Disorganized, dysfunctional, worst service ever management was a joke. Waited 20 mins for our drinks after waiting 15 for a service to come by. Server forgot we hadn't ordered food which when we did order took 30 mins or more. (Fish and chips) Asked for manager he said well let me check Never once introduced himself or apologized for our bad experience. Never going back nor would I recommend to anyone going either fish and chips were not even worth it.

Gave them some time to work out the kinks.... But not a pleasurable night out on many fronts. Disappointing. Strike two!

We went for the Bottomless Brunch. What a Great value! The food was terrific (I got the scrambled eggs with fresh fruit And potatoes) with bloody Mary's. There was a DJ playing great music, waterfront dining and such a unique atmosphere. Good vibes, entertainment, smiling faces... It was a party. I'll def be back!

You can't beat sitting on the porch overlooking the bayou and having a hamburger and a draft for $5.50 fron 2-5 pm. They serve breakfast from 7 am - 11 am. and are open until 2am.

Went only for a couple drinks but will definitely head back for a meal. Staff was super friendly, especially our bartender Tiphanie. Decor is out of this world and hours are awesome!! 8am happy hour?! Sign me up ;)

So far not to bad. I like the patio and out side bar.The food is good.but they seem to have a hard time getting orders correct.. They have great burgers. They should have a beer special. Hope to up date this with more good news after a few more visits.

This place is cute inside but man the food is terrible service is terrible the staff is rude you get ignored and certainly not worth waiting for with lots of great places to get seafood and great breakfast here in Sarasota no need to spend your money here

You're paying for the real estate, not the food. I took my daughter for lunch. The $15 tab wasn't bad I guess, but the burger was a frozen patty prior to cooking. It had that rubbery texture to the bite. The ambience is nice enough - it's modeled after a ship builder/ boat works kinda place. Not a bad place. 2 stars for my less than amazing plasti-burger but I will try it again to get something else and see if that was a fluke.

Bobs Boathouse has come a long way since first opening. The atmosphere and free entertainment is superb. The staff is here to make your stay memorable and enjoyable.

I will never go back. Got pressured into buying drinks we didn't even really want. Waited forever for them and then once we put in our food order we waited over another 45 minutes. Over 45 for soup salad and a sandwich. The place was very empty, no excuse for being ignored. We had to flag down some other server to finally get our food and drinks replaced. Over priced for food that was okay at best. Never again.

Took the family to Bobs for dinner. Food was decent portion, good quality, nothing signature stands out, but WAYYY overpriced. We will not return.

So we went as a group of 8 and everyone liked their meal. Mace provided excellent service too, as well as others checking in to see how everything was. It was $1.99 taco night and $1.99 corona and cuba Linda's and we started with an appetizer of tacos. Beers, Cuba Linda's margaritas and martinis were served promptly with a complimentary appetizer. Several guests ordered the tacos, 2 had grilled trout (delicious), quesadillas and a turkey panini. We left trying to figure out what night we'd come again for a special drink or food. We went early (5pm) and were skeptical based on reviews. We will definitely be back. Had to hold back a star as the ladies bathroom was very dirty, a real disappointment as someone had told us to check it out.

Potentially the worst service, the worst food, the worst atmosphere..... I will never be here again. That's before I started reading about the owner and his inability to exercise a certain level of respect for his neighbors by having these bands play out back. Look, I'm young....and the people complaining about the noise are annoying to me. However, that just shows that the owner doesn't know how to play ball. Also happen to know why he had to change his sign out front. Hint: someone didn't pay someone.

AWFUL we went with a large party. Two waitress took care of us. It took 30min for our drinks to come out and by the time they did they were completely watered down. Everyone's food order was wrong. I had to ask the waitress twice for something very simple and the food was absolutely terrible. Then when the bills came out it took them no joke almost an hour to get it straight. Eventually the manager came out and had to comp some meals because of how bad the service was. I'm not a complainer and I usually don't mind but I was really bummed to see all the work they put into the place only to find out the atmosphere is the only perk about it. Would NOT recommend this place. :(

