There are a handful of short order breakfast type places littered around Orange Avenue. You'll be able to spot Carol's by the happy face plate lit up on the sign. Inside, Carol's is cleaner than most, and you'll get a good breakfast for your money, sticking to the eggs and what have you. On the weekends, this place can get crowded, and the service a bit overwhelmed, but if you have patience, well worth the trouble.

Pretty great! The place was full, and only got more busy as we ate. There was a bit of a wait for the food, as well. I got the Country Boy, and my guy got the half biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and 2 bacon. Hash, eggs, and bacon were cooked perfectly. They listened and were able to make over medium eggs and soft, chewy bacon. The gravy was better than most places, being tasty, a perfect consistency, and not super salty. The only thing it was missing was real sausage. There was one big downside, though, and that was the coffee. It was...filmy. We will definitely return, though!

Absolutely love this little diner. Always great service and hot food! I love their egg white omelets here with spinach and bacon. Not like peach valley or other breakfast places where you omelet comes out with 2 pieces of spinach. Here they pack your omelet full of spinach and bacon. Home fries are always piping hot and crispy on the outside. Fruit cups are actually fresh fruit also. Highly recommend Carols!!

5 stars of local Orlando home cookin' Open from 6am- 3pm Monday- Sunday service: great food: comes out fast and taste like your grandma made it! price is on point, this place will not break the bank by any means... warning: SUNDAY MORNINGS ARE JAM PACKED so you may need to wait 15- 20 min.. By far the best salsa in town!

(really 2 1/2 stars) Our first impression when we walked in was how filthy the floor was (food, napkins & who knows what else was all over the place) Our second impression was how bad their coffee is... it's really bad... Our third impression: our server let out a huge yawn while she was taking our order... The servers have a "rode hard and put away wet" look about them... Of course, we were very apprehensive about how our food was going to turn out... Our server delivered the wrong order to our table TWICE, and then tried to blame the kitchen! Well, aside from our negative first impressions, the food is delicious! The guys in the kitchen know exactly what they're doing and they're doing it right! We both ordered the Farmers Omelet that came packed with meats, vegetables & cheese. The three egg omelets were huge & cooked to perfection! I decided to get a pancake rather than toast & it was also huge, fluffy and delicious. Too bad they serve "spread" rather than butter.

Great Lil breakfast and lunch place. Today was my second visit. Affordable and yummy Western omelette. The biscuits are heaven! Our child's plate of pancake in sausage just 3 dollars! My partner got the country fried steak and loved it. Having recently dined at IHOP for breakfast and paid more for much less - I'll be going here for breakfast more often! Waitress was also great.

From out of town. Came here after the airport for some breakfast. The service was pretty decent, the food was not. Two long hairs found in the grilled chicken sandwhich. The food was mediocre, nothing special. Would not recommend

I went here a few months ago the place was packed the food was so so and it kind of had the dirty old and unupdated feel to it

Great place for a country home cooked meal. My mom just loved this place. She ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon and was in love with the biscuits. They are humongous and tasty. She even stole mine for later (it was fantastic but I'm trying to cut carbs). My egg and bacon omelette was not exceptional but it was good nonetheless. I loved the fruit bowl,a good mix of bananas, grapes, strawberries and pineapple. I would highly recommend you give this place a try. It'll be worth it!

Great place for some down home cooking. It's a great cozy place to have a nice big plate of some eggs and potato dishes for a steal of a price. The biscuit and gravy are damn good too.

There is an abundance of family owned diners along South Orange Ave (Shannon's, Caitlin's, Sharon's, Dixie Belle's, etc.), but Carol's definitely stands out among them. It is a classic diner in every positive way, starting with the friendly staff, basic yet perfectly adequate seating, and kitschy decorations. Interestingly, there is no counter seating, and although a server may direct you to a table, you're kind of expected to seat yourself wherever there's a spot. Not a negative, just something to be aware of otherwise you may just linger for a while. More importantly, the food delivers. All the standard items like breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, melts, and burgers are there. I ordered a western omelette which came with ham, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. The omelette was cooked to perfection: evenly cooked with no signs of browning (i hate that!) on the egg. My two sides were grits and toast. The grits were unbuttered, which I prefer since I don't care for much butter. And the wheat toast was very hearty, with lots of grains on the crust. The coffee was very fresh and tasty, and the refills came quickly. If you're looking for good comfort food in a friendly establishment, this place will definitely be a solid choice.

