Finally tried JJ's after a tip from our own community manager. This place is fantastic -- a really interesting mix of Mexican and Lebanese. I'd never think to put the two together but it really works! First you pick your meal: burrito, bowl, or pita. Then you pick your rice/beans -- they have traditional brown rice, rice with lentils, or spicy mexican rice; black beans or lentils. Then your meats -- chicken, steak, pork (which looked amazing and my husband said is better than Chipotle and Gringos), or veggies -- sauteed onions and peppers and/or a mix of eggplant and zucchini. Finally the toppings -- you could easily go full Mexican with salsa, sour cream, guac, and cheese or full Lebanese with tabouli, hummus, feta, and tzatziki. But they mix together better than you'd expect! Great choice for a diverse group of picky eaters or fans of both cuisines!

This is a Mexican Lebanese eatery. No that is not a typo. It's "line" based options make it easy to choose your items. Today was my first visit to this neighborhood location that I've heard nothing but good things about. Out of the options of burritos, bowls, salad & pita's I chose a Mex Bowl with corn cilantro rice, salsa, black beans, feta, quac, hummus & Tziki. This was a delicious combo that made my taste buds very happy. The Tziki is very good. The hummus had an olive oil flavor that took over & the guac was not spiced over. I also got the chips & queso for my kids. I liked both but my kids didn't like the queso. I'm thinking they are used to overly processed stuff to appreciate good quality. Check them out in IG & FB. Discount when you check in on Yelp. I won't hesitate coming back. Support local establishments

Looking to try something new and luckily came across JJ's. The staff was incredibly nice and took the time to explain the menu to my friend and me and even offered samples of ingredients we were unsure of. My food was so good I ate it all before k had a chance to take a picture. I will definitely be coming back!!!!

I was intrigued by a restaurant classified as "Mexican/Lebanese so we stopped by. It's a small restaurant so there was not a lot of seating (a fourtop table is the largest available), but it wasn't busy at the time. The ingredient selection was great- three different kinds of rice, lentils and black beans, different meats and a great veggie option with eggplant and zucchini (they also had peppers and onions). The tabbouleh was good, but I was a little underwhelmed by my final meal. Although I appreciate a solid veggie option, the grilled eggplant was a little undercooked so it felt tough to eat. The taziki was the only sauce available to match a Mediterranean bowl. It would be nice if there were some additional options for that cuisine. There were plenty of Mexican salsas, sour cream, etc. perhaps garlic sauce? I would be willing to try again, but I much prefer Hubbly Bubbly or even just Chipotle.

Wow I was surprised by this place! I went in thinking it would be BBQ of some kind, but was totally wrong. Think of J.J.'s as Chipotle with a Mediterranean twist. I ordered the rice bowl with lentils (yummmm), tabbouleh, chicken, and feta. It was seriously delicious. I LOVE lentils and these were some of the best I've had. Their rice is awesome and they offer a mix of rice with lentils cooked into it. The tabbouleh is also outstanding. The chicken was fresh and juicy. I met the owner - he was very nice and friendly. The other girl that was working there was also great - she gave me samples of the tabbouleh and lentils. I also grabbed a bag of whole wheat pita chips. All in all a great and inexpensive meal!

Holy tabouleh that's good! I visited JJ's for the first time on Friday evening, and was warmly greeted by two folks who I am assuming are the owners. They were very friendly and gave me a tour of the menu. I was excited to try their tabouleh, as I was informed it was made in-house. So good! It almost had a creamy flavor to it, I am assuming from using good olive oil. I plan to try the hummus next time. The place was quiet and almost empty when I got there, but by the time I left it was getting busy. The dining area is set up like a Chipotle, where you order at the counter and they build your meal in front of you. I like to think of it as a Mediterranean Chipotle. I ordered a rice bowl with tabouleh, chicken, veggies, and some tzatziki sauce. With my yelp check-in I received a free bag of pita chips, which were nice and crispy. I dipped them into my bowl and chowed down! The food was fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the flavors and left full and happy. The menu offers plenty of options so I cannot wait to come back and try something else.

I was so taken aback by the great meal, I forgot to take pictures! Luckily, my wife did, I'm sure she will also post her review. For starters, forget anything you preconceived about this place. The taste cannot shine through on your mobile device, so just go. Your mouth will thank you. I had the pita nachos. My favorite part about this restaurant is that there are so many options. I wanted everything, and thank goodness, everything is made from scratch, so I could have. Pico de Gallo: fresh, hot, wonderful chunks of onion and cilantro. Pork: slightly dry, but very very flavorful and good amount. Queso: tangy, creamy, and fresh. No to mention hot!! Pita chips: thick, crispy, so very delicious, I could have eaten a pound of these by themselves. Greens: very crispy, fresh, not wilted at all. Guacamole: unbelievable. Couldn't have enough, it was a shame to split it.with my wife. ;) Go, go, go. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and genuine. I will certainly bookmark this place and head back.

