I will generally go to Amigos when I want cheese enchiladas or fajitas. Tonight I had the added incentive of a coupon. As always the salsa was delicious. I has the Tampico and the 2 others I was with had the Fajita Quesadilla (steak). We also had the queso My platter was good. It's never amazeballs but at least it is always consistent.

Very disappointing, their version of a taquito is somewhat surprising. they don't use real cheese, they dump on some wierd imitation cheese sauce. I am from Hawaii and I had always laughed about Japanese people making mexican food over there. Lets just say I won't be laughing anymore.

Nothing spectacular. The food portions are way to big and they really don't have any distinct flavor a as I would expect a tex mex place. The server mike did an okay job, but you can tell he really isn't in to this job. I'm guessing he wasn't able to get a job in his chosen profession so he's doing this until something better comes along. The place was like a ghost town which should have been my first clue. Oh well.

We stopped in for Cinco de Mayo tonight because it's one of our favorite Mexican places on this side of town. Food is great and portions are huge. Their chips and salsa are some of the best I've had. Beer selection is lack luster, but their combination plates are on point. If you want an affordable meal and live music, stop on by!

I came here with my fiancee. When we sat down we were greeted by our server and he brought us chips and salsa. We looked at the menu while eating chips. Our water came back and we ordered our food. While getting to the bottom of the chips we noticed some 3/4 inch brown objects in the chip basket. I was sure it was rat droppings. My fiancee begged me not to say anything, so I reluctantly did not. However we both decided we did not want anymore chips. Our food arrived and it was not the best. I had a chimichanga and the chicken seemed burnt and so did the tortilla it was wrapped in. My fiancee said she did not enjoy what she had either. I am going to keep telling myself it was not rat droppings in our chips. However I would warn anyone to be careful when they eat here. I took a photo that I will try to post. Why am I giving it 2 stars instead of 1 you ask? Since I reluctantly agreed not to say anything while there I am giving them 1 extra star.

My son and I ate dinner at Amigo's tonight. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the experience. Our dinner began with stale complementary chips and watered down salsa. Followed by the worst beef enchiladas imaginable. The best item on the plate was the Spanish rice! Service wasn't too good either...ugh! We won't be returning to Amigo's. There's too many other restaurants in the Waterford Lakes area to choose from. Adios Amigo's!

Not impressed at all. Watered down margarita and bland food. The chile relleno's batter was way too thick. The queso over the relleno tasted like melted velveeta. Totally regret wasting my calories on this wannabe Mexican restaurant.

Basic Americans trying to make Tex-Mex style food. Nothing special about their menu or quality of food. College kids as waiters and OK menu prices. There are better options for Tex-Mex, but this place is not too bad.

This place used to be my go-to spot when friends or family would come visit me freshman year of college. That being over 5 years ago, this place has gone to the pits since then. I also had NO knowledge of the Orlando area then, and would honestly recommend almost any other place OTHER than Amigos to dine at. Hell, there's a Pollo Tropical down the street on Colonial, you'll find much better spanish food there. However, I'm giving this place 2 stars for the $1 margaritas and karaoke on Wednesday nights - the only saving grace this place has, I'm sure. They also serve you endless chips and salsa which are pretty great and FREE. So, go on a Wednesday, get wasted on $1 margaritas and chow down on the freebies. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else in Waterford if you must. There is also a Chipotle right across Alafaya which never disappoints.

My photos corresponding to this review are posted, but at the back of the gallery. Amigos which I now call ami-gross is extremely disappointing! I saw they were busy so I decided to give it a try and regretted it immediately. The hostess was friendly and the server was okay. The booth my boyfriend and I sat at was stained and disgusting! My steak fajita quesadilla was bland and the steak was tough and overcooked. The free salsa was also bland and tasted just like tomato paste to me. I am a south Florida native so I know fresh salsa, this is store bought. I only ate 2 pieces of the quesadilla because it was so nasty then I decided to go to the restroom before I left.... The toilet was DUCT TAPED together and the garbage bin had a nasty bacteria like film on it. This place obviously has employees that don't care. Don't waste your time going to ami-gross

Good food and a lot of it we like this place. Good taste and the staff is very nice. We try enchiladas, tamales and tacos and we recommend all of them. If you like TrxMex flavour this is one place uou have to visit.

