Let's start with the 1st time I was ever there. Big, warm, professional yet humble welcome I was greeted with from every staff member. Kitchen was closed but they still did their best get to get me a bite to eat. Every staff member is knowledgable, smiley, clean cut and just plain nice! Good food, good prices and clean establishment. Floridas not known for its "southern hospitality" but if a place in Florida had to be an example of that, it would be here at Ollie's!!!

Ollie's is one of my favorite casual grub spots in College Park. They have amazing Pita Pizzas, and great sandwiches. One of my favorites is the Legend. In a perfect world they would have more side options to accompany your sandwich, since plain chips is about it, but their jar of pickles quickly makes you forget about the lack of side item varieties. They have a decent selection of beers and a small cocktail menu. Service is sometimes lacking, but overall pretty decent. I did have a waitress make fun of me for taking a picture of my food, but perhaps she doesn't realize the power of visual marketing to her prospective guests through social media. If you order something to pick up check it before you leave, as we've has many errors. It is a sports bar at heart, and definitely can attract an annoying, loud, smokey crowd; so if that's not your scene stay away from this place on big game days. If you are into that, there are plenty of tv's to watch your event on. Overall, for the price, the food quality hardly ever disappoints.

This was my first time at Ollie's. I stopped by after work with some friends for a beer and an appetizer. I ordered a bottle beer for $2.50 so the happy hour pricing on alcohol is about average. I had the spinach artichoke dip and didn't like it. I shared with a friend and she didn't care for it either but not bad enough to send back. The chips were stale and the dip was watery. My other friend ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza and that was great. Lots of flavor and enough for us to share.

Ollie's has three things going for it: Atmosphere Pickles Drinks So a star for each of those. But frankly, I'm sorry to say the food just kind of sucks. Harsh, I know but I've tried to like it and I really just can't. If I'm going to pay for someone else to make my meal I'd like it to be something I couldn't make myself for $2. Their food just tastes like my college cooking. Nothing exciting, nothing seasoned, nothing that I couldn't make with a loaf of bread from publix. Bland, bland, boring and a couple times not even cooked long enough. I really hate writing bad reviews but I gave it about four-five shots in hopes that maybe I just went on an off day or ordered the wrong thing, but had the same experience with the food every time. But I'll end on a positive note. Definitely go for drinks and to hang out with your friends! Outside seating is great. Pickles are great, and pickle back shots are great!

Ollie's is right across the street from my apartment. I head over whenever I just want a beer OR a sandwich OR an awesome flatbread pizza... Or really any other time I have nowhere to go. The service is usually pretty good. They have a lot of life music... which is sometimes really annoying to me because I don't like music I didn't ask for. However, sometimes it's cool and the singers are very talented. Ollie's isn't my favorite bar in Orlando, but probably in my top 5.

I went here for the first time the other day with a group from work. We made a reservation since we had about 10 people, but it wasn't very crowded. We got the s'mores as an appetizer. Yeah that's right. It's built for two people but works well for four. Everyone gets one. And it's a real Hershey bar! You toast the marshmallow over a sterno, smush between the graham crackers along with the chocolate. Heaven. For my meal, I got the pepperoni pizza. It was delicious. The pepperoni's were huge! It's a thin crust. It wasn't too much food. I was a little bummed that I didn't have enough left for a doggie bag. The only downside was the table was a little sticky. My napkin literally got stuck. So maybe don't each off the of the table. I noticed they have something called dirty shots.. if you figure that is, let me know.

Went this afternoon with my hubby and 8 month old and loved it. We haven't been to this location since it was Jax's and were very pleased. We ordered the hummus appetizer and my husband and I both ordered the same salad- the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. I added grilled shrimp to nine and it was delicious. Our server was very nice and helped us pick out our choices. We will definitely come back again.

I used to come here when it was Jax. I swear it's the same menu and most of the same drinks. I don't know if it's different owners or they just changed the name. I saw other reviews say it's different owners, so I guess they just continued on with the Jax tradition of pickles and pizzas?! I still like the vibe and atmosphere of the place. They can accommodate larger groups of 10 or more people, and have no problem splitting the bills. The waitresses are nice. I still enjoy their pizzas, subs, and of course their giant pickles. There are a some TV's around to catch some games, but not many. And there is a nice craft beer selection, plus a full bar with interesting drinks to try. For example, I had a Pumpkin bomb, which was a Pumpkinhead beer with a shot of Baily's. You can sit outside with a covered patio. I've biked here with a group, and we kept our bikes unchained next to us while sitting outside. I've mostly come here on Sundays, and it hasn't been terribly busy that we can't get seats, especially with the big crowds I've come with.

Stopped in today for a quick bite at lunch while in Orlando. Service was great, waitress was very pleasant. My buddy said everything he's ever tried was great so I went for the "Philly". Sandwich was great but did not resemble that of a traditional Philly. All in all. I was pleased and would recommend them. Prices were reasonable, give em a try....

