Best icealantic cod anywhere. Portions more than you ever need to eat. Very tasteful fried just right. Been coming here for many years. Service can be off at times. But usually fast and friendly. Would recommend and eat here again.

I tried Cedar River since it was the kinda-sorta-mid-way-point between me and a blind date. We met at the restaurant and were seated promptly. Located in a strip mall off Blanding Blvd, Cedar River is a down home restaurant. The decor is outdated and very kitschy with fish decor and fishing paraphernalia on the walls. Our waitress was friendly and promptly took our drink orders and returned with massive glasses of water and tea. The menu is mid size specializing in seafood, obviously. I ordered the broiled flounder with mashed sweet potatoes and coleslaw. My date also ordered the broiled flounder with okra & tomatoes and a baked potato. Our meals arrived and holy smokes was that a large portion of flounder! The only problem is is needed seasoning, badly. A red spice (Old Bay, maybe?) was sprinkled on top of the fish but it didn't help the flavor at all. I added salt to the fish and that helped some. The sweet potatoes were served in a small bowl and were definitely more sweet and tasty. The waitress told me it would be almost like dessert and she was right. The coleslaw was fresh, light, and crunchy. Probably the best thing on my plate. My date ate his meal and seemed to enjoy it without needed to add salt like I did. He did mention when his drink was refilled they gave him sweet tea instead of unsweet tea. We finished our meal, paid, and then headed to Starbucks to continue our date. The meal was servicable, the people friendly, but I don't envision a return unless I happen to find myself craving seafood in the middle of Middleburg again.

This is a nice family restaurant if you are craving seafood. I enjoyed the clam chowder and fried shrimp. The service is great and they have a fish tank if you have any little ones in your party that need entertainment. I would return if I were in the area.

Have been going to Cedar River for many years. The food is always fresh and absolutely excellent. Many times, Adam has off the chain specials on Sundays--you don't want to miss the fried chicken or the pork chop specials! Warm, friendly atmosphere, great wait staff, and excellent food. You can't ask for more!

Absolutely nothing is good about this place. There was chewed gum in the silverware and napkin so they obviously do not take the necessary care of keeping the place clean. The food was all overcooked and tasted awful. The coke was flat. The tea was terrible and the wait staff is entirely incompetent. The guy who brought our drinks leaned over them as he was putting them on the table and made like weird motorboat noises that were gross and likely got spit in our beverages. The lady... Well female that brought us food kept making excuses for every little thing, and no one wants to hear that. And at then end of it all they didn't even attempt to make any. amends for the poor service and nightmarish disregard for sanitary conditions. I've worked in food service and understand the difficulty of rush but there is no reason for a restaurant to be run this poorly and still be open.

Our family went out for dinner and was not sure about this place. Turned out great. Had a very nice waiter that helped make an enjoyable meal. We all four ordered fried seafood and all of us were in total agreement about the food. It was served hot and fried to perfection. The shrimp, oysters, and scallops were absolutely delicious. The grits, okra, and mashed sweet potatoes were excellent. They have earned out business.

Places like this all over the south specialize in fried stuff. And if it's cooked right, it all pretty much tastes the same. Same here. And you normally can count on it being cooked right and being pretty good fried stuff. I'm not that much into fried, so when the family drags me here, I try other stuff. The stuffed flounder is seriously good. Last time there, I had "blacken" pollock which was cooked pretty much just right, only it wasn't blackened. The best I could tell, it was baked then blackening seasoning was sprinkled over it. Honestly, it was actually pretty tasty, just not what I thought I was going to get. Lime ice box pie was good too. Service is normally pretty good, and although typically pleasant, the wait staff tends to not be very professional.

I am So disappointed. Met my husband for lunch and should have known from the start we were in for a time. After waiting 5 or so minutes to be seated (hostess nowhere to be found and the young blond girl that finally seated us obviously did not want to be at work) our waitress came to get our drink order. As we waited I observed some of the people that came in after us were served as we sat waiting. One gentleman that came in after us was not only served but finished his meal, paid and we were still waiting for our food. I am now ready to leave, lo and behold our food arrives...yeah after the wait it has to be hot and good...not. My scallops were barely warm, the okra tasted fresh out of the freezer and cool in the middle eeww. Did we say anything? NO. Why? If you value your health like I do you know when you complain most of the time you will have "extra" ingredients you really don't want. So after a yucky lunch, thankfully McDonalds is next door, you may be asking why 2 stars. Our waitress was nice.

The shrimp here are just awesome, you can't find better fried shrimp anywhere at any price. They are fresh and always served hot. The tarter sauce is also very good. I would rate this place 5 stars if they just had a few things, 1. a better hushpuppy 2. the locations is sort of hard to get into and out of as it shares a parking lot with so many other businesses 3. offer the shrimp special every day. the shrimp day seems to always fall on senior day and they have apx 40-50 seniors in a banquet room and the service suffers with such a large group. The staff is beautiful and always friendly and do a great job tending to the costumers.
