We were craving Italian food downtown Naples and thought we would try a place we have never been to. We checked the menu outside and immediately knew we had to try it even though it wasn't that busy inside around 8:15 on the Sunday before Labor Day. Then to our surprise the door never closed behind us.. people kept coming in until there we no seats left and people were waiting outside in a lite rain for a table. Now to the important stuff, we shared the mussels which were outstanding. I ordered the risotto dish and my husband had the filet both were exceptional. Our server went above and beyond with the amount of tables that sat within a short amount of time. We never felt rushed or neglected. The manager Fabian kept the guests informed and happy doing everything a great manager should do to make the dining experience worth the wait. We left around 9:45 and people were still coming in for dinner. They also offer outside dining so enjoy this restaurant to the fullest and bring your family & friends. Thank you Alberto's for a great dining experience.

Went here while on vacation. We came for there late night menu (if you don't want to spend so much) which is 19.50 pp for an appetizer, main course, and a cup of wine. My boyfriend and I had the bruschetta and cream carrot soup for apps, so delicious! Then the spinach puffed pasta and shrimp with scallops screwers.. Again, delicious! The tiramisu was delicious too, and I don't usually like it. Overall great service, great food. I would recommend this for a birthday dinner or any other occasion.

Always excellent food and service. Best early-bird and late bird special in Naples! Great seafood and italian food. Everything is just well prepared, fresh and scratch made.

Food is very simple, but very good, service is also very good. No small portions of wild food here, but they seem to use the best ingredients so the food is really tastey.

I had the pillow pasta. It was absolutely amazing. Perfect portion size, light and fresh tasting in an amazing creamy white sauce. What else could you ask for? Best pasta I ever had.

Absolutely delicious! The flavors are euphoric. Probably one of the best! Food, service, ambiance all done right. Went w family on a Saturday night for my birthday in the off season & we all tried each other's dish. Menu is not overwhelming & just 3 entree specials that night. The special appetizer was a yellow roasted tomato bisque soup with a basil drizzle & one delectable shrimp in the middle. The bruschetta is great but you only get 3 pieces.. wanted more! The risotto w scallops was good. You could taste the saffron & the 3 extra large fresh scallops were cooked perfectly. The Homemade pillow shaped pasta stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, in mascarpone and parmesan cream.. creamy & delicious. The red snapper & branzino were also tasty! I ordered the Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée with Fresh Raspberries & was surprised with a birthday song by the older Italian guitarist serenading everyone all night! The Flute Limoncello was dreamy. Like lemon meringue pie but better. Homemade Raspberry & Mango Sorbets were creamy, fruity & delicious Great place!

My wife and 2 sons love this place for their staff, wonderful food and great value. If you can make it for their early dinner - do it - wine, wonderful appetizer, excellent main course - a great value on 5th Avenue

Come during their early bird special (4:30pm-5:30). It is an outstanding deal. I had burrata cheese/tomato salad as a starter and scallops/shrimp kabob as my main entrée. A glass of (decent) house wine is also included. They give you warm olive bread too. Make a reservation to sit outside. We had a beautiful night to enjoy dining al fresco. My entire family loved our food!

My wife and I just came back from a phenomenal dinner at Alberto's. Our waiter was Cosimo who gave us the most phenomenal experience from having an authentic Italian accent and giving us phenomenal service with suggestions on the menu and promptly giving us food and refilling water. From the menu we especially enjoyed the burruta salad as well as the blackened shrimp / scallops. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone living / coming to Naples.

I dined here a week ago while visiting relatives. The Sea Bass was excellent and out waiter was as well. The wine selection was plentiful - I chose a delicious Pino Gris. I recommend reservations as it seems to be very popular. The prices are what you would expect for Naples. Not cheap.

What an amazing find! My fiancé and I stumbled upon this gem and couldn't have been happier. For $19.50 pp, we got an appetizer and an entree, plus a glass of wine! He had the biggest bowl of mussels to start, with the scallop and shrimp entree. The scallops and shrimp were huge, and were served on a skewer, on top of broccoli and lobster bisque. I had an arugula salad with fresh shaved parmesan, and the chicken with wild mushrooms for my dinner. The salad was excellent, and the chicken was ok. Good flavor, but I didn't get any mushrooms, and it was basically chicken and mashed potatoes in a creamy Marsala sauce. We will for sure be back during our next trip to Naples! I think I'll try the steak!

Everything was absolutely delicious from the hot bread with olives baked inside to the cappuccino and homemade chocolate cake! The risotto is a must get!!

