I had fried chicken, cheese grits, rice and gravy and corn bread. It was very good, especially the fried chicken. You have to wait 20 minutes, and they make that clear verbally and on the menu, so don't get upset when it takes........ wait for it......... 20 minutes. Drum roll.

Average diner food. The decor is classic 50's. The restaurant and bathrooms were also very clean. The food was average. I had the fried shrimp and oyster combo. The shrimp was good and fresh but the oysters were mushy. I had mashed potatoes and fried okra for my side. The potatoes tasted like they were made from instant but the okra was fresh and crispy. Overall just an average experience but if you're driving by and need to make a pit stop, give it a try. It beats the same ol' fast food joints.

The best chicken fried steak i ever had. Cracker Barrel lost the title today. It's very thick and juicy. I'm from Atlanta and I will be back when I'm in town again.

Good home cooked southern cuisine. I've been here several times and I've never had a bad meal. Quick service is a plus too!

So good - the special was the open face turkey sandwich and it was delicious! For dessert we had the coconut cream pie and it was the best I've had. The servers were very patient with my grumpy children. We will be back!

Man do I love living on the west side!! Fried chicken or veggie platter?! So many veggies it's hard to choose. And if you are looking for some great catering these are the right people to make your group happy! So yummy and always delivered on time!

First time visitors to this diner. Good alternative to fast food and a sit-down restaurant chain. Fast, friendly service, accurate food order and the kids were given a gift bag with lots of stuff in it, such as silly straws, USA bracelets, pencils, a car, etc. Food was good - a lot of fried choices. I would have liked to have seen more salads and fruit on the menu.

Definitely a small town diner, was so satisfying. Have never had liver and onions so close to how grandma made it , minus the gravy which also was amazing BTW. Can't complain about kids meals, and unsweetened tea was so refreshing! Fried catfish was delicious! Waitress was super friendly and very attentive :) kids devoured banana split, didn't get to try but I'm guessing it was spot on too! Lots of chain restaurants nearby, def skip those and stop here!!

What a great place to dine! Friendly, fun atmosphere and really good!! The chicken fried steak was fantastic, and the Chicken Pot Pie...oh my goodness was that delicious!!! The crust was incredibly flaky and buttery, just as it should be! We'll definitely dine here again and hopefully eat dessert first so that we have room for it.

The slices of onions are bigger than the burgers, the waits are long, the servers are rude and the place is full of crying children. Save yourself the calories and go to Ruby Tuesdays next door. Even for a chain, it's got to be better than this place.

Fantastic food, very reasonably priced, good portion size and friendly staff. It was a stop on our road trip where we opted to try a restaurant instead of fast food and I'm glad we did.

This place was okay. Mediocre. Not too bad and not that great either. Worst part everything was pre-made. Some of my food was cold. It came out 2 min after I ordered.

Definitely get the fried chicken!! This is what made me give this place 5 stars!! Plus, the desert was pretty darn good too. The fried okra was really good, meatloaf was ok and the mashed potatoes were bland. Green beans and corn were from a can. Reasonable prices. The specials are definitely the way to go here! We got the special for $9.99. It came with fried chicken (2 large pieces of white meat) or meatloaf, 3 sides, corn muffin (it must have weighed a pound...super dense and really good) plus a piece of cake. There was so much food that even my teenage boys couldn't finish.

Food is good but service is hit or miss. They need to get better servers!

