We made a reservation here for Sunday brunch over a month and a half in advance to accommodate a large party of family members celebrating my wife's grandmother's 85th birthday. In an abundance of caution, we confirmed the reservation that morning. We arrived to find that they had seated the entire restaurant and that we would need to wait a substantial amount of time for our large party to be seated. We went to White Wolf Cafe instead and enjoyed a wonderful meal, with quick enough service for our family members to make their flight back home. Do not make reservations at Jacks. They will ignore them.

We stopped in for a drink at the bar and some apps. While we were there the kitchen staff that you can see through the open kitchen had more drinks (including shots) than we did. The servers and bartenders were more focused on each other than the guests.

Located in Baldwin Park on New Broad St, this is a great place to stop off for lunch alfresco. Inside seating is nice, but there is a stellar selection of courtyard and street side outside seating to enjoy some people and dog watching while dining. Recent visit had friends and I enjoying various sammies. I had the blackened grouper, which was an EXCELLENT cut of grouper, seasoned well and cooked perfectly with remoulade on the side. This is my current fav grouper sandwich in the area. The truffle fries are thin, but not shoestring. They were cooked well, good truffle flavor, good salt- but not too salty, not greasy. House salad is also a great choice for a side or can be added on for just under $2. Friends enjoyed the grilled turkey club and pear and brie grilled cheese, both were enjoyed and there was not a truffle fry left on our collective plates. Service is prompt and friendly during weekday lunches. Jack's is a good place if you are in a hurry, have some time, entertaining guests, power lunching or just enjoying a nice day with some friends. I've dined here for brunch, but enjoy the lunch menu and experience better.

Great restaurant and best steak for the cost, hands down! Greatly quality food and its not too expensive. I am shocked that it is not rated higher! We eat here all of the time! 2 secrets that you might not know: the Hawaiian glaze is unbelievable on steaks and, surprising, the wings are the best! Highly recommended

It was a Sunday afternoon and this was my first time here. It seemed promising from the branding and overall atmosphere. The music straight away grabbed my attention as the guy wailing on the guitar was something extraordinary. His voice was perfect for the rockabilly blues/ soul he was playing. After talking to him, I found out he has a youtube channel and everything. I digress, the hostess was nice and courteous and the waiter the same. The problem came when the food came out. I ordered banana waffles, two eggs (sunny side up) and bacon. A regular order with nothing out of the ordinary. The order took some time to make and when we received it, everything except the eggs were cold. The Belgian waffle came out hard with a extremely bruised banana on top. "How bruised was it?" you might ask. It was so bruised, I actually didn't know it was a banana at first. I eventually cut into it to taste and smell and sure enough it was. Lastly, the toast came out cold and hard... like hockey puck hard! I can get better food at a Waffle House! So, if you like your food cold and hard and you like to break your teeth whilst eating, then this place is for you. On a separate note, the only thing I would ever recommend this place for is for the music and only if that same guy is playing, then again, you could always find him on youtube.

Honestly the atmosphere is nice but the menu was a little limited and pricey and the food while not bad was 'ehh'. Unexciting, uninteresting , and too many other choices around to plan on coming back soon.

Just had a great meal! Came for happy hour at First Fridays and stayed for dinner. My bf had the steak burger and it was gone before I noticed he stated eating. Must have been tasty. And I had my new favorite summer meal! Grilled salmon with quinoa, brussels sprouts, corn and peppers. Such good grill flavor on the salmon and yummy healthy veggies! Will be back to Jack's soon but we would love more happy hour specials especially on food.

Forgot to update! Tried for brunch a second time and the food was amazing. I didn't look to see if they had cleaned since last visit as I say outside (which I highly recommend) The server was attentive without being bothersome. Quite a feat considering he had a broken foot! French toast is too good for words. We ordered the kid portion as a side dish and ended up ordering another round. We will be back :)

First of all, there's different ways to age steaks. Each produces a different flavor on the steak and comparing steakhouses that age differently is like comparing apples and oranges. I've enjoyed everything I've had at Jack's, but especially the chile rubbed steak I didn't want to stop eating last time I was in. Super tender, great flavor, dang you stomach for making me stop eating. Wife goes for their tuna and wasabi mashed potatoes, and loves them to the point she pretty much dreams about them. Nice flavors, just enough to make you know they're seasoned, but not so much you forget what you're eating. Quaint little spot in Baldwin park, definitely worth the trip.

If you have a craving for red meat and have found yourself in Baldwin Park , the fairly new Jack's Steakhouse can take care of you--without forcing you to take a second mortgage on your home (like some other upscale steakhouses). The atmosphere was fancy but not too overdone and there was outdoor seating available if you're a people watcher. The menu wasn't terribly large but did offer non-steak choices such as Lobster Bisque, French Onion Soup and their Kobe Burger. For Sunday brunch, they provide their guests with an omelette and waffle station among other special breakfast delicacies. As for their steaks--the Filet is adequately priced at $22. They offer larger and smaller cuts depending on how much red meat you are able to enjoy.