Comparing to food I've had in Cyprus ... This is so delish it tastes authentic!! Flavor explosion in your mouth! I went late so my meat was a little cold but other than that it was yummy and I'll be back!

*Sigh* Where do I begin? I really wanted to love this place. Based on my experience I can't recommend this place. The Good: the pork has good flavor. It goes well top of lentil rice with chimichurri on the side. The Bad: The homemade tortilla chips are awful. They have zero flavor. Same goes for the queso dip. It doesn't taste cheesy, it's not smooth, and it has a curdled appearance and mouthfeel. Pass on both. Trust me. My ordering process had a few unwelcome surprises. I ordered a regular side of queso and they charged me for and gave me a large. I didn't realize it until I saw my receipt afterwards. I was unaware there was a large size. I wouldn't have minded the extra cost so much if it was any good. I also ordered a Redd's Ale. Redd's is a domestic beer, but I was charged the import price. I brought it to the attention of a manager. He said they charge more because Redd's is a pricier beer. If that's the case, they need to inform their customers as they order. Either that or post individual prices for each beer. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). I doubt I'll be back.

JJ's is kind of like Chipotle but with he choice of mex or Lebanese flavors. I got a Lebanese flavored bowl with lentils and chicken. It was very delicious and my boyfriend had the Mex bowl which he also enjoyed. I think the two people that were working there at the time were the owners, maybe it's a family business. Super friendly service, great flavors, fresh flavors. We will def come back again.

I finally made it here after hearing other Yelpers talk about how great it was. To me, it was just okay. Not bad in any ways, but nothing spectacular. It's a similar concept as Chipotle but with alternative options as well - tabbouleh, Spanish rice, different sauces, etc. I'm glad I tried it and if I lived anywhere near there I'd probably be back, but I don't think I'll be making the trek across town to try again.

Stopped here today after reading some reviews and Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I think I might have found a new local favorite! Chipolte style food line with so much tastier choices! I tried the J- Bouli bowl. I chose steak, rice with lentils, lentils and taboululah topped with grilled onion, feta and tzatziki. Man, was this delicious! Steak was perfect and everything tasted so fresh! The line tenant did a great job of walking us through the different options and was very welcoming. Pita, bowl or burrito with 3 different types of rice available. Choice of black beans or lentils, feta or shredded cheese and 3 types of meat ( or veggie). This place is such a great concept! Try this place! Healthy and your mouth will thank you!!!

I just went back to JJ's for my 2nd time and boy am I glad that I did. This restaurant is a "chipotle-style" build-it-yourself fusion between Mexican and Mediterranean (two of my favorite types of food). On my first trip I was simply overwhelmed by the selection of ingredients I could add to my burrito, wrap, salad, or bowl- so I made the amateur mistake of randomly throwing items into a bowl. While the flavors were all great, it didn't "work" like I knew it could. This trip I went back with a purpose. I decided to split my bowl into 2 halves (allowing me to still try 2 different flavors) and made one half Mexican (rice and beans as a base with sour cream on top) and the other half Mediterranean (tabouli base with tzatziki on top). This essentially gave me 2 meals to try, and they were both great! The guacamole was excellent as well! I was fortunate to meet JJ on this visit, and his customer service goes a long way. He truly cares about his customers and their feedback, and for this reason alone I would come back. I highly recommend you give this place a shot. If you're unsure, play it safe your first trip and explore outward from there- or ask JJ for recommendations and he can help you build a masterpiece!

JJ's is my favorite locally-owned fast casual restaurant in Orlando, hands-down. The quality of ingredients and friendliness of staff keep me coming back for more. I typically order the rice bowl with steak, guacamole, black beans, pico and lettuce, but have also tried the lentils, tabouli, feta and other toppings for a very unique Mexican-Mediterranean blend you really can't get anywhere else. Everything tastes so fresh, and the steak is just....OMG. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and beer and wines for sale! They also make their own pita chips. I love seeing local businesses like this thrive in a very competitive market like fast casual. If you like Mexican and/or Mediterranean, you must try this place out! Hopefully they will open another location soon! Enjoy! :-)

Great food. Like that they have brown rice. The eggplant was really good and so was the guacamole and hummus. My girlfriend and I both loved it. We will be back.