Yes, the old Jax is now Ollie's Public House in College Park, sister of Finnhenry's in downtown Orlando. They took over this spot a bit ago and haven't had their official grand opening yet but I had a great experience this weekend; seems like things are moving along great. We sat outside on the patio since it was gorgeous out. They have a half covered, half open patio with a large amount of tables and even a big screen TV outside! A great spot to grab a drink and just relax. The view isn't anything to write home about but it's a great little neighborhood so just sit back and chat with your company or mix and mingle. Drunken Arnold Palmer's, yes please! One of the features on their cocktail menu. They are sneaky though, be careful... yes, sneaky in a good way. I went with the Turkey Wrap and it was delicious. They did not skimp on the filling and the cold cuts were extremely fresh and tasty. Came with a side of crinkle cut chips and of course the pickles for the table are always delicious. They come in a mason jar and are crisp and yummy! Good selection of cider, beer and cocktails. The parking is limited though, not always fun to find a spot when they are packed. This is the ultimate sports bar or spot if you want to grab a good bite to eat. Check it out!

Terrible experience. Ordered a shrimp poboy with the "recommended" potato salad.. Came out a cold, lots of mayonnaise, shrimp salad on a bun.. Potato salad salty, cold and over mayonnaised as well. Tasted disgusting. Reluctantly, we sent it back and decided to leave. We were charged for our side we didn't eat, that came with the sandwich that made us loose our appetite, and no one ever tried to apologize or reconcile the indifference. Our dinner/hospitality at graffiti junction was wayyyyy better.

Visited Ollies for lunch yesterday with a coworker and we had a great experience. Ollies is in sort of a random spot right next to Edgewater High School and across from Dubsdread so FYI if you are on Edgewater going south towards Par St then Ollies is on the right side right after Hungry Howies....its kind of a sudden blind corner turn so if you pass the entrance then turn in at the light at the high school and you'll be good. Impressive and extensive drink options galore! The craft beer menu is decent, i think they had about 10 beers on tap and then probably another 20ish in bottled options so the craft beer fan should find something they like. I didn't notice a wine menu because I spend so much time reading through all of the yummy cocktail options they offered. I didn't order one this time but I plan on trying one or two next time. If you are looking for somewhere to watch a game be a great place to watch a game. We sat outside which had a couple TV's and inside there were TV's all around so I'll be back on game day for sure. Food wise- lots of options here, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and their version of a flatbread/thin crust type pizza called a Pizza Pita. I enjoyed the House pizza pita which was loaded with feta and sun dried tomatoes and my friend had the Buffalo chicken pizza pita which was also pretty yummy. If you aren't a fan of onions be sure to order the pita pizza without them...both of ours had onions on them and I didn't remember seeing them listed on the menu so just do a double take on that detail. Ejoyable experience overall, i plan on visiting again!

I've really tried to like this place because it's within walking distance of my apartment but the service makes it hard to do so. On a slow night it took 15min to even be acknowledged. Last time I was there I arrived at 1:20am sat outside and was completely ignored by 3 different servers frantically trying to clean up and close (there were 3 other groups of customers). I had to go into the bar to get a beer. Needless to say they turned the outside lights off on us and didn't acknowledge that we were there until we were leaving, which they seemed very thankful for.

Nice clean bar with good bloody marys, pretty good lunch , salad was good. I like the patio outside and very friendly staff. Aside from parking being at a premium and being adjacent from a high school I will make it a point to stop here when I'm in the college park area.

One of my local spots to stop in an see friendly faces, have a chat, an enjoy a nice weather outdoor patio. On this day I opted for the special of the day, Bloody Mary with a snack garnish! I live the garnish! Skew of cheese an meat cubes and stuffed olives! The jars of pickles are lived by me also. I had the pleasure of being served by the lovely Erica, an friendly smiles by Mikey. Erica whipped up cinnamon toast crunch shots! Oh my it's like the remaining milk after the cereal of the same name! It's Rumchata an Fireball whiskey :) there was another that was similar but it was vodka, I believe it was called cinnamon toast. It was clear! I was expecting the white color as before. There's a nice craft beer selection an I love the Cajun shrimp pita pizza. It's a super thin crispy goodness for one but filling. If you get chips get horseradish sauce to dip them in! I live me a good condiment an this one is superb. There are lots of tvs for sports viewing inside an out. It can get busy if the weather is nice an sports are on, thus parking can be a challenge in this case. You can try the lot at the school but be careful if there is an event going in because the school takes priority, or at least this used to be the case. When in doubt just ask the staff if where you choose is ok, they will gladly assist

Before Ollies, this was JAX! Anyone remember that?! Don't worry, name changed, and that's the only thing about it. They have a decent list of cocktail drinks and beers, but I can't resist from my Gin & Tonic. Be careful drinking here, some of the drinks might sneak up on you ;) I can't write much about the food since I've only had their dessert and a pita pizza that I don't remember which one I got, but I do remember it being good! :P Service here hasn't disappointed me, they're pretty good coming by to check on me and before my drink is finished they usually already ask if I want another. This is a cool, chill spot to grab a drink, watch some games, and listen to live music depending on the night. It can get pretty busy here, but that just shows how much this spot is loved.