When Bob and his people sat down around the conference table to plan his new restaurant, I wonder at the unfolding of events.... Bob wanted a nautical theme, because the land he acquired was on a creek - that's where the "Boathouse" came from, naturally. Bob's lawyer suggested that the critical element of a boathouse would be boat paraphernalia - that's how the decor was decided. Bob's marine mechanic Googled "boathouse food" and created the menu. Bob's accountant searched assiduously for the best servers and managers Craigslist can provide. Lastly, Bob's banker saw an arbitrage opportunity to unload the assets of: ~ a boat repair shop he was shepherding through bankruptcy (all the exterior junk. You'll see.) ~ a hotel/conference facility on his books in foreclosure (the second-hand chairs.) ~ a lumber yard with excess stock (all the low-grade wooden fixtures including mid-air table storage.) ~ his buddy's failed commercial clothing business (the kitschy staff get-up. Bowties? Srsly?) And the services of; ~ a carpentry business his brother-in-law owns (all the poorly nailed and screwed fittings.) But, you say, this is an establishment serving food and beverages. Well, yes, that's technically true. Food is served here. It's fine. But you'll never notice because you'll be unable to overcome the feeling that you're eating in the restaurant equivalent of an oceanic Goodwill store. Bon voyage.

I went to Bob's boathouse with my family because of having received gift cards. The outside appearance of the restaurant is fun and quirky but inside is jam packed with nautical junk and really stressed me out. I ordered a bottled beer and it took about a year for me to receive it. I easily could have gone to the store and back and gotten a 6 pack in the same amount of time. Appetizers took even longer to receive. My uncle got his appetite AFTER he got his entree, which also took an eternity. The food was decent, if you like no flavor, no seasoning, and cold food. Even though we didn't actually pay for this meal, I still feel ripped off. I would suggest you give any gift cards for this "restaurant" that you receive to someone who truly needs food because this wasn't even worth the drive there.

We gave the place a good year to settle in after the initial flurry of negative reviews. We then gave them a shot for brunch on a slow Sunday before Christmas. First of all, I applaud business establishments that hire physically and mentally disabled individuals. It's part of what makes Publix one of the best grocers in the nation. However, when you hire those individuals and put "Head Server" or "Manager" name tags on them, something is seriously wrong. Food was decent and came out quite quickly. Of course, a bit more time in the kitchen might have resulted in fully cooked eggs. We were happy to get our food quickly though because in the time it took we had the pleasure of inhaling second hand smoke from three consecutive employees taking their smoke break right next to our table on the patio. The service was so unbelievably bad however, that we wouldn't even consider giving the place another shot when there were actually more than five other customers present. There are so many better establishments in town that there is just no excuse for wasting your time, money, and health here.

The food was mediocre at best. I was with a large party(7) for brunch. The restaraunt was not busy, yet it took over an hour for our food to be served. It appeared that they may have been short staffed or having problems w/kitchen staff. I say this because while we were waiting two people who appearred to be in management came out on two separate occassions to ask how we were doing. The waitress was very nice & attentive. When the food came, some of it was cold(the patron didn't send it back because he had already waited so long). The worst part was as were leaving, the girls at front desk (hostesses) did not even acknowledge us which both my siater & I found very rude. No good-bye,have a nice day, thank you for your business or anything. Downright rude hostessses. I have spoken with management since & informed them about experience. Hopefully,if I return I will have a positive review.

Been here about ten times, as it is close and casual. The food is just okay, meaning edible, but not good. I might recommend it for drinks outside, but for the prices, I can't recommend it for food. There are many places around that are better. Big disappointment since it took so long to open.

Bobs Boathouse is fine, clean and friendly environment. We had homemade clam chowder that was very clammy, and tuna salad sandwich. All good food and we ate everything no problem. Staff was more then accommodating and the pricing was in line for what we had. They have a realistic happy hour 2-7 everyday with super good specials. We will be back. Like the fun atmosphere. Not sure what all the hating is all about

We had a great time there. We had dinner by the water, extensive menu from frog legs to a fried baloney sandwich . Bobs meatloaf is the best and there calamari was to die for. After dinner we sat outside and had a few drinks and enjoyed the music.