We visited in late October with some friends. The food and service where amazing. I'll say that while they don't have a kids menu nor a changing station in bath room the server went out of our way to welcome our 2 year and our friends one year old. We sat outside after watching the sunset. My husband and I ordered Bruschetta, and entrees of Pillow pasta and Pesto with jumbo clump crab. The waiter asked the chef to make up a quick noodle and white sauce for our little ones to share. The dads fraught over the leftovers as that was also delish. This is a place I'd come back, recommend and bring others. The wine list is not large but my Pinot Noir was delightful. The rest of the tables had martinis. Really for the price (not cheap but not crazy - bill $120ish) you couldn't beat it and its better than expected.

Alberto's was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! All of the food ordered by myself and friends was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The 19.90 deal for 2 courses and a glass of wine is a great deal! There were so many more dishes we wanted to try and we would definitely go back!

3/5. Set reservations for Valentine's Day which was my first mistake. And this review may be "dampened" by that because it is one of the busiest days of the year. We had set a reservation for 8:30 and got there 5 til and they told us it would be a little wait, okay that's fine. Except we didn't get seated until 8:50 which kinda made me mad since I set reservations up two weeks ago. So anyways were at the bar having a few drinks (overpriced wine at $13 a glass). It comes to be seated and the waiter lists off the specials and luckily he says the New York strip for $45. I say I want it and my wife gets their ravioli. 10mins later if that, our food comes out. My steak was good but not $45 good and to be completely honest it was a little burned on the edges. For $45 I've had much, much better and, I think, no it was jacked up for Valentine's Day. My wife's ravioli was good but the whole restaurant wasn't enough for me to come back. Worth a try but I definetly think there is better in napels because I have been to better.

I had a delightful romantic dinner on 5th avenue. Alberto's on Fifth distinguishes itself as decadent, Northern-Italian cuisine with many French influences. For appetizers, we ordered fresh mozzarella Buratta with a soft creamy inside. This is the only restaurant in Naples to serve Vitello Tonnato: a room-temperature served veal with a rich tuna sauce and capers. It's amazing! For the main course, I couldn't decide between pastas: the Veal Ravioli or the one stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta Cheese. Our waiter spoiled me with a half-portion of both, which were equally delicious in their own ways. My date had the Pesto Pasta with Jumbo Lump Crab. While she barely allowed me to try any (if that is any indication), with the little she did share, I enjoyed the fresh basil and cream of the pesto sauce and fresh chunks of crab meat. You can tell that the pasta is made fresh. Dishes were moderately priced compared to other fine Italian fare in Naples (some of which are a few feet away). We finished the meal with refreshing Lemon Gelato served in a flute glass with Limoncello. Chef Alberto himself made his way to our table and spoke with us. He came across as genuine and charismatic in an almost calm and soft-spoken way. Much like his food. Date accomplished. We will be returning to Alberto's soon!

Excellent options and price for early dining experience. For $19.95, had tasty beet and shrimp salad with four huge shrimp, 5 oz steak with spinach and mashed potatoes and a glass of wine. Very delicious! Our waiter Cosimo was wonderful. Very attentive. Would definitely return.

We loved this place! The scallop appetizer was enough for me-- 3 large scallops with truffle and mushrooms-- homemade pasta--- great waiter-- no complaints!

I've been here two times in the last few months and both were excellent meals - and both quite different -one was a pasta and one a fish. The atmosphere is great, the service very good and the Italian food excellent. I don't get to Naples that often, but I don't even see a reason to try another place, as it would not be as good.

This is the real deal. Nice setting and very good Italian food. When it slowed down after 9pm we were talking to 3 of the waiters all from Italy! One from Sicily, one from Calabria and one fro Naples. Salids were fresh and the pastas were cooked perfectly. We will be back.

Based on reviews, I thought I'd try it. I was totally disappointed, most of all with the service. Our waiter brought the wine after we finished our first course, stating he had messed up a customer's credit charges and was on the phone this whole time. Had to ask for bread twice, water, even our check. For the prices, the service should be much better than this. I ordered the Chilean Sea bass with polenta. The fish was tender but the crust was unbearably salty and overcooked and the so called polenta was a mayonaisse type cream which as far from polenta as you can get. $33 waisted. The menu is limited, the service is awful, my dish was not worth the price. I will never return.