  • Kimber T.

I'm a total regular. The club sandwich is the bomb, the chips and salsa and queso are to die for, the drink selection is wonderful, the sangria is De-Lissssh....it's all good. Enjoy!! (Also it's a preferred Orlando City Soccer place to watch a game if you're not able to go to a game)

  • Ryan F.

Nothing wrong with Ollie's, it's the go-to spot for all types of people of all ages and lots of them bring dogs! They have an inside and an outside, a pretty decent beer selection, pretty good food, and a real 'neighborhood bar' feel (where everybody knows your name....). It can get loud and busy and crowded but that just makes it good. The live music is great and they have some good annual events that are fun to attend. It's the sister bar of Finnhenry's downtown and Vanberry's on the other side of downtown Orlando and while there are similarities, they all definitely have their own vibe.

  • Jim L.

Ive been here a few times now and I love this place! The food and beer selection are awesome but the service is my favorite thing about this bar! They are the reason I keep coming back! They make me have a great time, everytime! Whatever you guys are doing, keep doing it!

    (5)
  • Jamil M.

Great drinks and excellent food. Note: They don't sell wings (which is weird for a bar). The staff (mainly the ladies are pleasant). The male staff have a little to be desired. They often have live music that is superb. Parking can be complicated if the place is packed. They have an awesome outdoor seating area with heated lamps. Ollie's is open pretty late too.

    (4)
  • Brandi N.

Ummm yea...I went here with a group of co-workers. Not impressed and the seating kinda sucks. You either have to sit inside on high barstools or you have so sit outside and brave the elements on their patio chairs. I had the French Dip, it was pretty standard. Nothing to write home about. I wouldn't go back. The parking is terrible and the seating is very uncomfortable. Not worth the time. Oh the pickles...nasty.

Updated after I was contacted by someone from Ollie's wanting to learn about what happened. The more contact I seem to have the more I realize my experience was probably not an accurate representation of the typical service there, but an exception to a place that's otherwise really quite cosy with nice people and good food. And for the record, I wasn't asked to reword or amend this after talking with them, I chose to because I appreciate their efforts and I've become convinced this incident was isolated.

Stopped here after spending a couple hours hanging out in a bohemia garden ( yelp.com/biz/yelps-bohem… ) and needed a bit more sustenance to calm down the coffee/beer hurricane I had going on in my tummy. Grabbed myself another brewski (fight fire with fire!) and decided on the Shrimp Po'Boy. The poboy wasn't what I was expecting. Maybe I didn't read the menu well enough, but I always think of po boys being fried. Oh well. It was good, a little heavy on the mayo for me, but I was hungry and it filled a need. Attentive staff, rowdy crowd. Not like the pub(lic house)s we encountered in London, but it will have to do.

  • Heidi T.

Let's talk about how SLOW this place is. Omg!! The service and the food do not compensate for the complete 45 minutes we had to wait on our food. The service sucked. We chose to sit outside because the inside was full... No big deal. But when we asked the waitress for an umbrella she brought it over to the table and left it for us to put up. Okay Ollie's that's cool, if you want a lawsuit of some sort. Aside from the umbrella situation, our waters were never refilled until requested. Mind you we live in Florida where the temperatures easily reach 85° in the summer. And we have to ask for water??? You really deserve one star for that. So disappointed. Awful, awful service! AND my food was wrong... 45 minute wait and you can't get my order right?? I mean you had enough time to think about it!! Shame!

Defiantly a place to go with the gang. If you're looking for a fun spot to hang out either inside or sit out under the starts outside this place it a good find. They have lots of drink options, good food and good happy hour deals.

Ollie's is my favorite sandwich spot in the Orlando area. My husband and I go most Sundays for lunch and haven't been disappointed yet. The shrimp and cheese quesadillas are especially good and we haven't met one of their sandwiches we didn't like. If you like a relaxing, chill atmosphere with good beer and food - Ollies is it. Thing to note: none of their food is fried so the sides are limited to cole slaw, side salad, potato salad (delicious), and chips.

Although I've only had a salad here, the drinks are fabulous and the atmosphere is great. I love Caitlin (the owner) and just love supporting her bars and restaurants. I have to say though, I went in here with a group a few weeks ago while visiting and received THE WORST service. The bartender (Kim) was dramatic, rude and attention-seeking (not in the "give me more money" kind of way, but the "I am in love with myself so the rest of you can f**k off" kind of way) It was just terrible and made me really sad that she works here. Although I love Caitlin and supporting her, I'm not sure the management is making the right hiring decisions. I will only go back if Kim isn't working.

We came on a Friday night and had such a wonderful time that we came back on Saturday! This spot is definitely a relaxed, inexpensive place to have some cocktails. Both nights we had a WONDERFUL server by the name of Jackie. She was friendly, accurate, and prompt. She even remembered all of the drinks we had on Friday and delivered the same on Saturday! Customer service like that is unheard of nowadays. If you want a relaxed night out, I highly recommend Ollie's. I will definitely be returning when I'm back in Orlando visiting.

