Thanks to all you Yelpers for turning me on to this place. I would have never really thought to stop in here, the place is tiny and you hardly notice it when driving by. There is not much atmosphere or room to sit down or move around inside. English is not much used here. The Arepas are absolutely delicious, and the Chicken and Avocado one is my favorite of the menu options. I always get them to go.

I am on a never ending quest to find the best Venezuelan food, wherever I go. Why, you ask? Because my family is from Venezuela and it has been difficult to find anything truly comparable outside of my mothers kitchen. There are a ton of Colombian arepa options, but they aren't the same, people! Sure, there are a few Venezuelan food trucks and they do hit the spot, but my quest has been ongoing. I wanted a place that was convenient (so not down near I-Drive or the airport) and stationary. But being a native Orlandoan, Orlandite, Orlandoer (?) I had not yet found the perfect arepa. Dare I say...my quest...is over! It exists in the Milk District of Downtown Orlando! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the perfect arepa can be found at Arepas and More Cafe. If you have not stopped in, don't let the (absolutely perfect) sketchy plaza throw you. Go savor a perfect arepa. If you're not feeling an arepa, no worries, that "and More" really does mean something. They have a full menu of options to choose from, including cachapas, tequenos, empanadas, and more (see what I did there ;)

I've been meaning to try arepas and more for some time now. I loved the food! Hard time finding better arepas in orlando - certainly the best chicken and avocado arepa ever! The service was ok at best. One of the employees brought us our food and drinks without even looking at us or replying to our "thank yous". The food took a long time to be prepared, which is great because you know it's being cooked fresh, but our order of fried plantains was forgotten and didn't come out until we had both finished eating... If you eat here get it to go. Btw, apparently this is the arepa place the gringos locos employees go to so take that as you will. To be clear, the 4* is because the food was phenomenal. The service was a 2* at best, but I didn't want a poor star review to influence a choice on this place. It definitely deserves checking out!

I'm here for the first time because of Yelp and let me tell you guys this is some of the best Cuban coffee I've ever had! I just got back from Miami so I've had a lot to compare it too. And the empanadas! YUM

This is definitely my go to spot for arepas. The food is always amazing and the people friendly. I've had a few of the arepas and the chicken and avacado is by far my favorite. . The empandas can't be beat either.

I really liked this place. A little hole in the wall that most people would probably pass by on any normal day. A Venezuelan lady is there cooking superb arepas and other local dishes. I had the chicken and avocado arepa, and it was spectacular. You can also call in ahead of time if you want something to go. Great lunch place.

This place was great! I wasn't sure when we drove up though. It isn't much to look at and can only sit a few people, but the food was simply awesome!! I got the roast pork and onions with the white rice and black beans. The pork was juicy and flavorful! The rice was perfect and the beans were good too. My husband got the pollo ala plancha. It too was very good. We also shared a chicken and arepa avocado. Very simple but good. We had the tostones and a beef empanada. They were both good too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get good Latin food!!!

This place is so yummy, I highly recommend it. I may have gone three days consecutively, goes to show how awesome they are. It's a hole in the wall, which are my favorite! The restaurant is tiny; I would recommend ordering and then picking it up to go. I wish they were open late at night, it would be the perfect spot to go after a night of bar hopping. Make sure to call and get the updated menu prices because these are misleading.

Completely uninspiring food with lackluster hospitality to match. I was completely taken aback, NOT when 4 bricks of unmelted cheese was found in my arepa, BUT, when I politely asked if my cheese could be melted, she replied with, "Next time tell me you want it melted" ...uuuuhm head-scratcher, right? After she reluctantly takes my depressed little arepa back to the kitchen I heard what NO CUSTOMER ever wants to hear.....a MICROWAVE BELL. After telling myself to just get over the bells & just eat it, the unthinkable happened, it was still UNMELTED! I was shocked to say the least at the LACK of care, quality & simple hospitality I received from a Colombian older woman. I say that, because Latinos in general are usually so incredibly hospitable, welcoming, passionate foodies (myself included.) Needless to say, I will NEVER go back & if you're anything like me & actually give a damn about quality & what establishments your money goes too, I would caution you to reverse from the scary parking lot and praythat POM POMS SANDWHICHERIA is open cuz this place is an absolute WASTE of hard earned money.

