It's a nice atmosphere, pretty quick service esp in the bar area where we most always sit, and has a good house wine which is always 2-4-1. Our server also is the bartender sometimes, so she had no problem getting my bf the gin dirty he wanted. However, the menu is too varied and generic; I really had a hard time deciding what to order, nothing stood out. We had the mini spinach starter; bland cheesy dip with warmed chips - just filling, not really tasty. He had the full rack of ribs which were juicy and flavorful, but his fries were greasy and cold. I had the chicken Caesar salad because it was described as marinated grilled chicken, shredded romano cheese and warm polenta croutons. I was very disappointed to find little Caesar dressing, bland grated cheese and the store bought dry croutons on it. Oh, it did have 3 little pieces of warm polenta which were tasty but overcooked brown. I was really looking forward to a good Caesar with a twist, but this was not it. Meh. It's too bad the food is average to marginal...the place has a nice atmosphere and a good happy hour. Meh, meh.

My family loves this place. It's where we go for Easter brunch/lunch every year and celebrate many anniversaries and birthdays. They've done some renovations recently that really change the look and feel of the place. They knocked out a wall to open up the bar, added some couches and closed a back part of the restaurant off for more private dining. Last night I met a girlfriend there for our monthly girl's dinner. I was surprised to see they had live music too, which was a nice change of pace. We met for drinks and dinner, but we ending up deciding against dinner. Personally, I'm a big fan of Houlihan's appetizers and their drink specials (2-for-1 wine, wells and draft beer all the time.) I also like the bar that changes color. :) I LOVE the Jumbo Stuffed Shrooms (although over the years the shrooms have gotten much smaller) and the Spinach Dip. Don't get the dip with tortilla chips though, do yourself a favor and order the larger one with the cheesy lavosh crackers. It's definitely worth it! You can actually pile the spinach dip on the crackers and they won't break. I've tried all different options over the years - pot roast, flatbreads (which are yummy), french dip and the fire grilled BBQ salmon salad (another favorite, their salads seem to all be pretty good) - but I keep coming back for the SHROOMS and SPINACH DIP. And the anytime 2-for-1 drinks, of course!

Not the greatest for vegetarians... went for lunch & they were out of veggie burgers, so had to settle for fish tacos. Close enough :-/ Cool atmosphere but probably won't be going back.

I love Houlihans! I live in So Florida, but I went to UCF, so whenever I visit Orlando I want to eat at Houlihan's. Most recently, I ordered the Mac-n-cheese off of the small plates menu and it was Delicious!! The Shrooms are always a staple that I get everytime I go. If I am really hungry I will get the Cream-cheese herb stuffed chicken breast (stuffed with the same stuff as the Shrooms). I really love Houlihan's food and not with the small plates menu and the smaller prices, Im giving it 5 stars.

Tonight, my son and i got our grub on at Hoolihan's. I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised. We were here once before about a year ago, and to put it bluntly, the food sucked big weenies. However, the meal tonight was great, and the service was impeccable. For dinner, we started off with the fried stuffed mushrooms. They were huge and oh so tasty! The horseradish infused dipping sauce was just icing on the cake. Yum! Considering our past experience, we opted to eat fairly cheap to test the waters. We ordered black angus cheese burgers and fries. They arrived perfectly prepared and were decked with lettuce, tomato, and in our case, cheddar cheese. The fries arrived hot, crispy, and appeared to be fresh as well. What impressed me the most about tonight though, was the service. Our server, Michael, is an old school waiter. He welcomed us to the restaurant, treated us like royalty, and was so attentive to our needs, we didn't have to ask for a single thing. The man deserves a raise. It was practically a fine dining experience thanks to Michael. After tonight's outcome, we will definitely return.

I'm at an in between here because half of our party of 9 didn't enjoy their food. The waitress wasn't very nice when the party returned their food. I work in the food industry and I understand sometimes the food isn't good. The thing is her attitude wasn't very friendly to the people in our party that didn't enjoy their food. Also, the 20% gratuity for a bigger party, when we didn't have the best service isn't the best, that doesn't seem very logical. We will not be returning.

No greeting when we walked in, no greeting when we walked out, sat ourselves, got our own menus, no utensils...... I used work for this chain, kind of sad what it has become. Food is still pretty good though on the upside, but the service aspect needs a lot of work. #SupplyGuy

I have been in many many times. This is the first time I've been able to write a review about it. I had lunch with two of my friends, I ordered the buffalo chicken blue salad. My two friends one at chicken wings, and the other had jambalaya. I have always enjoyed this buffalo chicken salad, it's a nice array of greens, just the right amount of dressing, and spicy buffalo chicken is always good. My colleague had naked wings, which were obviously fried but not greasy at all. My other colleague had jambalaya and a white bean salad. The white bean salad was so pretty that he allowed me to take a picture of it. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. Definitely will be visiting again.

This was our first time here in years. We came here to catch the end of the Packers game, and it turned out they had some happy hour specials going. The Thai wings are really good, and the egg rolls are pretty good too. The selection of hard ciders was lacking (they only have one). We used to come here a lot for the brunch (mainly for my wife; I'm not a breakfast guy). Unfortunately the quality fell off and we stopped coming. If we're in the area and craving wings, we might stop by here again.

