Stopped by the Seminole location last night it was my first visit. I asked the server "do you make the food here or is it frozen" She told me everything was fresh. Had a great meal. It's refreshing to find a mom and pop business that makes good food at reasonable prices right close to home. I'm always happy to support our local businesses and our local community.

I've wanted to try Trips Dinner in St.Pete but I ended up at the Seminole location which I believe is fairly new. For starters we had the cheese fries and fried green tomatoes. The fries where cooked just right and we're good, you can't really mess up cheese fries. The fried green tomatoes were ok, the flavor of the coating was good, the sauce was tasty but the tomatoes were hard and not very flavorful . For our main course we ordered a Ruben, Turkey sandwich and the pancake as big as hubcap. First of all , sides are really important to me. They can make or break a dish. I decided on the potato salad since it was homemade and it was really good. The potatoes were cooked just right, there was creaminess and a nice hint of dill. On to the Turkey sandwich, good amount of turkey piled on ciabatta topped with smoked Gouda and a yummy basil mayo. Great sandwich. The pancake looked good but definitely not the size of a hubcap, just the size of a plate. Service was very good, our server was friendly , good at keeping up with refills, checking in with us. Overall everything was good and I have not complaints and next time I will defineltly try the dessert. On our way to pay the bill you pass the desserts and they looked soooo good.

Well, Hurricane Trip gets downgraded. I've been back twice since my initial stellar review and neither time has it met that standard. While I reprised my Mr Crabs Omlette this time, and once again it was very good, the thick cut style bacon is simply wretched. Way too greasy the first time, way too burnt the second time, awful taste both times. The service is very good here and I hope they make it (I think they will). The turkey sausage I had to replace the thick cut bacon was pretty good, although greasy. The fruit cup would benefit from a mix other than 90% honeydew melon. I'm pulling for you, Trip's. I hope you get it together. I will be back to try it again, but I was disappointed the last two times because I know you can be better than average.

We love Trip's because it's within walking distance of our place, so we can pop in on a weekend morning for a quick breakfast. I've never had bad food here. They have an extensive cheese selection for their omelettes, which is important for me. And their bacon! Oh my goodness, their bacon is delicious. Hubcakes, or pancakes the size of a hubcap, are also a good order. You can get them topped with various fruits, or stuffed with chocolate chips. The only downside here is the service. It's usually just so-so. Usually every time we go, no matter what server we have, they end up forgetting something from our order. It's incredibly affordable, though, and leaves you just the right amount of full.

We finally made it to the second location of Trip's and our experience was just as good as our numerous visits over the years to the original Trip's. I am happy to say that the food we ordered tasted just like it does at the 9th St location. The restaurant was frankly empty when we visited. It was a weekday and early in the morning, so maybe that is why. It is a shame because this location is actually must larger than the original. There are more nooks and crannies for privacy here. It is a very comfortable space. We ordered a variety of items that included an omelet, a large "hubcap" pancake, bacon, eggs and white cheese grits. Everything was incredible as always! The pancake and the bacon were my favorite. The pancake was nice and crispy around the edges, but thick and chewy on the inside. It was perfect. I am not sure what kind of bacon that Trip's uses, but it is WAY better than the bacon at home or at most restaurants. Trip's white cheese grits are always very tasty and a must if you haven't tried them yet. We were very happy with the new Seminole Trip's and we will be returning.

Vacationing in St. Pete. Looking for an....IHOP of all places, we decided to stop and try Trip's Diner. Can I say we made a great choice! Delicious, hot, and fresh. We'll be back tomorrow....

Ate here tonight! I ordered the hub cap pancakes with cheese grits. The food arrived within 10 minutes of me getting here. That probably has more to do with the time I stopped in than anything though. Anyway the pancakes were light and fluffy, and tasted great. I also ordered some blueberries to go on them in addition to the regular syrup. Will definitely be stopping in again!

I hesitate to use the words "best ever" in reviews, but Trip's II delivers. It is as good or better than the original location. Top quality ingredients, cooked perfectly with small, memorable unique flairs (without leaping off the edge of reason into hipster hades). Pretty much the perfect breakfast spot...I'm not even going to point out highlights, it's all perfection. If there was a religion built around a Diner-based Deity, this place would be the messiah. The thick cut bacon would be the sacrament, I suppose. Or the home-made biscuits. Where's the sixth star option?

What got us here??? The parking lot was incredibly packed for such an odd location on a Wednesday night. So that got our attention. So that night we said yea... it's comfort food time. Walking in I felt like the restaurant isn't quite "finished" (the bar area looked bare) but we were greeted right the way and there was no table for us at all at the time so we sat at the booth. Seemed to me that they did a renovation at this place and they did a pretty good job. Very clean place from my observation. Then, our fabulous waitress came. Nicole is soft spoken, we asked her what is really good here.. then she replied... "Just let me tell you, everything is homemade here" - she seems very sure of their selections :) She pointed out what her and her husband have had. She is super thorough when she takes order... there's no confusion. She is so sweet, genuine, and very polite. *I have to mention her because she really is an awesome waitress* Then our food came. We ordered: Dinner size salad (small plate) - nice and fresh A bowl of french onion soup - great!! A cup of chili - delicious!!! (small) Spaghetti meatballs + garlic bread - pretty good, need more cheese! hamburger with crumbled blue cheese + fries - fresh patty, cooked to perfection. The food overall is seasoned well, not too salty and do not need any salt. All in all... we will definitely come back.