First time here. I only had the black bean and cheese arepa and all I can say is that it was one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten, bar none! I'm going back to try more for sure....

$4.99 for chicken stew with rice and beans? can't beat that. i come here for a quick and cheap lunch. there's so much food sometimes i've leftover for dinner. the arepas are pretty good too!

The expresso and cafe con leche are on point. Coming from someone who grew up in Tampa drinking lots of cafe Cubano. Food-wise, I've only had a Cuban sandwich and it was excellent. My roommate likes the ham and cheese arepa. The only thing was it was a Saturday, we were the only ones and it took almost 20 minutes for our order. Someone else had called something in. I'll do the same next time because the food is good and cheap. Otherwise I'd 5 star it for what it is.

Arepas and More is a tiny eatery on Bumby in a small shopping plaza next to Lou's Whiskey Lounge. This Venezuelan-owned cafe has room for only six small round tables placed closely together. Being Venezuelan-owned, they obviously feature Venezuelan-style arepas, which are thicker than Columbian arepas. Vegetarian-friendly but not vegan-friendly, a nice assortment of these delicious corn cakes is presented, including interesting options such as Chicken and Avocado, Black Beans and Cheese, Tuna, and Hueva Perico, made of scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes. Side items and salads are offered, as well as custard and flan. There are also platters and sandwiches. But one thick arepa and a side of arroz con frijoles (rice and beans) will be a filling meal. The staff is delightful and helpful, and the place makes you feel good.

Had the ham and cheese arepas and it was excellent. I too and pretty limited in my knowledge of "true" Venezuelan food, but I do know that I liked this. The two women that were there were sweet too and had enough English to not be a problem for this gringo.

  • William R.

I'm not Venezuelan, I'm not even Latino so scope on Arepas is pretty narrow. My narrow scope however, really liked them. Its a tiny restaurant. It's more like a lunch counter, the kind of place you pick up and split. After a few awkward moments and a little dancing on the language barrier, this gringo was able to eek out something of a respectable Arepa order. We tried the chicken with avocado and the shredded beef. Both were really tasty. The Arepas were dense and filling had pretty good flavor. Don't expect Disney style service.

I've been coming here since I was a young girl. I love this place! Its so good and everything is consistant. I always get the arepas filled with cheese. The owner is so friendly and she always has a smile on her face whenever I see her. The food is very inexpensive and quick to just take out.

While I was in orlando florida, I wanted so desperately to fill up on spanish foods I miss eating from livin in NY and specifically arepas and pupusas and I knew I'd find them in FL!! I typed arepas in my gps and to my surprise I had results, Arepas and more since it was right in town. There was plenty to order here, they had lunch specials with the food behind the glass ~ and everything looked appetizing but I came for my arepas! For those who never had arepas it's a corn cake stuffed with cheese and usually ground meat (I get just cheese). The corn cake is slightly sweet like the taste of a corn muffin, but the texture is fluffier and it's crispy on the outside. Inside is a salty mozzarella cheese. These combinations are sooo delicious. I bought two for the drive back to sc and knew I'd probably not see an arepa again in several months anyway I miss them! I also got some colombian sodas, postobon and soda colombiana. They are fun super sugary sodas that kind of taste like bubble gum or cotton candy. I'll be in orlando again and when I do arepas y more is on my itinerary.

I have to stop and eat here anytime I'm near. OMG is the food good and authentic too. Family owned business and they are very friendly and nice. The cute Latina that works with them makes it very desirable to go too! lol Love it!

The arepas are delicious. Have the roast pork or the chicken & avocado. The beans and rice are excellent. There are super cheap lunch specials and awesome fruit shakes. If I lived in this area I would be here every day.

