Ate here on a Friday night and was not incredibly impressed. Recently moving from NY, I'm finding it challenging to find a great high end Italian restaurant in this area. I started with a "Greek" style grilled calamari salad over arugula, it was light and delicious (and gigantic). For my main I had shrimp francese which was a little heavy on the garlic for me and the shrimp a bit fishy. Hubby had chicken parm which was gigantic and decent but not really worth the $22 price. And I dont mind paying the price if the food is worth it. Beer or wine only - oh and they were out of the first beer my hubby ordered. Like i said decent but overpriced for just decent....

We were a group of ten and they were very accommodating. Menu was the standard fare of pastas, cacciatores and Marsalas. The Caesar salad to start was watery and bland. The flavor of the Marsala was very good but there was maybe 2 ounces of chicken on the plates. Overall dinner was $35 per person which wasn't terrible but the staff had no clue how to process two credit cards and cash. After 1/2 an hour of confusion we were about to miss our theater. Decor was such a cliche but maybe that is what their patrons want. Overall not a terrible experience, mostly disappointed with the ridiculously small amount of meat and the incompetent ending.

Great warm place to dine! We loved the service and the food. From the appetizers to the wine. My husband had the veal amd I had pasta both were terrific. We certainly be back for more!

This is a restaurant that I loved since they opened. However, now they have had the bright idea to stop being fine dining and become a pizza parlor. They opened for lunch for a week, then changed their minds. I went for dinner, received burned rolls as a starter. I had to ask for the rolls after waiting a while to see if bread came with the meal. Because the menu was new, no one knew if bread was served with the meal. The food took so long to come out, that two of my guests had to leave. I paid for their meals anyway and had them wrapped to go. Reheated Renzo's food is not the same so I basically threw my money away. I guess Renzos needs to decide what they want to be when they grow up. This pizza parlor, burned rolls, slow service does not cut it. By the way, I tried the pizza. Tasted like Papa John's on a bad night. Yuck.

Staff seemed nice and was friendly. I arrived to a nearly empty restaurant(one other table) was asked if I had reservations. i was given a choice of two tables. We were offered bread knots which arrived piping hot. Were ok, a little overcooked. I was surprised there was no lasagne on the menu, which is what i had planned to get but ordered the pasta and italian sausage....not a great choice, sausage was ok, kind of lukewarm, pasta was cooked perfectly, tasted like from a box, red sauce was bland...really overall just mediocre. husband ordered veal marsala, he says that the sauce was watery, and overall nothing special..cannot recommend....too many really good Italian restaurants in the area to settle for this place....sorry..nice staff though

I am sure they saw it coming. Disappointed its not even the world. We were prompted there by a lousy Italian meetup organizer who never mentioned that at 2 pm on Sunday they are having"special" with chef singing at ... Are you ready? 50$ per person, with one glas of house wine included. So, we sit at the table in a small restaurant in a middle of nowhere In a god forotten plaza. A server comes to us and starts to list what they have coming. He holds 1 bottle of wine in each hand, and says we have a choice of red and white . He doesn't even ask us what wine we prefer, no wine list, just waiving 2 bottles of wine in front of us. We say , ok, white is fine ...I guess. Then he says something about appetizers, soup and entree. I say to my friends, why is he talking about all this food without even asking us what we want. And where are menus?!! Our mistake was that we didn't ask upfront , but Renzos, it's a very bad business not to give your customers menus or at least inform them from the beginning what the story is. At the end a waiter said there was a sign on a door. It SHOULD NOT BE ON A DOOR, it should be printed and put infront of the customer to see. After I came out I looked, there was no sign, may be they took it off. Anyway, me being a vegeterian, an appetizer that came with a handful of calamari, two clams and ones slice of tomato with mozzarella went almost completely to my friends plates. Then minestrone came actually as a cup put In a bowl. Then my plate with few carrots, asparagus and mashed potato. At this point we were talking between ourselves how much it can cost, all these course that no one wanted, but when they brought desert, it was obvious that it was a prefix dinner. None of us was hungry to have all these dishes. The last time I ordered desert in a restaurant was 2 years ago. So, we thought at 2 pm on Sunday the most it can be 30-35$ per person. No, it was 50$ plus all the wine that he was carrying around in his hands and pouring it into empty glasses we had to pay for extra. He poured my second glass in a half full glass thatni didn't even finish. So,the whole bill came to 70$ per person, with me not even having meat or fish dish, tip not included. I never saw anything as ridiculous as that. Food at most mediocre. It's extremely overpriced, though waiter was trying to prove to us that it's not comparing to place across the street. But the whole misleading presentation with our server running around with bottles of wine in both hands, not printed specials on a table in front of us is just wrong. I looked at the menu: risotto 32$, what a joke for a place like this, and other prices are similar. Overall: aloof service, aloof attitude of management, non existant value for quality and quantity of food, and a ripoff with the bill. Never again, and advice you the same.

