I'm cruiseprincess and came here to check out the food and entertainment!! Food was great and the entertainment was delightful. A show called "Assisted Living" was on the bill tonight and it was hilarious. The staff was friendly and courteous and everyone had a blast!!! We'll definitely come again for both the wonderful food and entertainment!!!

Clams in white wine over pasta. They say it's their signature dish and I believe it. I was sorry to see it end. Comfortable outdoor seating. Great service. Nuff said. Who needs more. Try it out.

They always host bands. I come for the music. The staff works very hard. They could use an extra waitress or two. The two they have are way over worked. The food is just ok. But the entertainment rocks!

Located in the corner of Uptown center it's no longer known as Fred's diner. It's branched and matured into Fred's food fun and spirits. It is still a dog friendly place with nice changes in the patio bar/ environment. They have a few more TVs along with outside bar updates. During the past two months the have been active with live local jazz music, on the weekends, comedy shows, wedding reception/ rehearsal dinners, Texas hold em nights, poker runs. And charity fund raising for the community. The servers are friendly and quick to offer suggestions. The chef has creative freedom as you can see from the specials board near the front door. The cleaning staff do a great job out back of most places you usually see staff on smoke breaks not here the are usually cleaning equipment and mats. The kitchen area is small so that usually means that they get fresh ingredients daily.

I am not a jazz fan. In fact when a tune ends I feel the people are clapping because they were able to figure out it was the end of the tune. Small place, good service, decent food. I had the Osso Buco veal shank nicely done. Wife had a filet and I had a taste and it was done properly. Kind of a hidden little place with good food and entertainment.

We went for dinner and a show. A 3 course dinner was $20 and the show was $15 pp. The food was good. We started off with salads (caesar or garden), then entrees. I think the chicken parm was the best option, but the salmon was tasty too. The risotto that came with the salmon was a little bland though. (Obviously, I ate part of someone else's meal). I didn't try the meatloaf but I heard it was fine. The "award winning" bread pudding was tasty also. The show was a musical called "Assisted Living: The Musical" and poked fun at senior citizens and their communities ("Vaudeville in the Varicose Vein"). I don't think I am the intended demographic at 33, but my parents and aunt and uncle liked the show. I'll admit that parts were funny (like a bit called "Uplifting Melody" about viagara). Other parts I didn't care for (e.g., President of the Homeowners Assoc, and Stetson-wearing lawyer) but the crowd seemed to like it. Anywho, with drinks and coffee you could spend under $50 pp. (The tip is included in the price). Not a bad night out. CDs were sold for $10 after the show. What?! It's not on Itunes?

I love Fred's. Chef Tony is a very experienced chef and makes sure the creative dishes come out right. I love the fact that they have live music almost every night even though the Latin band West Coast Tropico is my favorite. The new menu is awesome!!

While the food at Fred's was quite good, the total experience was a bit off-putting. We went there for dinner on Christmas. They had a special Christmas semi-buffet. The salads & desserts were on the buffet, and the main course was ordered. They hadn't attended to the salad buffet so it was largely empty or picked over. We sat on the terrace, but when a smoker lit up near us we went inside. When I complained about the salad bar, I was assured it would be replenished right away. Then they told us we could order from their regular menu. That's when things got better. The Fred's wedge salad was a treat with lots of blue cheese crumbles, plenty of bacon and a very good dressing. Their specialty is Osso Bucco, and it was special indeed. My wife had a greek salad with grilled Mahi on top. The fish was freshly prepared and very tasty as was the rest of the salad. So all-in-all, Fred's is a good place, it just takes some experience to find that out.

Three of us went for the 8 oclock comedy show. Since the show didnt actually begin until 9:30, we ordered salads and tapas and some drinks. Chicken fajitas were the most popular on the plate, and I personally made the caprese disappear. The waitress was attentive, if not a little jaded. She warned that not all the comedians would appeal to everyone. With a lineup of seven hopefuls, this proved true. I was eager to check out the talent ever since the Comptons developed their very popular "Assisted Living" production at Fred's, which they then performed locally before being lured to New York last year. Max Mosquito (a Florida stage name - come'on people!) introduced each of the comedians to an obviously appreciative audience. They clapped and laughed out loud even with just a mention by Max that someone funny was coming on stage. Each performer came on with endless riffs on sex and body functions. I tire pretty quickly when attempted shock value pushes actual wit out of the schtick. So Ill probably come back for the food, or the music, but unless I specifically know about a performer, Ill give the comedy nights a pass.