Bob's Boathouse -- Still a project in process This ranks as one of the most disorganized and dysfunctional restaurants I have ever experienced ANYWHERE -- and I've been to some "anywheres" that you would never want to visit. Run, do not simply walk away. From the lackluster greeting on, it was clueless and chaotic. Did I mention a 2 course meal took.....3+ hours? The COCKTAILS took 45 minutes to appear. The menu is flimsy and disorganized. Complete with a rant by the owner about people who didn't "stick with them" as it were during their 5 YEAR odyssey to get this place opened. We had anticipated. We were excited about coming to enjoy it. Then, the reality. They make everyone on the waitstaff wear shirts that have the logo - and the "name" BOB - regardless of what their name might be. Cutsy that doesn't click. The waiter could not tell you what wines he had - or ANY of the premium liquors - no, not even what their house brands were. Sadly, neither could the bartender--we had to send someone on a recon mission to physically GO to the bar and LOOK. We told THEM what they had - and even with that knowledge, a simple Bombay and tonic came out tasting like dishwater. There was an officious "manager" who did explain that he was just a retired guy from Michigan who knew the owner--but who was there to make sure "everyone is happy". They hung the poor, well intentioned but TOTALLY untrained waiter out to dry. And a group of staff people had him cornered discussing how to divvy up the tips while we waited for our first drinks. Questions about the food? "I don't know" Questions about the management "I don't know" - in fact , no one would tell us the name of the owner or of the general manager. And gee, neither was available on site - probably locked in the "bubble" of an office behind the host stand, peering distrustfully at customers. There were some cute ideas, though not well executed. You do have to love all the decrepit boats and boat parts being used. But the flotation cushions as bench cushions? Not a great idea. The picnic tables suspended from the ceiling? Baffling. And the lights at night are screamingly bright. About the food. Well, the scent of the salmon preceded it -and not in a good way. The greens on the salad were fresh and good. There was about a 40 minute gap between when the first person was served and when the last person got their dinner. (Though one person ordered a burger and fries....and got the fries 30 minutes before the burger) Uncomfortable on so many levels.. But most especially for our hosts, who were quite embarrassed - who wants to spend the evening apologizing to their guests instead of enjoying a dinner out? Yes, they gave some people in our party "gift checks" to return. And they said they had distributed a LOT of those since opening. They DO want you to return - but no one really wants to rush back--and 3 hours to get dinner in a very overstaffed and nearly empty restaurant is not alluring. Not truly hospitable. Not competent. Not good. Can't with good conscience recommend that you even try it - I'm sorry for the owner, but his/their arrogance towards customers and lack of even sincere apology for their disasters does not leave one sympathetic for the incompetence. It is not "job well done" or even "work in progress" - progress here does not seem to be a goal.

I guess for the opening day of a restaurant one would think they would actually be ready to open??? Well... Not this place. What a cluster @&!#. Tables open everywhere but still a 45 minute wait? Why? Don't know! We did however manage to find the exit 15 minutes later while we waited for someone to just look at us at the outdoor bar, unsuccessfully I might add. Maybe we will try it again in a month or two when they might REALLY be ready to open????

Ok I needed to post this! Yes don't know who decorated this place but they kind of missed the boat;) The idea is good behind the Baci court and pool but it's not done well! They need to get rid of the leather sofas!! Again the concept is cool they need to class it up a bit. Ok the service was GREAT!! We were asked many times if we were happy and the food was good. We got a lobster roll and clams trips I would of given the food 4 stars. I would go again the decor is just cheesy... Too bad this place could be a gold mine

I went here for a friend's birthday. My burger was pretty good. The french onion soup tasted old or something. The music was typical tourist beach music, which I kind of like anyway, but it didn't need to be so loud, like, rock-concert-loud. At least I liked my burger. I wouldn't go back. There are so many other restaurants in Sarasota that are way better and less expensive.

