This place is fantastic! Everything from great food to friendly service. When I walked in and could barely get a table I realized it would probably be very good. I didn't realize my lunch portion would be ridiculous so I now have lunch today in the fridge. I got the special of the day - pork with two sides. The pork was so tender it must have been cooking low and slow for hours. The seasonings on the pork were delicious. I got, as suggested by Yelpers, the yucca fries and the sweet plantains. I don't always love fried things, but would definitely say they were worth a try. The sweet plantains were magnificent. Definitely a great spot.

This place was amazing. I never would have found it without Yelp. It is set in a corner of a small strip mall, and all the small sign says is Cuban Food. Do not go on appearance! The food was amazing. I got roast pork, yellow rice, and plantanos. Portion was enough for two but it was so tasty that I ate it all. I will be back to try other things.

Old section of Bradenton has it charm. We are actually at work lunch today close to this area. I need some help from our fellow yelper to look up the best rating around this area. Many of the restaurants actually close at Monday in this area. Abuela is a Cuban restaurant serving in this area has decent rating. We decided to give it a try. It locates in the small plaza. This is mom and pop shop that serve the Latin food. I have order the Bistec Palomilla Plain on the grill. They can prepare this flat Cuban steak in two different ways, grilled or breaded. This steak is actually a round beef steak in thin slice. The meat will be pounded to soften the tendon of the meat. You can eat with fried breaded steak plain or top with the tomato sauce. Or you can order they grilled this steak. When it is grill, it can top with the grilled onion make this steak very desirable. Some may ask to add the sunny side up egg. You can break the egg yolk and allow it as a dip with the steak. Yummm. I prefer grill since I have live in Miami. The steak is very traditional Latin meal for Cuban. The restaurant is quiet but we have good lunch there. The service is good.

A Gem We passed by this place on the way to the beach. Precious noticed it. We love to eat cuban food anytime we're within driving distance of a cuban restaurant so we stopped in one afternoon on our way home from sunworshipping. It was a great surprise. This has all the usual cuban menu items from ropa vieja to cuban sandwiches even the legendary medianoche sandwich to the roast pork and maduros fritos. I got the medianoche, and Precious got the roast pork. The medianoche was good. It love it. The roast pork was just so tender and succulent, and the maduros were sweet and flavorful. We were also served some bread with a unique sauce. This sauce was olive oil, oregano, some kind of garlic, and some other spices, the type of sauce that they serve in italian restaurants and in Bone Fish. But it had it's own unique twist, and we were not able to reverse engineer it. We talked to the owner, and she was not willing to give away her secret, but it was fun trying to decipher her facial expressions when we wee guessing what was in it. We'll probably try to make something similar at home one day. The food was so good that we came back the next day and got a couple of orders that we put in the fridge. We unfortunately had plans to eat with someone else that day, but over the weekend we reheated those orders and love 'em. This is a great restaurant. GREAT!!!

Outstanding restaurant, best Cuban Cuisine in the Bradenton, Palmetto, Anna Maria area. The restaurant is small but seating is very comfortable. It is spotlessly clean. I've had the ropa vieja, palomilla steak, maduros, black beans and yucca fries, all are delicious and expertly prepared. 100% authentic food. The owners work there daily and their dedication shows.

One of my favorite little secrets in Palmetto! The food is fresh, the facility clean and the owners are so nice. I usually have a Cuban with a side of black beans and rice, but friends I have brought have had other traditional Cuban items and they have loved it.

It is a very clean restaurant with delightful owner's. The food is not authentic, but has an enjoyable American texture. The coladas are made with American beans not cuban or columbian. The coffee is as watered down as traditional American coffee is. All the sides we had (yellow rice, black rice, and yucca) can be considered authentic Cuban. Roasted pork was heavily greased and not slow cooked the way it is designed to be. Palomia steak with fried eggs was not skirted it was cut thick to appeal to the traditional American taste palette it needed to entertain. I would still recommend this restaurant to people who have never been to Cuba, since I love Media Noches and it is hard to screw those up. My companion I dined there with was born and raised in Cuba and had nothing nice to say about the food.

We split a meal of pork with fried yucca and fried sweet plantain. We ordered take out. When we opened the meal we were blessed by a delicious, comfort food soup, the meat was well seasoned, thick-sliced, and moist. The fried (deep fried) yucca had a wonderful texture and flavor, much better than french fried potatoes. The sweet plantain was a nice contrast to the savory elements in the meal. There was so much pork that we have some remaining to make into a sandwich tomorrow. I would go there again, even if it was just for the soup. Delicious.

Great food friendly service. Small place but definitely coming back. May not be 100% authentic but as close as you will find in this area. Big portions and great price.

This place is a gem. The portions are large and the food is very good. I recommend the roast pork with chimi, fried yucca, fried yellow plantains, and congri with is a mix of rice and beans cooked together. I have had palomilla steak which came topped with a nice pile of grilled onions. The steak was a bit fibrous for my taste but the flavor was good. I have also had the Cuban sandwich which was good but I can't say it's the 'best' I have ever had. The old faithful is the roast pork. It's tender and delicious every time.

The Grilled portobella with swiss cheese was excellent. We Had authentic tostones and yucca frittas also. I definitely recommend going here for good tasting, authentic Cuban food.

Perhaps the best Cuban and South Am. food I have ever had!! Picadillo was awesome, and my wife had the palamillo steak which was excellent. The boiled Yucca w/ mojo was superb, and all portions were huge!! My wife has had there cubans in the past and raved about them, which is why we visited. Their Chimichurri was very tasty as well, excellent compliment to the toasted bread. Place is very clean, owners very nice, and took the time to answer my questions about the menu and how the items are prepared. I would surely recommend this place, as it is rare that all items we try during a visit at an establishment are out of this world. I cannot wait to return!!

The milanesa (meat) was fantastic. The cheese provoleta excellent. Planning to come back many times, even though is bit far for us. Prices also very good.

This is a great place for Cuban and Latin American cuisine. It was reasonably priced, I paid $12-13 for a dinner sized portion of grilled chicken, arroz and maduros and then flan for dessert. Most Cuban places only give 3-4 maduros as a side they gave me 9. I spent all day waiting for dinner time so I could eat my leftovers. If you are ever in Sarasota, Bradenton or Ellenton it is well worth the drive for lunch.
