Cozy place for Italian food. Which is to say the least, absolutely delicious! The staff is funny and friendly. This place had been here for YEARS and you can tell.. here's to many more!

Went there for lunch and it wasn't too bad. Had the spinach and mushroom lasagna. It was okay. I was disappointed that there wasn't more spinach and mushrooms. Too much cheese. The salad was not the type of salad that I like - that wasn't their fault. It was a combo of green and pasta salad. Prices were reasonable. Went for dinner several days later. UGH! The service was S-L-O-W and the food was completely flavorless and lackluster and WHOA $$$$!!!! We waited so long to order, we opted to skip appetizers and order entrees. The breadsticks were good, but that was it. The salad was okay, different from lunch - green salad with Italian dressing. I ordered the chicken Florentine with capers (additional .50, by the way). The description of the dish sounded like a piccata with spinach. My husband ordered chicken alfredo and my daughter ordered the caesar salad. When the server finally delivered my food, I was like WTH?!?! Two small lily white (boiled?) chicken pieces on some spinach, swimming in 'sauce' with about a tablespoon of capers tossed on it. The chicken was not breaded, which doesn't bother me, but seriously, there was zero color on it to make it slightly appealing. The 'sauce' seemed like it may have been the cooking liquid from the spinach, no flavor, no seasoning. The only thing that tasted like anything at all were the capers. Husband's alfredo was extremely boring and not seasoned. The portions, for the prices were small, as well! I think mine was $15 or $16 bucks? Seriously? My daughter, a teenager who eats crap food all the time, COULDN'T eat her salad. She said that the lettuce was fibrous and hard to chew and she had me try the dressing. It was totally vinegary, not cheesy or lemony or garlicy like a caesar should be. What a waste of time. My other two kids' food isn't even worth mentioning. We had a bottle of wine that was about $30.... But our total came to $100!!!! SOOOOOOO LAME!!!! I would give only one star, but the lunch experience wasn't totally awful. This food is, sorry people, old person food, which would also explain why the patrons in there were ancient. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. So disappointed that Yelp would give this place a solid 4 stars.

Old school feeling restaurant! Small decorated like a New York grandmas apt. Food is decent service is great! Not the best Italian food but better than fast food. I would stick with the pastas and salads. Garlic and olive oil pasta was perfect!

Every time I come here I humor myself into believing that I'll order something different but, every time I am enticed back into ordering the pan fried spaghetti. The staff is friendly but they always seem to be either surprised by, or unprepared for, multiple tables of guests. Still, the food is good and the atmosphere, although a bit dated, is strangely comforting. It is nice to see a neighborhood, non-chain, restaurant have the longevity that this one has had. The locals can't be wrong.

I stumbled across this place while in search of a place to take myself to dinner one Friday night. Since this restaurant was not far from home I decided to try. Parking in the rear I went in to get take out but decided to dine in because it looked welcoming and they were not busy. Very cozy atmosphere, nothing fancy. This restaurant has been here for years so I felt that was a good sign. I ordered a glass of merlot which was very good. The salad that came with my entree was large and had homemade croutons and homemade italian dressing and served chilled. Good sign. The entree was shrimp scampi and I had them put in over the pasta the traditional way. It was absolutely delicious. I had plenty to take home with me but it didn't last till morning. hehe I will go back.

Ah. Sinatra croons in the background: 'The time is right your perfume fills my head the stars get red And oh the night's so blue And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid Like: I love you (I love you, I love you,...)" At the corner table, Lady & The Tramp enjoy their spaghetti, meeting at the middle of the strand. He nudges the meatball to her with his nose..... Lido's has been serving good Italian food at good prices in the same place on Orange Ave for something like 20 years. What does that tell you in this transient world? It's a little place in a old, tiny strip center, just north of Michigan. Parking is in the rear. Lido's defines all that is good about Mom & Pop Italian restaurants. From the red and white table cloths to the candles on the table to the rat pack music in the background. From the soup to the family style bowl of salad to garlic twist bread. Rich red sauces. Melted cheeses. Deep red wines. Lambrusco. Good service. Not one trendy thing about the place. Just good, honest food for good, honest customers of all ages.

Great place for lunch. The prices are not as expensive as made out on here.

