High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

New to the area, and really close to my house, so that is nice. Service was oddly slow in some ways, and super fast in others. For example, we were seated immediately upon hitting the door. However, our server was long in showing up, and so were our drinks. And it was a while before she came back to take our order. Then the food came out lightning fast. The appetizer plates (which strangely, they brought out regardless of the fact we did not order an appetizer) were dirty. Food was standard Applebee's, at least you know what you are getting there.

Super disappointed this last visit. Drinks not refilled often table not clean and food not great. We both ordered the appetizer sampler with choice of 2 items. The servings were pretty small but I guess okay for appetizers. The problem was the food had little to no taste at all. Really no seasoning on anything and food looked like it was thrown together. Have always had good meals here so will chock this up to a bad night. We will see that next visit is like and decide on future patronage to Applebee's....

Good evening Yelpers. So my daughter and I decided to go out for a late night snack so we chose Applebee's. So, first the customer service. As soon as we came in we were seated. I was very surprised because they were so busy, yes at 10:55pm they were busy. Our waitress name was Katie and as soon as we sat down she came over and took our drink order and was very helpful with letting us know what the two for one specials were. HAPPY!! From 10pm to 2pm they have appetizers for 1/2 price. We ordered the boneless chicken and mozzarella sticks with fries. So, the boneless chicken was over cooked and dried out. The mozzarella sticks were on point! (They were good ), the fires were nice and hot and we'll seasoned. As for my drink I did the two for one Bahama mama and it was watered down. Well, when Katie came to check on us I advised her that the chicken was dry and she took it off the ticket. Because of the chicken being dry I am only giving them a 3. I think that because it is late and they rushed the order out it would not surprise me if the chicken was already sitting there waiting to be served. No bueno. :-(.

Sat here last weekend with an old friend and racked up a $200 bar tab. It was a good time! The bartender was more-than-attentive, and by that, I mean she was making us drinks we didn't even ask for. That's better than sitting around parched, I suppose. Additionally, bartender was friendly, the bar area and bathrooms were clean and everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their food. If I wanted to go out for some drinks again, I'd probably return. Why? Two reasons. The first being my aforementioned observations and experience. The second, and most important, all the other watering holes in the area close between 8 and 10 on Sundays. Yep, Riverview goes hard in the paint!

We eat here frequently the food is pretty standard. The service is great sometimes and other times very slow. It is close to our house and there aren't a lot of options around. They really need to clean a little better. There are dead bugs in the lights hanging over the tables.

Really can't go wrong with Applebee's. They also have fresh new menu options but they still always offer the classic hits. Great prices and delicious food. I ordered the bourbon steak and it was cooked to perfection. Food came out very fast and service was food. And 2 for 1 specials to add to the enjoyment. And the newest thing I love here, is they incorporated the new electronic Presto system. This thing is great. You can order drink refills and appetizers right from your table. As soon as we finished our last bite i swiped the credit card on the presto machine, added a tip, and then we were out of there just like that. No more waiting for your check, waiting for them them return with the credit slip. It really is a great innovation in today's day and age

I really liked the club sandwich I ordered tonight, they prepare it with just a 'drizzle' of their bar-b-q sauce. Always great, no matter what I get. My service was awesome tonight too.

Let's cut to the chase, don't waste your time. I was given dirty dishes twice. Poor service. Long wait only to have cold fries and wrong order. This location is the worst, not worth my time or the calories!

I just had the most disgusting meal of my life. Keep in mind we have been at this Applebee's many time but tonight was our last! I ordered the three cheese chicken penne with NO CHICKEN. When it was brought out there was pieces of chicken on it from where they had picked it off. I sent it back the manager apologized and brought a new one. Fine I started eating and was surprised to find a BALL of HAIR. So yes I started throwing up had to run to the bathroom. This was beyond ridiculous.

