Really good pork, the food came really fast. They had a variety of bbq sauce, which was great. I love having options. I will definitely go back.

It's rare to go somewhere nowadays and have food that is anything more than mediocre. The food at Ellie Lou's was excellent! My sandwich was piping hot and the fresh-cut fries were fresh out of the fryer and seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend, who doesn't get excited about food, took one bite of the beans and said, "these are freaking amazing!" The restaurant is clean and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I was mad my friends kept this place a secret! You definitely won't regret your decision to try it out.

Great clean BBQ. Hand brisket and chicken. Decided to try this place instead of our favorite 4 rivers. Was not disappointed! Very good food and friendly staff. Kids meal were great and good value!

Such incredibly good bbq! It seems that every time I make it back to Orlando I stop here as well! The Turkey is good every single time I have ordered it! Fried Green tomatoes is a must order each time (although the last time they were a bit on the cold side) Fries and fried okra are crispy and tasty! My personal favorite which some of you will laugh is the blue cheese cole slaw. I could seriously eat that stuff by the pound! I have sometimes even been at Publix and I just want some of the coleslaw and will make a quick stop there. And they don't judge me when I do it!!! Really nice staff that works there, and the hot sauce is actually HOT!!! They have quite a few option for bbq sauces, all of which are equally tasty, the mustard base one has a slight edge for me! Ellie Lou's definitely was a surprise but the kind of surprise that has you grinning from ear to ear!!!

Authentic, squeaky clean barbecue joint in Ocoee. The owner trained at Disney, and it shows from the moment you walk in the door: the place is squeaky clean and the service, very attentive. The owner lived and breathes the restaurant business, and wants all of his guests to feel like part of an extended family. I highly recommend their sausage, but get there early because they sometimes run out. If you're feeling adventurous try their take on the traditional Cuban sandwich when available; you won't be disappointed. Their collard greens are the best in town, and their cheese grits are a unique offering I encourage you to try.

The battle for great BBQ in the West Orlando/Windermere/Winter Garden area has a new contender. Ellie Lou's may not have the air of reverence reserved for 4R or be as eclectic as Yellow Dog Eats, it definitely has carved out it's own niche in this competitive market. I've become a once-a-week (at least) regular & have always experienced fantastic service, getting my food quickly, & eating some delicious BBQ. It's worth mentioning that they have daily specials. Many, if not all of them, are fantastic in their own right, but IMHO there's one that stands head & shoulders not only above the other specials but arguably anything else on the menu: the Kansas City Wet pork grilled cheese on Tuesdays. OMFG you really have no idea how amazing this sandwich is. There are 2 or 3 really gooey cheeses and a generous amount of the Kansas City Wet pulled pork between a pair of buttery toasted bread. It's off the charts! It makes me want to walk up to people in line & tell them to not even bother wasting their time looking at the menu.

THE BEST BBQ FOOD I'VE EVER HAD! So amazing! I'll definitely be coming back. I got the pulled pork with the Mac & cheese, oh so delicious.

I heard so many great things, so I had to stop by and give it a try. First, the woman that took my order was so friendly! She seriously was so nice. For me, that is a huge factor in whether I will return or not. I ordered the brisket platter and the rib platter to go. Both were excellent. The brisket was flavorful and tender and the rub on the ribs were nice. The fries are exceptional and we really liked the Mac and cheese. So glad I got to check it out. I can't wait to go back.

This place is absolutely phenomenal! It's a bit far from me, but I would definitely drive back here for some amazing BBQ! Lee is the man! He was so warm and welcoming the second we stepped inside. He was so excited that it was our first time and gave us samples in the order line of the coleslaw and mac n' cheese since we were asking what was good! He also made me his version of a snake bite with a few of the beers he had on tap and let me sample that as well and it was quite delicious, so of course I ordered one! They have the usual BBQ fare, but it's definitely outstanding in taste! I got a combo of brisket and smoked turkey (since I couldn't decide) with mac n' cheese and fries as my sides. Everything was sooooo good. The smoked turkey was by far my favorite, and all the sides were great! I loved the fries, they are fresh, hand cut and seasoned and piping hot! All of the BBQ sauces were delicious and I couldn't decide which one I liked best! Lee came over to our table to see how we were enjoying the food and wanted to recommend which BBQ sauces to use on certain meats. He definitely takes great pride in the food there! I will absolutely be going back to enjoy some BBQ and would highly recommend Ellie Lou's to anyone!

What better way to celebrate 4th of July than with BBQ food? (Sadly) I am by no means a BBQ expert, however, I know delicious food when I taste it; Ellie Lou's is absolutely delicious. My gf ordered the Pork BBQ Platter (+ Blue Cheese Coleslaw, 3-Cheese Mac, Garlic Bread) and I ordered the Brisket BBQ Platter (+ Fries, Potato Salad, Garlic Bread). Sides: I may be a bit biased since I make a great Blue Cheese Coleslaw, but I thought it was the weakest link of the meal; it was somewhat bland. The 3-Cheese Mac was tasty and definitely not lacking cheese, but not outstanding. Surprisingly, the fries were great. They had a great amount of salt and acted as the perfect sponge for their delicious sauces. The Potato Salad was solid; it was tasty and had a good potato to mayo ratio. BBQ Pork/Brisket: very moist, good smoke-ring and just absolutely delicious. There are 4 distinct sauces on table (all are great), but this is the type of meat that doesn't need to hide its flaws. My gf made a comment during the meal and I think it summed it up perfectly, "Like the sprinkles topping off the perfect sundae, they are always welcome, but not necessary." The sauces! Memphis (smoky, slightly sweet, rich), Kansas City (sweeter, less rich, slight tang), Carolina Gold (well rounded, mustard based) and Southern Lava (similar to Kansas City, but with heat as opposed to sweet). All are great and all worked well with our meat selection. The service was extremely friendly. They constantly walked around checking up on refills and always had smiles on their faces. I will definitely be back, sooner rather than later.