We will drive out of the way to come to this spot. We always feel like it is a warm and cozy spot. Sometimes you'll get live music and a loud scene, or maybe a quite scene and some familiar faces. Lots of tvs for all the sports. You'll always want to come back. Everything on this small kitchen menu is yummy! Pickles are on the house. The best thing they have going is nippers: $3 1oz shots of whatever you like! We always end up here on a rainy day. The service and bartenders are so sweet everytime. Some favorite bites are: the house pizza, and the turkey ham "cool" cucumber sandwhich (I get as a wrap). Speciality drinks don't break the bank either--I like the drunken Arnold with crystal light.

Always dependable! Serving staff is great and you can't beat the outdoor porch. That's rare in college park. Decent drink menu/specials. And you can't beat the pickles. Only downside is parking as it gets tight.

We LOVE Ollie's! The staff is awesome, the food is awesome, especially the free pickles. Just a great neighborhood spot with the friendliest people (staff and patrons). Plus it's a great place to watch football too.

  • Adam O.

It's always a loyal bar. Tons of beer on tap with large screens in any direction ready for your sport needs. I'm just not a fan of their food. Over priced and always have been disappointed. The pizza and beef melt was just not that good.

One of my favorite Friday night spots. I'm always willing to make the trek out there because the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks are very delicious. Also I love their sister restaurants, be sure to check those out.

Good Sandwiches. Large portions. Probably the best potato salad I've ever had. Secret ingredients multiple types of potatoes including sweet potatoes! Not a fan of pickles but everyone else loves the jar delivered to each table

Any place where they hand me a jar of pickles to snack on at the table gets an A+ in my book! I have frequented Ollie's and it's former Jax many times and always had a great time. The prices are good, food delicious and beer selection on point!

    (4)

    (5)

  • Ash P.

Great place to grab drinks with friends after work. I love their sangria. Will definitely be returning!

Love this place. Best Old Fashioned in the area. Definitely a "public house" with a casual Friday feel

    (5)

Shame!

    (4)
  • Michelle B.

Defiantly a place to go with the gang. If you're looking for a fun spot to hang out either inside or sit out under the starts outside this place it a good find. They have lots of drink options, good food and good happy hour deals.

  • Abbe N.

Hey Ollie's....thank you for providing a great spot and filling a niche in the restaurant world that has sorely been missing. That is a great relaxed place, with good food, and reasonable prices. Oh, and being dog friendly is a plus! We started out with the smoked fish spread, well wait, that's not true, we started out with the pickle jar. Yep, the pickle jar. :-) Okay, back to the smoked fish spread, which at first sight I was thinking "hmmmm, club crackers might not be a good sign", but that soupçon was assuaged by the spread itself, which wasn't life changing, but it was good, light, and perfect for an evening out on the patio. Oh, did I mention that their beers and drinks here are not stooopid-priced like some spots downtown?!?!?!? Yeah, and the mojitos were good in a canning jar. Yep, a canning jar. :-) We lingered and decided to try the flatbread pizza called "Garbage." Trust on this, it was delicious, chock-ful-O' flavors that to me seemed to say quality as they hit my taste buds. Very casual place, great food, and even better reasonably priced. I will be happy to return anytime and try more pickles, more drinks, and more food.

Upon hearing that Jax 5th Avenue had been sold and the restaurant was changing names, I was devastated. I first heard that the menu and beer selection was going to change. I can happily report that while the menu and selection has changed, it has not changed substantially. All the favorite sandwiches are still there, pita pizzas, and the beer selection is still pretty good, along with a nice list of cocktails, sangria, and liquors. There are appetizers as well as a s'mores desert where they bring a mini habachi grill to your table. Oh...and lets not forget the pickles. They are still there in full force and delicious as always. The interior has changed a little bit...I want to say that the floor was redone, some new tables outside. The jukebox is gone, but the Golden Tee is still there, a window was uncovered giving some much needed light into the place. I think a fresh coat of paint may have been added. All in all, it smells AND looks a lot cleaner than before. They are still working on some outside construction but it's coming along nicely. I always get the garbage pizza when I go, and I can say that it was fantastic. A LOT better than before. I'm not sure if it was a new type of pita or a hotter oven or what, but the crispiness was there, lots of flavor and fantastic. I would definitely go and check it out if you can, you won't be disappointed if you were a fan of Jax before. They soft opened on June 15th, I'm not too sure when the hard opening is but it's open right now, so get over there and get some good drinks and good food!

$2 yuenglings? Yes please. I was introduced to this spot in the spring and it was know as Jax. It's under new management and is now known as Ollie's. The $2 yuenglings are as good as you can guess and the pepperoni and mushroom flatbread is delicious. I havent been here enough to speak on the modifications but I can say the service is pretty good for a bar setting. Waitress is two days new but friendly and informative. Plenty of big screen TVs and ESPN to go around. One thing I do remember from the Jax days is the jar of pickles n tongs they present you with. You don't have to be into pickles to appreciate this place tho! Cheers!

service can vary, but food is good and when the restaurant isn't absolutely crazy then you will be well taken care of. One of the few late night places for food (mostly sand and flatbread) in the neighborhood. Now with live music some nights which usually is just loud enough.