I am seriously disappointed at the poor customer service received not only on Easter but on my son's 10 year birthday. I was told on Saturday that reservations are recommended for Easter Sunday and that I had to arrive 15 minutes before my reserved time because they would only hold the reservation for 15 minutes. So we arrived 15 minutes prior to our reserved time as directed and the hostess had no idea what I was talking about and my table for 9 was not even set up. My son loves the food at Amigo's, so needless to say he wanted his family birthday dinner here, also looking forward to his Mexican birthday sombrero (We often frequent Amigo's on birthdays). Well, the place was empty and the service was ridiculously slow, for starters. My husband had to go searching for the waitress in order to get the "birthday dessert" after I specifically told her we were celebrating a my son's birthday when she first took our drink order. She comes back with a slice of cake and no sombrero. After we sang happy birthday I asked her for the birthday sombrero, which was odd because they usually bring it w/ the cake and the staff sings happy birthday. She comes back and we thank her. Nothing else was said, she cashes us out and we proceed to exit the restaurant. As we are saying our goodbyes outside the restaurant and are walking over to get dessert another staff members runs outside and takes the sombrero away from my son. I was absolutely appalled. Her excuse was that they only have one left and they are on back order! REALLY??? You take a sombrero back from a 10 year old as if he was stealing it or something?!?!? What a disappointed child and what nerve. Shame on this staff for such lousy service over a cheap sombrero! They have lost yet another customer!

This was the first Mexican place I tried upon moving to Orlando, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. Right when I sat down, I was already impressed with how good the salsa was, and that you had halves of hard taco shells to dip instead of chips. $1 margaritas on Wednesday nights? Hell of a lot cheaper than what you'd spend at World of Beer, and you'll be sure to actually get some service without having to deal with as many douches. But I digress... The food is fantastic, and the portion sizes make it difficult to choose whether you want to have all this satisfaction right now, or take some home to enjoy at a later time (maybe after a bunch of $1 margaritas).

Most definitely the worst food I've ever eaten. (I ordered an enchilada) Felt sick the whole time next day and two others from my party got food poisoning. Proceed with caution.

I enjoy eating here at night when it's not too hot so I can sit outside. Steak fajitas is my favorite. Not too pricey, always good!

I don't remember eating Mexican food where Salt and Pepper are the primary "spices." Seriously, this food is to mexican as spaghetti o's is to Italtian. Hands down, this was the worst Mexican food I have eaten. I suppose if I'd been stuck in North Dakota for 10 years and didn't know any better, I, too, would rave about it. YUK. The server was wonderful, which is why I gave this Two Stars.

Fast service. Fresh food. Friendly staff. Food is standard texmex, like the name says. We liked it.

Terrible food! The most bland sauces that I have ever tasted. Our server was new and an absolute nightmare. Brought me the wrong dish 3 times!! Asked for the manager, who comped the meal. I will never return

  • Leslie S.

I gave this restaurant three stars not only because the service was slow (two hours to serve four people and the place was half empty), but because most of my parties orders were bland. However, I had the fish tacos and they were delicious and very flavorful.

  • Colie M.

By far the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to!!! Chips aren't cooked and are chewy and their margarita mix is watered down with no flavor what so ever. Heard their $1 margaritas one Wednesday were bad but I figured it was because it was $1. Will never be returning. Bartender not professional at all. Will never recommend to anyone.

I'm not sure how this place stays so busy. It's one step up from Taco Bell in terms of quality. Their queso dip tastes just like the jarred crap you get on the chip aisle at Publix. In good conscience, I don't see how they can serve it. It's insulting. The stuff is straight out of a can. My last visit was the worst yet. The server didn't know the me menu. Screwed up the order and the Manager acted as if he couldn't be bothered. Amigos was at one time pretty decent. It's had a slow and steady decline. The food is really bad. Anyone that tells you otherwise can't be trusted. Avoid it at all costs.