Excellent food, family owned , excellent service. I highly recommend this place, especially in a city where big corporate places are too many. I've lived in South downtown for years, so glad I've finally tried this!

The food is top-notch and the atmosphere is quaint. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. We've only been there once but will be making a lot more stops here.

We have been regulars at Lido's for several years. We have never had a bad meal, everything is made fresh and always very tasty. The salad and breadsticks beat Olive Garden, hands down. Usually you can just walk in and seat yourself with no problem. Our friends always consider it a treat when we take them there.

  • Graham W.

Very disappointed here. The eggplant parm was runny and gooey - improperly prepared. The ziti was plain and the chicken cream sauce had some foreign matter in it and we tossed it out. Oh, the travails of Orlando take-away.

My family and close circle of friends consistently go to this place and every time my family from up north comes down it's a tradition to do so. Unfortunately, tonight we dined and had not only the worst dining experience there, but ever in a restaurant. Our server's name was Shantel and she was nothing short of the rudest person I've ever met. She argued with my friend on whether or not she could get all shrimp instead of half scallops and half shrimp in an entree. She's done this many times before and the man who greeted us and poured our wine when we got there said it should not be a problem. She then persists saying that he probably did not ask the kitchen. I've literally never witnessed this blatant disrespect to a table right off that bat especially since that followed the initial "yall ready to order?" No name given, no introduction, no specials explained (which almost every other experience we've had has been given).Next our wine had the sediment in it and we we're asking if it could possibly be bad? And she explained to us 'no, we just got this' and 'y'all good?' Not offering us another glass not full of sediment... And to top this off(yes it gets worse) we ordered dessert and cappuccinos only because the gentleman server assistant offered and then Shantel brought us our BILL..BEFORE our desserts or cappuccinos came to the table. THEN, she went and obviously turned off the 'open' sign and walked to the corner of the restaurant where she sat and stared at us until we we're too uncomfortable to stay. I asked very rudely if there was a to go cup for our cappuccinos because of how uncomfortable we all felt and she couldn't of said yes soon enough before bringing us soup bowl containers. We love this place because the food is amazing and the staff is very warm and welcoming. Just avoid having Shantel as your server.

La la la Lido's! Delicious, nicely-priced Italian fare awaits you. Now sit down and order! Haha. This lil' family-owned restaurant (of 19 years) is situated in a strip plaza near the corner of Michigan and Orange Ave. But don't let the strip plaza configuration throw you off, this place is very charming! The large windows let you look out onto the busy street, as you warm up nice and cozy at their nestled dinner tables. You can also sit away from the window and feel totally removed from the outside world. It's just that dynamic in there. The decor is spot on, and the lighting is perfecto! Music is usually Sinatra or some other appropos selection. This is a wonderful place to take your family, or a date. Dress code is casual to semi-formal. The dishes are superb, and they give you free breadsticks and salad---just like Olive Gah-gah-ga... I can't even mention that other place! Seriously, I highly recommend the lasagna, or the tri-colored tortellini... or the eggplant parm. Anything really! They are a bit thin on the wine selection, but the wines they do carry are pretty good in my experience. Lido's is definitely my go-to Italian restaurant in town. For price, service, atmosphere and quality tasting food it can't be beat!

I really liked the restaurant the food was good and they were very busy. The restaurant is very load when all the tables are full and its a very tight fit they have the tables right up top of each other. But the food was good not fresh I had the eggplant and it was processed not fresh. So I feel they are overpriced for the food not being fresh homemade. Will I go back? I think so, but still looking for the ma and pa homemade Italian restaurant.