Very unpleasant dinner. Very over priced. Their burgers were terrible. The place is very tacky. Can't tell what theme their going for. The atmosphere was just Blah... I paid 55 dollars for such a crappy meal.

For a chain, I like their homestyle cooking selection. Their Down Home Pot Roast was very good and mixed with plenty of veggies, over mashed potatoes. As a con, I again I have a problem with the saltiness of food at this and some other restaurants. Is it possible to ask for less salt in advance? This is a good place for groups. I last came with about 10 co-workers for a pre-Christmas luncheon. Although it's been awhile since I had a drink here, I remember their full bar having a good selection. And they advertiser a martini flight, which I don't see other establishments offering.

We were pleasantly surprised with Houlihans! Went in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my daughter and husband and we expected it to be about as good as any chain place; we were wowed! The service was incredible! Our server went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The food was really good. We had the hummus and pita for an appetizer, the side salad which was way better than the average side salad, it had cheese bacon and homemade dressing. Then we each had sandwiches I had the salmon BLT and my hubby got the mushroom Swiss burger which was perfectly cooked. We will no doubt return soon I heard they have a pretty nice brunch too!

The most absolutely boring, flavorless, and lifeless salad I have ever eaten. Looking for a good salad, head next door to Chic-Fil-A where the produce is fresher, the chicken has flavor and the service is better. Add to the horrid salad, the service was unimpressive. I rarely low-ball a tip but I made an exception for this server. Very VERY disappointing.

Went for my girlfriends mothers birthday. My first time here! And I must say the food and service was awesome. My favorite was the mushrooms that were fried soooooo good and I don't like mushroom but it was that good. The pot roast was good just needs a little more flavor to it. The grill chicken was a bit dry but good. Over all I will definitely be going again for the fried mushrooms!

  • Cheryl S.

The food menu is very large and diverse. The beer menu sucks. I had jambalaya, which was good but not outstanding. I like their 2-for-1 happy hour and the casual atmosphere. This seems like a place you can go with a group that can't decide what they want to do or where they want to go. I probably won't go back here unless someone else chooses it, but it's an OK place for food, drinks, and entertainment.

We were greeted warming at the door and seated quickly. Our order was promptly taken and I ordered the fish tacos with French fries. My hubby had the chicken lettuce wraps with a bowl of tortilla soup. Both delivered very fast. He liked the wraps but I agreed the soup was overly salted. The 2 fish tacos were ginormous and very tasty. When in town for a show at Plaza Live I would come back. Service was fast, and the food was good !

Like some other chains, this one has been closing some locations, and I'm awfully glad it's still here. The place is always busy, and it's funny, but both a friend of mine and I always get the same thing here- the Pot Roast. I mean, more places should offer that I guess! Overall, nice staff, pretty interior, busy, tasty, portions are okay, not big.

So before now I had only been here for drinks at the bar. Yesterday a friend and I stopped here for brunch after shopping. We bypassed the buffet (I never eat buffet style) and ordered the almond crusted tilapia with buerre blank. It was awesome and I'm posting a picture. I almost licked the plate. Oh and the BOGO house wines were ice cold and tasty :D

Came here for a coworker goodbye party. The server was great with a moving, changing crowd. The drinks and food were ok. It is good variety and price range for a large group.

Went here with my bf for the brunch buffet last weekend. They had a nice spread, with lunch and breakfast offerings. I had an omelet that was made in front of me and I got to pick what went in and it was very good. The bacon-wrapped sirloin and yogurt parfaits were also yummy. However that's about where the good part ends. The potatoes just tasted gross, no hot sauce or ketchup could fix them, the grits were very bland and the "cheese" on them tasted and felt like wax, and the roast beef was the driest I've ever had in my life. With the meal costing $12.99 ($19.00 with coffee and tip), I'm going to have to say it's not at all worth it.

Despite there being almost no one, the service was slow. I tried grilled salmon asparagus, and Kansas steak. Not very yummy. Everything was quite acceptable except the brown rice.. It was spoiled, smelly and tasted awful.

This is an OK place for a drink and a light bite. We have been here a few times and enjoyed it. The appetizers are appealing, we generally stick with those.

The food served was very good. They have a good selection of steak, chicken, pasta, seafood, salads, and sandwiches. The service was good most of the time. At the end of the evening while we were just hanging out and talking, I thought the server could have checked on us more frequently. The negative thing I have to add is about the seating. We were a party of eight adults celebrating a birthday. We were seated at two six(?) top round tables that were pulled together. The distance from one end to the other was too far to carry on a conversation. I know that they have smaller tables, rectangular, that they could have pulled together to make eight and given us. And in the backroom, I saw rectangular tables for eight people and I just wondered why we weren't there. Before I go to Houlihan's Orlando again, I will call and ask what it takes to get a different table.

Fine for a late night bite. Don't expect too much. The wedge salad is good. The chicken fingers are too. The veggie burger is not bad.

