This morning at the pool I overheard people talking about delicious Italian food at reasonable prices at Bob's. I immediately googled the restaurant and decided we needed to try it. I'm so glad we did. The restaurant looks like a strip mall pizza take out store front, but it's completely different inside. It was a warm family atmosphere with live music. Our waitress, Savannah, was very attentive and patient with my gluten free questions. Sadly, they didn't have gluten free pasta, but she steered me towards the very tasty mussels fradiavlo which were nice and spicy with a rich garlicky tomato sauce. I could have eaten a bowl of it. My mother-in-law loved the lasagna, which she commented had a rich delicious sauce and my husband enjoyed Big Bob's Pasta Combo, for a taste of everything. It was well worth the 15 minute wait for a table. It was nice to be able to share our compliments with the owner who stopped by our table. We will definitely go back for more.
Some what dismayed, I read the reviews, I thought the pizza would rock. Or perhaps I ordered the wrong pizza. I ordered the stuffed pizza, and it's devoid of flavor. It was just slightly better then ugh. Everything from hot chicken wings to the pizza was just plain, nothing jumped out at me. Not saying that Big Bobs is a total loss, but I wouldn't order the stuffed pizza again.
We moved here about two years ago. We had pizza 2 or 3 times a month. It has usually been pretty good and good service. The last timed we ordered the pizza it was soggy and cold. We live 25 min away so we didn't want to drive back. We called the restraunt Explained the problem and we were given a credit for our next pizza. We called in today to use our credit and we're told we already used. They called the owner and he said he crossed it off because our pizza couldn't have been soggy. We'll it's very poor business management and all for a 12 dollar pizza. Sorry we wont be back there again.. beware if you're unhappy with something they.might call you a liar too.

Have eaten breakfast here for years. Their omelette are good and portions are filling. Nothing to particularly rave about. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Don't like their bacon though.
mmmmm biscuits and gravy very good gravy good spice level monstrous sized biscuits good chicken fried steak as well despite what others are saying we didn't have difficulty in being seated the building is a quaint old structure would love to come back to explore the menu further
The Diner has been feedin' me and some of my friends for years and years. We just call it The Diner--it's a place where locals see each other: I have sent my business to locals who eat at the diner, because it's a community there--right? Every now and then, I meet friends at The Diner who are always amazed at the generous portions. It's unpretentious food, and it says so: Home Cookin'. Nonetheless, for awhile I had a steady hankering for Eggs Benedict; I kept askin for it, and now it's on the weekend menu. How much better can it get than that? i do remember the year of the Five Big Storms in the space of some six weeks. The first time, i was without powere for about nine days. After a few days, we were sittin' in The Diner and it was so wonderful to have simple hot food. Another year, I broke the bone in my heel and was on crutches for months. Everyone was so kind to me at The Diner--no one grumbled when one of the Lovely Ladies of the Serving staff waited with full arms of food while I shuffled my crutches through the intimate dining room. I got to see the inherent kindness of the owner, John, and of all sorts of folks who are regulars at The Diner. People in town make fun of us Forest people, but The Diner shows what a true community establishment is--a place where everyone knows your name and folks are ready to laugh at your jokes. I have seen a couple of local babies turn into big kids over the years, and it's always great to catch up with folks when we all know how life can get so busy. I have seen the local trail riders tie their horses to trees and come in for lunch before they head out to ride the levee. I have seen groups of folks who take their weekend motorcycle rides have The Diner as their meet-up place. I have eaten at the diner in business attire, in riding clothes, in cut-off shorts after a morning's hard work--every time there's always a welcome and steady quality of food. I will always hold The Diner (Eddie and Rena, Sue-Sue,Donna, Sherri, Rose,John and Debbie) forever as pillars of our community

Went on a Tuesday for the Lobster Boil for 2. It was fantastic. For $44 you get 2 whole lobsters, crab legs, mussels, clams, potatoes, corn on the cob, and cole slaw. We also had someone in our party get the prime rib and it was delicious as well. Nightly beer specials for 99cents. Seating area is limited, but well worth any wait.
Had a great meal. Four of us had steak and lobster. The steak was very flavorful and the lobster was succulent, as good as I ever had in New England.
Alfie's Tavern 11677 E Hwy 25 Ocklawaha, FL 32179 (352) 288-9771 Amazing, I have read bad reviews and good reviews on Alfie's and have heard from several folks as late as today they enjoyed their meal at Alfie's last night, so not sure why some folks love it and some folks hate it? Different cooks, different wait folks, different phases of the moon, snow birds, locals, guest, visitors, the fact we are all different and from different food back grounds...not sure...will go check Alfie's and see for my self...stay tuned.