My husband and I have had drinks at the bar before but never ate at Alberto's. A few people recommended it so we decided to try it. Big mistake. We were seated and the waitress came over to us almost 10 minutes later and offered two specials... we asked if maybe we could see a menu and get a drink before deciding on the specials... hehe We asked if they could do a shrimp cocktail and we were told no. We pointed out that the beet salad had shrimp but were told no again. We ordered wine and the waitress didn't really know much about the menu or wines. I ordered a sauvigon blanc and the waitress continued to point out they had a great chardonnay... it was bazaar, I wasn't looking for suggestions and I had already ordered. We also had to ask for bread when it was arriving at most other tables automatically. We ordered an app and asked if the arugala salad was big enough to split or if we should order two. She sort of looked perplexed and then went over to a few surrounding tables to see if they had the salad she could point out. This went on for 20 seconds when we finally told her to just bring us 2... In the meantime my husband went to the bathroom where he ran into a waiter coming out of a stall (not from the urinal) who walked right by him back to the restaurant to work (ie did not wash his hands). He came back to the table disgusted and called across the street to 'Chops' and made a reservation. We asked the waitress for the check and she reiterated that we only had drinks, 2 salads and an app and we confirmed that yes that was it for us. Our bill was $62 and we gave her $100. We waited at least another 15 minutes for her to return, so long in fact the hostess came over and mentioned she saw me looking around and was there something she could get for me. At least someone was attentive. Here is the kicker (as if the guy not washing his hands wasn't the kicker). The waitress finally returned and said "if I may be so bold, I have change of your hundred except for $16 that I am short". Meaning she wanted the $16 as her tip. I asked, in this entire place you cannot change $100 bill? I would have ran next door before being so tacky to a customer. We eat out 7 nights a week and tip over 20%, we even planned on leaving her 20% and she was clueless... we assumed it was her first night working there (and my husband assumed maybe it was her first night waitressing). I asked her for the $100 back and paid with my debit card and left her $10 for the $62 meal and even that killed me. I think this experience would have called for not leaving a tip at all but I've never done that. She then started to thank us for ordering so quickly telling us she appreciated us 'ordering so quickly' when we sat down. We ordered so quickly because we sat there for 15 minutes hearing about specials before we saw a menu or had a drink, we were starving! We told the waiter at Chops what happened to us and he said he heard a few restaurants on 5th were pulling the 'we don't have enough change' when paying cash scam to try to increase their tips, which I find hard to believe... but apparently Alberto's is one of them. The salads and app were good, assuming that the chef washes HIS hands. I assume considering the other reviews, maybe the food is good as well? I most certainly will never know. Pass on this place and try Chops or Trulucks. There is even a no frills Italian restaurant in a strip mall off Davis called Aldo's which has good food. The owners of Aldo's recently opened Taco & Tequila (which we have not been to).

I find this restaurant very sneaky. They offer an "early bird" special from 5-6pm daily. We decided to dine there around 5pm to get the early bird menu which included a 2 course menu and wine for $19.95. The "early bird" menu seems to include everything on their normal menu without limitations. We arrived at 5pm and were sat at a table with 2 regular menus and a wine list. There was not anything on the menu that stated "early bird" specials so we thought that perhaps we misread the website or it wasn't being offered anymore. Our waiter greeted us and while he was nice, we had to ask if there were any specials. He told us the specials but did not mention an "early bird" menu option. So again, we thought, we must have read the website wrong, because certainly, the waiter would inform us of any such special deals. As we left the restaurant we walked the opposite way down the street from which we originally came and saw a sign for the restaurant. The sign was advertising the early bird menu! I find it very sneaky and highly troubling that the restaurant made no mention of this on their menu, during our dinner or as we ordered. The food was okay...not great but not the worst food I've had either. The waiter was nice but not forthcoming. My advice: there are plenty of other establishments on this street that are worth your patronage and are not sneaky. Try Bha! Bha! across the street...it is phenomenal!

The food is to die for. Just had spinach and ricotta filled pasta - so delicate with heavenly creme fraiche - you can't miss. Husband had salmon filet with asparagus - flavor off the charts.

this is the second time we have eaten there. pretty upscale italian flare with authentic italian staff in some cases. had the chilean sea bass which is not some thing i would ordinarily order although i love cod, salmon and swordfish. it was excellent with a mushroom type sauce and polenta which was a great alternative to mashed potatoes. delicious and not super expensive. did go to early dinner which included glass of wine and less expensive than later dinner menu. the spread was really goo crusty itailan including olive bread. our waiter was a young man from italy by the name of gabirelle and was very attentive, timely and friendly. it will be my go to restaurant when company wants to go for dinner.

With the understanding that reviews depend on a bunch of criteria, including the timing of the visit, I found Alberto's on 5th to be excellent. Our waiter, Raul, was charming, informative and skilled. My dinner started with a perfectly prepared vitello tonnato nicely presented. Others in our group had the spinach salad and found it well prepared and tasty. Our main courses were similarly appealing. My filet mignon was slightly more medium than medium rare, but extremely delicious thanks to the red wine reduction. The spinach bed was a great compliment. The veal medallions with asparagus were tender and well prepared. The Bronzino was attractively plated and tasty. The Chilean sea bass was very good as well. The mashed potatoes that came with the main dishes were irresistible. Overall, Alberto's is a fine place.

