There were about 4 families seated in the restaurant so it was very dead... Our food came out cold after 40 minutes of waiting. We were also told they were out of wings but the sign outside said "wings for $7.99"!! the only item hot was our sweet potatoes in tin foil. Our waitress Bridget was nice enough to bring out new food after we expressed our dismay for the cold food. We will not be back on our next vacation but our waitress was extremely helpful after our unpleasant experience.

This review is focused on Sonny's barbeque baby back ribs. To put it succinctly, they are the best in the Orlando area that can be had at a dining establishment and at a very reasonable price. I have tried the ribs at some other barbeque places in the area: Bubbalou's, 4 Rivers, Smokey Bones, Harry & Larry's, etc. 4 Rivers and Harry & Larry's serve spare ribs, not baby backs, but all of these BBQ joints are guilty of the same thing: they always overcook their ribs to get that "fall off the bone" characteristic and that is not "good eats," as Alton Brown likes to say. Some of the racks at these places also had far too much fat on them that did not render away during the cooking process. At Sonny's, the baby back ribs are smoked with real wood for several hours and grilled before serving so that they are heated and given a little char. The meat tears cleanly off the bone as you bite and this is what constitutes a perfectly cooked rib. The ribs all appear to be trimmed of fat before they are cooked as I haven't yet had a rack that had copious or even moderate amounts of gristle. The full slab with two sides and garlic bread is only $14.99. By comparison, the full rack of overcooked baby backs at Smokey Bones is $23.49. Do your taste buds and wallet a favor. The ribs come to the table already sauced, and there are four bottles of BBQ sauce varieties already at your table. If you want to try one of these sauces with your ribs, or if you want to make your own choice on how much sauce to add, then ask your server not to have the ribs sauced before they are brought to you so can make your own choice.

Have been going to this Sonny's BBQ since i have been in Florida. It has had excellent food, good service and has always been clean and offered good value, until the past year. I have avoided Sonny's lately since I did not feel they have been doing as good as in the past. Yesterday, my wife son and i decided to give it one more chance. I decided to have the sliced pork lunch sandwich with the salad bar and my wife had the pulled pork big deal and my son had a pulled pork sandwich with salad bar. It was a mistake. Our waitress was extremely non attentive. I think her mind was on something else. The plates for the salad bar didn't arrive until after the meal. The pork was dry and the salad bar has changed. Many of the items are now chopped up instead of merely sliced. I prefer sliced, seems a lot fresher. Asked for ice water with lemon - no lemon. I can say, at least the place seemed clean. But prices have been steadily rising. Over $7 for a pork sandwich with no sides plus tip? Salad bar is over $4 extra. Sonny's appears to be having trouble finding their way. I used to go to Sonny's for the good service, good food and reasonable prices. Over the past year it seems there are fewer reasons to go there. I think this will be my last visit. Sorry Sonny's. I think you need to focus on the basics , such as training your staff and food quality, instead of installing TVs and offering egg rolls. The food and service quality was not worth the money.

This was our goto Sonny's in back in high school and when we lived closer to this area. It's still reliably good although it can be hit or miss on the service. I can't say I've tried the brisket or BBQ pork since the hubs eats pork and I'm a big baby and only eat chicken. He does love it though. Apparently the portions have gotten smaller though. I usually will end up getting something that never disappoints me chicken tenders, french fries, garlic bread, and baked beans. You can't really mess any of that up. The reason to really come here is their sweet sauce which we put on EVERYTHING. Yes, you can also buy it separately too at many grocery stores around here. The folks there are always friendly when we go and waiters typically on their game. Although our last visit one waitress was chatting pretty loudly with the guests at the booth next to us about a politically sensitive topic that left me a bit uncomfortable as she just wouldn't stop talking about it or even checking on her other tables lol.

