I have to admit I didn't expect as much from this location as the others; the Winter Park and University Blvd. locations are standalone buildings with big, unique outdoor patio styles while this is stuck onto the end of a strip mall. Some minor styling cues (like the greenish turquoise structural elements) made it to this location, but there are necessary limitations. As a result, the outdoor patio isn't quite as desirable of a seating area as the others. And when looking at it from the outside, it's just not the same. But then you walk in, and whoah! What they had to give up in outdoor appeal they made up for in spades with the interior! I loved the bamboo framework over the booths! It's spacious and very comfortable. I really love it. The food holds up to the expectations set by the others. No surprises, no "why is this taco different than the same taco in Winter Park", etc. I did notice, whether by complete coincidence or erroneous perception, that the tacos seemed bigger, more meaty here. Could I be making that up? I suppose. Like the other locations, the tacos here are delicious, the meal showed up quickly, and I was offered a drink to go when I left. A few of my favorite tacos (although I don't think I've had one yet that I didn't like): - Killer (I order blackened): fish topped with cabbage and cheese, topped with a very spicy, very delicious habañero sauce. - Voodoo (I order blackened): fish with pineapple mango salsa, lettuce, and a Voodoo sauce (very slight heat to it) - Wipeout: Steak, shrimp, french fries, cheese, salsa, a big hunk of avocado, and baja sauce (no heat, but still delicious!) I've had most of the others, and I have liked everything I've tried, but these are some of the ones I keep coming back to. Today's meal was a great first experience at this location.

I think this place is a solid 3.5 stars. It has the same theme as other Jimmy Hula's I've been too with the exception that this has a pretty large square footage area. The food is mostly tasty and good. I've tried their burger and tacos. They put lots of slaw on their tacos so its sometimes hard to eat and buries the rest of the ingredients. I am a fan of the" jimmichurri" taco they have. Their fish tacos are delicious too and I take them blackened. The Burnt Reynolds is huge and messy. It's hard for me to distinguish whats in it. The Mojo Fries are great when they are fresh. I had some when they had re-fried old fries where it was hot but stales. Please just make a new batch! They could use some help with the lighting. The place is lit with that type of LED lighting that gives off a very sterile blue hue and makes everything blah. I just wish they would warm it up some how. Also, their floors are concrete, which is cool but they never finished it with a sealant so it feels like dusty and really just unfinished looking. I know i'm not eating off the floor but half of going out to eat is the atmosphere the restaurant brings to the customer. All in all, decent and quick for lunch or fast dinner for fish tacos and other interesting concoctions. Brief update: best to stick to the tacos... got a bowl the other day but the rice was old and hard.

Every time our family comes into town, this is a must and first stop for them. They love the fish tacos, and the shrimp tacos. Today we have received above and beyond service! They brought us three different types of desserts to try, and all of the are exeptional. Our recommendations for food are the Jap Caps, the killer taco with blackened shrimp, street tacos, and the MOJO fries.

Two times today! First for lunch my bride (at Hunter's Creek), now dinner with the 3 kiddos. Love this place and the ambience. Great place for casual dining that's affordable. Fish tacos are yummy. Epic with blackened fish is best. Combination of warm fish, that's salty and slight spicy with the tangy coleslaw in a bite is so delicious. All at just 3.89 (for most of the fish tacos)! Today we tried the Mojo (I was told pronounced 'Moe-Ho') fries. It was so yummy. Like Salt and vinegar chips, but not too sour. They also have Mojo tots, but I like the fries better. The dip is slightly sweet, so it goes well with the fries. My oldest son had the Burnt Reynolds, which he enjoyed. He said it was messy (same is true for the fish tacos too!) but was thoroughly tasty. Service was overall very prompt and with a smile. Can tell that the folks here enjoy working here.

This Jimmy Hula's location opened two days ago. It has a casual menu with tacos, burgers, rice bowls, and salads. I've tried the fish taco and the burger. They were both excellent. The voodoo fish taco served crispy is my favorite. The food came out super fast. Everything was reasonable priced. The service was good too.

Excellent food & the young staff is on the ball with all the food & beer orders. Ask about the different sauces to complement any dish you might order. Great beer selection on tap AND bottles. This might become a staple for me & our group of 10+....

