For the last couple of years we have avoided Tommy Bahama thinking it was a tourist trap. This was a huge mistake. Frankly, it was one of our best dinning experiences in Sandestin. From the moment I called and made the reservation to the time we left, it was clear that Tommy Bahama understands the service industry. Under the leadership of general manager, Mario Mardones, the staff works feverishly to ensure every detail of your visit is exceptional. The restaurant is immaculate. Interior decor has a slightly modern twist to tropical and is in no way cliché. Everything from the booth we sat in to the restrooms are well thought out, spacious, and seriously clean. Something I rarely comment on or notice is lighting. The restaurant definitely makes use of outdoor lighting and amenities are organized accordingly. However, the interior spaces glow with a unique ambiance created by numerous layers of lighting from wall sconces, ceiling lamps and pendants, and what appeared to be hundreds of small halogen recessed lights. Despite the fact that everything about the atmosphere was perfect, the star of this restaurant is the food. They have an incredible menu selection that is modestly priced when you consider you would pay nearly as much, if not more, at one of the tourist trap "fry stands". Combine that thought with the value of their service and I'd venture to nearly guarantee it's unmatched. We were seated by Mario. He was sincere and offered his menu recommendations when I asked what his favorites were. They were admittedly unexpected. Mario suggested the macadamia nut encrusted red snapper or the parmesan crusted sanibel chicken. He also introduced us to our server, Marlene, who shared a similar sincerity when attending to us. She was attentive and kind to our two children (8 & 11), presented the specials of the evening, took our drink orders, and I ordered the duo of dips (fresh guacamole & a creamy, slightly pimento cheesy, dip) served with corn chips as an appetizer. Our drinks and appetizer arrived quickly. The dips were perfect for the family to enjoy. We then ordered our meals. I went with the grouper special, my wife ordered the sanibel chicken, our daughter (11), ordered the chicken strips, and my son ordered the mac and cheese. While waiting for our food, we were brought an amuse bouche of creamy smoked salmon. Seriously...an amouse bouche at a restaurant "chain"? More of that unquantifiable value I mentioned earlier. Our food arrived at the perfect time and everyone's entrées were delicious. The grouper and chicken dishes were show stopping delicious. They were well beyond our expectations and unreplicatible in our home kitchen. The grouper was perfectly blackened and sat on a bed of vegetables. The sanibel chicken was moist and accompanied by delicious mashed cauliflower and broccoli. My daughter's chicken strips put Cane's to shame and were served with a delicious spicy sweet mustard sauce. My son's mac and cheese was scratch made with perfectly al dente pasta. We cleaned our plates with their fresh "crown" rolls (I know...homemade rolls right...amazing). And then the desert tray came out. We were so full but couldn't stop our gluttonous escapade. We ordered the Malted Chocolate Pie, Pineapple Crème Brulee, and my son got an ice cream sundae. It all tasted better than it looked...which was beautiful by the way. All of that for less than $40 per person including gratuity. I've paid significantly more for dramatically less. After our meal was finished, Marlene bid us farewell and we were escorted out by Mario. Seriously... the general manager escorted us out. Gave me his business card and expressed his sincerest desire for us to return again. He suggested we personally ask for him should we ever experience trouble getting a table in the future. WHAT!!! During an era where service seems to be declining everywhere you look, Tommy Bahama is setting the new standard of excellence. A trip to Sandestin is not complete without this experience at least once during your visit.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! My husband and I tried this place last week on our date night and were blown away at how well they treat their customers. I got the chicken grilled sandwich and it was awesome! My husband got the rib-eye and loved it! We didn't have any room for dessert but they actually bring out a platter to show you the different kinds of desserts...say what?!?! I am sure they are amazing but we just didn't have the room for it. Make sure to mention you are first time guests, you may get a little surprise! I also found out they have a great happy hour too from 4pm-6pm! Check this place out if you haven't done so yet! And ask for Jordan to be your waiter, if he is still working there :)

This place is outstanding. Everything I tasted was incredible and i favored every bite. When I got there, the wait was about 20 minutes so I hit the store which is attached. I love the brand, especially all of the great beach clothes. It is pricy but Tommy Bahama is an expensive line so that's not a surprise. When I sat down I ordered a nice strawberry lemonade and a crab bisque soup. It was nice and creamy with slight tangy spice to it. The fresh bread crown was a fitting complement to the bisque. I was torn on what to order for my entrée between the Macadamia nut encrusted snapper and the Caribbean grilled mahi mahi dish. I eventually chose the Macadamia nut encrusted snapper. It was a damn good and I mean damn good filet of fish. With a side of wasabi seasoned asparagus on a rocking bed of wild rice and almond shavings. I loved every bite. It got better. Our waitress brought all of us a small dish consisting of a smoked salmon dip and a fancy looking cracker and that was on the house. That was very tasty. I did think I had room for dessert but the key lime by looked way to good. It was a fresh tasting triangle of goodness. Yum! The service here is great and I will be back for sure.

Very Nice !! Great food, with well trained servers that know the menu & give accurate comments. Two couples had lunch & enjoyed the Crab Bisque, Ahi Poke Napoleon app, & Lump Blue Crab & Avocado Salad !! Love this place. But not a view of the water, but the food totally makes up for that loss. So when you are tried of just common over priced food on the beach go to Sandestin Tommy Bahama Resturant !!

Best steak salad I have ever had! Dressing was different and amazing, steak was cooked perfectly... Pineapple Martini great as well!

My family & I have eaten here about 10 times over the past 5 years or so. Each time the service is great & the staff is accommodating with the kids. Despite it being a chain & associated with a clothing line, it accomplishes high-end Caribbean without being tacky/touristy. We've eaten all of the seafood items on the menu - all great. Cocktails are very solid. There's an outdoor grassy area beside the restaurant the kids enjoy. Great place.