My husband and I searched for a great steakhouse that served our favorite Santa Ema merlot since J Alexander's closed their Orlando location. Much to our delight we stumbled across this restaurant while surfing the internet. Double checked on Yelp and saw that it had received medium to high reviews. We also double checked their website to verify what time they closed, which said 10:30 p.m. Great! We are late-eaters so this was all right up our alley. We excitedly drove 20+ minutes and arrived at 10:10 p.m. After standing at the door for a couple minutes a waiter finally walked up to us and said the kitchen was closed. We explained we had checked their website and we were positive it said they closed at 10:30. He basically said he was sorry, but to hit the road Jack! Really?! The bar was packed and there were still a few tables with patrons that had clearly just begun their main course. Not a good impression to leave with first time guests. We hit the road Jack, don't think we will be comin' back no more.........

Jack's is my neighborhood steakhouse and I frequent there about 2-4 times a month. Most of their prices are comparable to Outback, with a few more expensive items. It has a casual but classy feel to it too. The steaks are tasty. Every so often they overcook/burn the edges but that's to be expected when cooking over an open grill. Otherwise the insides are quite juicy and tender. They have a great selection of sides, my favorite is the roasted root veges and sauteed spinach. They have various optional toppings for the steaks and burgers. They have a scrumptious and unique dessert menu with a huge s'mores dish. This part is an update, because I questioned the attentiveness of their staff in the past. Well last time I went, they were extremely attentive. The waiter continuously came to our table and engaged us in conversation. He made the whole experience fun and we shook hands at the end. They have had the same wait staff for the past year I've been going and they seem closely knit. As for their Sunday brunch, they have many creative and tasty dishes. I got the blueberry compote french toast. It didn't look like a large portion, but was enough to fill me up (it takes a lot to make me full). Their bloody marys are one of the best I've ever tried and you get to choose from a list of about 8 veges to put in there (it's almost a meal in itself). They have a full liquor bar and a good selection of wine. Sitting at the bar is fun too because you can watch them cook the food and the dialog between the staff. I've had a few fun conversations with customers too. The outside seating is next to a little grassy area little kids like to play in, so this a plus if you have them. I love Jack's over Outback or La Cantina, just because of the great food variety and atmosphere of the place.

My wife and I tried this last night with our two little ones. We were seated immediately inside. It was a bit noisy, but that helped to muffle our two noisemakers. For all the complaints on here about service, we had several people at our table immediately clearing glasses and taking our drink orders. Bread with butter and oil took a while to come out, but otherwise everything was quick. Bread was delicious and our three year old couldn't get enough of the oil. I'm not a steak eater, but my wife is and said her filet was a good cut and cooked perfectly, though seemingly not seasoned in the least. She ended up eating it with her mushroom risotto, which she said was the best she's had in a restaurant. I ended up with the chicken breast, which I expected to be a little bland but turned out to be surprisingly delicious and well seasoned. I also had the mushroom risotto, which was delicious but a bit too rich to eat too much of. For the kids, we got the pizza (which our three year old devoured) and the chicken sandwich from the kid's menu. The awesome fruit side we got with the kid's chicken sandwich came with grapes, pineapple, and strawberries. The chicken sandwich turned out to have onions in it, which the menu didn't mention. Wish we had known that before ordering it, I don't know any kids that enjoy onions and our four year old turned out to be no exception. No idea why they even put them on the kid's order. The meal was pretty pricey for four people, especially with just waters and inexpensive kids meals. The food was good, but not enough to justify the bill in the end.

Update. Jacks has declined in service and value since my last review. I no longer consider this fine dining. I went there two weeks ago with my husband. The hostess seemed uninterested and was chomping gum. We were seated at an extremely uneven table which did not bode well for out wine. Our waiter was average and practically talked me into ordering a special pork and rice dish. We received our food with no utensils or napkins and had to ask for that. When I received my dish, it was so spicy. it was inedible and had whole cloves of garlic in the dish. At no point in the description on the menu or from the waiter was i told it would be spicy. My husband changed plates with me to be kind and he has a high tolerence for spice could not eat it. I was as if a whole container of chili pepper was sprinkled on it. . Our server came by and asked us how everything was, we told him about the rice. He said "sorry" And that he likes it and walked away. No offer for us to order something else or even a discounted check? For a $90 meal for two people I expect more committment to excellence. For that reason it now it gets 2 stars. To be fair my husbands steak was prepared well, but the service is sub par.

We went Friday night and had the most wonderful meal. Admittedly our experience in the past has been hit or miss. We all felt like they have really stepped up their kitchen. Two of us had burgers, one had scallops and the other had veggies including the most wonderful brussel sprout hash. It is definitely worth your while to give them a visit.

I wouldn't waste your time. The service is nearly non-existent, the food isn't that terrific and they charged my friend a dollar for three slices of raw red onion. C'mon. Really?? Bleh. The mimosa wasn't that good and after I asked for hot sauce (which I saw bottles of on the other tables) they handed me a metal tin of it. Am I not cool enough for a bottle? What the hell guys. Unnnng. The best part of this meal was the company and the beautiful weather outside.

