This place is my go to for delicious frozen yogurt. I always go for the soft serve and I don't even care which flavor, because it is always so good. They now accept credit cards, but I always make sure I have cash with me. They always have a creative selection of ice creams and a ton of topping choices. This is is the perfect spot to go after the movies at Sunset Place. As I write this review, I am craving some soft serve!!

Four years later, Whip 'N Dip is still as good as it gets. Local shop, the freshest ingredients, and let's just talk about those cookies. These are honestly the best cookies I have ever eaten - EVER. The peanut butter cookie. Four years later, my tastes may have changed, but I still award the peanut butter cookie the "Best Cookie Ever" award. The texture is spot on with that creamy taste as peanut butter immediately hits your mouth...or even from a five foot distance. The peanut butter chips add a sweetness and the cookie is perfectly moist with the tiniest bit of crunch on the outer edges. Don't like peanut butter? Fine - then the smores cookie and the brownie should also win awards. Heat them up.....and....zomggggg is the only proper word to describe it. Also, the cookies are HUUUGEE, although you will still wish they were everlasting cookies. Variety and choices along with the freshest ingredients - Froyo, toppings, cookies, sweets galore. Till next time Whip 'N Dip...the only thing not sweet is when you see cookie crumbs at the bottom of your bag.

A local fave n' rave with assorted fun flavors and toppings to tickle your tastebuds no matter what age you are and a great family spot to hang out and enjoy a cone. Parking can be limited due to their large following but there is metered parking close by.

Kinda an average place for ice cream. The ice cream, the toppings, and the menu did not stand out, but I know if I was a kid this place would have been the best. The cartoons they have playing outside were really cute and bring back nostalgia from the 90's. Although some ice cream flavors were generic, I REALLY recommend you try out their walnut syrup ice cream, which tastes like pancakes! Surprisingly enough I do have to say the service was amazing, I don't remember the kids name but he was really patient with us. I kept on changing my mind with toppings and he let me take my time and recommended a flavor or two. The place was extremely clean, and the fudge they have looked sooo yummy. Although everyone complains about the parking, there was ample space and I didn't have an issue with it.

Came here not knowing if it was good or not . Many told me it was really good, so I decided to try it myself and it was -One really good tasting icecream - Creamy, Delicious, Variety of toppings, and nice staff -Would definitely come over and over again

Delicious! Kind and professional staff... Amazing flavors! If I wasn't fighting the urge to consume all the sugar my heart desires, I would be here every day! Definitely get a scoop when you have the chance. I sampled numerous flavors and they all were wonderful.

So freakin' good. Yogurt is the best. I've never tried the ice cream but they have tons of flavor selections and an insane amount of topping choices. Fruit is always fresh, assembly area is always clean, staff very friendly. Expect a ton of people when there, place is always packed.

My original review still stands and is accurate, but since it's been nearly 4 years, I figured I'd write an update. I've been back here 2 or 3 times when in the area and hungry for ice cream. Most recently I came here when I'd just returned from several days of travel, it was getting late and I wasn't terribly hungry, but was more in the mood for ice cream or something sweet vs. an actual meal. Right! Whip 'n Dip to the rescue! I drove here and ordered up a banana split. It was huge, I got the classic made with vanilla ice cream (I chose the "lite" version of course) and 3 or 4 toppings that I chose from their assortment along with hot fudge and low fat whipped cream. It was something like $5.25 and quite large. It was perfect for what I wanted...It satisfied my sweet tooth, filled me up, I counted the ice cream and whipped cream as a few servings of dairy and the banana as a serving of fruit so I didn't feel so guilty, and I went away happy and satisfied. I don't come here often, but when I do, I really appreciate this place. Their potions are large, their prices are reasonable, the staff are always great, it's always busy, and it's also a bit of a throwback to a time when I remember going to get homemade ice cream with my family when I was a kid!

I've been coming here for years because it's just soo good! Ever since my high school days I would stop to get some ice cram and now I take my own kids. They make their own ice cream in house and use whatever fruits are in season. You can find some pretty funky blends like salted caramel pretzel with chocolate. It's delicious! They usually have some artisanal baked goods which are hand picked by the owners. No junk sold here, only the best! It can get a little crowded after school because it is near a lot of them and the kids love to go when they get out. Parking is limited. There's branches for you to sit on outside. Love this place!

Fresh and homemade, ever changing menu based on whats in season. I work only about 2 blocks away so the office frequently gets treats from here. The ice cream is amazing and the sugar free selection is always good.

I love this place because they have vegan ice cream . I've tried the blueberry , and strawberry sorbet . The strawberry flavor is the best of the two. The sorbets have only three ingredients fruit , water, sugar.

