High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

My husband and I came here before a show at the Saenger Theater. Our waitress took our order without writing anything down, came back 5 minutes later and apologized and asked us to confirm the order and stated that she did not want to mess it up, which we appreciated. However, both of our orders were wrong. My husbands "boneless" wings had bones in them and I ordered a turkey bacon brioche with no mayo and add cheese, but bit into the most disgusting turkey burger. We were in a hurry to make it to the show, but the waitress assured us that she could get my correct order out to me in one minute. Five minutes later I was scarfing down my order, even though it was wrong AGAIN (had mayo, didn't have cheese). The waitress told us she wouldn't charge us for the turkey bacon brioche, but forgot and did charge us and then when a manager came by he said, "Oh, I'm sorry, if we're open when the show gets out, come back." Bad customer experience. Also, the food was mediocre AT BEST.

I stopped in with friends late night on what I believe was called Gallery night during Memorial Day weekend. It was pretty crowded all night but we went in pretty late after the crowd died down. I guess the staff was wiped out because I found the service to be pretty slow for one order of mozzarella sticks. For bar apps, they were ok and the beer cold- which is what you would expect. But the service could have been better. The bar itself is not quite a candidate for Bar Rescue, but the management team and staff could benefit from watching a couple episodes and taking notes.

I give two stars for the service. I can't remember her name but she was very nice and kind. The food took an hour to get to the table and it was cold. I ordered the ribs and they tasted so bad I couldn't even finish the meal. If the food was better I would return but it doesn't look too promising.

NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY Let me paint you a picture of this ridiculous service experience. We were a party of 9 and were sat in the back room. We were a group of military members grabbing some dinner on the night off and we thought a place that has a "military night" once a week would be a little more respectful. Our server Lauren was completely useless. She ignored the back half of the table and we actually just went to the bar to get what we needed. Here is where the real issues start. When we ordered some beer later and she checked our ID's she insulted us and our home state saying things like "how terrible" and "ew". A place that pushes being military friendly needs to educated the servers that the members coming in are away from home and missing it crazy and if you have the balls to insult us for where we're from don't expect ANY of us to come back. Such a disappointing experience.

Went for lunch. 25 minutes to get a burger out and got a "you saw me put it in right away" as the initial excuse.

Sure, maybe you shouldn't order a mojito at a sports bar, but if you want to order a regular basic cocktail such as a mojito and decide to do so instead of going with a beer or something of that sort, it shouldn't taste like one old lime and some soda water. For a $7 drink, it was disgusting. It's not a craft cocktail... Any bartender should be able to figure out how to make a basic mojito and not have it taste like soda water. If they can't make it right, don't offer it. Also, the server forgot my boyfriend's beer until our food was served (he ordered the beer at the same time the food was ordered). At that time, there were maybe ten people in the restaurant and what appeared to be two servers on the floor. That equates to five people per server... If you can't handle five people, you shouldn't be serving. However, it's not that she couldn't handle it, it's that she had a sh**ty attitude and didn't care either. Anyways, back to the beer. When she remembered, she didn't even apologize. She never smiled or tried to even act like she was working for tips. It's one thing to be forgetful and to make crappy drinks, but to not even have an apology or a somewhat decent attitude is unforgivable for a person working in the service (Keyword: SERVICE) industry. We ordered the chicken tender appetizer as were only in for a snack, and they were fine. The only complaint was that they were absolutely smothered in sauce, but that's not a big deal to us. We just ate with our silverware. The food came out in a timely manner and was freshly cooked. After we were done, we waited for quite a while for the lazy server to come over and ask if we wanted another drink. This was surprising to me, because our plates were stacked so we were clearly ready to go, and the thought that we would want to spend more money to order another drink so that we could wait another 15 minutes for it was laughable. We won't be back, and won't recommend it. Date of visit: 6/16/14 at about 2:00 PM.

Left a lot to be desired. Entire staff including the guy who appeared to be a manager were super unprofessional. Took a lot longer for service than needed as the place was practically a ghost town. Nothing special about the food. Sliders had way more bun then beef. We'll give it one more shot maybe, but compared to everywhere else in PCola, this place needs a serious attitude adjustment! (Prior server, so I know what I'm talking about)

Food was so so. Restaurant was freezing cold inside to the point that we didn't remove our coats. Summers over so turn off the AC. Good service for the most part and we were seated promptly then waited forever to get our food in an empty restaurant. The fries, the few that they alloted you, were cold and one person in our party didn't recieve their order. She waited and waited until the rest of us were almost done eating just to have it come out with the order of a couple seated behind us. I guess our waitress didn't want to make two trips from the kitchen. I thought it was rather pricy for the quality of the food. If you are looking for a good burger and fries try Red Robin because you aren't going to get it here. My prime rib sandwich was nothing more than the meat they use for their cheese steak sandwiches which was rather disappointing but the bun was great. This was my first and last trip to Beef O'Bradys as there are too many good restaurants in P'cola to choose from.

Lost my business for good. Went to watch FSU/OSU game of the week. Got to watch first half then they abruptly came around in-game and turned all the monitors to UFC. What the? It was the first game of the season and the place was full of fans. If nothing else they should have turned the other monitors to the game before turning on the UFC match. We will not go back.

We were seated quickly, which is a good sign. But the Servers Rushed us. Even with not having hot dog buns for the hot dogs. Gave us our check before we were halfway done without even an offer of a refill on drink. Slow down everyone don't just want to drink then come here to eat.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