Recently had brunch there and wow - what a great brunch menu! Everything looked really good, especially the drinks. The fellas ordered a "Man-mosa": a Landshark with orange juice which turned out to be a great combination! (Edit 3/28/2010: they changed their drink menu and now serve the Man-mosa with Corona and Orange Juice. Blegh, I preferred the Landshark.) I had the Bellini which was champagne and pineapple juice. Very yummy! I also ordered the french toast with nutella and strawberries. Our server was very thoughtful and gave me all the toppings on the side so I could add the amount to my liking. It was a beautiful morning for brunch and the portions were plentiful! I was pretty impressed so I think it's a great place to add to a brunch rotation!

I have tried this place out for the thursday burger special ($5) 4oz burgers as well as sunday brunch. The burgers are good and the perfect size if you share the fries and a side salad with someone and you can tell that the beef is high quality. My favorite thing though was sunday brunch and to be more specific the biscuits and gravy. They have just the right amount of sausage and spice and a perfect serving size.

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Jack's . Large party, Eddie was a fantastic waiter and everyone's meal was excellent! All steaks prepared perfectly, my seared duck breast was melt in your mouth great. Highly recommend this place!

First off, the server was really good. Second, the steak was fantastic. Third, unfortunately, drinks were skimpy and severely overpriced. As was pretty much everything. The pros don't outweigh that con for me. Just was too expensive for what you get.

A few of us went here on Thursday. Two of us had the $5 burger special. One of us had salmon. The food was satisfactory. We had six bourbons. We had had Basil Hayden which is typically $8-10 in a restaurant. $40 for a bottle in a liquor store so that's a fair markup. It was $18 per drink here. Just on the rocks. More expensive than it was at the Venetian in Vegas two weeks ago. I rarely complain. Most places in Baldwin are a little over priced. I understand the mark up. But this was ridiculous. The prices for bourbon were not listed on the menu and I take responsibility for not asking. I paid my bill. But I will not be back. I don't mind paying for delicious food and great drinks. I do mind being blatantly ripped off.

Hands down the best burger I've ever had. Phenomenal service. A spectacular beer & wine list. Sour beers you won't find anywhere else. You'll find me here every Thursday for the house $5 burger special.

  • Michael N.

I never had a bad meal there, but they have changed the menu along with prices! $15 for a chopped salad is over the top for me. It's more of a bar type atmosphere than a steakhouse. It's a small L-shaped place with a long bar and they have live music on the weekends. Their happy hour has change and goes until 6:30 PM, but it used to be until 7! All of the bartenders and staff have been very cordial to me which is very much appreciated! The best time to enjoy a quiet, fine dining experience is during the week or early on the weekends. It's just pricy for the restaurant layout and atmosphere. It's more of a place to meet up for a drink after work than a fine dining establishment.

Very disappointed that they changed their menu. I don't see myself returning. They told us the bread would be 20 minutes. Ordered the French Onion soup and it was very bland - Outback's is better. The sides seemed under cooked. The steaks were too salty. I truly feel I could've gotten a better meal for much less at Outback. I'll return when the chef/menu changes.

Got the steak burger but it was nothing special, it didn't really have any flavor and the bread wasn't very good, too thick and hard to chew. The wife got waffle and chicken and that was actually tasty with the spicy sauce it comes with. Went in for brunch with family. Would go back but not getting the burger.

S'mores are always a good idea, gooey marshmallows, melted chocolate and a certain sense of nostalgia that accompanies roasting a marshmallow and squishing it between graham crackers. But let's get real, firing up the charcoal grill in the Florida humidity isn't worth it or all that appealing. And microwaved s'mores? Why even bother. So you can imagine my surprise when I visited Jack's Steakhouse in Baldwin Park and stumbled upon their s'mores dessert. Curious, I asked my server "Is it a brownie or cake with a s'more flavor?" Nope, they serve REAL s'mores with marshmallows, Hershey's chocolate (of course) and graham crackers. The ingredients are paired with a roasting flame and skewers to brown your marshmallows to crispy, gooey perfection. These s'mores were downright entertaining {and tasty} for everyone at the table. S'mores from the charcoal grill are irreplaceable, but when the craving strikes and grilling options are limited, head over to Jack's Steakhouse for your tableside s'more fix. PS: August 30 was National Toasted Marshmallow Day, but it's never too late to celebrate right?

Really enjoy the Ribs Mac & Cheese. Tasty and most ribs. Creamy cheese that sticks to the twisted noodle. Also The Wedge Salad is one of the best around.

  • Adelle P.

Service was the best thing at this restaurant. The bread, and hamburger buns were the worst I ever had: yeasty, under baked, and flavorless. The salad wedge which needs to be eaten with a knife and fork is served in a bowl making it impossible to cut. The bacon bits were flavorless and the cheese dressing overwhelmed every other ingredient. Pricy for a sports bar with TV in your face and poor ambiance with worse food for a steakhouse. They did tell us there was a new chef and the menu would be changing. It can only get better from here! But they charged us for bad food anyway! And the coffee sucked.