Great ice cream. Clean. Nice staff. Not cheap. Parking horrible. I started jonesing for real milkshakes after being charged five bucks for a tiny one at Shake Shack. I went to Whip 'n' Dip a few times. The parking is an abomination. There are about ten spaces in front of the strip mall, and there are a few in the alley behind it. People fight over spaces all day. Forget about indoor seating. You can sit outside in the heat if the benches aren't full, and you'll be treated to lots of traffic noise. The prices are a little shocking. A real milkshake (whole milk, thick, etc.) will cost over seven dollars, with tax. I would say they go about 16 ounces, though, so you get about 50% more than Shake Shack, for 40% more money, and the product is much better. The ice cream appears to be the real thing. Butterfat, sugar, and not a lot of air pumped in. It's all very good. One small complaint: they don't have a lot of room for flavors, and they don't have a lot of the typical standbys, so if you don't want their unusual flavors, you may have a problem. The place seems very, very clean. The people are very nice. I don't know of any other good ice cream places nearby. I never thought much of Swensen's (closed), and Haagen-Daz (great) is gone. Cold Stone is just plain bad. I don't think you'll be disappointed by Whip 'n' Dip. Don't expect an indoor seat or easy parking, though. I clicked "Pricey" on the price rating. It's much less than a restaurant, but then again, all you get is dessert.

Loved this place I did samples of the ice cream and it was delicious but then I ordered and Oreo mint chocolate shake thick of course and it was sooooo good!! I would go back !! Also their cookies are really good ! It's no wonder this place has good reviews.. Staff was also very nice and efficient

We love this place! The ice cream is creamy and delicious. The shakes are phenomenal. The atmosphere is quaint and it has that ma and pa feel. We've been there many times and will return for many more visits.

I love that it's been around for so long and it's so cute. You can't go wrong with any of the ice creams they have. If you don't like their daily flavors I suggest going for the frozen yogurt which is equally delicious! Enjoy!

I have religiously visited this ice cream shop and think the light cream and regular flavors are very good. I can deal with a slight lack of quality control with portions which often happens when I can't discern a kitty cup for my son from my small. But, this last trip was gross and annoying. Guys working were more focused on discussing last night night than customers. They were also sampling flavors with small spoons. Eating behind the counter was not appetizing. More bothersome was the one who was off duty or just visiting and started picking at toppings with his bare hands. Very disgusting and I hope the family that runs this jewel recognizes having a shift manager is important.

Really yummy ice cream in Sunset right next to the delicious Buttercream cupcake place. I had the waffle cone and the bf had a cookies & cream milkshake. I thought my cone was good but nothing to write home about, same for the milkshake. In all honesty I'm more of a gelato person, so I may be a little biased. Glad they were open for Easter to get that sweet tooth fix. Lots of people there so I'm assuming it's quite popular.

I have been going to this place since I was in middle school. I find that their soft serve has the perfect texture and is delicious! Their crunch topping is a favorite but they offer plenty more. I love that this place is not a self serve and offer new flavors all the time. Also their staff is real nice and I love sitting outside on their bench to chat and enjoy their cold ice cream.

After moving here in November this was MY place for ice cream. Sadly to say I cannot recommend it anymore. the past several times all the ice dreams we tasted and purchased seems to have "freezer burn". I kept giving it "another chance" thinking it was a one time mess up. Nope. I don't get it. November-April is was great. Now. Pretty poor. I'm sticking to cold stone and Ben and Jerry's for the near future.

Wall of flavors. Soft Serve. Buckets of toppings. All I can say is yum!!! I am able to walk here from my house and on a hot afternoon, it is just what I need! This place is small but packs a big punch of awesome sauce y'all! The wall of flavors changes pretty much daily. They also have low fat and sugar free soft serve and normally that stuff is just not even worth it, but it is by far the best I have tried. Around the holidays my favorite is their chocolate peppermint, but normally I stick to ROCKY ROAD!!! All of their ice cream is homemade in-house and the employees are pretty great! They honor all coupons without hesitation and can handle a crowd with a smile on their faces!!! If you're in the area, you gotta swing by and try for yourself!!

Found this place last minute on a Saturday night. My boyfriend & I walked in & the line wrapped around the small shop. I love that they also have "lite" flavors, which help to satisfy your sweet tooth while trying to shed a few pounds. I had a small "lite" salted caramel ice cream. It was delicious! My boyfriend had a shake & said it was kind of watery, but he really liked my ice cream! I'm looking forward to going back!

I've been coming for years since I was a kid really. I used to enjoy a big cone of their cookies n' cream. The best flavor in my opinion. However as times have changed so has my ice cream intake. I now go for their lite cream and must say most flavors are pretty good. My favorites are salted caramel and peanut butter. Others have a slightly strange after taste. They only get three stars because it seems like each year their prices go up and the serving size goes waaaaay down. I will keep coming back though!

  • Daniel B.

This is one of my all time favorite ice cream places! I love the peanut butter soft serve flavors. I go here about once a week and the only problem is sometimes the line is long on saturday nights. There is also a good variety of flavors.

A nice little ice cream parlor near sunset mall. It is located next door to buttercream cupcakes so if you really have a sweet tooth, you can have cupcakes and ice cream together! The workers were friendly and they have a decent selection of flavors. On this trip I asked to have a sample of like 7 out of 10 of their flavors ( I didn't try their soft serve) and they were all good, nothing outstanding. They also have many toppings and cookies and I think cakes, all of which are reasonably priced. If I am in the area and craving ice cream, I might stop here, but as far as making a drive to get this ice cream? I wouldn't when I have cold stone much closer.