My family and I recently came to Destin on vacation after a nine year hiatus and were interested in trying out some new places in addition to our regular haunts from years past. To Yelp I went, and found the reviews for Tommy Bahama in Sandestin to be very good. Checked out the menu online, everything sounded good, so we decided to give it a try. We stopped in for a late lunch, around 2:00 in the afternoon. My Mom and I ordered the Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad, while my Dad got the Macadamia Nut Encrusted Snapper. Here is where our otherwise wonderful dining experience lost a star: the waitress forgot to ask Mom how she wanted her fish cooked. So, when our salads arrived, the tuna on both were lightly seared. This was perfect for me (I eat sushi, after all), but Mom likes all of her meats well-done...we're talking not a hint of pink at all. So, her salad was sent back. What was cool was that the waitress and manager were very apologetic and served Mom a complimentary bowl of the Crab Bisque, which Mom said was very delicious. Meanwhile, Dad and I got started on our lunches. The tuna salad, regardless of how you want your fish cooked, is very good and highly recommend it. It's a toss of nutty quinoa, creamy avocado along with corn salsa, almonds and wonton strips for lots of crisp and crunch. The truffle vinaigrette is super light but still flavorful. Dad reported that his red snapper was tasty. He even ate the asparagus that came with it as a side dish, which says a lot because my Dad is a very meat-and-potatoes sort of guy and usually turns his nose up at anything green. The atmosphere at Tommy Bahama was suggestive of a Caribbean bungalow. Comfy yet elegant, classy yet casual. There are even throw pillows in the booths! You can dress up in your finest resort wear...even if that means shorts and sandals. Our first-time experience was great and we will be back the next time we're visiting Florida!

Came here for dinner with all my girls during my Bachelorette weekend trip! Was the BEST food choice we made ALL weekend! I fell in love with Tommy Bahama in Naples last summer and this visit only reassured me that my love for the restaurant is real! Haha...but seriously! Can't go wrong with drinks, food, and service! They accommodated all of us 9 crazy fun women! We were even treated to a small taste from the chef of the delicious quesadilla topped with red pepper jelly! Couldn't be happier with our evening there!

Excellent service, delicious drinks, AMAZING FOOD, in a really comfortable beautiful garden sitting area. We started with a yummy Macadamia Nut Encrusted Goat Cheese appetizer and some Korean style chicken drumsticks. I had the tasty Caribbean Mahi Mahi entree but I totally had food envy over the Fish Tacos and Ahi Tuna salad my family ordered. Oh the coconut dip for the plantains is pure mana from heaven!!

Worst restaurant experience ever! Waitress didn't listen, argued & told us what she liked, then proceeded to get the orders wrong. She mentioned there were only 2-steaks left at 7:15pm then left to confirm and order it for us ~ came back 25-minutes later with everyone else's food NO steak, said it was gone (seems she forgot to enter that order), want anything else? No apology for the delay either. Food definitely not up to Tommy Bahama standard, from luke-warm to tasteless. A thoroughly disgusting dinner. We ordered an appetizer and, after 25 minutes, found our waitress and when asked she said she thought we were kidding ~ and the evening went downhill from there. When drink orders were taken the waitress, in her agonizingly high-pitched staccato voice argued with our guest who ordered a "Bourbon Neat" Waitress wanted to put it in a martini glass or in a tall glass full of ice. This argument went on for about 10-min. 2 of us ordered Crab Bisque - arrived without spoons! Waitress left to get some & never returned. We got 'em ourselves. It was quite good, had she returned we would have ordered another. We've dined here many times and it was ALWAYS a great experience - NOT this time. The room was quite loud with 2 "not being looked after" kids whose parents thought it cute when they turned lights on & off and pulled off the table cloth. And finally, when were asked how we liked our dinners (most of which went untouched) we told them how awful it was. The reply: "Oh that's too bad" and we got our full bill no discount for bad-food. One Guest (who had the fish-n-chips) spent the night in regular toilet runs (he actually ate his luke-warm, non-crispy flaccid dead-fish...and paid for it twice. Unless things improve, they ought to add more racks of clothes and fitting rooms. So if you think we had a rather poor experience, go there and try-it, you'll never leave McDonalds again! Nice clothes though!

If you are visiting the Sandestin area and looking for a nice dinner, look no further! My husband and I came here for a night out without the kids, and it was the best meal either of us have had in a very long time. I'm from New Orleans and am a huge seafood snob, not easy to please. First of all, the crab bisque was the best soup I've ever tasted. Creamy and delicious. My macadamia nut encrusted snapper was cooked perfectly, my husband had the Thai shrimp and scallops and the scallops were also perfectly caramelized on the outside. The sauces in both of our dishes were excellent! Our waitress Marlene was wonderful and attentive, very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave me great advice, so glad I went with her favorite dish! Finally our cocktails were creative and delicious, I had the grapefruit basil martini - actually let me be honest, I had 3. My husband had the blood orange margarita, both were awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a date night away from the kids. A little pricey for a family night out but you get what you pay for! Leave the kids at home.

For this family of four, Tommy Bahamas Restaurant and Bar is now a 'place to eat'. Everything we ordered was excellent and the service from Kaylie K was outstanding. It started with a gift of Amure Bouche from the chef. The arugula, mushroom and onion flatbread appetizer was very good and followed by Caesar and slightly sweet Bungalow salads. The entrees included the best shrimp and (smoked gouda) grits dish we have ever tasted plus coconut shrimp, scallop sliders and blackened fish tacos with a nice nice crunch. The only - very serious - regret was that we arrived a little late and did not plan for dessert. The pineapple creme brulee, chocolate souffle thing, pina colada layer cake, flourless chocolate cake all looked WOW but it will have to wait until another night.

Love! Order the Ahi tuna stack or Goat cheese appetizer. Great Coconut Cloud Martinis. Also save room for desserts because they are Unbelievable!!!!!! Live music in the bar most nights. Vacation feel.

Great dinner with feisty kids. We ate near the back side door, so the kids could run outside on the grass for a bit. Def kid friendly. Wonderful selection for them. Very pleased as a parent. Got blackened fish tacos. Parents got steak salad and macadamia crusted fish. All superb. Delicious and well presented. One happy mom!