On our trip to Disney, we decided to check Yelp for lunch suggestions. Great thing we found Ellie Lou's. We shared a family fixins which consists of 4 fried corns, 4 pint sides, garlic bread, full slab of ribs, whole chicken, brisket and pork. It was a feast! We were five and had plenty leftover. The homemade sauces were delicious! The Kansas city sweet sauce was our favorite. The staff was very friendly. Kieffer, in particular, was extremely attentive. He provided great service. It was definitely worth our drive. We wish them great success and will definitely stop by again on our next trip to Orlando. Would love to have an Ellie Lou's in Miami!

I am heartbroken that this wonderful gem is located on the other side of the earth from me. I may be making more frequent trips to Ocoee now! Customer service here really knocked my socks off. The owner was super excited to tell us about the food and the beers they had on tap. He made sure to visit and tell us more about the sauces and recommended which to use depending on the meat we had ordered. He joked around and made us all feel right at home. I decided to go with the 2 meat meal since I was fairly hungry. Brisket makes or breaks a BBQ place to me so I decided to give it a shot here. I heard great things about the turkey so I ordered that as well. For my sides : 3 cheese mac n cheese and the beans. The brisket was heavenly. I've been an avid 4 Rivers fan since their brisket is so good but they've now been topped. GET THE BRISKET! The turkey was great and I love that it was cubed instead of sliced. Moist and went great with the Carolina bbq sauce. The mac and cheese and beans were also top notch. I could taste the tanginess of the 3 different cheeses. And the beans weren't cringingly sweet like most places tend to make them. AND THE GARLIC BREAD. So buttery and crispy. The owner gave us samples of the bleu cheese slaw. I'm not normally a slaw person but this one was tasty. I may try it on my next trip if I can break away from what I already know is divine. Writing this review made me hungry all over again. If you're nearby, just go to Ellie Lou's for my sake!

Delicious BBQ and great service! My husband and I were craving BBQ after spending a Saturday morning in Winter Garden and decided to stop by for lunch. I'm so happy that we did! We loved it so much that we went again this past weekend which was only two weeks after the first visit! You place your order at the counter and then the food is delivered to your table. The staff is very friendly and happy to help. I've tried the Texas cheesesteak, turkey, brisket, St. Louis ribs, 3 cheese mac, settler's beans, hand cut fries, blue cheese cole slaw, and garlic bread. The Texas cheesesteak has brisket, cheddar, jalapeños and onion straws. I love the brisket but I'm obsessed with the turkey! The mac is super duper rich! I found the ribs a little bit on the dry side but very meaty. The blue cheese slaw was very creamy and full of blue cheese chunks! The fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. I'm not a big fan of bbq beans but the settler's beans are really good. I loved the garlic bread so much I took some to go! I only wish that I didn't live so far from this place so I could go on a whim. Although the distance will not stop me from going back soon!

I have to say it. I wasn't expecting much from this place. My husband came in for a beer a few weeks ago and got suckered into the ribs. He has since then made it his mission to get me here. I was blown away from the moment I walked in. Everybody was friendly and it smelled wonderful. After checking out the menu thoroughly, I decided to have a signature sandwich; the Texas Cheesesteak. I went with a 3 cheese Mac for my side. I don't think I could have made a wrong choice, but this sandwich was excellent. Everything came out quickly and they even came by the table a few times to check on us. Danielle was awesome and even chatted with us a bit. We joined the loyalty club while we were there, so we'll definitely be coming back.

I arrived with a buddy of mine and we were traveling up from Miami, we noticed this place on Yelp and saw that its ratings were high. To no surprise the place lived up to its rating, this is hands down the best BBQ I have ever had. I know I'm not in St. Louis or Texas but it's damn good BBQ. The manager noticed we were trying to select a beer and he decided to have us try a few samples, he provided excellent customer service and made us feel very welcomed. I ordered the combo #3 with beans and slaw the food was ridiculously good and the craft beer was nice and cold . My only complaint is that it's not located closer to where I live. You won't be disappointed in this place. Excellent all the way!

Wow- will definitely be back! The Q42 was awesome- Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pork- so good! Seasoned perfectly, not too salty. Came with 4 sides; all were great too- Baked beans, Collared greens, Blue cheese coleslaw, Cheddar grits. Had a couple of micro-brews to complete the meal. If you like 4 Rivers, you'll love Ellie Lou's.

  • Shawn K.

I am a very critical f&b person...also big 4rivers fan, but just moved near here and the reviews were high. I don't always trust yelp reviews, but this time they are right. Totally exceeded my expectations. The smoked turkey is amazing. Expect a 20min wait to dine in during peak hours. It was also refreshing to feel like the employees cared! Put this place on your go to list. Oh yeah..$3 large tank 7 draft special didn't hurt!

  • LeeAnna A.

Absolutely the best BBQ I've had in a really long time. The owner was so amazingly welcoming and staff were attentive. If you know what southern hospitality is all about, then you will know what I'm talking about when you visit. I had the pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw... AMAZING!! Portion was just enough. We stopped in on a Sunday and enjoyed the Gospel Grits with pulled pork! There are no words....you just have to try it yourself. I'm a happy, happy customer. :)

Great brisket. ..place is always clean, and has a very gracious and friendly staff. Food comes out relatively quick and always hot....it's a must try if your in this area.

We're glad we stumbled upon this place! Food and service were excellent. I was undecided on a beer and they offered a sample which helped make a decision. All 4 sauces were tasty and the "Lava" hot sauce had good heat and flavor. I had the pork platter and a rib from my buddy. My wife had the turkey sandwich, all of which was delicious. A big bonus for me was the selection of beers that they had. All 9 people in our group loved the place and will definitely return.

    (5)
  • Kristin B.

Super quick delivery of food and it tastes great! Portion size was more than I could handle so leftovers will be great! The staff was friendly and super attentive as well. Nice to have a Sunday BBQ option since 4R is closed..... Maybe I'll go there during the week as well!!

  • Kevin W.

