Went here for a anniversary dinner. Everything was great, food was fantastic. We had appetizers of oyster Rockefeller and French onion soup which was fantastic. Then out main dishes of the New York strip and salmon. Both great, the steak was absolutely perfect and juicy and came with a baked potato. And the salmon was fresh and tasty. Ended up doing desert too of the banana bread pudding which was also good. Service was great she got everything right and she was attentive. But she seemed very uptight and was scared of making mistakes. And it was slow at the time and I saw bussers making circles around the restaurant. I think I saw the same busser pass our table 5 times. I'm guessing there's a strict manager around or something but it was a bit uncomfortable imo seeing this. Although. Food was great. I will be returning.

Sadly, our party of four came here upon reading a review . Our experience was so terrible that I would never wish it on another patron and none of us will ever return. We had one in our party who ordered a medium-rare steak. It came out well-done and the manager (one of the sons, I discovered) said it was the lighting and we must be confused. Our salads were soggy and not fresh, the other orders tasted like they came out of a can, and the service was unfriendly. The worst part was the management attitude: it seemed the manager couldn't care less about our business - he told us to pay our bill and leave although we tried to discuss the issues with him. This place is outdated and the food is overrated. Never again.

Excellent all around. Waitress was very sweet to our 4 year old. All our meals were top notch and affordable. Best prime rib I've had in a long time.

Another stop on our winter Florida vacation. Nice selection on the menu. Fair prices. Excellent service. I had probably one of the best pieces of salmon I've ever had. It was cooked perfectly! Melt in your mouth texture and buttery taste. Chowder very good. Decor is a little dated, but that didn't have any effect of the food. Pricing fair for most items. Crab legs for market price were high. $50 bucks? No thanks. All in all it was a good experience.

I had the best seafood and enjoyed every bite. You can't go wrong with the bass and lump crab. The owners are super nice. I'm from Texas and will come back again. Take a dessert home which is worth the price. The carrot cake was huge.

The tempo between drinks, appetizers , salad and entrance was quite nice! 1 they treat us a free bottle of champion since it was my mom 's birthday !! 2 the steak is very good quality and it cooked just right . 3 the waitress is very friendly and professional . Highly recommend for this restaurant !

I am a member of a group of friends that monthly eat together at a restaurant we select that none of us have eaten before. Saturday night, we went to Rosebud's Steak and Seafood house in Osprey. This is another restaurant that is supposed to be well known for their prime rib. As a salad comes with the meals, either a side salad or a Caesar salad, we all started with salads. Those that had the Caesar salad said that they were quite good. As for the side salads, we were all in agreement that we would ask for the dressing on the side next time. The salads were pretty well drenched. Four people did order the prime rib and were extremely satisfied. The meat was flavorable and there was not a lot of fat. One person, who has lived in SW Florida since before Charley, said it was the best he has had since moving here. My wife compared it to the prime rib at Prime Time. One of our party ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It was served closer to rare. It was taken back to the kitchen and returned fairly quickly, but this time it was about medium rare. Instead of sending it back again, she ate it. I ordered the Top sirloin with fried shrimp. I ordered my steak medium-well. It was served well done. Since you can't "uncook" a steak, and I didn't want to wait for them to cook a new one, I ate it as is. It was well seasoned, but a little tough, due to the way it was cooked. The accompanying fried shrimp were HUGE, and very good. The one person who didn't order a steak decided to try the Mandarin peanut chicken, listed under "Chef Specialties". It came with an orange sauce, which, like the salad dressings, drenched the meal. Other than that, it was reported that it tasted good, however, she wouldn't order it again. The consensus is that we would return, but mainly for the prime rib.

Went with a large party of 8; the restaurant was able to accommodate a reservation at a normal dinner hour! Almost all of us had prime rib, which everyone enjoyed. My grandmother had the top sirloin, crab cake and shrimp; she loved everything but the crab cake. She said it had a lot of filler and felt like they tried to trick you into thinking it had more crab by making it "more crab tasting". The baked potatoes were good and I had the sautéed mushrooms which had a good taste but were less than room temperature when I got them. Overall the food was good although the restaurant was a little crowded.

I wish I didn't have to give any stars. My husband and I were excited to take our out of town guest there for dinner. When we arrive the special was lamb shank plus their fabulous prime rib - have eaten it before. When we were seated the table was still dirty and sticky from previous guests. We asked it be cleaned. Then we were told the was no prime rib- they were out of it at 6;30pm. No croquette potatoes either. When I ordered a $7 chocolate martini it was only half full and when I shook the last into my drink glass the top came off and splashed everywhere! They brought another and then tried to charge me for the spilled drink. My guest ordered the lamb shank - a Sunday special- rare with the potatoes and mint jelly. I came well done with GRAVY on the lamb. Of course it was the last order. She ordered the lamb chops, again rare with mint jelly. When that came they were very well done, hard and unconsumable. They did finally bring the baked potato. The lamb was not on the bill but at $100 for 2 people to eat and such poor service and issues overall we were going to book our Christmas Eve dinner at Rosebuds but not now. We will find another restaurant.