Wonderful experience! The waitress was very helpful and gave us samples on anything we wanted to try and more! I got a pork bowl with lentils and it was delicious. I highly recommend the pork! My brother got the chicken and said it was also very good. Similar to Chipotle but much better service.

5 Stars for an inventive concept, fabulous service, and food that makes you want to go back an embarrassing amount of times in one week. I had found JJ's on Yelp and bookmarked it when I saw the categories- Mexican & Lebanese. Huh?!? It turns out it's a lot like Chipotle in that you order at a counter and pick your protein, rice, toppings, etc. I opted for the burrito bowl with Lebanese rice, pulled pork (came highly recommended), lentils (instead of the traditional black beans), tabbouleh, and grilled onions & peppers. I loved talking to the staff and hearing about how the owner got introduced to Mediterranean food by a childhood friend and incorporated it into her Venezuelan cuisine. Their tabbouleh is a great example of a melding of two cuisines to make for a special, perfectly balanced blend. It is different from your typical tabbouleh in that it has much more moisture (more olive oil) and they use limes instead of lemons. All of this makes it reminiscent of the texture of a chimi churi. I noticed that they also sell beer and wine and see many nights in my future eating there and enjoying a beverage with my bowl. By future I mean very near future since my fella keeps bugging me to go back with him for more. I don't even mind!

It's like a better, Lebanese version of Chipotle. It feels wrong to eat pork with tabbouleh and tzatziki but it tastes so so right! All three kids loved it. Really cool interior and they were nice and patient with us as we tried to figure out what to order the kids.

Yum! I forgot to take pictures. I got a Mediterranean style bowl with lentil rice, lentils, 2 veggie mixes (onions/peppers and zucchini/eggplant), chicken, feta, and tzatziki. I got a side of hummus and soft pita. BF got a burrito with Mexican rice, pork, pico, cheese, and spring mix in a wheat tortilla and guacamole on the side. Both meals were delicious and quite large. BF said a few times 'this pork is so d@mn good'. Everything was also really fresh. We came on a weekday at 12 and it started getting busy at about 12:10. Service seemed fast for everyone in line and was very quick for us as well. The guys working were nice and friendly. I'm not going to go into the logistics of how this place works since everyone else already did that. But I will most definitely be back.

The name of this place might be misleading to some. That's right, it's actually not an Alabama southern diner - but a nicely done Mediterranean meets Fresh-Mex Chipotle knock-off (a la...choose & point, throw it all in a bowl). Overall, it's pretty tasty comfort food for me...with room for just a little improvement. (But, lots of room to grow, add new options, feature limited-time only choices, etc.) Your choices include 3 kinds of rice ( I almost always go with the Mexican rice); black beans or lentils (I usually always go lentils); 3 meat varieties including steak, chicken, or pork (I'm pretty confident pork is the best), roasted peppers/onions or eggplant; pico de gallo or tabbouleh (always get the tabbouleh); feta or cheddar jack (I usually don't get cheese); and, either tzatziki or sour cream. You can also add hummus or guacamole, and the spicy habenero sauce or tomato salsa. Pita or tortillas chips are also available, as well as beer/wine. The pork can be a little greasy (especially combined with the lentils) but I like grease - besides, the pork is easily the best protein, as the chicken is a little plain for me, and the steak too well-done (or perhaps a better cut of meat would work here?). You do need to be careful for giant pieces of fat lingering in the pork waiting to trick you. Occasionally, the peppers & onions look a little scary but they taste good.... Service is quick and very friendly - except on the rare occasion that the crew is all standing in the back. I have been a handful of times now, and for the most part I enjoy it - but each trip back, I might be just a little less satisfied than the previous time. Their service is very personalized though - and they will accommodate you in sampling, as well as putting together whatever kind of bowl you want . A few of the items are a little inconsistent regarding the preparation...the tabbouleh was different a few times; the hummus tasted bland the second time I got it; and the pico de gallo can be pretty watery and lacking in flavor. When I popped in late once, I got the last bag of pita chips...ridiculously stale, so be careful as it gets closer to closing time. Overall - a great, local alternative to Chipotle or any other fill-your-bowl fast-casual spot - but I hope they start making smaller, more frequent batches of some of the products so they are consumed faster. My experiences have ranged from 5 stars to 3 stars - but I am definitely a fan, and will be back often!