Ate at the Waterford lakes location and was dissapointed. The food was ok but not great. The service was a nightmare. Ordered food was given a # for the food and they were completely lost. The food that did go out was being pawned off to other tables. Its like you had to pay full attention to who was in line and when u think it was your turn for food. For whatever reason they paid zero attention to the #'s assigned to the meals. I had to ask for our food not once but twice after 40 mins had passed. Ate a burger that was delivered 30 mins after ordering (thats pretty damn long especially when there was only 5 tables in the whole places that serves 200) the fries didnt come until 45 mins after the burger was eaten and that was only when we had to ask for them again. In my experience the place is horribly ran. I expect to see Gordan Ramsey in here soon. 2 stars because i liked one taco that had an interesting flavor blend of ingrediants out of the 9 things i tried there.

4 stars for food 1 for service. You order at the counter, then you get a number and they your food to you. We had a large group and everyone's food came out very staggered. A burger came within 5 min. The accompanying fries came 30+ minutes later. My lettuce wraps took 35 min. Half the group was totally done eating before I even got my meal. They blamed "only 1 taco maker is here tonight, we usually have 2". I don't think he's a speciality trained chef, anyone can through together a taco...so disorganized. Also the number system is pointless. You should have numbers On your table, so the server can find you and give you your meal. The servers are aimlessly wondering around asking each table who ordered what. Ultimately once I ate, it was tasty, but because of the long annoying wait, I probably won't be back.

This is our families favorite restaurant in Orlando. The food is amazing and extremely inexpensive. The staff always goes out of their way to make our experience even better.

Yummy and inexpensive food. Very laid back, beach-y, atmosphere. I love the fish tacos and fries. We feed a family of five for less than $40!

Love the atmosphere and the great fish tacos. Clearly there are some things that could be better but giving them an extra star for effort. It is intended to be mostly self serve by ordering at the counter and having the food delivered to the table. Do not expect Mexican salsa but do expect fresh ingredients and nice flavors. Great beer selections. Look forward to another visit here.

What a great venue! We stopped here Friday after an afternoon at Kennedy Space Center. I had the shrimp poboy, onion rings and slaw, the others had a variety of tacos. Great flavors! Great Atmosphere! A little live music. Kind of campy and funky. I would come back here again in a heartbeat! Good food and lots of fun for young and old. We even brought the toddler with us.

My wife and I stopped here on our way back home from the Tap Room Grille. I had remembered seeing it before it was open around Christmas time, and figured it should be open and we'll stop by for a beer to see what it's like. The bar area is not that large, I think 8 seats, and we sat in the middle With a couple other people seated on the sides. They had food and drinks which is the only proof we had that there is actually service at the bar. My wife and I sat there 10 minutes, and we're never asked what we wanted or even greeted. We made eye contact with a few people that I assumed worked there, although didn't look like they were doing much of anything, and still no one came. So we left. Thinking back on it, maybe we should have gone behind the bar and poured our own beers. I don't think anyone would have noticed or cared.

Weird concept. Mexican with no burritos and burgers?reminds me of Tijuana Flats in terms of atmosphere and the attempt at Mexican. It was just two of us and we ordered chips and queso to start and then burgers and fries. The fries came out first, then the chips and queso and then the burgers which made no sense at all. Fries were freezing cold and soggy by the time we got our burgers. The chips and quest were pretty good. For the burgers, I got the burnt Reynolds which was ok but ordered medium and it was more well and kinda dry. Significant other ordered regular cheeseburger took a couple of bites and threw the rest away. Long story short spent almost $30 for the two of us for sub par food more then half of which was thrown away

The only positive thing going with this restaurant is the ambiance. You feel like you're in some island or beach. The cashier that took our order ( it was on March 14,2014 at about 3 pm ) never smiled at us and didn't say much. I said to her that it was our first time there and all she did was hand us the menu! We didn't feel welcome at all by her as well as the other girls who served our food. Regarding the food, I would rate it a 1 star. My fish taco was little bit on the salty side. I don't think we are going back to eat in this restaurant.

Virtually a self serve resturant, although a server did visit once. Average burger, decor/design should appeal to a 16 year old surfer dude. Chilly evening, garage style doors were open... the breeze kept the kitchen cool and the dining room COLD.

  • Lisa M.

I am giving it 3 stars because the live band was better than the food and plain concrete floors. Plus we had to order and pay before being seated. Then we had to wait on a table to be cleaned. I think the kids liked the chicken tenders and grilled cheese but I didn't like the burger. They cook it medium, but should have requested medium well. I liked the mojo fries but the big chocolate chip cookie was awful. Don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Delish!! It is very refreshing to walk into a restaurant and see that their food is different from what others serve. The ingredients are fresh and all the flavors blend well with one another. To be honest with you... the only thing I've tried here so far are the tacos. They are so good I frequently crave them so my mind is usually set l on what I'm getting before I even walk in the door!

