Lady, can you stop being so pushy....?! This place was recommended by my co-worker. According to her, chicken here was amazing. With such raving word of mouth..I decided to check it out. Cafteria/Buffet style, you can see the food out there. Not priced completely. What if I just want the meat..how much would that be? Or the rice? I didn't see any price for that. Only thing was priced was the combo deal. So all right, this lady asked me what I wanted. I pointed to one of the chicken and asked her what that was, instead she put the chicken in my box (to-go). It seemed that she was just trying to rush me and there wasn't even anyone behind me. "You want this? It's good" She'd start putting side dishes in my box before I say something. Hmm, are you paying for my food? If so, put whatever in my box, I love free food. So eventually I got the chicken in the orange stew, it was good, but I wouldn't call it amazing. I thought it was a little meat, too much rice. The sweet plaintains were amazing though, now that's something to rave about.

My husband and I visited Havana Bistro last night. The food was plentiful and very inexpensive. The restaurant was clean and the servers were very helpful. I thought the food was just okay, nothing great, and it didn't have enough flavor for me. I had the chicken with yucca, Cuban rice and plantains. I had to stop the server from putting too much rice on the plate, ate my fill, and took over half of the meal home. My husband, with two hollow legs, couldn't finish his meal either. We both decided to try the desserts, and they were excellent. Overall, lots of food but you need to add your own flavoring if you don't live in the "bland land."

I had attended an event for the Hispanic AIDS coalition that was catered by Havana Bistro. Their catered food was soooo delicious (ham croquettes, mini Cuban sandwiches, bocaditos, and assorted pastries) that we asked the owner and her daughter who were helping to serve where they were located. They immediately gave us a brochure and struck up a super friendly conversation with my husband and I. We learned the life story of the restaurant, and loved just how nice the owners were. at the end of the event I helped my friend (the organizer clean up), and my husband ended up helping the owners carry their equipment to their car. They vowed to give us a discount if we went to their restaurant since we were so friendly, and being fellow Cubans they hooked us up with a try of leftovers from the event...lol Anyway, we decided to pass by the restaurant yesterday as part of an expedition to the Florida Mall. We honestly didn't think the owners would remember us, and weren't expecting a discount. But when we arrived the daughter was there that day and remembered us, and said our entree was on them. It was around 11AM, and I really just wanted some Cuban style Breakfast...which is usually fried eggs, Cuban toast, ham, and cafe con leche (aka a latte). However, I was disappointed to learn that their business license doesn't allow them to serve fried eggs, just scrambled. No problems. So I switched my ideal to a ham, cheese, and scrambled egg sandwich on Cuban Bread. It was super good, and really big. And I love that they pressed the sandwich and let the cheese get gooey :) My husband ordered the Pan con Bistec (aka steak sandwich) with thin steak slices, lettuce tomato, sauteed onions, shoe string potatoes, and mayo and ketchup all pressed together on Cuban bread. My husband really enjoyed his sandwich, although likened the steak on it to the type of steak you'd find on a Philly Cheese. It was good, but different from you'd normally find at most Cuban places where the sandwich is served with a large piece of Sirloin steak. We also ordered some ham croquettes to share, which were definitely homemade and and creamy on the inside...yum. Since we felt so bad that they gave us the free food (again totally not expected) my hubs and I ordered two pastries while the owner was occupied (an eclair and strawberry cake slice) and left a 5$ tip for the other employees in the tip jar. Overall, it is not the BEST Cuban I've had, but it is good. And as my husband mentioned there are not many Cuban restaurants in this area actually owned by real Cubans! It is well priced and tasty for lunch, and the catered food items were awesome. Give this place a shot next time you're in the area!

You can not get this good of a meal for the price, anywhere! The Moro, the Yuca, the Maduros, Pernil and Carne Guisado were all excellent. Turn the counter corner and there are some spectacular pastries! Not on this side of town too often, but was more than happy to have tried it out.

Love this place, while visiting the area, we had to stop in again after the desserts blew us away upon our first visit. Honestly, these desserts could sell for 4-5x what Havana sells them for if they were in San Francisco or Seattle, they really are on par with great bakeries. Fantastic flavors, amazing texture, yet light and airy. We tried several guava pastries and a layered mouse/cake ($1-2) and they were all amazing. We didn't love the Cuban sandwich ($4.75) or the Midnight sandwich ($4.75), they were really greasy and didn't have a good mix seasonings/sauces. So we decided to give the Roast Pork sandwich ($4) a try. Holysweetdelicious mouth-gasim batman that pork is good!!! You can top the sandwich with whatever you want, from butter and mayo (the waitress' suggestion !! ), to onions and lettuce. We went with the latter, and really, that roasted pork doesn't need much accompaniment. We ate our sandwich at the airport/on the plane and got many a jealous glance, yes, it smells incredible. Really great casual, family-owned, dine-in cuban spot, a lot of quality food for a steal of a price, check it out!