I just stopped in for drinks one night before going out with a friend so this rating is just for the bar. It was a Sunday night around 7 pm and the whole place was pretty empty. There seemed to be more servers standing around than customers. The bartender was a nice lady (sorry I forgot her name) and was cheery. She and I had some fun conversation since she was not busy. There were only 3 other people at the bar with us and they were all into their cell phones. Anyway, my friend wanted something special and she was able to create just the drink she wanted just by describing the taste she was looking for. I was very non creative and had a beer. btw... happy hour is all day... two for one drinks and special prices on many items! The bar started to get a little more busy by the time we were leaving so hopefully the bartender had a better night. So if you are in need of a quick drink before going out for the night, Houlihan's bar might just do the trick! Enjoy!

I always enjoy coming here because there's hardly anyone there. Maybe it's all the past reviews? The chop chop salad is fantastic and they have 2 for 1 drinks during the day.... If you're a day drinker like me:)

We usually head up to Houlihans on friday nights. They have a 2 man band playing at the bar. (not really sure the name of them) But it's very low key, one man plays the bongos the other playing the guitar. Their song choices are mixed, a little bit of something for everyone. It's never too loud where you can't sit and enjoy your meal. The parking lot seems full, but the bar area is usually where the crowd is at. We have never waited to be seated even when the restaurant area seemed full. Not once have we had bad service. A little slow on the drink refills sometimes, but not really anything to complain about. I did of course sign up for their e-mails to get the free appetizer, and they do e-mail me weekly with some type of special. Unfortunately is usually for a Wednesday night. The food I have tried has never been disappointing. FARMHOUSE CLUB, smoked ham, mesquite turkey, bacon (yum bacon), basil pesto aioli, buttery gouda, whole-grain bread. Also tried SOUTHWEST GRILLED CHICKEN WRAP spicy pecans, red peppers, bacon (more bacon yessss), tortilla straws, pepper jack cheese, garlic ranch, house salsa. Drinks are usually 2 for 1 another plus in my book.

I always try to visit a place twice before writing a review. I gave this place three chances to win me over and I regret the wasted time. The first time was a decent experience. A girlfriend and I went for dinner and drinks one night. I had the salmon panzanella salad and it was quite good. The salmon was cooked perfectly, which apparently most places find difficult to do. I cleaned my plate, which is very unusual. My friend ordered another salad and said it was great. After the meal and great service from our bubbly server, I would've given it a solid four. Nothing over the top about the food, but good nonetheless. The second time I went was a bad experience all around. While the server was fun and attentive, she suggested a few items that were more than lackluster. We ordered the hummus, a trio of sliders (pot roast, veggie, and burger), and the french onion soup to share. The white bean and artichoke hummus was beyond bland. I couldn't taste any artichoke at all. I had to salt it myself for the slightest bit of depth. The sliders were...well, foul. And that's putting it nicely. The burger was the best of the three and it was bland topped with fried blah. The pot roast was so dry and hard it could've easily been confused with expired jerky. The veggie was hands down the worst thing I've had in my mouth in quite some time (and I recently endured a cocktail from Wally's). We both took a bite simultaneously, scowled, and proceeded to spit out said bites into napkins. It was molded mush with the faint taste of sour meat. Hard to believe since it was just beans and seasonings. Woof. And for the best part, half way through this crap food experience, we saw a small cockroach crawling on the wall of the booth. I immediately jumped up. The server walked by and asked what was up. After explaining, she picked up our stuff and moved us as fast as she could and said the manager would be with us shortly. I began to think she has had to do this before. The manager came over and was super nice. He apologized profusely and said the building had been sprayed the night before. I chose to believe him. He offered to buy us shots and even take one with us. It's was one in the afternoon. Not really my thing. And I thought it was pretty strange that someone in a professional position would make such an offer to be honest. Either way, he comped our entire meal. We had no idea until we asked for the check. They did their part and we appreciated it. But it still didn't make up for the horrible food that more than likely all came off of a Cisco truck. Today, my father and I decided to give it a try. He can't exactly walk far distances so we are slightly limited in our choices. We waited for five (I counted) minutes before being greeted and seated by a rather rude blonde woman. We then waited seven (I counted) minutes to not be greeted by a server. We decided to leave. And as we walking out the front door, the manager was standing at the host stand and didn't say a word. Not the same manager as before, I might add. I'm done giving this place a chance.

To start that place was freezing. Ill owed by awful service had to ask a few times to get drinks and food told the staff that we had three more coming sat us at two small of a table and when they came they didn't know what to do with the new guests.

Cheese fritters.....yum! It's a fried ball of cheese that come in the roasted tomato soup. I always ask for extra because they're so good and go perfectly with the soup! The chicken fettuccine alfedo is something I always usually get when I go, which is always enough food to save for leftovers for your next lunch or dinner. It's also delicious. Another one of my favorites is the spinach dip! They took the chicken cordon bleu off the menu, which I was sad to hear about :( I had their mac n' cheese for the first time yesterday and I was very disappointed. It seemed more of an alfredo based sauce than your traditional cheese sauce. The sauce also separated, which made it not enjoyable because instead of getting the creaminess from the sauce, it was more buttery and oily. They do have a great happy hour, which all day every day you get 2-4-1s. Also on Wednesdays, you can pay $10 for all you can drink wine and they have specials on appetizers as well. If you join their e-club, you also get frequent emails (at least one a week) with good deals and coupons, which really helps since in my opinion, Houlihan's is pretty pricey for the type of food you receive.