Went here for lunch the first day of vacation...fairly unremarkable menu, presentation, and quality. I think people think high prices equate to great food and reasonable prices buy you mediocre food...certainly not to case at the beach...go for wind beaten dives, they are not covering frozen food with update decorating. Better yet go to Shrimpers or Sexton for fresh seafood and cook at home, sparing yourself long waits, poor service, and unskilled cooking.

Every time we come to Sandestin, this is one of our must stops. I actually make reservations once I know the dates of our trip. I have always been a big fan of Tommy Bahama's clothing and beach gear, and the restaurant does not disappoint. The service we have had, at times, has been a bit spotty - in both cases the server got busy with a large party, but to me that's it no excuse. The food, well everything we have had was delicious. The tuna tacos, the coconut crusted crab cakes, the crab bisque, the jerk chicken tacos, the seared ahi, the coffee crusted ribeye, and the macadamia nut encrusted snapper, all are delicious. The spiked guacamole was tasty, but over-priced and not all that spectacular. I am longing for our trip back next year, when we will dine here again!

Delicious! We were afraid this would be too theme-y and cheesy, but everything was terrific! We had sealed scallop sliders for an appetizer and they were incredible. The fish tacos were the best we've had anywhere, and the prices were good, considering it's a very nice restaurant! The staff from the bartender to waiter to manager were all friendly and all ensured we had a great dinner. Would definitely go back and recommend!

I have eaten at many of the Tommy Bahama restaurants around the country, and always leave very satisfied. Usually I go for dinner, and I always get the Kona crusted Ribeye which is one of the best steaks I have ever had. Today I went to Tommy Bahama for lunch, and was very impressed as well with their lunch menu. Yes, they had the ribeye for lunch, but I opted for something a little lighter. The crispy fish sandwich, which was spectacular. Huge piece of perfectly cooked fish. Also had the chicken tortilla soup which was so good I could have eaten a second bowl. The service was top notch. It was a thouroghly enjoyable lunch.

Everything we had was so unique and delicious. The environment was festive and fun while also feeling upscale and cozy. The prices are understandable based on the quality of this food and its presentation!

Really good food, but the drinks were the star of the show. Hands down, best mojito I've had. Wife had a cantaloupe-watermelon concoction that was really good. The bartender said he couldn't make a Hemmingway, but another bartender showed up with one 10 minutes later, apologizing. We had a coconut goat cheese appetizer on a mango salsa that was really good. I had coconut crusted crab cakes on a sweet Thai chili sauce that was amazing. Had an almond rice and sautéed asparagus that complimented well. My wife tried a new dish, a cedar plan smoked salmon topped with grilled peaches. My meal was better, but the salmon was good. Dessert was great. Kids split a sundae while my wife and I split the awesome signature pineapple coconut cake. Although it's a chain (albeit a small franchise), this was a fantastic dining experience. A bit loud, but well worth it. Shorts and flip flops are ok.

Aside from very slow service, we were quite impressed with this place. The ambiance is great and our server was very nice although she would disappear for long periods of time and we ended up just cancelling our appetizer order since our soups and salads came out after 30 minutes and we still hadn't received the apps. The highlight of our evening was the Chocolate Malted Pie. Seriously the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Absolutely amazing and big enough for the whole table to share. I'm sure we will return again when we visit Destin.

We have always enjoyed dining here and the food is delicious. This particular time I was with a party of eight and we were laughing at a joke with the waitress. The GM (Mario Mardones) came over and very rudely asked us to be quiet in an environment that was very loud with a bar and live music. We and our friends frequent here often and will not be back due to the way the GM handled this situation. Your loss Tommy Bahama.... BTW- the waitress Debbie is amazing!

Well, as a long time fan of Tommy Bahama men's clothing, I was pre-sold on this place after reading a few accolades about their fish tacos (which were quite good), but thats where the party ends. We went on a slow Monday night, greeted at the door with "There will be an hour wait." I looked at the girl, looked in the restaurant, nodded my head as she said she'd call us when our table was ready. While my party went outside to scope out other options for dinner, I walked through a half empty restaurant of table after table sitting empty waiting for patrons. By they time I had made a full lap and arrived back at the hostess stand, apparently we had already been paged to alert us our table was ready. Now I'm trudging back through this black hole of a poorly island themed bistro, and we are seated in a booth with hard benches for seats. Not to complain our ultra-snooty Ms. Know-It-All waitress comes out to explain to us that we have just made the best decision possible for dinner tonite, and that we are in for a once in a lifetime experience. Then she leaves without taking our drink order. By the time she came back we had already memorized the menu, had many questions but needed drinks more so we elected to hazard a round of drinks that in hindsight I must give our waitress kudos for not screwing up. The menu looked fairly appetizing, some Caribbean styled flair, thank god... no chicken wings or sliders. I asked the server about options for salad dressing since I didn't want lemon vinaigrette. She rattled off a few unknown options for me and finished with cumquat vinaigrette. I asked her to repeat that and I got the same answer.....cumquat vinaigrette. Holey hell what is wrong with this place??? We all ordered tacos and my mom who was having difficulty with the menu finally settled on a tame looking "chicken pasta",,,this was followed by some dialogue with the waitress about wasabi peas and habanero peppers they wanted to douse her food in. Mom passed on the peas but relented under the pressure of hot peppers she knew the rest of us loved. Soon my salad arrived, a simple $8 bed of greens (no tomatoes, no nothing....just lettuce) and what I would measure to be about a tablespoon of their famous cumquat vinaigrette in one of those little things they serve drawn butter in. I poured it on and it has the consistency of water, and it tasted like cumquat flavored water. I was not pleased. Soon our waitress was looking distraught, so we just ordered and kept our heads down to avoid eye contact with her any further. Our food arrives in a reasonable time....pork, chicken, and fish tacos....and one plate of some sort of alien chicken pasta that we had been warned would be "very hot." For starters, the chicken wasn't even seasoned, I don't know where the heat was supposed to come from, maybe she intuited my mom was carrying a bottle of Dave's Insanity in her purse. The chicken was served on a bed of macaroni. You still with me.....yes, it was macaroni, and it was dry.....no sauce with this dish whatsoever, just a piece of grilled unseasoned chicken, and a bowl of dry tasteless macaroni. I called the waitress over to complain, and she stood like a Nazi stormtrooper while advising me "Well, that IS supposed to be a shrimp dish." As if that would have mattered, any of you ever heard of Shrimp Macaroni ala Dry as Hell? So she explained finally they would put a "sauce" in the dish (which they didn't) and then the manager arrived a few minutes later with the same dish on a refire. THEN, he stood over my mother demanding she tell him that the dish was suitable and refused to leave until she did. Well guess what, it was still terrible, still dry as hell, and still had no sauce on the thing. Now, I'm about to elbow this guy in the balls because he's pissing me off so bad, finally my mom just says "No, you can have this back." In all honesty it was the worst "chicken pasta" dish I have ever seen, I mean seriously who would pair macaroni with shrimp/chicken and dare to charge $20 for that crap? On the plus side my fish tacos were amazing. However, I was ready to leave as soon as being seated by the manager when he looked at my shirt an inquired "A Tommy?" I said Yes, and he proceeded to tell me that he gets all his shirts for "free", and that my shirt must have been at least 10 years old and that he just gives all his old shirts to the Mexicans in the kitchen. There was a time I would have just mopped the floor with the guy, but tonight I've got my mom and my daughter who is carrying her first child, so it wasn't time appropriate to beat the crap out of this moron, even though he deserved it....so I'm doing this, the only thing I can do to get back at this ultra-pretentious taco factory. Wholeheartedly not recommended. Here's my advice if you are thinking about eating here.....go straight to the bar, order a beer and fish tacos, then with the money you save stroll on over to their store and buy a shirt. Save your money.