So first time here... Went for the Chopped Pork Sandwich and cole slaw. Added Baked beans as I love to eat them and sweet tea to wash it down. Well the Pork was excellent and so was the bread. Use the Memphis sauce and it had a nice soft kick to it and was awesome. Cole slaw was very good, not too much mayo and was a nice addition to the sandwich. But I will have to say the baked beans were exceptional! Multiple types of beans and had a great flavor to the whole thing..... made me wish I had just gotten a double order of them. Sweet tea was perfect not too much sugar but enough. I will come back again if I am in the area.

Fantastic. I love that they offer a mix of pulled turkey and chicken as someone who mostly eats only white meat. Plus, the variety of sauces is awesome! We'll be back!

We stopped here after a day of house hunting on the recommendation of our realtor. We make it a habit to let folks know when it's our first time so they can steer us toward their most popular items. Well, they not only made recommendations, they provided samples! The smoked turkey was so moist, I have a new level for the bar by which everything else (including the Thanksgiving bird!) is measured. The ribs were great and, though I loved trying the authentic regional sauces, my husband liked them naked. Their fried green tomatoes were fabulous and their collard greens, with some pepper vinegar added, rivals my own. The owner's son, a self proclaimed indentured servant to the restaurant, and his crew were welcoming and entertaining. We chatted with them off and on while we ate. I look forward to our next trip there and trying a few more of their sides as well as another helping of that turkey.

  • Christine C.

I can't begin to talk about how amazing the service here is. What I've had the pleasure of eating: their stuffed potatoes, all of the meats on their menu, most of their sides, and their new cornbreads when they came out. They've got ice cream floats, a decent draft selection, and I was their first sign-up for their new club which offers some great specials. Love their baked beans and their mac and cheese. Portions are huge, you'll definitely have left-overs. I highly highly recommend the baked potato for anyone who wants a smaller meal with a lot of flavor. Check out my photos, the food speaks for itself. The atmosphere is fun - with projected 'fire' on the walls and it's tucked into a quiet little shopping complex with a ton of parking. I'd definitely say this a Windermere hidden gem.

One of the better BBQ places out there. They throw out the whole has to be a dirty hole in the wall to be a good BBQ right out the window. Clean and nice decorated inviting place. The food selection is your typical BBQ but with added special selection of sandwich that one would never think of to have. One day have to try some of them. Surely if it's like their other food has to be pretty darn good. The great smokey taste of the brisket and tenderness of it. The pork wasn't greasy like you find a lot of pulled pork can be. The sides are pretty good too. Which is a blessing cause you find most BBQ places tend to let that aspect go to the waist side. My only complaint would have to be the beard. Small portion and over cooked. Just French bread really. Nothing amazing or mind blowing there. All and all great place to stop and get your BBQ on.

As good as the food was, the music was as bad...not a country music fan. Ribs- very good, had some sort of rub on them that we weren't in love with, but the taste was good. Meats (non-rib) all great Sides- all great, potato salad was the best Good variety of beer at decent prices If you like country music, this place will be paradise

Nice local barbecue place with lots of options. The ribs were super tender and fell off the bone. We really enjoyed the brisket as well. The servers are super attentive which is unexpected in a place like this. We also liked their sauces. They have lots of choices and all were flavorful. It's super busy here but the place has plenty of seating.

  • Michael E.

Been here twice now and both time the food and service have been outstanding. The brisket plate is delicious and I like the chopped bite size chunks of the brisket. The brisket sandwich comes with traditional slab cut of meat. Fried okra is seasoned very well. The Kansas City sweet was my favorite sauce. Service was outstanding. I Love 4Rivers and EllieLou's is right up there.

Thought the food was great! The portions are a little small so would recommend if you are really hungry to order a bit more than normal. The staff was nice and happy they are open on Sundays.

The food here is great! The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The people who work here are nice and friendly. Very casual, laid back, family friendly place. Did I mention the great bbq?

RIBS- love a dry rub with true BBQ sauce choices on your table. Tender fall off the bone good too. Wash your hands first as you will be lickn' em off gud. Their fried okra we were told (from a v. reliable source) is still in the "tweaking" stage of development. For me the twice dipped battered okra was a little too much battering. Come on, thick fried breadings are for people afraid they may taste okra! ; ) I found their romelade dipping sauce a good adder for all that bread'n. LOL! The fried green tomatoes were expertly breaded ; ) and a good crunchy. Again, their romelade dipping sauce was a plus. The collards are just RIGHT. Not sweetened or overly vinegary. A damn good 1st choice side!! Had a pinch of the pulled pork, and it is divine goodness too. Good pork flavor. Yeah, could taste pork- how about that!?? Bigarse 14 oz craft beer for $4 was a good value IMO. To top off the positive food experience we were having, the employees are some of the best ambassadors a restaurant could ask for. Sincerely friendly, genuine and perky. Kinda like the all the clever sayings posted all around the place. (Like: "Low cut blouses are looked down upon around here".) Loo review- five stars that also left me with a saying I'll not soon forget: "Changing the toilet tissue does NOT cause brain cancer". Okay, So I can easily be entertained at times! Give this one a try, just try and arrive after me!

This hidden gem is better than 4Rivers. The turkey and the green beans are amazing. Customer service is great, I've never had so many offers to refill my drink in my life. Also, my friend from Southern VA says the sweet tea is the closest to real VA sweet tea she's found in Florida, which is apparently important. Just go to here and eat all the things.

I love this place!! Awesome pulled pork, amazing baked beans, and don't get me started on the fried corn! Definitely worth checking out!!

Fantastic service coupled with mouth-wateringly delicious BBQ is what you get at Ellie Lou's. Order: fried green tomatoes, french fries, and a turkey sandwich. All three are quite possibly the best I've ever had. The food here is consistently great; the staff, beyond friendly. Highly recommended and vastly superior to 4 Rivers.