I wandered into Amigos on a whim one afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my first experience. The food was decently portioned for the price you pay, and the interior had a really nice vibe to it with a friendly staff. Amigo's food is pretty close in comparison to that of Tijuana Flats, but a slightly pricier and more sit-down friendly experience. They have a nice selection of different Tex-Mex style food, appetizers and drink menu. The plate portions were decent, almost worth it for the upgrade in price. Glancing at their drink menu, they have what your typical full bar would offer at competitive prices to other sit down restaurants. The only negative on the experience was probably the Queso dip, it tastes much like macaroni and cheese without the pasta; and not very spicy or seasoned. Everything else ordered at the table tasted great. I would recommend Amigos to anyone wanting some good Tex-Mex. Like mentioned, it's pricey-er then it's comparable Tex-Mex competitor, but for the sit down experience and the portions, it's worth it. I'd definitely frequent again soon!

I've eaten at Tex-Mex and Authentic Mexican food restaurants and this one doesn't even make the bottom of the list. The rice was dry and tasted like cardboard, the food was cold, and the service was very sparse, unresponsive, and slow. We got our food and the server left so fast that we didn't get to ask for silverware that we were supposed to have. By the time we got our silverware, the food was cold. The server came by once to our table. Will never go here again.

Chips and salsa delicious. Carne Asada melted in my mouth. Queso yummy. Service excellent. Rice is so so. Beans were good. Beer super cold. Will return!!

I come here every now and then; always a Wednesday for their $1 or $2 margaritas. It's a great way to relax after work (especially for a poor college student). I always sit at the bar so I can't comment on the service given to tables. I have always received great service from the bartenders here. The food here is alright. In the past, I got a taco salad and the shell was greasy. Taste-wise, I enjoyed all the food I have had here but again, it's just alright. It's stuff I can make at home. Maybe a new menu item to excite the crowd? Not much to say about this place; it is what it is.

This place is crap. The service was rude the order was wrong and the manager was very nonchalant about our poor experience making excuses instead of rectifying the issues.. First & Last Visit for this family of 5 who eats out regularly!!

  • T.K. S.

Did not at all care for the food. The queso blanco was cheez whiz. The margaritas are no good and we all know that's the most important factor in rating a Mexican restaurant.

Nice place, good atmosphere. Outside seating is nice. Service was great, even outside. The food was great, quick and delicious. Happy hour margaritas make everything better! Bathrooms are clean as well.

Salsa is watered down. Strip mall place that would have trouble spelling Tex-Mex...

    (2)
  • Bryan M.

Good attempt at Tex-Mex, but pretty subpar. First and only visit to this place. I ordered the Something al Carbon. It was dry, boring, and not what I expected. The chips and salsa were good, but those are free. Luckily, I had a Groupon so I didn't have to overpay for the less than good food.

    (2)
  • Scot G.

Service was awesome and friendly, and the food came out fast. The manager even came around to ask how things were. That's the only reason why I'm giving this place one star. I will always applaud great service. Now on with the bad: 1. This place is filthy. The lights are dim but as you make your way through the restaurant (and perhaps to the restrooms), have a look around. Everything is dirty and is in dire need of a military scrub-down (especially the restrooms). Check out the breathalyzer machine on the wall, it looks like someone spilled a drink on it last year and it hasn't been cleaned since. If the outside of the restaurant looks like this, just imagine what the kitchen and food-prep areas look like. 2. The food is sub-par. Chips weren't warm at all, I imagine they've been sitting in a basket all day in the back. The salsa has nothing going for it, basically tastes like Pace Picanta salsa. The Cheese Enchilada came out VERY lukewarm... This did not surprise me. Also went with the veggie fajitas... I can only compare the taste to pureed baby food wrapped in a tortilla. 3. Vegetarian options lack any thought whatsoever. Hmm... If I were to make a vegetarian fajita option, I wonder what I might include? Perhaps grilled onions, green & red bell peppers, and some tex-mex veggies? Nah, let's just throw in some sauteed broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, and some yellow squash. Yeah, seriously. 4. The atmosphere is all over the place. As you look around, you might notice the bright pink A/C air ducts at the ceiling (trying to figure out how that ties in to tex-mex). You might also notice (like we did during this holiday visit) that a James Brown Motown song is playing from the ceiling speakers, but the next song is a Charlie Brown Christmas tune (okayyyyy...). In addition to the sub-par food, the "we're trying so hard to be all things to all people" atmosphere just adds to the cheesy cringe-factor. I'll never eat here ever again. Do yourself a favor and go to Chevy's Mexican Restaurant (in Lake Buena Vista) if you want tasty mexican food.