Yelp's got the hours right now. Also, the 2-4-1 has changed - wells only now - still pretty good though.

UPDATED REVIEW: Drinks are good. 2 for 1 wells (vodka/cranberry was good and strong... 2 of them for under $6) I would definitely go back... I really didn't eat anything other than the firecracker shrimp... which btw are amazing. Bartender was very good... wish I could remember her name.

We had drinks and the garnish where old, the place had a dark feel to it. The fountain drinks tasted really bad. The food was not bad but very greasy. The plates where old. Not a very good experience.

Met friends for dinner. I had eaten here about 3 years ago and could not eat the french onion soup as it tasted like salty broth - so salty. Tonight I ordered a dirty martini with extra olives - it came and was not dirty. I was nice about it and sent it back. I watched as the bartender squirted more brine into it - didn't shake or anything. Waitress brought back - I sent it back to the bar. The server said "I'm a bartender, I know what you want" She brought my drink and it was perfect. Why couldn't she have recognized this the two times before? I was in a basic mood and ordered chicken tenders tossed in wing sauce and fries. The fries were cold and the wing sauce tasted like bar-b-q sauce. A friend had a burger and fries - the fries were cold. When it came time to pay there were two bills each couple sitting across from one another. The checks came out and she had put them together as if we were sitting diagonal from one another. It was bizarre. The company was great. The food, well, will keep me from going back. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't even busy..

Went here for my birthday. My server was quite friendly. We were greeted immediately and told about the specials and happy hour. My fiance ordered the buffalo wings and I ordered loaded potato soup and chicken fettucinne Alfredo. My soup was good and the bread they served with it was good. The fettucinne Alfredo was just ok. The chicken breast was really dry. I ended up just eating the pasta and leaving the chicken. My fiance said his wings were ok but the ranch dressing was really sweet, almost like honey mustard which changed the flavor of the wings. Overall everything was ok. It wasn't bad but I'm in no hurry to rush back.

My dinner was good, except for the sad salad of white and yellow iceberg lettuce. Service was very good. The booth was threadbare; holes in the seat upholstery. The interior hasn't been updated since the place was opened ten plus years ago. Dining room is always loud.

The brunch buffet is pretty good, for a decent price. They make omelettes fresh to order right in front of you! We've had the same male server both times we are brunch here, and he's great!

Oh Houlihan's you're so close to a 4 star review but I'm putting you at 3.5 for now. I find myself dwelling on my experience so many things I like about this place, and a few things that just don't do it for me. You're a chain, and I'm a little biased I must say. I tend to like to promote mom and pop places, I try not to hold your chain status against you but it always is something I think about. You got me smiling with your use of Tillamook Cheese. This is a cheese that will never let you down, made with love at the Tillamook cheese factory and creamery in Tillamook, Oregon. The bar area is nice, there is a little loungey area with couches. I'd come here for some drinks and an appetizer, has a very comfy atmosphere. Service was pleasant, friendly and attentive, beer specials were decent. I ordered the fish tacos. which were fried and huge, they came with some chips and salsa. The chips and salsa felt like an after thought, they were neither bad nor really good. The fish taco's were good but they were so filled that I couldn't pick it up. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. They weren't the best fish tacos I've ever had nor the worst. I had part of the Tillamook cheese beef sandwich which I liked and next time I come back I'm going to order theTtillamook cheese burger. A decent chain with a few surprises on the menu as far as ingredients go, and a few okay dishes mixed in with much better ones.

comfortable and consistent for an average chain. Pros are the great lighting, gracious staff and manager, nice portions and usually tasty food (be selective, nothing fancy). Cons are the always too chilly temperature, terribly LOUD live music that isn't background and makes it difficult to relax and talk, limited selection of decent wines Nice to have it in the neighborhood, would love to see their more upscale H take over the space.

  • Bill T.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions. The food and service are usually okay. In fact, I like their pot roast, it has a nice demi-glace sauce. I would have given them 3.5. That was before we tried the Sunday brunch. All I can say is don't. The food was nasty and the "mimosas" were a 2 dollar small glass of mediocre orange juice. Save your money and go elsewhere. After that i may not go back.

I have been a regular at the Houlihan's in Hershey PA so when I came down to Orlando to live... my smile was big when I saw the restaurant. Something a little different though... menus are different to each one you might go to. They are franchised so say the one in hershey had pan seared scallops with mashed potatoes appetizer and asparagus but there was a pesto and sour sauce. Down here they just put mashed potatoes, green beens and the 4 or 2 scallops. No fancy sauce. I would encourage anyone wanting a light fare to try it. Bartenders are always courteous but then again everytime I go... I do sit at the bar and I seem to have a new bartender that I have never met. lol Special tip: Sign up for the email newsletter for the locations you go to. Then you will get free entree coupons for your birthday.

