We are regular visitors to Anacapri and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and well prepared and the servers and management are nice and gracious. We particularly like the wine bar, as it offers a nice chance to relax prior to waiting for a reservation, and we have even had meals there -- though they don't offer the full menu. This is great local establishment and one of our favorites. I would recommend a reservation on the weekends, but they are also usually accomodating.

This review is about two consecutive weekend visits this month. The atmosphere of Anacapri really gives you a warm impression when you first walk in. The collection of wines and marketplace really sets the tone for your experience. So yeah your expectations are really high and you're totally looking forward to your meal. Once you sit down you being to notice that the staff seem very unhappy and aren't thrilled with their job. This becomes more evident when you have to repeatedly ask for more bread, wine, water, etc. You would think they'd hop on a wine request but not at all. On my first visit I had Italian wedding soup which tasted more like minestrone. I'm a huge fan of wedding soup so I wasn't too impressed. We also had calamari which was pretty standard, The Gnoci, Tortellini and Egglant Parmesan all got rave reviews from our table. My cousin wasn't crazy about the linguini with clam sauce. My partner ordered mushroom risotto which he requested Chicken with. It came without the chicken and was so hot he burned the inside of his mouth. A day later it blistered. Still it was delicious, not sure it was worth the injury. So overall the food is definately pretty excellent. I wasn't prepared to spend over two hours for dinner and having to wait so much for everything you ask for. The service definately is the Achilles heel of this establishment. Miserable staff that really aren't concerned with your overall experience. Some friends I know recommended the place but warned us ahead of time. So you just have to weigh the good food with the bad service.

Good food! Great service. Love their Pasta Tuesday. Great wine bar and tapas. They offer a great variety of specials every day of the week. Always a treat to eat there.

My husband and I eat at Ana Capri every so often and it has always been a pleasant experience. Food is always delicious and freshly made. Service is excellent. The Lobster Risotto is amazing!!!

Haven't been here in years. But it wasn't as good as I remember. It was just OK. The spinach seemed frozen. The bread did also My husband and I shared a meal and we had to ask for extra dishes with every course. We won't be going back again for a long time. There's plenty of other better Italian restaurants to choose from.

Found this place by accident. We were the first customers there. They opened at 5pm on Sunday. Inside is really nice. Before looking at the menu I was guessing expensive. To my surprise the prices were reasonable. Food was out of control. Tasted fantastic. I had the lasagna. My favorite. Waiter was polite and professional. A little on the quiet side. By did a great job.

The service here is awful!!!! Went here for a birthday dinner and I will never go back. We arrived and did not receive our drinks until 45 minutes later. We were never asked if we would like appetizers, refills, coffee or dessert. The waiters would quickly drop off the items and Rush off before we could ask for anything. The simple dinner became a two and a half hour dinner by the end and I could not wait to leave. The food was good but there are plenty of Italian restaurants out there that I will never try this one again.

This is a neighborhood gem! We absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere, service and delicious food. Wine selection is great too. We visit once a week for take out or to eat in, the hostess Dani is such a sweetie pie. The fiocchi is an amazing dish, but there are so many other great dishes too.

Great neighborhood spot. Won't blow your mind but always consistent. They're fiocchi with pear and gorgonzola cheese is unreal...a can't miss. Also the Caesar salad is delish. Definitely stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

I am giving this restaurant 3 stars not because it is has bad food, but because the attitude of the server is horrible. I have visited this place about 3 different times and I have always gone dressed appropriately. The service in the past has been good, but not great. On one visit I was very dressed down, to the point that I felt bad going in on how I was dressed (jogging pants and a sweater) Well, the server just decided that night to treat me like a second class citizen and telling me of certain menu items being a little expensive for me! Well, I was just pissed from that moment forward, I made my remarks to him and to say the least I have never gone back. Not because of the food, because the food is great, the service? that is another thing to answer. If the owners read this, make sure your staff treats everyone equally, I visit high end restaurants all time, I just don't like to show off that I have any wealth!

Much better than it looks. The location is the only reason I'd hold out on giving it a 5. Just wasn't that impressive but once you get inside its nice and cozy. I had the penne arriabata which I may have spelled wrong but sure was delicious. It compared to the pasta I had in Rome which was divine. My wife had the bucatini amatriciana and that was great too. The rest of our party had different meals they all enjoyed. We also ordered the palermo wine and the Santa margherita. Both delicious. Unfortunately my brother in law paid for us and didn't let me cover my plate but from what I remember it was like $15 a person for food which isn't bad. Would put it at no more than $25 a person after drinks and stuff. I'd go back.

