First let me say that I have never eaten here before tonight and I will probably never eat here again but it was not because of the food. My group of 7 arrived for the Early Bird Specials which really weren't specials at all. We were seated and given menus yet we had to ask for the early bird menus. Our waiter did give us those menus (Typed on the back of used paper, as mine had numbers on it). The specials included a potato and the salad to substitute vegetables for the potato was an additional $3 but on the regular menu for $2more it came with it. My group (5of the 7) are dieting and are not aloud potatoes so we asked if we could substitute a salad or perhaps more vegetables and were told NO SUBSTITUTIONS on anything. We were to pay for the potato we did not want (on the regular menu) and then if we wanted a salad they would charge an additional $3. I was not pleased to pay for something that they kept back in the kitchen. My 6 oz steak was maybe 6oz and was cooked fine.... not wonderfully delicious but good. Our waiter was strictly following the rules of the restaurant. He was very quick to refill our glasses and I felt gave exceptional service. I believe management needs to remember the value of customer satisfaction! I understand not substituting on the Early Birds but do not understand when a customer was ordering off the regular menu.

CASH ONLY!! Just thought I would say that first for my fellow Yelpers. This place seriously has the best steak in central FL! They are not only drenched in garlic butter but they are always cooked to perfection. Every time I am in Sebring racing, I ALWAYS make this the place I go to for dinner first. Definitely a GREAT place for large groups and the family too. The only negative is the fact that they ONLY take cash. C'mon people, time to get with the times!

Drinks are good and entertainment......I thought the food sucked!!!!!! to much garlic on everything....

This is a really good steakhouse in an area that is sometimes lacking options for a decent dining experience. You can smell the garlic as soon as you walk in the door and that is because they use It on everything. I had the 5oz filet and it was cooked perfectly and covered in butter and minced garlic. Everyone in my party was happy with their steaks and shrimp. Our only complaint was with the pricing of the children's menu, it was maybe the highest I have ever seen ranging $7 - $10 for pretty average kids menu portion sizes. I wouldn't put it on par with Flemings or Ruths Chris but it is really good for where it is.

Food was excellent. We had everything from the Top Sirloin (not normally a tender cut of beef) which they cooked to perfection, and made it taste like Filet. The gator bites were tender and zesty, the beer was ice cold, and a-plenty, and the "complimentary" salad was a welcome and unexpected treat. Highly recommended for a sit down dinner, or to throw back a few drinks and have a fun time.

If you are using your Yelp App in Highlands County, this places sticks out in a good way with a plethora of 4 star reviews! Like a good Cowpoke, I moseyed on over to check it out. There were very few horses hitched outside but plenty of cars. Pro Tip- There is a very large back parking lot and it's arranged do that you can often find a shady spot. When it's 94 degrees outside that is much appreciated. Everyone has a style of restaurant/bar that they prefer so what can you expect here? The restaurant is very large and just slightly dim with an open kitchen off to one side. The inside bar is quite small with probably ten or a dozen stools. I sat on one and my bartender was excellent. Friendly and competent is always a good thing. They make up for the small inside bar with a huge outside Tiki bar. It may be outside but as it's Central Florida, thank God its covered. They have live entertainment out there on the weekends. That must scare the hell out of the horses! The menu here is one of those something-for-everyone deals. There is tons of pub grub but there are also high-end steaks, grilled lobster tail and scallops. With a drink or two you could have a $20 casual meal or have a $40-$50 fine dining experience. Although I haven't tried them, several folks have told me the gator bites are excellent. If you are in the Sebring area, even if you don't own a horse, these folks should be on your short list.

It took us 3+ years but we finally stopped in here. What a great find in Highlands County! The wait staff was very nice, though our server was a tiny bit flighty (though she did apologize when she realized she forgot to follow up on our requests). The food was surprisingly good (don't give me that look, there aren't that many quality restaurants out here in the sticks!) ... and the portions were fairly huge! The oyster stew was super rich (no, really -- share this with someone or you'll have a tummy ache!) and the house dressing was tasty!! We will definitely be back!

Do not, I mean do not pass this place by. Smoked chicken wings appetizer, brisket sandwich, beef philli cheese steak, meat smoked to perfection, $33.17 Even the ice tea was great. I don't often post a 5 star review, but I will return here! Ask for a waitress named Brandy. She was awesome.

We came here with my family to celebrate my stepfather's birthday. The food is fantastic. We tried the calamari and fried chicken wings as appetizers. The wings were spectacular! For dinner I had a 6 ounce filet with blue cheese on top and the chips. it was slightly overcooked and I sent it back. They had it back to me in a flash and it was perfection. I tried some of my wife's seared ahi tuna and it was very delicious. I definitely would suggest this place to anyone.

