Opened last year in an old BBQ cabin. As my better half say: "Food to die for", normally dislike this statement, but having dinners frequently at 'Nicoles' gives due credit. Dinner menus is surprisingly varied from standard country to wonderful steak dinners. The fried seafood is cooked perfectly with to alight golden color, encapsulating the freshly caught fish. Breakfast and lunch is more traditional country fare, but all freshly prepared within a relatively short time. The dinning room small tables are tightly pack, for dinner there may be a short wait due to the local popularity. Everybody from patrons to staff have that friendly feeling of everybody coming home to a family meal, which is Rare today in at any restaurant. Nicole is the best dinning value in Clay county.

I've driven by this place many times and finally decided to stop. It is in the middle of nowhere! I arrived around 11:40 and saw that they served breakfast until noon. I ordered French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. There were 3 slices of bread and it tasted ok. Nothing special. Same for the eggs. Good, but not great. The star was the bacon. It was 3 thick cut slices. The atmosphere was not so great. It is really awkwardly arranged. It is know kind of a maze walking through the restaurant. My waitress had a severe case of BRF. She never smiled, although she did stop by a couple of times to see if I needed anything. Around noon, the place really filled up so it seems to be pretty popular and some of the customers seemed to be "regulars." I'd try it again but probably try one of the lunch dishes instead.

It is definately a hole in the wall but the food is home made, taste really good, and is served hot. The side salad is huge and has alot of veggies and they have a great home made ranch dressing. The dining area and restrooms are always kept clean. The one draw back is the waitresses are not overly friendly or very attentive. But they aren't rude or anything. Just not what you'd expect in a small country business. I am giving 4 stars for the quality of their food.

We live pretty close by and have been to Nicole's Café in the Country a couple times now. Everything about the building is downright awkward. You can come in the front and will be literally passing diner's plates with your butt by about 6 inches or come in from the side, being careful to not walk directly into the kitchen, to be welcomed by a wall. Oddly, there is a big fan that will blow you just as you open the door. Inside is tight, so much so that you can get "stuck" at your table if someone is standing in the isle or a waitress is stuck taking an order. It would take pages to accurately describe the interior layout of the place. The food here has generally been good to very good (if you can get it hot), usually needing only minor issues corrected. Prices are average to better than average. We have had mostly breakfast fare, everything is decent size and the bacon is actually thick cut. I think you could get about 8 strips of Krystal's bacon out of one strip of theirs. By far, the biggest issue with this place is the wait staff. They are not unfriendly (too much) but they hover like bees to a nest around the beverage station/cash register with detached looks on their faces. I really do not understand it, but my guess is that there is a general lack of direction in the wait staff. Food will often sit in the windows until it gets semi-cold. You know, who wants their pancake to be able to melt butter? Which, again was something else that was not provided until we asked for it, and again, took a good three minutes to be delivered 30 feet. The staff will NEVER look up to catch your eye, because, gosh, you may have some crazy request, like a drink refill. The interior of the place can't be much more than 30' across, but we waited over 30 minutes trying to get the attention of our waitress or just anyone to get more water and have our check taken. Though, the waitress next to our table clearly took and rang up our neighbors check, when we asked for the check to be settled, we were chastised by our waitress as she pointed out where would could take the check if we were ready to pay.

A couple of people raved about this place so made a special trip out to try. The facility itself is rough, cheap tattered furniture, not overly clean, staff not friendly (no Southern manners here)- really it's a bit of a dump. Food was pretty good but not great. My blackened shrimp was nice, but mashed potatoes over-mashed and green beans overcooked and mushy. My sons' chicken strips were probably the best thing on the table- homemade. Husband's hamburger was huge and he was pleased with the potato salad. All served on disposable plates and cups. It wasn't terrible but I won't make a special trip to go again.