Can you really call this food? I can't believe this place still open. Worst Mexican food in the planet.

  • Gary R.

This might be one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. Service was slow, sodas were flat, and my burrito was literally frozen Tyson chicken chunks that weren't even properly heated in the microwave with soggy black olives and lettuce and barely melted cheese. Place sucks.

I always have a difficult time saying what it is that is lacking when it comes to Amigo's food. They have a decent selection, menu wise, and good drinks. However, everything I've ordered is really just average: not bad, not good, just average. Nothing is exceptionally fresh and I assume that most of it is pre-made and warmed; there's no "Mexican" flavor about it. We really only go to Amigo's for karaoke and $1 margaritas on Wednesday nights. It is always a good time and we've gotten to know the bar and wait staff, who are all friendly and welcoming. If you're going for a drink, it's a good spot; otherwise, I wouldn't go or the food alone.

I have a love-hate relationship with this Amigo's. I've been here several times and have mainly had good experiences, but there were a couple times that were maybe not so much. Overall the pros outweigh the cons, therefore I continue to come back. Pros: Lots of specials: They have good food and drink specials every night. Among my favorite is Thursday when you can get 3 enchiladas, rice and beans for $4.95. Food: If you are craving good ol' cheesy, saucy Tex-Mex, the food definitely delivers. Chips and salsa are complimentary, and the salsa always tastes fresh. My favorite thing would have to be the 3 Amigos (3 enchiladas with your choice of meat and sauce, comes with rice and beans). I tend to order that the most, but I recently tried the El Leon (chicken or beef wrapped in a tortilla and fried, then covered in 3 sauces: green chili, queso and red chili w/ meat). Not only is it pretty looking (the sauces were arranged in colorful stripes on top), but it's a huge portion (enough for hubby and I to share and be full). We both liked it and would order it again. Atmosphere: Fun and lively, and the decor lends well to the theme. Cons: Bathrooms: They are always dirty, out of toilet paper, and almost always one of the stalls is out of order. Unless it's an emergency, I try to avoid the bathroom. Service: Not very consistent...I have had good, okay and bad service here. If you are getting a food or drink special, double check that the server rings it up correctly. Food: Most of the time the food comes out lightening fast. Some may not think that's a bad thing, but it makes me feel like I'm being rushed. Sometimes I've barely taken a sip of my margarita, and BAM, there's the food. Also, the rice and beans that come with most entrees lack seasoning and are very bland.

I can't seem to find GOOD Mexican food in Orlando! So this is my go to chain restaurant when I want chips and salsa and enchiladas. It is tasty and cheap. Nothing like the Mexican I crave from my time in Arizona..... but it works.

  • Christina H.

Amigo's is not my first choice for Mexican food, but for the sake of convenience I turn up here from time to time. The margarita's are good, and really, does anything else matter? You know... it's hard to write a review for a place like this. It is good. there's nothing wrong with it. It's just boring... But it's a yummy kind of boring, and that's OK. I was impressed by the assortment of roasted veggies in the Fajitas. That was different and good. I had the cheese enchiladas, which are exactly the same cheese enchiladas you would get anywhere else, but hey, it's good. So, a solid 3 star place. It is just fine but makes for a boring review.

I took my nieces here yesterday for lunch. Started off with huge warm chips and delicious chips. Ally ordered cheese enchiladas that looked like a squared soft taco with no sauce. She is a kid so she was ok with it. Though she did not like the refried beans. I thought they were ok. Ava had two beef tacos and rice and beans. She was happy. I ordered something different...beef caliente (sp) with tortillas. It was all served room temperature. I was with the girls so I wasn't in the mood to send back to heat up. It was good but could have been a lot better. Service was fine. Overall, I really like this restaurant. Good food - fine service. I will be back,

Decent food, quick service for Tex Mex style food. Love the 2 for 1 margaritas during happy hour.