Came here last night for Thursday Burger special. Arrived at 7:15... Sat outside.. 6 of us. Took a LONG time to get waited on, even longer to get our beverages....beverages were finished long before we finally got our burgers and salads Dinner took .... Finally got out of there after 9:00 PM .... Not even crowded last night... Burgers and fries and salads tasty, but service was a thumbs down

I gave Jack's five stars because we walked up at 6:45 on Friday evening without a reservation. Not only did they accommodate us, but they set up a special table for us outside so our dog, Delilah could hang out with us as well. Dan, our waiter was extremely welcoming and completely helpful regarding dietary restrictions and -- the food was delicious. I had the duck breast with a side of brussels sprouts and even though I have soy restrictions they were delicious. My companion had the 8 oz filet cooked to a perfect medium rare with a side of the corn. Neither of us needed to order desert because the portions were perfect. We came home happy campers. I cannot wait to go back.

I really really want this place to be great. This review is about brunch and I will post another on dinner. We showed up for brunch at 12ish on a Sunday. Crowded but not full and we were seated quickly. Server was to us quickly and was great throughout the meal. Apparently they are transitioning to a new brunch menu so they were about of about 6 things. That's always a bit of a disappointment but there were still plenty of choices. We started with drinks of course! The bloody mary was great and they have a long list of things you can add on like bacon and blue cheese olives. They call it a "bar" but really you just tell them what you want and they build it for you. My companions had the traditional mimosa and the Bellini. Nice pour on the mimosa; definitely worth $3. The Bellini included pineapple sherbet which made it too sweet for me but it was really frothy and pretty! Unfortunately, the food was only ok. Two of us built our own breakfast burrito. Nice option but somehow were both a little dry and tasteless. Mostly just eggs in a tortilla. Not enough of the other stuff we added. And no salsa. Who has breakfast burritos and no salsa!? Had to power through the dryness. Ok choice for SUnday brunch and affordable but not overwhelming.

So we call asking if they serve Sunday brunch. Get an answer that describes a French something or other. After listening to more entrees my wife finally asks if they have eggs. Person who answered phone then reveals a host of egg dishes. So we head over, sit down and are handed the brunch menu which has all the usual suspects. Maybe the person who answered the phone doesn't know what brunch is. So then we get seated and proceed to wait for approximately 10 minutes as server after server strolls past us as we are invisible. I finally walk over to the hostess to ask if someone can bring us coffee. A few minutes later a server wanders over ... shocked that we've been waiting. Boy I hope the food is good because we are not off to a good start. BTW coffee hasn't come yet. Well food was very good so we'll give them another star and another try.

Decided to go to brunch for our anniversary and we wanted to try something new. The restaurant itself was clean and there was some outdoor seating. The brunch menu was limited but had some good choices and they offered a mimosa menu with a variety of options. I had the two+two+two and my boyfriend got the Eggs Benedict which came with home fries. Our server was friendly, but for the type of restaurant we were in I was a little surprised by her saying ya'll and folks, but her service was ok so it is what it is. When the food came out we were very disappointed but had waited quite awhile for our food so we were not about to send it back. The eggs Benedict which are supposed to have poached eggs were so over cooked that there was no liquid yolk inside, there was no asparagus like shown in the photo, the ham was more like bacon which was not mentioned in the description, and finally the home fries were not homemade and were more like cheap frozen home fries. Home fries are one of the easiest things to make so it was ridiculous to use frozen crap especially when you are charging $12. I ordered my eggs over easy and again the eggs were way over cooked. In conclusion this was the first and last time we will eat at this restaurant for brunch and will definitely not be recommending it to anyone.

Not impressed. I would love to have a great steakhouse in my neighborhood but the food is so average. Our server wasn't that attentive and we spent a couple hundred dollars for steak that shouldn't have been bleeding rare when we asked for medium well. Everyone else in our party wasn't impressed with their food either. I've also heard the same thing from several other people who have eaten here.

I give 5 stars for Lacey. He was always nice to us and made it our neighborhood bar. Food is ok but the atmosphere is very cool. As a bar it is top notch. I enjoy the wings.

After living in Baldwin Park for a year, we have enjoyed most of our visits to Jack's. We almost always sit at the busy bar and recent changes to the staff have been a great improvement - you get waited on and with a smile, whether you are a regular or not. Live music is nice, but can be intrusive - turn it down, please! The menu roams from casual options to steaks - a little confusing as to what Jack's is trying to be - a more relaxed menu would certainly be more of a draw for those not looking for higher priced entrees during the week. Very good - Caesar salad, burgers, pork chop, fries, the specials are often creative, albeit over-priced for the portion. The over-dressed tables (too much glassware, white tablecloths) give the impression of $$$, which may be a turn-off for locals looking for a step-up from the neighborhood competition). Word on the street has it that the menu may change soon - looking forward to it!

Food ok.... But just a warning not to order the seared tuna tartare. It is Escolar and will completely ruin your evening with all of the running to the bathroom. Restaurants need to stop serving this. It is banned in a few countries and used with a warning in others. To bad Jacks picked the cheap way to go. It is not tuna it is Mackerel.

