This is my favorite Starbucks in Gainesville. I like how large the space is and how many windows there are. The entire front of the store is a rounded windowed facade. It's beautiful, and the view is of a lovely outdoor seating area and an old golf course beyond that. There's always parking (a unique thing for Starbucks in this town), but I suppose the trade off is that your 7 miles away from everything else. This is also a great location to cycle to if you take 20th/24th from Gainesville out to 122nd and that up to Newberry Rd. The staff is friendly, though some of the male employees can be painfully slow in the late morning if I'm in a rush to get from the gym back to campus and crap some coffee on the way. The combination of GHFC and Starbucks in the same plaza is this girl's dream come true! The food and drink, exactly what you would expect from Starbucks. My regular drink is an iced coffee (no milk!), but I'll get the occasional caramel macchiatto. In the morning, for a bit to eat, I like the veggie and monterey jack artisan sandwich. In the afternoon, the new sesame noodle bistro box has become my favorite. For sweets, there are those darn vanilla bean scones. Deadly. I definitely appreciate the corporation's attention to their vegetarian customers. You can probably find me here working on my dissertation or taking a break between group fitness classes at the gym on Saturdays! But, watch out; seats go fast on Saturday morning.
Great location just off main drag of Newberry. In a hip, newer area strip mall with other eateries, workout fitness places, doctors, etc This Starbucks is now my favorite in the area. Contrary to the others, it's spacious with plenty of parking and seating varieties. You can choose open outdoor to a counter or leather chairs complete with a leather pillow. Just hope it's pleather as I don't like use of animal skins... Please read this Starbucks? Go vegan at least to start with your furniture? Staff has a "can do " attitude when I asked for gluten free sandwich.,, just take out the bread before you heat up. Not really rocket science but it throws them off. When in Gator country, you can find be here!
I mean...how can you go wrong at Starbucks?! They keep me going for work. Having a bad day...get a coffee to brighten your day! Good day...get a coffee to keep the beat going throughout the day! Cold out...hot coffee! Warm out...iced coffee! It's a win-win no matter how you spin it! (Please excuse any biased reviews here, I have a serious coffee/espresso/tea addiction)!

The decor left a lot to be desired but the food was pretty tasty and authentic. I got two tacos and rice with beans. They also gave us complimentary chips and salsa which was appreciated. I was visiting from Gainesville so it wasn't super convenient but I would try it again if I was ever in the area.
New place so probably just learning the ropes. i'll try again for a 2nd time
I was glad to see this place open recently. I decided to try them out. I was pleasantly surprised. The food is good, more like home made. I got the combo plate of 2 Tacos. Rice beans chips salsa & a drink for $6.99. Prices are reasonable and the people are nice. It's a family owned business & they fixed up a old building pretty nice. It's got a sort of down home casual feel. I recommend them if you want more authentic Mexican food. They strive to achieve that. And I see they are pretty popular with the locals. The decor is from Mexico. It's a nice little place with good food & service. :-)

While it may not have the name recognition of Satchel's or Blue Highway, what this strip mall Italian/Pizza cafe does have is the best by the slice NEw York style pizza in the Gainesville area... and it's not close. The bianca is my personal favorite. The rest of the menu is the expected Italian standards. The fettuccine is solid, the eggplant parm is delicious. Service here is outstanding. They are quick to bring refills and check on your satisfaction.
Every time we come here the service is consistently solid, food has never been disspointing in any way, and we are honestly addicted. This restaurant has some of the best service and Italian I've had in Florida. I'm a "Calzone Whore". I love them. This restaurant has some of the freshest black olives I think I've ever encountered. The Mozzarella they use is like crack. Honestly, the ingredients are all fantastic and you can tell they care about their food AND staff. The only "complaint" I have is the price to add on a salad to an item that doesn't come with one. Over $3 for a small side salad is a bit high for what you get, but truthfully that's all I can really gripe about. A New Yorker friend of ours told us the Cannoli here is "just like home" - now I know what I have been missing. Genius gem of a restaurant - and if they're packed, wait.
Stopped by since my bf and I were in the area after church for dinner. Dinnertime was busy (no tables available) so we opted to do takeout. Took about 20 mins which is ok since we could go to Publix next door to shop a bit. Menu is quite large so I felt a bit overwhelmed. I got the Linguini with shrimp fradiavolo and my bf got the Pasta Alla Burina. Both were delicious, albeit a little oily (which I'm hoping was all olive oil). The shrimp was quite good, no frozen quality, was fresh and had the tail on. My dish was quite saucy but I love something to dip my bread in anyways. It had a bite to it, hence fradiavolo and plenty of garlic, mushrooms, and basil. My bfs penne was perfectly al dente with bacon, mushrooms, a creamy red sauce (you can opt to do Alfredo), peas, and sundried tomatoes. He enjoyed it, although he wished it had more actual penne in it. Overall the main dishes were good, authentic tasting, and a decent amount of food. The salad and soup were just ok, my bfs chicken soup was a bit oily, and my salad had a few bad leaves in it. The garlic rolls were also ok. I think we'd visit again if in the area but wouldn't make the trek out there deliberately. Nice, if you're in the area and in the mood for Italian! We may try pizza next time :)