  • Gaby S.

Cute, litltle ice cream shop right off of sunset place. Parking can be a pain like other yelpers have mentioned, but their ice cream rocks! cookie combo is amazing :) i need to go back sometime soon to try the mango ice cream.. yes you did read that correctly, fresh mango ice cream.. update will be posted soon!

My wife is obsessed with this place and I use that obsession to stop by to pick up soft serve here while picking up one for myself, of course. The only real negative about this place was that Jimmy Carter visited a few decades ago but I think by this time the smell has been washed away.

Looks like I am about to disagree with a lot of people about Whip 'n Dip! I was really excited to try out this spot, as it had been recommended to me highly by friends. I finally made it the other night to see what everyone was talking about. I ordered a mint chip waffle cone and don't get me wrong, it was tasty. The thing is, it tasted like regular old mint chip ice cream from Publix or something. It definitely was not worth $4.75 when I could have bought a gallon for less than that somewhere else. This is a cute old-fashioned store, and it's in a great location, but I wouldn't plan to return unless someone dragged me back. Plus, anywhere that's cash only loses points for me -- who carries cash any more?

WOW! No but really. Wowwww! I loved whip n dip. It's family oriented and cute local place in south Miami. They make their own ice cream. Everything is homemade. Including the super delicious hot fudge. Which you have to put on your ice cream. You'll thank me later. I'm already addicted. Oh and they have frozen yogurt flavors for those who want to diet and still eat ice cream.

Really like this little place. I've been coming here ever since I was a kid with my dad. Their ice cream is excellent! I bring my dog along every now and then as well since they offer doggie ice cream. He loves it as well :)

Don't know why I haven't reviewed whip n dips, since I only went there every week for months while we attended classes at South Miami Hospital. We recently went back on National Ice Cream Day to celebrate the holiday. First off, this place is always busy, so parking near the Women's club is suggested. Second, go for a unique flavor, because I think they have some of the best home made ice cream here in Miami. This is a great treat on a hot summer day.. heck any day.

We used to come here a lot and then stopped. Whip 'n Dip is the classic ice cream place in the South Miami/Coral Gables area. Everyone that comes here knows each other from either school or sports, or is family related. Flavors change weekly. My favorite is the Peach Praline, which has not returned in a long, long time. Please bring it back!! Otherwise I get whatever is on special that tastes good. You can taste every flavor and they don't get mad. They actually want you to taste before ordering! In my last visit I got S'mores nonfat soft serve. The ice cream was great -- not too sweet and perfect chocolaty flavor. If you are in the area and want to try classic_homemade ice cream, then go to Whip 'n Dip. You will either love it or not... PS: there are benches outside to sit down and enjoy your ice cream while people watching. Sometimes the queues may be long and go outside the door.

Last Saturday was the second time I have ever been to Whip 'n Dip Ice Cream, and I always appreciate their amazing service. The second I got there the attendant gratefully offered to help me and provided me with a range of free samples, and I ended up getting their Rocky Road ice cream. Delish! Their frozen yogurt is also amazing. What else do I like about Whip 'n Dip? It is right next to Buttercream Cupcakes-- the best cupcake shop in town. So if you are in the mood for ice cream, froyo, or a nice cupcake, you are at the right place. I would have given this place a five, but since they only accept cash, I had to demote them to a four.

A family owned ice cream shop with a great and friendly staff. Nothing like homemade ice cream in this Miami weather. Their homemade hot fudge is ridiculous and also have an amazing Peanut butter soft serve every now and then. Their coffee is probably the best coffee ice cream i have ever had in my life and if i mention how good it is with hot fudge i might break the internet. Cheapest prices in town as well. Good luck finding something cheaper cause you really won't, I've tried. Serving sizes may be too big if anything as well. As far as negatives, the place seems a little outdated but it may be part of its appeal

Great. Classic. Very much a Miami institution. Great ice cream, reasonable prices, and friendly service. The clientele varies from 8 year olds with their parents (hopefully) to frat boys and girl from UM to the more mature Old Cutler/CocoPlum crowd. If you're just coming out of a movie at Sunset Place, or dinner at Cafe Pastis, hit up Whip n' Dip for a nice scoop of Miami. Note: Bring cash.

I miss Jaxon's! I moved to Kendall shortly after my high school graduation and I have yet to find a creamery like the one I was used to. From the ice cream to the atmosphere this place was blah! Go if you're in the neighborhood the ice cream is ok, I mean how bad can it be, it's ice-cream! Definitely not worth driving out of the way for and the price, meh!

you know you've reached adulthood when on cinco de mayo after a fun day of poolside imbibing, you choose to go get ice cream instead of going to south beach with some enticing young fellas. yup, my friend and i decided that a wide array of ice cream toppings sounded sexier than a wide array of french men. every spoonful was worth it.

Try the oatmeal cookie ice cream. It's so delicious. There have to be a ton of calories attached, but it's so good that you just won't care. UM students and alumni- they have a 10% discount for us, so don't forget your Cane Card or Alumni card.