This was a nice change of pace after paying $20 per person for every meal in Universal Studios two days in a row. This place has great food, with really inexpensive prices. We tried the Cuban Sandwich, the Tripleta Sandwich, the roasted pork with cuban style rice. We fed 4 people for $30, and the owner gave us complimentary Cuban coffees to go once we were finished. She was so grateful that we chose her restaurant to go to when we were craving something cheap and cheerful.

Just finished my meal and it was amazing..I'm new to Cuban food, but I'm not sure it gets any better. Place clean and friendly

This place was AWESOME. We fed three adults a fantastic (and filling) lunch for right about $20 and the food was so delicious and authentic. You HAVE to try this place while in Orlando

After landing in Orlando I wanted to grab something that was not at a chain and found Havana Bistro Cafe on the way to the hotel. Nice atmosphere and very friendly ladies which added to the experience. I went with Ropa Vieja, cuban rice covered in black beans, and fired plantains. And I chose well. The meat was simmered in something for hours and was delicious. It was near closing and the food could have been hotter, but I looked the other way as I ate it all. The plantains were excellent: tender, crunchy on the outside, and even had a few carmelized crunchy nuggets that truly made the meal. If there were more entree options I would have given 5 stars but there were only 4 during my visit.

While on vacation this summer in Orlando, I had a craving for a true Cuban Sandwich!! Havana Bistro and Cafe was just what I needed!! Nice full menu with plenty of sides to accompany any entree you choose. YUMM YUMM

I have made a few early morning visits to this little place and have to say the "pastelitos" (Cuban pastries) are the best I've had outside of Miami! I grew up in Miami eating Cuban food. I know authentic when I taste it and this is authentic. I can't wait to try a Cuban Sandwich.

    (4)
  • Angie S.

I had gone to this place for a Cuban sandwich. There was nothing special about this place. The sandwich was just ok. As for their hot dishes, again nothing special I rather go to Pollo Tropical.

  • Mary Jo P.

Very, very good Cuban food! Pastries are fresh and wonderful. Price is very reasonable. The service is prompt, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it's scary in that part of town even during the day.... but we survived and must recommend it. Does that help at all yelpers?

    (4)
  • Dan H.

Excellent cuban restaurant tucked away in a strip mall that is definitely worth visiting. The food was hot, fresh, and the pastries were surprisingly good. They make all of their pastries in house and I was very impressed with the quality and variety. I had the guava roll and it was fantastic. Prices are very reasonable and you will definitely leave full. Great little place.

  • Derek M.

My wife and I had the Cuban sandwich and black beans and rice. Excellent food and price. Particularly impressed with the bread...pressed of course, but seemed thinner and softer than the norm. I give them four stars because the booth table rocked annoyingly until I was able to fix it against the wall, the Spanish music channel had lots of static (they finally shut it off), and #1 reason...no limes for the Corona...WHY? would you even carry Corona if you don't have limes is still one of my greatest mysteries.

Came for dinner when we landed in Orlando on Easter Sunday. The place was not busy at all so we were seated and or order was taken immediately. We had 6 in our party so we tried several items and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. Tried the Sangria but it was just okay. I myself ordered the Ropa Vieja and loved it; servings are big I had enough food for leftovers. I would definitely go back to this restaurant the next time I'm in Orlando.

  • Jamie D.

Gotta have the roasted pork. Great little Cuban place for lunch. With lots of sweets to boot.

Delicious, good sized portions for a very good price!!! We will definitely be back!!!

This place is cozy. Liked the interior design. And it had a flatscreen tv with NFL network on! I tried the tripleta sandwich...liked how it was made....but it was missing some flavor. If only they had BBQ sauce! I also tried the desserts...cookies and the guava and cheese pastry; also pretty good. Definitely a lunch spot. I like the iced tea selection ...but the green tea tasted soapy. Overall...pretty good...I'd probably come back to try the Cuban sandwich.

We visited as a result of Yelp reviews and were so pleased. We had ropa vieja, congris, Cuban sandwich, yucca with mojo, maduros, and guava pastries, beef empanadas, croqueta, and all were excellent, exactly how my family would make them and just like home (except I put olives and vinegar in my ropa vieja; theirs was much more tender than mine though). The sandwich could have been pressed with less/no oil and could have used pickles (I've never had a Cuban sandwich without pickles??). Including drinks, I spent less than $25, including leftovers and the extra congris and maduros I ordered to take out. I did automatically get a fountain drink with my sandwich but I would have preferred water or an iron beer (something we don't have the luxury of in VA), but I didn't get that option. I assumed I had a meal and had asked for maduros instead of fries but never got them. I didn't complain though because we had so much food and it was very little cost. There were dozens and dozens of pastries and desserts that looked phenomenal. Clearly a pastry chef in the house. Highly recommend for a good, simple, quick and easy Cuban meal!

  • Melissa R.

Wow - my first foray into Cuban food and I was not disappointed. Portions were HUGE! For $10 I got succulent pork, cuban rice, yucca, and sweet plaintains, plus quatro leches for dessert (as in tres leches plus uno leches). Unbelievably delicious and amazingly friendly service.