Came to Tommy Bahamas based on the yelp reviews from previous diners. I am here to say that this place is all it is cracked up to be and more. First let's talk about the cocktails, my wife had the grapefruit basil martini and I had the pineapple mojito. Needless to say we both ordered several and it was well worth the cost. Now let's talk about the services. Marlene was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She had perfect suggestions, knew the menu like the back of her hand and checked in ever step of the way. Honestly the best server I have ever encountered. Lastly, let's talk food. We started with the crab bisque, which was to die for! Creamy and not too crabby, I could eat this soup every single day. As we waited for our entrees the chef sent out watermelon with a bit of chopped basil and a balsamic glaze just to refresh the palate, a very nice touch. Our entrees simply a a continuation of the amazing experience that we started. My wife had an almond crusted red snapper and I ordered the Thai shrimp and scallops, perfectly prepared and amazing is how I will describe both dishes. I was not a fan of Tommy Bahama clothing and never knew he had a restaurant before today. I am now a loyal customer and anxiously await the opening of their location in North Texas.

They ran out of guacamole today, probably because of the big hit last night. The bread was the best bread I have ever tasted in my life. And it was fresh out of the oven. Parmesan crusted sanibel chicken was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! The hot dogs were nice and juicy (kids menu). And when my daughter ordered the hot dog, there was a very delicate, detailed umbrella pushed into it. And, not to mention, the service was excellent. This restaurant definitely deserves a 5 star rating.

This is one of our family's absolute favorite restaurants in the Destin area. I love the fish tacos and my wife loves the Ahi Tuna tacos. My wife, who usually doesn't indulge in chocolate, can't resist the malted chocolate pie. I love the crime brûlée, which is beautifully plated inside a pineapple shell so there's a hint of tropical in this decadent French dessert. But start your meal off with their tangy macadamia nut encrusted goat cheese appetizer. The food was matched by the wonderful staff, full of Southern hospitality. Kaylen was our server and she attended to everything for us, from giving us excellent menu recommendations to always being there whenever we needed our drinks topped off. We can't wait to go back again! See you soon!

This is actually my third time eating here, but I felt compelled to write a review today. We came in about 3pm during Mother's Day and was seated promptly by our friendly hostess, Cassy. Our waitress, Gail, was very friendly and offered us a variety of beverages. I had a very tasty Arnold Palmer and I tasted a nice tangy strawberry lemonade. The appetizers came out very quickly and our entrees right on time after. I had the fish and chips, wonderfully served with yucca fries instead of the standard faire of potato fries. I got a taste of shrimp and grits, perfectly cooked. The managers, Beth and Mario, both came by to check on us and were very friendly! Love this place. Would come back again.

I am a Tommy Bahamas freak, sad but true. Some people are Disney freaks, and its all things Disney, I am all things "Tommy", once I learned you can eat at this Sandestin Fl. Tommy Bahama, I ensconced myself in Tommy flip flops, Tommy watch and Tommy polo and head out for Tommy food! The Ambiance is Tom-Terrific, a beautiful layout dark tones in the bar with a Caribbean Colonial look. The server "Gail" did a great job and made wonderful suggestions. Tommy-Cuisine also falls under two Tom Thumbs up. We had the Grapefruit Basil Martini, most excellent, the Ahi Poke, and the Tom-Tom-Tastic macadamia nut crusted goat cheese. For the entree, Fish Taco's and Jerk Chicken Taco's. these Mexican delights, we're my Caribbean sunshine. I kinda think the Jerk Chicken was a better offer. The steel drum music tied the evening all together, the culmination of all four caused me to go into a Tommy Bahama wallet melt. I felt like though that the prices in the restaurant were commensurate with the neighboring restaurants.

Good food, service and prices... I've never had a bad meal here and if ever there has been a problem they go above and beyond to make it right. The Bungalow Salad is the best salad I've ever had in my life, that may be sad but oh so true and I'm in love with the butter that comes with the complimentary bread-ask for extra they will not give you enough.

Came here for lunch and it was super! Hot right in, sat us in the sun room. Very nice atmosphere. We ordered the spiked guacamole for an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. A bit much, cost wise ($10) but it was yummy. We got the jerk chicken tacos (a bit spicy) and the fish tacos. Wow. Very VERY good. The plantain side that comes with the fish tacos, we would order as a side on its own. So good! Our waitress was Abby and she was so great. Attentive, helpful (it was our first TB visit) and boy was she on it! Taking our plates away and filling our drinks. We had a great experience and would certainly come back on next years vacation!