A nice little ice cream shop near Sunset Place. They don't have too many flavors and only 5 are there all the time. I decided to go with a shake-malt and it wasn't bad. Unfortunately, since they didn't really have that many flavors and none really unique flavors, I stuck with chocolate. Cash only!!!!!

Classic, local staple, tradition etc etc etc. Ok I get it, my friends have been coming here since they were fetii and the people watching (usually countless gaggles of private high school girls squealing about the latest drama-fest) is pretty great and yea the ice cream is pretty good, but limited flavors and cash-only means this place doesn't really make me giddy. Honestly, and don't let my friends see this, I think Wall's has better ice cream. Update: My friends found my review. They haven't let me live it down since. I'm not budging though.

I've been coming here for many years... I have no idea why I didn't review it until now. Whip n Dip is the stuff sweet-tooth dreams are made of. Delectably delicious ice cream with (usually) about half the guilt. I love that you can come here and decide whether you want to be health-conscious or go all the way and throw that diet out the window. They give you a generous amount of options ranging from fat-free no sugar added soft-serve, to rich decadent hard ice cream. They have almost every topping under the sun, too... It's impossible to get bored with ice cream here. One more thing, their portions are HUMONGOUS!!! I only take a star away because of the lack of seating. There should be tables all over the place outside instead of 4 picnic benches. It gets really crowded on the weekends and the size of the locale is not meant to handle all the traffic. But hey, if that's my one complaint, that's pretty damn good! Means you're doing everything else right!

There was a time when Whip 'n Dip was my go-to option for a sweet and refreshing fix on a hot day. These were the times before the frozen yogurt trend took over the city and options became seemingly endless. I revisited this local haunt for the first time in over a year and was a little let down. Even though my ice cream was the perfect consistency and delicious, it was the service that peeved me to say the least. They weren't too nice when I asked for a sample but served up my chocolate soft serve with warm peanut butter quickly. I forgot that this place is cash only and usually that is not a problem because they have an ATM in the store. Today it was broken and that's when he told me I would have to go down to the corner to get cash out. Let's just say it took everything I had to not just walk out and climb in my car to leave my cup of soft serve melting on the counter. When I came back, he didn't seem too apologetic about making me leave to go get money and I can't believe this small cup of ice cream cost over four dollars! I blame my dissatisfaction with my ice cream order on my poor decision making. The warm peanut butter didn't mesh well with the cold chocolate soft serve, I'd definitely stick with cookie dough or cheesecake next time! While I got reminded about how delicious soft serve can be, I've managed to stay away from this place for over a year and probably won't be too enticed to rush back again.

Doesn't get better than this for me. Best ice cream in Miami and it's a local spot. There are always tons of flavors to choose from. The chocolate/PB yogurt option is always amazing if it's available. And the homemade hot fudge can't be beat. By anyone. Ever. It is so good. Get some coffee ice cream and put some hot fudge on it and you'll be really happy. Their homemade ice cream sandwiches are also really good. And their frozen chocolate covered bananas. And pretty much everything that they have there. It's been around forever for a reason and it never disappoints.

Nothing like some soft serve on a hot Miami afternoon. The flavors change every week so stop by and try them all. Soft serve and homemade fudge???!!! Delicious.

Awesome place, love the ice cream here. All natural, very small (small little spots are usually the best for some reason), and the ice cream is great! The soft-serve flavors are awesome, and the toppings are ok (nothing out of this world, but still good). *Tip* If your not gonna be in Sunset Place very long, park around here and walk there so you avoid the paid parking. Don't tell them I told you though. :)

Whip n' dip is a local, family-owned ice cream and yogurt spot that's been here since 1985. It's always on the to-do list we're in this area. They offer both soft-serve (whip) and scoop-style (dip) ice creams and yogurts. A large selections of toppings are also available. Given its ideal location (near some schools and adjacent to a large neighborhood) this place is usually mobbed after dinner or on any warm weekend day. To avoid these crowds, sometimes we will get ice cream to go before dinner, immediately stick it in the freezer, and have it for dessert later. On our recent visit I tried a small cup of the chocolate whip ice cream. My girls each tried the swirled mix of choco and vanilla, plus sprinkles. My ice cream was very good - much denser and richer than I remembered, but still supposedly healthier (less fat) than the dip ice cream. A very satisfying treat on a warm day.

When I came across this place on a search for ice cream joints I thought it sounded more like an "adult" store than a dessert place but, hey, it got my attention. To Whip 'n Dip I would go, even if the ice cream sucked I thought it would be fun to tell my husband, "Babe, wanna get some Whip 'n Dip?". Alright onto the real stuff. The place seems to be stuck in time, circa 1983, with its lattice backed menu boards, formica counter tops, Miami Vice flamingo pink and teal exterior and the community cork board (which I LOVE actually....miss having those around other places in town). The teen-aged employees actually look happy to serve you and offer generous samples of ice cream or frozen yogurt. The frozen yogurt is creamy and flavorful. The ice cream tasted hand churned and was truly delicious. It has great outdoor seating as well as a little bench for 3-4 inside and is constantly buzzing with locals. Nice place to hang out and satisfy your sweet tooth. BTW, if you "like" them on facebook you can get secret codes for some great daily discounts.