I had tried to be on top of my game and made a valentines day reservation, at least, 3 weeks early. I was very excited because i have only been here once, and it was great so was really looking forward to this evening. I had already looked on the website and reviewed the menu so i knew what i wanted to order. The day of, the hostess called to confirm our reservation. When we walked in, there was no line and no one waiting to be seated, there were also a few open tables in the restaurant so it wasn't packed, over filled, or slammed. We were walked to the very last table in the restaurant, squished up against the wall. The host said "enjoy" and walked away. There was only 1 chair at the table. I had to stand there and wait for someone to get me a chair. We noticed that there was only one menu/piece of paper on the table, not ever one for each of us. It was a special "valentines day menu" $50 per person and you had your choice of a few items, 3 courses. There was a soup/salad course and 2 entree courses. It appears that the 2nd course may have been an appetizer course, but no dessert course, or wine/champagne choice. When the server came over and asked for our drink order, we asked for the regular menu. She said they were only doing the valentines day menu and she apologized. I said i was a little upset because when i made the reservation (3 weeks prior), on the OpenTable website, it did not say anything about a special menu. She came back with water and said the manager was sorry but there was an issue with OpenTable not putting up their menu (but no manager came to tell us this, they made the server tell us). I continued to tell her that I had also looked at their personal website to review the menu and decide what I wanted, and the ONLY thing pertaining to valentines day was that they were going to have a special wine and to reserve it so they dont sell out, NOTHING about only a limited menu being offered. I also told her that when the host called to confirm my reservation, they did not say anything to inform me that there was a limited menu and to ensure i was aware and ok with that. If she had done that, I would have cancelled my reservation. She again, was sorry. We told her we were going to leave. The manager never came over to say anything. On our way our, we told the hostess about why we were leaving, still never got a manager or a manager never followed up out to apologize. I was very upset, my night was ruined and i was now hungry and having to drive around and find a place that had availability. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I have eaten at Jack's and have had it delivered several times. I have always found the food to be really good. The steaks are great and cooked to order. The au gratin potatoes are amazing! Haven't tried all the appetizers but my two faves are the calamari and seared tuna. We ordered dinner for delivery this past Saturday night and were completely surprised that one of the steaks was significantly smaller. It looked like a 4 oz instead of a 6 oz. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. I explained the problem to the general manager, TJ. He was apologetic for the difference in sizes of our steaks and offered to have another one cooked and delivered right away. It was delivered very quickly. Mistakes happen, it's only human. But how a restaurant handle those mistakes is telling. I was thoroughly pleased with the customer service and I will no doubt continue to give Jack's my business. Thank you for another great meal!!

Food is always good the various times I've been there. Can be casual or formal dining. Caters to the Baldwin area. Wait time for food is decent. Check out specials and the times. Great customer service and atmosphere is relaxing with a bar and on some nights (maybe most) there is great live music. For the price food portion is fair.

I had visited Jack's a few years ago and simply was not impressed. The food was barley ok, the service was poor, and the prices were outrageous. The atmosphere has always been nice though. I recently moved back to Baldwin Park, and decided to give them another try as I had company in town, and they wanted steak. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. The food was good, and everyone enjoyed their meals, although it was still on the pricey side. The service was top notch, and the ambiance was again as nice as ever. I will definitely return to Jack's for a nice meal sometime to confirm the transformation!

I like Jack's Steakhouse. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant where you will find couples, families and friends all enjoying a meal. We've gone a few times and always enjoy ourselves. I love the location in the heart of Baldwin Park. The restaurant is a comfortable size. It's especially nice when they have live music, as it adds to the ambiance. There is a small bar with a television for sports that always seems to draw people. I prefer the patio where there is a nice view of the fountain. Jack's has some drink specials during happy hour; $ 5 house wines & two for one draft beers. I appreciate their specialty drink menu. Lots of flavorful concoctions, at decent prices. I'm not much of a steak eater, so I can't elaborate on all the different cuts. We did get the New York Strip and found it tasty, and big enough to split. You get a choice of potato or sautéed vegetables with your meats. They also have a number of side dishes you can add to your meal. One if my favorite dishes on the menu is the Black & Bleu Salad, while my daughter enjoys the filet mignon on the kids menu. We've gone on Thursdays to get their $5 burger special. The tasty Fries are $2 more. If red meat isn't your cup of tea, you will find a number of seafood options as well. While they offer a handful of desserts, my kids enjoy partaking in the creating their own Smores. There's something about being able to roast your marshmallows at the table that makes it a fun treat. I look forward to trying Jack's Sunday Brunch. The brunch is from 10:30am-2:00pm. The menu looks delicious, and the $6 Bloody Mary Bar sounds like it would be a hit. What I like about Jack's Steakhouse is its neighborhood feel. We go there to get good food with friendly service in an enjoyable atmosphere.

Definitely gone downhill. Have to say wait staff seemed very unhappy and were somewhat cold and unfriendly. We won't be back any time soon...