Great food! Our server Nicole suggested club sandwich and we loved it! She was very attentive and personable! Make sure you ask for her, when you go there! We will be back!

This place can do no wrong; EVERYTHING is amazing & service is always outstanding. While we've only had a few breakfast items (omelets, French toast, etc)-it's all good. The main stars in my opinion are the sandwiches-BST (the best!!), Cuban, Ruben, ham & swiss are all wonderful. Meatloaf and fried chicken platter are great too. Only suggestion is, if you get fries, order them w/o salt, tastes sooo much better. Enjoy!!

The Best Diner. We are so lucky in Seminole. Very Clean. Home cooking! Always fresh. Excellent well trained wait staff. It's a regular stop for me. I have tried so many things on the menu. Eggs Benedict, Chicken Melt, Pulled Pork, Mac n Cheese to die for. Once you go to Trip's Diner it is hard to stay away.

From the service to the food....if I had 4 thumbs they would all be up! Portions are large, prices are very reasonable, and all of the staff encountered were friendly and super efficient!

Wow! Really impressed with this place! The restaurant isn't very large, but we had no problem getting a table on a weekday. They have a large menu with something for everyone. You can get breakfast all day, which I always appreciate. Our server told us everything is homemade which after eating it, I believe her! I got the country fried steak because, let's face it, I'm a fat kid at heart. It was probably the best comfort food meal I've had in a long time. The steak was delicious, with the perfect breading to meat mix. The mashed potatoes were very much homemade and delicious. I also got a piece of cornbread and pasta salad with my meal. The cornbread was sweet and delicious. The pasta salad was different, but really good! Orzo, feta, raisins... Not your typical pasta salad, but I really enjoyed it! My wife and I were out the door for $25 with tip. It was worth every penny! I can't wait to come back for breakfast!

We've been here several times and Trip's never disappoints. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is always prepared fresh and delivered promptly by friendly staff. Great for families and easy on the wallet. Their portions will fill you up and you will definitely leave with a smile!

One of the best places I've ate at in a long time. The service there is great. The prices are extremely reasonable. Just an over all awesome place. Will be continue going there over and over.

I lived in jersey for 4 years and this place definitely reminds me of diners up north. Clean place and good service. Our table devoured the cheese fries and seriously considered ordering another plate of them. I had the BST and it really hit the spot. I only wish the bread was a little more toasted/crisp.

Ate here tonight. The food was good and service was good. It did not take long to get food. Waitress was very friendly.

3pm on a Wednesday. I was able to order breakfast in the middle of the day and my husband was able to order dinner in the middle of the day. I had eggs over easy, cheese grits, Applewood smoked bacon and English muffin. He had blackened grouper with mango chutney, collard greens and fresh coleslaw. Oh, the Texas toast that came with his dinner? I ate that. Everything was perfectly cooked. Obviously, they have their formula down pat. Usually with a place like this one or the other will be bad, either breakfast or dinner. They can't do both at a high-level. But Trip's did. And I love all of the old St. Petersburg and beach area vintage postcards and Florida souvenirs framed on the wall and sealed into the tabletops.

Wanted to like this place but just couldn't. Three of us went for breakfast last week as we wanted to try Trips. Let me tell you, it was a Trip alright! My eggs Benedict was ok, nothing special, my friends grits were lumpy and tasteless and my other friend had an omelet and was violently ill that afternoon. Trips was the only place she had eaten that day so couldn't have been from anything else. The food was also luke warm just like our server. Cant even remember her name, that's how blah she was. We are all hospitality people and will not be going back nor recommending this place to anyone.

OMG! Heaven has arrived in Seminole in the form of Trip's Diner. Supporting local and small has never tasted this good. Please do yourself a favor and get your Sunday breakfast on at this new location. Cheese grits creamiest you will ever experience in your life! Pancakes were killer. Service is top-notch. It's like they actually care about everyone who walks through the door. Awesome down-home diner! Welcome to Seminole, Trip's... Please stay forever.

Awesome place!!! Definitely recommend it for any occasion. Went for lunch, cheesesteak was On Point, friend had the turkey sandwich, also on point! Even down to the tomato basil vinaigrette I had with my side salad - delicious! Food came out fast and correct. Cute, mellow atmosphere with fun decor and tons of smiling faces. Alex was our server - also Awesome! Overall 5 stars.