Southern hospitality inside a small BBQ shop. So my friend Ron suggested this place as the BBQ place to go, but what does he know about BBQ? About as much as he knows about any other food, which is absolutely nothing. I felt the meat lacked that fall off the bone quality, and that lick your fingers reaction when you really like the sauce. Without the sauce, well, your BBQ is just plain, in my opinion. The sides were unimpressive. I had the broccoli which tasted raw, and the corn on the cob which needed more butter. If you REALLY have to have BBQ come here, but it isn't award winning or worth the out of the way drive to check this place out. And well, it is a BBQ chain too, which tells you that it's isn't a mom and pop shop.

It was my first time trying Sonny's and I must say that I enjoyed it. This location offers a drive thru, which was really convenient. I ordered the pork 3 ways. Consisting of ribs, pulled pork, and sliced pork. I enjoyed both the pulled pork and ribs, but wasn't really feeling the sliced pork. There was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The garlic bread that accompanied it was fantastic! I also had Mac and cheese as a side. I thought it was good. The drive thru was quick and easy and my service was great. Overall, I was pleased and would definitely return.

Really not a BBQ place. Smokehouse meats yes but no BBQ to it. It was recommended to me but honestly go somewhere else. Dried out smoke brisket, chicken was over cooked and baked beans tasted straight from a can. This is really a fast food place labelled as a restaurant and BBQ pit. I recommend the owner go visit and eat the food. I am sure this restaurant has BBQ origins but it gone way off course and not in a good direction.

As usual the food is good, however the service is more than lacking. Our server, Amanda, seems as though we are inconveniencing her to come have dinner. Didnt offer more sides on the all you can eat no drain refills, less than attentive is an understatement.

My first time trying Sonny's and I'll be back! I had the pulled pork as a meal, it came with 2 sides plus cornbread and a sweet tea for under $8!!! The pulled pork was juicy and tender Plus there's the choice of 4 different BBQ sauces right at your table to top off your BBQ experience! Try the Smoky and the sizzlin sweet!!!! As sides the coleslaw is ultra creamy, the Mac and Cheese was delish and the cornbread was moist and sweet! Hubby had the slices pork sandwich on a bun, it's was tender and tasty too! It only came with one side so he got fries (boring) I know he was super jealous of my side choices when the food came! Sundays is all you can eat bbq chicken for $9.99, there's other daily specials too! Try this place, you won't be disappointed!

The food is delicious...best bbq chicken! However, EVERY TIME I go thru the drive thru, they make a mistake on my order...EVERY TIME! I went there tonight, got my order & drove away, only to discover my fried okra was missing. Drove back around, & had to wait almost 20 minutes for it.......smh...

Out of ribs.out if brisket. What? It's a BBQ restaurant. I tried to drive through the drive through and a pallet of wood was blocking the drive thru.i had to back out of the drive thru and go inside. A total inconvenience. Sorry sonny's but you have totally gone way down hill at this location.

Sonny's isn't the gold standard for dining out, but I've never been disappointed here. The ribs are consistently tender, the pork is sliced thin and super tasty, and the cornbread-oh, the cornbread, is warm sweet, and delicious. Portions are adequate and the service is generally good.

We visited Sonny's with a group of 14, so some trouble is to be expected. I was really unimpressed by our server, just very little personality, a little shy maybe? And Sonny's... don't give the guy with a table of 14 other tables to serve. That's just not fair. Our food took a VERY long time to come out. The appetizers (4 orders of corn nuggets) all came out at different times. The kids meals came out last. (Always feed the kids first! They get vicious when they're hungry!) So yeah, service was underwhelming. Everyone in our party seemed very happy with the food. Most of our group is from out of town and they consider Sonny's to be a Florida treat, so they were really happy. I go to Sonny's often enough to know what to expect... I had pulled chicken, which was more like chicken chunks and had some fat to it, which was just gross. I only ate a little bit of it. Not good. So, Sonny's as a chain I love. This location I would probably not visit again.

