So I'm not from the area, but I'm here on vacation with some family. I say that because I can't compare it to other BBQ in the area. We are on our way to Shark Valley outside of Miami, coming from Ft Myers. We decided to stop for gas and grab a bite, but originally decided on another place, having not even seen this little gem on my first glance on Yelp. We were driving down Old 41 Rd in Bonita Springs and I saw the word BBQ plastered on a red food truck. We slammed the breaks and pulled in. Anyway, about the food. I ordered a Pulled Pork sandwich with Tangy BBQ sauce, another in the party got a half rack of spicy ribs, and the other a half chicken with no sauce (hmm). My sandwich was brilliant. It was a little sloppy, but it's a pulled pork sandwich, so that's not a negative for me. The sauce was beautiful. I slammed that sandwich down so fast, it barely had time to exist. My sister had ordered the ribs, and she didn't waste any time either. We don't use many napkins because we didn't put the food down long enough to use any. The spicy BBQ was all over her hands and face, and she kept saying how amazing it was. I stole a rib from her and slammed it. The spicy BBQ was perfect. It wasn't burn your mouth spicy; it was really flavorful with a late spicy kick that made it just right. The chicken was good but not great, but after eating the ribs and pork, I had my expectations quite high. I'm sure if there would have been sauce on it, it would have been fantastic. It was really juicy and the skin was perfectly crisp. Next to the truck sat 3 picnic tables with umbrellas, if you'd like to eat there. The truck sat across from a firehouse, which was perfect because a big sign on the back of the truck said "we support our military and first responders". Easy 5/5 for me. The gentleman that ran the truck was very friendly, and his camo shirt and southern accent made me realize right away that I was getting my BBQ from a dude that knew a thing or two about smokin' meat. "Come getcha some!"

READ THIS FIRST: Pulled pork is OK at this counter in the back of a gas station BBQJoint. The pork has a little vinegar sauce (maybe) and drippings of some sort mixed in to it. Whatever it is, it adds some moisture back to it and gives it a reddish hue. Although the meat itself it is drier than a good pulled pork should be, the flavor is decent. Ribs where cooked very nicely but lacked any real discerning flavor. Not that they were flavorless, they were just okay. They also serve the bark of the pork which we also tried. It was also dry when it should be a nugget of crust, gooey goodness. Brisket was not a Texas style brisket nor was it a pot roast like brisket. It was pulled and stringy. We liked the flavor very much but it was very tough.

My friend recommend this place because I've been searching for a new BBQ joint after the place i used to go closed.. I'm so glad I tried it. Everything we ordered was amazing! The pulled pork, mac n cheese, potato salad are the best! We will defiantly be back for more, too bad it's inside a gas station and there is only one table. It's defiantly a take out kinda place.

I love the food here. On busy days I call ahead and place orders for the family meals (and sometimes when I am having company over). It is always a big success! My husband is also addicted to the ribs and barking rice!

I can't tell you how the food is because this place wasn't open when they claimed they were open. The owner may know how to smoke meat but he doesn't know how to run a business. I phoned before I left and got a recording telling me times and days they were open and to leave a message if I wanted catering. Everyone has a cell phone these days, and this guy should use his cell number instead of an answering machine. I'm not about to drive another 15 miles to try again. I won't go even it he's giving ribs away.