After a full day of fishing, you're hungry enough to eat gas station hot dogs but The Watering Hole exceeded expectations. They have a huge tiki bar outside with a live band, the inside is very "Bass Pro" feel with stuffed wildlife on the wall instead of cheesy restaurant paintings. Our table had fried green tomatoes (my personal fav) zucchini fries, calamari, gator bites and a chicken bacon ranch burger; all great! I have to say that I'm kind of a ranch dressing diva and they have hands down the best ranch dressing I've ever had, it's got the perfect amount of zest! Our server was pleasant and our food was prepared quickly. Overall, a perfect ending to a great Saturday!

Stopped here after going to the casino. Yelp gave great reviews and didn't let us down. Sis and I had the prime rib excellent my other half got the cowpoke steak. My brother in law got the rack of lambs he sucked the meat right off that bone. Enjoyed everything. Also had the cheese sticks omg so yummy. Great service atmosphere excellent. Will return for sure.

The only place to eat in town as just about everything closes at 8:00 pm The food here is inconsistent at best If you should eat here do not sit at Danille's table she thinks the kitchen should make sure all the sides are are on plate before she brings it to the table Try to smile Danille's it may help improve your tips it's not the kitchens fault.

Sat outside in the tiki with a friend and Nikki waited on us. We had the Mahi Mahi. I had it blackened and he had it grilled. We both liked our dishes and Nikki provided great personal service. We may go back before the week is over.

Quite the fun place. The southern charm and comfort food is outstanding. We enjoyed the atmosphere to too things off. In a small town where precious little is available for entertainment, this stop cured the itch!

We ate here on Friday night and sat under the amazing Tiki hut at a table close to the bar. Service was excellent and the New York Strip steak was phenomenal! The bottomless salad is excellent, with a very nice house dressing. We had our main entrees very quickly. By all means, get the Maytag Blue Cheese on your steak - you won't believe how good it is.

Great service, friendly staff. Awesome environment indoor and out on the deck. Had appetizers and all were great!! Cajun shrimp, mozzarella sticks (big!!), onion tower, and fried mushrooms. Can't miss here.

We stopped here because my hubby liked "the cow". I thought it was going to be a hole in the wall bar or something and was really surprised once we walked in. First is the HUGE tiki hut. Plenty of tables, a lounge area and a large bar with several TVs. The inside is also very spacious and there are a couple of bars inside.......very thirsty patrons??? Cool decor and no cheesy music. Though there was quite a bunch of people dining, we could actually here each other without shouting. Started off with the bottomless salad. So good! Hubs and I both got steaks. He got the strip with a loaded baked potato, which he pronounced to be delicious. I got the filet.....mooing...with steamed veggies. Now here is where they go the extra mile.....I mentioned to Laura, our server, that I don't like squash and zucchini with my other veggies. When the veggies arrived there was only the good stuff I liked!!!! The topper was dessert. Sure lots of places have lava cake or Key Lime pie, but Cowpoke's has something we've never tried before and we were sure glad we did!!! Florida Orange cake.... Decadent, melt in your mouth delight! Don't miss this one.....even if you have to get it to go! This would be a great place to have a wedding!!!

We had dinner with a group of friends last night and the food was uneven at best. My husbands meal was excellent. He ordered oyster stew and fried oysters. Both excellent. Draft beer was cold although served in paper cups. I ordered fried pickles and they were probably above average. BUT my friend and I ordered prime rib and it was awful. It was mostly fat, a very small portion for $ 19 and my rare was dry and not rare. My friend's prime rib was no better. Our other friends seemed to be satisfied. Service was excellent. I personally would not go back.

We go here almost every Friday for dinner. There is nowhere else in Highlands County to get a good steak and a cocktail. The bartender George makes an excellent gimlet! The steaks are consistently good and the seafood and pasta dishes are tasty too. Servers are attentive and do a great job. The new owners have done a great job of rewriting the menu and modernizing the interior (no more gator in a cage). We have eaten at this restaurant for 12 years, and it is much better than it used to be ( with the old owners). We will continue to enjoy dinner here on a regular basis.

Amazing steak! Both my friend and I got the 8oz filet which was cooked exactly to specification and came with incredible garlic butter. The steak rivaled any Ruths Chris or Angus Barn steak I've ever had. Perfection! The side items left much to be desired- my side salad and baked potato were both shriveled/wilted, but that we were also dining at 10pm when the kitchen was closing down so I'll let it slide this time. This must be one of the only places to 'see and be seen' in Sebring- extremely random crowd- straight out of a small-town movie. Fun outside bar area and live music/dancing inside on a Saturday night.

I love a good steak and when I moved to Sebring it was a challenge to find a decent steak let alone a good one. When someone mentioned to us that we needed to try the watering hole we decided to give it a shot though we didn't have high hopes... The first time we went I ordered their rib eye and Tom had their prime rib. The rib eye had a wonderful garlic butter on top which wasn't needed but added a great kick. Tom's prime rib was slow cooked and then thrown on the grill which I've never seen before. It was absolutely wonderful. The red potatoes are fabulous as well. What I love about this place is their unlimited salad that is fresh romaine and big chunks of cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. They also have garlic bread which is just okay, but with everything else it isn't even needed!! This is one of the only restaurants that we frequent often. The staff is very accommodating because we like to enjoy a bottle of wine while grazing on our salads. The staff always waits for us to put in our order so we can relax and enjoy the evening. If you're in the area and want a good meal, this is the place to go!!