Terrific Tacos, Bodacious Burgers, and really good coffee. We frequent here for lunch, and hit the occasional dinner here. We were so happy when they put this location across the street from our office building on Lake Underhill and Alafaya. I highly recommend the Voodoo Taco and the Wipeout. These are my go to tacos. If you're in the mood for a burger, they have quite a selection. From the Burt Reynolds with a fried egg, Santa Barbara with Avocado and Voodoo sauce, to the Hermosa Beach with guacamole on rye bread. Their food is inventive and really tasty. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap and in the bottle. Oh and if you happen to be in the need of a pick-me-up, their Hawaiian coffee is delicious, with unlimited refills. Service is always friendly and food is always great! So glad they decided to put a location so close to home and work!

I've been twice at two different locations and have enjoyed them both. The look of the place is fun, the staff is friendly and attentive, and food is really good. The Burt Reynolds is sloppy and delicious; the fish tacos are a good size, I recommend 2 for a dinner, and are fresh and extremely tasty. All locations have outdoor seating. Go, you will really enjoy it.

Went here on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Atmosphere is laid back chill Hawaiian tiki hut feel. They had live music, guy playing island music on a guitar. My server Melissa was friendly and helpful recommending the Voodoo fish taco. I ordered a pitcher of Kona to wash it down. The fish taco was loaded with lots of crispy fish, pineapple mango salsa and Voodoo sauce. It was fresh tasty and came with tortilla chips. Overall a good place to hangout chill and eat or drink. There was a mixed clientele of families and college kids but it was early afternoon. They keep the Windows open so it's a little warm but gives you that island feel.

Amazing food. Very delicious. I recommend the killer. Name says it all. 8 dollar pitches of any Kuna is the way to go if you want a brew. Staff is always out going and they won't rush you out at the end of the night while they breakdown and clean. Good for a weekly visit.

This new location is so huge and so good! I have never ordered anything I did not want to order again. The burgers, the fries, the tacos, the cracked corn... Oh, the cracked corn, it's what heaven in a basket tastes like. The beer selection is great, the servers are always fun and friendly and the food is yum!

FOOD POISONING. My fiancé ordered voodoo crispy fish and we both got Baja shrimp tacos. Don't get me wrong, they were delicious, but we will never be going back again. Camping out by the toilet all night has pretty much ruled out enjoying any of their tacos again. We never got sick after eating at the University Jimmy Hulas for a year. Recommend you take the extra minutes to drive there instead..... Service is quicker and friendlier there too.

The fish tacos are good but really small. Might try something else the next time.

This restaurant opened very recently so I am sure they are still getting the kinks out. On the positive: Food - good flavor. I ordered the Burnt Reynolds burger which was very good and my wife enjoyed the Big Island grilled tacos. However, the zucchini fries were overly breaded. All you tasted was the breading- so would not order this again. On the plus side, the food came out very quick on a busy night. Waitresses were very kind and out going. On the negative Atmosphere is not good. Just one big very bright room with cheap beach-like decor. I kinda felt like I was in a high school cafeteria. The location on university is a much more comfortable restaurant with various partitions and alcoves. The music was very loud and we were sitting in the back far away. Finally, for a busy Friday night they only had one person at the register. So there was a long line causing about 20 minutes in line to order our meal. I personally saw many groups of people turn around and walk out. So will I come back...probably not soon. This place needs some work

Been there also twice. Or maybe 4 times...... anyway i only like two of the tacos but they have several to choose from that look good but not for me. It's Nice little bar also and TVs. Service is pretty good also. Parking can be a lil tight there because of the bar at the end of the plaza but otherwise it's a cool once every two weeks, eating joint for me. Cool beer also. Only gave it three cause it doesn't have enough choices for me. I'm picky. Otherwise a 4/5

Across the street from Bonefish, this a great quick alternative for good fast fish. Come try this place out, it's great!

This place is the ish!!!! Great prices, portions and array of flavors for some of the best fish tacos this far inland. Fish not your dish they also put down a creative array of burgers and rice bowls. The decor is that of a North Shore beach hut filled with 50's Chevy car seat booths. Seriously all that's missing is the sand and waves.

Went in for lunch a few days ago...Started with the chips with queso, guac, and pico. Flavorless chips along with a queso and guac that seemed very simple with little ingredients. The tacos were okay but I really wish the toppings would have been a bit more on the healthier side. I've been to the university location and the quality if the food was much better.

    (2)
  • David G.

Surprised this place only gets 3 stars. I guess they haven't tried the Wipeout Tacos. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. Never ordered anything else though but Wipeout Tacos get 5 stars!

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.

Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