I don't get over to this area of Orange Avenue that often. But I recently had a chance to stop in one morning for breakfast. And this place never disappoints. Carol's Place is nothing fancy. No counter, but plenty of tables to seat yourself. The interior reminds me of a country style, farmhouse kitchen. Decorations and artwork adorn the walls, and various coffee mugs sit on display shelves near the kitchen. And I bet no two coffee mugs are the same. Which makes me to wonder if the plates and silverware match? This place sure looks different from its Bungalow Bill's days! But I'll tell you about that some other time! Breakfast and lunch is available. I have never been here for lunch, but breakfast has people coming in. It is the usual fare, eggs with a side of meat, grits or hash browns, and choice of toast. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes, omelets, and Eggs Benedict are also featured. This last time I had breakfast, I had the corned beef hash covered in cheese and three eggs, cooked over light. The breakfast also came with toast and a side of grits. With coffee, it came to just a little over $8.00. Delicious! Whenever I have been in here, the service is good, the food is good, and the crowd is great for people watching. It is usually an older crowd, many people knowing one another and talking about the business of the day. Over a cup of coffee. And that cup doesn't match any others. But I never hear anyone complain about their meal. Service can get slow from time to time, but the waitress will usually apologize for any mishaps, fill your coffee mug, and correct any problem. If you don't know anyone here, don't worry. Just grab a table, order a coffee, and get a menu. And there are usually breakfast specials for the day if you can't make up your mind over what to get from the menu. Such as the pumpkin pancakes that were featured on the specials of the day. And this place does make a good pancake! I might just have to find a reason to get back over there soon!

This is a hreat breakfast and lunch diner. I have been coming here for 11 years. Great omelets and burgers. Great friendly service. Must try.

Good little diner near Michigan and Orange, Carol's has slow but friendly service and every local within a two mile radius. Their biscuits and honey are delightful. Omelets and hash browns were good. You can order the hash browns to your liking (I got them well done and they came out crunchy which is what I like). They have Chalula hot sauce, too. Goes nicely on the omelets. Pros - good food, locals discussing politics at most of the tables Cons - slow service and restaurant could use some upgrades (stained ceiling tiles, etc)

Everyone clear the pool, we got a dive here! If Cheers was a breakfast/lunch spot, I think this would be it. They pretty much treat everyone like a regular and regulars like kings and queens. Customer service is good here, sure they may forget to bring you your chili but they will comp it and offer a sincere apology. If this place was in a beauty pageant it would not even be considered for honorable mention. It does have a touch of the homey feel but It is pretty rundown.....not in the dirty sense to the point where I would fear for my health eating here though. The food is good but won't be winning any awards anytime soon. The burger was decent and the meatloaf was just okay.

Terrific place for breakfast. Love the friendly service and excellent food they serve. I assume their lunch is just as good but only have been there multiple times for breakfast. Also appreciate the egg whites and turkey sausage options to stay healthy.

Carol's Place is a favorite for a wonderful southern breakfast! It is friendly, with the best servers in town, and the price is right. I don't eat breakfast out very often, but when I do i call a friend and we always opt for Carols Place.

Orlando isn't short on amount of diners. Carol's place to me just wasn't as good as other diners. Stopped in on a Sunday morning and did have a slight wait to get a table. I wasn't very impressed with the breakfast selections offered. They had your typical breakfast options, but I felt that there wasn't much offered or a large variety. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, a side of hash browns, and a biscuit. The breakfast sandwich was good but the hash brown and biscuit were just OK. With all the other choices to grab breakfast/brunch in Orlando, I don't think I will be in a big rush to go back to Carol's place.

Mediocre omelets, their strengths are pancakes and biscuits and gravy! Fun ambiance!

Lived down the street for 3+ years before giving this place a try, and let me tell you, Ive been missing out. We waited about 15 minutes to get in (9:30am on Sunday) but it's worth the wait. They had some intriguing Benedict and omelet options but I didn't look far past the 2 eggs with bacon and typical accompaniments...etc. Ordered my eggs cooked over medium, and for the first time in what feels like YEARS, they eggs were cooked properly. Bacon is always good, even when it's bad, so no complaints there. Rye toast was thick but not super heavy, and the potatoes needed a pinch of salt but otherwise very good. M'lady had the same breakfast but had cheese grits and a biscuit. The biscuit is big, and I expected it to be brick-esque but was surprisingly fluffy. I will definitely be back.

This is a nice classic style diner. Very clean, and the staff is very nice. Good coffee and a good variety of, basic, breakfast items. The lunch menu looks slightly more varied. Had a slight issue and our waitress was very apologetic and took a % off of our bill. Will go back sometime soon to sample lunch!

Great place with fast and friendly service. I had a delicious veggie omelette and opted for the hashbrowns over home fries. Even the coffee was tasty.

The best buttermilk biscuits and gravy. This place was our fist stop after flying in from NY. We had breakfast here, it seems to be a local favorite. Go where the locals go :)

Typical breakfast joint, very casual, lots of old-timers, decent food, fairly quick service, probably wouldn't go back unless it was all there was and I was in the area but at the same time not saying its a bad place, just kind of a breakfast-dive...

The breakfast was absolutely amazing and the service was just as great! I got the country fried steak with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and grits. Everything was delicious and fresh. The country fried steak made my best ever list! Definitely recommend the breakfast!!!