A quick decision to get a bite to eat led to a simple and pleasant meal at The Copper Monkey. The appetizer of chicken nachos was filling for two people. There was a good selection of beers and iced teas. Out server was prompt and tuned in. A revisit for other choices is warranted. Plenty of TVs for sports watching.
They ADD MORE to your bill if you want a veggie (Black Bean) Burger than if you get a Steakburger. Seriously??? NO THANKS! Talk about alienating some segments of the population.
Service was slow and no one was really in the place. My pet peeve, no water refills, she didn't come by and check on us. The absentee waitress. Monday, late afternoon 2pm lunch. Many servers, like 3 or 4 tables, but slow service. I ordered the French Dip. Pricey ish' but the ingredients were very good quality, the au jus was very tasty also. All in all it was a winner. Side was sweet potato fries. The dill sauce served with it was a nice complimentary taste. All in all the family had a good lunch. Would have probably rated 3.5 stars is service was better, and 4 if the price was better. But given the quality of the food I'm with paying what we paid so long as they keep it up. Two adults, 15 yo and a 2 yo (kids grilled cheese) cost $50. No appetizers ordered. Salmon salad, French Dip, Chicken Sandwich and kids grilled cheese, 2 cokes and that's it. We will be back. Hopefully service will be better.

Simply awesome. Kids food? Check. Good for older folks? Mom, aunt and uncle loved it. Check. Something great for me? Absolutely. Family loved the Cuban sandwiches, kids went nuts for the hot dogs and even peanut butter and jelly, Mom's Reuben was fantastic, and what about my turkey rueben? Incredible. We decided to split a pair of cheesecakes... That was not going to work so had to get another. Overall service was great and props to that poor Yankee girl from New York City, she runs the store like a pure original. I think Arnold said it best, "I'll be back!"
NOT real NY Corned beef or pastrami , more like Boars Head, very dried out and tough
I've eaten here three times and found it to be average, at best. Years ago, I was at a very popular (justifiably so) deli in South Tampa and heard someone ask the owner if he used Boar's Head meat. The deli owner laughed....From what I gather, Boar's Head meat is on the below average side of the scale. Dave's uses Boar's Head meat, so that's probably why it's average.

Perfect place for a group for happy hour. Very diverse crowd and it was packed at 6pm. They have an outside patio area for larger groups and you can order from nearby restaurants and they will deliver your food directly to your table. I thought this was very cool. Anyway, they have tons of beer on tap for you to choose from. The ladies in our group went with a light beer that had blueberries floating at the bottom.. very delicious!
I've been here a few times, always with a group. Tons of beers to try, and the staff makes it easy as they recommend based on what you ordered previously. Try to get there early so you can grab a table, as the table service makes the entire experience that much better, either inside or outside.
Just in case... W.O.B. is a chain establishment that serves a most impressive selection of beers, but no alcohol or food. Wait staff is super friendly and polite, and it has that corporate-vibe if you know what I mean. The place is a little light on the charm-side, and while you're waiting on a beer you get the feeling that the concept was created by accountants rather than a pub owner. They have plenty of TVs, and there is no smoking inside. Men's room could use more frequent attention, but still within tolerances. The beer selection is huge with a very thorough and explanatory menu. Beer is super expensive. While servers are knowledgeable, and are good to offer samples and suggestions they seem easily overwhelmed. And all they serve is beer. Sit at the bar or risk "empty glass syndrome" while you are waiting. Pre-ordering a beer is a good idea if you're at a table. Draft beer menu changes frequently. The place really hops on Monday trivia nights, but servers get in the weeds almost immediately, and it is tough to find a seat. Trivia is fun, but cheating is RAMPANT. Jay Anderson, the trivia emcee does a great job, but he can't patrol the place. If you're not playing trivia, Monday evenings are a night to avoid as it is broadcast inside and outside the joint. They have fairly frequent beer promotions from different distributors. You can order food from some surrounding restaurants, but beware! Some of the close venues are only average to begin with, and when it is delivered, it can (literally) not be so hot. Accuracy for the two times I have ordered out was close, but no cigar. (Blue Highway and Dave's(?) Deli.) Since the place was designed with no food in mind table space is small and cramped. Summary: Great place to treat yourself to import beer styles, but too pricey (even with their buy-in "discount" club) to make it a regular hang-out.

