Have been putting of this review for a while now because I don't want favorite place to get too crowded.... Anyways, Jimmy is the coolest chef there is and his place is the best. That's really all there is to say.

Since moving to St Pete over a year ago, we've tried roughly six 'highly recommended' sushi spots and Jimmy's is one of them. That said, the search goes on for something exceptional. Of the six we've tried here, Jimmy's ranks first or second - in St Pete. The sushi was good, with special kudos on the giant Jimmy roll, and the alligator roll was also very good. Both were standouts above selections we've had at most other sushi restaurants in St Pete. The roll we didn't like was the conch roll, which was salty and was filled with more of a conch paste it seemed. I rank Jimmy's slightly above the rest here due to the creativity of the menu, reasonable prices, and generous portions. The restaurant ambiance is fine, but mostly exactly what you would expect, a long and only modestly inviting sushi bar and a bunch of tables with your usual collection of Asian inspired knicknacks and of course the obligatory aquarium. Why have no sushi restaurants here realized that people like ambiance, even at a sushi joint? So I don't want to sound too down on Jimmy's. We had a good meal related to the competition in the area. It's good for St Pete, and acceptable otherwise. Considering price, it may be the best in the area.

I am here with my wife and it is out first time here. Man this place is awesome. We started looking at our menus and Jimmy told us don't worry about it I'll make you something good. So we had the spicy tuna and volcano and it was amazing. Then Jimmy gave us another entree and sake as compliments on the house! This guy knows what he is doing and we will definitely be back!

Missed having you here, welcome back from all of us! Jumbo Jimmy and the Volcano roll are on our menu for this evening!

I've been passing this place for years and never tried it. Last night after I realized Osaka was temporarily closed and couldn't find any decent beachside sushi places, I ventured here. I'm glad I did. There's a little community here that I plan on infiltrating. Customer after customer came in and said hi to Jimmy or said "bye Jimmy" on the way out. He acknowledged everyone of them nicely. The rest of the staff was nice as well. I sampled a volcano roll, a spider roll, and a gator roll. I love them all equally. We couldn't finish them, but they were pretty spectacular. All that goodness on top of the volcano roll was to die for. I'll definitely be back, but not for their wine selection. That part was not tasty.

Went for dinner with my wife tonight and it was just okay. We have been to Jimmy's numerous times and generally really like the place. We had fried gyoza, seafood salad and 4 rolls. It was good but seemed to have been thrown together. I am sure we will go again. Maybe Wednesdays are just not a good night.

DRIPPY AND SEXY SUSHI--REALLY These are the Rolls that make good photos--not necessarily the best for 'Sushi purists' though (which I prefer) because of many additions of various sauces they almost cover the original flavors of the Fish. The Triple Threat literally turned heads at its approach--a mountain of crunchy Scallions and Roe over plated Tuna. (Too much saucy approach). Bahama Mama with its spicy Conch, Salmon, Roe and lines of Hot Mayo (Very drippy and still too much saucy approach). The Baked Mussels also fell into this trap. Hot Atlantic Wasabi Roll--great Wasabi notes however the Green Roe provided too much of a sandy, crispy texture better served by Tempura flakes. THE BUSY DANCE Expect a packed house on weekend evenings (yet no waits) with staff running all over the place. Yet all employees manage to show grins. Jimmy's is located in an unusual area (quiet for restaurants) and parking can be competitive. I got the impression a quarter of the diners are curious visitors not familiar with Sushi-- perhaps I'm just stereotyping based on the location and all the southern accents questioning all items during my night.

Date Night For Sure!!! You'll regret passing up this Terrific restaurant; you must stop & try it. Best Sushi I've had from Miami to Colorado to Connecticut and areas in between. Impressed with the quality, size and freshness. Great Value, and in a world where restaurants are going downhill and patrons are no longer getting what they paid (at least I feel that way and prefer to make food at home because my wife and I DO IT BETTER), Jimmy's will leave you feeling full, impressed and wanting to visit again. ***it's not for the frugal person but neither is great quality Sushi; again, to reiterate, Jimmy's is a GREAT Value. Roll on and if you are game, try "The Big Jimmy." Can't wait to visit Jimmy's again and then hit up Rita's (adjacent to Seminole High School) for dessert. Try the Gelati, custard will be at the bottom and the top. Thanks to my Twin brother and awesome wife for introducing me and my family to Jimmy's Kids and adults enjoy! Later and 5 min away travel Southwest from Rita's to the beautiful Redington beaches to watch a sunset. Drive 8 min south of the beach and swing into Redington Long Pier (pay a couple $) and go for a walk on the pier and talk with the fisherman and women. Keep traveling south a night at the historic Don Cesar (historic pink building seen in numerous movies).