After passing by this place SO many times, I was finally able to try their fabulous arepas and I'm so glad I did! This is a small establishment with about 4 tables inside and a couple outside. I would say this is more of a takeout place. So let's get down to the main dish...the arepas...yes they were amazing! They are very authentic and made from scratch. I ordered the chicken and avocado (Reina Pepiada) and the boyfriend had the pork arepa. Both were delicious and very filling. The service is great, no-frills, homey sort of ambiance. If you have any questions about the food they are more than happy to answer them for you. The arepas did take a while to prepare (10 mins or so) so the lady at the counter told me to call ahead so they can have them ready next time. SCORE! I can't wait to go back and try their empanadas, cachapas fruit smoothies and everything else my tummy can handle!

I used to like going to this place; however, the food quality has gone way down (tasting & looking burned) and this morning, I was served after someone else who came in after me! I can't understand how they can blatantly give away my coffee order to one of their buddies then make me sit and wait to get a new coffee order made! I literally stood up to get my drink and the guy looked right at me and then walked over and handed MY coffee to his friend. And they're using a Silvia Rancilio which are not the fastest machines to begin with. I was seriously angry, but what you can you do? Some people just run their business like a high school hallway. Don't bother with this joint; if you're not their buddy, they don't want you there.

Ever had a penguin butler a little too close to your crotch? Sounds like you've been to Arepas and More Cafe! After a couple of visits I can definitely say I'm a fan. On my first visit I ordered a cheese empanada and a pork arepa. The empanada was awesome, and others I've had. The outside was this perfectly crisp shell that crunched as you bit in to get to the heavenly cheese inside. The arepa I enjoyed, but I was not blow away. The pork inside is was tender, tasty, and juicy, while the corn cakes they used were good. Even with the mayo or whatever was on thre, I thought it was a bit dry. I'm not sure if that's normal or because I had only had cheese arepas in the past. I just got back from my second visit this time I loved both items. I again ordered a cheese empanada, because... Well, the first was awesome. This time though I decided to get a shredded beef arepa, which I split with my girlfriend. I thought this arepa was so much better than the first. I'm not sure if it was because the meat was shredded this time, how they cook it, or all of the seasonings, but it was not dry in the least. There are quite a few items on their menu that I'm wanting to try, and on every visit I find myself staring into the heated case with the rice and beans. Really need to try a few things from there as it all looks so good. The dining area is super small but that was not an issue on either of my visits. With 8 small tables, each with 1 chair, this really is not a place for groups. If you have more than 2 or 3 people you may want to pick up your order and go eat in a parking lot, or outside or there are seats available. I'm sure at the right times it can get pretty packed. Overall, very happy with the place!

This place is one of those hidden gems that I just LOVE to find. I went here last Friday for lunch to try my first arepa. Arepas are basically cornmeal "cakes" that are stuffed with deliciousness such as chicken, ham, pork, etc. I had the Chicken & Avocado one and it was phenomenal. The mix of flavors was great. I also tried the "Cachapa" - which is an Arepa stuffed with cheese and sweet corn. Doesn't sound like much, but let me tell you... it was delicious. I noticed that they had a hot case with a number of different dishes like rice and beans and meat. I didn't try that because I was too busy gorging myself on arepas. It's a tiny little hole-in-the-wall type of place with a few tables inside and a couple outside. They are friendly and give great service. They are only open M-F from 7am til 4pm. I will definitely be heading back to try a few more of those delicious arepas!

Excellent arepa! I had the chicken with avocado and soursop shake! Delicious! The place could use a little remodeling, and maybe have the floors scrubbed, nonetheless it was a great experience!