I couldn't even tell you exactly what I ate, but I know it was delicious! Hubs and I were stopping at Rogue Pub for an event and wanted to grab a bite to eat beforehand. Pulled out Yelp and saw the great ratings JJ's Grille had received. Convenience was a big draw too since it's in the same strip mall as the Pub. We walked in and were warmly greeted. As the previous reviews state it's set up similar to Chipotle. A lot of the time on my first visits I'll ask for recommendations. I'm usually too hungry to think and they know better than I. We got a bowl to split since we were told that is the largest out of the options. I can never eat a full serving at the burrito places and we knew we weren't going to be home for a while to store the leftovers. This bowl had a lot of stuff filled in it. There was Mexican rice, beans, grilled veggies, chicken and pork. After eating the pork I wish I had gotten a bowl just of this tasty meat. It was so good. You'd think with all these different foods and seasonings that they might not mash together, but no it was like a symphony. Each piece of food made for a delicious bowl. The bowl did end up being enough for us to split. When we go back and I know I will be able to bring leftovers home I would order my own dish just so I could enjoy it the next day. When we were in there we heard a couple of customers say they come in a couple of times a week. I know I'd be at JJ's Grille all the time if it were closer to home. Friendly peeps and a nice causal modern sitting area. Fast casual at its finest.

It's hypothesized that our universe is part of an infinite multiverse, and within the endless multiverse, every possible event will occur an infinite number of times. One of these prospective universes is identical to our own, except every Chipotle is released with JJ's Grille. And in that universe, the "me" that exists there is a slightly happier one. Chipotle's fast casual, build-your-own dish is a great business model. It's being replicated by places like Italio and Sus Hi. JJ's Grille is along the same path, but with Mexican/Lebanese fusion. It's a match made in food heaven. Being able to throw in tabbouleh and lentils that are richly flavored with herbs and spices makes for a much more taste rich dish. Step up your game, other-similar-places-that-are-still-pretty-good-but-not-as-awesome-as-this-one. Okay, I guess that shouldn't have been a compound word. I had a bout of food indecision when I walked into JJ's Grille because I wanted to add literally everything they offered into my bowl. Unfortunately, I don't think it would have fit (that's what she said). In the end, I opted to go for the "J-Bouli Bowl." I'm still a little confused on what that entails versus the other bowls, but I ended up with tabbouleh, med rice (brown rice cooked w/lentils, onions, sweet peppers), black beans, chicken, pico de gallo, and a bit of tzatziki on the side. So many flavors intersecting at one point in space and time. Only issue was that it was a little bit runny at the bottom, perhaps due to the pico being a bit watery, but it wasn't enough to deter me from vanquishing the bowl like that dilophosaurus did to Dennis Nedry in the first Jurassic Park. Another small downside is that it's going to be hard to go back to a Chipotle. JJ's Grille offers such tasty ingredients that it makes the competition seem banal. Also, there's only one location on Curry Ford at the moment. It's within reasonable driving distance for me, but there needs to be one at the corner of every block. Sadly, that's not the universe we live in. Oh well. Back to real life.

Just tried JJ's for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. I had the Med-bowl and added the shredded pork, veggies, tabbouleh, and lentils and black beans and rice. Great combo and great flavor! Check this place out when you get a chance. You won't be disappointed ;-)

JJs Grille is a great blend of mediterranean-influnece and latin-influence food created and operated by a local family. It was definitely well worth my cross-town trek to try it out. I'll definitely be back The flavor profiles and the fusion of cuisine are on point. Everything is seasoned beautifully. What really sets JJ's apart--beyond the great-tasting food--is how local, original and heartfelt the JJ's experience feels. When people do what they love, it's evident in their product.

Love this place. Newly opened and family owned JJs Grille has taken a taste of the Med and added the Latin influences. We had the chicken in a bowl, with portion of the lentil rice and the Spanish styled rice, added some onions and peppers feta and sour cream, I had the steak and similar add ins with Tzatziki. Added a Blue Moon all for just under $21. All was simply deelish. Dining atmosphere simple, and well lit. Definatly telling others about this place.

Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. In my case, it was ordering the same thing . I returned to JJ's Grille tonight on the advice of JJ and went completely outside of my comfort zone by ordering the tabbouleh bowl with chicken, Mediterranean rice and tzatziki sauce. I wasn't even out of the parking lot when I began to smell the amazingly fragrant aroma wafting out of the bag. The stronger the smell got, the faster I wanted to get home to eat this delicious concoction that was created for me only moments earlier. Following my last bite brought me to one conclusion: it definitely tasted as good as it smelled. There are some noticeable similarities to Chipotle, and as I mentioned in my earlier review, you can get the same type of foods at JJ's served with the same toppings that Chipotle has. Don't fool yourself like I did though. Chipotle does what they do better than anyone else can, but JJ's Grille does Mediterranean just as well. Bypass the Mexican, stick to the Mediterranean, and you won't ever go wrong at JJ's.