Great for an afternoon or post-dinner craving for ice cream. Their sundae jr. is the perfect size if you don't want to get full. Good service, good ice cream and inexpensive. Cash only, but they have an ATM inside.

Love this gelateria. Unassuming, fresh, quality and good. Mint chip is my favorite. Soft serve hits the spot. My son who is 6 really gets it. He tells me all the time Whip 'n Dip is his favorite.

We usually go to Swensen's, but have passed this place many times over the years and not stopped in. So we decided to go for a change and try it out. The ice cream is homemade, but every flavor I tried was extremely sweet. I settled for a chocolate malt and it was ok. This place is really cute, but I wasn't impressed with their ice cream. Swensen's still has my vote for best ice cream around Sunset place.

I really love this place. Very happy to support our local and independent businesses. Their ice cream is phenomenal. The have both fat free soft serve and hand dipped ice cream. Many different flavors that rotate quite a bit and they put a lot of creativity into their choices as well. One of the ice creams I had in the past was cinammon.......so good! This place is perfect to stop by on a lazy afternoon or evening. Nice crowd, friendly service and one of my favorite places in town.

OH.MY.GOSH!!! I now understand the saying "a kid in a candy store" except I'm not a kid and this isn't really a candy store. I was overwhelmed with the amount of options there are - ice cream, shakes, soft serve, a flavor swirl soft serve, cookies, sundaes, etc!! And the flavors!! Creamsicle! Strawberry Truffle! Cake batter! The guy behind the counter was very helpful in helping me decide - small cake batter soft serve with sour patch kids on top please! The prices seemed very reasonable plus they offer a frequent customer card. We went on a hot Friday afternoon after the first week back to school so needless to say it was BUSY!! But the lines moved quickly and like I said - you'll need time deciding on what deliciousness to order! Thankfully for my waistline, the parking situation isn't great but all the more reason for me to walk there! Also, cash only.

I typically only write good reviews of place I like, but this may be bad it may not... Great Name... Great location.... Terrible Ice Cream.. why not just make it yourself, and if you do, use better richer ingredients, not ice cream mix from a bucket. Id recommend more of a traditional frozen custard. Use real vanilla beans, ice cream is very basic. You have the right everything... except the thing that would make me go back again. I think most people admire it as a neighborhood staple. I appreciate that but, time to step it up.

Thank you to AC and Christian for introducing me to this wonderful land of ice cream. I felt like Homer when he is in the land of chocolate. Went there this past sunday during the evening and it was packed. But the line moved quickly. You can get somethin a little healthy or go nuts. I got the brownie batter soft serve in a waffle cone with some chocolate jmmy's. It was delicious. Its always great to see these local businesses up and running and for such a long time has to say something about it. Remember also they have pints to take home. I will definitely be coming back here.

I was visiting Miami so emailed asking that they make toasted coconut ice cream. Had it on my last trip to Miami. They graciously made it and kept it in the back, just for me. It is the best I've ever had. No kidding. All their ice cream is homemade and the place is just as it has always been. The best! And don't forget the hot fudge. It's ridiculous.

I came out here with a friend who had raved about their ice cream. As soon as I walked in I instantly remembered having been here before as a kid. There's something about ordering ice cream at an ice cream parlor that brings out the kid in me. I quickly decided that I'd try the lychee flavored ice cream on the giant, chocolate covered waffle cone. You only live once right? The two girls behind the counter were quick to serve and friendly. There were a few college aged "kids" sitting inside chatting it up. We decided to sit on the benches outside and enjoy the cool evening. The portions they serve were huge! Talk about getting a lot of bang for your buck. This was the first time trying lychee ice cream and it was great. The ice cream was soft and sweet and I was in my own little world as I finished it. The price for the cone was pretty cheap considering how big it was. I can't believe I had forgotten how much fun you can have by simply going to the ice cream parlor. If I lived within walking distance to this place I'd look like Jared before he discovered Subway. After I polished off my cone, I asked the staff if I could use their employees-only restroom and they were nice enough to say yes. Instant customer for life! You really can't beat this place with a stick!

Love their frozen yogurt! The cookies were pretty good, too. I had some of my boyfriends chocolate chip and it was nice and soft. Parking here BLOWS, but its worth the trouble.

Can someone please explain to me how they make plain vanilla frozen yogurt taste soooooo good. This place always, and I mean always has a line out the door. Their yogurt is so unbelievable now i know why. It is definately a hang out for the UM crowd, but you also see families in there too.

Every time I go to Miami, I go to Whip 'n Dip. Yes, the line is usually to the door. Yes, I do not always love the flavors they have on tap. But that is the beauty of Whip 'n Dip; their flavors change weekly (every Thursday or Friday, I think). Local (patient) friendly teenagers stand behind the counter and serve up ice cream and delicious fat-free frozen yogurt. When I sit on the benches outside and consume my small cup, I feel like Newman devouring the (actually full of fat!) frozen yogurt. It is that delicious! Parking can be a bit hairy, but the forzen yogurt is worth the honks and tight spaces. The newest addition to the shoppe are a product called Stud Muffins - can someone please bring them to Chicago?