I always give Sonny's a chance due to my boyfriends love for the place, but it seems like every time they just don't make me a fan. We arrived and were seated quickly. The first table they went to seat us at was still dirty so they shifted us to a new table. Sadly this moved us to a new section and I spent the entire meal wishing we had been at the dirty table in Sipp's section. He made sure his guests constantly were getting refills... they got 2 refills before we even got our first meal. The food was okay. The corn nuggets were tasty and fresh but the bread and fries were cold and soggy. The ribs were great and I wish I had stuck with them instead of the brisket. Overall, I don't see a reason to return to Sonny's... at least not anytime soon,

Sonny's, usually a fair bet in my experience. Even when you don't go in. Ordered 1/2 lb pulled brisket and 1/2 lb. pulled pork and a cold slaw at the lunch hour. No I'm not a glutton, the "other 1/2" was for my dinner by the tiki torches in the back yard. Left to fend for myself for dinner tonight and just not in a chef's mood. (Ha! you missed a cool evening with me, Maker's Mark, La Gloria and Rare Earth!) Their pulled brisket is pretty good. Just a little sweet - but tasty to my palate. Afraid it might spike the insulin but, hell I gotta eat something. Do it naked - no need for other sauce IMO. The pulled pork- well past experience taught me you need something to keep it moist in the mouth,. A little of this and a little of that (slaw) on the fork and - yuumy for the thinning out tummy. Correct not diabetic, just losing weight while eating the things I love most- ANIMAL PROTEINS! Sonny' s has a fair smoker since the Smoky Bones closed up on Sand Lake, they have to do; and do pretty well. Cold slaw, well, I'd prefer dryer and less sweet, but with pulled pork, it's the perfect twin. (more sugar in there too.) At $16.59, (no I don't tip at the freakin' drive thru window!) you understand why I had to stretch to dinner too, but hey, it was good both times. Well, didn't even ask if I want any sauces to go with all that BBQ. - Which usually isn't the case. Forgiveness is next to godliness I'm told - so yes, I still working on the godliness part. They really need to 409 their drive thru window though- or change the color from white to something else.

Text: BBQ122 To: 49798 to get $5 off any $25 purchase They really do have the best Bar-B-Que. I always prefer getting a combination of meats whether it's the ribs and pulled pork or the chicken and beef brisket, if you're really hungry you can get all four by getting the all-you-can-eat ribs. Since its the most expensive they'll bring you more of anything u ask for including the bar-b-que beans(with meat) or even the yummy Texas Toast. Also try all the different bar-b-que sauces to find what works for you, I prefer the sweet.

First, I LOVE the food. LOVE IT. I have been eating at Sonnys since the 1980's. I don't live in orlando anymore, but I visit frequently and always stop in at least once per trip. For newbies this is a good, solid choice for Florida barbeque. Not smoky and truly authentic like Red's or some of the other local spots, but a solid choice. My beef is with their all-you-can-eat tactics now.The last two times there at the SOBT location, I ordered all you can eat chicken. Food was good, but guess what. On the re-orders, the waitress went into hiding. I was so pissed off the last time. I can easily eat two plates and it is just enough. My family was tired and just wanted to get to the hotel, so I was looking and looking for the waitress for the re-order. Finally, she appeared and came back with one chicken leg and a half order of fried. Seriously? Sonnys? Is this your new policy? Charge extra for all-you-can-eat but not allow customers to re-order? I had to go to the register without a check to get out of there becase she was in hiding. I will try one more time in the near future and report back. I have a new strategy where I am going to walk up to the kitchen window to re-order and I will stand there to wait for the food. Sonny's you are close to losing a life long fan and customer. I am sure I am not the only one too. Get your act together. I hope it is only a bad manager at this location and not chain wide issues.

The baby back ribs are very tender but their regular ribs are a bit chewy. Tasty sides and good sweet tea. The food quality is consistant but the service can be anywhere from great to poor. Overall a decent place for southern BBQ.