It's been over 5 years when I had a bad experience here. New owner changed things around last November. Service was outstanding. Food served quickly. If you like heat then get their red sauce with the chips. I had the Sante Fe dish with a variety of items. All good but the ground beef need something. Nothing their hot salsa and Tabasco couldn't fix. Jacqui's BBQ Burrito was almost perfect. We're here at very late lunch with minimal tables filled. Don't know how they would handle a rush. I say to this place another try.

We come here on occasion for lunch when we have some things to do in Waterford and we're in the mood for Tex-Max cuisine. It's not a place that really stands out to me, but I have always had good experiences with the food. Sometimes I'll get the Combination Plate but normally I order the Cozumel, a large burrito filled with various burrito things. Free chips and both red and green salsa while you wait. The salsa is pretty thin, nothing special, but whatever -- it's free. It never really seems to be too crowded in here, at least not for lunch. I like that, though, since it's pretty quiet and relaxing. There is a band of large, musical-instrument-toting frogs off to one side, and I'm not sure why, but I like them. I haven't had any bad experience here, so my first instinct is to give it a four-star review. But then.... usually I like to save the four-star reviews for places that have at least one thing that puts a sparkle in my eye, something special that I come back for. While everything here is good, I haven't found that special thing yet. Well, maybe the frogs.

It's good for a chain restaurant, they have really good chile rellenos. I like that they have cheap drinks and can accomodate large parties.

Amigos is a family-owned restaurant with authentic Tex-Mex cuisine and very reasonable prices. Not to mention, they have $1 margaritas all day long on Wednesdays! I have a wheat allergy and the waiter was more than willing to accommodate my specific needs. I ordered the Fiesta Chicken Salad which had mixed greens, grilled chicken, sliced avocados, jicama, tomatoes and bell peppers served in a cilantro vinaigrette which I asked for on the side. The dressing absolutely made this dish! All in all-- great experience :)

A solid average place. It's about the level of a Chili's or Fridays. Nothing stands out but nothing lets you down much. The burrito was a good size but the flavors were just ok. The enchiladas had decent sauce but the meats were a little bland. Not bad if you're desperate for mexican but not a destination by any means.

Amigos is a family favorite. Catalina and Carmy know customer service. Brian Reed (owner) really takes ownership to the next level. John Lannon, great to reconnect. We'll be visiting again soon

Overall: Not bad Tex-Mex I meet some girlfriends here for dinner one evening and had an OK meal. The salsa is really good, but make sure they bring you warm chips and not the stale ones. I had a house margarita and it was just OK. For my entree I ordered the cheese enchiladas because I was in the mood for cheese and boy did I get it. I couldn't eat all three of the enchiladas and the beans and rice. It wasn't bad, but just your typical Tex-Mex fare.

Another Groupon adventure. Nice clean atmosphere was a good start. Warm chips and salsa had me thinking I may have made a good choice. Then we order drinks... premade margaritas and dacquiris are not the best. Drink tequila because the water is nasty tap and they only have Pepsi products. Entrees came out quickly but they were kind of bland. I ordered the Liberation platter and it was full of food but nothing memorable. Prices were not bad, but we would have paid more for better fare.

Please spare your self and don't go here for Tex-Mex food. Everything tasted like it was out of a can (even the salsa). It was so bad and I regret eating there. We really wanted a nice taco with some chips and salsa and we got crap. Wish we would have just cooked at home. The good thing about this place as the $1 margaritas on Wednesdays. Not a fan!