What is JJ's Grille? Think Chipotle. Now add the option for lentil rice and additional lentils instead of beans. Oh, and you can't forget their tabouli as a topping. And they have pork as an option where Chipotle currently doesn't. I find myself enjoying JJ's more than I enjoyed Chipotle. There is never a huge line, the turn around is quick, I think their meat is even seasoned better than Chipotle's, and the toppings that they offer is a refreshing change of pace. I found myself hesitant to have tabouli on a bowl, but with my gf insisting I gave it a shot. I will take tabouli over any of the salsa options that Chipotle will ever offer any day of the week. JJ's also offers pork as a meat option. I understand why Chipotle doesn't, but when I'm craving a bowl chicken or beef just doesn't hit the spot like carnitas did. If you're burned out from Chipotle, looking to try something a little different, or you're looking to have carnitas in your meal, I seriously recommend giving JJ's Grille a chance. You'll come out quite surprised.

Holy goodness!!! That was fantastic! J-bouli bowl is the way to go!!! J-Bouli bowl with half taboli and half Mexican rice, insanely good! Fantastic service! Seriously a hidden gem! Honestly, the only thing I wasn't fond of was the grilled eggplant. But everything else was amazing!! Interested concept for a restaurant requires directive service, and they were very helpful! Thank you, thank you!!!

This relatively new addition in the Winn Dixie Plaza at Curry Ford and Crystal Lake is, for me, one of the little family owned eateries that make Orlando truly special. Every time I've been there (three or four times now) JJ has been working the counter with the family not far behind. It's a Chipotle like, counter service, place with a Mediterranean flare, offering many tasty choices that allow you to build your own rice bowl, burrito, nacho salad or pita sandwich. Choices include chicken, beef, pork (my favorite) or vegetables for the non carnivores with a variety of rice, beans, cheeses and sauces to suit your individual taste. If you're visiting Orlando and are looking for a place that is COMPLETELY local, affordable and delicious, try JJ's Grille. You won't be disappointed.

I cringe to call this place the "Lebanese Chipotle" but that's what it feels like. The quick friendly service, the good clean filling food, and the steel & concrete interior design all emulate the popular Mexican joint. What makes this place special is the ownership. Whereas Chipotle is owned by some corporation (McDonald's?), JJ's is owned by a tight knit Lebanese family. It's reflected in their attentive, polite service and of course, their delicious plates. Did not expect to find such a cool place in the area. Definitely a hidden gem.

This place is great! I had the rice bowl with the pork and the meat is so tender and juicy. The atmosphere is very low key and they are eco friendly. My only complaint is how much they charge to add guacamole which was like 2.00, other than that it was delicious!

I got the Mediterranean bowl. This is so flavorful! I added lentils, eggplant, pork, feta, tabouli, and tzatziki. Every part of it is so rich and delicious. I will be going back again and again!

Delicious! For starters this restaurant is in walking distance from my house which is alway a plus! My husband had been before and enjoyed his meal so he recommended we check it out together this evening. I know most of the reviews compare it to that other place with bowls and salsa, but this is actually really different! They have different rice and bean options and even offer eggplant! My husband ordered the pork and rice bowl and I had a salad bowl with steak. The portion sizes are perfect! I ate my entire meal without feeling stuffed but still completely satisfied. The only thing I would change would be the salad mix. It was fresh, but for my personal taste I prefer all green mixes. We will definitely be visiting here again soon! Also, friendly staff!

Without immediately mentioning the "C" word, I will say JJ's should seem quite familiar to anyone who's recently eaten a very large burrito at a national chain with an assembly line-like ordering system. The difference is JJ's is locally owned, tastier, friendlier, and has a more interesting set of ingredients from which to choose. While I have replicated my favorite Chipotle burrito at JJ's- with fine results- I typically prefer to make the Mediterranean version of that same burrito: chicken, lentils instead of beans, tabbouleh, "cucumber/dill" sauce (essentially tzatziki) instead of salsa, and veggies and feta. It's also an excellent concoction as a bowl or flatbread. Worth special mention is JJ's tabbouleh. I've never cared for tabbouleh but for some reason JJ's is delicious to me and I never skip it. If you're typically not a fan give it a shot. Pita chips and hummus make a great side dish and drinks are self-serve soda/tea or beer & wine. The service is always friendly and engaging. Parking is easy in the Winn Dixie plaza lot.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