In from Miami and a friend who is a local told us to give it a try...Glad we did! Loved the atmosphere - high-end/modern. Service was great and fast. Food was fantastic. We ordered SEVERAL tapas. *Beef empanadas *Crab cakes *Berenjena croquettes *Sapnish cod fritters *Tortilla espanola *Scallops a la catalana *Paella alicantina *Vanilla mash potatoes *Shoestring fries *Jazmin Thai rice Highly recommended: the Spanish cod fritters, vanilla mash potatoes, beef empanadas & crab cakes The scallops were a little to raw for my taste but, we didn't send them back as not to offend. Paella was delicious but, just a tad too much spice. Being that I am the only one who drinks in out little traveling trio, I chose a nice Pinot Grigio/Verduzzo blend (masianco "masi") also wonderful. Really paired nicely with all the tapas chosen. We also indulged in 3 deserts. *Saboré signature tres leeches *Abuelo's bread pudding *Homemade vanilla mint ice cream All were out of this world scrumptious and enjoyed by all. All in all, I would DEFINITELY recommend this for a fine dining experience, a date night & even Happy Hour (great bar)
They changed their menu since I was last year. They used to have more tapas but they switched to more main courses. They said they're going back to the tapas with a new menu, but I was not impressed. I had grilled octopus and it was fine - but that was it - no side, no bread nothing. I like the decor, but it's pricey and not worth it. Oh, and the worst part about this place is they bring out food when it's ready not when the whole table is ready so I was very disappointed about having to wait for my meal while my wife got her meal five minutes prior!
Went to visit friends. They worried as they know we are foodies. They played it shy and let us discover the experience. As we entered the place, a patron was leaving with his wife. He turned to us and said: "Do yourself a favor and have the Duck and Waffles. Don't even question it." So we did. And it was flavorful and moist and crispy and yummy. The maple syrup, brought in dainty caraffes by the chef, was like a melted butterscotch candy in your mouth. The service was impecable. Excellent drinks. Tried three different ones and all of those on the table of 6 we composed. We had the tostones, the croquetas de bacalao, the mahi, the tuna, the carpaccio... the risotto with black truffles (which were grated on our plate by Chef). I actually mentioned our experience at Alinea (in Chicago) because it was as pleasant as that (without the cirque du soleil magic of Grant Achatz who is famous for his food spectacles). The ambiance is chic and trendy and gothic romantic. Yes, it is not cheap. But amazing food hardly ever is. It is not a place to go and get stuffed. It is a place to linger in, to be celebrated and experienced.

Just terrible . 35 min wait for dried out hard ribs and chicken. Flavorless Mac n cheese. Stay in Gainesville for Sonnys, you're better off.
This place has always blown my mind with BBQ. Every time I come for a horse show me and my dad come here, it's a tradition! Their BBQ is so delicious I don't even have to out sauce on it. What they have now is fine to me (: now if you haven't been here and your an onion ring fan this is your place! They have a half foot and foot long. It's basically put on a onion ring holder and based on height. The onion rings are the best I ever had in my life! The place doesn't look like much on the outside but once your inside you can't miss the awesome subtle decor and the very nice bar. Staffs pretty attentive and the tea is to die for ! They have so many side options and appetizers it's always hard to choose what to get. But they always bring full force with their BBQ and I love em for it! I always look forward to horse shows to come here after! I wish they would make the bathrooms alittle bigger though. But all in all this place has me hooked. It's my one stop shop for BBQ when I'm around Gainesville ! Come here for some darn good food and you'll leave happy and with that one button on your britches unhooked haha.
Average place with average food. My biggest issue is that they don't offer their pulled pork or very many of the other meats served without being slathered in sauce. That doesn't bode well for someone who wants the BBQ dry due to dietary restrictions.

Alright, I have been a long eating fan of BubbaQue's. We always have gotten pulled pork dinners in some way, shape or form. We have tried other plates, but the pulled pork is what hits the nail on the head at this specific establishment. We used to eat at the one in Chiefland FL, due to it being closer to where we lived at the time. I would not recommend that BubbaQues's for multiple reasons. This BubbaQue's in Jonesville is by far the best one we have eaten at. I usually get the redneck nachos and my wife will get one of the pulled pork dinners. It isn't the best BBQ available in the area, but it will surely satisfy your BBQ craving if you want pulled pork. The dishes are quickly prepared and there is always more food than we can finish. Great, fresh tasting sides as well. They also have plenty of sauces to choose from and the staff are very friendly, prompt to fill up your drinks and help you enjoy your meal anyway that you can. The reason for the 4 star review, is due to the food being slightly above average, but not worth a 5 star review, the tables are always sticky and the price is a little high for the quality of what you get. That being said, my family and I still recommend this place!
Decent fix for the BBQ cravings... Kids love it and I get to indulge on smoked chicken and their incredible jalapeño poppers. Love the always friendly staff and decor... Manager sure knows how to pick the lookers too. Well done!
So that was, um, something. Interesting decor; mounted heads and fish everywhere you look. The brisket was not good, the tea tasted stale, the collards were barely warm. My son's food came out piping hot. So hot in fact, that he wasn't able to start eating until 5 minutes later. Thought I would give it a shot despite the blah reviews. I should have listened.