Havana Bistro is an excellent oasis of great Cuban food in the morass of commercialized chain restaurants that dominate in the Orlando area. First, this place is spotless. A nice, lively decorated spot at the corner end of a strip mall on Sand Lake Drive near the Florida Mall. A lovely, friendly Cuban family from Pinar Del Rio, happy to stop and chat while serving delicious, fresh , and inexpensive Cuban staples like Roast Pork, Ropa Vieja, Roasted Chicken and others along with the standard Moro, yellow rice, white rice, black beans, Yuca, and dried Plantains. The Roast Pork was moist and tender, and the Roasted Chicken had a perfect blend of spices , with succulent meat falling off the bone. A Roast Pork sandwich will leave you craving more, and the fresh, crunchy Cuban bread it came on!! And that leads me to the baker. A family operation with the husband a professional baker results in a huge glass display case containing fresh, decadent and delicious Cuban pastries. The bread pudding is to die for. The Guava and cheese pastries are light, flaky and delicious. Start off with Empenadas and Ham Croquetes, you won't be disappointed. Dinner for under $20.00 in the land of the Mouse makes this hidden gem a must for Cubans and all lovers of great food!

Food was good and quick service. The desserts were delicious with a large variety to choose from. I have not found another place with such authentic Cuban flavor in town.

Food was solid. To me the food seemed a little bit Mexican than Cuban. Plantains were good.

  • Steve C.

My wife and I happened into Havana Bistro before going to the mall the other day. The service was friendly, the food was *great* (and my family is Cuban, so I'd like to think I'm a bit of an expert on the cuisine!), and the prices were very reasonable. They have a great "combo meal" you can get that has plenty of food (a meat, a rice, and two sides with a drink). There also look to be tons of sandwiches that I'd like to try next time I go. We'll definitely be going back, especially if we're headed to the mall for holiday shopping.

We happened up Havana Bistro and Cafe while looking for a different cafe. Good thing we never found the other cafe. The experience we had at the Bistro was one of our highlights during our trip to Orlando. The food was great and the price was equally as good. The place was spotless and the service was second to none. We made four trips to the Bistro during our five day visit. The homemade cooking and desserts were awesome. I don't want to forget the Cuban coffee, the best I've ever had. If you're in Orlando I highly recommend Havana Bistro and Cafe.

I was recently in Orlando for business and was craving authentic Cuban food and tried a couple of places. One was fancy and all but their service stunk and the food was alright. Havana Bistro Cafe was off the hook from the food to the warm reception from the girls working there including the main Madrina. I love it so much I went back the next day. I will definetely be eating there while in Orlando. Muchas Gracias!

This is why you rent a car when you visit Orlando. The restaurant is lovely and the staff is great. The pretty young woman that helped me even let me have half beef and half roast pork because I couldn't make up my mind after she let me taste each. The food was so tasty, and the bill was less than ten dollars with a Cuban beer. The pastries looked enticing, but I was too full to try them for dessert.

I was attended by a young gentleman named Dariel who was very attentive and helpful. I got a passion fruit drink which was fresh and delicious. And four cannolis for my friends and one for me. I will definitely be coming back to dine in and take outr and also try out the breakfast items as well. Very nice vibe from the staff and atmosphere is nice as well. Can't wait to come back.

Got there late last night. The cafe part with "hot plate" selection was closed(it was about 8:20pm). We went on and sat in the sit down restaurant part of the establishment. Service was immediate, as the waiter was the same guy that greeted us at the door. We immediately ordered from the menu. Waited about 10-15minutes for bread. Dinner came out about 15 minutes more. Portion size was just ok considering the dinner prices were substantially higher than the other side of the restaurant. You get your meat entree with two sides . We paid $10-$13 for each meal and $3 extra for sweet plantains ( maduros). Chicken milanesa was just ok. The sauce was sweet and more like ketchup. The cheese was cooked too long so it was kind of melted into the meat. Grilled chicken had a better flavor, though smaller piece of meat ($10). The portions for the sides were kind of small. We were the only customers on sit down service side. Waiter never checked on us until he came to clean table and offer dessert. Pastries were old and 50 cents higher than regular price( not worth $2 each). I will stick to the other side for my BIG plate of food for about $6. Cute place though. Tasty food in general. Quiet.

I am a big fan of Cuban food. Resturant with local presence, clean, good food and friendly. Thanks to yelp, I was guided to this stop. I had the Midnight sandwich-- bolo ham & pork w/mustard, pickles on sweet bread. Also had a chance to taste the shredded beef with onions. Not to add the sweet plantain. Both dishes were excellent. Interesting enough it is two restaurants in one.....on one side a limited menu cafeteria style where you create your plate and the other side you is sit down full menu. Service was great!

  • Erin M.

All I wanted was a cubano, and I found a great one here. I loved it! I say forget the fries (nothing special, and likely frozen) but the sandwich was divine. The dessert selection was primo. I got the Dulce De leche, it was super good as well.

  • Mark C.