If you're looking for good food this is your stop. Honestly, being from California it is rare that you ever find a steakhouse that is reasonably priced with decent food. Rosebud's was all of that and more. Excellent food with friendly service and fairly priced. We ordered the prime rib with New England clam chowder, a house salad and steak fries. We added extra sides: sautéed mushrooms and grilled onions. Let me just tell you it was all FANTASTIC! Even the bread was warm, fresh baked sourdough that is always a soft spot. Topped it off with an in house made sangria that was perfect. When the dessert platter came out there wasn't room, but it all looked excellent as well. Thank you rosebuds for making a meal that satisfied the soul and taste buds!

Recently remolded, family owned with great service and something on the menu for all ages.

The prime rib was really good but the service left us wanting. Rosebuds tried for a fine dining atmosphere but lacked the ability to give a fine dining experience. The tab was the only thing one would expect at a fine dining establishment. The duck was so dry that it was difficult to swallow. Management was invisible even after two people in our party complained about the duck.

I would give this place NO stars if I could! Walked in and was ignored by staff. When we inquired about a waiting list, the server ignored us and when we asked again, rudely told us to go speak with another server about it. Waited for 45 minutes for our table and the last straw was when a party of 6 drove in and were seated right away - after we stood around waiting. Mind you, there are NO reservations allowed for the bar dining area where we were... Not one employee bothered to acknowledge our presence or ask us if we would like a drink while we waited. WILL NOT be going back - ever. I am a year round resident and I guess they figured we were "tourists" and they could get away with their behavior. If this restaurant wants to survive during the off season, they may want to change their attitude. I will advise my friends and family to spend their dollars elsewhere. We ended up going to "waterfront too" where they welcomed us with open arms. Their prime rib was Excellent and cheaper than rosebuds, to boot! And the staff was prompt, friendly and VERY nice and attentive! So long rosebuds - you just lost a year round customer of 13 YEARS.

Steaks are amazing!! Better quality than Ruths Chris right up the street and much cheaper. Service excellent, great drinks and save room for dessert, the carrot cake is large enough for four

We went here for dinner after our wedding. It was about 4pm, so we were there with the early bird crowd. We were seated immediately. Our server (Richard) was attentive without being intrusive, and was probably the most professional server we've had in recent memory. All six in our group were very happy with our food. Portions were plentiful but not huge. Salads were adequate but nothing to shout about. I ordered a pineapple mojito, which was a first time thing for me. It was not only delicious, but beautiful to look at. The beer list is short, and all bottled, no draft. There's a nice wine list. Ask to see the dessert tray, if they don't bring it by. My word -- it is amazing. We were too full to get any of it though. This will be on our must-visit list when we come back to the area.

First of all, the salads are served on a chilled personalized plate, how cool is that. Their homemade blue cheese is absolutely delicious. Loved our entrees, and then had a "hugegantic" piece of carrot cake. Too much even for me but got to take some home and enjoyed it the next day. The chef definitely has the touch.

I am a pilot and I eat at local restaurants all over the country. This is one of the best if not the best. I have eaten many of the menu items and it is all great. Love the prime rib, all the seafood is great quality and prepared perfectly. The prices are what you would expect for the quality of food you get. ($15.00-$30.00). When you sit in the bar the people are very friendly and the bartenders are the best. Don't pass this place up.

I have to laugh at some of these other reviews for Rosebuds like: "The crime brûlée topping was bad and it was burned a little to much" - that creme brulee must have committed a very serious crime for Rosebud's to be rated just (1) star. I've eaten in a lot of steakhouses over the years and some were better than Rosebuds for sure but many were not nearly as good. They deliver a quality product and excellent service at a very reasonable price. For all the negative reviewers here - you want good steak go to New York City spend $100 per person and enjoy. But, for my money I'll take Rosebuds any day. And finally for the lady that complained "As a middle-aged woman, I felt practically young again eating here" - gee... better luck the next time, hope you can find a restaurant that makes you feel old.

My husband and I have been to Rosebud's quite a few times. My husband gets the prime rib each time. He says that it is the best. I've had several items on the menu, but I think my favorite is the duck. It was very moist and delicious. And better yet, I didn't have to prepare it. I'm gluten sensitive so I can't eat the bread, but my husband says it is the best bread. The wait staff has ranged from not so good to excellent. We tend to go early, especially during season, to avoid the wait.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt the best service I have experienced in this area this season. Congratulations to waitress Buki and the rest of the service staff. Food was good - nothing out of the ordinary - but certainly worth the price. This restaurant does it right.

The prime rib, NY strip, and sea bass were all really well cooked and delicious. However, the duck was extremely over cooked which made it difficult to eat. After telling the server, on two separate occasions, the duck was overcooked while still having more than half the entrée untouched on the plate when he removed it from the table not a single manager came to check on the table. We also had empty glasses of water and tea the entire dinner. In addition to the awful service, which they're proud of by adding 20% tip to a table of 6 or more, they had a special New Year's Eve menu which essentially just took a few of the regular menu items and added 10-12 dollars.