I would not have known of this hidden gem in the Gables area if not for my friends craving good old-fashioned ice cream! It's in a kid-friendly plaza - cupcake store on the right, and kids' consignment store two stores down. Great variety of flavors but I opted the non-fat, no cholesterol soft-serve option...I got the oreo chocolate soft serve topped with cookie crumbs. The portion was big for $4ish...and it didn't taste watered down like most healthy "non-fat" ice creams are. I wish I found this place earlier! :) Tip-bits: Ample parking Outdoor benches outside

Your ice cream/yogurt is good. Your prices, a bit high but I guess your location merits the rent/cost of product. I absolutely positively cannot get past the FILTH of the floor in your shop. OMG ! With competition being what it is with other yogurt places opening up, I would close for a weekend and re tile the floor with a color that will hide dirt and footprints. I really believe this is a 911 situation for you guys...Good luck...

Half cake batter, half peanut butter - froyo delight. Really, really rich, especially for frozen yogurt, but tasty. This isn't the super-healthy kind of frozen yogurt that tastes like real yogurt (think Yogurbella or Yogen Fruz), but the kind that's more like ice cream with artificial sweetener. That being said, I still dig it. If you're hankerin' for ice cream but want fewer calories, this is the place. This place has lots of options for ice cream and froyo, and cookie cakes - cool! And it can get really busy in the hot weather - great prices though! CASH ONLY, however, so keep that in mind. First time we walked in, we were without, and had to leave. Boo. But we went back, and were happy we did.

I like going to Whip n' Dip, I just don't love the ice cream. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but that doesn't mean much since it's really hard to screw up ice cream. They have some interesting flavors (hello Cookie Combo or whatever it's called) and some people love the frozen yogurt, but let's be honest, the reason people come here is to socialize. If you go at night--especially on weekends, there's a good chance you'll run into a loooong line. If you're from the Gables or Pinecrest, it seems like you're always running into people you know--or recognize but forgot (which I just love), which is fine and dandy, but when it's the main draw of a place, you know you can do better. I guess I'm being a bit of an ass, so I'll make up for it a little bit by giving them credit for having good prices and baking pretty damn good cookie cakes, and I'll admit I do enjoy going on a hot summer day, grabbing a few scoops, and sitting outside with friends. But still, I'm picky about dessert, and Whip n' Dip is not near the top of my list of places to get it.

Been coming here for years now. a family operated ice cream shop...or shoppe...that offers homemade ice cream (or dips) and yogurt-based soft-serves (or whips). since we humans like to think healthy, the whips tend to be the hot sellers here. They always serve vanilla and chocolate. but they alternate 4 other choices every week. 2 that are low calorie. and 2 that have no sugar added. check the website to see their flavors of the week. This place gets really crowded on friday and saturday nights..and sometimes on really hot days. or on days the local little league team has a game. its a popular place with families and young teens so dont expect any quiet romantic stuff here. Its a great ice cream shop...one of my favories here in miami. Visit it and be sure to have cash handy..they do not accept credit cards (although an ATM is available there)

I've only been here once, so I can't speak about the place with the same authority of many of the other reviewers. The softserve vanilla just tasted off. Not very vanilla-ish at all, and just not very good. So I can't give them a higher rating than 3 stars. Making a good vanilla is a key requirement for me for any ice cream or gelato place. However, a friend with me enjoyed the raspberry, although I thought it could have been a tarter. The place was very clean; staff were friendly; prices not too bad; and I would really like to keep local independent shops like this around. So I'll probably be back to give them another try, with the hope that that vanilla was just a fluke. Incidentally, parking in the late evening on a weekday wasn't bad at all.

I love this place! Very refreshing change from our now super-glam ice cream shoppes like ColdStone, or Dolce Vita. Family operated, and very homey. Usually busy, but the long lines move quickly. I suggest you top whatever you get with their hot fudge which is incomparable to any other fudge topping in the biz

Had the straight-up vanilla. It was a little dissapointing because their credit card machine was down and i had to take out from the atm machine, who likes carrying cash anyways? The guy working was ready to give me the ice cream for free when i pulled out my credit card, which goes to show the values of this establishment and the people they employ, but i couldnt do it and took out money from the machine instead. Oh, and the vanilla was definitely the best i've ever tasted in miami.

Whip 'n Dip is a classic South Miami hangout. Great ice cream and great hot fudge sundaes. The chocolate malt and cookies 'n cream are my two favorite flavors.

Been here several times now. As far as the ice cream goes I can only review the soft serve. I love the original (not sugar-free) varieties. They are delicious and absurdly creamy, although sometimes the flavors can be a bit off, tasting overly synthetic. Be wary of the sugar-free varieties as they have made me and my company sick several hours later. They're generous with toppings and with the ice cream itself, so don't be afraid to order a size smaller. The cookies are very good, it's worth grabbing a cookie cupcake when you go. P.S. CASH ONLY :)

Best frozen yogurt in Miami. I have tried them all. It is the texture that is so darn fantastic. It doesn't have that gross icey texture that many places have - it is so smooth and they have a great selection of unique flavors. Turtle fudge is my favorite flavor! Try the cookie cups too....to die for!