My wife and are down from Brooklyn for the week and we just had a late dinner at Jimmy's Sushi Bar. It's a bright and friendly establishment with attentive staff, local clientele and excellent sushi. I noticed more than one patron say goodbye to Jimmy as they left, while he was cleaning up before closing time. We did too. As we were leaving the parking lot, Jimmy ran in front of our car, arms wide! He was holding a cell phone and knelt down to present to us in a fun loving and joyful way. He must have thought that we left it behind. It wasn't our phone but the gesture was wonderful and a step above the type of service we're used to up North. I don't typically write reviews but have to applaud and praise the staff, chefs and owner of Jimmy's Sushi Bar.

This place is awesome! I never would have stopped by had I not found all the great reviews on here; it looks like a total hole in the wall from the outside, but once you walk through the doors you're transported to a sushi paradise! First off, the sushi was DELICIOUS. The owner, Jimmy, whipped something up for me based off of my favorite foods, and then he did the same for my husband. We were both super impressed. We've since gotten takeout from there several times and it was also great, although not as good as when eating in (obviously). The owner is so cool, he makes you feel so welcome, and really takes time to get to know his customers, and their likes. You can tell it's a great place, because it was full of repeat customers saying hi to Jimmy, and him greeting them by name, etc. He also had the waitress bring us a bottle of sake on the house, and when it was too strong for me, he had her bring me a second bottle, also on the house, it was sweet! It was really cool to find actually, I'm so happy we tried it, and we have already gone back several times, more to come, for sure! One thing is that their hours say they're open for lunch, but sometimes they randomly close at lunch with no warning, so call ahead to make sure they're really going to be there that day!

First time here last week and this place is the best within the Seminole/nearby beach area. There was a wide variety and the prices were great. The restaurant has a locals feel to it and was very busy for an early weeknight. We think we've found out new go to Sushi place. Service was fantastic and fast!

  • Meghan S.

Wow did I love this place. The sushi was amazing, so many choices. My husband and I eat more cooked stuff than raw, and usually have to hunt for multiple rolls we find interesting. Not here! So much to choose from, we have to go back so we can try more!

  • Roseann M.

Have gone there several times and it's good as long as you don't question what you get. Couple weeks ago we went and got a great real blue crab roll. And ignored the cold egg rolls that they didn't want to remake but reluctantly did. Tonight We just went and tried to get the same blue crab roll and it was totally different. Manager was rude about it; even suggested we had gotten the roll at another sushi restaurant and we were confused but jimmys WAS the only place we go to for sushi. Such bad customer service we won't go back!

Okay so just last week I said I found my favorite sushi elsewhere but then I came here again and changed my tune. My lord this place is incredible, I want to give it 1600 stars. This was my 2nd time here and I think I plan on coming here every week forever and ever. We sat at the bar and glanced at a menu for all of a second before Jimmy asked us what we liked and started sending stuff out. I LOVE not making decisions and leaving it up to the chef. Will forever sit at the bar and not order for myself. He started with some incredible tuna dish. It was HUGE and had some crunchy veggie type things and a delicious sauce something with crunchies and what not. Usually I can describe things better but I don't know the name and I didn't ask questions, I just devoured this dish and smiled the whole time. Next we had a spicy scallop roll. Didn't think anything could top the first dish but I guess the hits just kept coming. I love sauce and condiments and I like a lot going on in my sushi dishes. It was a plethora of goodness and deliciousness in every bite. We were kind of full by the 2nd dish because they were so plentiful and scrum, but he asked if we wanted more, and it's not typical for me to say no to more. He asked what else we liked and we said eel, cream cheese, avocado, tempura, etc. Pretty sure what we got had all of this. There was tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, and eel, and SAUCE. Did I mention I love sauce? I am also a huge fan of cream cheese in my rolls. He ended by sending us out complimentary sake, not a huge sake fan but again, not one to usually say no. Overall, I was obsessed with every bite, Jimmy is phenomenal, great place with great music playing too. The first time I came Pink Floyd's The Wall was playing and this past time I believe Tom Petty was on. I can get down with good tunes while stuffing my face with excellent food. Please go here now.