After my last salty review (and seeing that the management obviously cares about this restaurant's reputation) I went back recently with my family. I didn't contact management or get anything free- I just thought I should try it out again. My first (bad) review was posted recently however it was from a visit over a year ago. My dinner most recently was a very different experience and I'm glad I gave it another shot. Drinks were good, the crispy fish sandwich was HUGE and very light & crispy as it name promises. Our waitress Courtney and the manager (spencer?) we're very nice and service was great.

We made our reservation through Yelp about two hours ahead of time. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated immediately and politely. Server was very knowledgable about the menu and his recommendations were spot on. I had the blood orange margarita. I was surprised it was served in a rocks glass and not a margarita glass. Wish it had a blood orange garnish instead of a regular orange. A little too sour for me. We were recommended the Ahi Tuna Tacos for our appetizer. They were FABULOUS!!! I would come back just for those alone! Plus, the fresh bread they brought was perfect. Hot, crispy crust you only get from truly fresh baked bread. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Shrimp with was beautiful. The spice palate definitely was Caribbean. Everything seasoned perfectly. My shrimp was overcooked but the crab stuffing totally made up for it. I was hesitant about the almond rice but it was awesome! My spouse got the Sanibel Chicken. It was awesome as well. Seasoned well. Fabulous sauce. Beautiful presentation. We took our dessert, the full size chocolate cake, to go. AMAZING! I love that they come in two sizes and are displayed at the door. Beautiful plating, very enticing. The bar was beautiful and the ambiance perfect for our date night. All in all, great, perfectly-timed service. Meal lasted an hour and we never felt rushed. Hats off to Executive Chef Crystal Castillo! Thanks for being bold enough to remove the salt and pepper from the tables. As a resort cook and culinary intern, it annoys and insults me when people season their food without tasting it first.

I find myself in Sandestin quite a bit and usually stop in here at least once for the fish tacos. I enjoy them and the plantains. This time I also had the key lime pie which was very good.

We come here every year while in destin. It has been hit or miss every time. Last night 2 of our party had the crab cakes that were both cold. Everyone else's dinner was fine. It's always overpriced. The service has always been good. We come back for the butterscotch pudding. Everyone seems to love it. I had the Pena colada cake (it was good). We will continue to come back until the pudding falls off the menu. I would be fine with just coming for dessert and going elsewhere for dinner. That being said, my sister in law loves the place including dinner. I expect we will keep coming and ill pick some where else when it's my turn to pick.

For Administrative Professionals Day, so I took my wonderful Rulnick Realty administrators to lunch. We decided on Tommy Bahama's restaurant in Grand Boulevard in Sandestin Florida, since it was on the way to our new listing in Holiday Shores. The ambience at Tommy Bahama's is what I call "plush". Throw pillows, dark wood, rattan, and paddle fans make it feel like a rich Caribbean vacation. The food is what I call "sumptuous". We started with the Big Island Goat Cheese as an appetizer. It was a cone-shaped pile of crumbly goodness, glazed with soy and covered in macadamia nut crumbles. The cheese came with some of the most delicious, crispy flatbread I ever had. (If no one was looking, I could have eaten it all). For lunch, we had the Chicken Salad Junkanoo (which means music parade in the Bahamas), and a Caesar Salad. The Chicken Salad had sweet papaya, pineapple and grape garnishes. The Caesar had two whole chicken breast fillets and un-torn lettuce with a wonderful garlicky dressing. Since our lunch was delayed coming out, the Tommy Bahama's restaurant manager kindly offered us free desserts. They were too huge to eat alone, so we got half-size (still huge) Pina Colada and Triple Chocolate Cakes. It's always a pleasure going to Grand Boulevard in Sandestin Florida, with its shopping and dining option (Mitchell's Fish Market, Cafe Laredo, PF Chang's, Fleming's). You don't have to drive deep into Sandestin, but just hop off Highway 98 to 525 Grand Boulevard. I am glad we parked a distance to walk off the great lunch we had at Tommy Bahama's!

Family went here for vacation our first night. The food was fantastic. I had a crispy fish sand which with caramelized onions, island tartar sauce, which was the best tartar sauce I ever had, and French fries. Both my sister and mom had fish tacos which was also amazing. My dad had a Cuban sandwich and he said it was amazing. The service was good, except when waiting to be seated. The host didn't seem to know we were waiting after a while. Our waitress was really nice, and I asked her a question about the tea I had and she did a very good job of answering. The atmosphere is very nice with a Bahama beach shack setting. The staff was wearing Hawaiian shirts which was a nice feature to the restaurant. All in all a nice restaurant that I recommend people to try when down here.

Happy hour seems to be a good deal. Liked the Tuna Poke. Fish tacos had a little too much sour cream in them but the fish itself was good.

My husband and I recently visited this restaurant on our brief vacation celebrating our anniversary. We used the OpenTable app to secure our reservation for 7:15 that evening. We only had to wait less than 10 minutes when we got there versus the 45 minute wait for those who didn't have reservations. Our waitress was Beth, she knows the menu like the back of her hand and is a joy to talk to. I had the lump blue crab and avocado salad, I loved the lime caper vinaigrette on it. I also had a margarita , which they make the mix from scratch, it was pretty good and sour. We met the manager a few times during our meal and he is very kind! Even comped a dessert for us since it's our anniversary. The pineapple cake is to die for! We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant in the future, hopefully Beth will be our waitress again!

Our anniversary dinner. Marsha was our server. What a fun person she is, and her recommendations were steller. Best food and drinks in years. Truly! They gave us a great table and Marsha saw to our every need so perfectly. The establishment is so well managed and it shows in every detail. Someone at the top here really does care. You do not find this kind of care anywhere these days. We had so much fun. It's going to be hard to go anywhere else. Can't wait to try the lunch!! As good as the very best, and way better than the rest.

Still my top choice when visiting Sandestin and my go-to place when I want to have an awesome meal in Walton County. They never cease to impress and last weekend was no exception. They arranged a great prix fixe menu for our party of 16 or so and despite the variety of dinner entrees we all ordered the fresh catch. I have no idea what it was, but it was good. Like, mmm, mmm, good! Table service is fabulous and the management couldn't have been more accommodating. See you next time!