The Milk District is more well known for Beefy King, Drunken Monkey, Social Chameleon, etc. But as a consistent patron of the area, you can't help but notice the Latin American aspect of this area. Medina's Grocery, Arepas and More, and El Coqui Mexicano were the trinity of Latin American establshments that gave the Milk District an ethnic flare. I've never had the pleasure of trying El Coqui Mexicano before it closed but I have been to the quaint and wonderful Medina's Grocery. So after driving past Arepas and More an innumerable amount of times, we finally decided to walk into the humble establishment and try some of their Arepas. The place appears to be Venezuelan first and foremost, with some various pan-Latin American dishes. I've had my fair share of Arepas from various latin food trucks, cocinas and restaurants and I am definitely a fan of the stuffed corn flour/dough cakes, but Arepas and More was a disappointment as far as Arepas go. We ordered 2 Arepas. One Chicken and Avocado Arepa, and one Pernil Arepa. Both with (I assume) Guayanes white cheese. We also purchased an empanada and a cafe con leche as well. The flavors of the Arepas seemed non-existant. The chicken and pork lacked any distinct flavor. No zest, no savory aftertastes. Nothing. The corn cakes were supremely flavorless as well. Don't get me wrong, they looked fantastic. But there was little semblance of flavor. The carne empanada we ordered was the Venezuelan version. Most empanadas you'll see are made with dough that is deep fried and flaky when settled out of the fryer. A Venezuelan empanada is different in that they utilize a corn flour for the casing. The result is a more bready, non-flaky casing. This is just matter of personal preference, but I'd rather have a flaky empanada. Not that the Venezuelan version is any worse, but it just isn't preferred. Typical seasoned flavors with the beef empanada we ate. Nothing too memorable, but definitely a step above the Arepas. The restaurant itself is very humble in that the eating space is maybe 15' x 15' wide with 6 plastic tables with 6 plastic chairs. When you walk through the doors you'll be flanked on each side with 3 tables and 3 chairs. As far as my experience inside, it was cozy and had character. The lady who took our order was very nice and convivial. She took our order and let us know how long it would approximately take to cook our meal. But what made me feel awkward was upon walking in, there was a fellow sitting at one of the tables by himself, in the corner, eating a meal. It felt like he was constantly looking and seemiingly staring at my girlfriend and I. I'm all for meeting people, but this blank faced fellow just kept looking at us without a word. Uhh ok? Pretty uncomfortable. If you're not going to say anything, then mind your business. Maybe I was more aware of him because the place is so small, but it was an odd vibe. During our meal out on the patio, I walked back inside to procure some sauce to give our Arepas SOME flavor. That's when I saw the same fellow behind the counter on the register and tallying receipts. I guess he works there?! If you work here, at least say hello or greet us. Don't just sit there and look us up and down. So I finally gave him an inviting hello and he gave me an awkward half smile and mumbled a hello in return. We saw another couple noshing on what seemed to be Cuban sandwiches. Which looked to be more appetizing than their Arepas. If I do come back, it'll be for their sandwiches, not the Arepas. Want a flavorful, girthy, gushing Arepa? Go to El Gran Saman on Semoran Blvd. They're the best Arepa kitchen in my humble opinion.

Like others have said, I can say that I "finally made it in here". Their hours are very difficult to oblige if you're a normal person. This place is interesting. I've never seen a table/chair configuration so awkward. 6 tables with a single chair at each, all facing each other as if there was a showdown of 3 vs 3. Beyond that, the atmosphere is cozy small and very real. This is a latin cafe in the Milk District! The menu is sizeable. I chose the pork arepa with sweet plantains. Made to order, this item took about 10 minutes to come out. Wild ceiling fans kept me cool and dried out my eyes as I waited. Upon receipt of said item, I was pleased to see the arepa was nicely grilled, with some char marks--YES! The pork was succulent and it came basted in a mojo sauce. There may have been cheese, but I couldn't tell what was going on in there actually. Nevertheless, it was tasty! The plantains were a bit dry, so that's no bueno. I chomped away. The lady told me that the chicken/avocado arepa is the top seller, as is the arepa de pabellon (shredded beef). There are daily specials for $4.99 and $6.99. The cuban sandwich with yellow rice and black beans is also $6.99 daily. I'll have to give that a try!

This tiny little place is in a strip with a Quicky Mart, next to Lou's Lounge. They offer a cafeteria style lunch, with beef, pork, or chicken, rice and beans for $3.99- $6.99, Fried plantains, potatoes, or plain arepas are available for a slight extra charge. A good Cuban sandwich will only set you back $4.50, with rice and Beans its $5.99. Empanadas (meat pies) are good, too. And easy on the wallet. Arepas, as you might expect given the name, are the specialty here and they are delicious. $3.99 each, they're filled with your choice of tender, juicy, beef, pork, ham, or beans and cheese, even tuna. If you have never had an arepa, I highly recommend that you try the ones here! Arepas take a little while to prepare, so I was advised to call ahead in order to cut the wait time.. Everything else on the menu is served quickly. There are two small tables in the front, plus a couple outside for dining. Several nice parks are within mile or so of here, though. Why not have a picnic?

