High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

My in laws love this place. We went thera a few times, food is ok, but service is bellow average. One time we went there and the service was GREAT! But I haven't seen the same waiter again... so the service is back to bellow average. If you want just an OK service with OK food, you should try it! But if you don't want to wait at the door for a table when the place is empty, and the hostess is nowhere to be found... find another place!!!

  • D S.

Wow... and not a good wow. Let me start with the positive. * Our server was extremely nice and very competent. * The iced tea was also freshly brewed and tasty! * Applebee's is using a new waiter call button service. It's a small black box placed on the table with a button on the top, when you push it, it signals your waiter via a "Dick Tracey" watch. Kind of cool... The box also has a digital display that shows a restaurant survey, specials, donation opportunity etc. Now to the not so positive... the food. EWWWWWW.... don't get me wrong, I love food. But what I love about food is when it's fresh and quality ingredients are used. I'm not a huge fan of grease or heavy sauces, so I ordered a 9 oz sirloin steak and, yup- you guessed it- double broccoli. Both the protein and veg tasted like they had been cooked at a main location, then packed in "food-saver" bags and reheated at the store. The steak was cooked to the proper temperature, and the broccoli was bright green and tender-crisp, but they both tasted fake, as in laden with chemicals. I asked for no butter on either the steak or veg, however the broccoli came laden with clumps of unmelted "seasoning product". Double ewwwww. If you're interested in dining on over processed dredge, eat here.... Personally, I'm going to save my stomach, and calories, for a quality restaurant!

I am a big Applebee's fan. This one was ok. The last time I went in it smelled like someone had let meat just sit there and burn to death. This time the person who cleared our plates just had a graphic Tee on and blue jeans. When he reached over to grab our plates I thought it was just some random person or someone off duty, but he had a name tag on. The food is always reliable but the atmosphere is not. Below par for Applebee's. just need a few tweaks from a management.

Applebees on John Young is pretty good when you go after 9pm. They have half price appetizers which tend to be really inexpensive when you order off that menu. Great selection on those items. Happy Hour is all day everyday @ any time. 2-4-1 on draft beers, wines, and liquors. Great place to socialize and a great time with friends and family. Check it out! I got there at least 2 times a month. Staff is very good too :)

Staff was friendly and we were seated quickly, we ordered the 2/$20 and an additional appetizer-the potato twisters. They were burnt. Tasted burnt. I asked for a replacement and was initially told that that is how they look. I've ordered them before, I explain. Manager brings new ones, burnt again. I give up. I ordered steak and shrimp, steak rare. My fault I guess. It wasnt rare it was raw. I was afraid to send that back. Drinks ran dry, server asked if we wanted more, we said yes and thank you. They didn't come. Finally had to ask her as she was leaving another table (at this point we were done with our meal). I asked for the bill and was charged 22 for the 2/20. Ummm? So I asked her and she stated that the steak and shrimp was from the 2/24 side of menu. I asked her to bring me a menu and I showed her that it was on the 2/20 side And she still tried to explain that it wasnt. It is quite clearly on the 2/20 side at this point I realized I had to chalk it up to Never Ever go there again and hope that I do not get food poisoning from the raw steak. Oh and like the other with the big in her food, once the manager comes up for the negative issue, that is he last you will see of him. Horrible. Oh and after returning the twisters, waitress was cold. I've been to many Applebee's and this is by far the worst. I have had a problem last time I was here but my son wanted to go there.

So I generally avoid these types of chain restaurants for a reason..they usually suck. But a chance encounter at this one a few weeks ago changed me on this .Ask for Danielle..she is on her game and a great server,,your cup shall not be empty! I ordered the pecan crusted chix salad..and I am nor obsessed with that pecan crusted chix salad!!! It is amazing.NOT to forget to order the pretzels with beer cheese sauce. The sauce is a bit salty and there is a gallon of it (the order should have 8 pretzels)but it is worth it! It is pretty clean and quite and worth a looksie..

I go here for the drinks/food and its close to the house. That's it... I have been here more times than I can count, with my really good experiences being minimal. I have had really good experience (maybe 2 or 3) but I have had more than a few "WTF" visits too.

Terrible service, food took forever AND IT WAS EMPTY, the server rarely checked on us, it was just a bad experience over all

Nothing special or eye catching about Applebees other than their happy hour specials. Service here isn't the greatest and it's always been like that. Beer selection lacks probably because of corporate structure throughout all other Applebees. Best bet is to go for happy hour specials and grub on some decent appetizers and drink some domestic beer. Other than that I would rather eat entrees elsewhere.

I actually don't like Applebees AT ALL but somehow we we ended up here. Now the food was still only mediocre at best but our server Julie made this visit!! She was super efficient and friendly! Applebees needs more servers like her! She kept smiling while the table behind us neglected to use their basic manners...animals! Oh plus 2 for 1 (most) drinks all day, everyday!!! Yes please!

Great specials and happy hour all day every day (2 for 1). The Butter Pecan Blondie desert is DELICIOUS!! Always return for that alone. Tasted the Fiesta Lime Chicken meal today. VERY BAD IDEA. Never again. Ouch

Very good Applebee's. I ordered the grilled chicken wontons, they are my new favorite appetizer. Light and delicious. I then had the Tango Chicken and Shrimp. I wish I could express how good this dish was with an expletive. As far as franchise restaurant dishes go that dish was a nine out of ten.

I was so excited about their Roma pepper steak but I was highly disappointed. The meat tasted weird and nothing like real beef. I asked for medium temperature but the steak was over done. Unlucky for me the order was to go and didn't feel it was worth my time to drive back to complain. The rest of the plate was fine, nothing wow but the fake meat was disgusting, I wouldn't even give it to my dog.