My family was in Waterford shopping and I wanted Mexican we said he haven't been to Amigos for a long time and don't remember anything bad about it so lets go. Should have went to Taco Bell is all I can say after a $40 dollar meal. I've never had such bland food before and the service was horrible. I got chicken chimi and my wife got a carne asada we were trying to figure out what to order my daughter and my wife mistakenly asked what the server thought. After a few ughhh.... oh uhh for her? comments he had nothing. He said grilled chicken it's marinaded, my wife asked in what? He didn't know he did think salt and pepper were involved but other than that all bets were off. I asked about happy hour beer specials he said "Coors light" real quick so I asked what about bottled beers, more "ughhh well" then I get the list. Chips were plan and so was the salsa (how is that possible?) I mean no salt or taste at all?? Even my 2 yr old didn't like them and she likes chips. Food came quickly which would be great if it tasted like something. I'm not kidding even the "queso" on my chimi was bland and seemed like it had cooled. In the mean time some regulars were seated behind us and our server became very bubbly and nice to them he even told stories of how he gets small tips sometimes!! Wow man I wonder why!!! This is the absolute worst place in Waterford Lakes to eat, DO NOT under any circumstance eat here even if the zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow and yelp is still up and you are reading this just get turned by another zombie and eat your neighbor you'll avoid the heartburn and bland food here.

Home of some of my favorites: Sangria-Margarita Swirl and the Tableside-Guacamole. Even their standard chips and salsa is made amazing with thin, warm, and crispy tortilla chips and salsa with the perfect ratio of liquid to solid. I can always count on Amigos for delicious drinks, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere. Their staff is actually, you know, friendly. They will make conversation and chat about the menu. When I visit Orlando, I make it a point to stop in to Amigos if I can. The managers do a great job of keeping the restaurant a place someone as picky as me would frequent!

I would give this a Meh, but I'm not sure if I am just not crazy for Mex food or if it's this place. The smoked brisket quesadillas are usually what I get at he Altamonte location but felt like something (hopefully) different and it ended up being how Mex food always is to me... nothing special. This is much larger location than the other one and cooly decorated, but the place has been around so long, I keep expecting to be blown away and really wasn't. Could just be me and I should give up on Mex. :o(

  • Elle L.

I was in the mood for Mexican - or some variation thereof - so we went to the closest place we could think of. This place is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. Our server was friendly enough, but slow - it seemed as though he had too many tables to in order to give good customer service. The food was "meh" - not anything particularly outstanding. Even the chips and salsa were just substandard. It's a great place to go if you're with a group of rowdy friends, but not so much if you're with a few people and want to talk and enjoy dinner. It's unexpectedly loud in there given the high ceiling, and they had a one-man-band playing, so it was even louder. Unless I'm desperate for Tex-Mex again I think I'll try to find a different place next time.

Since finding this place 4 years ago, the food seems to have gone downhill a bit. There's nothing overly exciting or special about it anymore. If it wasn't for Groupon deals lately, we probably would have stopped going.

I have eaten at this location of Amigos a few times and have yet to be impressed. My most recent visit (this evening) left me truly disappointed. The good stuff: I went with a group of 8 and we were seated very promptly. The chips were on the table within minutes and our drinks came out fairly quickly. The restaurant was pretty slow (6:30pm on a Tuesday...). The dissapointments: Our server was TERRIBLE. I am a very patient person and it truly takes a lot to get me to say a server is bad. He initially bought us out our drinks pretty quickly... but from that point on he didn't refill them... we had to ask him, and then he'd disappear for about 10-15 minutes. It took us literally 45 minutes to get our checks. I understand it will take longer when you're with a larger group that is requesting separate checks. Our server had to come back twice to ask us what each of us had eaten. Meanwhile, he's holding his notepad in his hands. When someone in my group asked him why it was taking so long he got a seriously attitude with us, disappeared once again, and didn't come back for another 10 minutes. I walked over to the bathroom and saw him conversing at the bar with one of his friends. Grrr....I understand that it all depends on the server you get, and unfortunately we were unlucky this evening! The thing about Amigos that has been consistently bad for me is the food. It is definitely sub par Tex-Mex. It's all pretty bland and coated in various and tasteless sauces. The meats never have much flavor. The salsa is a watery mess and the chips are super greasy. Yuck. The verdict: Go elsewhere for Tex-Mex... you will end up being disappointed by Amigos.