    (4)
  • Michelle A.

Super sandwiches, good service, outdoor seating, non-smoking inside....all that and free pickles!

    (5)

Been there a few times. The bar is packed with regulars. They are loud and think they own the joint. I will go back to The Local where I am treated with respect and the drunks are not annoying.

I'm giving Ollie's four stars primarily because of their awesome pickles and sweet-potato salad! I still haven't found an entree that I am "in love with," but I have hope that I will because I love their side dishes. The last time I visited Ollie's was for lunch on a weekday and I ordered a BLT sandwich...normally BLTs are straightforward and just have the lettuce, tomato, and bacon, they however add cream cheese. It was a nice idea, but since the cream cheese wasn't flavored it just sort of blended into the bread. Prior to that I think I had their chicken salad, and again wasn't impressed. Oh well. When I go again I may try a flat bread pizza or one of their other sandwiches and re-evaluate. And yes I will go again, even if it's just for drinks, pickles, and potato salad...it's that good.

Come for the beer; don't order food unless drunk. It isn't worth it. However, as a hang out to watch a game or just get a few drinks with friends, it's great. They have a great selection of beers and cocktails. Staff is friendly.

Meet up with a few friends here for a drink, nice place with some outside sitting. On this particular night they had like music inside. Which was good but way too loud! I had to basically scream to carry on a conversation. We sat at the bar, service was mediocre. Instead of nuts or pretzels to snack on Oliies had homemade pickles, that we really tasty! They also incorporated pickle juice in the Dirty Fin shot, it was a shot of whiskey that was chased with pickle juice and hot sauce. Sounds weird but it was actually good. For food I had a the Bay Ridge sandwich, turkey on wheat, gouda, raspberry dressing, lettuce, tomato and onions. For my side, i had the sweet potato salad...IT WAS AMAZING! I wanted to order another side of it, it was so freaking good! Ok, selection of draft beers. 2$ yuenglings all day, everyday!

The food is worth a Mehh as it is the standard beer, wings, sandwiches spot, but they do have a lot of TVs if you are looking to catch a game in the CP area and dont care for excellent food . Good outside sitting with TVs facing out. Not sure if it is owned by the same people but its basically the same as Jax which was in this location before Ollie's.

I was planning to give this place four stars but because of an excellent guest recovery situation, they got bumped up to 5-stars. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and I tried the tuna melt special. My first bite was great but then I bit into a piece of paper (most likely from the cheese slice) and ended up sending it back. Our server, Danni, was wonderful about the whole thing. She apologized and promptly returned with a fresh, paper-free sandwich. We understand that these things happen so it was no big deal to us but she ended up comping our ticket AND someone came over with cards for a free drink on our next visit. Overall, great teamwork, fun atmosphere, really good food, and excellent service. Service is everything to me, so way to go Danni and team! We'll be back for sure.

We went here on Valentine's Day. 10 girls from work with our "dates" - pictures of Oscar nominated actors. We caused a ruckus. It was awesome! So, instead of a bread basket, they bring you giant jars of homemade dill pickle slices. Love it! Yuengling drafts are $2 all day every day. Love it! My sandwich was called, "The Big O." LOVE it! S'mores?!?! Complete with flame to roast the marshmallows? Love it! Good food, good service, good times! What more can you ask?

This is my first time to Ollie's but I've been to the old Jax a few times. I was disappointed that they took a good beer menu and reduced it significantly. However, they do offer a good variety for all types of crowds, whether it's cocktails, shots, wine, or just decent beer. My salad very very good, but my options were very limited (since I have a wheat allergy). My only choices were to order a salad, or a sandwich/wrap without the breading...but what fun is that? I like that they kept the jarred pickles and basic overall feel of the restaurant. There are tons of TV's, so it's definitely a good place to just grab a sandwich and beer and watch sports. I wouldn't be excited to come here again, but I certainly wouldn't mind giving it another try.

Ollie's has great food and drinks! Unfortunately almost every time we have been there ( about a dozen times) the service is awful. It is within walking distance of our house- so I've really tried to like this place on multiple occasions!! It takes forever to get a server to your table and even longer for the food to come out- that's if you ever get to order! The last time we went I was throughly impressed by the service- it was a new waitress :)

  • Jeff K.