Can't really complain... The food is usually not bad. I've usually been pretty happy each time I've gone. Usually end up hittin up the Brentwood Chicken Sandwich. It's usually decent but it always make me think of how much better the Southern Chicken Sandwich is at Pourhouse Downtown. The ole wifey usually get the Buffalo Chicken Salad which is quite enormous. It's also very tasty. Meals are a little expensive for the quality you end up getting though. I believe the sandwich was more expensive than $10 considering it's just a chicken sandwich with fries. Here's it's usually always Happy Hour. Basically their deal is they mark up their drinks somewhat but they are 2-for-1. So it's still some sort of a discount. Lately I've been getting the Top Shelf Long Island Iced Tea in a freaking pitcher. It's quite the huge drink and well worth it. I will say the menu has changed in the past year or so I believe. Added a decent amount of appetizers and small plates to choose from. I will say that I think the menu update was for the better. Also, the booths are relatively pretty big so you can kind of get that privacy if you are looking for it. I can bring my 5-month year old daughter here and not have to worry about bothering people around me.

We drive by Houlihan's at least once a week, but had never eaten there until we received an email coupon for a free soup and dessert if we purchased an entree. Sold! Our experience was...mixed. Pros: The food was tasty (my enchiladas were delighfully cheesy, though Hubby's burger was a bit on the small side), and their email club sends frequent and worthwhile coupons. If we return, I'd like to try some of the Small Plates, like the truffle mac and cheese or one of the specialty fries. Cons: The service was AWFUL. The waitress claims everything was backed up in the kitchen, but other people's food seemed to come out ok. We waited at least 15 minutes between each course. For a Wednesday night, that's just ridiculous.

I came here with my friend for a light meal before catching a Broadway play. We politely informed the waitress we kinda had some time restraints as we were heading somewhere. She said "Oh, you want everything at once?". Yes, we said. We each ordered a glass of wine that seemed to take forever. She came over with water, saying the bartender had to open the bottles of wine & started to walk away. We managed to stop her so we could order. We both said the Tuscan White Bean Salad sounded good, so we BOTH ordered it. My friend also ordered a flatbread & I ordered the French Onion Soup. The flatbread & soup were delicious. However, I have to question why the Tuscan White Bean SALAD is called a SALAD?? It is more a layered terrine or maybe a de-constructured Bruschetta. The only greens were what appeared to be wilted arugula. It was tasty, but I wouldn't put it in the "salad" classification. Finally... Our waitress was sweet, but a little under-trained. Her timing was off & we barely made it to the play because she disappeared for long periods before we could finally get the check finalized. I'll give it another try though because I have been told the pot roast is good.

I've been a few times. Each time I hope to be impressed it ends in failure. Their menu has quite a variety and I've tried salads, chicken nachos, spring rolls, etc. But nothing was all that good. Recently I ordered the goat cheese artichoke poppers and buffalo wings. When I bit into the artichoke poppers there was some kind of flavor that I could not put my finger on right away. It was strong and masked the rest of the flavors. Then I had it! It was horseradish sauce. The popper was placed on top of horseradish sauce!! Really? the menu said thyme and lemon zest. Nothing about horseradish. Needless to say I was super disappointed and couldn't believe someone would ruin poppers like that. Love goat cheese and love artichoke! So sad :( the wings are pretty good...great flavor and very tender but my disappointment overshadowed the goodness of them. I know I know...maybe I'm over exaggerating a bit...but oh well. I would go back to Houlihans but only to sit outside on the porch with a glass of wine because it does have a nice atmosphere. That's about it.

I've never been overly impressed with Houlihan's, and this visit was basically average. They have some decent menu ideas with the small plates, but everything just feels overpriced for what it is. As another reviewer had mentioned, everything tasted as if it was bathed in salt. Happy hour specials are good, and they had a two man band there on Friday night which was nice background noise. Overall, I would not make a tremendous effort to go back here over other casual dining restaurants.

First time at Houlihans, we were on our way to Burgerfi and it got voted down. Which is probably for the best, I mean i dont care what they "Supposedly" feed my cow! So we then went to 4 Rivers in WP, but there wasn't any parking, and saw that stupid line and decided to go find a place on 50. We pulled out our trusty entertainment guide and found a $10 off $30 order, so we decided to stop by. We ordered burgers and grilled chicken, both were good, also green beans and mashed potatoes which were also very good. With the coupon it was a pretty good deal, but to me was still kind of average. Just glad we tried it out, since never gone there before. They have one on university and would go there in the future. Prices are higher on the better entrees, $19.99 for a 7 oz sirloin steak was pretty high for a place like that (again outback sirloin steak is $9.99 ) Half rack baby backs were $15.99. Since first visit wanted to keep it simple. Coupons would fix this price issue nicely in the future. The place was kind of empty, and our server wasn't all that great, but friendly enough. One thing two independent tables had 2 year olds that were screaming, not the restaurants fault, just bad parents. I just thought odd that there were two tables like this. It is a nice place inside although the Hostess and people in the front are diggy. Tip: Free WiFi

Went here over a weekend with my husband. Basically it was WAY over priced...and apparently most of the free world thought so too because it was DEAD inside. I also gave some thought about ordering a bloody mary and thank GOD I had the wherewithall to ask the server to ask the bartender what they put in it.....Tobasco, Worcestershire, Horseradish AND blue cheese? Are you trying to kill me before I even get the check? Blech!