This place is amazing! They have gluten free soy sauce for my wife and the food was amazing. I had the 20 piece sashimi, and my wife had the lady in red roll with the spicy yellow tail roll. We shared the triple threat as an appetizer. All of it was great!

Let's start with how we were greeted by Jimmy as we walked in! In brief, best sushi I've had in Tampa/St Pete in past two years. Freshest fish in the area. Tuna is a amazing, especially the sashimi platter. Great selection of rolls (not too many with cream cheese, which is a huge bonus). As a California native, this is the closest to California sushi that I've found in Florida and will be my new staple.

In my last review from 2013, I mentioned excessive blue lighting inside... I am pleased to say that Jimmy has toned down the lighting and has beautiful aquariums in the restaurant. This really is the absolute best Sushi in the area and Jimmy is a wonderful, friendly guy who will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great experience. You must try the Triple Threat. As great as everything is -- this is the best thing on the entire menu in our opinion. We really love Jimmy's and have been many, many times.

I think it's the best sushi I've ever had. Each roll was a masterpiece exploding with flavor. If you're unskilled with using chop sticks, get the volcano special. It will be good practice! Dees roll was my favorite. Gator and Hawaiian also very good!

In town on business and found this place via Yelp! The staff was very friendly and the sushi was fresh and very good! I had the Spicy Tuna Roll and a Red Dragon Roll. The Red Dragon has a hint on horseradish which I normally don't like, but this wasn't overdone. I will definitely come back next time I am in town!

This is without a doubt the best sushi in the Tampa Bay Area. The Mount Fuji roll is amazing. Very popular place because the food is so good. A must try for sushi lovers !!!

  • Tyla M.

The entree stuff here I'm not a big fan. Been here twice and first time I ordered Yosenabe.... the seafood in the bowl was plentiful, huge ass scallops... but it sure was not authentic. Then the second time I got the chicken katsudon which comes with eggs. It was alright, wayyy too much rice though. But I have to say, their hand rolls..... GET the hand rolls!!!!!!!!!! They are wonderful, fresh, and if you have a couple of those you'd be too full to eat anything else really. I've had spicy scallop and spicy tuna or conch I think. Both are memorable ;)

I've been going to Jimmy's since day one. He's catered several meals for my family and everyone I take there falls in love with his sushi. It's personally my favorite sushi in all of the Largo/Seminole Area. I highly recommend it to everyone. Even when my friends from out of town come down, they always want to go to Jimmy's cause they remember how good it is! The fish is always fresh, the flavor is perfect, he doesn't overdo the rolls. Plus he takes time to invest and get to know his customer basis. I highly recommend the Triple Threat, The Sawyer Roll, and The Sunny Mama!

Jimmys don't let looks deceive you. This place is a gem. We were seated quickly and within distance of the sushi bar so you can watch them create works of art. The menu is full of your traditional types of sushi and sashimi along with rolls that I've never heard of before. It takes a while to read through each one to find one that would satisfy for taste buds. I went with the Jumbo Jimmy and let me tell you but was jumbo. An entire meal in one roll. Inside there was eel, asparagus, avacado, cucumber, and cream cheese. On the outside there was fresh salmon, tuna, and roe with something called heavenly sauce. So delicious. I finished it. The wait staff were very attentive with different wait staff willing to help you at any time. I needed a refill on my drink and asking a random waitress for one was no problem at all she was happy to help. I like that. Rather than hear I'll tell your waitress. The only reason why I gave 4 stars was at the end paying our Bill took forever. I finally got up to find out where it went and come to find out. They double charged me with someone else's bill and could not figure out how to give me a credit on my card. Two managers later they still couldn't figure it out. Frustrating. Despite this. The food is outstanding and best of all fresh.

I had the cucumber rolls and I think the cucumber and seaweed was refreshing and the rice is the best rice I've tasted in years! We love it so much we gave It a five star rating. Best sushi in Pinellas County! I ordered the Bob roll because I saw some positive reviews on yelp about it so I just had to try it. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend getting it if you come. This was a great night out with great food and great company which is why I scored five stars for Jimmy's sushi bar!