Still a great place for lunch. Hefty portions and fresh real food. The roasted pork is really tasty and the yucca is creamy and delicious. Ran in to a couple hard grains of rice that didn't "mesh&mash " as the rest were doin. Worthy of splitting the portion and having again tomorrow!

This little gem is tucked away nesr the florida mall. You will miss it if you are not careful. Service was subpar because I dont speak spanish. I was completely ignored by the staff until the american girl who spoke clear english saw me standing there. The food was good and reasonably priced. I ordered black beans and got red beans :( The menu is well versed and the sandwhiches are prepared fresh and made to order. Amazing cuban coffee though.

  • Rhea P.

Definitely homemade. This casual Cuban spot serves up great cafe con leche and offers very unique looking pastries. I'm not sure what all the pastries were, but they looked amazing. Breakfast and lunch items available. Makes me feel as if I am in someone's house. Would definitely return for more.

Prior to coming to florida, I saw the reviews for this place and couldn't wait to try it. Stopped by on our way out of florida. The greeting was friendly. We decided to sit on the sit down portion of the restaurant. Our server was ok, not very friendly. I ordered some maracuya juice-SO GOOD and fresh. As well as an empanada. The empanada was ok, kind of dry. My boyfriend ordered a cuban sandwich and I ordered ropa vieja, black beans and rice with tostones. The ropa vieja was excellent. I am panamanian so I'm used to a different style but this was still pretty good. The black beans and rice were disappointingly dry and bland. So were the tostones (or patacones). My boyfriend said the same thing about his cuban sandwich. Dry. the food was dry and mostly bland. The waiter was also rude. I asked for a refill and he made me feel uncomfortable acting like it was a strange request....he was also very inattentive, kept watching the soccer game on the tv... since we were tired of dealing with him we decided to take our dessert orders to go. Again rude service, one of the ladies acted like she was bothered by us..not sure why. We ordered cuatro leches as well as a mil hojas con caramello. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Truly so good. 4 stars for the desserts, maracuya juice and ropa vieja. 2 stars for the rest of the dry bland food, 1 star for the rude service.

Where still Owner Cuban lady enjoys making coffee for you!. Let me tell you that I know she started from nothing to make this cute Cafe/Bistro "A True inspirational achiever of many American Dreams provided by this Great Nation! Daytime: The Cafe (order over the counter) Cuban espresso, tres leches, crema catalana (kind of creme brulee), cuban sandwich are amazing delicious and low cost. Brunch: still The Cafe hours. I can eat 5 desserts instead of food with no regrets! Hell with the calories! I Love Sugar! Nightime: The Bistro (table service) Seafood paella, shrimp al ajillo, Ropa Vieja, wine, are still decent priced! OMG!!! You need to try yourself...Yummely EXQUISITE DELICIOUS!!!, Havana Bistro is located infront of the Main entrance of Florida Mall (Sandlake Rd), next to Olive Garden and short distance from the Airport. There is plenty of Parking.

Awesome staff. Awesome food. Awesome. Yelp is making me say more things 'cause they think my review is too short but really what more can I say? I think you all have the idea.

The food is great and the prices are very reasonable especially if you have a big family. This is family owned and the owner is such a nice woman. When I visit Orlando definitely will visit again. The food is 10 out of 10. The desert is more like a 7 out of 10. GPS address is not quite correct. However is behind the Olive Garden in the same complex.

Havana...Thank u so much for the 4 leches cake. OMG!!! i ate it right there. I was so selfish not to even share it. Keep it coming. Ok the food. I must commend u on ur service and explaining the cuisine to me. I enjoyed everything on my plate especially the fish from the walk in area menu. We chose not to sit in the restaurant area with the waiter/waitress. The chicken was perfectly seasoned along with my yellow rice, beans, plantains, and the drink was written on the chalk board with orange juice and condensed milk...deliciious. This bistro was the highlight of our eating experiences while in Orlando considering the mechanical issues that was encountered with our vehicle.

Blanca was my welcome host. Very polite and attentive. Order consisted of the lunch buffet. Shredded beef, black beans and rice, and platains for an awesome price of $6.50! Portions were generous. Their desserts are made in house and very delicious. Mom ordered a midnight sandwich and it was Bomb Diggity. Washed everything down with a hot cafe con leche. Gave 3 stars because some portions of the buffet meal were not as hot fresh as I prefer, but edible regardless. Facility is clean and the waitresses are courteous.

  • Sounder A.

Very nice Cuban café. I'm not a Cuban food expert but the Cuban sandwich was excellent. I got an empanada on the side, slightly dry but the inside was hot and delicious. They also have a hot line for lunch and you can pretty much pick any side even with the sandwiches. Hot line has pulled pork, chicken and a few other things for a super quick lunch. My sandwiches took a little while but the quality was worth it. Also a large case of pastries and desserts. Everything is super fresh and looks tasty.

OMG - this place was SOOO good. I had a plate of old clothes beef, yucca, plantains and Cuban rice. Didn't come up for air the entire time. Topped it off with some Cuban coffee and I was set. What a gem!