Been getting down to Naples a little more often and have been hitting so many restaurants on fifth. Having been to Alberto's once previously and loving it, we decided to go for it again. The place was packed and the service was very good. For an appetizer I had the sea scallops which was very good, but was very overpriced. Got 3 medium sized sea scallops for 18.00.Honestly this portion couldn't satisfy a bird. For dinner my gf had the red snapper which she enjoyed. I had the tortellini w lobster tail which was excellent. However, once again I feel the portion was a bit light. Lobster tail was adequate, but only got 5 tortellonis. Still feeling a bit hungry , I was looking forward to their creme brûlée which was dynamite the last time I was here. After seeing the pic posted on yelp of a fresh made dessert w the sugar being carmelized , I was anticipating an awesome finale to my meal. What i got was certainly not fresh. The caramelized sugar was cold and hard as a rock with the custard underneath cold as well.Such a terrible ending to a very good meal. This was the only item that was truly disappointing.

We stopped in after a walk on 5th , for an early bird Sunday dinner tonight. Wow. The food was exquisite, caprese balsamic salad and the mussels appetizers,, tartaglieni pasta with mushrooms and scallops ( the best) and chicken breast in a mushroom reduction sauce. Ambience and the restaurant design, service ,and attitude was perfect and very friendly and comfortable. All of this for an exceptional value, based on the South Florida summer season. We cannot wait to return in September for another terrific dining experience. I can only very highly recommend Alberto's for anyone in the Naples area looking for a sophisticated Italian dining experience.

Fantastic! Apps were delish! Roasted peppers & shrimp with an arugula salad were excellent. Entree: homemade pasta with scallops was delectable. All pastas and sauces are homemade. We are from NYC so we can be picky. Excellent staff; Fabio the bartender & our waiter Sean were all professional and super nice. Will make this place a regular stop.

We decided to check out the early menu, served from 5-6:30, what a deal. We both had the Arugula Salad with Shaved Parmesan Cheese, Lemon and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, very nicely dressed. The my wife the Homemade Wide Ribbon Pasta tossed with Bolognese style Veal Ragout, and I had the Homemade Taglierini with scallops, both excellent. The service was good, this place will definitely go on our rotation.

Alberto's on fifth is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in Many years. Everything from the drinks to desserts are delicious. This was my third seating at Alberto's and in this occasion we started at the bar with Aperol spritzers. Aperol is a compari like liquore without the bitterness, mixed with presecco and seltzer, garnished with a large slice of orange. It's so refreshing its a great way to start the evening. After cocktails we moved to the dining room and split the arugula salad and tomato Gorgonzola as starter for the four of us. Both salads were really fresh and tasty and were generous portions. From there we moved onto a few pastas to share. The lobster tagliatelle and veal Bolognese. They were split nicely for the four of us. I could not choose which one was better as both were out if this world. We also ordered the New York strip special. The chef layered Parmesan whipped potatoes, then spinach and topped it with the steak. It was cooked perfectly and topped with thinly sliced fresh Parmesan. As we were also sharing this dish the kitchen sliced the steak for us. I have to say the food is delicious and consistently so. One of my favorite Naples restaurants.

Second time here. Pasta here is excellent. Service was fine. Had homemade tagliarini pasta with pesto and lump crabmeat. Really good. Arugula salad was ok....plain...but expected to be plain. Had some interesting martini choices as well. Everyone of our party enjoyed the meal.

There are many restaurants to choose from on Fifth Street in Naples, but few can rival the food you will find at Alberto's. The pasta dishes are exceptional with pasta that is as good as anything we've had in Italy. The veal bolognese had us considering licking the bowl. We actually had other diners stop by the table to ask what we had ordered because it looked so good and the flavors matched the look. The air cured beef tenderloin carpaccio served with burrata is so unusual and beautifully presented as are all the dishes. This restaurant provides diners with an experience not just a meal. From the moment you step in the doors they do everything they can to make your evening an event. We ended our meal with the tiramisu. It was not only picture perfect. It was silky and smooth to the taste. Our waiter was able to suggest wines to accompany each part of our meal- wonderful. We were amazed at the reasonable prices of our meal when compared with other restaurants on Fifth Street. We were able to eat our meal at Alberto's for the same price as appetizers and drinks at other restaurants on Fifth!

The chef's special sea bass dish is very flat tasting - lacks flavor. ($29). Veal ravioli was very good, not excellent. Risotto with shrimp was perfect. Atmosphere (we ate outside) was wonderful so that the overall experience was very good, but the food was a 7/10 overall. Service was adequate, not great.

Pretty disappointed. Three different entrees, but the exact same sides...mashed potatoes and asparagus. Also didn't have the wine we selected from the menu. Overall, not bad, but would expect much more for what we paid. Won't make it unless they improve...

What a great restaurant. We loved the food, the service and the ambiance. My husband and I had our anniversary there last night. My husband had both the mussels and the fettucine with shrimp, and I had the seared yellowtail tuna. We loved the food and had terrific wines, both were priced very reasonably. We'll be back frequently and have already told our friends.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