Of course, as you can see in the reviews, there is always going to be a comparison made between Ollie's and the beloved Jax that it replaced at this location. Maybe rightly so, as the food menu has hardly changed at all. Even the jars of pickles remain! Unfortunately, they dropped the decent beer selection for a much smaller list of a handful of generally uninteresting brews. I'm not one of the crazed Jax fans, at least not anymore -- not since the owner shut down the downtown location years ago (it was several BIG steps up from the Edgewater one). In fact, going to the Edgewater location usually just made me feel sad, like it was a mere shadow of the greatness of the downtown Jax. But Ollie's unfortunately took it down a step even further than that when they trashed the beer menu. So I order mixed drinks there. Servers seem friendly and the atmosphere is still pretty nice. Two Golden Tee machines gets bonus points in my book. It's too far away from me to enjoy Ollie's regularly, but it's a nice spot, worth checking out if you haven't yet.

No wings, burgers, fries. Apparently they don't have a grill. Had cold cut sub sandwich with chips. Expensive ($9) and not good (I can't recall eating or seeing whiter, plainer bread in my life -- it was like the wonder bread of sub rolls). Apparently "light on the mayo" means oozing out the sides. . . . Other than the sandwich and chips (think of your last trip to the beach, when you grabbed a handful of Lays with ridges after about 3 hours), nothing else on the plate. Napkin rationing seems to be the rule. Staff seemed harried -- very busy Friday night when we were there. But they were polite and were trying their best.

    (2)
  • Johnathan K.

Always been pleased with the sandwiches they serve, and the beer selection is decent. However I recommend avoiding the Spinach Dip app, which for $9 is ridiculous because they give you about 6 oz of dip. When we inquired about getting a refill, perhaps for a reduced price, we were told we would be charged another $9. Not a deal killer for coming here again, but pretty lame.

If you're in the College Park area, have some friends, like sandwiches & salads, enjoy live acoustic music, and enjoy libations.....than this is the spot for you!! Here's what you can always count on at Ollie's.....solid service (despite how busy they get), never-ending supply of table side pickles, consistency in their menu items, and tons of craft brews on draft. You couple that with the ability to sit outside under a covered porch and enjoy everything the Sunshine State has to offer, then stopping by Ollie's is a no brainer. Staff is experienced, thoughtful, and most importantly....engaging!! Sammies are huge (tough to finish in one sitting), craft beer is diverse, and the atmosphere never disappoints. If you're local to the area, hop on your bike & cruise over. Got a pup that doesn't like to bite people, bring em along. Ollie's is dog friendly too! Solid place that remains consistently good. 2 Thumbs up!!

Great beer selection. Like the local crowd. Food is not great but it's a bar first. I like to have a cold one here sometimes. The food I stay away from though. It can be a little loud sometimes but that's expected. Normally I have a drink and good conversation here before going elsewhere to eat.

The personal pizzas are excellent. Try the "garbage". Very good. I ordered the "philly" cheese steak sandwich and was very disappointed, which is why I give ollie's only two stars. If you are going to put a cheese steak on the menu, for goodness sake do it right or don't do it at all. Outside seating is a plus if there are not too many smokers.

Ollie's is a nice neighborhood bar that hits all the necessary notes. They've simplified the food menu from the old Jax days, although the drinks thankfully haven't changed. $2 Yuengling's all-day everyday is a nice feature, and they have good happy hour specials as well. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are good sizes, but the bathrooms are dank, and parking is very limited. During busy times (like football season), you may end up parking at the high school or down the street. Overall a decent place for drinks and some grub.

Quick, delicious and cheap! Food is delivered so quick I'd swear they knew what I wanted before I did. Courteous wait staff and and an amazing sandwich selection. If you're in the mood for a 3 course meal go somewhere else. If you want an amazing lunch, go to Ollie's. I always trust Cassie's suggestions while dining at the bar and she's always spot on!

I heard about Ollie's from my dear mother, whose subtle suggestions about this place basically turned into threats after a couple of weeks. "Have you been to Ollie's yet? You really need to go." "You're hungry? Go check out Ollie's!" "Listen, if you don't go to Ollie's I'm going to have to ground you..." So I cruised over there on January 16 to be exact. I brought my sweetie with me, who was visiting from Manchester, and who I lovingly refer to as the World's Most Critical Critic. Ollie's scored a lot of points with me right away because you can't smoke in this bar. After living in so many places where you can't smoke in the bar, it's difficult to regress back to ashtray scented clothing and hair after a few hours of boozing. So definite plus there. I discovered that Ollie's also happens to have my favorite southeast domestic on draught - Abita's Purple Haze. This is as of yet the only place in town I know of that has it on draught; a huge treat for me. So the World's Most Critical Critic and I perused the menu as I happily sipped my Purple Haze. I ended up going with the Bay Ridge sandwich, W.M.C.C. went with The Big Guy. Service was really perfect for my standards; I'm not the type who likes to be smothered in smiles and suggestions. Our server gave us just the right amount of time to decide on food and stayed on top of my empty pint glasses without every leaving me thirsty. The sandwiches themselves were really good. The Bay Ridge comes with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing that went well with my beer. W.M.C.C. actually said "This is tasty." I nearly choked when I heard it too - this is one of the finest compliments any dish could receive from my slightly snooty sweetie. As this place is sort of British-esque, I would have loved to have seen proper chips on the menu, but I can't really fault them for something that isn't there. But if the owners ever read this review, I hope they consider adding English style chips to the selection. And keep the malt vinegar coming. Overall Ollie's is a really great casual pub and has a lot going for it. Good joint for a date, to catch a game, or to have lunch with coworkers. I'll definitely be back - and not just to avoid being grounded.