Jimmy's Sushi Bar might very well be the best sushi in the entire Tampa/St. Petersburg area and that's no joke. Even crazier, my favorite thing on their menu isn't even sushi or an entree, it's an appetizer. The Triple Threat is seriously the most amazingly delicious lightly seared tuna with a special crunch spread and sauce on top. It doesn't even matter if you like tuna, you will love the taste of this dish. Jimmy is the man and he is very friendly to all customers, occasionally greeting repeat customers and talking to new ones. I would certainly recommend that you give this place a shot if you like sushi. Try the Kevin roll!

I have been here a couple times and I have never been disappointed. It looks like it is closed from outside but don't be afraid. They are open 7days. Their fish is fresh (no fishy smell) and they don't skimp on it! I love their scallop hand roll (raw). They put tempura crunch in it and the scallop is filled throughout the hand roll all the way to the bottom. Jumbo Jimmy roll is ridiculously big....well I should have know from the name. It is about double the size of regular rolls. Atlantic spicy salmon roll is very wasabi hot so be aware. I love wasabi tobiko and it definitely cleared my sinus and brought tears into my eyes lol The sushi chef and the servers are always nice and attentive. They have a very extensive sushi menu. They have an extended sushi menu on the side of the tables and also up on the wall, so please don't forget to check those out too!

One of the best sushi bars I've ever been in. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere here is pretty awesome. Everyone seems to know jimmy the head sushi chef. The food was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked rice and really Fred selection of fish. Each roll we got was incredibly. By far the best sushi I have ever eaten. Another awesome addition to the meal was it being 'pink Floyd Friday' meaning Pink Floyd was playing all night. Would highly recommend

My husband and I went to Jimmy's yesterday (Friday) for dinner after seeing high ratings on Yelp. However, unfortunately we were thoroughly disappointed. First, the appearance of the restaurant looks like it once had been a strip club with blacked out windows, neon signs and black lights. From inside, we were seated not in the main area but a separate wing... it just looked and felt like a cheap Chinese Take out place... The main area looked a little more festive. I wasn't too thrilled but I was willing to overlook the appearances. Second, their service was soooooo slow. It was just two of us and it took us more than an hour and a half to have our simple meal. It seemed like it might have been our waitress' first day at work or something. We couldn't get any refills on our drinks because the waitress was either not around or busy with other tables. Third, the food quality was questionable. I love sushi and have had quite a bit of sushi over the years so I think I can speak with certain confidence. The taste was ok nothing special. I didn't have any sashimi (luckily on an afterthought) so I couldn't exactly tell how fresh their sushi was at the time. I had Sherri rolls and salmon special rolls and my husband got California rolls. When we got home, both of our stomachs were upset. I have a pretty iron stomach so I was amazed that it managed to upset it. Plus my husband only got California rolls!!!! When we were done with our meal, I spotted a black insect crawling on a wall. All in all it was a pretty unpleasant experience for us and we will not be going back and will be checking out other sushi places.

Everything on menu I tried was authentic delicious and fresh I've been there several times with others so shared and sampled lots.service is fast friendly depending what day and time plus course ordered. I won't recommend anything in particular as tastes differ however anything ordered should be satisfying and prices are tempting enough. My judgment as a sushi freak jimmys is in top 5 throughout tampabay thus 5 stars

Jimmy is great, the sushi is great, and the aquariums are lovely. This place is no where near my house but I stop by any time I'm anywhere in the vicinity, and always pick up a massive takeout order when en route to the home of my second family in Seminole.

This place was amazing. Best sushi in Florida!! Sushimi was incredable. Roles were fantastic. Even the rolls i don't normally like were delicious. The jimmy role was HUGE and sooooo good. Ginger salad delicous. Gotar roll was yummy. They were awesome about making me my own roll witch was delicious.

There are so many reasons to love Jimmy's Sushi: the tasty sushi, the variety of sake, the nice owner, the hardworking servers, just to name a few. I have a friend who goes here at least once a week and I go a few times a month. The owner and sushi chef, Jimmy, is always so busy, but he never fails to take time out to come by every table to see how everyone's doing. I absolutely love the sushi here. My friends and I always order the Crab Boat, Bob Roll and Jumbo Jimmy (it is indeed jumbo!). Lately we've gotten into handrolls. My faves are Spicy Salmon and Special Scallop. We also like very much the variety of flavored sakes Jimmy's offers. We usually partake in a few bottles each visit. Also, Jimmy's Sushi is one of the few places that has Hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar). Yummmm. Jimmy's tends to be very crowded on Fri and Sat nights, so if you don't want to wait too long, go on a weekday. From what I've eaten here so far, everything is heavenly, so I have no doubt everything on the menu is too.