Maybe I have a soft spot for Lido's since it was the site of my first date with my husband (and where I found out that he's nice to servers and a great tipper, so I decided he was a keeper), but I love this little place. They start you with bread sticks and a chilled bowl of salad with their house dressing, pepperocini peppers, tomatoes, onions, black olives and a bit of pasta. Delicious. Rumor is that this is where Olive Garden came up with the idea, and since Lido's has been around forever and Darden started in Orlando.....well, you decide. When the breadsticks are fresh, they're marvelous. When they aren't, just use them to soak up the salad dressing. The food is good. Not amazing, not out of this world, but good. Stick to the staples and don't expect haute cuisine. That isn't what it's about here. This is a little Mom and Pop that does old school Italian food, circa 1970, and that's the charm. They have a different lunch special every day, and I highly suggest showing up on a Wednesday for the Eggplant Miguel. It's thinly sliced eggplant filled with ricotta, baked in a red sauce and topped with mozzarella, and it's yummy. All the entrees come with a side of pasta, and they will gladly substitute garlic and olive oil for the red sauce if you are so inclined. The servers are wonderful, and most have been there for years. The decor is the same era as the food...red and white plastic tablecloths, chianti bottles and fake plants. If you want fancy, white tablecloth service from fawning waiters, you're going to be disappointed with Lido's. If you want to take a little trip back in time to good, straightforward food with friendly, casual service, give Lido's a try. Stop in for lunch one day, relax, and enjoy.

Lidos is a small unassuming restaurant in a strip center off the midtown run of Orange Avenue. If you take your eyes of the road for to long, you will miss it! When you get inside you will certainly notice it is no frills. The food is good and priced to please. While it is certainly not chef and detail driven Italian fare, it is Italian and it is not bad. You can get in and out of lunch there with a full meal for $10. That is bread, salad and entree. The salad comes out self serve style in a large serving bowl, Italian dressing, tomatoes, peppers, onions and olives and the bread is fresh. I had the Chicken Parmigiano, which was tender and came with a side of pasta. The whole meal was great. The pasta side was average, but maybe I was affected by how lonely the pasta looked in a side bowl with plain marinara sauce sparsely covering her, exposed to the AC. Bu the time I got there it was just to late... The service is a 10 with a family run stylized approach, giving Lido's 3.5 stars, since the service and local atmosphere (this place is all locals!) obviously work now and has for a very long time (it has been open for almost 20 yrs). I recommend you check it out, if not for dinner, definitely for lunch. Tip: Look on the South wall for the blackboard of daily specials.

Lido's is the perfect hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. Small, adorable restaurant with reasonably priced, yet terribly delicious food. The chicken francesca is just spectacular. The cannoli is also great. The rosa sauce is really nice.

Ate there about 2 years ago for lunch with a customer. Possibly worst/lamest restaurant food I have had in 5 years. Maybe it's changed. drove by there today while on business and reminded me to review. Hopefully ti is better these days. Enough said when one reviewer says 'should've gone to the olive garden'. Yikes.

Tiny hole in the wall restaurant with tiny parking lot. We went around 6pm on a Saturday with no reservation - no wait time. Huge flavors and yummy goodness. Complimentary salad and bread sticks. Large variety of chicken, veal, and seafood dishes. We had the eggplant miguel, veal pizziola, and veal marsala. Pretty long wait time for the food is only drawback.

Best little Italian restaurant in SODO. We love the chicken parm and chicken Florentine. Yum!

Went to lunch with two of my work friends. Ordered chicken parmigiana, meatball sub and eggplant parmigiana sub. Food was good. Tasted like old school Italian. Sub bread was small (baguette like) so as not to overpower ingredients. Salad with chicken parmigiana was huge. My coworker took half her lunch home for tomorrow's lunch. Very cozy atmosphere. Loved the Italian music playing on the background. Only drawback was side if chips was the only choice with sub. Would have preferred salad or even a pickle. Prices are moderate. $7-$8 for entree.

As cozy a restaurant can be in a strip plaza with drop ceiling, Lido's provides the masses mediocre Italian comfort food. Good service, with a ma' and pop feel. Salad and breadsticks to start leave hope for a delicious entree, unfortunately that hope was quickly diminished upon arrival of the Italian Trio. Fresh from the freezer calamari and mozzarella sticks accompanied the eggplant Miguel, eh. The standard entrees of eggplant parm and chicken Marsala were eaten without much fanfare. Could be a great hangover food stop if you were in need of Italian and your tastebuds were still numbed from the booze. Still, the cozy atmosphere and pleasant service fill the seats, which is always welcome.

Lido's doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is cozy, clean, and very cute! We chowed down on the free salad and breadsticks and then dug into our pasta dishes. The pan-fried spaghetti was delicious and the tiramisu rocked. The salad was also really good--just like Olive Garden but with better croutons and more toppings! The only thing I'd change would be the breadsticks, which were okay, but nothing special. Some doughy garlic knots would really seal the deal.