We had a gift certificate from a year ago and thought we would finally use it. We were out early and the first ones in the door. Couldn't tell if the waitress or the place smelled of old cigarette smoke, the tables were sticky, seats dirty, menus had caked on old food, the manager was having an argument with the bartender, the wait staff had dirty aprons (how did that happen as we were the first ones there) and I could go on. Disgusting! If the staff was just sitting around you would think they could have seen some of those problems. Never again!

My folks love Applebee's. We were in the area for lunch, so we sought this location out due to it's proximity to the 417 Expressway and their familiarity with the Applebee's menu. Located in the Hunters Creek shopping area, it's very easy to get to from JYP. Both the server and hostess were very nice and the place was packed at lunchtime during the week. We were quickly brought beverages, ordered an app (Veggie Patch pizza) and our meals after chatting with our friendly server who made some recommendations. (Seinna, seek her out.) We were also checked on by the manager, who was making the rounds. Teas were refilled and Veggie Patch pizza arrived. Basically a spinach and artichoke dip quesadilla, with oozy cheese on top. Very messy, but tasty. My Mom and I ordered the Fish and chips and Dad got the quesadilla burger. All were really, surprisingly tasty. These were some great (cod) planks. Not greasy, nice sized...just really good. Mom and I commented on the unusually tasty meal more than once while enjoying our lunch. Dad was very happy with his burger choice, which was a burger patty, fresh pico de gallo, cheese and sauce served quesadilla style between two flour tortillas. Great service, good lunch- folks were very happy and I was pleasantly surprised.

Every time we come here something strange happens. Today, there were gnats in our booth and landing on our food! We asked to move over and we did. The manager came over and told us she'd call the exterminator. She was really strange and came back again to tell us she needed to call the exterminator. She didn't offer us anything.

Applebee's is another chain that is pretty consistent in terms of food quality, which is the only redeeming factor about this particular franchise. It's by no means 5 star cuisine, but it's what can generally be expected. The problem here is service. The managerial policy here ($10 off of your next meal if a manager doesn't visit your table) makes it difficult to catch a word with a manager, as they skate by the policy by either using multiple "managers" with no real authority to exact change, or by having a manager hastily deliver your food before running off. In my experience here, after being seated it takes between 8 and 15 minutes for the server to even greet us, and once you receive your drink don't worry about a refill - you won't get one. One of our visits was on "Friday 80's Night." While it isn't a big deal to me, I noticed that not a single song was played from before 2010, which goes to show the lack of effort that the leaders here are showing. At the end of what will certainly be my last visit at this Applebee's, after we asked for a box, we got one, then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes to get the server's attention for the check. To sum up, this restaurant is disappointing in every aspect of service; only the food could possibly invite return business, and even that can be gotten at any other Applebee's.

Last time I went to this Applebees it was for a friend's birthday and she chose the restaurant. When we got our food we were sitting there talking and noticed a BUG WALKING IN AND OUT of my friend's sandwich. We called the waitress over who called the manager who rudely grabbed the plate and said he'd get her a new one. (Like she wanted another one after watching a bug crawling in and out). We called the waitress back to let her know she didn't want another slider ... and ordered something else. The manager never came back to ask how our food was after we got our replacement - and when we told the waitress we wanted our gift card because they posted on the table that if the manager didn't check on our meal we got a free gift card - the manager refused stating that he had come over ... yeah, to pick up a plate with bugs on it - not to check on how the replacement was. One of the gals in the group called corporate when she got home and was told they were aware of the bug problem at that location and had scheduled an exterminator (which made the incident even worse) Never have I been treated so rudely by a manager at a restaurant. None of us will ever go back there.

Ok so I finally arrived in Orlando and boy was I hungry, so my boyfriend and I went to this Applebees. Wow there were many people that were very special working there. It was average, the food was average, nothing too special and very affordable. Take advantage of the 2 for $20 because that is the only thing worth it at this Applebee's.

Another Applebee's... meh! But the staff was friendly and food always reliable. This place was clean. Only thing I didnt like was that there was no background music while I was having my night cap on a Thursday night.

I was in the area and needed a sports bar to watch the Atlanta Falcons spank on the 49ers (update: The Falcons lost). I was going to Miller Ale House which is in walking distance but they were super packed and I could not find a parking spot. Applebee's had a regular Sunday evening after church lazy evening type of crowd. Absolutely no one was at the bar and bowling was on the tube during the NFL Playoffs! What!?! I came in and turnedup the place. Change that channel please and yes let's order from the 1/2 price menu. 2 for 1 beer, spinach dip and wings for me. The Chips were half stale but the beer and wings were fresh. (3 stars). But since I was the only patron at the bar I got all this extra attention from the lady bartenders. Free drinks, good conversation good service (4 stars ). I'm cute but maybe not that cute...maybe. Lol. I digress but they were attentive and who could resist a good tip with good service? Bartender says they get the spill over crowd from Millers but not today and I am enjoying it. And the Falcons are winning!

I love their 2-4-1 drinks all day. The other day 4 of us went to applebees to grab lunch and drinks. The manager greeted and sat us immediately by the bar so its great to see management working on the floor. Evelyn is an awesome bartender. She recommended drinks and was very personable and attentive. I ordered the caeser salad and veggies with shrimp parmesan on top....so good! Its custom ordered but I highly recommend it. I'll definitely be coming back!

Great food and especially the 2x1 drinks are a kick! The only thing is that their portions are not that big but prices are reasonable! Great place to have a few drinks after work and a few bites. Great that is within walking distance from my house. We'll visit again for happy hour!