Pedestrian. I know that is an over used expression - but this is one of the times that it fits perfectly. My impression was that it was a classier looking Bennigan's. I even think I liked the food at Bennigan's better than this place. I ran to the restroom as soon as I got there - and I have to say that was the one moment when I was impressed. The decor and the fixtures are beautiful. The food - not so much. I had the lunch special of 2 sliders and fries. I had the pot roast and pulled pork - not much difference in the taste and the rolls they use are hard. I just ate the meat out of both, which was pretty meager, and nibbled on the fires (which I asked to be done extra crispy and they were not). My friend had the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad. Good for them for trying to be a little inventive with a Banana-Ginger Vinaigrette. But the salad was, again, pedestrian. The tuna was pale with no added sesame or cracked pepper crust and the taste was bland. Very disappointing. Certainly I would go w/ a group of friends for a Happy Hour, if they picked the place. I mean I'm not going to boy-cot it or anything, but with so many places offering great, creative food why bother?

I like their Brunch on Sunday a lot!! But do not think about being on a diet when you go there because you WILL gain weight. It's only $13 or $14 and you can eat as much as you want. They started it around Easter time and I hope they will keep doing it. They have a shef on a floor and he will cook your scrubbed egg with your choice in front of you. We go there dinner time too. I like their Mushroom Ball for appetizer and Permarsion Past for main. Nice place and nice atmosphere. I like to sit in Bar area too. On Monday night they do trivia at bar and it's fun.:)

Dear Houlihan's For goodness sake please give your bartender some decent mixers to work with! I didn't know you could mess up a dirty martini but there was just something "off" about the olive juice. I then tried a lemon drop and had to send it back. It tasted like it was made with cheap lemonade mix that had gone rancid. The lite bites you served us were really tasty - Parmesan french fries, truck stop fries, flat bread pizza. My group of friends were happy with the food. Especially the Asian ribs -yumm! We had great service and enjoyed ourselves but unless the drinks get better we will find somewhere else to spend our money. Sincerely, Orlando Yelp Fan

We went to Houlihans for a late dinner on a recent Friday night. Our server was good and the food was standard Houlihan's (i.e., predictably good, not great). Unfortunately the bartender and manager undermined the whole experience... We ordered 2 gin & tonics and a vodka/diet coke. The waitress got the order wrong and delivered vodka/club soda instead of vodka/diet. The gin and tonics were flat. All 3 drinks were sent back. Because of the flat tonic water, we asked for slightly dirty martinis in place of the gin/tonics. The waitress then delivered a vodka/diet with flat soda and two martinis. The martinis were delivered in 4 mini martini glasses because they had run out of regular martini glasses, which was just sort of awkward. The person who delivered the martinis announced them as "very dirty martinis", which caused us to initially refuse them, saying we had ordered ours slightly dirty. She then changed her tune and said these were our martinis. The martinis were opaque and tasted like olive juice. We sent them back and asked for martinis with no olive juice. The manager, Felix, then showed up at our table. We thought he was coming to apologize, but he ended up basically blaming us for "costing him a lot of money" - no apology for the mistakes, no explanation of what was going on behind the bar. It's not that hard to make a decent martini, it's not too much to expect that orders be filled accurately and it's not too much trouble to make sure the soda machine isn't flat. We won't be back.

Salty salty Salty...its almost as if the chefs there have burned their taste buds right off their tongues! Other than everything being REALLY salty its ok.. lunch portions are generally small well actually they are the size of a kids meal at any other restraunt. its very nice inside just the food really needs to step up a couple notches!

I went here for a Meetup group dinner and enjoyed the food very much. It's an upscale bar place with some very unique menu items. The manager offered us free appetizers so that was nice. Try the goat cheese artichoke poppers or the fried asparagus - yummy! The spinach dip was very good as well. The service was so-so, as I think we had 2 or 3 different people waiting on us, but they didn't screw up our bill, they were friendly, etc. My drink was very weak so I didn't order a second one, but they had beer 2-for-1 during happy hour, which kept most happy. We went on a Friday night and they had some live music guys in there that didn't sound too bad. Overall I would return again and try other entrees. I believe the general consensus of a group of approx. 18 was very positive.

Our server was courteous and patient. Price to proportion ratio was good...on certain items. but i feel it was a bit overpriced. Excellent appetizers though. We went near closing time, but they didn't rush us. Had the enchilada's which were delicious. Atmosphere was quiet, but music was a bit loud. Can't rate this place higher because i have to have a good reason to come back. maybe if they had lunch specials? but overall not bad experience.

My husband wanted to try Houlihan's for their sunday brunch (he LOVES breakfast food). So we ventured to Houlihan's for the first time this past Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised to find many vegetarian options that could easily be modified for Vegans on the menu! While my husband and daughter ate from the breakfast buffet, I ordered the roasted veggie flatbread sans the goat cheese and the fried asparagus. The flatbread was a relatively small serving but tasty non the less, and the asparagus was delicious as well. My husband and daughter were satisfied with the breakfast buffet as well. They had an omelet station and a variety of breakfast and lunch food available at the buffet. I give the restaurant MAJOR props for having delightful vegetarian/vegan options!