Holy mother of Italian cooking. This was awesome. Wifey Heard about it from a friend. Wifey brought some home and its been sweet music ever since. We always get it to go. And check this, we live in Kissimmee. We drive out here just to get pan fried Spaghetti. Every dish we have had has been amazing. Wifey said they are very nice and extremely helpful. I want to get a chance soon to dine in.

The food was terrible! The management/owners of this restaurant should be ashamed! I wish there were laws against serving Lean Cuisine entrees at a restaurant, and for trying to charge $13.95-14.95 for them. The service was not entirely professional. Back to the food. The chicken in the chicken madeira was cold. Also tasted like it had been precooked (frozen) and simply reheated. After sending it back, ordered something different, the chicken marsala. A joke! The chicken, this time tasting more microwaved than the last pieces, was tasteless. The sauce? A horror! It was watery, and tasted so. It appeared as if it were a microwave meal tossed on a plate. And they want you to pay $14.95 for it. We complained to the waitress and were not charged for this garbage, but not even a manager came by to apologize or ask how it could be improved. (They obviously don't care.) We will never return, and have vowed to spread the word of this sub-par farce.

Maybe the food isn't 100% homemade fresh on the scene, but I really enjoyed dinner here with my mom and boyfriend. The breadsticks and salad were good and my lasagna was awesome! My mom had stuffed shells and my boyfriend had the manicotti and we were all really pleased with our food. The price is right, too. Parking was a bit of a chore but I will definitely be back!

Stars for longevity (open since 1970) and friendly service. Italian Wedding Soup: Fire the caterer! Chicken Alfredo: The chicken was chunky and the Alfredo sauce creamy. Bread: Not so bad, but Italians can usually do better. Wine: Kind of pricey considering a glass consists of about two sips. Cool: Former Magic Player Greg Kite signed his name on the ceiling. Good penmanship! All in all: Should've gone to Olive Garden.

Lido's is a nice family run Italian ristorante south of downtown. It's hard to get a great table - since it is just 1 big open room. The family style salad is good, and so are the garlic butter coated breadsticks. I don't think everything is fresh from scratch - but those seem to be impossible to come by here. I've eaten here 4-5 times and I have not had a bad experience and the food has been okay to good.

My wife and I arrived at 7pm sharp. We waited for about 5 minutes before the young hostess acknowledged us. Her attitude made it very clear that she did not want to be there. There was a large group seated along the back wall of the resraurant, celebrating a birthday, so I anticipated there being some delay, but we didn't receive our food until 8:13pm. An hour-long wait for some lackluster mushy, flat, soggy chicken parmesan devoid of flavor. I took 2 bites and pushed it aside, proceeding to eat my spaghetti while waiting for our waitress. Unfortunately, after waiting yet another 10-15 minutes, my hunger got the best of me and I decided to cover it in Parmesan cheese, just to make it palettable. When our waitress finally arrived, I asked her if the dish is made fresh, or if it was frozen, because it was horrible. Rather than attempt to rectify the situation by offering to have it remade, or to bring out something else, she apologized and walked away. I believe that as a locally-owned restaurant, coupled with the growing "buy local, eat local" movement, that restaurants like Lido's should be held to a higher standard, because they have more to prove, and both more to gain, and lose. Had we gone to Olive Garden, I would have known what to expect, and their meals are frozen! We finally got our check, but sat there, waiting for it to be picked up. After 10 more minutes, we paid in cash and walked out - something we should have done an hour earlier. Leaving a 10% tip was being generous. We won't be back. -1 star for the wait -1 star for the hostess' pathetic attitude -1 star for the food quality -5 stars for not making any attempt whatsoever to address the food quality issue.

An often overlooked spot along bustling South Orange Avenue, this family owned cozy restaurant is serving up comfort food Italian style. Start with the Fried Mozzarella and then try the Chicken Cacciatore for your taste of Italy! The portions are large, the prices are lean and you'll have plenty of leftovers to enjoy.

Lunch special was Salmon and broccoli with either salad or soup (3 soup choices). $8 Wow. They do not use MSG nor soybean oil so I could eat anything on the menu. They even make their own bread (no soyflour!) The salad was bottomless and delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and very fresh. The broccoli was super fresh and delicious. My lunchmates said the bread was fabulous (I'm trying to cut carbs so I passed) Service was professional and informative and friendly. Very very nice. Looking forward to coming again.