Sure nice of the managers taking the time to read this....not! You may want to listen to your customers. Wonder if corporate wants to know. I mean at least come out and tell the customer!!!! So my purpose for this post is not to bash Applebee's but more to hopefully improve them. So after 25 minutes after I was supposed to get my curbside and after no one came to tell me why it was not ready I entered the curbside door. After I was ignored even longer, one of the girls ask if I had been waited on. Once I gave my name she could not locate an order. One of the girls ask if I told them I was driving a white car, which I was not. I requested my tip back and the manager brought it to me and asked me what my problem was. While I was talking to him the girl brought my food but never handed it to me or even told me it was mine. Funny neither did the manager if that is who he really was. I had to ask if it was my food and instead of telling me yes she begun to look through the bag and call out the items. The manager walked away to find out what was going on. I then grabbed the food and left only to realize it was stone cold as if it had been laying around. I guess that's why you are at home and can warm it up. Isn't that why you get it to begin with?Of course no napkins or silverware as requested. Plus no receipt!!! Final comments is I will not go back, as if they care, until there is a change. I suggest the readers do the same!!! I updated my review as the manager took the time to address the issue prior to reading my post. Additionally he gave a full refund. I trust that he also took the steps to ensure the staff follows the proper procedure to put the customer first. Thanks!!

This is always a nice place for casual dining and to take advantage of the 2 for $20 or 2 for $25. This includes a shareable appetizer and two entrees. I always like getting the bourbon chicken and shrimp. In my opinion it's the best choice on the options available on the 2 for $25 menu selection. My meal was delicious as usual. My only pet peeve from today's visit is the server who was assisting my lead server who brought our food out to the table was a person who was not well groomed and had a several missing front teeth. This is not the sight you want to see just before you dive into your meal. I had to erase that image before I could begin eating and enjoying my meal. The meal thought was nice as usual.

My all time fav salad, Oriental Chicken Salad, was lunch today and it is as good as ever and the full serving has been restored to a full serving, thank heaven. But the star today was our server, Taz, and the entire staff for not committing the "Guys" sin. Not once, and we interacted with several of the staff. Hallelujah, it made my day! For their stellar performance this Applebee's earns a spot on my "Wait staff all stars" list.

Had a tough time rating this place. I was teetering between 3/4 but since todays salad was especially good, went with 4. Service is good, beer is cold, food is ok. You can't come to a place like this and expect the best food you ever ate. I do however love their salads, been eating them forever. So 90% of the time I come here, it's for that. Today I had the pecan crusted chicken salad and it was awesome. The chicken was tender & juicy, greens were fresh, and dressing just right. We did the 2 for 1 beer deal that was going on,, not so sure that it was a deal. Size of the glasses were small, I think we would have gotten the same amount in a regular glass of beer,, but it was really cold which was great. Prices are average for this type of place. $10 for a salad (full size). Will be back next time I'm craving a salad !

Yeah.. it was to do an for my meal the 7oz sirloin that was greatly flavored if I added enough Shula's steak sauce .... I didn't know it was more well done than what I asked for....but the sauces did the trick with the great artichoke dip in a port a bellow mushroom cap n a cool flavor taste. Also let's not forget When all mixed in am the juices a very great tasting.. an even better with certain sauce .. Shulas Steak Sauce. Ok, would rank 5...its a hit or miss.... but they have plenty more threat items from burgers...like even the famous in Quesidillia Burger. Sorry for no pictures guys. An I use my own silverware... but that sucks must of been a bad location.

Ordered sliders. Don't do it . 1st the fries came out like after the lunch rush at McDonalds soft and oily loaded with season salt. Sent back not one slider was the same size. Next time something else sorry I did not take a picture.

My father is a WWII Veteran and I took him to Applebee's for Veteran's Day. Applebee's did a fantastic job to honor our Military people who have make huge sacrifices for us. Food was awesome and our waitress Nadine was awesome! Thank you Applebee's!

This place is mediocre at best. The appetizers are good, and half price after are nice. Their beer pretzel things are good but aren't really pretzely. The entrees are semi decent and way overpriced. Two for one drinks are nice but between two drinks you're essentially getting the booze you would get from one normal drink. They have two for one long island iced teas that are insanely weak. The black and blue burger was gross. The blue cheese looked like at moldy cheese. I would stay away from anything with blue cheese at this place. I don't know how anybody could eat that.