I'm from Los Angeles, where most of the Latinos I know are Mexican, so I don't get much opportunity to try great Cuban food. During my stay in Orlando, I had told myself I would try an authentic Cuban sandwich at least once, and I gotta say, this place did not disappoint! Okay, so I don't have much to compare it to... but I'm grateful that the sandwich ended up in my belly. I would've given it 5 stars, except that I don't want to react with too much excitement since I'm not a local, and I want to save that 5th star for when I actually try the best Cuban sandwich in Florida =P

Cute family-owned cuban restaurant. We had some time to kill before our flight out of Orlando airport, and we were craving a delicious Cuban sandwich (after getting off a cruise ship and enduring five days of mediocre food). After reading the Yelp reviews we headed over. . . And it did not disappoint! I had a cuban sandwich with a side of maduros (soft sweet plantains). The sandwich was crisp and lightly buttery on the outside, and warm and melty inside. The roast pork in the sandwich was fall-apart tender. Also had a glass of red wine - for the very reasonably price of $5.50! I brought back a box of pastry to the family, who didn't feel like getting in the car to go get Cuban sandwiches . . . After tasting the pastry, I bet they had serious regret over not joining us! I chatted for a bit with one of the owners, who clearly loves what she does and takes pride in her family's restaurant. Good for them - they're doing a great job.

Food was delicious! It was very authentic. Every thing we got was great!! $7.25 for a plate of rice, choice of meat and two sides. Empanadas were only $1.60. Service was also wonderful! :)

Outstanding. Found this place just a few minutes from our Orlando airport hotel. We opted to have dinner in the newly expanded dining area. The server said that after years of a booming counter service business, they had just added a new section to the restaurant that offered a more complete dining experience with real plates, silverware, cloth napkins and an attentive, bi-lingual server. While in Florida we have been taking advantage of the great seafood available, so we ignored the many Yelp raves about the pork dishes and enjoyed the shrimp in red sauce, aka "camarones a la criolla" and chicken and shrimp fajita, aka "fajita de pollo con camarones." Both were tasty, but the side dishes really stepped up the experience. Each meal came with a selection of two side dishes. We loved the fried plantains and beans and rice with one entree and grilled plantains and corn with another entree. There are many other side options available. Totally full and contented, we did sample a quesito, a wonderful cinnamon sugar pastry with a sweet cream cheese filling. It was a great way to have a sweet bite at the end of our meal. Prices were quite reasonable for the excellent quality and portions received. We hope to return on our next trip to Orlando. Definitely check this restaurant out.

Not happy!! I really wanted a Cuban today. The Cuban tasted microwaved. Some parts of the pork where really cold and other where hot. That normally happens when you microwave the meat. Nothing special on the fries just your frozen variety from the supermarket. Over all, I was disappointed.

Terrible service. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and waited over 20 minutes just to find out they gave my sandwich to someone else and took it back. That's disgusting. Demanded a refund. Too many servers serving one person and confusion occurs. Not happy. Hope they fix theirselves

  • Benjamin M.

$6.26 for a full cuban meal, sandwhiches and such are cheap as well. Iced coffee was amazing. My whole meal was under $10. I ordered the pork with cuban rice and plantians. Pork had so much flavor, it was delicious. Plantians were the best ive ever had. I honestly wasnt even that hungry and I polished off my plate. Im currently stuffed. I tried my brothers chicken also amazing. Different taste of seasoning then pork but equally as good. My brother fed him, and his 2 daughter for under $20. Definietly try this place!!

Authentic, flavorful Cuban cuisine. In fact the dishes are prepared by a longtime chef of Cuban descent. The staff was extremely courteous and the seafood and meat dishes were first rate. Prices are family friendly, dining in for dinner is more affordable than other breakfast joints around Orlando. Highly recommended, will visit again if I get the chance. All round superb experience. Great job folks :)

Really good Cuban fast food and inexpensive. It is always a good sign to walk into a Cuban restaurant and it is filled with Cubans on both sides of the counter A steam table of traditional Cuban comfort food is the center piece of the menu. They also have a nice selection of sandwiches and a large pastry case. Everything we had was the authentic Cuban flavor profile. Worth going here.

I'm from San Antonio After seeing people coming in and out when walking to the mall across the street Wanted to try this place...Looked it up had great reviews..it's Cuban food really good for under $10

Our Server was courteous, the bartender was obnoxious as she laughed at my expense when I sent my food back for having no flavor. I ordered the paella & an appetizer which had zero wow factor, as it was a plate of plain ham & cheese. We ended up being seated and served opposed to the "buffet." We were visiting from Chicago and wanted to try a Cuban place before we left. Even had to cancel my own birthday pastry. Sad.

We tried the roast pork, congri, yucca with monitor and maduros - very good food; quecitos for dessert with coffee was great !

I went to Havana Cafe on the recommendations of my mother in-law, so when I flew in from New York ,I visited it. The Cuban Sandwich was worth the plane trip but then i was dissapointed with everything else, I order a papa rellena and empanadas they weren't real good.. Latinos know there papa rellanas & empanadas. Their hot food options was good ,their desserts are excellent ... but for all the hype... I expect more!!