Born and raised in Orlando, bbq is our thing. As a fan of other bbq places close by, we heard rave reviews on Ellie Lou's. Let's just say it did not disappoint. The pork sandwich and blue cheese slaw with fries was mouth watering. Highly recommended to go before everyone in Orlando finds out.

We are currently having an event at work and Ellie Lou's had their food truck on site for two days. LET ME TELL YOU... By far one of the best BBQ I had in my life. I ordered the wet sandwich and asked for coleslaw on top. When I took a bite, it was messy, packed with flavor, and moist... Just like how a good bbq sandwich should be. The staff was friendly and everything was promptly prepared... A+ for me!

Ellie Lou's BBQ is AMAZING! Hubby and I really enjoyed the food, flavor, service, location, and the family feel!!! Terrific flavor in absolutely everything we ordered in the Q for 2 menu item; pulled pork, chicken, brisket, ribs, (double order) garlic bread, mac and cheese, and green beans. The caramel salted cheesecake was OUT OF THIS WORLD! We have tried the other well known BBQ places, but hands down, Ellie Lou's is the BEST! We will definitely be going on a regular basis AND bringing family and friends to share the Best BBQ in Orlando! The staff of hard working team members was an added bonus. Not only was each person gracious and hospitable, but also genuinely interested in doing their best. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and comfortable. We even struck up a genuine conversation with people sitting nearby. Ellie Lou's was like having BBQ at a friends home, meeting new people, filling up on lip smacking good food, and priced appropriately. It is also very clean. No sloppy tables or sticky bottles that are prevalent in other BBQ houses. Plus, Ellie Lou's is open on Sunday! We'll be going back next Saturday for sure!

I had the pulled pork platter with collards and potato salad and coleslaw. -- hands down THE BEST. I have ever had!- not overly seasoned I cld taste the actual food and it was high quality! Unbelievably good!!!

Great food and a nice selection of beers. The only complaint...... Gad!!! Get rid of the awful country music!

Well my first time here and the place is out of ribs! How in the name of humanity is a BBQ place out of ribs! Needless to say I will never be back to this place. They also still charged us instead on giving us the meal for free! Horrible service! Highly not recommended!

This was our first time to Ellie Lou's. It had been recommended to us by a couple of friends. Very cool menu. I had the Fried Green BLT. It was delicious! I tried all of their sauces and all of them were tasty, but Southern Lava was definitely my favorite. Just as good as the food was the service. Even though you order when you walk in and then you seat yourself and it's brought out to you, it's still practically full service. We were offered drink refills and checked on, but it wasn't intrusive. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. Even though we love Harry & Larry's and 4 Rivers, we will absolutely be back.

Great family stop. Excellent smoky taste and I would highly recommend the Kansas City sauce. The smoked sausage and pulled pork are great. The service is also great

We've been coming here with my girlfriend. Everything was good at the beginning of the trips. I always order the brisket platter with two sides. Last time I came a I had a problem with fried corn which was cold not even warm but the owners son helped us out and got it fixed. Today we came ordered the same thing with sides of grits and mac cheese with a side order of jalapeño corn breads. Cold stuff again. Brisket was cold like I could feel the fat plate in my mouth and corn bread was cold also which didn't even melt the butter. Anyway owner has to be here or at least be on the stuff going on for a local business to grow bigger otherwise they ll have to close down. I will come back one more time to see if I'll have anything cold again. I'll update then.

A great selection of really good bbq (beef, chicken, pork, turkey) reasonably priced in west Orlando. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there's a small but good selection of craft beer.

What a great local gem in West Orange County. Dare I say it's just as good, if not better as some very well known local competition with a "4" in it's name. Not to mention that is open on SUNDAY, which is great when you need your fix. I'm always partial to the Pork & Bleu -- pulled pork with their delicious bleu cheese cole slaw on top. My favorite side is the 4 cheese Mac & Cheese. Went today for the first time on a Sunday, and loved their special "Gospel Grits"... Great place for couples or families. Good beer selection as well!

I've tried this place once and it was pretty good I think I would give it a 3rd place slot behind 4 Rivers and Bubbalous. I had the pulled pork, it was tender, moist and flavorful. I didn't care for the beans but after doctoring them up at the table with some sugar and BBQ sauce they were edible. The country decor is very unique with flames projected on one wall and tin siding adorns the lower half of the walls, I liked it a lot. Service was great and food came out pretty fast.

Fabulous BBQ! I've eaten here numerous times and the food is always excellent. My last order was for pick up. The wait time was 20 min. I showed up 25 min. Later and still had to wait another 10. Other than that, the food has been wonderful.

This place is really quite excellent. Don't miss the Ribs or pulled pork!! And for side you need to get cheese grits (OMG), Beans, greens, and the fries!!! Or just order everything as nothing I had was less than stellar.

  • Shelly G.

Don't be intimidated by the chalkboard menu or the counter ordering instead of waitress service...the food here is insanely good! Top notch apps include the fried green tomatoes and nachos ( we got the dry with chicken & turkey). Service was quick, good craft beer selection, and very friendly staff. Skip the chains and step outside the box for an amazing experience! Oh- and the stuffed baked potato was on steroids-you could literally feed a family of 3 on this thing!

Awesome place... stumbled upon this place driving around looking for somewhere to eat about 11am on Sunday morning. Originally we were going to try "that one spot" after waiting 30 min for them to open a couple guys came out to smoke in from of the store amd one guy was wearing a tank top and to think of they prepped our food wearing that I kinda lost my appetite. So we left and went further down Maguire and found this place. Upon walking in the atmosphere was great and I loved the Tim Mcgraw songs that played back to back as we talked to the cashier. The place was very elaborate in its decor and it loomed great as I remembered it once was an American Pie restaurant. The cashier was great in explaining all different types of foods. And she especially was awesome in helping me choose out a draft beer and giving a couple samples. I ended up getting BBQ chicken and a side of Bleu cheese coleslaw and garlic bread. I thought it was a small portion but it did the job and I can certainly eat!!! Overall ot was a great experience and def will be back to try the Texas Philly or that Memphis Bird!!