All the Sonny's I've been in lately are rundown and just sad looking. Ratty flooring, leaking ceiling tiles, old decor and outdated bathrooms.. just plain old. If a place can't keep everything updated and in working order I would be afraid to see the kitchens! The food is good but I just can't help wondering how lax they are in food prep and cleanliness.

For BBQ I was a little disappointed. When I order ribs, as with most others out there, I love them with a lot of meat that practically falls off the bone. I didn't get that here. They were cooked decently, maybe a touch too long but that can be cured with one of the four flavors of BBQ sauce at each table. I enjoyed having the option of 4 different styles of BBQ sauce that I could add at my own discretion. The sides could use a little love, I had cornbread, mac and cheese and broccoli. The cornbread and mac and cheese tasted like generic side dishes you could find anywhere. Broccoli was also slightly overcooked. Our waiter was nice, enjoyable and knew the menu. The restaurant itself is great, in a great location, and has a great atmosphere. I feel this restaurant is not hitting its full potential; but hey, maybe I arrived on a sub par evening for them. I'd recommend at least giving it a try.

This place did not suck. I landed in Orlando in order to set out on the 2 hour grive to Gainesville. And I thought to myself: "SELF, I have a hankering for barbecue." Yelp to the rescue, plus an assist from the navigation system in my phone. Sonny's has a drive-thru! Ir gave me the brilliant idea to get my BBQ there and eat it en route to Gainesville. File that under "Plans that looked better on paper than in practice." I managed not to wreck, but the poor rental company may never get that steering wheel degreased. :D The 'cue was decent. I've certainly paid for worse. I had the "triple pork combo": pulled pork, dry rubbed ribs, and BBQ pork roast. The ribs were the best (and easiest to eat while driving, like a lollipop), but the others were tender and moist and seasoned well. It's worth giving this place a try if you're in the Land of the Mouse and need a BBQ fix.

This Sonny's did not show any good qualities for a return trip, salad bar was not kept updated with fresh items and several empty containers, meats item, brisket of beef and pulled pork were dry and tasteless, french fries had no taste and way to much garlic bread that needed help also, service was adequate. .

The service here at this location is rather slow- in the middle of our meal, our original waitress swapped with another waitress... Which is okay, but, the problem is/was the language barrier between us and our waitress. We were left to sit and wait for quite a while before our original waitress came to take our drink order and then our lunch order. After the swap, our second waitress came over to check on us to make sure that we had everything that we needed. I ordered the All You Can Eat turkey platter with fries and cole slaw. I'm truly not the biggest fan of cole slaw because of having bad experiences, however, the cole slaw here is great. My fiance ordered the pulled pork sandwich on garlic toast, which was burned.. both pieces were black on both sides (epic fail) with fries. The meats were flavorful and as always the side items are delicious. Drink wise, I originally ordered a sweet tea, but, it had a sour taste, almost like it was made first thing that morning and it was just left sitting around. My fiance ordered a strawberry lemonade which I had some of and it was yummy. We both took drinks to go and next time when we are back in the Orlando area, we will definitely stop here again.

The food here is average for a chain bbq restaurant. I prefer the side and bbq sauces offered at Red Hot and Blue. But this review is for this particular Sonny's. I've eaten here several times, and the service has generally been great. Servers are very attentive and always offer us a final drink refill in a to-go cup, which rocks -- especially since we're generally on vacation when we come here and don't have our usual selection of drinks easily on hand.

My friend was in town visiting and really wanted BBQ so we went here because it was the closest to Millenia...according to my phone. The worst mistake of my entire life. Honestly I am scarred for life and will think twice before ever eating BBQ. We both got violently sick the day after eating here with viral gastroenterits. How does one get that you ask? Well, according to the CDC: Food may be contaminated by food preparers or handlers who have viral gastroenteritis, especially if they do not wash their hands regularly after using the bathroom. Drinking water can also be contaminated by sewage and be a source of spread of these viruses. sewage water, and food preparers not washing their hands?...sounds great.