New owners? New Chef? Sorry I never write reviews like this but had such a disappointing meal last night that I wanted to share. I have not dined here in many years so not sure with opening of other locations, maybe this original restaurant is suffering. My date ordered a risotto of the day and, other than the sausage being mild and not spicy, said it was good. I, on the other hand, ordered Orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, which is one of my favorite pastas. The dish was very bland - not enough garlic and mild sausage instead of spicy. What really bothered me was the way the broccoli rabe was presented. This dish should use only the florets but the chef "dumped" a whole "bunch" of steamed broccoli rabe with leaves into the bowl. I am not Italian and make this dish so much better. Service could have also been better.

So, I'm checking my credit card purchases (receipts) against my bill and guess what I found? Yup, Anacapri snuck in an extra $10. Very disappointing! And I so liked the place, but there's no place in my heart for a sneak. But then when you're swamped with local business... Tip; Always put your copy of a receipt under the original before you complete and sign the ticket. The impression goes through. Then write to the side of the impression so it's easier for you to see when you check your bill. I can tell you that I have been stung a few times by overzealous crooks that crank up the tip. Sometimes like Anacapri a slight amount that you might not notice or others where they jack you for an extra $100... Another option is to use your phone to photo the original receipt.

Excellent food, service and decor. Do not have to go further to have consistently good Italian fare. Wait staff very attentive. Wine list good and fairly priced. Can't go wrong. Went back, recently...still a 4 star experience.

Food is not bad. Service was OK but not great for the prices. Be careful about paying by debit/credit card as they have not updated their POS system, and are using an insecure version of Windows....just part of the overall feeling that they don't really care about their customers. Watch your statements if you use a card.

Love this place... Hidden in a busy shopping center, you will find this little gem. I've gone to the Anacapri in the Gables which is a bit bigger than this location. The food was fresh and the service was good. I recommend making reservation during the weekend because it does get packed and it isn't very small. The brushetta is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I can order only that and dessert and my meal could be complete. I am NOT a tomato lover and I convert every time I come here. But of course you MUST try the pasta... Ohhh que rico!!!! The only negative is that it gets LOUD... EXTREMELY loud... so if you are looking for a quiet little Italian restaurant don't go during their busy times. If you don't mind, then go. The staff/host were extremely friendly and made us feel comfortable by coming by our table occasionally and striking up conversation. You don't see that too often at restaurants. Overall, a very pleasant experience and we will definitely be back soon :)

Actually wanted to give it 3.5 stars. Anyways, it's not a bad rest. Not bad for the price. Service is pretty good. They are more than willing to create or modify any dish you want to your liking. Nice salads, Caesar salad needs to be a bit colder? Wine list is appropriate for rest location. Corking charge is $15.00. Will def return.

When we were driving over to this place for dinner, I was asking the people I was with "but, is the food there good???" and although they had eaten there numerous times before, they were like "I think so, I mean, decent. I mean, I think it's not bad. But, really, I can't remember." And, really that's kind of what this place is like. Not great, not awful, just kind of there.... I got the gnocchi and it was fine. Starchy and the like and I opted for marinara sauce rather than the cream sauce it came with. It also came with prosciutto and peas, which on the menu sounded great. I was thinking large, thin, delicate ribbons of pig sitting daintily amid peas and gnocchi. Not so much. It was tiny, hard, chopped up pieces of ham swimming in sauce. Not bad, but not good enough to return to this restaurant. Plus, the side salad before the meal was small, sad, and mostly iceberg lettuce. Service, however, was stellar. Anacapri was...uh, hmm...you know, I can't remember. Okay?....I guess?

This place is so small, and exclusive feeling. It's hidden in a shopping center, and that's just the way I like it! If it were crowded, it would lose some of its appeal. It's a prefect spot for a nice, quiet, deliciously romantic outing. Each time we come here, it's an enjoyable experience! I always recommend their snapper francese to anyone who goes here! So yummy!

My favorite Italian food period. Anacapri offers the best quality of everything. From the simple to the elaborate, I have never been served anything I didn't like. The ambiance is also beautiful, not at all like the stereotypes given to Italian restuarants.