Whatever you do DO NOT GO TO BOBS!!!! This is the WORST RESTAURANT that I have EVER been too. I recently went to Bobs for one of their live bands with a group of my friends. Before the band started we ordered drinks and food. What do you know we never got greeted at the table. My boyfriend went up to the hostess stand to let her know that we have been sitting there for quite some time and her reaction to him was as if we were a hassle. We had THREE different serves come to us to get our drink order. NONE of them came back with the drinks. Finally the FOURTH server came, her name was Lauren, took our drink order and food order. She got the drinks right but messed up the food order terribly. My boyfriend ordered the fish special, I believe it was the Mahi Mahi, he asked for a garden salad before, he never got the garden salad. Finally I told him that he should say something to Lauren. We couldn't find Lauren the whole entire time. Finally by the time my boyfriend was done eating she was found. He told her that he never got his salad her response was "Oh I forgot to put it in, you don't want it anymore right?" I was shocked by this statement because I work in the food industry and I would never say that to my guest. He said yes I still want it. He finally received his salad and he ordered balsamic dressing.....the salad came out with ASIAN dressing...now we were getting irritated because again Lauren was not to be found and EVERYONE now was done eating. I finally went up to the bar and asked the bartender if she had any balsamic dressing, she asked me who my server was and I said it was Lauren, as Lauren was walking in behind her she started to roll her eyes and said oh sorry I must have picked up the wrong dressing. The whole time this server was so nasty to us that I did not think she should deserve a tip from me. We waited for Lauren to come back to give us the tab...what do you know ONCE AGAIN she could not be found...I had to go up to the bar once again. I finally got my tab and paid and I DID NOT LEAVE A TIP! I took both credit card receipts and threw them away when I got home. We immediately left and did not even stay to watch the band play due to the nastiness and rude service we received. The next few days I get a call from my girlfriend telling me to check my bank account...my receipt said $27.93 .... my bank account said $32.93! Lauren ADDED ON A $5 tip without my consent!!! I have called Bobs Boat House to dispute that. No one ever directly connected me to a manager. FINALLY I was connected to RYAN who took my information and asked me to send me a picture of the receipt. He said he would refund my money...Its been 3 WEEKS now and I have yet to receive my money. I finally called back 4 days ago and I spoke to TOM I told him the situation and he had ever excuse in the book lined up. He said he will send me a money order for my full amount. I have YET to receive it. DO NOT GO TO BOBS BOAT HOUSE!!! THEY ARE THIEVES!!! AND THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT EVER!!!!!

The Bartenders are great! If you want to go and have a drink at the bar, that's fine. The food was mediocre - nothing special - same stuff you can get anywhere else (better and for less) but the service was very very bad. I think they just pulled some people off the streets and gave them a server job. Our server had no idea what was going on. We gave him an order for drinks that took 20 minutes to get. our appetizers actually came out before the cocktails. It was early in the evening and they were out of a lot of things on the menu already. For a place that serves seafood - they didn't even have hot sauce. So if you have to go - sit at the bar and order and bring your own bottle of crystal...

I only wish I were able to post a NO STAR rating. I gave this place a try - twice. The first time they had only been open a couple weeks and clearly did not have their act together... or so I thought. Waited until last week to return again. I should have known by the nearly empty parking lot that the new-excitement of the place had worn off and people had enough bad experiences to no longer dine here. My second attempt was shockingly worse than the first. The first time, the wait staff used the outdoor patio to smoke and proceeded to do so about 10 feet from my table. We watched them grab a smoke between serving customers without going anywhere near a restroom to wash their hands. At one point, there were four of them smoking at one time. I requested to speak to a manager as we left and told her of my concern to which she replied, "they have no where else to smoke" as if that was a suitable response. The second trip, it was too hot to sit outside so I don't know if that is still the practice. I ordered exactly what I had the first time - a grilled fish sandwich. Again, my fish was not fully cooked. Completely raw about 4 bites in. We ordered some fried items to share, figuring they couldn't mess those up... Oh yes they did! Both were so overcooked that we only ate about 1/3 of what was brought. Never once did the wait staff ask if we were enjoying our meal. My two dinner companions had a pasta dish and meatloaf. The meatloaf was described as the "driest meatloaf ever" and the pasta primavera got a "I think can actually eat this" response. That appeared to be the best thing on our table that night. So, I believe I have given Bob's one chance too many and I will not return.

Went here last Saturday to grab a bite to eat. They couldn't make a hotdog for my kid 13 minutes before the lunch hour started so we walked out. I had high hopes for this place but Phillippi Creek is without question still king. Stay clear. For an establishment that took years to open after numerous delays, you would think the effort would have been placed on the customer experience.

Just got black from Bobs boathouse. Service was fine - food not great. I asked for tomato, lettuce and onion for my burger - surcharge was $.95. I'm not sure a 1/4 pound burger for $5.76 for meat and bun was a great deal. I can't forget the bag of chips that comes with the burger. Wife's French onion soup was tasteless. All in all a bad experience.

We went here on Sunday 11/10 to try their lunch but we left almost immediately after spotting a Big Brother sign that says all patrons are being video AND audio taped. We confirmed this with the manager who told us that it's for the customer's safety-come to think of it,that's what our own patronizing government tells us when they listen to our phone calls and read our emails. So if you don't think that a company you're paying money to owes you some privacy and are a big fan of the NSA,then this is the place for you--me,I'll give my business to many of the good restaurants nearby that show their customers a little respect.