I've been going to Jimmy for more than 10 years for his AMAZINGLY sushi. We live in Denver now but it's always a special treat to come to see him and eat at Jimmy's Sushi Bar when we're in town. The fish is always fresh and better than any place around. They have a big party room you can use and plenty of variety in their dishes. If you dine with friends that don't like sushi, no problem they have a full menu also from the kitchen. They are kid friendly, have TVs, fish tanks and have free wifi.

Great reviews for a reason. Any specialty roll is gigantic. While would normally order two rolls per person, the rolls here will fill your belly after one.

Where did all these people come from? The PARKING LOT is a bit SMALL so I'm always surprised to find every table here filled. Plus this area doesn't look very restaurant-friendly which makes Jimmy's stand out more. The sushi is pretty tasty but this place caters stronger to those with AMERICAN SUSHI TASTES aka lots of extras and sauces and LESS EMPHASIS ON FISH. This ain't bad at all--I just prefer my salmon not drowning in spicy mayo but others will find that awesome. I'll admit I still enjoyed Jimmy's take on sushi. The TRIPLE THREAT IS FREAKIN' MASSIVE and a very cool combination of tuna along with crispy, crunchy bits. The SUSHI WAS MOSTLY OKAY--like I said lots of sauce and extras. Luckily there's always a LOTS OF SERVERS so there's never a wait and they're always prompt with everything. I like the cool, blue lights used in a lot of the decorating. It makes the place seem more like a chill bar.

Is tuna in the tekkamaki roll minced? It is at Jimmy's sushi. To their defense they claim that no one's ever complained but trust me when I say the texture when eating minced tuna roll is not appealing. For the most un-authentic Japanese cuisine, try Jimmy's sushi. Gross.

All I can say is wow!!! Wish we took pics of our amazing sushi rolls. We had the Bob and the Dee. Can't wait to go back for more. Top notch sushi, our new local favorite. Service was great and it's so clean. IT'S A MUST TRY!!!!

Food is awesome but service was lacking and made for an unpleasant experience. We had reservations and were seated immediately but they took forever to return to take our order, instead serving people that arrived after us their food before even taking our order. the waitress answers the phone while taking our order so we couldn't even give our full order. After letting them know how disappointed we were they brought the food out but too quickly. Couldn't finish one dish before the next arrived. It would have been ok if only they would have just said "we're sorry" but they didn't. Won't be returning or recommending this restaurant.

Jimmy is sushi chef and gregarious owner of Jimmy's Sushi Bar. We were new to the restaurant on a Sunday and, per out preference, sat at the sushi bar. Jimmy immediately welcomed us, asked if it was our first time, and proceeded to inform us that there was no need to look at the menu; just let him know what we wanted. My wife and I aren't sushi novices, but let's say we're likely not booking a flight to Japan to pay homage to Jiro. So, like most people would, we asked him what kind HE'D get. The end result left us flavor-struck. The triple tail in the Triple Threat was sesame encrusted sashimi grade slices of cool velvet. The conch-scallop-whitefish topping on the Special Volcano was so rich and delicate it could have been cubic coagulations of warm béchamel. We were happy in our post-coital state, bellies satisfied and eyelids loosened, that the next treat was one we simply submitted to. Jimmy made two Uni shooters and invited us to chew the quail egg and sea urchin concoction to mix better with the scallions, ponzu and Siracha. While shooting food that sloshes brings up competitive fantasies of superhumanly winning a Fear Factor food challenge for me, the actual experience and mouthfeel was unexpectedly, well, normal. Yes it was wetter than a normal bite of food, but it was not unlike filling your mouth with a ladle-full of cold, well made stew. Jimmy's isn't a place you go when you're staying at Mad Beach. It's the reason you book your vacations in this section of St. Pete, because the family knows at least one meal will be shared with your friend Jimmy and his fresh, masterfully crafted food.

