Cute little place for a quick breakfast. Great prices but you pay for what you get. Had the breakfast bun that was just egg bacon and cheese on a hamburger bun. The bun could have been improved but again it was like $2 so I can't complain. Very nice employees also. I'll return :)

Popped in to have breakfast before starting our day. Ordered 3 pancakes & bacon which was good. My husband ordered 2 eggs ham hash browns & toast. He couldn't eat the hash browns cuz they were deep fried so I ate those & he had one of my pancakes. Food overall was good . Very nice staff & you can't beat the price.

This place is great. The Shannon family are fine people and the food is consistently good. Every town should be lucky enough to have a restaurant like this.

Awesome little place! Really friendly service and you can smell the deliciousness from the parking lot! We just missed breakfast and had lunch but I can guarantee we'll be back!

Family run restaurant. I have been going to for about 15 years. Go for the good food and stay for the nice people. Family run.

Good food for a good price. Love their omelette! Very nice people and fast service I eat here at least 3 times a week and I've never had a bad meal yet

This is a casual place with good food and great prices. We had a family of 5 eat here for 35 dollars and the food was excellent!

I've had breakfast and dinner here...on the same day. Breakfast was great.... I love breakfast any time of the day. . Dinner was meh...I didn't like what I ordered as I am a pickey eater the dinner menu didn't do it for me. My friend however liked theirs. I also bought some of the cookies they sell at the counter and they were tasty. BTW they do take cc now

I went to Shannon's for breakfast one morning. The restaurant seemed it would be great for the locals. It's not a place I would travel across town for. The decor had all sorts of random memorabilia on the wall- signs, stuffed animals and such. You order your meal at the register and sit down at the table. The server will bring you the food at the table but if you got a drink, you served yourself at the fountain drinks. (Or grab a coffee mug and get coffee) The staff was friendly... I was with a party of six and when we saw all the tables were full, the staff were accommodating- with no hesitation, they put together three small tables together. The food was very decently priced. I had the French Toast Fingers (which were just regular French toast sticks) with sausage rounds. It was good, but nothing to rave about. Nothing special at all. I could have made it at home. *shrug* It was okay.

First off, this restaurant is not named after one person named Shannon (which is what I thought I was). It's a family name. I went there today because I was really craving a good chicken salad melt. It was not the traditional mayonnaise-y chicken salad, which was fine with me, although a little runny. It definitely had a nice flavor to it but I couldn't quite place it. And the sandwich was very melty, just the way any melt should be. The staff was super friendly. It wasn't the cleanest, but hey, it's a diner! I would definitely go back. Thursday is their night for corned beef and cabbage and I would like to try that! Pies looked good too.

After two visits, I'm the duke of this diner on South South Orange Avenue. Mr. Shannon is a fine-looking fellow, but counter-ordering takes away from the diner experience.

I stopped in here for the first time on Friday for breakfast. I was having my car worked on at Ron-Jon's Automotive, which is just down the street. When asked if I would be waiting there while my car was being worked on, I told the service attendant that I was looking to go have breakfast while waiting. I inquired as to whether there was a place nearby that serves breakfast, and he recommended Shannon's. It was within five minutes walking distance. But have you ever tried to use the cross walks at Orange Avenue and Holden Avenue? Talk about an adventure for pedestrians! Give yourself a few minutes just in wait time after you press the button for the crossing signal. Then you get 30 seconds to cross, and that timer moves fast! And you know that there is always that one driver looking to make a right hand turn on red giving you the evil eye. Anyway, after crossing the street safely and making my way into Shannon's, I approached the counter and gave them my order. After you give the server your order and pay for your meal, you are then told to serve yourself to the beverages around the corner of the register to the left, and your order will be brought out to your table. I grabbed a cup of coffee and a glass of ice water and selected my table right across from the counter. There is a larger dining area on the other side of the restaurant where several other diners sat. From the looks of things, Shannon's Casual Cafe has a good thing going, especially with the locals. The breakfast menu consists of breakfast sandwiches, a three pancake platter, French toast platter, two eggs platter, and a three egg omelet. Bacon, ham, and sausage are offered with the platters. On the egg platters, grits or hash browns and toast are offered. I ordered two eggs with sausage, hash browns, and toast. The cost is $4.79. With coffee, the bill came up to a little over $6.00. A good price for a good breakfast. My food was served in a timely manner, and was delivered to my table hot. Although my breakfast was good, I had two problems concerning my meal and menu selection. With the two eggs platter, you are given a choice of either hash browns or grits. I ordered the hash browns, which happened to be the hash rounds, those little tater-tot like potato bites. The hash rounds were good and hot, but I was thinking more in the lines of the shredded potato hash browns. On my next visit, I will most likely go with the grits. Second, I was disappointed that I did not see pancakes listed on the menu for breakfast sides. I like to get a side of pancakes when I go out for breakfast, and most restaurants offer pancakes on the side. When I asked the waitress about this, she informed me that they could do a combo with pancakes if I liked. So the next time I am here, I will have to remember that. Shannon's is not close to where I live. But if I am in the area, I would stop in again for breakfast. Shannon's is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and serving lunch and dinner. Salads, sandwiches, and burgers are served, along with platters featuring fried clams, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, fried cod, and catfish fingers. I noticed that wings are on the menu. So I may have to stop in one evening and try some Buffalo wings. There is also an area serving ice cream, whether it be cones, sundaes, or shakes. Dinners are served from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Daily dinner specials are also featured. As for the dining area, the tables are clean, as well as the counter/kitchen areas and the bathrooms. Service is friendly and helpful with any questions you have regarding the menu. The decor has a homey feeling to it, and even the diners are friendly. How can you have a bad breakfast when you have a child saying hello and waving to you and other diners while she is waiting at the counter with her mother? I think that is a great way to start the day. Don't you?