Been here three times now. Each time it is wonderful! I usually get 1-2 arepas and can never finish them. Service is awesome. No language issues here. They don't even give me a chance to practice my terrible Spanish!

Ordered the shredded beef Arepa and it was very filling! Lots of customers were buying the lunch special of chicken stew with rice and beans for $4.99.. since they are known for the arepas.. I went ahead and ordered the arepa that costs me $4.50 i think. next time i will def try the chicken stew lunch special. too bad they r only open m-f until 330pm.. I finally tried the chicken stew and beef stew lunch specials.. one is $4.99 (chicken) and $6.99 for beef stew. The chicken stew is better imo.. the sauce needs more seasoning but the rice and beans that comes with it is delicious!..its def worth $4.99 for the amount of food u get!

Been trying to eat here for a while, made it here last week just as they were closing at 3:30 so I couldn't eat. Made it back today, finally! It's a pretty small place maybe enough seats for 12 people inside and another 6 or so outside. White plastic resin chairs are the bane of my existence but these are your only option here. The employees have a very limited knowledge of english but usually can understand you if you have patience, I think they understand better than they respond. On to the food. When you walk in there is a hot case in front that has a couple containers of rice(white and yellow), Black Beans, Red Beans and a couple meat dishes. I assume the meat dishes vary from day to day. They also have a wide variety of Arepas ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ar… ) which are apparently mesoamerican tortillas. Made from corn, they are often fried or pan fried and sometimes stuffed with meats and cheeses. My mom used to make them when I was younger, but the ones she made were usually pretty plain. The Arepa I had here was not stuffed with anything but was unusually good, I think it was fried in oil or butter, it was crispy, thick, flavorful and hot as the sun. Even after letting it sit for 5+ min it was still really hot. I want to try the one stuffed with shredded beef, the pork one and the cheese one, HELL I want to try them all. They also have Arepas with Ham, chicken & avocado, Black Beans & Cheese, even TUNA! I can't even imagine that one. For the main dishes they had chicken pieces floating in a dark red sauce and pork chunks in a similar sauce. The lady told me it was called pork fricassee. The pork had a lot of fat on it , just how I like it,and was super tender and the sauce was especially delicious. On the tables they have white vinegar, olive oil and bottled "picante" hot sauce. The drink selection is canned sodas and juices. They have coconut juice tall boys. The only desert available is flan but it's not quite the same texture as I'm used to in flan, it's more like a very moist cake, it was good. My whole meal was 10$ and I really really enjoyed it. I will be going back for sure. Other things they had that I didn't try yet: Plantains, empenadas, french fries, chicken stew, cuban sandwiches, steak with onions, fried fish and fruit milkshakes. Arepas & More is also known as Bumby Cafeteria. They also have a everyday lunch special for $3.99

Killer latin food; everything the previous reviews say is true. The place is a tiny, tiny mom & pop joint. There's a white board that lists the pre-made dishes a week in advance ($5-7). The beans and rice are better than I've had elsewhere. The arepas ("uh-RAY-puhs," had to Google it) are incredibly tasty...a 5 inch, firm on the outside tender on the inside, fried cornmeal disc. Split, with tender, spicy pork on between. Mmm-mmm! And for $3.99, it's a steal. If you're going for anything other than the pre-made dishes, consider ordering ahead if you're in a hurry; we waited about 10 minutes for one arepa, take-out. No worries, though--it would be a cozy place to sit around, eat some tasty food, and kick back with a bit of authenticity.

Love it! It is pretty close to my house so I have no idea what took me so long to check it out. It is pretty cramped inside so don't be surprised if you have to get it to go. I got the shredded beef arepa with rice and beans. It had great flavor. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. The staff is very friendly and willing to explain anything on the menu. The food may be slower to come out of the kitchen but it is fresh, hot and delicious! Well worth the wait.