WARNING, HIGHLY UNSANITARY, DO NOT EAT HERE !!! I will start by saying that I have friends that frequent Ollie's A LOT and I myself live in College Park as a matter of fact. I have held off for some time in writing this negative review because of this fact, however I cannot hold off any longer out of respect for the rest of the public. I have been to Ollie's about a dozen times since they opened last year but I had never eaten there, just boozed. I will say a couple positive things first, the staff is friendly for the most part and they have some decent specials ( 3 dollar nipper shots and 2 dollar Yuengling is always nice ). They do have live music quite often ( I believe its 4 or 5 nights a week which is cool ) however no jukebox is kinda lame as you better like who ever's ipod is plugged in when there isn't live tunes or you are screwed. Now on to the whole point of this review ( sorry it took so long ). I finally decided to try Ollie's food very recently. I was going to order a sandwich to go. I decided to sit at the bar on the side near the bar service station and as I glanced over to my left I noticed I had a clear view of the miniature area they call a kitchen. They only have a small saloon style swinging door that blocks the view of the two cooks, this unfortunately ( and also fortunately for the sake that this review might save someone from getting sick ) allows you to see clearly what is going on in there. THE COOKS DO NOT WEAR GLOVES !!!!!!!! This is a MAJOR problem for a couple reasons. First and most obviously, other than a few flat breads, the great majority of the menu is sandwiches. I watched the guy make a sandwich without wearing gloves thinking, " well maybe he just forgot to put them on this time " which wasn't the case. He proceeded to make about 3 more sandwiches without wearing gloves and I realized this was apparently standard practice. The second and most DISTURBING thing I saw from viewing the kitchen practices was that the cooks are apparently allowed to make themselves food and eat on the job. This wouldn't be too much of an issue with me if the cook wasn't eating WITH HIS HANDS and then continuing to make SANDWICHES , I swear I even saw him LICK HIS FINGERS ONCE , no lie !!!!! Suffice to say I IMMEDIATELY paid my tab and left without ordering food. I may go back into Ollie's again in the future to meet friends ( especially since there aren't many College Park bars that are fun now that Scruffy's closed and Graffiti Junktion has maybe the worst service EVER ) for some drinks but I WILL NEVER BE ORDERING FOOD. Hopefully this review may be read by the OWNER and she will do something IMMEDIATELY about this. If not maybe this review will save someone from getting really sick because of these horribly UNSANITARY practices If you don't believe me just go sit where I did and order yourself a beer and glance to your left and spend a few minutes watching these guys. Be prepared to lose your appetite. NO GLOVES IN a SANDWICH PLACE in this day and age of virus and disease ???????????? GROSS and not acceptable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This used to be a pretty tasty place when it was Jack's. If you like to be ignored then you will love the service now. I have never given a negative review this bad. Let me just say that my dinner companion and myself have over 20 years of food service experience from bus boy to management. This place is the reason mom and pops fail. We were there at 8:30 between crowds (always ironically the worst time for service) and sat at the bar and asked for 2 beers and a menu. Twenty minutes latter with flailing arms and "heeellllooooo" trying to summon the attention of the 5 feet away bartender we gave up. In fact, we were reduced to asking a patron how much the beers were so we could put cash on the counter and leave. This bartender (male, tall, blond/brown with a bandage on his neck...yuck) at 8:30 on April 26, 2014 (Saturday) was transfixed by the computer in a hypnotic gaze. He definitely is not a multi-tasker capable of running a bar. I hope to God he is in training and not a long term bartender in which case this is the fault of the absent management to not properly monitor the staff. Good luck to the owner(s) and investor(s) cause all they seemed to have there was the regulars at the bar counter who will put up with this I am sure. If you want to gamble with your hard earned money, check it out and have a lovely evening.

A co-worker and i came here for lunch one afternoon and I would have to say that I had a pretty good experience. This location is a little odd (wedged in-between a high school, golf course, and liquor store). The food was good, my friend and I both had the pita pizzas, I had the buffalo chicken and she had the house pizza. Both were very good, and I would definitely try this place again--maybe on college football Saturday!

I was devastated when I found out JAX had closed down. I went to high school down the road and always recognized that spot as a college park staple. Naturally, I visited recently very hesitantly, curious of how things had changed. LUCKILY, the place has retained it's neighborhood charm.. and to be honest, has improved in almost every single way. The presentation is classier but still dive-esque. There are now more tv's to watch your favorite sports events. They retained the same, personable staff. And the menu is still great. My only gripe is that they no longer do pitchers and that the beer selection is a little bit smaller. All in all, I encourage any JAX regulars to embrace the new ollie's and give it a chance.