Terrible tex mex. terrible. Lived in Texas. Wife is from Mexico. This is just poorly done. Undercooked meat. Bland. No spice. Rare fajita steak. No med rare. Just rare. I'm thinking the cooks don't know how to cook. Dry rice. Dry beans. Terribly dissapointed.

Went here today reluctantly because the wife wanted to. I've had a lot of bad experiences coming here when I used to come here for lunch when I worked down the street. Things are just as bad today. To start off with, the service was slow. Also, as I'm asking the server for my check, he starts to walk off while I'm still also asking for a refill. Fortunately he heard me, but rude that he was walking away as I was talking. It took forever to get my food, get my check, and have him pick up my credit card. I'm sure he was probably overwhelmed, as it was surprisingly busy inside. On the menu, there was an item with a big "NEW" icon next to it for the "King Ranch Chicken". The description sounded good, but when it arrived, it was anything but. It was just OK, but nothing exciting. I felt very unsatisfied. My wife ordered the fajitas. The fajitas were OK as well. The chicken for the fajitas were at least juicy but had an unusual sweetness to them which was a bit strange. I've had better fajitas. The acoustics inside this building are awful. It's a very tall restaurant with a lot of open space, and you hear everything from around the whole restaurant. I think they had music playing but you could barely hear it. It sounded awful in there. Their comment cards on the tables ask if some basic things were performed, such as recommending appetizer/dessert, or if a manager stopped by, which none of those happened. Overall, I'd stay away from this place. Although not true Tex-Mex by any means, my wife and I enjoy Tijuana Flats a lot more. The food is good, service is always great, and a fun and intimate atmosphere.

Do you ever get that feeling before you step into a place and think you really shouldnt take a chance? Took the family there because we were craving Mexican food since we haven't had any in Orlando since moving here in January. Service was friendly but I could tell he was not too enthusiastic about the food. I had the fajitas. The meat seemed cooked well and tender but had a strong bitter burnt taste. Daughter had the quesadilla and enjoyed it but making one does not take a lot of skill. Wife had the chili relleno. REALLY BAD! Cheese sauce on top(??) was rubbery and the chili pepper appeared breaded. The month prior I went in and asked for a to go menu and was told " we don't do that" . I should've taken the hint. I can understand 3 stars by some reviewers. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, but the chili relleno was inexcusable and the fajitas were not burned but had a burned flavor. However I think anyone that gave this place 5 stars is really doing yelp a disservice and has no credibility.

it okay tex mex. My husband and I went to Amigo's in Waterford Lakes, Orlando on Sunday July 17, around 7:30. I ordered the Liberation combo meal, and my husband ordered the King Ranch Chicken. I also ordered the Sangria, and he ordered the Miller Lite special (16 oz for $3) The sangria was a murky looking wine. I am used to being able to see the fruit in it. I have been to this location a handful of times in the past, but have only reviewed on the in store form at each table. I am sorry to say that this location has dropped drastically in quality. When we walked in, I noticed the place was not busy at all. The hostess gave us a slight smile and showed us to our seats right away. However, it should be noted that she barely said hello and did not even wish us a good meal. Our waitress, Melissa, came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. She was a friendly, sweet type of girl and it was obvious she was new. She did not ask us if we wanted an appetizer when we took our drink order, which we did (queso). It seems to me that it would have made more sense to bring both drinks and appetizer at the same time. (It should also be noted that the queso, while OK, did not taste as if it was freshly made on site.) When she returned with the drinks, I asked her what exactly a tamale was since I had never had one. She didn't know and said she would ask. Shouldn't all serving staff know the menu regardless of how new they are? When she returned, she told me and she did say that her manger said it was not made on site. I decided to try it anyways. Before she left, we asked for some small plates for the chips and queso. We don't like to accidentally drip sauce from a chip on the table, especially in a place that is so stingy on napkins. She acted like it was a weird request, and we never did get those plates. Anyways, when our food arrived my husband had to peel a strip of plastic wrap off of his plate. Big clue in that the food was microwaved. The place wasn't busy, so was it really that hard to time our food and that one was sitting so long it had to be microwaved? Food quality was so-so. My taco was really greasy, and the beans tasted like the cheap canned kind. The tamale that was not made on site was definitely pre-frozen. (I had at least hoped for freshly shipped) The inside meat clumped together and left a gap between the meat and outer corn tortilla crust. The chile rellano was soggy. The enchilada was not bad, but I only got a cheese one, and you can't really go wrong with cheese. Rice was fine. My husband said his food was OK, but it definitely looked greasy. Overall, not a good experience. We can see now why the place had so few people.

