Located In historic Micanopy, this quaint cage has sandwiches , soups, salads and desserts such as banana bread , pumpkin bread, brownies and ice cream. The homemade chicken salad with pecans on thick marble rye is perfect !!
It's really hard to review a café like this one: on the one hand, it's inviting, cute, the staff is cheerful, and the food is I suppose overall fine--the desserts are homemade and fairly good but not exceptional while the sandwiches are ok but not at all remarkable. So it fits the bill for a small-town place to get a bite to eat, a simple local sandwich shop. On the other hand, unlike Pearl's BBQ just down the road which is humble, tucked away in the rear of a gas station but has truly noteworthy BBQ and country-style side dishes, Coffee N Cream isn't doing anything to set itself apart. Indeed, there's a very similar café just next door that serves the same type of menu of typical sandwiches, a soup of the day, and so on. Coffee N Cream has Working Cow ice cream, they normally have key lime pie which is home-made and maybe another dessert or two, and they have decent sandwiches. It's a bit crowded the way the tables are laid out inside, honestly, but the staff is very nice and they're pretty prompt getting the food out. Therefore, take this three-star rating to mean "this business is doing what they've set out to do fine but nothing here--no single dish, noting else--strikes me as exceptional or any reason to choose it over its competition". I've become more discerning in giving out four-star reviews because if four-stars means just "good", there's nothing exceptional in a five-star review, now is there? So take three-stars to mean "good", four to mean pretty special, and five to mean utterly outstanding--at least from me. Coffee N Cream probably won't disappoint you, but I doubt you'll walk away raving about any especial aspect of the meal, either.
Very friendly people. Limited menu, but that's what I would expect in a small town like Micanopy. We had the chicken salad which is their specialty. It was fine, but nothing spectacular. Lots of mayo, walnuts, and scallions. The bread on the sandwich was really really good though, tasted like fresh homemade. If it was not I would love to know what brand they buy. We had an oatmeal cookie and a brownie. I do not think they were fresh as the sign said, both were stale. We also had a scoop of ice cream and it was super. If I go back to Micanopy I would likely stop again for the ice cream alone.

First let me say that I have never been moved to submit a review. But on a recent drive from Chicago to Clearwater I used the iPhone to find a good BBQ spot and ended up at Pearl Country Store and Barbeque and I can't tell ya how happy I am that I did. We almost didn't go in as we were surprised to see the gas pumps outside but once we opened the door and caught a whif of the aroma we new we were in the right place. Yes we are from Chicago but love a good BBQ, and this is by far the best we've ever had. Had the pulled pork sandwitch and wish I lived closer so I could have it weekly. Try it I think you'll like it!
This place has the best BBQ I've had in Alachua county. They not only have great pulled pork and brisket (sadly I have not tried the ribs), but they also have awesome sides. The greens are spicy and I hear good things about the other stuff. The Mac n Cheese is just okay. All in all it's worth the trip down to Micanopy. TIP: come here early. they run out of sides and will not have much towards the end of the day.
I moved to Gainesville from Austin, Texas, and while living in Austin, I slipped off to Lockhart about as often as I could to hit either Smitty's or Black's. When I got to Gainesville last August, I went into absolute withdrawals, and substituting Smitty's with that mediocre fare at Sonny's is akin to weening off crack by taking NoDoz.. Luckily, Pearl is right down the road. It's right around 10 miles from my part of Gainesville, which is really no great drive at all. Though in a gas station, it looks like a BBQ joint should (and also reminded me of meat and threes you used to find all over the south in small gas stations with a kitchen in the back). There is a counter, a pit, some utensils, tables, meat , and that's it - immediately a good sign. It also helps that the folks working there are good-natured and friendly. I had the pulled pork sandwich, and it was damned fine and at a good price. Loads of pork that was smoky, tender and juicy with out being overly greasy. "But wait," you may say, "isn't Texas known for its brisket?" Yes, it is, though both the places I mentioned do have fantastic pork ribs and loin. However, I've lived all over the south and had barbecue all over the place as well, and for me rule No. 1 when trying a new barbecue joint is to try the barbecue that is native to that region. Beef may be king west of the Mississippi, but we all know Pork rules the east. I base my comparison off how well the style of BBQ I'm eating is represented. Pearl Country Store does a great job with pork - it isn't the very best I've ever had, but it is definitely some of the best I've had in a long time. I've yet to have anything close in the Gainesville area. I am looking forward to going back and giving the ribs and brisket a spin. In the case of the brisket, I want to see how it stacks up to the to my Texas haunts. I'm also happy that my withdrawal shakes have subsided and that perhaps I have finally found a hook-up in Florida.

First strip club I've ever been to. Really sweet girls, good food, and reasonably priced
As both a lesbian and avowed bon vivant (quantity over quality, I say) I spent the better part of a week looking forward to stopping at Cafe Risque on my way back from a wholesome weekend of family fun. In the days following up to my visit, I was intently set on ordering a fat stack of pancakes. However, upon entering the cafe, that all changed. As a connoisseur of fine cheeseburgers, I quickly ditched my breakfast plans and enthusiastically chose a bacon cheeseburger cooked medium well with all the fixings. When the waitress offered curly fries as a side option, my heart sank with glee. I must note, my fear that the ambiance would be depressing did not come to fruition. The music was HOPPING. And while I did not have a hankering for a lap dance, there was a hot second that I considered asking for a job application. Just in the nick of time, the waitress brought out our food and the smell of cooked animal diverted my attention to my lunch. I was NOT disappointed. My meal was absolutely delicious and I scarfed down every last crumb of curly fry. I would've licked the plate, but I wasn't entirely certain that sort of behavior would be welcomed or socially behavior in this setting. Next year, I will try the pancakes. Bon Apetit!
I stopped in for breakfast not expecting much at 10:00 am on the 23rd. The server was especially exceptional, her name was Cherry, she was very congenial and kept us a hot cup of coffee. I was very impressed with the service and the food, I had eggs and bacon, (every thing is better with bacon) the thing I enjoyed the most was Cherry's openness talking to me and who I was with. I left a good tip. They were extremely reasonable, and Cherry made my whole drive to Orlando worth every cent I spent there. I would recommend stopping to anyone, it will be on my favorite spots to stop from now on!