I recently visited this place for the first time. I found there selections is very minimum, but their chocolate and vanilla soft serve is excellent, it's one of the best it Miami! Their soft serve taste very light and not heavy at all. You could even have it even after a heavy meal. The place is a little small but it's always packed with locals and UM students. The staff is very friendly, they would not mind at all if you like to tried all their selections first because your final choice. Will definitely visit this place more often.

So as a kid we'd always drive by this place on the way to Matheson Hammocks and of course since it was so picturesque and pink I always wanted to stop there. Of course the only sane decision my Mom could make with a car full load of loud, swimsuit wearing, little monsters was to just keep the car moving and make no stops especially at an ice cream parlor where we were sure to OD on sugar and make a sticky, ice creamy mess in the car. And even more especially because we were usually part of a three or even four car caravan of cousins... what can I say my Mom and Tias were brave to accept the beach day missions. Ok but back to the review so recently I was driving by this place (no not on my way to Matheson) and realized I had never been inside. So I did what anyone what do, I pulled over and had some ice cream, cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip of course. And it was great and the inside was as cute as I had always imagined. There is a small town, neighborhood feel to this place, maybe cause it's 23 years old, maybe because it's what Miami used to be like.

Good ice cream, yummy flavors! Mascarpone? It was def a fave for me and my friend. I only had "bad" flavor and that was something with white chocolate chips. the chips had this funny taste to them which wasn't good, but the ice cream minus the chips was fine. Only 2 set backs... 1. they dont accept cards, but they do have an atm if you are caught without cash. and 2. the parking sucks, i usually go when im at beverly hills cafe a few blocks down and they have their own pay lot (correction metered lot as of recently) and just walk down to WnD Other than that its a really nice place, you should at least check it out once if you're in the area and have a few spare bucks.

Really? I haven't Yelped Whip-N-Dip? Wow. Amazing ice cream and fro-yo, all made on the premises. The small cone is huge, and cheap, and every lick is delicious. Parking can be hell on Earth, which is why, when I lived nearby, we used to walk. I'll let you all in on a little secret - park on the side street by the church and walk over - there's always open spots, and you don't have to deal with the hell of backing out onto Sunset Drive.

I've been coming here since I was little (over 20 years) and it never disappoints. Delicious ice cream AND soft serve (who knew fat free could taste so good?!). If you don't mind packing on some extra calories, make sure you try the homemade hot fudge!

rules for proper whip n dip enjoyment 1) pick a hot day 2) or any other normal day in your life 3) order softserve vanilla 4) in a waffle cone 5) with rainbow sprinkles 6) pretend you're 5 years old again without a care in the world, and enjoy this delicious treat! the pure charm of this place-pure homestyle family store-it really is something out of a movie. Ice cream isnt meant to be always be super healthy-but to be super nostalgic, guilt-free, and smile inducing. you bet your whipNdip!

Went here for the first time last night and had the caramel fudge eclair soft serve with chocoalte chips! Sooooo delicious, and relatively inexpensive in comparison to some of the cometitive yogurt places. THis will definitely become my go-to frozen treat stop from here on out!

Sweets aren't really my thing. But my husband and friends seem to love this place. I tend to lean toward the healthy-side. So I can't say that I'm a fan.

Back in 1996 my family moved into the whip-n-dip neighborhood and my love for this shoppe began! In my opinion, this small mom & pop store is always a sure thing! True, the selection isn't huge and the store isn't big inside, but those in the know ask to find out what flavors are in the back freezers (not displayed) and take their cones or cups outside to sit on one of the benches and enjoy the moment! Yesterday was one of these moments for me (again)! After work , (I work at one of those nearby schools from which the students always flood from to get to here for an afternoon treat) and a hot last 15 minutes in carpool duty, I decided I deserved a nice cold treat and I decided to treat myself to some Whip-n-Dip. I drove over, found parking at one of the side meters without a problem as the front parking was full...and usually is. I went in, waited behind 3 uniformed school kids, and then ordered my afternoon delight! Now, here is where it got a little bit sticky...I think my server was still feeling the effects from Monday (4/20) or something bc I told him my order- sugar cone with vanilla and cocolate swirl and colored sprinkles, please- and walked over to the register while he made my order. He just stared at the cones and said "Wait, which one again?" I said "Sugar" He said "oh yeah" and then went to the ice cream machine and said "just chocolate?" um..."no, swirl"....and then to my delight he gave me THE biggest cone ever! I swear- it was at least 6 inches from the top of the cone! I was soooo happy! Until...he came to the register without any sprinkles! What the?! I reminded him about the sprinkles and all was well though- colored sprinkles got loaded up on my boardering obscence looking cone. LOL I then happily paid my $2.13 for my huge cone and went outside to sit on one of the benches and enjoy it and the neighborhood (and sometimes beeping cars) before I continued on with my day. The cone was DELISH! One thing I LOVE about Whip-n-Dip is that their cones are never soggy or stale and there sprinkles are ALWAYS crunchy! SO yummy! The chocolate and vanilla swirl is a less indulgent staple for me, but when I feel like being a fatty I go for their COOKIE COMBO! I HIGHLY recommend it! It's like a cookies n cream, but with little bits of all their cookies, not just oreo. So yummy! And top that with the crunchy sprinkles- perfection! So, if you are ever in the neighborhood, be it afternoon or night- I would definitely recommend you stop in and enjoy! Sometimes you look in and the line is coming out the door, but have no worries, the lines move quickly and the long lines just mean that the product IS that good! I've been coming here for over 13 years now and don't plan on stopping any time soon! Hec, I may even go back this afternoon! LOL ~First review, officially over and out ;-)~