I absolutely love this place! Every time I go back it gets better and I find something I like. The filet oscar is amazing, but last night I tried the Brussels sprout hash! That was like heaven in my mouth. I loved enjoying a bottle of wine outside with the dogs! The servers are always really great and knowledgable. I should probably start coming once a week! Thanks y'all!

Jack's tops the list of to do's when I travel to Orlando. The atmosphere of the restaurant is matched with the same sophistication, coziness and ease of the charming neighborhood in which it resides. Parking is a non-issue unlike some of the downtown locations. I am afraid my review of the menu is rather limited due to my inability to order anything other then the filet. The Filet has no pretension, just flavor, texture and always cooked to perfection. Generally I like to hoard my dessert gluttonously but Jack S'mores would not be fun alone. You dinner party will be equipped with graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate, sticks and fire for roasting. Super fun, great taste and lasting memories. Above all the staff at Jack's sets the inviting tone of your experience. I am grateful to have found a location that provides an intelligently constructed wine list served by knowledgeable and warm bartenders. What a rarity! Service is paced appropriately for dinner and the staff is attentive during this time. Something I value in restaurants is consistency and Jack's has established a solid foundation of reliability over my several years of travel. I am anxiously awaiting my next trip to the area and experience at Jack's.

I stopped by Jack's one after noon for a little lunch to-go. I liked the look of the restaurant, classy yet comfortable. The employees I came across were friendly enough. It took about 10 minutes for my burger and fries to be ready. I added Brie cheese for a total of $14. The burger was massive and cooked correctly but was lacking some flavor. The cheese was just laid on top in big blocks and would have been better if given a chance to melt. The outside of the burger was charred in areas making it inedible. I liked the truffle fries- they were light and crisp with a nice amount of seasoning. I'd give Jack's another try with some hesitation- if they can't get a burger right how will they manage something more complicated? The kitchen wasn't busy so there was no excuse to char a burger.

Okay. So, I just had to give this place one last shot. We live in Baldwin Park so having the convenience is nice, but time after time they never fail to disappoint. Over cooked steak, burnt chicken and cold waffles. Did my best to work with the waitress but she wasn't getting it. I must admit, the bar tender was nice and really tried to make it right but frankly it was too late. Never again will I eat here. I wish the mangers and chefs AT&T Jack's actually listen to their patrons and realize that the food is not good and the service is worse!

We have been here multiple times for dinner and twice in the past two weeks for the Sunday Brunch. I believe the Sunday Brunch is a special event they do only during warm months. Food and service has been mostly good during our visits (I once had a very undercooked Filet Mignon). We have enjoyed brunch the past two weeks. The build your own bloody mary's are yummy. It is most likely a ready-made bloody mary mix but one of the best non-homemade bloody mary's that I have had. Last week I tried the Pork Roll Benedict. It was an eggs benedict with pork on a puff pastry. It was very tasty but after a while I got tired of the pork and finished off the dish without it. For me, pork flavor can be kind of overwhelming after awhile. This week I tried the seared tuna tartare. It was mixed with mangos, lime, and cliantro. It was served with crisp triangle chips. I very much enjoyed this dish. Most brunch portions seemed relatively small but we didn't leave hungry. We also went recently for $5 burger night on a Thursday. The burgers are pretty tasty also. Additionally recommended if you are up for wine and cheese, the cheese plate was very good but you get lots of cheese so be sure to have many people there to share it with you.

I am in Baldwin Park for lunch most days and a hunger for a quality hamburger hit me. So I went to Jack's Steakhouse to get a steak burger and fries. The staff was great! super friendly quick to get the order in and served to me. For $8.95 I feasted on a incredible burger cooked medium, I would have cared to see a little more pink as I ordered medium rare, but the taste was wonderful and the fries were crisp. This was close to a perfect lunch so 4 stars for you!

Sunday Brunch I ordered an omelet that you can personalize, it was not made with the ingredients I requested but it was still delicious. I was with a group and saw a few of the other brunch items: Oscar Style Benedict looked great, El Boracho not so great but the Fried Chicken and Waffles stole the show. The Chicken and Waffles not only looked and smelled wonderful but the taste was incredible considering it was not something I would ever order. I recommend this place for brunch, I would love to go back to taste more of the brunch menu and maybe the regular menu.