I'd visit this place for a cafecito and pastel de queso alone, but the food is awesome here! From the traditional Cuban sandwich to a pernil con arroz y habichuelas, you honestly can't go wrong here. The ambience is low-key but trendy and very classy, much classier than many of the "cafeteria"-style Latin restaurants I frequent. Don't pass this place up. It makes a great end to a shop-till-you-drop-day at Florida Mall!

I just ate like a king for 9 dollars the food the place looks nice inside and the food was great. Next time I plan on trying the desserts. They are on display I just could not fix anymore food in lol.

This place gets it. The pork was moist and tasty. The yellow rice was great not too much saffron like some people that do not make it from scratch have-and it had peas in it, real yellow rice has peas in it. Love this place will be back for sure have to try to the Cuban next

The midnight sandwich was delicious! The service was fantastic. Definitely worth stopping here if you are visiting Orlando- it is close to the airport.

I got the midnight sandwich and the sweet plantains. The sandwich was very hearty with alot of shredded beef and the sweet plantains were nice and soft. My boyfriend got the roasted pork with the black rice and black beans. He really liked it and we both LOVED the cheese quesitos. Definitely coming back! :)

saw on yelp and decided to try it; No regrets! Its in a strip mall a few yards from a free standing Olive Garden which is an easy landmark to find. Looked over the offerings at the counter/serving area which was well stocked with good looking food. Chicken stew for me with yucca and sweet plantains/maduras. Large portions brought to the table hot with no wait time. My honey got the lechon, rice and beans and was delighted. Mango drinks were tasty. Too full to eat dessert but took pastries to-go. The homemade cinnamon "stick" had a little creamy filling in it and was both delicious and priced right. Wish we'd bought more of those. It'd be a good place for some nice coffee and pastry. The folks running the place were very personable and checked with us to make sure we had what we needed and that we were enjoying the meal. Oh yeah - we sure were! And we'll be back.

You guys have to try this place if you are feeling like having some "Latino Cuban Food". It is like a fast food Restaurant but with home cooked Meals!!! They also have a bakery with really good Cuban coffee and you can't beat the prices for the amount of food they give. Definitely Recommend stopping here to eat before going to the Florida Mall, this way you enjoy a great meal at a very inexpensive price so you can spend the savings at the Mall!!!!!!!!

Amazing authentic cuban food! When we go to Orlando, this is my first stop from the airport. This summer we dined here 3 times in 5 days! Their ropa vieja is delicious. Had it with yuca and black beans and rice. My husband had the chicken, it was also extremely good. Washed it down with some yummy passion fruit juice and a guava pastry. Heaven. And their portion sizes are huge! We ate some and had leftovers for later. Don't let the fact that it's in a strip mall scare you. It's not very fancy, but who needs fancy when you have kick ass food? The staff are also very friendly and will explain the food for anyone who isn't familiar. Can't wait to go back to Orlando to have more!

I don't think I've had a better Cuban sandwich in my life. Really fantastic. Really moist and tender ham and sliced pork, perfectly grilled. My wife got something simmular but it was on sweet bread. We opted for the grilled plantains over French fries and they were excellent as well. We will be back.

Good sandwhiches and coffee. I usually go there for breakfast even though they usually have the lunch food ready early in the day. I love my ham, egg and cheese tosted sandwich with coffee. They have what tastes like natural orange juice, but a large is like a medium. They seem to be growing as they will be expanding and serving until later according to the sign. I've never been here in the night time, but is seems like they want to capitalize on the liquour drinking crowd. Not a bad a idea. I will try the "Morris Sonando" (milk with orange juice) next time I go. I'm from New York, so they will have to make a killer morir sonando to impress me. :)

I can't really say much other than it was a quick stop for some take-out food. Wish I had sat in and ate instead because take out always tastes different than dining in. But when you open the door to this local eatery, you'll be drawn in to the aromas from the food. I'm pretty sure if I ate there and got one of their sandwiches, the food would be much better. I should have ordered a sandwich to compare it to Porto's here in So Cal. Havana Bistro also offers similar desserts and pastries, although I think from observation alone, the quality at Porto's seems higher. Sucks I won't get the chance to say for certain because I don't know when the next chance I'll be in the area.

I love Cuban food and today a client introduced me to this gem. I had the ropa vieja. Yellow rice and black beans and fried plantains. Delicious and lots of food. The dessert case was amazing. I didn't get anything but I sure will next time. This reminded me of my Tampa days!!! The staff was very friendly!!