This is a locally owned and operated restaurant. My mother and I were spending a day in Pensacola (we're Mobilians) and though I had never heard of Wayne's before (we're Mobilians), it was on the way to where we were going so we stopped off. Loved the atmosphere. It has a Steak and Shake 50s feel to it, which is always a plus in my opinion. The service was fast and accurate. We got fried green tomatoes, which were amazing. That's a serious compliment because the best FGTs I've ever had were from a chain restaurant called Folks (or Po Folks in some places) and Wayne's is the only other place I've ever been to that equal Folks on that subject. My mother ordered a vegetable plate and she loved what she got. She's from the old school whose motto is "if it aint fried it aint food". lol! She's a very regal woman, but she loves fried southern food, it reminds her of her mother. I got a chili burger with onion rings. There are two types of onion rings in this world and those are breaded and floured. I hate breaded onion rings. Breaded onion rings are the devil and are lame attempts at making onion rings. Wayne's does it right, they flour them and YUM! They were delicious. The burger meat was good, but that chili was more than a little disappointing. To begin with, authentic Texas chili is bean free (I grew up in Texas) and not only did this have beans, but it was NOT good. Honestly, it tastes like Hormel chili, which I don't like. I'm a Wolf chili kind of woman, that is... if it HAS to come from a can. The bathrooms are clean as well. I'm really big on bathrooms (most of my reviews include them) because if they can't keep that clean, then what else are they not keeping clean? See what I mean? All in all, we really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it, so long as you don't get the chili.

50s style diner with lots of decor from that era and we were seated right away. Mid-stop on our way to Disney, we were weary travelers, so eager for a decent meal. Very friendly and attentive waitstaff. I ordered the grilled catfish, green beans and baked beans. The meal was bland, but that's ok. Baked beans tasted canned. Wife had fried pickles and grilled cheese sandwich. Pickles were battered a little too much for me and very salty. Kids had hamburgers, shrimp and fries, which they seemed to enjoy. Overall, I'm happy we came and would likely return to order something different.

I really wanted to like this place after they drew me in with the sign saying "20 vegetables." After eating at Cracker Barrel one too many times I was eager to experience a good old southern vegetable plate at someplace new. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed when I entered the building was the sour old carpet smell. It seemed like at some point the restaurant had flooded and, because it's a small space housed in an old-fashioned dining car, the carpet hadn't been replaced and just emanated a moldy, earthy smell. I decided to sit down anyway but since one area was closed off, the waitress directed me to an area to the left of the cash registers that was right in front of the bathrooms. Since the bathrooms open directly into that dining area you guessed it - the whole room smells like BATHROOM. Why they didn't close off that area and put customers in the area up front, next to the windows, is beyond me. Why they don't put some kind of barrier in front of those bathrooms is also beyond me. I was totally grossed out. The staff was very, very friendly and attentive but the food turned out to be a disappointment too. My lima beans tasted canned and very much like they'd been sitting around too long, and my macaroni was very bland. The only thing worth eating was the fried okra, but it had been a bit over-fried in what tasted like the fish-frying oil and it was hard as a rock. I had high hopes for the corn and my biscuit but nope, those were both nothing to rave about either. It's really too bad. I wanted to like this place! They need to replace the carpet, separate those bathrooms so they don't stink into the dining area, and serve fresher vegetables!

The diner was located across from the hotel we were staying at and we braved the horrible weather to get some breakfast grub. I couldn't believe we were in Pensacola the day that the floods made a history mark of 18 inches. It was perfect weather for staying in and the staff at the diner was surprised we made it in after running through the downpour. Anyway, our breakfasts was good. Too bad there was a piece of hair in my omelette that I discovered halfway after eating it. Our waitress looked at it in horror while I said something about it and she apologized a billion times for it. It was taken off the bill, no questions asked. My appetite was lost and I'm glad I got full on the home fries and grits. I don't remember what Chris got because I was so disgusted by what I found in my food. It's nobody's fault, but I was kind of disappointed of the experience. I'm giving it a 2 1/2 stars and I decided to round it up to 3 because of the hospitality of the waitress.

Blinded by the interstate traffic northwest of Pensacola near the state line, this family-run Southern diner is the place where all the local police, firefighters and more get their fix of crispy fried chicken, gooey mac 'n cheese, sweet potatoes and fried okra. Just ignore all those chain eateries and hotel high-rises nearby. This is THE place for a good ol' fashioned diner meal, especially if you grab a piece of coconut cake afterward.

My husband and I decided to try this for lunch mostly because of the sign that says 20 vegetables. The food was cold, and not that flavorful. The service was okay. We won't be back.
