Ping's is the best Chinese food you can get in Sarasota and probably anywhere else too! The cooks know how to make REAL Chinese food and it tastes great. The service is fast and polite. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality Chinese cuisine.

Great authentic Chinese food, family owned, homemade, not your average take out Chinese, happy to personalize your order, good service, feels like you're in someone's home, friendly, fast, and fairly priced. Try the Singapore noodles or the sushi Mexican roll!"

The atmosphere was fair, small but decorated well. That said my group was one of the two groups there but we had to call the waitress over twice to refill drinks. Not to mention my order came out as General Tsu and not the orange chicken I had ordered. BUT the prices were moderate and everything was good. The tuna sushi was one of the best I had and I liked the egg roll which I am picky about. Great food but you need to demand good service.

This place is fantastic minus it's small and doesn't have the ambiance some finer Chinese restaurants do, but don't let that stop you. The food and service is top notch. Family owned, super polite with a quiet atmosphere. Two of my favorites are Pad Thai (pork) and honey garlic chicken. I would have to venture out and say probably everything on this menu is better than any Chinese restaurant I have been to in the area. Plus, the value can't be beat.

Need to update.. I have enjoyed but this past one, I got sick. REAL SICK with the sesame chicken. Was out of it for 2 days. Not doing this again. Bad Food. Shame because I had enjoyed in past, even though it is so much more expensive then others in area.

The food was okay. We got take-out so I can't speak to the service. My husband, who picked up the order, said they were very disorganized with lots of people waiting to get their orders. We had Sweet & Sour Pork, sort of. I should say we ordered pork but got chicken. The chicken, in addition to not being what I wanted, was dry and tough. However the sweet and sour sauce and the pork fried rice were good. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was "okay" according to my husband, so not exactly a rousing round of applause there either. I guess we may order from there again if the urge for Chinese were strong enough and we didn't want to drive too far. Obviously we'd be checking the order though.

Old fashioned place from the 70' in a strip mall on Fruitville Rd. We were part of a party of 8. The portions were large which made some happy. I ordered the shrimp with pineapple sauce. Adequate. My advice: do not order the white rice. It was white with a chemical smell. Yuck.

I lived and worked in Taiwan, Republic of China for several years, and since returning, I have been rather critical about Chinese restaurants in the U.S., particularly local ones. So many Chinese restaurants almost smother their entrees in bland gravy, or add too much sugar (to suit American tastes). Pings', however, uses very little gravy, and their seasoning choices are mouthwatering. The owner and staff are also quite friendly and glad to offer help with menu choices, and they also make sure that the kitchen will cook to suit people on special or restricted needs. My favorites are the Kung Pao Chicken (, Szechuan shrimp ), Singapore noodles ( - with or without curry), and the thick rice noodle dish, Chow Fun (). This family owned restaurant is the closest local restaurant I have found that tastes like the food in Taiwan, or in U.S. large city Chinatowns.

This is the first Chinese restuarant that I have found in Sarasota to serve the authentic chinese mustard made from scratch. So superior to the packaged stuff. That said, the food was served promptly and very tasty. Ping's restuarant is a simple, clean establishment in a shopping center. Nothing fancy but great food a very affordable prices. Tip, mix the very hot mustard in the sweet and sour sauce for a great dip. Enjoy.

I met my dad and my honey here for dinner a few nights ago at my father's suggestion and was pleasantly surprised. When I first walked in, I found a totally unexciting atmosphere in a strip mall. It looked like a run-of-the-mill coffee shop inside, but did have a very friendly hostess/waitress to show me to my seat. We sat in a booth and were immediately served ice water and a bowl of VERY crunchy noodles with duck sauce. I find these very hard to resist and must admit that I ate more than I should have. We looked over the menu and decided to share a seafood with mixed vegetables dish and a shrimp with lobster sauce dish. I also tasted a bit of my dad's wonton soup- and must say that it was better than average. Not too salty, fresh and definitely homemade. The entrees were also very fresh and full of large pieces of lobster, shrimp, scallops and a great assortment of vegetables. The service was super friendly and fast and had the feel of eating in someone's home- where they really put attention and love into what they cook. This, along with a few other experiences I have had so far in the area, has already changed my preconceived thoughts about eating ethnic foods in Sarasota. It DOES exist, it does NOT make me miss living in NYC, and it IS a great value and worth a visit.

Best Chinese I've had in Sarasota. The interior could use a little updating ... but I eat out for the food. Service was also good.

My mom and I always have our first meal at Ping's--it's a tradition! Very basic, very standard, but does the trick. They also have sushi.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