I love their soups! I also had the most amazing and unusual raviolis stuffed with pear and cheese. I loved it. The sauce they were in was great and fresh. It didn't taste like your typical "Italian" restaurant alfredo sauce...it was evident that it was made from scratch with traditional ingredients.

We went there for dinner last night around 8pm. The hostess was very friendly and professional. The service is very good: prompt, professional and polite. The hostess recommended the eggplant balls which she stated were made fresh that day. Meatballs are the specialty on Friday. I ordered them for the main course with linguine and pink sauce. My wife ordered the lasagna. We had the lamb meatballs for appetizer and the torta de la nonna for dessert. In general the food was fine. I will admit hat based on the reputation I had been expecting something really good, but it was was just fine. Our meal with the cheapest bottle of malbec ($30) plus food, tax and tip was $100. I think its too expensive. The eggplant balls were delicious. It was a good recommendation from the hostess. The lamb meat balls thought were small, dry and not flavorful. My wife's lasagna was very very oily. The pink sauce (which in general tends to be a heavy sauce) was too heavy. The dessert was very good.

Comfort food - you'll know it when you need it. That's probably the best way to view Anacapri, Miami's mini-chain of Italian restaurants. It really does feel very homelike in its Tuscan ambiance and subdued lighting, which is punctuated by the boisterous table conversations (which you will not be too far away from, considering it is a rather small space). The food is equally inviting, though I have noticed they are starting to overdo it on the butter. The linguine carbonara's egg cream sauce and pancetta deserved top billing but were drenched in it. Their pink sauce is excellent, and the gnocchi (a potato-based pasta) works very well with it. On Sunday nights, they have a "Neopolitan Dinner" special that includes pasta, entree, glass of wine, and coffee for $30! The entree was a 'ragout' consisting of spicy sausage, tender meatballs, and a strange concotion of ground beef with pine nuts, raisins, and some green (spinach?). Whatever it was, it was overcooked, making it very dry and not too tasty. But, the tomato sauce was nice and sweet with little acidity to it. Dessert - tiramesu, of course.

Party of twelve for lunch (reservations). The tables setup was awkward but quickly changed to accommodate us. Service was slow. We waited a long time to order and equally as long for appetizers to arrive. Appetizer portions were huge. The eggplant could have been a meal for me. Drink refills were not always prompt. A request to substitute risotto for penne as a side to the veal mafia was denied with a simple "no". The request was rephrased to not serve the penne and please add a side of risotto. Would have been nice if the waiter offered risotto as an additional side when first asked. The entrees were generous proportions and delicious! The porcini mushroom risotto was the best ever tasted by those who tried it. Some members of the party ordered coffee with dessert but the offer was not extended to the rest of the party. The cheesecake was mealy, not creamy. The meal took three hours. It could have been two if better staffed. The wait staff wore tee shirts with phrases on them and the restaurant logo on the back. Tacky. The hostess was poorly dressed in raggedy blue jeans. Not in keeping with the elegance of the decor. If I were the proprietor, I'd set a stricter dress code for the employees to convey a better ambiance. All in all the food was four and a half stars but the service and staff brings the rating down to three.

I really liked this restaurant. There is really nice ambiance and the food is authentic and delicious. Our waiter was never more than a second away as soon as my water glass reached a certain level the waiter miraculously appeared and filled it. My chicken marsala was excellent and the penne pasta in garlic was also very good. I would certainly eat here again and would recommend this location to anyone who loves good Italian food in a nice relaxing setting.

Very good italian food with a nice variety of pastas, meat and seafood dishes on the menu. I have enjoyed the veal marsala; it's very flavorful and full of mushrooms. Have also enjoyed the ravioli for a lighter meal; the menu lists meat and cheese raviolis. They usually have seafood, porcini mushroom and spinach ravioli which are not listed on the menu and very good. Ask the waiter for them. Their soups are very good and hearty; you could make a meal out of the minestrone soup. The dining room is pleasant, with white tablecloths and cloth napkins and nice service. It's busy on the weekends, so make a reservation.

Outstanding. Many people don't know about this place, which is good because its small intimate dining room cannot handle too many people. If you're going during peak dinner hours make reservations or prepare to wait. The food is unbelievably good and the prices are reasonable. I have been to almost every Italian restaurant and this is my wife and my favorite.