Just went to this place this past weekend....The food is amazing!!!! Unlike the other spanish places I have gone to eat around Orlando, they have a nice big sign of how to order, so a non-spanish person like myself won't be sitting there guessing and trying to figure out how to order.... I ordered the chicken stew with white rice and double side order of plantains with the juice of the chicken stew over my rice! The chicken stew was amazing, the chicken was falling of the bone and so tender and juicy! The sauce that it was in was a perfectly sour and salty but complimented the chicken very nicely. And the sauce over the rice.....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I also had the flan and tres leche cake for desert (shared with friends of course.....although I will say I can be a bit of a little piggy at times hehe oink oink) the desert was pretty good and was very pretty, it was looking at me through the glass window saying "eat me.....eat me!" so naturally I just had to eat them heheh. The reason I give it four stars instead of five is because of the staff...they just don't seem happy to be working there, and almost intimidating. When I go to a place for the first time especially being a person not of that heritage or ethnicity it can be a bit intimidating for myself and a smile here and there won't hurt...but man o man the girls' faces and the way they talk to you is almost rude and non-inviting. Im so happy their food tasted good or else this could have been a bad experience.

This review is for what I thought was a Cuban "pan con bistec" in a relocated south Florida Cuban restaurant. The "steak" was steak ums!!!!! You know those cheap processed thin frozen meat planks???? I wouldn't know where else to find this in a restaurant. Also they don't have tomatoes or authentic Cuban bread. Otherwise, it's clean, staff was friendly and the deserts looked quite professional. Ropa Vieja was decent. But for an authentic Cuban sandwich place it's a joke.

We had a taste for Cuban food on a recent trip to Orlando, and enjoyed our simple, inexpensive, and filling meal at Havana. You order at the counter, cafeteria style. if you want the meat plus two sides, you watch them spoon it into your container and you get the food immediately. They are generous with their portions, and I loved my roasted pork (so tender!), Cuban rice, plantains, and black beans. If you order a sandwich, they'll make it behind the counter and bring it to you when it's ready, along with one side. My hubby tried their Cuban sandwich, and it was really good. I'm not usually a fan of this sandwich, but the bread was wonderful, and the sandwich had plenty of cheese. We ended with the bread pudding for dessert and a Havana coffee. The bread pudding tasted wonderfully of bananas, and it was very moist. What a bargain at $1.50! The coffee was better than other Cuban coffees I've had, since it had just the right amount of sweetness. I cannot forget to mention the service. Everyone who helped us was warm and friendly, and they thanked us for stopping by. This is an unassuming little place that offers great food at a reasonable cost. This is a definite must-try!

Superb place. The shredded beef and the yellow rice are very good. So is the yucca. Very authentic place run by a family of Cuban émigrés. Less than 10 minutes from Sea World and the Orlando convention center

Flew in from Chicago on business for a day and stopped on for lunch. Wow what a find! The food was very good and well seasoned. The only negative is that at 12 noon the food could of been warmer. The service was very good and the place was very clean. The service is cafeteria style and and the pastry section is gorgeous with Lots of variety. The roasted pork in Mojo sauce is to die for almost like eating cotton candy! I will be stopping in whenever I return to Orlando.

YUM! My husband and I got stranded in Orlando for an extra day due to delayed flights and entrusted our lunch selection to Yelp. Congratulations Yelpers on making a great recommendation. Lunch consisted of a buffet style selection from the traditional Cuban meats, rice, and two sides. Serving sizes were hearty. We got the Pork and Ropa Vieja with black rice, plantains, veggies, and black beans. The veggies looked frozen veggies that had been boiled with a bunch of butter. They were very flavorful though for what probably weren't fresh veggies. The rest of the food was TERRIFIC and the meal was very reasonably priced. If you want dessert, they had an extensive selection of enticing options. We would go back again if we were in the area!

Came here for lunch and was very satisfied. They have sandwiches or plates of food that you can put together for a decent price. I want to say my play which came with one main dish and two sides without the drink was about $6.49. And it is a lot of food! They also have their own spicy, hot sauce which is yummmmy!

Really good place to grab a quick lunch. I had a cuban sandwich and it was really good. My husband had the midnight sandwich and it was excellent! I will be ordering that one next time. We also had a chicken empanada, some sort of little roll thing with beef in it, a croquette, a tamale, French fries, a cheese and guava desert, flan, a bread pudding, a mango juice, a cappuccino, a fountain drink and a cortadito? All of it was really good! We have no complaints. Total we spent $44. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Rude service paired with mediocre food? No thanks. I got the roasted pork- half of it was really great, and the other half was dry and inedible beyond belief. Really inconsistent throughout the entire plate. The coffee is good...if you can get them to make it without acting like you're the biggest inconvenience there. Read the name of a pastry straight off the sign on the plate, and the lady still gave us the wrong thing. Save your money for somewhere else - you're not getting any new culture from this place, and at least elsewhere you'll get more consistent food and better service.

I absolutely love Havana =) I always eat here when I'm in the mood for good Cuban food. I have never been disappointed by the beef and potatoes or the pork. Definitely check out their pastries...they are so good. And the price is ridiculously affordable.

Havana offers outstanding food, pastries, and coffee at reasonable prices. I am not Cuban, but I take it as a sign of authenticity that most of the clientele is speaking Spanish. The service is very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Their pastries are amazing. I recommend the meal combos (lots of choices with for total items and drink for less than $8), but the sandwiches look great, too.

