Located In historic Micanopy, this quaint cage has sandwiches , soups, salads and desserts such as banana bread , pumpkin bread, brownies and ice cream. The homemade chicken salad with pecans on thick marble rye is perfect !!

It's really hard to review a café like this one: on the one hand, it's inviting, cute, the staff is cheerful, and the food is I suppose overall fine--the desserts are homemade and fairly good but not exceptional while the sandwiches are ok but not at all remarkable. So it fits the bill for a small-town place to get a bite to eat, a simple local sandwich shop. On the other hand, unlike Pearl's BBQ just down the road which is humble, tucked away in the rear of a gas station but has truly noteworthy BBQ and country-style side dishes, Coffee N Cream isn't doing anything to set itself apart. Indeed, there's a very similar café just next door that serves the same type of menu of typical sandwiches, a soup of the day, and so on. Coffee N Cream has Working Cow ice cream, they normally have key lime pie which is home-made and maybe another dessert or two, and they have decent sandwiches. It's a bit crowded the way the tables are laid out inside, honestly, but the staff is very nice and they're pretty prompt getting the food out. Therefore, take this three-star rating to mean "this business is doing what they've set out to do fine but nothing here--no single dish, noting else--strikes me as exceptional or any reason to choose it over its competition". I've become more discerning in giving out four-star reviews because if four-stars means just "good", there's nothing exceptional in a five-star review, now is there? So take three-stars to mean "good", four to mean pretty special, and five to mean utterly outstanding--at least from me. Coffee N Cream probably won't disappoint you, but I doubt you'll walk away raving about any especial aspect of the meal, either.

Very friendly people. Limited menu, but that's what I would expect in a small town like Micanopy. We had the chicken salad which is their specialty. It was fine, but nothing spectacular. Lots of mayo, walnuts, and scallions. The bread on the sandwich was really really good though, tasted like fresh homemade. If it was not I would love to know what brand they buy. We had an oatmeal cookie and a brownie. I do not think they were fresh as the sign said, both were stale. We also had a scoop of ice cream and it was super. If I go back to Micanopy I would likely stop again for the ice cream alone.

In the actual town of Micanopy there are two restaurants that you should check out. The first is Coffee N Cream. Coffee N Cream is located on one half of odd looking building on Cholokka Blvd. The inside dining area is slightly small but the food and the friendly atmosphere totally makes up for it. The food is fantastic. The chicken salad is divine. Try it as part of the stuff tomato lunch or as a salad on its own. The Nathan's Hot Dogs are also really good, if not necessarily local. Once you're done shopping go back and get some delicious ice cream and sit on the porch and listen to the music that is being played by some of the locals. I've been here on Christmas Eve as the tourists cleared out. The locals really came out and played some beautiful music while we sat on the porch swing. You will not be disappointed by your experience here.

A cool lil' spot in the antebellum South. Old Floridian style buildings, Spanish moss and mistletoe, magnolia trees. I could almost picture the ghostly images of Confederate soldiers trudging through the mist and eerie silence. Great ice cream, coffee and local sweets (jellies, jams etc...) and quite a bargain. 2 scoop cones were $2.50, easily $4-5 on Cape Cod where I usually take my porking.

First time here on a lazy Friday before Labor Day. Stopped in for a light lunch and had the Chicken Salad Salad. It has been said it's the best in the world - with that said it was pretty good. It had lots of walnuts and was very rich. Worth the stop if you have stopped in Micanopy for a lazy afternoon.

We stopped in at Coffee N Cream on the way to Tallahassee Friday. My husband and I both ordered BLT's and freshly sqeezed lemonade. They were terrific! The tomatoes we definitely fresh from someone's garden! This quaint little town of Micanopy is a must see when traveling through the area. It has that old Florida small town feel. The people working in the Coffe N Cream were very friendly. We also bought homemade oatmeal cookies and brownies. The cookies were the best oatmeal cookies I've ever tasted. We watched as one of the emploees was preparing a new batch, I've never seen them made that way, and knew they would be great. We also stopped back by on our way home from Tallahasse and ordered the same exact stuff, we were equally as pleased. One of the girls there was singing to the radio, a beautiful atmosphere!

A great place to eat. The food is fresh and tasty and the people are friendly and welcoming! Aunt Sherrie's Chicken Salad is wonderful. Love the BLTs, which have plenty of B. The soups are homemade and delicious. And there is always ICE CREAM for dessert. If you have room.....

Been here a few times now, but only for ice cream. Can I tell you that there's a gal in there that REALLY knows how to make a sundae? First she started with a brownie which she said was still warm from the oven. She heated it slightly in the microwave and then proceeded to add an assortment of ingredients that we hadn't even requested, but made this particular sundae the best sundae I've ever had. First she plopped on a scoop of pecan praline ice cream. That was topped off with whipped cream, then toasted pecans, then hot fudge, then caramel, then a cherry, and I think there were sprinkles on top. It was great! Though, too much to eat so I shared it with a friend. We sat out on the porch, where per usual there was a man playing the fiddle. The wind was blowing ever so slightly and both my friend and I agreed that we had been transported to another place in time (could've been the sugar high, though.) But I felt like I was in a Ken Burns documentary. You can get lunch and fudge here, too. Menu offerings will be something like Frito Pie or another casserole of sorts.

This is definitely one of the best places to eat in Micanopy (okay, there are only three) and the people there are really nice. You can get some homemade lemonade and sit on the porch and listen to bluegrass music and it is really close to traveling in a time machine.