Definitely a "mom and pop" kind of place. I had an arepa with shreded beef and cheese. It tasted great, but I was definitely expecting a different kind of cheese... not the mozzarela/cheddar. My co-worker had shredded beef, yellow rice and red beans which he seemed to enjoy as well. The service was friendly and speedy. We will definitely be coming back to this place. I don't know how we've missed this restaurant... they've been there for 19 years!

Where to start. Oh yes. . .the non service. So, here I am anxiously awaiting my arepa con frijoles negro y queso with only one other customer in the store who seemed to be completing his meal. "Sit." is what I was told to do, and so I did. . .And time went by, so I decided to take a menu and perhaps learn some more Spanish words. I learned some interesting terms, checked out some flags, and was so thrilled that I can come to this place with chickens on the tablecloths and feel that I'm not in "America" so to speak. Time continued to pass and I began to wonder if this arepa was even going to happen. I seriously would have left had I not been so hungry. Glancing in the kitchen I quickly realized that no one was working on my arepa. There was not one frijoli negro in hand. No not one. So I stood up from my assigned seated position and gave the face. You know, the angry Black woman face that is universal and requires no spoken language at all. "OK, I work on it right now." All of a sudden. . .BOOM! arepa con frijoles negro appears like magic. Es milagro! So upset and hungry that I was, I chose to eat outside to get some air. It was kinda burned; Too much protein, not enough corn cake. Just not good. Definitely ot what I had in mind. What I had in mind is really what I get at Arepa el cacao. So, I think I'll have to make a special trip to the truck to obliterate this horrible memory of my precious arepa forever.

Small, convenient, family-owned business offering cheap & tasty Latin staples. Everything is good, but go to a Cuban place for a Cuban sandwich. Only place I know of that has diet Kolita soda from Venezuela. Its good.

Just recently visited this place as I found it by searching for Arepas or Venezuelan food near Orlando and came upon this little establishment on Bumby ave in Orlando. What is there to say about "Arepas and More Cafe? Small little hole in the wall place in Orlando right off Bumby ave next to a convenience store and just a few blocks from Medinas a Hispanic store mostly Cuban products but also from other parts of Latin America. They offer mostly Arepas here but also other items such as plantains, or potatoes or even Cuban sandwich, I came here mostly looking for a good Arepa and was not disappointed but neither was it the best I have had or was anything to go crazy for. Most reviews here are really good or not so good, I guess everyone has different opinions on this business, my opinion was that the prices were good specially for a big Arepa witch it cost you $5.00 bucks, with two of those you are pretty much set unless you have a really big appetite. I ordered the chicken with avocado arepa witch seems to be popular from what most people post on here and the pork one, both made fresh and were nice and warm when I arrived after driving 8 miles just to check this place out. The chicken arepa looked like a chicken salad arepa with some avocados thrown in there and the actually taste of the arepa was not that great like when you make them at home just plain with nothing and you can taste the actually arepa, here it did not taste like that you could only taste the chicken on the arepa and the out side was a bit burn and at times you could taste the burn parts. The other arepa I ordered witch was pork had a good amount of pork in it with some what looked to be mayo and that was it, again the taste of the arepa was not there just the plain pork with some mayo. The taste of the pork was not bad but not that juicy and but over all the pork was better then the actual Arepa it self. To top if off I only gave them three stars because there hours suck, only open til 3:30pm and also because there arepas just did not have that much flavor in them. Another reason why they only got three stars was because there was not much parking around, there is two other business next door and parking is kind of hard. The inside is very tiny I also want to add that to why I rate it the way I did and there is only a few tables inside only sitting probably about 8-10 people BUT there is an extra table out side just in case you can take the Florida heat and want to melt while you eat. Still worth the try just so everyone can experience this place. Nothing special about there arepas, I though this being a hole in the wall place it would actually be good specially knowing that I have been to plenty of hole in the wall places and they are always the best but I am also glad to support mom and pop business and this was one of them. Not the best Arepas but I will go back again soon to try other dishes. I am on a hunt for the best Arepas in Orlando, If any one knows a good place let me know.