PROS: Great happy hour. Smells awesome in there. Staff was outstanding. Will return for happy hour again. Had a realllllly great red wine of the happy hr menu. The sliders were really juicy. They turn the lights down in the bar in the evening and it is a nice place to relax for a drink. Cons: Older crowd. Wearing lots of Tommy Bahama. Not kidding.

Service and quality of food were both as expected for price point. We sat in a booth in the bar area as rest of restaurant was somewhat empty. Ribs, crab bisque and snapper - and pineapple creme brûlée were all tasty.

Its nice going to a restaurant where you are not hurried and you get to enjoy the full experience from the first drink at the bar, where the bartender was more than accommodating and was able to transfer or tab to our server Mark. Mark took great care of us from the fresh bread to the two great apps and then on to the main course all timed perfectly. Great desserts and coffee. Mark was there when we needed him and away when we didn't no hovering just great table service. Thanks Mark for another great experience at Tommy Bahamas!

Tacos and the kid's steak were good. Barbecue sandwich was so sweet it was inedible. I did not eat it. When I brought it up to the manager he really did not care and seemed to blame it on my unrefined palate. He said everyone loved it and it was made in banana leaves. What kind of oaf would not like that? And did not take it off the bill.

We were at Tommy Bahamas four times. Twice for happy hour---it was great. Once for lunch---also great. Once for dinner--- not so great. I had the shrimp pasta. It had three pieces of shrimp and was over spiced. I did not enjoy it at all and it was pricey for what it was. I won't go for dinner again but do enjoy the happy hour. Pork quesadillas are delicious. The coconut cake is also wonderful.

We are frequent visitors to Tommy's, and the place delivers without fail. Mike and Patrick are stand out bartenders, and can work the well with the best of them. The food is excellent, and the happy hour prices are the best in town. if you are visiting the area, I would highly recommend Tommy Bahama's.

Came in for a family dinner and it was worth every minute! Also, it was Friday night and they have "special treat" for Fridays only with certain passwords. If you subscribe to their FB page then every Friday, they will post it there. Enjoy and relax!

Staff was VERY friendly but food was subpar.... Our table included three adults and two children. I had a sirloin, my husband, the lobster bisque and my mother had the grouper sandwich. My children both had a hotdog. There was nothing to complain about specifically but the fact that our check was over $160, we were not impressed. I have had amazing meals for half the price! We tried to make it not a total loss and ordered a slice of cake and added a scoop of ice cream.... It was good but not worth $19! For a slice of chocolate cake!

All the food we ate here was very good, albeit pricy. The chicken and mango salad was delicious, as was the hawaiian burger and chicken sandwich. Creme brûlée was a yummy conclusion to our meal.

We were reluctant to visit (the name turned us off, not a fan of tommy bahama clothing) but this place is great! Quality food carefully prepared, great cocktails, good kid options, nice outdoor area, great waitstaff.

Food is good, but service is atrocious! I don't mind paying mandatory 18-percent tip when with a large party, just not when the service only warrants 10-percent. Had a reservation but food didn't arrive for party of 9 for 65 minutes after we were seated. Checks didn't arrive until 45 minutes after that. Extremely disappointed with this visit.

I have mixed thoughts on Tommy's restaurant. The positives: The jerk pork dish was outstanding and they had a good selection of draft beer, which has been surprisingly difficult to find in Destin. They also delivered some pretty good bread with the meal. I thought my wife's chicken dish was average. It was somewhat disappointing because they had ran out of the BBQ Pork sandwich. The dessert was surprisingly average. The biggest downside was the total price, it was in line with the higher end steakhouses in Atlanta and just not quite that good. We were at $95 for two people with no appetizers or salads.

I was in Sandestin for a work convention at the Grand Sandestin by The Village Baytowne Wharf. It's a cute area where food and drinks are a quick walk away. Unfortunately after trying more than 5 restaurants on the property I always walked away unsatisfied. A friend had suggested we try Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar which is accessible from the property without having to get on Hwy 98. From the moment we walked in the door the place felt refreshing. The island feel, the furniture and fixtures and the steel drum player put me at ease after a very hot and long day on the golf course. I had made a 7:30 p.m. reservation via Yelp and arrived about 20 minutes early. They had my reservation and said it would be about 15-20 minutes. That was understandable. The bar was busy but we managed to claim some bar stools. We ordered some delicious skinny Margaritas. All fresh ingredients really make a difference. We spoke to a couple at the bar who said they like to come during "Island Time". We determined it's their version of "happy hour". Discounted food and drinks. We had just missed it. Our flashing coaster went off after about 15 minutes so we moved to our table. It was a nice booth with throw pillows though we couldn't decide where they could be placed for maximum comfort. I have forgotten our server's name and I wish I hadn't. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered a nice bottle of chardonnay since we figured fish would be the best bet on the menu. To start we had the macadamia nut encrusted goat cheese. So good. The sweet mango salsa complimented it nicely. I will definitely order it again if I ever get back. For the main course I had crab stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. It was a good sized serving and very tasty. A friend at the table ordered the fish tacos. I had a couple of bites and all I could say was, "YUM". Next time I go you better bet I'm getting those. Overall it was a very nice meal and I loved the laid back island feel of the place.

Met some friends for lunch here. Food and service was good, but you're paying for the Tommy Bahama name. I've had better meals for half the price...lunch for 4 was $96! I must say portions were a good size, so that helped, but I probably won't return.

Came in for a nice lunch date with my husband and we were both immediately impressed with the atmosphere. The service was great, very friendly and inviting. Our food took a little longer than normal to arrive and the head chef personally came out and brought our food. And it was worth the wait. Everything melted in your mouth and was wonderful. Yes the prices are a bit high but it is worth every penny. We will be coming again.