I was a patron of Jax for a long time and enjoyed the food and service. When the news came out that the business had been sold, of course you worry about what is going to happen to the atmosphere and quality; of course no one really likes change. In this instance, change was good! The remodel is clean, open and refreshing. The menu is scaled down and not the length like the Cheesecake Factory menu as it used to be. With that being said, Ollie's still offers the old favorites as well as new items. In my recent visit, I had the french dip...simply awesome! My friend had the shrimp pita...it had GREAT flavor and my other friend had a massive salad...that look liked had over a pound of meat on it. And of course...the pickles! The food is much upgraded, the service is great, the atmosphere is awesome and the beer is cold. What else can you ask for!! Can't wait for football season!!! They have upgraded all the TVs and added several new ones.

Stopped by for a few beers and lunch. The crowds here seemed a bit rough- and so did the food. Service was friendly, but I wouldn't come back as the food and atmosphere really leave something to be desired. Table side pickles were all that was redeeming.

Sunday March 31st. about6 PM Absolutely horriffic bartender (female) . God awful service with about 8 people working and a small crowd. Waitress outside was good but the bar...The guy I was with said " I'ld like another beer-anywhere but here!" We had waited for at least 10 minutes with two empties glasses so I told him to go ahead to Wildsides and I would get the check. ANOTHER TEN MINUTES!!!!!!!! Obviously no manager or owner anywhere near this place. Food? She never asked or offered it.

Oh Jax how I miss thee! I went to lunch with a coworker yesterday at Ollie's and what a disaster! We ordered the fish dip(which we had had before and enjoyed when it was Jax) and waited and waited but it never came out. We asked the waitress and she informed us that they were out of fish dip but she had forgotten to tell us. Ok...so we both ordered salads. Mine was a Buffalo Chicken salad($9.50)which basically consisted of a bowl of not the freshest lettuce, unripe cherry tomatoes(which are not the easiest veggies to eat with a plastic fork BTW), some stale hardened shredded cheddar which at first I thought was tortilla strips and Ken's Blue Cheese Dressing and the worst part....the frozen, round thin buffalo chicken patty on the top. My coworker got a Wedge Salad. Basically a head of iceburg split in quarters with some blue cheese dressing, a few bacon crumbles and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Such a disappointing experience. I will miss the pickles but we won't be going back.

Love this place!!! I was a regular of Jax for almost 10 years. When the establishment was taken over by the same owners of Finnhenrys I was extremely excited. It was my hope that the same energy and atmosphere that one experiences at Finns would transfer over to a neighborhood pub like Jax. As expected it did, and then some! Not only does Ollie's excel in providing a friendly and warm environment to enjoy a cold beer, hand made cocktail, or delicious fresh made sandwich, the staff is well trained and friendly. The food has been revived from the days of Jax and everything is presented with quality, care, and is simply delicious. The drink selection is more focused and their hand crafted cocktails are delightful. More importantly, the staff is completely capable of suggesting a drink or beer upon request. On a very special visit (first date) one particular bartender by the name of Kim stuck out. She greeted us with a smile and was very welcoming. Furthermore, when my date was not sure of a particular beer, Kim did not hesitate to offer a sample of it to her. My date loved it! I think it was the Banana bread beer. This simple gesture not only made my date's first visit to Ollie's special, it made it memorable! And, it makes me proud to recommend Ollie's to any of my clients or friends. Lastly, I am excited about the future of Ollie's. With the combination of a delicious menu, excellent drink selection, and focused staff such as Kim and the rest of the staff, I see nothing but success for this place!

Went to Ollie's to celebrate my husband's birthday at our local watering hole, and the rest of the family (all adults) loved it as much as we do. The wedge salad is always the best, this time I ordered the grilled cheese and it was so-so. All of the sandwiches come either with chips or a potato salad (which is amazing), no french fries - gotta save room for the draft beer! The Tucher draft is my favorite, they serve it with an orange slice. They have jars of homemade pickles for each table to help you snack on, and they are a great chaser for a free birthday shot of Jack Daniels! The service wasn't so great this time because our waitress was taking her dinner break instead of taking our order, but otherwise it was a nice night out and we'll keep coming back.

Ollie's Public House hasn't changed much since taking over Jax, but the improvements it has made have made a difference. The inside looks much bigger with the new layout and the bathrooms got a much needed cleanup. The food is basically the same (which is great for bar food), the TV's seemed to have gotten updated, and the drink selection is the same. All in all, slight improvements make Ollie's a great place to hang out with friends, just like Jax was.

Been there a few times. The bar is packed with regulars. They are loud and think they own the joint. I will go back to The Local where I am treated with respect and the drunks are not annoying.

What more can you ask?

service can vary, but food is good and when the restaurant isn't absolutely crazy then you will be well taken care of. One of the few late night places for food (mostly sand and flatbread) in the neighborhood. Now with live music some nights which usually is just loud enough.

Cheers!

Fast and Friendly afternoon crew. Always a good choice to pick from on the menu. Craft Beers galore and mixed drinks for the hardy. Say "Hi" if you see me there...