This is the best chain restaurant that 90% of Orlando doesn't seem to realize actually exists. Service, for some unknown reason, is usually snobby and kind of aloof. The waiters they hire are the hipster guys I spend most of my life trying to ignore, but it's acceptable because the food is great. The Chicken Parmesan is amazing because it has three types of cheese. Not just mozzarella, but so much more. Three! You like cheese, don't you? You don't? Get out of my review! They have a stellar drink menu, the standout for me being the Key Lime Martini. It was love at first sip because if this world needs anything else, it's less Fro-Yo and more alcoholic beverages that double as dessert. It has little pieces of graham cracker around the rim of the glass, the telltale sign of class and sophistication. It's very dark inside when the sun goes down, so if you show up for a blind date and discover he looks nothing like he did on OKCupid, the lack of light will fix that for you. Another great thing about this location is that it's right next door to Total Wine and Spirits, so you can walk off the 5,000 calories you just consumed by stocking up on a month's worth of tequila and $4 Merlot. I keep telling people to visit this restaurant because if they don't, I will no longer have access to key lime martinis or 3-cheese chicken parmesan. I cannot bear the thought of this. People shrivel up their noses when I tell them the prices, even though these same people spend more at Red Lobster. I think above all else this indicates that I need new friends, but it also indicates it may be a little pricey. It's $13.95 for my chicken parmesan, so you decide. Houlihan's is awesome. Please go. Please?

Houlihan's has a great establishment on University and Alafaya near UCF that is consistently great with service and food. The same could not be said about the location on Colonial drive for the year of 2008. So much so I avoided the establishment the whole year of 09. The good thing is someone there made a decision to change and it was obvious when I had lunch there this week. Instead of describing all of the previous negative experiences I will state how impress I am with the turnaround. They seated our group of 6 immediately during the lunch hour and our waitress was courteous and prompt when taking our food orders. The food was served within a reasonable amount of time and everything was correct. It was a very good experience and a world of a difference compared to the 08 year. I only gave it three stars for now because I have not had the chance to try out the dinner service.

It's a great spot to grab a little bite or sit in the bar area to just catch up with a friend. The food is pretty standard here, but the cool part is that if you check-in on Foursquare you get a free order of Frites!! So be sure to hit that up!! Their wait staff is very friendly and welcoming - not really pressuring or upselling you to the point of annoyance. Always a pleasurable experience at this location!

This is the poster child for everything that is wrong with Orlando. There is no chance of anything on this menu ever being good. It is tried and true characterless, colorless, common, conventional, dull, middling, fairish, humdrum, indifferent, inferior, insignificant, intermediate, mainstream and boring. Now get this, everything on their menu, and if you don't believe this download a menu not in Orlando, is marked up several dollars because you are in Orlando. Translation, if you eat there, you are stupid. So even though the average salary of the Orlando worker is dirt poor the company assumes because you are within 30 miles of disney world that the people will expect to pay more. I beg of someone who gives me an honest explanation as to how this place stays in business. Nevermind, I know, a transient population who picked the only city in Flirda without a beach. Say no more. If you go here you probably think Kraft Macaroni and cheese is gourmet.

So so restaurant. Poor location. Service mediocre. Food nothing to write home about. Don't go out of your way to get there. OK if your not too choosey. Here and there you will find a menu item that is acceptable.

Went here last night after a few drink's with my girlfriend and another couple. It was around 10:30 and they stopped serving food at 11pm so we wanted to be quick. Service was a bit slow and it seemed to us that there were only three other tables taken up in the whole restaurant. We ordered and it took around 30 minutes to bring out a flatbread pizza app and three sandwiches. The food was good and the portion was enough for all of us. However, it took a while to get the bill and the to-go containers after he cleared the tables of the other plates and we said we were ready. All in all it seemed that the service staff was doing as much closing work as they could while attending to us very minimally.

I'll start of by saying that my family and I are currently sitting in this restaurant. We arrived exactly an hour ago and were promptly seated. Our waitress took our drink orders, brought our drinks, then took our food orders and that is the last we saw of anyone for 35-40 minutes. By then, there were drinks that needed refilling and we were becoming restless as that is a long wait for a fairly simple order (two soups, quesadillas and a flatbread). At the 40 minute mark we finally got our food. The food was simply put on the table and the food runner left, no refills or question of how things were so far. Although the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't good either. The French onion soup was cold and way too salty and the BBQ chicken flatbread was bland and I did not taste any BBQ. 15 minutes later (55 minutes in), when we were ready for our check, we finally saw out waitress again. She was kind enough to take the soup off the check however, it was not a pleasant experience and its safe to say that we won't be returning to this place.

Went to Houlihan's for a doterati meetup. Listen, the place is a chain, but I must admit that the food is always decent. We just had appetizers tonight, but I have to say that I've never been disappointed. Like I said, it's a chain, but it does consistently serve decent food at a reasonable price.

Amazing food, excellent prices, romantic atmosphere, serves food late night. Had dinner at 10:30pm last night with wonderful service. Plenty of white hair on the other patrons--really relaxed atmosphere because there were no wild college kids. I'll be back!