Great place. Terrific made from scratch food. Very clean, hospitable restaurants. A well experienced owner who truly cares that you have an experience to remember. Go for the food once and you will be looking forward to a return trip.

Great service and food here. The pulled pork is as good as I've found in the area. We have tried several of the side and have been happy every time. The mac n cheese, potato salad and beans are my go to every time!

OMG , from the minute we could smell the BBQ walking in we were smitten. Starting with the energy, friendly attitude and service at the counter we ordered hand battered okra and fried green tomatoes, the, family platter with , RIBS,CHICKEN, PORK, roasted corn, garlic toast, BBQ sauces on the table to keep your lips wet and your flavor palet more than satisfied. We are non drinkers but the ROOT BEER is worth the trip alone. Can't say there was room for dessert but some how we couldn't resist salted Carmel cheesecake, OMG I'm going to explode with the biggest smile on my face. We will be back or more. And ps. Crushed ice ROCKS

  • Carina S.

Went again! Place was still very good. I had the combo platter with pulled pork and brisket. The brisket is better than 4 rivers. The mac&cheese and beans were really good. My son had the grilled cheese and coleslaw. Both were good. My husband had 2 sandwiches and enjoyed both. He was not a fan of the potato salad but the owner was very responsive and changed out for mac&cheese. I wish this place was not in Ocoee-will live in Longwood! I guess you travel for good BBQ!

  • Peter D.

This is by far my most favorite place to have a guys night out. Brews AND BBQ are you kidding me? The only thing that could make this place better is half naked chicks wrestling in a tub of bacon grease. Hmmmm maybe the owner could arrange that? There are some unique things on the menu like homemade root beer and ice cream floats. The BBQ in the joint is delish. There is an unbelievable selection of cooked meats done just right. The portions are huge so you will leave there with your belly full and happy.

First time trying a new BBQ place in 4 Rivers country and it had some hits and misses. HITS - Open on Sunday, great sauces, one of the best potato salads I've ever had and excellent service. MISSES - portion size was on the small side, they ran out of sausage early in the day, only 2 sides with a combo, the ribs were lackluster and the desserts do not look tempting. I still think it's a good place but needs to tweak some essential items and focus. If you are going against the Goliath of 4 Rivers then you have to match them on portion size and offerings. Your meats need to show some technique, i.e. pork should be offered in pulled, sliced, chopped and brisket needs to be always on point. Also your sides need to match as well and shouldn't have a 21 cent up charge which just looks odd, just have all sides be $2 and save the menu space. Ellie Lou's is definitely worth a try but don't expect 4 Rivers.

I love Ellie Lou's! Its an extremely convenient location; I've never gone inside to sit down and eat but have called to pick up about 5 or 6 times. They are quick and usually have my food ready when I get there. Once I ordered inside instead of calling ahead and waited about 15 minutes and they gave me a free drink. The pulled pork sandwich on texas toast with fries is THE BEST. I actually haven't gotten past it to order anything else! But everyone I've ordered with has always loved their meals as well. Only complaint, they are a little stingy with the BBQ sauce when ordering to-go. It's my favorite, and even when I ask for extra there is never enough!

  • Brittany C.

Poor service. Wrung order in wrong Came on a whim hoping it would be better than four rivers....psych! It was very average nothing standout or special. Started with friend green tomatoes average.... There BBQ sauces where good though. Then we had sliders and baked beans, blue cheese coleslaw and Mac and cheese all very basic. Wouldn't come back again. The meats are nothing special and chicken was dry.

  • Crystal S.

The food at Ellie Lou's was excellent! I had the pork with beans & mac n cheese, and also sampled the fries and cheddar grits. The mac n cheese is easily the best I've ever eaten at a restaurant, and I don't normally care for grits, however these were delicious! There was a variety of sauces on table, my favorite was the sweet, and the spicy had a good heat to it. I was hoping to try the apple cobbler for dessert, but was stuffed after my excellent lunch. That just means I'll have to come back soon!

  • Jason H.

The chicken and turkey are perfect. Good flavor and moist. The pork and beef were a little lacking in flavor and dry but not bad. Their ribs are excellent. Lots of meat and great flavor. The founders beans were also very good with lots of flavor and meat in them. Mac and cheese was a winner also.

  • Danielle O.

The only reason why I marked them down from 5 stars is because I don't like a few of the sides. Only get the okra, corn, green beans or sweet potato fries. Otherwise the BBQ is so great. Falls off the bone. I love the KC and Carolina sauce. I live in Atlanta but come down to Florida for work. I always stop for good food.

I live near here and after driving by it one too many times I decided to stop in. When I walked in I was greeted immediately. After informing them it was my first time they offered me numerous samples. I tried the Kansas City Wet, Mac and Cheese, Smoked Turkey and Blue Cheese Coleslaw. They were all delicious. I decided on the Kansas City Wet and a side of Mac and cheese and it was incredible. The portion size was large, the pork and brisket were juicy and falling apart. The Sweet BBQ sauce was a bit too sweet for me so I added some Memphis sauce from the table. The macaroni and cheese was top notch. VERY rich and cheesy. The side isn't very big, but definitely the right amount. The restaurant is clean and the staff is courteous. Even after I ordered a Coke and noticed they have Eli's root beer on tap - they offered to exchange it for me. The tables have four different BBQ sauces to try. The Carolina Gold, Memphis, Southern Lava (Hot), and Kansas City (Sweet). They are all solid. My only complaint is the Brews portion. With only four beers on tap, there isn't much of a selection. They seemed to have something for everyone though, with Left Hand Milk Stout, Oberon, Yuengling, and one other craft beer I forgot. There might have been more in bottles or cans but I didn't see any. It's not a beer parlor though, and the offerings are good enough to have alongside your meal. In Orlando it seems that every BBQ place is compared to 4Rivers. While I enjoy 4Rivers but I have always felt it was a bit overrated and always over crowded. I now have an alternative place to recommend. Elle Lou's BBQ blows it out of the water with their food and atmosphere. I'll be back soon.