My husband and I live here in seminole and have been to Trips at least 5 different times since they opened sometime last year. Every breakfast Has been wonderful. I always go for the white cheese grits, my husband the larger breakfasts and we almost always split a hubcap. You won't be disappointed...we've recommended the diner to many of our neighbors and nearby friends and they've always had similar experiences. We hope the diner stays around for a very long time. Seminole is lucky to have such a little gem!

We have been to Trip's several times now and love it, especially for breakfast. The service is great and the thick sliced bacon, omelettes, cheese grits and hub cap pancakes are all the best! Dinner is good too. Good old fashioned cooking! We are regulars now.

My mother, who is 82 years old, had been here several times and raved about the food that in her words was "delicious." We finally all went together and she is right. We got the fried green tomatoes. That has never been a favorite of mine, but they had a GREAT light breading on it that sold me. I ordered the Smoke burger. It was a very good sandwich. My only complaint, if it can be called that, was that the burger was so juicy it had to be finished off using a fork because it got messy. It was a really big burger too. The prices aren't terrible. Not dollar menu pricing, but who wants that? Everyone on the staff was very attentive and always smiling. I am sure I will be back again and again.

We were drawn in by the full parking lot... Don't be fooled... Not good. Grouper was very undercooked, salad and fruit were not fresh and the staff was very rushed. Kid's cheeseburger was ok. Would not recommend this place and not planning on coming back.

Finally! A real Northeast style diner in Florida! Have been there twice since it recently opened and have not been disappointed either time. Breakfast: the cheese grits are FANTASTIC. Lunch: I had the BST, bacon , spinach and fried green tomatoes on sourdough bread. Very good. Wait staff is a little disorganized but friendly. A definite "go to" for reasonably priced food.

I wanted to like Trip's Diner, I really did. Unfortunately, it just wasn't very good, at least not based on my first visit. Will I go back? Not too sure. If I do, it won't be anytime soon. I decided to give it a try based on the pictures from the website. It showed a cool 50s styled counter top with stools and that's what convinced me to give it a whirl. Before being a diner, the location was a Thai/Sushi place. It's gone through a lot of renovation to be what it is today and they did a good job. The booths are classic black diner styled with red piping. Based on decor alone, this place could've won me over. There are various photos/drawings/paintings of St. Pete on the walls which is a nice touch. The food was ok. They have what they call Hubcakes, which are "pancakes the size of a hubcap". They are big and it wasn't too bad. The mistake I made was asking for strawberries as a topping. There's a choice between strawberry or blueberry. I thought I'd be getting fresh strawberries. Instead, it was compote, and there was a gallon of it. It ruined what was otherwise a good hotcake. I also got a side of homefries. The few larger pieces weren't bad but my plate seemed to be made up of mostly scraps from the bottom of a pan. I got a sweet tea and it must've just been brewed because it was still warm and it was barely sweet. I actually had to add sugar. Maybe that'd be a bonus for some people. Compounded with the not-so-great homefries and compote lathered pancake, stirring sugar into "sweet tea" just seemed like a hassle by that point. It also seemed a little too expensive for what it was. The biggest issue I had was the way the place smelled. They must've mopped with dirty water or one of the toilets was out of commission 'cause there was a lingering stench of sewage around the register. It was also really hot in there. Coming in from 80 degree weather outside, it would've been nice to been in a cooler environment. On a positive note, all the staff were well trained and very nice. It's nice to see a family business open up rather than some chain and I hope if and when I go back, my next visit will be better.

They seem to have caught some of the bugs in their system or updated staff for both but either way food was extremely fast and very good today and no hiccups. So updated review and will be back more often.

Have been there twice for breakfast and it's the best in the area. Excellent eggs, corned beef hash and turkey sausage. Coffee is good and the wait staff very prompt and friendly. Will be going every weekend.

Seated quickly and Nicole was a great. Service was wonderful. I had the Triple Decker Club on sourdough. Wife had the BST bacon spinach and fried green tomatoes on sourdough. The menu is extensive and I am sure we will be back to try a more.

I've been to this restaurant twice so far and both meals were great. I first went for dinner and ordered a cup of French onion soup and a blue burger. The consumè had a great flavor with the customary crouton and cheese melted on top. I ordered the burger medium and it was cooked perfect. The burger also had sauteed onions and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good but the onions were too large. I returned for breakfast and ordered a pancake the size of a platter and some of the thickest bacon I've ever had. The pancake had a nice crisp edge, which I love. The bacon was awesome. I also tried some grits but these were lumpy. The best part of the meals wad the staff. Very friendly and the made sure I had everything I needed.

Great food and service. Very clean! The menu has lots of variety and the proces are reasonable. Country fried steak-delicious!! Children's pasta bowl -a big hit. Pasta with shrimp and chicken (special order) was no problem and was eaten in its entirety! We were all so full we did not get dessert, but the pies and cakes looked yummy! There is a nice counter with two tvs for single diners. I will definitely be returning!

Been here twice recently. Both times around breakfast/brunch time. Ordered the egg platter most recently. Very good and cooked exactly like I ordered it. Parking is a little limited so if you are going with friends or family, I suggest you car pool.