This place is SSOOO hit or miss for us. We live close which is why we go. Sometimes its great and sometimes its just ok. But, the owner Jimmy is kick ass, which is why we continue to dine there. Its always busy so he must be doing something right. I would recommend at least trying it for yourself.

This is the best sushi place I have ever been to in my life. Hands down. Jimmy is always there and he and his staff are super friendly. You can really tell jimmy loves what he does and is passionate about making delicious sushi. Everyone should go here!

three times here and each time it has been a pleasure. When its not so busy expect Jimmy to come talk to you but the last time I went it was extremely busy and had to sit at the bar. Jimmy was relentless and focused on what he was making. The quality of the sushi did not suffer at all. Expect to spend $50-60 for two but at this quality its better than other more expensive places. No need to go to Soho Sushi or any other place in Tampa with this gem nearby.

This is a pretty good sushi restaurant, slightly above average. The service was pretty slow, it was our servers second night there, and I think she was still getting used to things. But, it took about 40 minutes from the time we walked in the door to get a drink on our table, and when we did get our drinks, our waters were forgotten. She was still very nice and friendly, which I think made up for the slow service. The rolls were good, however, the conch roll just tasted like a fish stick rolled in rice, we wouldn't recommend that. The veggie rolls were all wonderful, as was the salmon roll. However, they also did not have any real crab meat. It was all imitation crab.

Jimmy makes the best sushi in Pinellas County! 25 years ago I worked in an authentic Japanese restaurant and had my first taste of sushi. The chefs were brought in straight from Japan every 6 months. Jimmy's sushi has that same authentic taste. I found Jimmy about 8 years ago working at Sushi Fune in Bardmoor. I was thrilled when he opened his own restaurant in Seminole. He always stops by our table to say hello and ask how we are doing. I always order the Bob roll, the deluxe spicy tuna roll, and the gator roll. However, Jimmy will make you ANY kind of sushi you'd like. I personally enjoy Pink Floyd Friday's at Jimmy's!

We eat a lot of Sushi and this was not very good. Overpriced cheap sushi that took way too long to be made. The spicy tuna roll was very mushy and tasted bad. I will not go here again. I will stick with osaka's or saki's in Clearwater.

My wife and I started going here after our previous "favorite sushi" place temporarily closed to move locations.. This is by far our new favorite!! We are really glad we had to branch out and try something new. We have now been there 3 times and every time the service and food has been amazing! My favorite is the special volcano roll!! If your looking for a new place to try give Jimmys a shot!

Went to Jimmy's with my sister and ordered 3 rolls. Sushi was great then in the middle of us eating at the bar, my sister spots a cockroach coming out from under the microwave oven. The roach starts crawling on top of the counter and my sister got the waitress attention. The waitress then walked from behind to grab the roach with a napkin and missed it and the roach fell out the napkin and it almost fell inside my sisters purse!!! We never seen where the roach landed and it's still there! Then "jimmy" try's to save face and tells us this story on how the refrigerator repair man was just in there and he pulled out his tool and two roaches came out.... To make matters worse, we still had to pay for the entire meal even though we clearly stopped eating once the roach was spotted. Thanks jimmy for a wonderful first time experience. I'm hoping "roe" doesn't consist of extra ingredients from the clearly aggressive roach that may or may not have come home with us...

This is now our #1sushi restaurant! The Jumbo Jimmy roll is hard to eat it is so big and so delicious! Customer service was top notch! We sat at the sushi bar and made friends with our neighbors, who also say he is their favorite!

Best sushi on this side of town! We have never had a bad meal here. Try the Donna! They offer to go and have larger tables in the side room to accommodate a larger crowd.

Really impressed by this place. Have been to a couple of places in the St.Pete's area. I didn't particularly like any until now. Great quality and service - very clean. The fish is very fresh and the rice made well. The staff and chef were very friendly and made sure to say goodbye on the way out. Excellent value for money. I had no problem leaving a tip here, went back for lunch two days later. Overall great experience.

This place was a great find. The sushi was fantastic! You should definitely stop by if you love great sushi. I am really glad I found it when I was visiting town.

I have only been here twice but I am in love with Jimmy's Sushi! My favorite is the spicy tuna but I haven't tried anything that I haven't been amazed by. You can tell when you walk in that it is a great restaurant because it always seems busy and everyone greets Jimmy as a friend. I definitely recommend you try this place if you like sushi.