Saturday night, and I was in the mood for BBQ--and not in the mood for cooking. My husband and I decided to call in a take-out order at Ellie Lou's. The person who took my order was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. After requesting one of their take-out specials with an add-on of another kind of meat, I was shocked when they informed me my order would be ready in 10 minutes. After seeing the food in the takeout containers, I was a little worried we hadn't ordered enough to feed us and our guest. But man, my eyes were way bigger than my stomach. We ate all we wanted, and boy, were we happy. The smoked beef was exceptional. The crust was beautiful, and it was moist and flavorful. But the turkey! Holy cow!!! That smoked turkey is the best turkey I have ever eaten. I was legitimately upset when we finished the side portion we ordered. I will go back just for the turkey. I didn't love the green beans, but the Mac and cheese was respectable. Honestly, though, everything paled in comparison to the turkey.

Amazing food. I love barbecue and this place has captured my heart. Friendly staff and wonderful food. The barbecue chicken is a classic. The sides, particularly the collard greens, are close to perfection. If you love great barbecue (who doesn't) try out this awesome place. Very affordable.

For a little strip mall, hole in the wall spot, Ellie Lou's serves some pretty good barbecue! At first we were a little out off by the walk up ordering, a la your typical fast food joint. Our trepidation was overcome by the service and the quality of the food. The pork is chopped, not pulled, so you get nice juicy junks of pork. My quarter chicken was tender and tasty. It Was fall off the bone tender. The sides are good, especially the beans. They're a little spicy, which I love! There are 4 sauces to choose from-the sweet is my fave, because it's sweet AND spicy. The faint of heart should avoid the Southern Lava...it is as hot as the name implies. Drinks are refilled quickly, the atmosphere is nice, and the food is pretty good. Give Ellie Lou's a shot!

Fantastic. I was surprised that another BBQ place would open in the same shopping center as Red Eye but I am glad they did. Went Tuesday for the first time and for the 4 meat platter to go. Phenomenal. Took my parents and my family tonight...just as good. Everyone loved their meal. Beer choices are also great. Big fan of the ribs and brisket. Spicy sauce is also great.

Great BBQ - friendly quick service - cute place. I had the chopped pork sandwich and the pork was tender and plentiful. The pieces were a bit big, so some fell out of the bun. Fries were fresh and handcut. Greens are good as well as the sauces on the table. Very attentive staff and quick service for our group of seven will mean we'll be coming back. Couple orders were missing things but quickly fixed, probably due to being new and working out the kinks.

Unique southern food. I'm gluten intolerant and happy stomach the day after! Lee is a fantastic manager. Detailed allergen information. Nice outdoor outside seating (high stools, wish they'd bring it down a bit) Oh not to mention it tastes great perhaps the most relevant part!

  • Jason F.

Great food, fantastic service! Had the Kansas city wet sandwich with fries and sweet tea.... One of the best bbq sandwiches I've had! Even living next to 4 Rivers. Staff checked on me a couple of times to make sure all was good!! Great place!

  • Greg K.

Only had their half chicken, but it was great. Smokey and well cooked on the outside, tender and juicy inside. Sauces were delicious and if it's not a perfect match for your pallet just tweak it by mixing. Chicken here is much better than 4 Rivers (which does everything else pretty well) and better than Bubbalou's. Only weird thing was that it comes in a tin plate with a thin paper in the bottom. Once you hit it with sauce, a knife and fork it just needs to be pushed aside. Enjoyed it!!! Great yard bird!

I like most BBQ. Some doesn't have a real wood smoke taste. Ellie Lou's BBQ pork is outstanding. I had their platter tonight with fried okra and country style green Beans. Now I have to tell you, not only is the BBQ awesome, the green beans are just like momma used to make on the old cook stove! They were truly the desert! Atmosphere is family style and the staff is super helpful and courteous. Will repeat. Often.

Bottom line - A welcome new addition to the local barbecue scene. The pickings for barbecue are slim here in Central Florida, so seeing a new spot raised my curiosity. Ellie Lou's met pretty much all of my requirements for trying out a new restaurant. Random location in an area that I never travel? Check. Never heard of it? Check. No one I know has ever heard it? Check. Everyone looks at me funny and asks how do you find/hear about these random places in random locations? Check. And most importantly, good reviews from random people I don't know and will never meet, but for some reason I still trust their advice on where I should eat, shop, receive medical treatment, etc? Check. With that in my mind and after a few minutes of coaxing, the lady and I headed out to Ocoee for what ended up being some of the best BBQ I have had since leaving Kansas City. Although located in a strip mall, you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into the place as soon as you walk into the place. The overall restaurant is very nice and a bit upscale for a BBQ joint, but still maintains a down home kind of feel. That is mainly because of the excellent staff and the owner who are all very attentive and welcoming. Our cups were never empty and the staff was all smiles even though the place was pretty packed. Then there was the food. There literally wasn't a thing we tried that didn't taste good. The chopped pork was pretty much perfect. The meat was tender and not tough at all. You truly could eat it without any sauce. The ribs were just as good if not better thanks to a "secret" ingredient that gives them a little bit more flavor. Perfectly prepared and again, very tender, we really didn't need any sauce on those either. However, since they have four sauces to choose from, I have to give each a whirl. And, you guessed it, they were also good and pretty darn authentic given that they were designed based on different styles of Barbecue (Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City, Southern aka hot). They offer a number of sides, but my favorites were the potato salad and beans. Ellie Lou's has only been in business for a few weeks, but with food and service like this they should be around for a while. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a good meal and trying to support a promising local business. Highly recommended.

After many trips to Ellie Lou's my love for their food has only increased. Their sausage is amazing, they added more desserts they MAKE THEIR OWN ROOT BEER TOO! I've had nearly every item on the menu at least once and they are solid all around. Also I said this in my original review, but must emphasize their level of customer service is outstanding. They are so on top of things and work hard to see that everyone is satisfied and taken care of. If you haven't, give them a shot! You won't be disappointed!