Google Maps has the Bistro facing 17/92; it actually faces Sand Lake Road, just before the 17/92 intersection, if you're heading west. The food is delicious and they have a pastry case that will knock off your calcetines. Their Cuban sandwich is my third favorite (Taste of Heaven #1, Latin Bistro in Winter Park #2). In the Cuban sandwich, they use their chucks of roasted pork. God bless Havana Bistro! They have a steam table with several meats and a bunch of sides. You can order a meal with a drink for around $7. The decor had thought put into it and there is plenty of room to move around. They serve beer and wine too. Buen apetito.

4 stars for the fast service 3 stars for food Cafeteria-like with humble atmosphere Fountain drink machine so you can refill your own soft drink. Loud, energetic salsa music plays inside and outside the Cafe. I ordered the Ropa Vieja that comes with rice and two sides. You get a choice of white rice, arroz moros (black rice) or yellow rice. I got the yellow rice and they put a LOT on your plate. Meat portion and sides are very modest. My meat was tasty though a little bland. The yucca was a bit dry and the plantains were oily (though very sweet) and I only got three small ones on my plate. For $6.95 it was a steal. The food is good for the price you pay, but when compared to places like Chipotle or other Cuban restaurants in FL; this one is not a "must visit" Food was not made to order, it gets made in large quantities and then it sits in metal containers for the rest of the day. Kept hot in a hot bar type display. Not vegetarian friendly (but most Cuban restaurants aren't) Service was good though! Girl was friendly. Baked goods are fresh. When I walked in, I notices a tray with a fresh batch of guava pastries! Free parking. Next to mall. Desserts are gourmet, food is not!

For less than $8, you get your protein, rice and 2 sides with a soda. My wife and kids had the shredded beef and I had the chicken. We all loved the proteins we got - they were very flavorful. The sides, especially the fried plantains, were also very tasty. This is going to sound unusual, but when you eat here, you will understand what I mean. They generously salt their food - it's not salty, but you can taste it. But the food is very good. Just like others have said, it's cafeteria style. You get your food immediately, find a seat, get your soda and chow down. When looking for this place, I had a hard time. It's right next to Olive Garden on the back side of the strip mall. It's worth finding.

Our favorite Cuban restaurant was closed, so we saw this restaurant and pulled into the parking lot. We were told my someone going in that they have the best Cuban coffee and when we went to a restaurant rating web site on our phones, people raved about the desserts. The desserts were spectacular to look at. Many were those layered type Napoleon desserts of many different flavors. There were two in our party, and we each ordered a different flavor and also coffee. I ordered the Cafe con Leche (coffee and milk) and my companion ordered espresso. We also ordered two other flavors of desserts to go, as they were really pleasing to the eye. Both coffees were terrible. Mine tasted like dishwater and hers like old coffee grounds. Nothing like real Cuban coffee. We ended up throwing them away. The desserts were sickening sweet with a syrup they were soaked in. The true flavors took a back seat to the syrup taste. They weren't good. We threw away the ones we bought to eat in the restaurant, after several bites too many. We still took home the "to go" flavors, hoping they would be better. They weren't. They weren't that expensive for those types of desserts and I can see why. They are the cheap, generic version of those desserts. We had seen on several web sites that people gave rave reviews to the desserts, but I'm going to say if you have a discerning palate, you will not be impressed with them. Due to this experience, I would not go there for any type of food.

this place is alright, the coffee is better than Star bucks. The food is a little above average and the place is clean. The people are friendly and the pries are low with large portions.

The first time I came here the food was very good, but the last two times it seems like something has changed. When you walk into Havana Bistro they offer the food cafeteria style. You choose a main dish of meat and get to choose which sides you want among rice, beans, yucca, maduros, etc. Additionally, they have sandwiches and other offerings. Recently I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which I've eaten there before, but this time the meat was not very good at all. Also the ropa vieja that I had last time was not hot and in general the quality of the sides has dropped. The food isn't bad, just average. The portions are good and the price is low. We won't be coming back unless we hear that their quality has improved though.

Classic "Hole in the wall" venue. Excellent Cuban sandwich. Fresh & delicious. Great value & free parking, across from the Florida Mall. Plus the lunch buffet looked very good too. It's all about the home-made flavor

After spending 5 days eating "amusement park" food my family and I were ready for some good Cuban food. Read the review on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Good portions, tasty food and great price. We had Congri, pernil, maduros, pollo guisado, yuca, a pernil and Cuban sandwich. Everyone was happy with their meal and would definitely return when in Orlando.

Had the Cuban sandwich. The pork was really dry and tasteless. The sauce was more like mustard and some pickles. Cuban bread wasn't flavorful, oily, and hard. Pricey for what you get. Staff was really nice.

Came here for lunch & loved it! It's a cafe style restaurant that serves various Cuban delicacies. You could a Cuban sandwiche or medianoche, or have one of their entree combos which include 1 meat, 1 rice, & 2 sides of your choice for $8. The pork was especially tender. Great pastries & dessert as well. They also serve wine & beer. The staff was courteous & helpful, while the facilities were clean & classy. Will return there again!