It's packed if you go on a weekend but it's well worth the wait. Going to Carols for breakfast reminds me of going to my mom's house or grandma's house - home cooked, comfortable, makes you want to go there in PJs place. You can't beat the prices at this place either and everyone that works there treats you like family.

I was on the road working and was really in the mood for some home cooking. Carol's hit the spot. The pot roast was just like grandma used to make. I'll be back if I'm through on business again.

I got the chance to eat at Carol's Place with a friend and my son last week. I ordered the veggie omelet with crispy home fries and a biscuit, my son had the kid's banana pancake, and our guest ordered fruit and a bagel. I'm not the biggest omelet fan but for some reason I was in the mood to try it. It was scrumptious, filled with veggies and a little Swiss cheese that balanced out the eggs well. Not too salty and nothing was over oily. The home fries were wonderfully crispy the way I ordered them and perfectly seasoned. The biscuit was one of the best I've had at a local restaurant. The way the bread pulled apart guaranteed it was homemade and the texture was the perfect balance of crumbly, moist, and tasted wonderfully fresh. My son's pancake kid's meal was only $1.99 and the pancake was huge, with real banana slices all over the bottom. Nothing sat in the prep area for too long and after a perfect breakfast such as this one I'm left to wonder how Cracker Barrel is still in business. The only one thing that would have sold me the fifth star would be if the butter and jam were homemade. I know it's not typical for a southern home style diner to go to that extent with their food, but when you are serving the best biscuits in town (to my knowledge) why not also have condiments that are worthy? Definitely will be back. Thanks Carol's for a terrific breakfast!

great place for breakfast! ridiculous prices! awesome service! Awesome diner, you will get an really great diner experience. The food is way above average for a place like this. The coffee will keep on flowing as long as you want it. The decorations give this place a interesting character but you'll be concentration more on the food than on your surrounding. I highly recommend it.

I must do an about-face on Carol's, located on South Orange Avenue, about 1/2 mile south of Publix. One of my earliest reviews on Yelp was about Carol's Diner. It was short, mean, meaningless, and one-star, based on two visits there. But after going there two or three more times, I've been won over. My most recent visit was for breakfast with two friends. The joint was packed, with people waiting for a table. I had a fine cheese omelet with good old Southern grits and some rye toast. The staff at Carol's is just the best. Friends of Dorothy are always welcomed here.

We love this place for breakfast. Super friendly staff, good food, and clean!! Most of the time our waitress is Carrie and we have nicknamed her the "wait-goddess" as she anticipates all our needs! A pleasure to go here.

This is one of those little places that sends you home happy. I've been here twice, had the Corned Beef Hash and liked it both times. It's kind of a dive, but the food is good, the portions are generous, and the staff is nice.

We just had Mother's Day breakfast at Carols. We are definately fans of this place now. It reminds me of those small local diners you find in the midwest around the lakes or the very small towns around the country. Food was plentiful and very tasty. We took Sean A's advise and ordered a side of the banana pancakes - OMG!!!! That will be one of my staples when I go back. We both had one of the specials. I wanted to try a bit of everything but couldn't even finish my one plate. Since it was Mother's Day, I got a free dessert. I asked the waitress to just bring me one of her favorites. I was lucky enough to get the Rocky Road Brownie. It was googey and rich and hard to put down the fork. We love little places like this. I want to go back and try lunch.

For some odd reason, Carol's Place is one of those places you visit during the week, when you don't think you deserve breakfast out, but you're too lazy to cook. Usually, before a day of making stuff happen or just relaxing. Carol's Place just is. Nothing special, but nothing missing. You come here because it's comfortable and you're satisfied when you leave. You come here because the coffee cups don't match and I'm not sure if the coffee does either. The banana pancakes have.... BANANAS. Nice chunks of bananas. The selections of omelets are enough to satisfy any craving - especially with a side of pancakes, your choice of flavor. Service is attentive and calming. Definitely a place I take guests that want something unique and charming to Orlando.

Delicious breakfast burrito. Hot, fast, and cooked perfectly. Great small town atmosphere. Get away from chain restaurants and dine at this establishment soon!

For some reason there seems to have been a stretch of creepy, greasy diners up and down the Orange Ave corridor. Fortunately for the hungry (and moderately broke) Carol's is not one of them. Her place is bright and clean with big plates of stick-to-your ribs cookin' that keep her customers coming back for more. The banana pudding is a frequent sell out, their biscuits could rival the Daybreak Diner's, and the big entrees are super for the price. Sunday brunch tip: Daybreak Diner is closed on Sundays while Carol's is open and a short drive away...just be sure to get there during church or you may have to wait for a table! Service can be a little slow or confused at times, but always friendly in the end. Carol herself is a stitch. She may be rough around the edges, but then again you might find her sitting down at your table for a chat and ordering for you!