This is our local Applebee's. We go in once every few months. They seem to always be busy but not crowded. The service is good nothing special but it's good. The food is pretty good. What you would expect from Applebee's. The restaurant is pretty clean at first glace. However, don't look on the floor between the booths and the wall. The windows are not very clean either. Yuck. I do love how the kitchen split up the kids' plate for us. We ordered an entree for them to share. The kitchen made it into two plates so the kids each got their own. They also brought out a dessert for each boy so they didn't have to share one.

My parents come from Orlando and like this Applebee's much better than the one over there. I've never been to the one by them but we've gone to this one several times. I love the chicken wonton tacos, always good. One time I sat at the bar and ordered a mini sundae dessert but by the time it for to me it was like chocolate milk. The bartender got me a fresh one right away

Stopped by this location on a usual Saturday afternoon to have some drinks with some friends/co-workers and kill some time before an event we were attending nearby. Overall the place was hopping, which may have had something to do with a high school close by having their Homecoming dance that same night. We sat at one of the tables by the bar and our server seemed to be absent at first, but as we filled our area she came back more often to see if anyone needed any refills or get orders for more people who joined us. I can't speak for the food, but the bar area had plenty of TV's going with all of the college games on at the time and the overall atmosphere was upbeat.

  • Nick C.

Mixed feelings about this place. The atmosphere is ok, typical casual dining restaurant. The bartenders are not very friendly overall unless you're one of the regulars. Food is decent (like the healthy choices they have now). It does however, have 2 for 1 drinks all day every day but they are overpriced so it's kind of a wash. Packed on Fri & Sat nights bc there are few restaurants in Riverview.

It's my first time, and boy do I love this place! It's so "neighborhoody" and the ads are right! The place at night is like a classier restaurant combined with a bar at the center. It'll be great to watch games in here. The waitresses/staff are warm & friendly! The food was really good, I was expecting it would be like Denny's or Ruby Tuesday's but they are as good as the Cheesecake Factory! I saw their new ad for Shrimp Scampi Linguini on TV- I'm glad I ordered it, the sauce is creamy and cheesy, generous amounts of shrimp, and you can use the bread stick to scoop the sauce after eating. I got the Green bean crispers too, and unlike other restaurants, its not salty, but crispy & just right. Did I mention they have karaoke too!? Anyone can request and sing at the karaoke, and they got disco lights going on. I didn't want to leave yet 'coz they were playing my old school pop songs, and I was enjoying and dancing a little bit in my chair! This is a great place to chill with friends and the karaoke makes it a good time!

We just came in town for vacation with our three kids and needed quick dinner in a familiar place. Applebee's seemed to fit the bill! Came in and the restaurant was dark and loud inside. No problem, we thought - we are in Florida, after all, sitting outside would be more pleasant anyway. Well, no sooner than we sat down, a loud group of three men sat nearby. At first we didn't mind, people gotta have fun sometimes, no problem. However, these guys were visibly drunk, stumbling whenever they got up, broke a glass, and were swearing loudly. An older lady yelled at them for swearing around young kids, and they apologized and got a little quieter, but still swearing loud enough for my kids to hear. They also tried to interact with other customers - not aggressively or in a mean way, but the last thing I need is some drunk strangers breathing their alcohol fumes onto my kids. We told our server that we thought they needed to address the issue, and she just said: "They are drinking, what can you do." She did get a manager, who pretty much said the same thing and added: "They only had one beer." Well, they clearly had way more than one, maybe before they came in, but really, that's not even an issue - I don't care how much they had, it's their behavior that we cared about. Don't get me wrong, I understand that people have to relax and have a good time of this sort, but there is a place and time for that, and a (presumably) family-friendly restaurant is not it, and it should up to the restaurant's management to convey the message, but they clearly preferred a bunch of drunk dudes to a family as their customers. See you tomorrow? Don't think so.