I went on 3-26-09 with a gift certificate and was very, very disappointed. THE GOOD: Service excellent, environment nice. THE BAD: Overpriced, over-hyped low quality food that you will wait a good while for...on a slow weeknight. French Onion soup: good, but way too much broth and onion in proportion to cheese and bread. For $7 each? I don't think so. Ahi tuna entree: Wasn't really in the mood for this, but waitress highly recommended it...though I don't know why. Interesting concept but poorly executed. The tuna was remarkably underseasoned and very bland. Everything on the plate was bland except for the wasabi mashed potatoes. To top it off, 3/4 of the way through I noticed a hair stuck to the tuna. I had to *yank* it off. Thankfully, it was comped and we got a free dessert. NY Strip, Oscar style: Steak was amazingly low quality...*lots* of fat and gristle. Flavor was essentially "burnt." You'd think the "Oscar style" (grilled asparagus, crabmeat and a hollandaise-like sauce) would save it, but no. The crabmeat mixture was mushy and flavorless, as was the creamy sauce, leaving the dominating flavors as burnt steak and very bitter asparagus. Creme Brulee: This was our free dessert, which was delicious. However it was very pudding-like and nothing like all the creme brulees I've had before, which were much more custard-like (firmer). The fresh strawberry they placed on top appeared inedible. I really got the impression this restaurant is dying and cutting corners, particularly on the steak quality. Had I paid full price our check would have exceeded $100 - I would have been irate had I paid that much for this very disappointing meal. To be fair, maybe I was just there on an off night. I was shocked to see these other positive reviews.

I recently attempted to eat at Jack's Steakhouse in Baldwin Park with my Mother to celebrate my moving into the neighborhood. I figured if the restaurant is in Baldwin Park, it must be good. Definitely not true. My Mom and I both ordered filet mignon. The beef was not a juicy pink on the inside, but more of a gray which made me suspect something was wrong. My Mom had to send her steak back because it was completely raw. She ate her steak, but was not happy because she was eating alone. I had to send my steak back three times. First, overcooked. Second, actually cold in the middle. Third time, it was at least warm in the middle, but when I went to take a bite it was the worst taste I'd ever experienced. I had lost my appetite after 35 minutes of waiting. We asked to speak to the manager, because I was surprised that a steakhouse would let both steaks be sent back, and not apologize. When the manager came, he was incredibly rude, and didn't care at all that we had a pleasant experience. If I owned this restaurant, I'd fire the current manager and find one who cares about the quality of steak that is served, and who is receptive and cares about the customer's experience. If you like steak, do not eat here. You will be dissapointed.

If you love a traditional steak house experience then prepared to be satisfied with Jack's Steak House who presents extraordinary cuisine in a great environment. They serve some of the very finest in steaks and wines in the area for the price and has an amazing staff that makes every visit enjoyable. Jack's Steak House features contemporary design that creates an atmosphere of simple elegance. I would always suggest the filet because it is always the best!

I had a Living Social coupon $100 worth of food for $50, and I was dining alone. (heh heh hehhhh.) So I was looking forward to a nice no-holds-barred $100 steak dinner with all the trimmings. It was, overall, a decidedly meh experience. I started with a CRAB RANGOON ARTICHOKE DIP which was burnt and unbelievably bland. Then I had the filet mignon oscar medium-rare ($31). It was cooked properly and tender, and the oscar topping did have a decent portion of lump crab. I added an 8 oz lobster tail ($26 add-on) which was delivered undercooked and mushy. I sent it back and it came back better after a quick nuke. I also had a glass of KJ. Of course, there is always room for creme brulee. Instead of a delicate thin crispy shell topping, it arrived with a thick hard layer of dark brown sugar, like peanut brittle. When I dug my spoon in to get a bite, the shell remained solidly intact, and the creme brulee squooshed up the side of the bowl. So the bill was $97, plus tax and tip. I am SO glad I didn't actually pay that amount. It was barely worth the $50.

I saw a documentary made by Full Sail students about Jack's Steakhouse and it inspired me to go and try it. The weird experience begins: So it was my boyfriends birthday and I finally decided this is the time to try it out. We walked in, greeted the hostess, and she just stood there and looked at us until we said we wanted a table for two. Ok? so we sit down and we are one of the tables seated. There is only two people at the bar. After five minutes pass our waitress shows up and talks to us, but while she is telling us the specials she stops mind way and walks to the bar and starts talking to this guy at the bar. WEIRD I know...She walks back up to us and asks if we are ready to order so then we order and she drops out ticket of then she sits at the bar with the customers and ignores us. We notice the one and only cook walks out of the kitchen and hangs out at the bar and he is wear cargo camo shorts. Mind you this is supposed to be 5 star dining... our food finally comes and my boyfriends do called hash looks like a vegetable salad and is bland. His burger is burnt. The positive was that my 6 oz steak was cooked perfect and my potatoes Au Gratin were good. However, my meal was $25 + $3 for seasoning(peppercorn) +$2 up charge for my side. Trying to get the waitresses attention was extremely difficult as if we were interrupting her life for a refill of water. Over all it was an uncomfortable experience and I could get better quality at Outback for cheaper.

The meals can be expensive, but it's a nice place, the service is quite good, and I have to admit that even for the price, the Oscar-style filet mignon, cooked rare and served with mash is pretty hard to beat. In the past, I've been here through restaurant.com . Since my last visit to Jack's, they've made it so that the normal restaurant.com sales codes don't work for them. Meaning, while you might be able to get a $25 certificate for most places for $2 at certain times of the month, Jack's will never allow those certificates to go for less than $10. Too bad -- with that Oscar style filet coming in at something like $32 per person, they were still making plenty of money on us. I don't like that they've exempted themselves from these sales, so I probably won't return any time soon. However, I won't ding the rating because of that decision.