Not sorry I went, it's been a fun week describing to friends just how correct all the reviewers are about this place. We went Tuesday night and first off, there was a girl with menus who seemed ready to take us to an outside table but the 'hostess' behind the desk pointed us to follow the red arrow when we asked to be seated outside. Poor girl with menus wasn't able to do her job and stood around looking confused. Ok...we thread our way through part of the restaurant and one of the waitstaff took us to the table on the deck. I had to change seats because of the glaring lights in the parking lot shining in my eyes as we were there after sundown. We were given menus and placed our food order. There was a reasonble number of people seated outside as well but we noted the servers coming to the deck standing around one corner to have their cigarette breaks. Bob's Boathouse has a novel way of making a tuna salad sandwich. Take soft flatbread, place house salad with too much onion on one side and a scoop of tuna on the other and fold in half keeping both parts separate - that way you can choose what you want taste-- salad or tuna. Or you can self serve the dry salad when it falls out onto your plate. Bag of chips was ok..as I'd wonder what portion I would get otherwise. I don't think I'll be ordering that again if we go back...though the flatbread was tender and tasty, the rest of the 'sandwich' was a total fail. My partner's fish and chips were no more than 4 fish fingers with a plate loaded with soggy cold french fries. 11 cooks in the kitchen and can't turn out decent fries or know how to make a sandwich correctly? We overheard the server reciting the evening specials to another table which she did not inform us of. We ordered the key lime pie for dessert to share which was extremely delicious but rather a tiny wedge for the price. Then we had to wait almost 20 minutes for the bill as the server bounced around all the other tables and ignored our's. My partner had to flag her down and ask for the check. Her remark was "I thought you were still waiting for dessert to come from the kitchen." Sorry, no, eaten and plate thoughtfully removed quickly. I've heard of the list of names on the men's room 'furniture' and find that to be rather petty of the owner who seems to want to blame everyone else but himself. But I will admit to a curiosity to see if there's a similar venting in the ladies room. All I can say is -- remember what the old Bob's turned into....this 'restaurant' is sitting on prime land just ripe for a change of land use after the allowed passage of time and will be turned into another tall highrise condo...again blocking the neighorhood's view of the water ;)

LOVED the old Bobs Boathouse on Siesta, it was done right. The new one has been done all wrong. It all feels cheap and done without regard to what really matters. We ordered Margaritas and they truly were the worst drinks we have ever had. I would love for this place to work and succeed, but that will never happen when they give you your side of chips still in the same small Lay's bag you used to take to school in your lunch box.

We took a friend there tonight thinking it would be fun. First we had to find the door. We didn't want to wait for the table cloth room so went outside and found a recently vacated sofa/ lawn chair table. Our very enthusiastic server barely cleaned the table leaving a wet rag on a lawn chair next to our table. When we ordered I declined a side dish because she said a small salad came with the Ahi. This was not the case. Husband ordered grouper sandwich 3x blackened and it did not arrive with blackening. Utensils arrived in dish towels worse than my rags. Our guest requested an additional one and was made fun of by our server. Due to health issues he did not want to be exposed to the mess left on the table. No less than three people explaining that the name on their shirt was really not their own ( who cares) approached and interrupted conversations to ask if we were ok. Perhaps eating at the inside tables is a different experience. Would like to know. We were also victims of second hand smoke. We wish you well but you will have some growing pains unless changes are made.

The fish stinks from the head to the tail is an old saying when leadership is suspect. Something is wrong with the management of this place. How can anyone in charge allow what we witnessed and overheard and not see it themselves. I watched a waiter go from table to table and apologize, to an annoying degree, for something that went wrong with their order or their service. When you have to do that repeatedly, and I imagine they do it a lot here, the section leads are not paying attention or the floor manager is weak. I have only one suggestion - focus on the food - which you are clearly not doing. Get back to basics. Make things great. Make a great fish sandwich at least, mine was horrid for 15.99. Seriously I would have better enjoyed a Mac-Fish sandwich. Hire a pro in the kitchen and rework the menu. Give it a shot, guys. Adopt and survive, you put so much into this already. Make it great and don't accept what you currently have.