I have to say Elli Lou's was a great experience. The service was fast and friendly and the food...let's just say this place won't have any problems staying busy. I'm so happy to see a place here in Orlando that cares as much about its overall taste of sides in addition to the awesome meats. The variety of sauces were a great addition. We are instant fans. I had the chopped pork sandwich which was very large chunks of tender pork (much better because pulled pork tends to get mushy), settler's beans (pork and beans/kidney beans), and fries. So good!! I topped it off with Kansas BBQ (sweet) and the Carolina (vinegar based). I washed it down with good ole sweet tea...full again just thinking about it. My boyfriend had the full slab (dry rub) and instantly you can taste a hint of sweetness...I'll leave it up to the owner to tell you the "secret ingredient". Potato salad taste just like homeade! I was shocked how good it was. It's like they were looking over my mom's shoulders while she made her potatoe salad. The mac n cheese was also delicious.

We live in downtown Orlando and we've now visited 3 times. We've sampled all of the meats and it's so hard to choose a favorite. The ribs are so good, I didn't even need sauce, they just melt in your mouth! And the cheese grits a must, as they are so creamy. While you're waiting, the fried green tomatoes are an excellent choice, as well as the nice twist on nachos, BBQ style. The staff is so friendly and so very attentive. You are never without anything. No one in town does BBQ as good as Ellie Lou's - Best BBQ in the Orlando area! The only fault I see is that it is not closer to downtown Orlando!

Consistently great food. Try the fried green tomato BLT! I go here about once a week! I like that unlike some other local BBQ places, they are not overly salty. Worth a try!

Love their food! Service is awesome, though the ordering process is a little slow. It's much better than it used to be though, and is improving.

Best BBQ in the area. The BBQ is better than 4 Rivers (as they don't drown their food in salt) and they serve beer/wine! The smoked turkey is not dry! Very good wine selection for a decent price. Good dine-in atmosphere - kid friendly and interior is contemporary design. Staff is very friendly, fast, and competent! Wish they stayed open a little later on Friday/Saturday evenings!

You can tell a lot of thought was put into the menu and the flavors/food at this restaurant. Leigh Doyle (the man who "approves the brews"at Ellie Lou's) is the consummate host and the restaurant is smartly laid out. The decor makes Ellie Lou's feel very comfortable and really shows the detail put into every aspect of this restaurant. I had the Kansas City Wet and it was amazing. I paired it with the fried corn and baked beans to make an amazing meal. I rounded it out with a great draft beer from one of their many taps. I understand they also do take out! Ellie Lou's was an amazing experience and I will be back again, for lunch and dinner!!

Did we have the same q as the rest of you folks? Do you have stock in this place? Are you family or friends? You're doing a disservice to the establishment by knocking the competition down the road while touting how great this place is. 4 rivers it is not. Came here on a Sunday since the aforementioned was closed and had a rumble in my tummy for some good q. We were disappointed to say the least. Pork was flavorless and dry, and while the ribs were tender, they were devoid of flavor. Not even a slather of all their different sauces could help these guys. Don't even get me started on the blue cheese Cole slaw, which tasted like yogurt that'd been left in the Florida Sun for days. Service was hospitable, but not worth the effort, even on Sunday.

I don't understand how anyone can prefer 4Rivers to this place. 4Rivers was really not very good. Maybe it was because I did take out, but I heard such rave reviews and was utterly disappointed. The flavors were just off. Literally no one in my family (whom all have very different tastes by the way) enjoyed 4R...no one came close to eating more than a few bites. Thank GOD we went to a food truck event where Ellie Lou's was. That night, it was the best BBQ I've ever had. I found out where their restaurant was and have been there several times - with my family, friends, and extended family members. Everyone has loved it. Their KC Wet is the best sandwich I've had. Their cheese grits are awesome. Their fried green tomatoes with the remoulade sauce is awesome. My wife thought their sweet potato fries were the best ever. Their sauces are great. Etc. etc. This is my BBQ spot now..hands down. No need to even look further. Everyone mentioned the great staff and they are right - the staff is one of the best. But, even if their staff was horrible, this would still be my BBQ spot. The food is that good. I am glad I am not alone in loving this pace. I need it to stay around forever.

Excellent and authentic BBQ! Hard pressed to find BBQ better than Ellie Lou's anywhe're else! Very clean and the atmosphere is casually pleasant. Will definitely frequent this restaurant again even though I live near UCF! Worth the drive!

My husband and I popped in tonight after passing by many times on our nightly walk...boy am I mad we waited so long to try this place! It was hard to choose, everything on the menu sounds great. He had the Kansas City Wet and I had the Pork and Bleu. Both sandwiches were outstanding; flavorful and smoky meat and the sauces are so different and tasty! Between the two of us we sampled the collards, Mac & cheese, beans and coleslaw. Every side was fresh and delicious! I also have to compliment the staff. Every person we encountered from the moment we walked in was so friendly and accommodating! We were checked on at our table very often, which surprised me given the quick-service vibe. Our drinks were refilled whenever we wanted (free refills! Even on the root beer tap!) and we were met with smiles until the moment we walked out the door. Great experience and we can't wait to go back :)

Brought the whole family (9) for BBQ, Ellie Lou's always delivers! Two salads, yeah salads! The Cobb salads with the pork on top is awesome. 2 BBQ pork platters, loaded with meat with two sides is a great meal, at a great value! The KC Wet sandwich is consistent and always has lean meat on it. The Texas Cheesesteak was loaded with meat, and came a side. Side note, their fries are awesome, especially when a little crispy. Special note is their customer service, it's outstanding. You order at a counter when you enter, but never have to leave you table after that. Refills, extras, dirty plates, all taken of for you. So for forget to tip when you pay for your meal! We don't always eat BBQ out, but when we do, it's Ellie Lou's! Ps... They have a draft beer happy hour!