Jimmy is an amazing sushi chef. He greeted us himself, both hello and thanked us goodbye. The service was very good; prompt, attentive and efficient while still being friendly. This was a great place to eat and I will definitely return again and again. I can't wait to try all the rolls on the menu!

The sushi here is very good and very fresh. The chefs can make anything you want and they have a large variety on their menu. They also have a decent amount of alcohol choices for being a sushi place. The language barrier can be a little difficult but the service is always great.

This was unfortunately one of the most discombobulated meals/restaurants I have ever experienced. The inside dining room is a little creepy, blue neon lights, tables covered in angry Japanese cartoon characters, a fish tank at the corner of the bar, Jimmy Buffet on the radio and not a window in the whole dang place. The place is pretty big, and thinking back, if they were at capacity, there is no way they would be able to handle that kind of volume. I and three others walked in to a moderately full dining room. There were no servers to be found, only one sushi chef behind a rather large sushi bar. We were eventually seated and had our drink orders taken, After this, the service completely fell apart. No one seemed to know what was going on and everything took 10 minutes (at least) more than necessary. On top of it all, probably my worst nightmare, the dishwasher was coming out to clear tables rather than the servers taking dishes in. NOTHING kills my appetite more. It is gross. The sushi menu was unnecessarily big. The rolls were all very similar, but with different names. The food was nothing to rave about. If this is the best sushi you have had, well, I encourage you to branch out and try some other places, as there is much better out there than this. I want to give it one star, but the fact that the sushi was well rolled and somewhat visually appealing, two stars seems fair. For these prices and an experience like this, I find it hard seeing myself ever eating here again.

I'm not even out of this restaurant and I can't wait to write this review. I hope that some of you might learn from our mistake and not waste one of your precious vacation meals here. We decided to come here after reading the outstanding 5 star average review here on Yelp and similar results from 2 other travel/food review sites. What a terrible mistake to have picked this place after 3 personnel from our hotel recommended another sushi joint. I am hoping and praying that I won't be sick in the morning. We started this horrible dining experience with Miso Soup (too salty and I love salt) & salad with ginger dressing (too sweet). We had these sushi: Salmon skin handroll (the only decent food I had tonight), Catherine roll (looked like it was topped with KRAB, fake crab, VOMIT!), Jumbo Jimmy (should have been called JUMBO RICE roll), spicy tuna roll (just plain disgusting & the reason why I feel like I'm going to get sick in the morning. The tuna was WARM!) and avocado roll (the child in our group would NOT even eat it). We also ordered the chicken fried rice. The taste was just so so. Jimmy uses the frozen vegetables mix of green beans, diced carrots, peas & corn from the supermarket. Yes. That frozen pack! We asked for a side of eel sauce. Even their eel sauce was disgusting. It appeared watered down but tasted like soy sauce was added to it. We never met Jimmy. The wait staff literally ran from table to table. Weird! The restaurant appeared cluttered and not tidy. Lastly, the background music was blaring out from overhead speakers the whole time we dined. I must have heard an entire Pink Floyd album. Really? Pink Floyd and sushi? It just doesn't make sense. BTW, there was not one Japanese worker making sushi or serving tonight. The only reason why this establishment got a 1 star is because there is not a choice of ZERO.

The volcano special is unbelievably tasty! The sushi exceeded our expectations by far! We know our sushi/sashimi and will call this place our new sushi spot! IRB is closed on Sundays and thats how we wound up ordering from Jimmy's. Dumb Luck?

Jimmy is behind the sushi bar and is an amazing host. He greets customers by name and goes out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of. The sushi is amazing. The atmosphere is nice. The drinks are cold. We love this place and will return soon.

OMG! BEST SUSHI IN ALL OF PINELLAS COUNTY! Their Volcano Roll is so yummy & satisfying. The Sunny Mama roll is also deeeeeelish! Ugh I don't know why I've always passed by this place and never stopped for a bite. Definitely worth the money I paid :)

Poor service. Sushi is along the lines as publix sushi. Multiple health violations for food temperature. If your looking for good sushi in the Seminole area go to Oya Sushi. Would not recommend jimmy's to anyone!!

Jimmy has a great following for a good reason. So at times he is very busy but it is definitely a must try!