If you plan on frequenting this place it is great. The bartender will always remember you and the food is pretty darn good. The steaks are tender but they make the potatoes taste funny. I think its peppers in there. This visit I got the wedge salad( would definitely recommend!) and the grilled scallops ( request them pan seared) . The salad was awesome. The vinaigrette blue cheese was great! The scallops could have been cooked more but the lobster risotto was wonderful! I think if you are looking for a low key good meal with some wine, this is the place. Sit at the bar,it will be a great experience.

Keep in mind in reading older reviews about this place that it has gone through several changes in management/ownership in the past few years. I used to think it sucked and was filthy inside, but having been very pleasantly surprised during a handful of trips in the past six months I feel that it warrants this mostly favorable review. PROS: It must be hard to overcome the failings of your predecessor in a restaurant location, especially when you decide to keep the same name, but Chef Chris is managing to do that. The Sea Scallops and Risotto are to die for (no longer on the menu as a full meal, but you can still get it that way - just ask), and they have delivered a decent Sunday brunch on the 3-4 occassions that we have attended in the past six month. My wife particularly likes the Oscar-style Eggs Benedict (crab cakes - yummy), and I LOVE the in-house smoked salmon platter, which Chris does himself. If you even remotely like smoked salmon this is a "must try" item. They also do decent bloddy mary's and mimosas. We've been 3 times for dinner and never been disappointed. CONS: The wait staff can be a little off-putting. I think it's immaturity, as many seem to be very young. We are always picky about which table we get seated at (at any restuarant) and we naturally gauge the quality of the hostess by their willingness to accomodate our table request. We've experienced some tisking and sour glares when requesting a corner table in a closed section at Jacks. Give me a break - the place only has about 20 tables, so how difficult is it to seat us in a quite corner away from the noise of the ktichen and other patrons. Grow up. So... minus one for the hostess issues and occassional wait staff ignorance. Attention to detail is certainly lacking there as well, with napkins and sivlerware sometimes missing. Overall, if you can look past the occassional naivity of the youngish wait staff, you'll likely be satisfied with what comes out of the kitchen.

Had the Black and Bleu potato for lunch. It has grilled onions, bleu cheese and chunks of steak. I didn't care for it because the meat was too rare for my liking. It would have been nice if the server asked how I wanted my meat cooked. It was a bit chewy.

I purchased a discounted coupon from Resturant.com after searching for places to eat while in the Orlando area. First off, the restaurant was suppose to be within 10 minutes of our zip code where we were staying, it took 35-40 minutes to get there! I guess they have large zip code area's! Great new neighborhood, real bad experience at the restaurant. I wrote a review through Resturant.com when I got home from this dinner, I have never heard from the restaurant owner with an apology which goes a long way with me. They do get a copy of the review! My partner and I eat out often, enjoy great food and tip very well. Having both been in the business, we are lenient as well. The waitress was rarely at the table to offer her service during the entire meal. The hostess had to pick up the slack that our waitress couldn'tt handle. Her excuse (the waitress) was that she had a large table outside (6 guys). They were more than likely drinking a lot and she probably thought her tip would be big if she gave them all her attention. We both ordered steaks, both were overly seasoned which ruined the flavor and both steaks were so under done I questioned in my mind how a "steakhouse" could screw up so badly. The mushrooms were cold. The coffee was also not hot and lacked quality, perhaps it was old. Unfortunately, a 20% gratuity was added to the bill because it was a coupon so a lower tip for the horrible service did not a message across to the waitress. Would I give them a second chance? Only if the meal was free. Very expensive for what you get, which isn't much!

I've never had a bad tasting meal at Jack's, but there's always something weird going on there. It's perfect for when I have a steak craving - convenient location and all. But the waitstaff and atmosphere leaves something to be desired. It's not bad, just... odd. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but each time I've been here something weird has happened. Haha! I'm not sure if that's helpful or not... Yes, you will get a good meal at Jack's. Will you be raving over anything other than the food? Probably not.

Jack's is a great steakhouse that does many things very well... as discussed the brunch is excellent but I also have never had a bad dinner. As for Gary's experience below, I cannot relate. I guess anyone can have an off night, but to ask for a 'free meal' to give it a second try, seems a bit over the top... maybe someone just looking for a free meal.

I loved this place. It wasn't super cheap but I didn't need to max out the credit card to pay for dinner. It was about $100 for two entrees, an app and a cheap bottle of wine. The service was great and the food was even better. I left my leftovers on the table when we left and was really sad when I realized it. I will definitely be going back!

The service was good but the steaks were not as good as when I went earlier this year. The steaks were either burnt or chewy.

I had a late Sunday night meal here with my girlfriend and enjoyed it. We started with the salt and pepper crusted tuna which was yummy. I then got a petite filet with baked potato and roasted root vegetables. It was delish. The steak was cooked perfecty to my medium-rare preference and nicely seasoned. The vegetables were also very tasty. Our waiter was nice and attentive, even though it was the end of the night. They have a s'mores dessert (you get to make and roast them yourself) which I want to try next time!