It's a good restaurant with delicious food, but tonight we must have been invisible to the servers. After we were seated we waited 20 minutes with no acknowledgement of our presence. Didn't even get offered a glass of water. So after a server seated a couple in the adjoining booth and then walked off without an acknowledgement of our presence, we got up and left. No one stopped us to question why we were leaving. It's as if we were actually invisible! Very disappointing. We would like to have eaten dinner there, but instead we went to The Outback.

The menu was a good surprise.. Being from South Beach, this place is definitely refreshing. They serve great quality food and the quantity, no complaints there. Service staff was super friendly even though my co-workers and I look like a few misfits from the city, they were still welcoming. I'd would love to go back there especially for their crab bisque.. Awesome!!

Awesome steak and fries, salads were so so, allergic to dairy and they only have ranch and oil and vinegar for dressings. Not a fan of oil and vinegar. Would come back for sure.

Best steak in Highlands county. My steak was cooked to perfection in butter infused with garlic and other "secret"seasonings. Delish! Fresh sides (salads & veges). Will definitely come back. Down side is the ambience. But I come here knowing what I'm coming for...the steak!

The "Watering Hole" is now known as "Cowpokes Watering Hole." As one who patronized this establishment on a quite frequent basis (when it was just the "Watering Hole") I am trying to be extremely fair when reviewing their food. We were very happy when they reopened, especially when the buzz was that the food quality and preparation methods would not be changed. All we care about is the food quality, taste and presentation. Three visits now, with upwards of 10 different meals ordered by our table and the results have been average to less than what we had come to expect from the "Watering Hole." It appears that a few of the more popular menu items may have changed. Recent visit = ordered 8oz tenderloin ("Cowgirl") with baked potato == arrived sans potato ("ran out of baked potato's"), almost no garlic butter on steak ("management decided it should be reduced") and the platter was presented containing only the steak and one small piece of green leafy material (seems like the lavish fruit garnish presentation has been terminated). Also, no garlic toast was either offered or served. On this most recent trip the waiter told us that if we wanted more of either we should have asked for it while ordering. This report is factual, no editorializing. This restaurant used to serve steaks, dripping with garlic butter, that rivaled those served at Bern's or Ruth Chris and were arguably the best in central Florida. Now; make your own decisions and comparisons.

I live in Miami and visit my parents here regularly and make The Watering Hole a must visit for the best lamb ever. If you want streak our lamb grilled to perfection this is the place to go. The restaurant is not fancy but the food is excellent. I cannot recommend this any more.

I'm a big fan of the Watering Hole. Not only do they have a 12' (or more?!) alligator in their back room for all the kids to look at, but this dive has some of the best food in Central Florida. I'm not joking around. You want some good italian food, it's here. Steak? Goooood. Huge hamburgers. You can't go wrong. Now, it doesn't look pretty at all from the outside, but it matters not. Say hello to the locals on Friday and Saturday nights with live music. It's generally nothing to rave about in terms of musical quality, but then again, this is Sebring. Cash Only

Went here during the week of the 12 hour race. Once entering this place, you will definitely know that this place isn't shy about using garlic. But in a good way, of course. Frankly, I just expected some good bar food given the name of the place but I found this place to have real good food. I ordered the ahi filet and I must say I've not had many ahi filets better than this one. Very moist, lightly seasoned, and the taste of the fish really came through. The others at my table liked their dish as well (T-bone steak, Ribeye steak). The only bad aspect to this place is that the service is on the slow side. And during race week, this place is packed and the service is seemingly even slower. Sebring is definitely culinary-challenged and this is definitely an exception. BTW, there is a live gator housed in a cage. I felt sorry for the gator since he was just chilling out in a small wading pool. Kind of f'd up for the gator, I thought. Oh well.

Big portions, goood food, mediocre service and an alligator that goes out for walks. I stay out of the back room where the alligator's cage and pool are. Stay in the front room, eat steaks. Go back again.

Passed through on the way back to Miami had the smoke brisket platter with homemade chips and a salad. Excellent food and service would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area.

Delicious food and excellent service. My husband had the prime rib which was done to perfection. I had the grilled shrimp which was just above average. The waiter was personable and really attentive. Overall we had a really nice dinner.

Excellent food in Sebring. Our table had two steaks, one Mahi, pasta and an order of Cajun Shrimp. All were excellent. Very well prepared. A pleasant surprise.

Cash Only

The Watering Hole is now out of business, unfortunately, it had the greatest steaks and seafood in the area.