Habeneros is much much better, for one. But this place isn't too bad and it's located in a convienent shopping location so I don't mind stopping by here. I usually get a chimichanga, it's never bad, but it's always so slow there and never get get service or anything. I went here with some girls from work after a night of bowling, we decided to do the table-side guacamole, where they make it in front of you for a pretty largely overpriced amount, but we were drinking, so why the hell not. The guy seemed pissed off at the world that he had to come out to make it. I mean, at least have some energetic person who doesn't seem to hate life come out and make something in front of your customers. The grac was great, but the execution was lame and very disapointing, go be pissed off while making it behind the scenes.

I'll say this; the service at Amigos was really great! Our waiter was polite and attentive. The food came very fast, was very hot and they fulfilled all of the order edits I had to make due to my allergy concerns. We didn't have drinks but given the environment coupled with the free chips and appetizer selection geared towards giving you interesting way to use those chips; Amigos would be a great place to meet some friends and have some drinks & munchies while shooting the breeze. However, the food was; just o-k. Pretty typical commercial style tex-mex, better than Chili's but marginal at best.

Service is slow, tables are only half-heartedly cleaned, and there always seem to be large parties of shrieking margarita-swilling college students here whose high-pitched singing echoes throughout the cavernous space. We've ordered vegetarian entrees and gotten pieces of meat in them- sure, you can just pick them out, but what does it say about the kitchen that ingredients are being flung around like that? I guess if you're there to drink it would be just fine, but for dinner it's not recommended.

Service was slow. Ordered from the menu for a burrito and it was more like a deconstructed fajita. Steak was not well done as requested. Food is alright.

This place is alright, kind of on par with the quality of Tijuana Flats, but nothing overly impressive. I think the margaritas, live music and lively atmosphere during happy hours and weekends are the stronger points than the food or service.

what a rip, and so far from TEX-MEX it's not even funny. i'd give it zero stars if i could. food was flavorless and overpriced for the (poor) quality received. margarita came half way through the meal. waitress was nice. it's the establishment that sucks. cheezy decor, where half of it doesn't even represent mexican OR texan culture. (there's a group of paper-mache frogs depicted where one is holding an upright bass ... what mariachi plays an upright bass!!!??!!!!) and there are a few things on the menu that just dont make sense: SPANISH rice and SPANISH sauce ... you're supposed to be serving mexican, right? (it tasted like plain brown rice and tomato sauce anyway) BISTEC tacos that come in chicken ... "bistec" means "steak" in spanish ... steak chicken tacos?? ... what's a steak chicken anyway? ... must be a new crossbreed ..... yeah, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Did not at all care for the food. The queso blanco was cheez whiz. The margaritas are no good and we all know that's the most important factor in rating a Mexican restaurant.

I gave this restaurant three stars not only because the service was slow (two hours to serve four people and the place was half empty), but because most of my parties orders were bland. However, I had the fish tacos and they were delicious and very flavorful.

  • Mike N.

Not a fan!

  • Denise R.

Did not at all care for the food. The queso blanco was cheez whiz. The margaritas are no good and we all know that's the most important factor in rating a Mexican restaurant.

Terrible food! The most bland sauces that I have ever tasted. Our server was new and an absolute nightmare. Brought me the wrong dish 3 times!! Asked for the manager, who comped the meal. I will never return

I gave this restaurant three stars not only because the service was slow (two hours to serve four people and the place was half empty), but because most of my parties orders were bland. However, I had the fish tacos and they were delicious and very flavorful.

On previous visits I wasn't so happy. This time all was great Queso blanco and a Fiesta Chicken salad. Totally stuffed! Waitress was very sweet and helpful.

Decent food, quick service for Tex Mex style food. Love the 2 for 1 margaritas during happy hour.