Ah, Shannon's. How you're so...unappealing. This review is incredibly late as I ate there probably over a month ago. First off, I'd have to say that the staff was very friendly, which I like. Helping us decide what to get since this was our first visit, and even letting us order and then run to the bank to get cash since they don't accept credit cards (PS who doesn't take credit cards these days??). The food was, well, meh. Avereage to say the least. I had the pulled pork, along with mashed potatoes and gravy. The pork was dry, and even after dousing it with bbq sauce I still found it bland. The mashed potatoes and gravy were sort of flavorless, and I don't even recall if I bothered finishing them. I'm glad we only went because we had a coupon. Seeing as how they're close to our home, it would have been nice to have a decent little diner to eat at from time to time. But I don't think that's going to happen.

We used a BOGO coupon to check this place out. I had their meatloaf special with corn, baked potato and a roll. I liked the meatloaf but everything else was a little bland. If you couldn't guess from the name, they're pretty casual - so it's an OK spot for something quick, affordable and simple. They only take cash/check which totally caught me off guard so we had to run to the bank to pick up some money after we placed our order. The service is very friendly and it seems like lots of locals come there often and know each other. I may come back to try a burger based on the reviews but, like Annabelle S. , it just doesn't do it for me.

Wonderful food, quick service and really nice folks that run this place. Order the blueberry pie with ice cream....yum!

I actually really like this place. It's a homestyle cooking sort of place that tends to be favored by locals in teh neighborhood, mostly senior citizens, but thats ok. I think they have some of the best burgers in town imho. I usually get the Cafe Burger Basket w/ fries and potato salad (only $5!) I haven't tried many of their other items but I do like their Buffalo Wings.

The guys at my office and I eat at Shannon's pretty regularly, although I must admit that I only get the tuna melt. I'm pretty picky about tuna fish but Shannon's is quite tasty when they toast the rye bread and add cheese. My friend usually gets the taco salad or whatever is on special and my boss orders the burger every time. It's a great little cafe for a quick bite with friendly service. They also offer an extensive ice cream/shake menu that includes a wide variety of topping choices.

Shannon's Casual Cafe has been in this small business center for many years and has a very loyal local clientele. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. seven days a week. There are always specials on the board and the prices here are VERY reasonable. Most specials include the meal and a drink. Jim Shannon and his son, Colin, seem to have done it right with pretty much everything. I have never had a disappointing meal there and most items are made from scratch from the breakfast corned beef hash that is served on weekends to the soups (Hungarian beef is my favorite) to the Thursday night corned beef and cabbage special to Monday's meatloaf and Sunday's turkey dinner. There is a special every night for dinner (all under $10) in addition to the regular menu items. In addition, Shannon's serves Blue Bell ice cream specialties which have names that locals can relate to. Atmosphere is very eclectic (don't get your hopes up) and you order at the counter and your food is brought to your table. In this shaky economy, Shannon's keeps plugging along serving good comfort food at price which will give you enough change to get some of their pie or ice cream.

Think alot of you have probably figured out that, when I'm in the mood for it, I like good home style cooking. Unfortunately, Shannons just doesn't do it for me. I've eaten here several times and I find that anything I try is just bland. It's not that its bad- there is just no flavor. I mean how can that be? To be fair though the servers are wonderful and the decor is cool- kinda kitschy memorabilia. BUT it's not enough for that 3 star ranking. Now- I have a co-worker who swears by this place and must eat here at least 3 times a week. Beware though- cash/check only. I'll drive the extra 2 blocks to Sharons Place!

I think this place is pretty good for what it is. I always enjoy the breakfast, which is perfect at a homestyle place like this. Lunch and dinner food is just kind of "meat and potatoes" style food. They have a good blackened fish that is nice as a dinner or a sandwich with fries. The Turkey dinner and mashed potatoes, squash and soup of the day are pretty good too. Nothing is that unique, but if you like general american type food you will like this place. I do like that one of the owners is always working at the front of the store. The food is also cheap! Yay! Last, they do not take credit or debit cards. Only cash.