Yelpers you let me down for the first time ever. I have enjoyed many wonderful places at your recommendations but this was not one of them. I am a fan of hidden jewels that some call hole in wall so the appearance of the place did not bother me at all. Not welcoming: The husband and I walk in and 3 of the staff make eye contact but we don't even get a smile. They continue walking around and ignore us for a few minutes. So long that we start talking about walking out. Finally one mouths from across the room how many & gestures us to sit anywhere. Food: we order tomato mozzarella app. It was ok but the cheese was low quality square shaped cheese. Hmmm. Not a good sign. The salad was good. I liked the dressing. We both order chicken fettuccini Alfredo. Neither of us finished it. The noodles were over cooked. The sauce was watery and very bland. I rarely add salt to my dishes but this needed salt and pepper to make it just ok. The chicken was some old boiled chicken w no flavor at all. Ick! In summary, I could have gotten same service and better tasting meal at Fazzoli's for half the price.

We celebrated a graduation party here with about 50 people and the staff was amazing! They helped us plan every detail and they were so accommodating and friendly and professional. I have lived in Delaney Park for 15 years and i'd never eaten at Lidos and now I see why everyone loves to celebrate family occasions there. Don't miss the endless salad and breadsticks because they were absolutely delicious.

First of all, let me address someone else's comment about the location, seemingly causing a low rating. Yes, the restaurant is located in a small strip plaza, yes they have a drop ceiling, but those alone should not affect the rating of the restaurant; they present nothing negative. I have been many times, and NEVER had a bad meal. The food is delicious, made fresh and is FAR from food for the masses. It's locally owned, and the food is not mass made. I have had several different entrees, all are great. They have a large selection of chicken and veal dishes, as wells as pastas. Today they had Italian Wedding soup on special and it was fantastic! They also haves good selection of seafood dishes. A family type salad comes with all meals, as well as breadsticks.; the homemade salad dressing is delicious. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and reminiscent of the restaurants I have been to in Italy, the real deal. I've been to Italy several times and Lidos is as close as you can get without a plane ride. The staff are always friendly, and will begin to recognize you if you go often; just like a restaurant in Italy. This is very nice in today's era of chain restaurants, you don't get this often anymore. Today I saw a family being their own wine is, so they must allow that; not sure if there's a corkage fee, you may want to call to be sure. They do sell wine. I highly recommend Lidos. Don't let the location, or the fact that they have a drop ceiling keep you from trying it; I'm not sure why that matters.

I love the salad here. They serve it family style before the main course and this is what I look forward to most. That and the bread sticks. The parking lot is small even though it was just expanded. Can be a little tight on parking during the lunch hour.

It may be a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it certainly was clean and provided friendly service. I ate here a few weeks ago with my girlfriend and am dying for an excuse to go back out for Italian at Lido's! We had delicious pasta entrees for dinner averaging $15 a piece. Their alfredo sauce very tasty! Parking is ample in a private lot in back of the restaurant.

Melted cheeses. Deep red wines. Lambrusco. Good service. Not one trendy thing about the place. Just good, honest food for good, honest customers of all ages.

Great place for lunch. The prices are not as expensive as made out on here.

Yum!

We have been regulars at Lido's for several years. We have never had a bad meal, everything is made fresh and always very tasty. The salad and breadsticks beat Olive Garden, hands down. Usually you can just walk in and seat yourself with no problem. Our friends always consider it a treat when we take them there.

Best lunch in the area with the best salad. This is the place to go for good Italian food with great local feel.

Lido's is the perfect hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. Small, adorable restaurant with reasonably priced, yet terribly delicious food. The chicken francesca is just spectacular. The cannoli is also great. The rosa sauce is really nice.

Yikes.

Very disappointed here. The eggplant parm was runny and gooey - improperly prepared. The ziti was plain and the chicken cream sauce had some foreign matter in it and we tossed it out. Oh, the travails of Orlando take-away.

Excellent food, family owned , excellent service. I highly recommend this place, especially in a city where big corporate places are too many. I've lived in South downtown for years, so glad I've finally tried this!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