I would rate this 3.5 stars....depending upon who you ask, Rosebuds diners' opinions range from good to bad. The staff are personable, friendly, and consistently attentive to your needs. I tend to request specific wait staff, as I have been dining here for a few years. When ordering, first consideration should be a featured "daily special" and they usually offer a variety of items. The chicken pot pie is good...hearty with large chunks of chicken and vegetables. Crust is very light. From the menu, the glazed salmon is good, house steak salad, sauteed crusted fish...though good tasting, the prime rib is excessively fatty (again in my opinion); top sirloin is a better choice. Vegetables tend to be always overcooked, recommend simple baked potato; salad with meal is a better choice. Fairly quiet adult dining though usually crowded because they offer early dinner and drink specials. There is a bar with seating and a separate dining room. Not a chain type atmosphere with families and small children.

Rosebuds was a lovely restaurant with good food and excellent service. The waitress was very smart, attentive and helpful. The homemade salad dressing was amazing and my carrot cake was one of the best I've had. My entree, rigatoni bolognese, was lackluster - almost tasted as if from a can - but all my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed their dinners: sea bass, chicken francese. Next time I will choose something other than pasta.

Just a couple of things need to change to make this a much better restaurant. 1) they should offer the 2-4-1 drink special throughout the restaurant... Not just the bar area. 2) they should not heat the bread in a microwave. That makes the bread very tough. 3) the salad should be prepared an hour or two before dinner.... Not the previous day. The salad was wilted and had too much salad dressing. Otherwise, the hostess and waiters are very good!

Enjoyed my steak, it was the special of the night, made with olives, mushrooms, peppers and a red marinara sauce. It came with pepperoni but no problem when I asked them to make mine without. The service was great and never felt rushed. I think all 5 of us really enjoyed our dinners.

Been here more than a few times over the past seven years or so. Definitely a magnet for early bird diners. Nothing wrong with that, but the quality reflects the main customer base. The prime rib could be a better grade but is decent for the price. Skip fried seafood platters and go with broiled. Good service. Had an orange cake for dessert once that was incredible. Sadly I never have seen it since.

For being known as the elder peoples place to go. I absolutely loved it! The inside looked really nice, andthe service and wait staff were promt and knew what they were doing on a very professional level. The food was so good, probably the best steak I've had in a while. Definitley a must go.

We have been wanting to try Primos for a while now. When family came in from NY it was the perfect opportunity since we read good reviews. Being Italian and myself, my husband also. My male cousin and I both being very good cooks ourselves and my husband used to good food. OMG all of us we SO disappointing. We could have gotten better Italian food from Olive Garden!. Once I said that at the restaurant My husband said I should have mentioned that earlier they serve a lot more food and at least its edible. The food at Primos had no taste no matter how much cheese they put on the food. None of us could even finish our meals. How embarrassing to bring family from out of town there. We will be spreading the news how awful it was. There were 4 of us and we all had different meals. They were all just awful. The server was nice and the place was clean that's about all I could say. It was empty though, that should have been a clue! We will never be going there again.

As a middle-aged woman, I felt practically young again eating here. this restaraunt certainly skews older. No atmosphere, so-so food....if you don't mind being the youngest person at the restaurant and waiting quite a while for your food.....eat here. otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Have visited this area frequently for the past 32 years. Rosebud's is our favorite. Arrive by 4:30 & sit in the bar where you won't need a reservation. Many early bird great entrees if ordered by 5:30 are very reasonably priced. Sirloin steak is excellent as well as the accompanying large salads. Features of the day & fish entrees are also good. Something for everyone. Bartenders are friendly & efficient. Formal dining room is attractive.

We went for a midweek early dinner and the place was packed. This restaurant definitely caters to the senior-set, but I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that. Old people sometimes know a thing or two! Not a creative or inventive menu by any meals, but the food was decent, plentiful, and very reasonably priced. Plenty of parking, wide selection of traditional uninspired cuisine, younger servers, no booths, lots of retirees, nothing to complain about.

  • Maggie M.

I like this place when I visit here. It is super crowded, always packed, and you have to wait even if you have a reservation. The crowdedness results in the service being a little absent-minded. The prime rib is great, however. 3.5 stars.

Great restaurant between Venice and Sarasota. Great steaks, Prime Rib and some seafood but make no mistake this is primarily a steak house. Friendly and efficient staff makes for a warm and friendly dining experience. They do take reservations so no waiting for hours - even in season. Prices are very reasonable. A 10 oz filet with salad and vegetable is $25.95. Twin 8 oz lobster tails (huge) is $39.95 You cannot go wrong here!

We went for Sunday dinner and were not disappointed. Stiff drinks in the bar, awesome bread, bang bang shrimp were so crispy and hot and large... Mmmm. Want more... Hubby got king crab legs & I got the fisher mans platter. Go and conquer - leave happy.

We could walk to this so-called restaurant, so it should be a regular haunt. We had one meal there which was totally forgettable except for the price, which was somewhere in the stratosphere. The service was slow and formal, and we didn't feel welcome or even valued. We won't be back.