Fortunately, I discovered Jimmy's while traveling on a business trip. I've traveled on a weekly basis for years, and one of the few perks is having the opportunity to try the local sushi bars. Jimmy's is The Best sushi I I've had in my experience across the country. The quality and creativity are elite, and the service and staff were warm and welcoming. I wish that I lived here! I will be back. Thank you, Jimmy!!!

Jimmy's is this little hole in the wall restaurant, shoved between a boat dealership and an Asian store. there might be a hair salon or nail salon in there, too. However, when you get inside, the place is much bigger! We have not only eaten in the restaurant, but gotten sushi to bring home to nosh on during movie night. It's not what Yo Yo was up north, the pieces being smaller and the filling not so much, but it's always been fresh. I have tasted a bit of a fridge tinge on the tuna, but we've enjoyed the eel and all the other raw pieces we've had so far. The specials are always tasty and we look forward to going back. I actually have two pair of chopsticks in front of me on the coffee table to remind me to go back soon!

Jimmy's Sushi is the best!! We have been going there at least once a week since his opening in 2007. Great food, great atmosphere. Jimmy treats you like family.

Best sushi ever. I have come to Jimmy's since they opened and it's always great. The freshest seafood, the best rolls and a great selection of sake and wine and Japanese beer. The owner is involved in every aspect of the place and he pays attention to every detail. the place is clean, inviting, comfortable and the service is outstanding. Every different sushi I have tried has been delicious and better than any other sushi place I have ever been. Jimmy loves what he does, and you can really tell. the food is prepared with love and it tastes like it. Legitimate sushi prepared by a true master.

This is our usual destination when we get a night away from the kids, when we have friends in from out of town, or whenever we want to show off one of the gems of the St. Petersburg area. I also see way too many "check-ins" from my wife on facebook having lunch here with friends (while I toil away in Tampa). Always fantastic; I never seem to be able to stop eating until it hurts. The staff is always accommodating and it seems like the owner, Jimmy, is always there. He'll make anything you ask for and seems to truly enjoy creating a fantastic dining experience. Go and you will not be disappointed... and I that is the first time I've written that about a restaurant.

This 5 star review is for the sushi only. High quality fish and the rolls are made to perfection. Warning: The wait staff doesn't handle large volume very well. Your best bet is to go on a week night.

Melt-in-your-mouth, very fresh salmon sushi and service with a smile. They could use an upgrade in their salad offerings and replace the American-style music with more serene spa music to earn a 5th star. Easy parking.

Great sushi. The escolar is incredible. The triple threat is worth not sharing it is so good. The specialty rolls are great. Small place lacking ambiance but really the best sushi I have had in a long time. Lousy wine list. He would sell bottles if he got some decent glasses and a wine list. Definetly go for the food. Worth the trip from st. Pete

Blowfish Sushi is now called Jimmy's Sushi. This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Pinellas County, FL. The atmosphere is casual and quaint. Jimmy and his staff are friendly and fun- they always remember me and my special orders. I recommend any of the specialty rolls. They are large rolls and well worth it. I have been going to Jimmy's for two years at least once a month and have never had a bad experience. I always leave full and happy. The only problem is my eyes are bigger than my belly. If you are feeling creative- make up your own roll and they will name it after you and put it on the menu.

Very good to excellent sushi. Jimmy's gets a 5-star rating because the service and decor are much better than one might expect from a smallish roadside, semi-dive. And the teriyaki wings are fabulous!

This is actually called Jimmy's Sushi now... and it is the BEST! I love it... it is a well-kept secret, but they have really amazing sushi, very hospitable and polite staff, and Jimmy will make you anything you want! He is awesome, definitely sit at the sushi bar and talk to him. It is also a good place to get sushi takeout from. The Triple Threat is really good, and if you are really healthy eater, the Summer Roll is awesome!!! Highly recommend this place.

Jimmy's is everything people say it is. My husband and I just went there for a hard-earned anniversary celebration and we were blown away. I had the Gator Roll and the Volcano Roll, both super excellent if you like the cooked rolls, and my husband had the Sashimi Dinner. Afterward, Jimmy sat down with us and we enjoyed some warm and cold sake together. What a treat to be treated like old friends on our first visit. The fact that Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" was quietly playing over the speaker system was icing on the cake. I think we just found our go-to sushi place in Pinellas County!