We like Fred's, particularly because it serves as the Wednesday evening home of Stu Shelton, who along with his Trio, is one of our favorite jazz pianists, not just in Naples, but in this country. If you like the music of Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, Ramsey Lewis (I'm dating myself but this music is timeless), you'll love hearing Stu Shelton on the piano. Fred's provides excellent accompaniment to Stu's music. You can order a little or a lot, and it is all tasty. Their wines are good, and their service for the most part is excellent; on show nights, its a little slow, but not too slow to take away from a very enjoyable evening of terrific music and excellent food. WELL....It's OK. THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD. The vibe is less than exciting, very drab interior, and a very mixed crowd which includes your local granolas, cougars, emoos and bar rats. They offer an $8 cover for comedy night, which a local group of talent who call themselves a bluegrass band to do the opening act. Good for Naples, which is in the corner of a strip mall...however, one of the busiest bars in Naples is right next door, so they definitely have guts for competition. I think they've maintained a consist ant clientele, and being a family owned and operated business, I really wish them luck!! ( My suggestion is that they focus on amping up their interior, and offer a 20's & 30's something vibe on Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday nights so they don't compete with the bar next door which is currently most popular on just Fridays. Hope they can think up some marketing ideas to sell some of their great tapas & homemade entrees, and make a buck on their booze & cover charge ) p.s. 5 STARS FOR BEING DOG FRIENDLY ON THEIR PATIO!! ***

Terrible service, false advertising, on the door AND the drink menus it states happy hour until 7pm however they tell you sorry it ended at 6 after telling the waitress that's false advertising she totally ignored us, when we approached her she said she was not our server but she was the only server in there......needless to say we walked out, shame there was going to 5 of us and they looked like they needed it.......the music was good however way too loud for the size if Fred's We will Not be going back, I am an organizer of a large meetup group of over 300 ppl in Naples and this could have been a place for us as we are all year round residents but not after this episode last night.

A bit disappointed when arriving last night for our 7:30 reservations for four, to be greeted at the door by a hostess who informed us that there would be an $8.00 per person cover charge. We told her that we hadn't been informed of that when we called for reservations, and we had just driven 30 minutes to go there. She shrugged, oh well. I asked to see a manager and was directed to a lady behind the bar who was serving, bartending, managing and a part owner. I told her of the issue and was told that we could sit outside to avoid the cover charge. We went outside and was hit in the face with cigarette smoke. We came back in and I told the manager that we were disappointed with our options. She said she could tell the lady outside, who was a dealer there, not to smoke. I told her that I didn't feel that she was being very accomodating and if we could sit inside we promised to not listen to the band since we had requested no cover fee. She then seated us and said that the band was very expensive. I've never been to a restaurant in Florida in the 4 years that we've been coming here, to be expected to pay for their entertainment. So, we ate, mediocre food, enjoyed french martinis that were on the menu but were served with little or no shamborg, only to have the owner bring the bottle to our table and add it per our request. No bread was offered or served. We did enjoy the music and tipped the band well. We also elected to not use our coupons that we had printed off for $5.00 off of $30.00, since they did let us stay, eat in the dining room, enjoy the music and dance without paying a cover. However, we noticed that no one else entering was asked to pay a cover at the door! Needless to say, we won't go back. I do wish them well, but too many other places to go to deal with the frustration.

Fred's Diner is a family-friendly (and dog-friendly) eating establishment in North Naples. It's a diner with a somewhat unique menu and definitely a unique ambiance. For starters, as mentioned above, the diner is dog-friendly so go ahead and bring your dog. If you do, you'll be taken to the patio and seated outside in an open seating area with a bar. On Sundays at brunch, starting at 11am, Fred's also has a jazz musician playing live music. Fun! The menu is very nice. There is stuffed French Toast using wheat bread. The stuffing is bananas and strawberries. The breakfast quesadillas are also very good, and the stuffed biscuits have homemade gravy. I have been to Fred's three times (always for breakfast) and enjoyed every meal.

Extremely overpriced food. The food was TV-dinnerish, and definitely overpriced for the meal. Their service was terrible. The waitress messed up our order, and then would not do anything to remedy the situation and took offense when we suggested a reasonable alternative. The atmosphere was bad, the food was terrible, and the service was the pits. Don't eat here.