Not quite sure why all of the negative reviews. But, from someone who just recently got back from a trip to Italy, this place is pretty close to the cuisine there. You will never get the food you have in Italy unless you're there, but this place is very good. The service was very attentive. Although the waiter did forget our appetizer, he was very apologetic and hastily provided us with a complementary dessert. The complimentary bruschetta is a nice touch as well. They have an excellent wine selection, as well as very delicious and varied food items listed on their menu. I would certainly recommend this place.

We live in the area and finally decided to give it a try thanks to a living social coupon. Service was very disorganized - although pleasant. 3 different folks greeted us - 2 asked for our drink order and finally another took our food order. Disappointed to only have beer and wine from the bar. Salad was pitiful - small with only lettuce a cherry tomato (singular) and an olive (singular). The dressing was so full of vinegar my wife had a coughing fit. The entrees were mediocre. Kind of bland. Defiantly a step above the "chains" but not worth the price.

Very noisy and understaffed. Service was slow and waiter had too many customers to take care off. Chicken Francese had little taste with veins throughout. Overpriced for what you get. $10 glass of wine. Never again.

There are very few places that make you feel like family when you visit. This is one of them. From the awesome food to the chef/owner personally singing to us, I liked every second of my experience. The food was a little salty, it would have gotten 5 stars otherwise.

Wait staff gets a 5 - exceptional all the way. Food was good, fresh, well prepared but perhaps a bit too salty. No "WOW's" which was a dissappointment but nothing subpar. Close to a 4 but not quite. Will try again.

Ate here Saturday night. Have eaten at his Boca restaurant a few times and have never gotten how he has been so successful as I have found his food to be very mediocre. This is not going to be a happy review but an honest one for foodies. We started with stuffed artichoke which was soggy, had decent flavor but mediocre. Well worth the roughly $ 13 (yes I am sarcastic). Our server recommended the gnocci a la vodka ($23). The dish (portion size was New York style gargantuan) was smothered in sauce, of taste no netter than low end jarred sauce (note I did not say higher end jarred sauce). The Chicken Milanese ($22) provided were three plump chicken breasts (nothing else presented on the plate). Normally I expect one pounded thin larger breast. It came with the choice of a side of which I was offered either one of two separate vegetables or a side of pasta, and took the pasta. The texture of the chicken was mushy soft as if it may have been marinated. The breading was not crispy and seemed more like a soggy Progresso home style that was relatively tasteless. As Renzo walked the room and noticed the three bare chicken breasts on the plate he casually mentioned "you want a salad" to go on it? Yes! That is my expectation of a Chicken Milanese. The side dish of pasta was penne with red sauce. The soggy overcooked penne was as bad as it gets and I would be highly embarrassed as an owner of a high end Italian restaurant to present and put this on the table. The sauce was ok, nothing good. Service was very good and the place became crowded by 8 pm. Once again we have to be thankful to have another mediocre restaurant join the ranks of other mediocre restaurants in the Parkland-Coral Springs area. If you want similar quality go to Sal's. For $5 or is it $ 10? You can get the same quality.

We were drawn in by the $10 off $50 purchase coupon. Complimentary olives and bruschetta were good; salad was and cold; chicken pargmegian was tender, not crispy, but still very good. Lots of it. Red sauce was good. Husband had sausage and penne....huuuuuge portions. Decor is nice; a bit upscale, but did see two families come in with kids and parents dressed very casually. Maybe once "season" starts you'll see more of the well heeled crowd. Talented piano player. Hope to see things pick up for Renzo in this location and that more good businesses join him in that plaza.

Yellowtail snapper was more likely red snapper (I think). Filet was too thick and not really great taste or texture. Calamari was ok but scungilli was like rubber. There was a foreign object in the food. Service was ok, place was freezing... Prices were equal to restaurants of vastly higher quality everything. One star for the really good ricotta cheesecake.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