Been going to this sonny's for a couple years and until yesterday I have to give a poor rating; as they RAN OUT of baby back ribs!!! It was 12:30 in the afternoon and I would have had to wait over an hour to get these ribs, so I instead tried the sweet and smokey spare ribs and they were tastey, but dry. My mother in-law also stated her chicken was dry/over cooked. When the manager came to me to inform that they were out of baby back ribs he did not even offer a discount for the inconvenience; which it indeed was! Dan

Went to Sonny's for the first time tonight and I must say I'm pretty happy with the price you pay for the package. First off, we went on around 6:45 PM and it wasn't busy at all but the service wasn't so great - sure, the staff was friendly but considering that only 1/3 of the tables were filled and that there were at least 8 girls standing around, it's obvious that they're just slacking. My boyfriend and I had the corn nuggets as an appetizer and it was an interesting choice. We didn't finish the small plate but mostly because it was a little too much - fried anything is a little too much for me, guess I'm not as Southern as I think. I ordered the Baby back ribs and had their fresh made cole slaw and corn on the cob. They rack of baby back ribs was pretty delicious and the cole slaw is definitely one of the best I've had in a while. Corn was relatively sweet and nicely prepared. C (my boyfriend) had the brisket and it was quite delicious but rather dry for my taste. I had to douse it with the bottle of flaming sauce for my bite. To top everything off, we tried the peach cobbler. I don't know if it's me or what but I've always thought cobblers were kind of like pies and thus should have a crust in it but our dessert was only the jam part/canned peach slices and a scoop of vanilla icecream. All in all, it was definitely a lot of fun and I enjoyed my meal but probably won't get any more desserts or corn nuggets from Sonny's any time soon.

Sonny's...... whatever happened to when you were located on Oak Ridge road where the vet is now located? That's when your food was GOOD. Anymore its assembly line blah. Get'um in get'um out. I got there for lunch maybe 3 times a month because it's quick and convient. Ribs suck. Period.I dont care if they are all you can eat. Yuk! I am a fan of the sliced pork (sometimes turkey) big deal. If your lucky you will get a survey and by taking the survey your next meal is BOGO. Just be sure to set up a "survey" email account so your not inundated with Sonnys junk email.

Sllloooowwwww!!! Food was good but it took around 15 minutes to come out. Then to make things worse we sat at our table for 10 minutes waiting on a plate for the salad bar and a drink refill. Finally got up went the counter to complain about it. Afterward our waiter made sure to be attentive, to bad we were ready for the check at that point.

Generally service is mediocre; however, today service was fantastic and food was brought to the table in ~5 minutes if not less!!!!

I spent 20 years in Orlando and Sonny's Real Pit BBQ on Semoran was my FAVORITE hangout! The all-you-can-eat specials were out of this world. I bought the sauces, I bought the apron, I bought the T-Shirt. Hell, if they were selling a franchise I would have bought one of them too! So - Flash-forward. I live in LA now - land of NO BBQ. I travel to Orlando one day on business. I drag my colleagues to Semoran Blvd five hours before our flight so THEY can experience the ultimate in BBQ. We pull up - empty parking lot - hmmm.... CLOSED! SHUTTERED! My head spins - I start to black out - and as I fall face first to the ground I can smell the wood pit smoke from years and years of great eats. My tongue reaches out to taste a bit of the deliciousness I remember and all I get is asphalt and motor oil. DAMN YOU SONNY'S!! How dare you close my favorite location! BEST: Beans Garlic Bread Chicken Ribs Beef LARGEST Iced Tea in the World I wonder if they mail-order to California?

I'm not a huge BBQ fan, but this is some bomb BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, and the ribs were pretty close to perfect. The cole slaw was a little gross (a little soggy and over-mayonnaised), but all the other sides were awesome. Beer's cheap, and our waitress was friendly... And the give you a free, huge soda to go when you're done. Can't beat that!