I'm a big fan of this place. Always have been. It's a family-owned location that has been there for what must be 20+ years. I'm a sucker for places like that and this area has a select few. I've been going here since I was a youngster and went recently, which is why i decided to do a write-up. The non-fat soft serves are guilt-free so both the child and adult in me love this option. My favorite flavor is peanut butter because it feels sinful. However, they change the available flavors all the time so you'll have to pray they have it the day you go! But whichever new flavor they have will be sure to surprise and please you. You can add a topping the regular way or get a Whirl which is like a DQ Blizzard. The dip, regular ice creams, are delish as well. Rich in flavor, definitely. The cakes and cookies are wonderful, they even offer homemade treats for dogs. Seating is limited to a bench inside and a few outside. It adds to the fun in my opinion. plus, it's always smart to give kids and adults alike, with melting ice cream, an open concrete area to catch what drips off their cone, onto their arm, and onto the floor. The line is always out the door but their late hours ensure that you'll get your fix, no worries. Bring cash. If you forget, there's an ATM inside.

My pregnant friend had an ice cream craving after dinner last week and asked I take her to Whip 'N Dip Ice Cream. Being Cuban and aware of the Cuban myth that you can get a sty if you don't follow through with a pregnant woman's wish, I drove there in the name of superstition. Boy was I glad I did. There is free parking up front. I didn't have trouble finding a spot on a weekday at about 9 pm. They have an assortment of ice-cream, deserts and some fat free yogurt selections. I tried my friend's fat free cake batter frozen yogurt and though the name was not very appealing my taste buds found it pleasantly tasty. I had a small cup of the mint chip and they packed in that little cup so don't bother going for the medium. I like that they are open late and has no one particular type of crowd. There were bikers, some teenagers and an older couple hanging out in the few benches set outside for guests. So, point being, you can have your dinner and desert too, fat free as well if you are one with a conscious.

Yum! Hole in the wall ice cream place, with plenty of unique flavors. Their cinnamon ice cream is divine. It's also a really cute and relaxing location. The people who work there have always been friendly. Taking one star because finding a parking spot is a bit of a nightmare and because I've never been wowed by their baked goods. They're not bad, just downright meh in comparison to the ice cream.

My favorite place to get Ice Cream in Miami. They have a delicious array of fattening ice cream or fat-free frozen yogurt. Very delicious cones and toppings also! The variety is outstanding. I love chilling there right outside on Sunset Dr eating my ice cream late at night.

i liked their ice cream -- had the brownie batter. (chocolate with nice brownie bits) but i don't recommend their tangy yogurt -- too heavy plain flavor, and the soft serve was just ok, flavors not leaping out. single scoop 2.75 small batch of cookies, cupcakes (didn't try since not sure how high the turnover is) first time i've seen a fish tank in an ice cream shop.

i really enjoy whip 'n dip. it's kind of tucked away in south miami. but if you find it (even if there's a line) it's well worth the wait. not only is there ice cream, but yummy cakes and cookies. though i'm not a big fan, i heard from alot of my friends about the chocolate frozen dipped bananas. it just feels like a family place. it's not expensive. everything's tasty. and it's been there long before i ever came to miami, but it still feels like my local ice cream joint.

Hands down the best place for cold treats south of Flagler Street. They have great ice cream but more importantly for those of us who care low calorie frozen yoghurt in many delicious flavors and, my personal favorite, chocolate covered bananas.

I agree with the rest of the reviewers! I've been coming here for many, many years. We usually get one of the soft-serve ice cream flavors, which are non-fat. The ice cream is home-made and very delish. I love supporting a local mom & pop type store and love to watch the kids eating their ice cream cones. Parking can be a hassle at times.

I love this place for the frozen yogurt. Everything looks so delicious, but if I trek down to South Miami, I am getting what I came for, which means I will prorbably never try the other treats (cupcakes, brownies, yum!) I am craving frozen yogurt just thinking about it.

love me some whip n dip! i have been coming here since kindergarten at st thomas everday after school. it is very nostalgic and i love everything about it. mint chip with hot fudge, the ice cream cookie sandwiches, all the soft serve, my mom loves the cookie cups with frosting, and the custom chocolate chip cookie cakes are always a big hit. all the people that work there are so nice, and i love that you can pull up, park, and sit inside or outside on the benches and people watch. whip n dip will always hold a very dear place in my heart!