I have eaten here twice, most recently 30 July 2011. This is absolutely a fantastic restaurant. Best service, best food, and best atmosphere I have ever had. Being an avid traveler I have eaten at restaurants around the country (and world) and this restaurant ranks in the very top. I have had the ribs and steak with chimichurri. Both were fantastic, perfectly cooked, and the best I have ever had in their respective dish categories. Go to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. My compliments to the owner, manager, chef, and staff. Pat

My family and I ate dinner here on a Friday night- our last night in Destin- only because the wait at the waterfront restaurants was 2+ hours. The food was decent but nothing memorable- made me think of a Mitchell's Fish Market with island -themed decor. I had the Cajun sandwich as did my father-in-law; it was nothing outstanding and similar to Cajun sandwiches I've had at other restaurants back home in Indiana. Husband had the fish Reuben and said it was very good. Mother-in-law had a salad, and my 10-yr old niece had a cheeseburger. Not an overly kids-friendly menu on that note. Overall- a nice place to eat but if you're looking for the Florida seafood experience this is definitely not the place to go.

7 word review... Casual Bahama atmosphere, good not great food. Detailed review... We tried them for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. A very nice, tropical feel to the place all the way down to the palm frond fans and wicker furniture. The bar looked very inviting, like a good place to stop in for a cold beer or rum drink after a day on the beach. :) My wife ordered their special -grilled chicken with a blueberry reduction sauce. It came with a combination crab cake & potato fritter and sauteed garlic spinach. I ordered a couple of appetizers. Warm gruyere with flatbread and chicken tortilla soup. While we were waiting they served us some fresh bread with a cinnamon compound butter. Everything was good but not great. We tried the key lime pie for dessert. Not bad; we both agreed it was better than the Donut Hole's. Bottom line: If you are looking for a comfortable, laid back, lunch or dinner option, give them a try. We haven't tried happy hour but it probably would be a nice place to sit and relax if you want to get out of the heat and have a couple of drinks. Cheers!

DO NOT discount this place as another one of those brand-name does food type chains. This is not Margaritaville. I usually wouldn't review a chain restaurant, but this place warrants exception. First off, there's a great vibe. Large bench booths filled with soft beach-tone pillows, open air seating, bambo accents. Its straight out of Coastal Living. Large oak bar with a simple guitar player in the corner strumming some well-known tunes, but also good background. None of this cheezy palm tree stuff with layers of sugar on the table from spilled pina coladas. The food has this whole pacific rim vibe going on, which is very welcomed in the area. So many places just do some a Cajun/tropical hybrid with all their seafood. The scallop sliders are a fabulous appetizer. Also great, original cocktails. Give this place a try and see for yourself.

I absolutely love this restaurant!! Not going to lie, when I visit the Destin area I have my top places I always visit and usually do not branch out, but after visiting this place I will now make this a regular!!!! For starters I had the Ahi Tuna Tacos and let me tell you they were delicious!! Fresh and seasoned to my liking!! For my entree I had the fish sandwich which was served on great toasted bread!!! My family had the grouper fish tacos and they were delectable! Also, the chicken quesadillas are great they come with a huge portion! They have a great selection and quality of food! I will be back for more!!!! Also the coconut martini is yum!

My wife and I have been frequent visitors to the Destin area for many years where we do enjoy the better restaurants. Honestly, we had totally overlooked this incredible restaurant thinking that it was one of those theme restaurants... Boy were we wrong. This restaurant has THE BEST bar area of any top restaurant in the Destin area; it was cozy, roomy, beautiful and best of all, somewhat separated from the restaurant area. Appetizer and drink specials from 4-7 pm make this a wonderful place to gather early for a cocktail. Loved the fish tacos! The main dining area is also excellent with comfortable seating in either table or booths. Food is superb and the desserts yummy. Service could not be better. We left at the end of the evening planning our next visit. When in the Sandestin area this is a must-visit restaurant. See you there!!!

The food was outstanding.....the service was awful!! We had lunch there on Saturday. The restaurant was only 70% full yet we had to wait a long time to be seated. We ordered the scallop sliders for our appetizer, they were outstanding but they didn't arrive until25 minutes after we ordered . It also took 15 minutes just to get bread and butter. Then the entrees arrived 1 minute after the apps. We had a Kobe burger and a Cuban sandwich and both were awesome. Our server was clueless and also brought the wrong food to four people seated next to us. It then took me almost a half our to get the check. It is a pity that they struggle with service because the food is A +++

I wored in the area, and eat here a bit, and its usually quite good. The restaurant is nicely laid out, and the bar is really nice. I just think that the food can be inconsistent depending on the day. It also seems like the staff really takes care of the older people (normally dressed in Tommy Bahama, and look like they have money), and seem to ignore the younger crowd, or those who stop in for happy hour, and treat you more as a pain than patron.

Normally one of our favorite restaurants in Destin, but this time we were very disappointed with the service. First, the music was so loud when we entered the restaurant, that the receptionist could not be heard and she could not hear us. Although it was lunchtime and there were many open tables, we had to wait for 30 minutes in the very loud bar. Then the waiter tried to seat us in a booth two feet from we had been sitting in the bar. It had been open the entire time we had waited. When I mention to the waiter that we had requested to be seated outside and had no desire to sit in the bar, he advised that if he put us outside and we were not happy, he would NOT move us back in. Since more than two-thirds of the tables in the restaurant we're open, this came across very negatively. The perception was, that he was not there to provide us with service, but there to make him happy. Additionally sitting at the bar, I ordered a Lynchburg Lemonade, which was either not understood, or the bartender did not know how to make it, because he brought me a regulsr lemonade. I had to explain what a Lynchburg lemonade was and he kindly made one. I attribute the disconnects and communication to the loud music and a few wait staff that aren't very customer oriented. Our meal was very good and the waitress (who could hear us outside because there was no blaring music) was exceptional. Probably won't go back for a long time.

My favorite place to eat in Destin. The decor is very island-ish without being cheesy. They are located in Grand Boulevard which is new shopping extension of the Sandestin Resort. Prices are along the line of a nice steakhouse. The Sanibel Stuffed Chicken (on the dinner menu) is what I get every time that I go. They also serve up some excellent island drinks. Service is usually great.