Great decor and concept! Had the combo platter in order to try 3 types of meat and BBQ style. Real oak smoked flavor, ribs and chopped pork = outstanding, smoked Memphis chicken = best ever had! Baked beans like no other! Service was quick and friendly while sitting in a fun atmosphere. Most definitely will be back!

Great atmosphere, great service..I like the dry rub and the sauce madness you can put on them at your table (Sweet for me) simple menu..Texas cheesesteak was great and yes the kids grilled cheese is big! Much rather come here than having to stand in line at that 4R place and then wait for a table to sit at NO thanks.. They have sausage!!! It's good!!PS yes that 4R has desserts but that's probably cause they did not give you enough food to fill you up!! Here you don't need it cause they give you more for your money ;-) *"the Ribanator says I'll Be back""" Thanks again for always being awesome !!!

Phenomenal! We went as a group of 8 and everyone was raving! I had the ribs- loved them! Fall off the bone, tried several sauces - just amazing. Sampled the turducken - what a unique, tasty sandwich! I had the fries and cheddar grits but tasted the fried corn and mac&cheese- all were excellent! When the word gets out, this little gem will be everyone's go to BBQ!

Heard about this place from neighbor who also knows good BBQ. He was right on the money with his recommendation. Had the bbq pork platter with coleslaw and fried Okra. BBQ pork was chopped medium and served hot. Had great flavor and just the right amount of smoke flavors. Preferred the Carolina Gold sauce which is both vinegar and mustard based and was very good. Coleslaw was among the best I have had but I really wanted a larger portion than was served. French fries were hot and crispy just like we like them and very good. Collards were fantastic although we prefer them chopped a bit finer than they were served but flavor was right on the money but again serving size was smaller than I expected. Service was very prompt and friendly. Wanted to give it 5 stars but the small side serving sizes dinged it a bit. Looking forward to returns to try the Mac and Cheese, cheese grits and desserts.

Well... I heard from a neighbor that this place was better than 4Rivers. I am a Texas Girl living in Central Florida so I HAD to try it out. We did take-out on a Friday night. My son picked up the food and said the place was crazy. As I did not see the restaurant myself I will limit my review to just the food. The beef (brisket) was not sliced but came kind of chunked which I though was weird and it was unfortunately dry. We wanted to try the sausage and the pork (also kind of chunked) and were somewhat disappointed in both of those as well. Everything seemed dry and maybe it was prepared much earlier for a busy weekend evening. My daughter had the kids chicken which was a quarter chicken (thigh and leg) and it was, by far, the best meat we got. It had very nice flavor and was not dry at all. The sides were pretty good. We tried the fries, mac n'cheese, Settlers beans, fried okra and green beans. My son and I both like spice and we enjoyed the variety of sauces that he brought home to try but, overall, this experience was just OK. I would probably give it another try if we were over that direction hoping that we just caught them on a bad night. We do, however, live right smack in between Ellie Lou's and 4Rivers so I can tell you we will definitely not pick Ellie Lou's over 4Rivers again!

Definitely becoming one of my favorite BBQ restaurants. I had hoped for pulled pork, but the cashier told me to give the chopped pork a try. She was right, it was much better than expected. Fries were wonderful. Kids' chicken legs/breast were good, but not as juicy as I would have liked. Mac-n-cheese is pretty good, but a little too much cheese sauce (didn't realize that was possible!), but not bad. Baked beans have meat in them (pork?), which is different, but tasty. Green beans were pretty good, too. Service is great. They come by to refill drinks, which is definitely something the competition does not do and is a nice touch. I'm still a fan of 4Rivers, but I'd say the pork is just as good at Ellie Lou's, if not better! We've been to Ellie Lou's three times since it opened and will be back again! My husband definitely prefers it to 4 Rivers!

AMAZING barbecue! Try the bacon as it is out of this world and know that a pork sandwich form this fine establishment may ruin you for pork sandwiches anywhere else for some time. Excellent service and great atmosphere... rating= 6/5

My kids and husband had gone to this restaurant without me before and wanted me to experience it, saying that it was excellent. Being hard to please with BBQ, I had neutral expectations. However, I went last night and it was definitely some of the best BBQ that I've ever had, if not THE best! It was not overrated and exceeded my expectations! Nice casual atmosphere, fairly quick food preparation, and good value for delicious food. I had the Pork and Bleu sandwich (pulled pork with blue cheese coleslaw), with their sweet BBQ sauce, it was perfect. Good quality meat, not the mushy sauce laden shredded pork I've so often had at other places. Ellie Lou's is my new favorite BBQ place hands down.

Mmm...so glad this new restaurant popped up on Yelp tonight. The food was great and the service was even better. They close at 8:00 during the week, but welcomed us at 7:50 with a smile and served other patrons arriving after 8. You order at the counter and they deliver the food. The waitress refilled our drinks and stopped by more times than I typically experience with full table service. We will definitely return.

Great atmosphere, great food, great prices and I gotta say its nice to have a BBQ joint that puts as much effort in their side dishes as they do their meats.

We really enjoyed Ellie Lou's. The fried green tomatoes were great, and came with a delicious chutney. My girlfriend had the cheese steak, the meat was juicy and tender. I had the pork and beef platter and thought they both had great flavor. All 4 BBQ sauces at the table offered a unique taste. The staff was helpful, friendly and attentive. The one knock would be that the portions were on the small side. We will definitely be returning.

Amazing food and amazing service! Pork Sandwich with their Kansas City sauce ontop is to die for. Also stopped by Sunday, tried their "Gospel Grits" and WOW! Those were the best grits I think I have ever had! Just stop in and try them you will not be dissapointed. Compared to 4 Rivers it exceeded my expectation, will defintley be back. Would much rather eat here then stand in line for 30 mins at 4 Rivers! I will for sure be back to try the rest of their amazing menu.

I live in Longwood and I bypassed two barbecue places; four rivers and babbalou's. The food at Ellie Lou's is great and worth the trip. You gotta eat here!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