I see that I am in the minority with my review here but...... The decor of Anacapri is very soothing and not at all "italian kitchy". It is reminiscent of some of the finer dining establishments in Rome and the proprietor is an Italian immigrant from Sicilia, which explains the authenticity of the dining room. We were seated immediately (we had reservations) and the place was busy. Throughout our time, there were never more than two empty tables and turnover was fairly rapid. There was an abundance of waitstaff this particular evening and all were dressed very professionally with dress pants, shirts and ties. We were very pleased that no one introduced themselves as, "Steve, and I'll be your waiter tonight". There was one problem, however, with our server in that he had a very heavy Spanish accent and each of us had difficulty understanding the other. It was a little frustrating because my husband was trying to order a veal chop "medium rare" and the conversation morphed into a version of the "who's on first?" routine. Also, in the background, the music was belting out "Feliz Navidad". What happened to Buon Natale? We're sticklers on authenticity when it comes to regional decor, music, etc. so, go ahead and call us snobs. Much to our chagrin, the service was miserable. My entree arrived while I was in the middle of eating salad and it was plopped down without a word, as was my husband's and our dining companion's. The chicken cacciatore was excessively oily. It was very tasty but simply a good puttanesca sauce poured over two chicken breasts. I make a wicked cacciatore myself and this was definitely sub-par and not worth the $18.95. My husbands veal chop was perfectly cooked and the side of arugula was tasty. Our companion ordered one of the nightly specials and declared it to be "okay" but a bit heavy on the oil. As the busboy was clearing our table, he dropped a fork from the pasta in the middle of the tablecloth. He gave it a cursory glance and proceeded back to the kitchen, leaving it there in its little tomato splatter. My husband hissed, "classy!" Because we obviously were not in the "regulars" category, we paid the bill and left and I don't think anyone noticed as there were no "goodnights or thanks for coming". It is what it is. We're hoping it was just an "off" night but prefer Trattoria Luna a bit farther North. We'll try Anacapri again some evening but not too soon.

FAVORITE ITALIAN RESTAURANT EVER! My family has been going there for years, they are very good friends with the owner. We celebrate just about every event here.. from birthdays to mother's day and just going to eat dinner. The Pear Fiocchi is TO DIE FOR. I have brought many friends here on different occasions and not one person has walked away without raving about this pasta.

Once upon a time this place was good. Now, not so much. Don't. I mean DO NOT order the veal chop special. Overpriced, poorly cooked, rubbery. Waiter and management did not care to address issue of poorly prepared dish. Fugeddabout this place. as if they were real italians anyway.

I was pretty disappointed with my AnaCapri experience. It seems to have such great reviews but I didn't experience that. The restaurant was pretty empty when I went so I didn't have to wait that long for a table...which is about the only positive that I can think of. I figured since the place is so highly rated that I would get pretty authentic Italian..but it was just the opposite. The first thing that came to the table was the bread, which was ok...there wasn't anything special about it. The butter on the other hand did stand out...because it was hard enough to be used as a weapon. It was almost and insult to serve butter that is harder than steel. As I mentioned before...I was in the mood for traditional Carbonara...so thats what I ordered. What arrived at my table was something completely different. It looked more like Fettucini Alfredo than it did Carbonara. The thing I was looking forward to the most was the nice egg yolk on top of my pasta, but alas I had no egg yolk. Instead I had a cream sauce and chunks of prosciutto. When I told the waiter that I think I might have gotten the wrong dish, he insisted that I didn't. I told him that if this was Carbonara that there should be an egg on top...where was my egg? He went back to the kitchen to inquire and came back to tell me that this was how they make Carbonara. That they use the egg in making the sauce. So let me get this straight....you're serving Alfredo with a few chunks of ham in it and you're calling it Carbonara...and you're charging me $16 for it?! Bad form AnaCapri...bad form. I don't think I will be revisiting this establishment in search of a place that knows how to make Italian food properly.

Nice homey atmosfere but thats it. Waiter didn't know the menu nor did he go over the specials. I've had Anacapri for lunch as catering and I doubt this was the same chef. I ordered the Malafemina and it was just not good. No flavor whatsoever! It was overpriced and I have never seen a mix of spaghetti and linguini at an Italian restaurant before. That was weird. But if you really want great Italian food go a little further south to Trattoria Romanza! Now there you will not be disappointed.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