The food here was so pretty! My meal came with a beautiful flower on it, which I found to be pretty cool because like a small child I am easily swayed with decorations. It was expensive. Really expensive. The menu was pretty weak- they didn't have a lot of choices, but everything they served seemed to be very tasty. And so pretty!

  • H C.

The restaurant was in a very nice setting, we had to ask to be moved to a different table because initially they seated us by the door...even though the restaurant was not anywhere close to packed. We were also asked if we had reservations...I think they're trying to be more than they are. Food was ok, nothing to write home about and way overpriced for what we got. Being from Dallas I think we are also spoiled by our restaurants back home so take my review with a grain of salt.

We ate lunch here and our food was fantastic. Our waiter was great. My soft plantains and fish tacos were both a delicious change of pace from the usual island atmosphere restaurants. My husband could barely put his burger down. The only drawback to this place was the hard bench seats but even that was countered by the pillows provided.

Great atmosphere. Very reasonable Florida pricing. Watch the kid menu, no price listed. Two of my kids ended up costing more than mine. Fish tacos are GREAT! Fish sandwich excellent. Kids cleaned their steak medallions. Service tonight was a little slow, but my waiter was busy with a party of 20 at the next table. Oh, bread was wonderful.

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. The restaurant makes you feel like you're in an upscale beach home in Key West. Service was great too - fast and thorough. Probably not a good place for children. Better for couples and adult groups. All three of us got the crab stuffed shrimp, which was excellent.

We got there late because of traffic and staff pushed our time back with no problems.Once we got there table was ready for us.They had live steel drums being played in the background for that great island atmosphere. The wait staff was very good. The food was great.Overall great experience.

My husband and I were in Sandestin for several days and we ate here twice. It was so good. We were shopping at Tommy Bahamas and decided to give the restaurant a try. Glad we did! We sat at the bar I had a grapefruit martini and my husband had a beer. The bartenders were very friendly. We ordered the crab cakes appetizer and split it and we ordered the fish tacos entree and split it. It was GREAT! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Sandestin.

The family and I did a walk-in here on a Saturday evening. No wait, but had to take a table in the bar area next to the live music. Didn't mind because the guitar players were really good. A little pricey for a family of 5 but the food and service made it worth it. I had one of the best tuna steaks I'd ever had. We each got something a little different and shared.

Atmosphere: Upscale, but comfy. Island theme. Service: 5 stars. We were in a rush to make it for a show and our server made sure we left out on time. She was very courteous and gave us honest and complete opinions. Demographics: Great for couples. Good for families. Food: Texture, flavor, and presentation is top notch. EVERYTHING tasted excellent, even the children's food was perfect. We know this because each one of us was so amazed by the taste of our food, we had to try each other's as well. We were astonished to find that everything, right down to the drinks, tasted immaculate and delicious! Price: $$$ Very pricey. Average entree is around $30. However, it is well worth the price. This is now our favorite special occasion restaurant.

Just had dinner at Tommy Bahamas. Food was great. But one of our party received their dinner and the remaining four waited another 20 min for our meal. The manager came to speak with us and handled the situation very professionally. The compensation he offered was beyond expectations. We will definitely return. The food is great, nice atmosphere and the management wants their customers to be happy.

Went to dinner on a Thursday night. We had to wait for a table because we didn't have a reservation. We started with the goat cheese crusted with macadiama nuts and it was unbelievable! The soft plantains with coconut, pineapple yogurt were also amazing. All around fantastic dinner!!!

A solid restaurant all the way around. Upscale, yet casual. Great drink list. Solid appetizers. Tasty entrees. Very satisfying. A bit pricey, but better than most of the other restaurants in the area that we have tried so far. We will be back for sure. I give it five stars compared to the competition in the area.

We ate here during our last evening in Destin. I was a little weary because I thought it was going to be super expensive without the great food to back it up. Well, it wasn't super expensive, although it could have been had we ordered apps, alcohol, and dessert. I ordered a fish sandwich. I can't remember what kind of fish it was, but it was so good and flaky. And a huge portion! The kids ordered off the kids' menu, which was a little more pricey than say Applebees or TGIF's, but this is neither one of those restaurants so maybe not a fair comparison. The kids loved their entrees. I can't remember what my DH ordered, but he finished it and there was no evidence that anything was ever on that plate. Oh, almost forgot to mention the bread. OMG!!!!!! So good. warm, soft, fresh bread with a soft whipped butter made with honey, ginger, and cinnamon. We got an extra serving, maybe that's why no room for dessert. I wish I remembered our server's name because she was very good, knew the menu, and was very professional. Good service and good food is a recipe for success! This restaurant is on my "must dine while in Destin" list.

LOL. "Really Expensive" says the poor girl from Oklahoma. It is priced just the same if not less than other places in SanDestin. I love it there. The happy hour has some great food. I get the fish tacos. They have a bunch of fruity drinks, but I almost always get the beer they make.

  • Sue C.

Sadly, our favorite restaurant was a big disappointment on our recent vacation. They only offer one menu now for both lunch and dinner and the daily special was a "leftover" from the day before due to it's unpopularity (according to the waiter). The kids meals were $15 each and included 1oz of meat and potato. Service was horrible. Our waiter did not bring us a bread basket even after reminding him twice while other tables received theirs. Our drinks were ordered before appetizers and arrived 3/4 of the way through dinner. He'd say " oops I forgot about you again". He would be gone for extended periods of time and then report back to us about problems in the kitchen. The food was good, portion sizes were small.

Went for happy hour. Bar staff super friendly, the appetizers on happy hour were super tasty. Drinks vary from almost cheap to moderate in price then, fun atmosphere. Staff behind the bar prides themselves on dialogue with patrons and treating people as they would like to be treated.

  • John S.

The food was good and service was good but overpriced. I got the crispy fish sandwich, which was very good and was served with fries. I would not recommend it for a family.

This place is AWESOME. We usually go twice during our weeklong trips to Destin. The coconut shrimp are amazing. I think the cheeseburgers are amazing, along with the pork sandwich, This is also kid friendly while having a beautiful dining experience.