I usually don't care for Applebee's restaurant. Went shopping at Sam's Club, got hungry and wanted something quick and simple for lunch. I had their lunch deal. The chicken tortilla soup... Love it!!!! Turkey avocado half sandwich..... Just okay. Since the remodeling of this restaurant. I must say..... Not bad. Looks clean, smell a little. I will only go back for soup and salads, everything else that we have order is kinda salty. Love the soup though !!!!!

This location is hands down the worst location i have ever been to!!!! first off i am not a big fan of chained themed restaurants ( i prefer local mom and pop joints) but this place is close to home and the only option, other then fast food. my family and i have gone about 4 times over 4 years and the quality and service never gets better. This location is consistently disappointing. the food is rarely good, its usually greasy and steaks are always under done. service usually stinks as everybody is pre-occupied with being a teenage hipster and playing games with fellow co-workers. once got a steak that was not only cold and raw in the middle it was very grisly, when i complained the manager came over to tell me "that is the way rib eye steaks are supposed to be", and "medium rare is supposed to be cold and raw in the middle". WHAT!!!!!! there are many better options, the only reason this one is still open is because there is no where else to go in the neighborhood, if somebody opened another chain like cracker barrel, or a chili's, or an outback this place would shut down.

The service varies in this place but it is generally a good restaurant to eat at a reasonable price. In this visit, the hostess was not very friendly and she sat us on a table that needed sweeping, then instead of waiting on another table, she wiped off a different table and sat us. It was pretty gross because the table stank (like a wet disgusting mop) and was still wet. This is not the first time this has happened, more like the third. Is not freaking rocket science, just wipe the table and dry it? too hard? geez. After we got over the smell of the table, the server was nice and friendly, we took our order and brought it rather quickly, which was good. I took pictures of the food, which was good, although the plate seemed a little messy, which goes to show you that they were going for fast service instead of a good presentation. The manager always come by and ask if our food is good, which is good. However, the waitress did not come once between our meal and the check. Which was annoying because I wanted more napkins and water. The food was very tasty and had no complaints, considering they were at a reasonable price. We ordered a sirloin stake and shrimp lime fettuccine, which I recommend. The stake was cooked to our liking, and the shrimp was yummy. BOTTOM LINE: If you want a quick meal that is not McDonalds or some other fast food restaurant, go to Applebees. They have quick service and good food, although the service could use some assistance; and please, please, please I hope that they stop using disgusting smelly wipes to wipe the tables.

Pretty much like any other Applebee's. This one gets crowded and busy in the evenings later in the week, so expect more of a wait at those times. The food is decent.

Now I remember why I never go to this restaurant. We went last weekend around 9pm. We were seated and got our drinks right away. That's where the pleasant experience ended. We had two servers, one of which was a trainee. They forgot part of my dining mate's order and we had to ask for drink refills. we ate very slowly, as the food was extremely salty and my fries were wilted, as usual. Then we were interrupted at least 5 times by the servers while we were talking, when it was obvious we were in deep conversation and didnt need anything but to be left alone with our dinner. Annoying. It appeared as though they were trying to kick us out, even though it was far from closing time and there were plenty of empty tables available. Wish we had a Chilis or Lomnghorn in our area. Maybe someday. But we won't be back to this place..

Took my cousin here for lunch and it was ok. Nothing extraordinary. The price was a value because we ordered what was on the menu. The only thing is I wish I went to panera instead because my sandwich was way too oily. The french onion soup was delicious though. My cousin ordered a pasta dish and it looked appetizing. I will maybe go back here for happy hour or half-off apps.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

Healthy Food Options at Applebee's

When a restaurant serves ribs as their main dish, then you can assume the diet-friendliness of their menu. Well, Applebee's is no different. However, you can dig deeper into their menu and pick some good healthy food options for sure. You can try the salads, light sandwiches, appetizers to ensure you don't order heavy items, etc. If you are really diet conscious, then you got to be careful with their steaks & ribs as well as desserts section.