Everything on the menu here is amazing. The chicken nachos are probably the best nachos I've ever had ANYWHERE. I'd do terrible things to innocent people for those nachos. I'm usually not a big rib guy either, but Houlihans' ribs are worth writing home about. Great restaurant, quiet-dark atmosphere, and very very rich and flavorful food. The pricing is very reasonable and the location is good. Only knock on this personal favorite is their dessert selection. It's average at best.

My wife and I ended up eating at Houlihan's by chance - you know you're out shopping and you pass by and say, "How about that place?" "Sure, OK." Usually when this happens it's a 50-50 chance that it will be really good. Although not amazing, Houlihan's was a pleasant surprise. It is best to describe as a Bennigan's with less quirky flair and more of a serious tone. Like Bennigan's it has the Irish pub theme. Prices are what you expect, but the menu provides more gourmet options that you won't find at Bennigan's. To sum it up, a fancy Bennigan's with reasonable prices and good food. Not bad, I give it a thumbs up.

I gave them 3 stars since I go to this location occasionally. Houlihans has great appetizers, but the entrees are hit or miss to me. This time we had a lackluster experience. We tried the breakfast brunch. There were odd foods in warming trays not normally seen for breakfast, like fettuccini alfredo and jambalaya. The yogurt parfaits were sitting out and the granola inside them was soggy. It was a pretty disappointing experience. I will not be going back for the brunch buffet though I do enjoy the occasional trip for appetizers and drinks.

I agree wholeheartedly that its more of a 3.5. We got EXCELLENT service. So maybe we just lucked out or they could tell right away we were just that cool. Yeah, I'm thinking we lucked out. haha. Okay back to Houlihan's , I generally try to avoid chains like the plague, but desperate times call for desperate measures and a few of our favorites weren't open so we decided on here. Sat outside, that was wonderful, the evening was perfect and the drinks all looked good. I'm on antibiotics so all I could do was drool. The food was good, nothing that I can't live without, but I would recommend it to friends if they want just a casual food experience.

Houlihan's atmosphere is very nice and you are greeted and seated immediately. Service has always been pretty good but I just wish the food were better or that they had healthier choices other than salads. Met a friend there on a Wednesday when they have their special deals. On this night the special deal was $3 chicken avocado eggrolls, $5 lettuce wraps and $7 fish tacos or wraps. We both ordered the chicken avocado eggrolls which was a nice sized roll (fried) with spicy chicken inside but I never tasted any avocado. My lettuce wrap was way too salty and sugary. It almost tasted like a dessert instead of what should have been a healthy option. My friend's fish tacos were made with tilapia which looked like it had been fried but the presentation was very nice and it included chips and salsa. On previous visits I had tried the meatloaf which was surprisingly good and the barbequed salmon salad. The salmon definitely was not fresh but frozen but it was acceptable as I usually can take salmon any way they make it. My son likes their burgers which are quite good and a good deal as they are large and tasty. Houlihan's offers happy hour all day which is nice so that you don't have to rush to get there early and after shopping the malls in that vicinity it is nice to know that You can get happy at any hour.

Beware of using a credit card here. My number was stolen as was my parents a year or so later, both were traced back to dining at the Houlihan's on 50. If you go, make sure you pay cash!

Food's always been good (I have a few favorites, the chicken and carmelized onion quesadillas and those stuffed mushrooms) but the past three times I've been there I noticed we were seated by a host or hostess, and the server seemed to eventually just 'find' us, seeming unaware they had a new table. Seems like a flawed system or something. It wouldn't keep me from going back but it is something that might need to be addressed. I'm more of a Toojay's fan if I'm in Colonial Plaza area, but it depends on mood and hour.

This has to be one of the better chain restaurants in Orlando. I always order the Southwest Chicken Wrap, and I've never been dissapointed. I've shown the light to a few co-workers, and now most of us get the wrap. The interior is big and spacious, and there are many booths to choose from. The overhead music is very 80's, but the *art* on the walls is all vintage French advertisements.

  • Jeff O.

Yeah, it's a chain but it's much better than TGI Fridays or Chili's. If you wanna huge menu to choose from, and a slightly sophisticated ambience try Houlihans. I've tried about 5 different things on their menu, and everything is tasty and filling. Their Tillamook Cheddar Burger is f_cking beautiful. The Brentwood Chicken Sandwich is mouthwatering as well. I got a NY Strip steak there once and it was quite good. The bar area is pretty hip, and the servers are all cool for the most part. We ran this girl Sarah through her paces in the bar one night. She was climbing on chairs and everything for us, as we quaffed and sipped our jack and cokes at the bar. The prices are a bit higher than your average chain, but the food and atmosphere make it worth it.

The atmosphere is really cool and comfortable. If you are looking for something healthy I would not recommend coming here. Thinking I was ordering something relatively healthy, I ordered the chicken breast with mashed potatoes. I must not have read the fine print that it was actually breaded, fried and stuff with cream cheese. The taste was great but I thought I was going to roll over and die after eating it. The menu was kind of random and was not overly impressed with it
