline its better that way.

Stopped in for pizza two times. First time pizza was cold. Second time the forgot a topping. Another time ordered chicken Marsala to go, dismal presentation. Taste was a 2. Place is odd when you walk in by way of setup. Great location off 46 so it is a shame.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
